loki spoilers/analysis yes yes episode 4 was O.o but hear me out. It makes sense (as much as i hate that)

OK so i hate the ship because its so unsettling for me. BUT as mad as I am, I have to give kudos to the writers because it makes sense. Loki is a narcissist that’s the first layer of things. If you dive in deeper to the episodes up to this point and whatever else happened in episode 4, it frustratingly makes sense.

He was made to face his deepest fear- being alone, in a manner that doesn’t only leave you physically hurt from Sif’s punches, but mentally and emotionally hurt too. Being repeatedly told that he deserved to be alone? From Mobius’ words and Loki’s reaction to Mobius, he did believe he deserved to be alone. But then bam! When Loki has been given the hope of a friend, a way out of his loneliness, Mobius is pruned right before his eyes. And from Loki’s behaviour, you know he’s hurting real bad. His friend dead (while we know Mobius is not, Loki doesn’t so pain for him), the hope he had literally disintegrated before his eyes. Even in the lift scene, you would expect Loki to say something. A quip or a jab at Ramona or even Sylvie. But he stays quiet and his eyes just show pain (kudos to Tom Hiddleston btw it was fantastic acting). Loki’s thinking. He thinks of all that Mobius said about loving Sylvie- calling him narcissistic and well, he identifies as being narcissistic. He thinks of all the times he heard Sif say that he is alone and his talks with Sylvie on Lamentis where he could actually have a conversation with someone. A normal conversation between two people in which they learn more about each other and try to empathise with each other. Where he is accepted by Sylvie for all his annoying jabs. Just as he accepts her. And Loki realizes this. Perhaps he already had these thoughts when he was sent back into the time cell for the second time. But I think after Mobius’ pruning, it solidified what Loki believes is feelings for Sylvie.

Chaos fits Loki because that is what he is. But he is also a person who has been left to struggle with his own loneliness, identity and desire for an escape from all this confusion. Because chaos is confusing. Loki chose to be the bad guy in New York but his reaction to Mobius telling him that he was destined to be a bad guy to bring out the best in others tells us he doesn’t want that. Loki doesn’t want to continue being shunned and left alone. And in the TVA (because Loki hasn’t undergone that character development of Dark World and Ragnorak where we also interestingly see him at his lowest and his highest. Being locked in a cell alone vs. Interacting and living on a planet with others in Sakaar), Loki doesn’t know how to get rid of this confusion and angst in him. I think honestly, as crazy as episode 4 was, the writing of this show is amazing. Because it fits with both the MCU movies before and after even with all the timeline nonsense. They essentially fleshed out Loki’s character from the less than 30minutes of screentime he has had in all the movies. And this uncertainty about identity, even Loki knows it. The fact that he admits the ‘feelings’ he has for Sylvie are new to him. He could be mistaking the basic feeling of friendship and true companionship for love. Because hope only leads to pain, i am NOT going to hope that Marvel and the writing team allows Loki to undergo more self-discovery of what it means to be lonely and how to healthily deal with this fear (because u cannot convince me that his coping mechanisms up to now have been healthy at all. Aggression towards others eg. cutting off Sif’s hair? invading NYC? yeah and the fact that he doesn’t fear death is an even greater red flag. You may have died before but Loki is stuck in a place where he has none of his magic). I am NOT going to hope that they allow Loki to understand his feelings better even though Tom Hiddleston did say that Loki still has a lot of self-understanding to do before he falls in love. I am NOT going to believe that Loki will not kiss Sylvie but grow as a person who learns what it means to have friends who have got your back. I am also NOT going to believe that the writing and acting team are made up with a group of people who are 100% ok with selfcest (yes she is a different person but it is still very unsettling im sorry). Let’s not (legit not this time), jump into the fray and flame the writing team or Marvel. We really don’t know where they are going with this. It all depends on ep 5 and 6. After ep 6 i think its safe to say we can decide whether or not to start a fire because my hopes will be dashed and my disappointment immeasurable.

Unpopular opinion: To me Mobius is growing into the father figure that Loki always wanted and needed.

In episode 1 I hated him a lot, because he was unnecessarily cruel to Loki. It was more like Loki was a “thing” Mobius studied his whole life and he didn’t took him serious as a living, feeling being. That changed with episode 2 though. Now he sees Loki as a person.

It’s like Loki desperately wants to impress Mobius and Mobius does entertain it, but is also annoyed when it gets too much. Just like a parent. Then though when he talks to others he is totally proud “Did you see what my boy Loki did? Isn’t he amazing? I always knew he was special. But now, look!” Whatever Loki does that is wrong, Mobius always dismisses it. “Nah, Loki isn’t worse than other kids his age. He is just brilliant and bored. Your fault for not giving him the proper attention.”

And Loki sees that finally there is someone who listens to him, who takes him serious, who gives him attention and wow, does he bath in it. Always seeing how far he can push, when it is too much. Trying to find out if Mobius is testing him by pretending to be friendly. So far he didn’t find the breaking point. Like sure, Mobius is annoyed at times and tells him off, but he doesn��t dismiss Loki as a person, only the behaviour that angers him. Like if your child throws food around, you tell it to stop and you are annoyed by the behaviour, but you don’t love your child any less. Like the behaviour is bad, but not your child.

I just couldn’t help it after watching episode 2 of Loki, he looked cuddly. Hope you guys like it. xoxo.

Your relationship with the God of Mischief in the last week hasn’t been amazing to say the least. The God was practically driving you nuts with his behaviour, teaseness and smart mouth. You felt it was almost punishment that Mobius gave you to make you watch and guide Loki. It seemed like that to say the least. He was a pain in the ass and like a kid always questioning everything and thinking he also had the answer to everything.

Now that he was able to run wild in the office it was worse. Even when you tried to have him away from you he would always find a way into finding you, almost like he couldn’t get away. In secret you actually felt some sort of attraction towards him at the same time. He was probably the most attractive person you’ve ever seen, handsome, tall, muscular, blue-eyed. If you wouldn’t know his personality you would be almost glad to have him pop in your office like he does.

“(Y/N)!” Loki said entering your office. You audibly groan, setting down your things already. “I thought you had to go be with Mobius” you mention rubbing your eyes together. “Yeah, I did, now I’m back here” he said and sat down on the chair in front of yours. You hummed. “What is it now Loki?” you ask with a sigh. “Can’t I just hang with you?” he asked with a cheeky smile. You frowned. “I never thought of you as the hanging type of guy” You mention organizing the papers on your desk. “Only when it’s in the company of someone as attractive as you” he smiled. You were caught off guard. You looked at him with wide eyes at his comment. You knew he was a flirt but never so forward like he just did.

You cleared your throat and pushed some strands of hair behind your ear. “What do you want?” you asked in a more serious tone. He frowned. “What do you mean?” he asked. “Well you are acting all nice and that’s never a good sign when it comes to you” You mention standing up. Loki chuckled. “That’s true but I am not rude to you, so I don’t know what you mean” he said shrugging. He was right, even though he annoyed the daylights out of you, the God was never mean to you, never rude, never insulting. Still you looked at him with suspicion.

“I’m just telling the truth, love, you are a beautiful being to watch,” he said. You looked away trying to help him from seeing your embarrassment. In the TVA there wasn’t anyone with time or spark enough to do flattery on another person, yet alone you. “Well, you aren’t known for being a truthful person” you mention. He stood up and walked over you. Your eyes look up at him once he is quite close to you. Your back pressed against the wall. His eyes were something else looking down at you, perhaps adoration.

“I would never lie to you, love. Especially about your looks” he said softly. You almost audibly gulped at the intensity of his stare and tone. You both stared at each other and a voice in your head was screaming to kiss him, but still you moved away and stepped a few feet away from him. “Em...I-I’m actually g-glad you came, cause I have a task to give you” You said slowly. He sighed and nodded. “Yes, what is it?”

You ended up giving Loki the files of the Variant you were looking for, so he could study them and perhaps find something you haven’t. In full honesty you weren’t planning on handing him those but it seemed like a long job he could entertain himself with, for at least the rest of the day.

It was currently after hours and like usual you were taking a walk in the library searching for some books about 1985 casualties, the time were the Variant was last seen. Just as you were about to go to your lonesome home you spotted Loki in one of the tables sleeping. You looked around to see if anyone else was near but it seemed like it was only you two in this section. He was illuminated by a little light table. You saw the files scatter around the table, some of them below Loki’s sleeping figure.

It was almost amazing to see him do such a mundane thing. He looked even more handsome doing so, he looked relax, in peace. His mouth was slightly gaped as his face rested on his folded arms. Your hands caressed his back and he woke up slowly. The first thing he saw was your face. He smiled softly but closed his eyes again. “Sorry, must’ve fallen asleep reading some of this. I was almost done” he mumbled, still pretty asleep. “No, leave it Loki” You whispered. He looked at you once more.

“Do you have a place to stay?” you asked. He shook his head.

You weren’t sure what you were doing as you helped a sleepy Loki get inside your house. He was hanging on to you as you walked. You decided not to turn on the lights so it wouldn’t disturb his eyesight.

“My roommate is off this week so you can stay here until then, I don’t think she would mind you staying on her bed” you said as you dropped your keys and led Loki to the room. You turned the night table on and opened up the covers so he could get inside. Loki looked around with his sleepy eyes and you were in awe of how adorable he looked.

“So em, the loo is right in front of the room, and the kitchen is just at the entrance where we just pass if you need some water. I’ll be back” you mention and hurry down to your own room to change your work clothes and put on your comfortable Pjs. Wash your teeth and face before stepping out and almost tip-toe into your friends room where you found Loki already inside the covers, eyes still open only barely. You smiled softly.

“So, I’m in the room next door if you need anything…” You whispered. “Goodnight…” you were about to close the door when Loki spoke. “This might seem an odd question and I totally understand if you decline but...could you...could you lay down beside me?” your heart could’ve melted then. In any other situation your answer would’ve been an absolute no, but looking at a sleepy Loki was almost impossible to. So you nodded your head and stepped inside the room, closing the door just a little bit. Loki moved to the other edge of the bed giving you space. You got inside the covers and lay down facing him. He had his eyes closed but he smiled softly. You turned slightly to turn off the night table and back to look at him barely illuminated. You closed your eyes as well as him. Before you were drifting to actual sleep, Loki reached over your body and wrapped his arms around you pulling you close to him. You opened your eyes a little as you met his chest hearing his calm heart beat. You hummed and almost drowned in his warm embrace. His hands softly caressing your hair.
