Hi! I wondered why the Kibahina child had a seal? Doesn’t meant they’re considered as a slave of the Hyuga Clan?
Also I love your art ❤️
Ahh hi! It was mostly just a general idea, my focus is more on their designs, but I thought since she has the byakugan she is part of the clan, but she knows about the clan history and how her mother was treated and all, so she prefers the Inuzuka clan. She gets the seal when she's a bit older and takes it as the closest she'll have to "getting kicked out of the clan". She then gets tattoos matching the Inuzuka markings and lives just like one of them, she has her dogs, has the sense of smell, little fangs... Just wasn't born with the cheek marks and has a byakugan she rarely uses and never really developed most Hyuuga techniques.

Do you prefer comments left only on AO3 to improve the stats and keep everything neat in one place, or are you good with comments still on tumblr?
That's a good question! Thank you for asking!
I think my opinion on this has changed over the years. When I used to post a fic on AO3, I only shared the link here on Tumblr to promote it. I wanted people to go to AO3 to read my stories because:
the number of hits, kudos and comments matters. Some people filter/sort fics by those stats, so the higher these numbers, the more likely it is people will find the fic and give it a chance
it's easier for people to find my other fics if they end up wanting to read more of my works
I love rereading old comments, especially when I don't feel motivated to write, and AO3 has it all neatly in one place, just like you said.
All these points still stand today but I eventually started posting my fics on Tumblr as well because I got the feeling that some people prefer to read them on here - which is fine by me because in the end, it doesn't really matter where people comment, only that they do.
The thing with Tumblr is, though, that a fic only reaches potential new readers if people also reblog it. If it isn't circled around, it'll get lost in the tags within the day and that's it. So the best readers on here can do to help an author is to reblog a fic and either add their comment below it or in the tags. And if they want to go a step further, they can then head over to AO3 and leave kudos and a comment there as well.
Now, I'm obviously not asking anyone to do that and I certainly don't expect anyone to comment twice. But I wish readers would just take a moment after reading a fic to think about how much time the author put into it, because we're talking hours, days, sometimes even weeks, months and years here. Most authors have regular day jobs and spend what little free time they have creating these stories only for people to read them in a matter of minutes and then click the like / kudos button and move on. It is, quite frankly, disappointing to only get likes and kudos on something you've poured your heart into, and also highly demotivating. Fandom is about interaction and gushing about your favourite characters together and getting inspired by each other. Kudos and likes don't offer that, and as long as readers prefer them over comments and reblogs, it shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone when writers (and artists too) lose the motivation to create or share their works and fandoms slowly grow quiet.

Miss Patchy, oh noble potion peddler, my heart has been captured by Denki Kaminari. Please, do you have a potion to make him notice me?
Tumblr media
Sweet traveler, I find it strange one as lovely as you seems to think they would be forgotten or unnoticed by those who have captured your heart. Perhaps it is the nature of their work to be surrounded by people, and you in turn just want a moment in their spotlight.
Drops of Sunlight would the potion I recommend to you. A shake of this small vial will cause the golden liquid to turn as bright as the sun itself, perfect to gain the attentions of your heart.
But unlike most potions, where you ingest the contents in some form, this works best if left on the skin. Drinking sunlight is never a good idea. But if you do as I say, your beauty will be so radiant it will shine far brighter than those around you.
If you so choose to do as I say.
Tumblr media
Ink on a paper, alongside the scribbles of your quill, that was the only sound that could hear from within your little sanctum. Only briefly would your sighs or murmured words break that silence as you furiously tried to finish the written piece you were currently working on; to the point where your mug of tea had gone cold.
Your short stories do not themselves after all. That was what you kept muttering to yourself as you huddled yourself away from the world; your deadline ever looming closer. And really, what better time could you write than this? Not only was the spring air, with your hawthorn buds and baby’s breath in bloom in your small garden before you, but the sun was finally shining brightly overhead.
And, well, your muse was back.
A faithful knight to the crown, Kaminari Denki had been a part of this court for almost as long as you had. Though your roles meant you could never truly get to spend much time in the presence of the other; he often was away for weeks at a time doing whatever adventure was needed of him and his fellow brethren.
And you were a lady, meant only to stay within the stone walls covered in ivy, with your words your only sense of comfort and adventure you could ever hope to find and achieve. You were grateful that you were able to change to allow your writing to be published, to begin with, and for your tales to be as successful as they were, though you always longed for the scenarios your write to become true.
Especially when it came to romance. The scenarios you wrote always made so many fawn and sigh in delight over the declarations and acts of love you so passionately wrote about; praising you for how realistic the emotions were. But really, you had Kaminari to thank for such praises. His charm and humor made you swoon, and the smile he gave to others - both playful and sweet - made your heart fall for him; unable to even try to stop it.
You could remember the first time he gave you one of the soft and sweet smiles when you managed to capture his attention by opening your sanctum’s large window into the tiny garden your home resided by. You could remember the way your heart fluttered when a small wave accompanied that marvelous smile; and then how it nearly stopped beating when he walked over to give you a ‘hello’.
You longed for another interaction like that, to have the chance to speak to him again. But every time you went to open your window to gain his attention once more, a woman’s giggle would reach your ears. You would watch him walk across the stone pathway with a woman or two would be at his side; they would be clinging to him as they walked, never once looking in the direction of your sanctum. Thus causing you to let go of your window’s latch and watch, wishing you could have the same opportunity.
To be able to be seen by him again.
You suppose your desperation to have that moment again was why you went and got that potion, the one that seem to sit so heavy around your neck, from that peddler that appear out of nowhere. You were willing to throw caution in the wind, like many a heroine in your stories, to get rid of your apparent cure of invisibility.
And now today would be the most perfect time to use it. Kaminari was, after all, lounging in the garden and strumming his lute as he was so oft to do whenever he came back from a long journey; hours on end if you were lucky enough.
You just needed the strength to finally pull yourself away from your quill and ink, to stop over rationalizing the excuse of a deadline, and take the plunge. Not only would this give you a chance of a romantic scenario you so often wrote about, but it could also give you further inspiration to write more of them.
With a deep breath, you pulled at the golden chain that sat around your neck, fishing out the potion that lay underneath your dress. You turned away from your window, not wanting to possibly watch what you were about to do. You took a deep sigh as you gaze at the golden liquid in the small canister, hoping it would do as the witch told you it would.
You swallowed, and vigorously shook your hand to activate the drops of sunlight like you were instructed to do; having to briefly shield your eyes from the blinding light it produced once you did so. Once it was more tolerable you carefully squeezed the rubber head of the dropper and carefully untwisted it from the canister; allowing you a few drops to place on your skin.
You rubbed it briefly between your fingertips before dabbing it lightly over your cheekbones, allowing the gentle warmth to fill your face; feeling the glow it left behind. You smiled, the radiant feeling of beauty you could feel in your entire being. It gave you the confidence to finally open your window and gain the knight of your affection’s attention.
You had to try and hide your smile when you saw that it worked, that Kaminari’s head tilted in your direction in curiosity; having his fingers cease their beautiful strumming. You had to act natural, and sit yourself back down in your plush chair, as you saw him cast aside his instrument to stand and walk toward you.
It did not take him long to finally reach your window, his long legs made quick work of it all, as he tapped your window politely to gain your attention with that same sweet smile you had long to see once again.
“Hello m’lady. Enjoying the wonderful weather as well?” Kaminari inquired, leaning himself again on your window sill.
“O-oh yes!” You agreed, fiddling with your quill out of nervousness “The spring has certainly been kind to us this year.”
“Yes, I agree” Kaminari nodded his eyes moving to scan the gardens before they landed on you once more, head tilting in slight confusion  “I apologize, I hope I don’t come across as rude, but you look a little different.”
You do your best to feign confusion at his statement, trying not to let that mirthful smile to appear once more on your face as your giddiness buzzed throughout your body. You mimic his head tilted, blinking wide eyes up at him.
“Different, you say? May I ask you how?”
“I’m not sure…” He mumbled out, eyes scanning your face to find some clue “Just different somehow…”
Before you could respond back in kind, to try and make a witty rebuttal over his choice of words, he surprised you with the brush of his fingertips against your cheek; bruising aside a few strands of hair that lay there; taking a moment run this thumb over your cheekbone.
“I guess I’ve been gone too long, because your pretty face just seems to shine brighter than normal.”
Tumblr media
It appears you did not need my potion after all…. strange. You may still keep it, I am true to my word, and perhaps it may be able to help you in other ways in the future. Maybe even for creativity purposes. Oh, and another word of advice, use rose water to wash those drops of sun away; it will lead to less irritation on your skin.

so my younger cousin is flying in to visit from brazil on sunday, and will be staying here for like, the entirety of july. which, don't get me wrong, is super cool! i love the kid! but it felt like a super weird move, considering his parents are the SUPER strict and borderline helicopter parents. even the smallest prank/roughousing with him/his little sister would lead to a strict talking to from his parents, he couldn't ever do anything without their clear permission, that sort of stuff. so letting him fly at alone at 16 to a whole different country and stay there for a whole month seemed WILDLY out of character. additionally, it just felt like a super last-minute trip. it's not like we have any plans to do when he gets here, and the flight itself and stuff only got booked like, midway through june.
and i was talking to my mom about it, kind of trying to nudge some answers out of her, and after a while she went, "yeah, i think they're sending him over here to get away for his boyfriend. see if the distance breaks them off." which, first of all, surprised me because last i checked, they didn't KNOW he had a boyfriend. literally everyone in the family did EXCEPT for them because while that entire side of the family being semi-conservative, his parents (mostly his dad) are EXTREMELY old-fashioned. so clearly something already went wrong. and considering the only reason the rest of the family knew is because one person found out and it spread like wildfire, i have a sneaking suspicion he wasn't the one to tell them, either.
and second of all. they're sending him HERE. to try to make him forget his homosexuality. i couldn't do anything but just wordlessly gesture to the multiple pride flags scattered around my room, then to myself, because really? he has like two other cousins in the us and they're sending him to me? honey i am about to introduce this kid to queer scenes you have never even heard of. he'll be returning home with labels only shrimp can perceive

Great news for uninsured adults in the USA who want a COVID-19 booster! It now appears that ALL CVS locations are now active participants in the Bridge Access Program. The Bridge Access Program gives out free Covid-19 vaccinations to 18+ adults who otherwise can't afford one, so if you have a CVS near you, please go get one! For others who don't have a CVS near them, please go to vaccines.gov, click on "Find Covid-19 vaccines", fill out which vaccines you prefer (you can mix different vaccines if you have to so i reccomend just marking all of them for the age groups you need), and when the next page loads mark the "Bridge Access Program Participant" option to see only locations that are Bridge Access Program participants. Hopefully, other places that aren't CVS will start participating soon, so just check back every so often to see if there are any updates. The CDC Bridge Access Program website also has more details on what locations will be participating, but only CVS is appearing as an active participant on the vaccines.gov location finder at the moment.

I forgot how lonely it is to write original fiction.
Where are the kudos? The subscriptions? The comments? The people cheerleading me chapter to chapter? Where are the kind words and compliments and reassurances that what I'm writing isn't complete crap? Where are the unhinged emojis? The asks on Tumblr? Where are my mutuals in my dms apologizing for not reading the latest chapter right away (side note, you know you don't have to apologize at all, right??). Where is the fanart? Where are the recs?
Where is my motivation to keep going?
It's something I've been thinking about a lot, actually, lately. How the experience of writing fanfic is so unique. How you already have an audience, willing and waiting and captive. And that's really it, isn't it? You have an audience. It's almost performative, writing fanfic. It's being on a stage, a one-person show (or two, if you do it with a friend); it's getting live reactions to your performance, it's feeding off the energy of the crowd and informing it back in a feedback loop; it's improvised, sometimes, in almost-real-time. It's building something that you couldn't have built by yourself. A thing that takes on a life of its own.
It's an experience you can't get writing original fiction, and, honestly, not having it is making it hard to write something original at all.

I'm just thinkin' about how Eda pushed Raine away because of the curse.
Tumblr media
She was afraid to let them in. She was afraid to ask them for help, or share how she was feeling...she was scared to show the side of herself that was messy and dangerous and painful and (in her mind) unlovable.
Tumblr media
But when she finally let Raine see who she actually was...
Tumblr media
...this was their reaction.
Tumblr media
...they love all of her. Including those messy and dangerous and painful parts.
