Alright, please I have a small request

Can you please stop making "jokes" about how Rafal Nel and Alear aren't blood-related under my meta post about them pleaaaaaaase ?

You know that while their S support isn't canon in any way, the fact that Nel, Rafal and Alear aren't siblings is canon right ? No matter whom you marry. Even if you choose Alfred, they aren't siblings. Even if you choose Yunaka, they arent's siblings. This isn't some knowledge or special magical thing only tied to their S support, it's something that is canonically established independly of your decision. So really. When I am talking about lore stuff about them that have nothing to do with the S support because it exist independly of it, it's getting annoying to have somone ALWAYS pointing out to how they are optional romance.

Whether I am talking about it or not, it's annoying and not mentioning that there are people who get triggered by the sole mention of the I word, so when you do stuff like that, I can't even warn them with a TW and I don't even know what TW I am supposed to put exactly ? Like people joking about two individual descending from different version of a same person being unrelated to each other ???

When you are doing that you are giving the impression that Nel and Rafal only exist for Alear to have a dragon waifu/husbando with some lore to make it vaguely wincest-ual instead of them existing independly of the S support and the S support existing only cause IS didn't intended to go the sibling path with them.... like they did for all the previous entries. And it's annoying cause the dragon lore is interesting and I always find need detail to compare as to how different Nel and Rafal are from Veyle and Alear when it comes to Fell dragons and I don't wanna fear to have discourse about how they should pass a DNA test each time I am talking about Nel or Rafal.... really, that's tiresome.

I have the impression I can't talk about my favorite character without having someone trying to start something to ignite discourse because they dislike their S support existing. The Fell twins are already underrated as ever.

Please, don't do it under any of my post. Go bother IS instead. If you see one of my post, please resist the urge. Don't comment. Heck, even block me or mute it. If you can't handle it, don't play the DLC, or Engage, or Fire Emblem period. Cause really, I don't know what to think when someone will comment that they aren't blood related or jokes about "Kaga's intent" under my post. I can't tell if you are uncomfortable, or if you actually don't care, all I can tell is that it is annoying me that the first thing you think of when I talk about the lore surrounding Nel Rafal and Alear is the fact you can date them. When I can assure you that this is probably the one thing IS think the less about. I don't think they made alll the differencies between the two pair of Fell siblings exist just to make it ok to waifu Nel and Rafal, but rather that they wrote their stories first and then put the S rank because they saw no problem with that as it wasn't in their plan to make it seems like they are family. Call me naive, but at this point it's my conclusion from all the reading I made. And I think we can discuss it, without brining up something that is ENTIRELY optional when I am discussing something that is ENTIRELY CANON.

That's honestly kind of disrepectful towards me or other if I am being honest. It's the equivalent of telling someone under a post that is made to say they like a story that this story is bad, or that their favorite character is bad, or that their ship is bad or problematic. Sole difference is that you are dragging me to a discourse I try my best to avoid, so much that I keep all my shipping work in separate plateform as to not bother anyone, but this time with analysis that I enjoy doing. I don't wanna sound like I am being sensitive, but I allowed it for way too long and my patience as its limit too. I really don't wanna see my post that are meta based on the canon text being dragged into a stupid ship war to know on whether or not it's ok to ship those two fictional characters when it had nothing to do with the OG post.

So please, please, do not do that again. I already used to turn off my notification or mute my post but that didn't work and normally I shouldn't even have to do it in the first place, so I am asking you. Make an effort.

The WMTSB character work is genuinely a joy, but my favorite part about the saga is how it became a husbando generator? First we get Sandy as the antagonist, but then he becomes super popular, especially with MAO, so they make Belial as the worse villain except he ALSO becomes ridiculously popular and even part 3 gave us Lucilius who has some dedicated fans. Belial being chiefly among them. It's so funny, they really managed to catch lightning in a bottle three times

And god right? it's so funny. Like the fact all of them are as popular as they are, even now, after years since the end of the trilogy, is incredible.

Sandy is funny considering he was supposed to be a one-of villains and people loved him so much they had to bring him back and give him a redemption arc.

Belial is SO funny to me since he was a complete accident in production. Writer had a writer block. Wrote Belial to blow off some steam and unblock themselves. The devs initially thought about removing him because he was Too Much and instead they kept him. It's like... so on brand with Belial too. Like the guy chaotically manifested himself in the writer's brain and everyone tried to stop him but none could do. Now when you see how popular he is it's wild to think he came from a mix of "spur of the moment writing" and taking a gamble.

Lucilius at least feels more grounded in what people would stan more easily so i see it LMAO not that Sandy and Belial aren't stan makers, but just, at least Lucilius was planned early enough in the story that you can feel the writers did try to build him up. Compared to Mistake n°1 and Mistake n°2 over here.

Which adds a meta textual humor to the whole situation. Carefully crafted antagonist with a long working plan to reach godhood gets defeated in popularity by the most annoying "spur of the moment" of his creations and the guy that was never supposed to stay that long to start with if not for the fact he was so beloved.

And while less popular i see Bubs getting more and more popularity these days, though i think the fact gbvs fans really like him add to the popularity i'm seeing. So really the whole cast struck gold and they never managed to fully reproduce it afterward, except now with the Dragons. What a feat.

his struggle with loneliness. Cheritz took a man with wealth beyond our feeble imaginings and gave him a psychosis that made him so fucking relatable. for real though they really hit the nail on the head with him: hyper-focusing on your job, dismissing big familial issues, putting too much emotional weight onto your pet, these are things i think most people can relate to do, and Cheritz tied them together with loneliness, distilled them to their base issues, and fed them to Jumin on a silver spoon. his BEs reflect how horribly his life can spiral if he doesn't properly address(BE3 is actually more of a reflection of MC's character but i digress) the root problem: his inability to make meaningful connections to other, and a dating sim is the perfect setting to explore that! unlike Damien who i was talking about before, Jumin is a perfect example of executing a premise perfectly and to it's logical conclusion

this is one of the few times we actually see Jumin call out V and reprimand him, and it is so worth it. Jumin has plenty of good moments but this one definitely takes the cake, especially after all we learn about what V has let transpire in his and Saeran's routes

Top 5 Fiveya Scenes!

Tough question! If you think about it their scenes are few compared to enterity of each season and yet they’re so meaningful. I’ll write the scenes in crescendo order, from bottom to top. I put everything under the “keep reading” line because I really talk too much. Thanks for giving me the opportunity to talk about Fiveya! 

1. The coffe shop moment in Dallas. It’s just a tender scene. The first real interaction Vanya had with someone who was her family, Luther was not that good with his explanation and didn’t stick around after telling his bit. It was almost cute how Five tried to keep the truth about the Apocalypse from her, to not burden her with the knowledge she killed 7 billions people, but a stupid decision that bit him back later. He did it out of care for Vanya (and a bit of convenience for himself), but he needs to stop avoiding the discourse “Vanya is the cause of the Apocalypse”. As I said wrote in a meta before, until they will sort out together the Apocalypse thing, it’s never gonna to be closed as theme (in which they are the two pivotal points). I am also amused by how Five interrupt her phone call. 

2. Their first private time together, in front of Five’s portrait. It set the tone of their future interactions. It made you understand that when they talk with each other, they tend to have private conversations loaded with some tenderness or intimacy or different level of importance. It also happened after Vanya talked about him with Pogo, which linked immediately the two with an invisible thread. The fact the conversation with Pogo was about the time she waited/hoped for his return is considerably more important, because right after that Five did return. Five and Vanya are linked. The show tells you that.

Then you discovered he had read her book in the future (later you will also discover that he kept that book with him after leaving the Apocalypse and it was the place where he wrote down his equation to come back to his family. It was that important for him) and with her he talks softer, he is less an of an asshole and you know that, because you have just seen how he talked with the other siblings (Diego, Luther). He kind comforted Vanya too (“Ah, there are worse things” than exposing our family’s dirty laundry, not like she didn’t tell the truth). It was also interesting how Vanya was the one approaching him, tentatively and how they were establishing again a way to interact with each other.

3. Vanya and Five arguing like a married couple, after Luther told her she caused the Apocalypse. Excuse me but that scene is too funny and lovely. Five was all smug and cocky, as usual, so certain she would follow him after talking with Luther and then he went instantly in panic mode, because she was leaving him. He let Luther go the first time, not making a very big effort with him. However, with Vanya is all “UnCCEptAble VANYA!” the second she said she going back to the farm (subtext: back to her farm friend frau, who is not just a friend and Five knew that. Oh, he knew that. He is clever, remember?). 

Vanya is rightful pissed off by the omitted information, even if she doesn’t have her memory back she felt betrayed by Five (who she trusted, even though he was technically a complete stranger). The whole argument is just funny and I enjoyed it too much. I love every micro-expressions their faces did, bless Ellen and Aidan. Five could have blinked inside the car, but nope, he knocked at the window trying very hard to be a sensitive person. She chould have driven away the second she was inside the car, but she took down the window and listened Five when she didn’t have too. Their faces the second before the car window was taken down were fantastic! It was literally wifey-husbando situation in my head and I couldn’t stop giggling. 

And again, Five’s tone of voice with her is always soft or deep. Whoever let Aidan plays Five like that with Vanya deserve a fruit basket. 

4.The stand-off scene in the middle of the road: ICONIC. The sweet, sweet tension between them could be cut with a knife, delicious, oustanding, visceral. Two tiny people ready (not really, not even close, they really did not want to) to blow each other up and destroy some corn fields from existence? Starring at each other in a crescendo of tension, yet each of them looked uncertain (especially almighty Five)? Vanya knows that she can take Five down and Five knows it too? Vanya not pursuing her threat because, despite not really knowing Five and having her memory back, she doesn’t want to hurt her family, therefore him? Five giving up first, knowing he shouldn’t be so partial to Vanya and yet he let her go anyway? I love it all. 

I mean, do I need to say more? All these are rethorical questions. Thank you for this scene, it was one of the best of season 2 for me. It made me excited and thrilled to the core. THE TENSION. BLESS THEM. 👏👏👏 I explain here why I also think it’s an important scene for the future development of the pair and their relationship, right now I could just make some stupid noise. 

5. Vanya and Five’s moment in her apartment (both parts in EP1 and EP2). The first time, before I started shipping them, I didn’t expect such scene of intimacy and confidence right after a spree murder scene. It’s incredibly telling that the first thing Five did, after escaping the Commission’s attack and basically death, was to seek Vanya. So far in the first episode the show wanted us to know that Five is an abrasive old man inside a 13-years-old body, who doesn’t take sh*t from anyone and bites back people with sarcasm. He also tend to treats people patronizingly and he does whatever he wants, because he has business to do. 

However, the show also marked his ability to be less of an asshole when he is around Vanya. The first time in the living room in front of his portrait and the second time in Vanya’s apartment. The first time I didn’t expect such scene, also because they already showed Five and Vanya’s closeness in the previous scene I mentioned. Why do it again? Twice in a one episode? You start to think there is something very important between Five and Vanya, then. Especially because among her sibling, so far, Vanya had a good interaction only with Allison. The show made a point fo show us that Vanya and Five had a particular connection (Because she waited him and prepared his favourite sandwish every night until she couldn’t hope no more. Because he read her book and when they are alone, he changes his tone to a softer one...still abrasive if provoked, but contained). 

So, after escaping death what did the old man do? He went to Vanya. Not even to treat his wounds (he could have gone to Hargreeves House for that), because he clearly doesn’t care, but to talk with her. Just to talk with her. It is incredibly telling of the importance that Vanya has for him. What he wanted was someone to share the one thing that obssessed him and shaped him into the person he is now, his burden, his secret, his greatest fear: the apocalypse. And Five chose Vanya. It was probably the first very time he exposed himself after decades of solitude and also the few years he couldn’t trust anyone else but himself (in the Commission). He trusted Vanya tho. He trusted her with the most vulnerable side of him. 

And Vanya listened him, even tho she didn’t understand everything and she didn’t quite believe him, but she didn’t want him to feel stupid or excluded. She did her best to understand and she tried to be there for him too. She knew Five was visibly affected by the situation, she cared for him and didn’t want him to leave her apartment in turmoil. She didn’t want to lose him again, not after 17 years (for her) wondering where in the world (when) he was and if he was alright. What she needed was time to wrap her head around the news of the end of the world (that honestly nobody would truly believe), since she was just ordinary Vanya who never had to face looming dangers or villains like her siblings. 

The intimacy of the moment (both parts in ep 1 and pe 2) was palpable. There was tenderness too: Five let her take care of his cut, something he didn’t let her other siblings do in the later episodes (he had to pass out or be drunk af to let his sibling see him vulnerable or let them take care for him). It was literally a bubble where time stopped for them (Five doesn’t have time, remember? He insisted on this point, yet here he was, taking time to talk with Vanya).

The moment they shared that first night set not only the importance of their connection and how they interact with each other, but also made clear there might be something unspoken, something between them that they need to address. It’s the “we were almost something” right, kind of moment? And for me it was stronger than any other “they may or not may” between Allison and Luther tbh. But I might be too fiveya biased xD.

I can finally call myself a Zhongli and Diluc simp who have them (on seperate accounts still it's nice having a Husbando on each of my 2 accounts to look forward in seeing) 😭😭😭 this is the man who I originally rerolled for and finally after almost 7-8 months (?!?!?!) He finally came home. Standard Banner and off pity too since I recently got Qiqi in pity.

Will still be rolling for Eula (hopefully) to complete the Trifecta of Mondstandt's Clans. Watch me make a team of the 3 even if two of them are main DPS material, watch me.

About Zhongli's state in the game right now..

I just want to vent(?) and let out my thoughts about this whole ordeal as a Zhongli simp. Take note that if you are someone who has Zhongli or wants Zhongli/is planning to roll for Zhongli and wants to read this post, be prepared. Because as much as i hate to say it, this one is gonna be harsh. I wish it wasn't, but the truth really hurts and is also something that i struggled to accept sjdjdjchsk

Ngl i'm probably going to get hands thrown at me because of this post but i really, really want to vent about what Mihoyo did to his character. This week has been a roller coaster when it comes to Zhongli. From being super excited for his release, being elated getting him, to being absolutely devastated at all the comments and information that had come out prior to his release.

Basically, as a 5*, Zhongli is very underpowered and underwhelming. This is something i hadn't noticed myself because my Zhongli still didn't have a proper build and weapon yet, but when i did, i felt my own happiness plummet at the weight of the reality.

I don't care if he is strong as a support or a dps, and no i don't want him to necessarily be good at being dps. But this will include a lot of stuff regarding damage because he is a five star with nuking potential. It's also this way because he is THAT underpowered. Even having him be a very good support would be a blessing, but as it goes, he is not.

First it was the comments in Youtube videos, arguing with each other about how bad/good he was. Those comments made me question a lot of things. But i felt absolutely crushed when Jinx and Tuner uploaded their stream of their Zhongli and Xinyan testing.

For those that don't know, Jinx and Tuner run a youtube channel where they test many things in Genshin and provide objective information about them based on the results of their testing. When i saw how incredibly disappointed and frustrated they were with Zhongli, i felt really, really sad. After all, they provide maths. Not only are they one of the genshin youtubers that i trust but they also study characters closely and tell you if a particular 5 star character is worth pulling for or not. And you guessed it, they concluded that Zhongli was NOT worth pulling for as a five star character because he is so heavily underpowered.

Then there comes the arguements presented.

Majority of people thought that Zhongli was going to be more of a support character rather than dps, and i could see why, but ironically he has more potential as a phys carry. And this information comes from the testing that Jinx and Tuner made.

However

Xiangling is still a better physical carry than Zhongli especially when you take into account the abilities she can use while attacking. Zhongli's pillar has questionable energy recharge generation, something that i too had noticed. Every tick of the pillar does NOT guarantee an energy, and it drove me crazy. Meanwhile you have Xiangling who can easily bring out energy with Guoba if she so wanted.

And you need C6 Zhongli in order for him to heal like Noelle too by the way. And Noelle is a 4* that is guaranteed on your first time playing the game. 👁

Zhongli's shield is good for sure, but then you have Noelle who can shield + heal. In terms of stuff being done, Noelle's is better. Zhongli's shield is strong yes, but it can STILL disappear after one or two hits from enemies (at least from our experience in higher AR. I have no idea if the same applies to lower AR).

Now for his meteor. Yes, his meteor is good. Not only is it spammable, but it deals great damage as well. BUT THEN you have Ningguang who can be a better burst spam and possibly deal more damage than his could do (remember, Ning has a lot of jades that could each deal 1k if built properly). The duration for petrification is 3 seconds too, which, a lot of people argue isn't enough time (personally, i have no problem with this since i do not mind it much). And apparently his meteor got nerfed because it does not increase geo damage and phys damage as it used to in the beta testing with petrification.

How about his ability in being able to break shields by holding E? Truth be told, i expected that he was going to be able to explode all shields in one go, but it does not work for every one of them apparently. Shields by hilichurls do break with just one E hold. But the ones by Mitachurls don't. I also tried breaking the Geo Hypostasis's pillar using his E hold and it did not break immediately. This could differ however. 👁 I'm still not sure if its because i have not properly built him right for breaking them or not. And about Stonehide Lawachurls... it's the same as the Geo Hypostasis pillar. The geo shield does not break immediately.

I'm not saying all this because i am mad at Zhongli. Rather, i am disappointed at what Mihoyo did to him. I am absolutely happy to get Zhongli. He is the one character i had been looking forward to for MONTHS. I saved resources in advance for him and even held off on leveling up my current team so i could dump all said resources on him when i get him. I stayed as AR35 for many many weeks because i wanted to level him up properly before ascending my World Rank. I think he is super fun to use especially with his burst and i absolutely adore the animation and when he crosses his arms and does his 'osmanthus tea' monologue at the most random times with his lil hand gestures. Even just listening to his voice while being idle fills me with so much happiness. There is so much joy in getting him. Which is why i am very disappointed at Mihoyo for how they butchered his character.

After Jinx and Tuner made their video about the results of their testing with Zhongli, i was genuinely saddened but i gradually came to accept the truth. It sucks, it hurts, but it is the truth. Even they said that they wanted Zhongli to be a GOOD character, but he is just insanely underpowered right now. You can invest resources into him and make him work, but compared to 4* and the other 5*, it takes so much effort. To make him decent, you'd have to level his stuff up so much but that also applies to four star characters and they perform better than him. Husbando > meta yes, but i gotta say that it still stings when my underleveled Xiangling and Fischl could do a much better job being a dps and support respectively than him when he's many levels above them.

Which brings me to the main point of this post.

Why was Mihoyo scared of making him strong? OP? Why did they nerf him so much? He is a 5* character Mihoyo, make him be STRONG at something. It's why he's a five star. But no. They watered him down so much to the point where even four star characters can do his own job better than him. His pillar doesn't even deal damage upon being destroyed just like Geo MC's. The range of his pillar's resonance is too small, and given the fact that his auto attacks can push enemies (except for the bigger ones of) or can be easily walked out of range to is 👁👄👁

And it deals criminally low damage. Like, why? Why not rack up the numbers? What is the problem????

The more i think about it, the more i can see the points that people have been pointing out. If the issue of energy generation with his pillar is RNG based, then that's simply screwed up. It already adds into the lists of problems that doesn't help with how underpowered he is. And as i am writing this post rn, there are lots and lots of Chinese players enraged about how weak he is as a 5* and causing HUGE fights in forums. People in the genshin subreddit had been debating again and again over heated arguements about his abilities. Even if you visit the genshin subreddit today and check every post about Zhongli, you will see people in the comments mention stuff about how he performs in the game and his abilities.

Mihoyo, give him a buff. I know that giving buffs isn't your thing, but there is honestly thousands and thousands of people expressing their disappointment and anger in how weak you've made him. He is a fan favorite. I love him. Majority of the genshin fanbase do. His character is really good and it hecking sucks that he is having major difficulties in fitting in on the game right now. He deserves better. Make him strong. Buff him. Adjust some of his abilities. Literally give. our. geo. dad. justice.

Those who don't care about damage is probably rolling their eyes at my rant rn but given how objectively weak he is compared to the other characters in game, it won't hurt if he gets a buff.

Tried out Alchemy Stars (JP server) since it’s basically Arknights but Not Tower Defense, which is why I couldn’t get into AK despite really loving the aesthetic.

Liking AS so far though! I like match-style systems; I played Sdorica for a while before the daily routine just got too tedious, which was too bad, as Sdorica definitely has one of the better gacha stories out there—really intricate in how they connected all the characters together.

Rerolled a bit before I got some characters that seemed interesting (unfortunately my social media accounts did not get good pulls so I couldn’t claim my Robyn):

I pulled Istvan today so I’m pretty pleased, as I gave up an account that had him but didn’t have any other noteworthy units. I have no Thunder supports and my Fire has no converters, but my Water team is pretty solid so this feels like GBF all over again (I did not choose the Varuna life, she chose me).

So far my favorite is Kleken, who is basically the Tentacle Guy, and even his profile alludes it: “I’m not sure what he’s planning, but I’m sure the little creatures he has hiding under his cloak will be of great help.”  Yeah...

Story feels a bit standard (in ch2 right now), but translation, other than some errors and a few mistranslations, is pretty solid, considering how there’s a lot of text—a lot, a lot of character interactions. I got a scene between Kleken and Hydrad (they Do Not Get Along) that was pretty long! So that was pleasant.

Music’s pretty decent too and the art direction is excellent. It’s also a purely PVE game, so at least I don’t have to get salty about not being able to keep up with meta. instead i get to salt about not pulling the latest cool waifu/husbando  Beyond that, seems like a decent side game, since the stamina system is definitely capped hard.  We’ll see how long it lasts!

Top Steven Universe Waifus

Continuing with my Waifu rankings, I’ve decided to go with Steven Universe since it ended recently. I will eventually do Husbandos too but there are a lot less males on this show who aren’t under-aged. I could also a non-binary spouse list for characters such as Shep but I’m not sure if there are enough of those (Stevonnie is kind of underaged).

While gems are born as adults, I still tried to avoid those who appeared juvenile or adolescent because I’d just feel weird talking about marrying someone who looks like a minor. Spinel looks and acts like a child, Aquamarine looks like she’s only 4 years old and as much as I love Amethyst she still looks and acts more like a teenager. But I don’t necessarily equate being shorter to being a child, as is the case with characters such as Peridot and Ruby.

10. Pearl-As lovable as Pearl is she does tend to get quite jealous. It’s somewhat justified though as the woman she loved for over 6,000 years dated other people and eventually left every part of her life behind to have a child with someone else. Pearl is very dedicated to those she loves though and would not dream of leaving your side.

9. Ruby-I mainly don’t have her higher up because she’s already very in love with Sapphire. Ruby is hot enough to evaporate water and set things on fire. She is also very loyal to her girlfriend and protects her from everything. I’d also have someone to read comics with.

8. Sapphire-The only reason I don’t have her higher up is because she’s also very in love with Ruby. But Sapphire is very beautiful and known to be a hopeless romantic. When she was playing baseball all she wanted to think about was her girlfriend.

7. Opal-We didn’t see her talk that much but that’s probably more meta (Aimee Mann not always being able to come on and voice her). But damn Opal can sing. Her voice is so gentle which is surprising when thinking of the gems that make her. Since she’s so tall and has four arms I just want her to hold me while singing to me. But not like a child of course.

6. Rose Quartz (Hippie)-I would never consider putting the main Rose Quartz on here but I loved the Rose Quartzes who were actually Rose Quartzes. I love the Hippie Rose the best because she offered a massage and is clearly flirtatious. So she’s into romance.

5. Peridot-She’s short but doesn’t have a juvenile or adolescent appearance IMO. Peridot is smart and nerdy and will binge watch shows with you. You can also bring her all of your technology to be fixed and she will create new items for you. Anybody who hurts your feelings will be called a clod. What isn’t there to love about her?

4. Bismuth-She’s hot enough to withstand lava. Bismuth is a very loyal Crystal Gem and is also a romantic. She cried at Ruby and Sapphire’s wedding and later showed interest in Pearl. So she is a lover as well as a fighter.

3. Lapis Lazuli-Just look at her. She’s so beautiful and she reminds of a mermaid. I love mermaids and water manipulators. I sympathize with her for the torture she’s endured but would be like Steven and show her the wonders of the world. It would be like “A Whole New World” except she’s the one flying me around. She does open up later on and becomes more pleasant to be around.

2. Yellow Diamond-Not just saying this because she’s clearly gay. She is very tough but I love that kind of ferocity in a woman. And we definitely see that yellow does have a soft spot. But above all else she is attractive.

1. Blue Diamond-My forever Waifu whom I consider to be my diamond. I sympathize with her the most as I can also cry a lot and while she did once want to shatter Ruby that was well over 5,000 years ago and she was the first to come around. Her new power of soothing with her clouds would really help me with my anxiety. But does that only work on gems?

Rest for the Wicked by jarvis_ismy_copilot - i’m biased. this was based on something very bittersweet i had thought up for A4 and honestly i just love how it turned out.

The Sorcerer's Request by MangoTea - stephen has tony make a buttplug and use it. it’s actually quite sexy.

Handy by merelypassingtime - honestly this is one of my favorite tropes, i guess you could call it, for stephen; having serious issues with this hands. in every day life, when trying to get intimate, all sorts of stuff. and this showcases it all perfectly.

Just an Accident by Cucumbersingold - another that i’m biased towards as it’s based on some of my meta. its angsty, but still very good. and super relateable to anyone who has ever been hindered by a disability, either mental or physical.

Rocket Science by orbingarrow - this one is WinterIron, but seriously its a damn good and fun fic with tony and bucky being in college. it’s one of those thats just so thoroughly entertaining i could re-read it again and again and never get bored.

Wave of Mutilation by old_blue - no ironstrange, just stephen. and aliens. lots and lots and loooooooots of aliens. and aliens fucking him. i’m also in love with their OC at-ye.

Parallel by old_blue - this is sort of a follow up/sequel to the previous one. it’s stephen and at-ye trying to figure out whats going on with this haunted bed and breakfast and it’s just... so good. they write stephen so perfectly in character and at-ye is amazing and ugh. i love it.

A Lapse in Judgement by Meshkol - this fic has a special place in my heart. this is how i met my wonderful babe, my magnificent husbando, my honest to god soulmate, my bdsm guru - rowan. i beta’d this for him and it shook me to my very core. i had no fucking idea bdsm could be like this. deep and emotional and mental and not even necessarily about sex at all - like theres a huuuuuge ace population within the lifestyle. anyway this story is rock fucking solid. a fucking fantastic look into stephen’s stressful as all fuck life.

So, just to clarify, there are three layers right now:

There’s us, the players. In a sense, we could be considered ‘equal but different than the tier’, but we do still operate on a plane separate from the metafiction of Tsumugi’s ‘everyone in the world’.

There’s the ‘audience’, the outside world. This is the space that’s been breached at this point. And this... this is the level where the students are from, too - aka the reason I think we and the audience should exist as separate entities.

And there’s the domain of the Killing Game, a space created to play out this story, using real people - a place separated from reality... how? If Tsumugi is talking about a set, it could easily be the real world, which means they’ve been isolated somewhere. At the same time though, when they managed to reach the end of the escape tunnel and saw the outside world, they all started to choke and suffocate. So... could this be VR still? Or no? Can these existences known as Shuichi Saihara, the Ultimate Detective, Maki Harukawa, the Ultimate Assassin, Himiko Yumeno, the Ultimate Robot, K1-b0, the Ultimate Robot, and even Tsumugi Shirogane, the Ultimate Cosplayer, leave this space in any way, shape or form... or not at all? Is them suffocating ^ like that a sign that they literally cannot exist outside of this space?

Just as I initially suspected, though - they really were normal when they got in. So how did they decide who got what personality/talent, or was that random? I mean, that might be the case - it was potentially hinted by the motive video switch of Chapter 2..

But..... in what sense? Like the 16 talents were stored in those lights and they were ‘picked up’ by the most suited participant? How could you make sure there were no doubles? Or - and this is possible because of the vague language - did the talents build on what the student knew already? In which case, how would they know what the talents would end up being and plan the labs around them?

No, it would... have to be... the first one. Talents had its own selection in the flashback creating machine, though without verifying what the subcategories are it’s hard to confirm or deny anything... but I also can’t shake what Maki said at the beginning of the game? How it felt like their talents were given at random?

Maybe it’s in contrast to Junko here, who has the overbearing destructive personality of a tornado, but the quiet emptiness and lack of a higher purpose, of absolute futility that he stands for here - that scares me a lot.   Maybe it’s just because it seems to bring the concept of DR’s despair to a place that I can personally understand?

From the outside that makes sense; seeing other people overcome struggles, even ones so terrible, give us the mental strength to overcome our own problems. But for someone on the inside looking out... how perverse would that feel, to think that your suffering is basically being used as inspiration!p0rn? Could you talk more abt double black’s romance coding if you don’t mind?

it’s just kind of a fun thing!! but anyway the fact is that there’s a lot of double entendre in all of their interactions, history, etc, to the point that as an author myself and also with the knowledge of particularly how the real life dazai osamu deconstructed heterosexual relationships…the character dazai’s relationship with the character chuuya also having such a…homoerotic edge in their dynamic, particularly in the way every fucking scene, line of dialogue, and visual imagery theyre portrayed in is very, VERY easy to pull a romantic double meaning out of…it’s just that to me as an author and by the way skk is written…like thats exactly how i would write a complex broken romantic relationship. 

the way i always put it is try to imagine if one of them was a girl - particularly chuuya, because chuuya absolutely fills in the “jilted lover” to the “cool anime husbando” stereotype. there would be absolutely no doubt that the two have canon sexual tension if one of them was a girl. like it would be known and talked about p openly that, yeah, they used to date/there is a romantic/sexual aspect to their partnership, if one of them was a girl!

to me also there are two types of ships - ships that are just fun dynamics and pairings (shinsou/kaminari, atsushi/akuutagawa, mori/the firey pits of hell where paedophilies burn); and ships that have plenty of canon romantic potential, double entendre, and/or romantic dynamic that i could actually see happening in canon (think kirishima/bakugou, korra/asami, lance/keith from voltron before s7). dazai and chuuya absolutely fall very easily into that second category. to me, dazai/chuuya is more than just “oh wouldnt it be cute if they dated”, it’s more “every time these two characters interact every single thing they say and do is a double entendre”.

the scene where they first interact is literally one of the most sexually tense things in anime ive seen in ages. the way they talk about each other and worry about each other in the double black episode is much more complex and heartfelt than the way kunikida and dazai are written to talk about/to and worry about each other. kunikida and dazai have been shown to be friends and also put trust in one another, yet still hate each other. but kunikida and dazai don’t interact with the sexual tension and romantic double entendre that dazai and chuuya have. for me as an author, that would be a perfect comparative technique to highlight dazai and chuuya’s nature as something more than just a running joke of  “every partner dazai has hates him”. in fact, if that even were a running joke you would know, because bsd loves to play up running jokes. but both of dazai’s partners hating him isnt meant as a joke, it’s meant as a point. literally dazai and kunikida and dazai and chuuya could have had a much more similar dynamic, with minimal differences but not so many/so dramatic in order to create a strong, bsd-style running gag and also a platonic dynamic between them. but by having kunikida hate dazai it literally stands as a comparative point against how chuuya hates him - because chuuya doesnt hate dazai in the same way kunikida does.

kunikida’s frustration with dazai is definitely more of a gag on the comparison between kunikida’s and dazai’s work ethic and personalities. chuuya’s frustration is constantly played down with the numerous times chuuya actually seeks out dazai’s affection AND is concerned for his wellbeing:

like idk if u know abt the whole sheep backstory with chuuya…but it would be perfectly reasonable to write chuuya as absolutely despising dazai. chuuya’s forced partnership with dazai is a representation of everything the port mafia did to him and his friends with sheep. yet chuuya is written as seeking out dazai’s positive attention and checking he’s okay? and this scene isnt about the port mafia and the agency - it’s about chuuya and dazai. oh, and again, some more comparison - akutagawa seeks out dazai’s positive attention, but it’s pointedly different from the way chuuya seeks it out. with chuuya it seems more about a comment on the complexity of how he feels not about dazai (as akutagawa does) but how he feels towards dazai (if you get what i mean??). akutagawa’s need for dazai to validate him is a primary motivator in the plot and in his character. compared to this, plus comparing the way kunikida and dazai interact in battle, slipping in the way chuuya and dazai express concern for each other when they interact in battle is….interesting. the warmest port mafia executive to dazai other than chuuya is kouyou, and that’s only because she is entrusting him with her surrogate daughter’s life - another primary plot point. compared to all this, it seems…somewhat domestic and pointless to have these little moments.

my final main argument for canon skk underlying romance coding is some of the visual “double entendre”. while dazai and chuuya havent exactly ever said or done anything explicitly romantic (such as kiss, admit explicit romantic feelings for each other, etc), a lot of the visual coding and the dialogue (particularly in the anime) is…pretty easy to interpret as romantic and sexual. i mean:

(dont mind the subtitles for this first one, what matters is the imagery)

(double entendre - how often do you use this in fiction outside of lovers quiffs?)

(like it isnt every day you see two anime dudes between each others legs lol)

(double entendre in this line) (also dazai doesn’t “reunite” with any other port mafioso. except maybe akutagawa, who has a dynamic just as complex but much less…”angry lover” dynamic and reunion with dazai. oh yeah. another comparison.)

like im just putting this entire scene from dead apple because it was so heavily visually romantically and sexually double entendre…like again. if one of them was a girl. dead apple is…a lot.

anyway some of this i know sounds like a reach but it’s honestly me just theorising from my own perspective as an author! this show is v complex and well-written, and so far there havent rly been any bits that are just…on accident?? everything is very purposeful. and a lot of the ways that kafka asagiri writes dazai and chuuya’s dynamic, dialogue, interactions, etc, are very much real writing techniques that i would use to write in a romantic pairing, especially a same-sex romantic pairing that i might not be able to be too explicit about and have to find ways to get around that. like im obvsly not saying that this is all canon and real and ive found a way into asagiri’s head, but ive just…noticed a lot of things and i think they arent rly…discussed too much in the bsd fandom?? which is disappointing cos soukoku is a rly well written and complex relationship and pairing that needs more meta!

There’s probably no companion I truly dislike, even if I have some problems with a few of them (like Alistair. Sorry, Alistair)Anyway, in no particular order:The entire cast of Dragon Age 2. I’m serious. This game grew immensely on me and, though I may still not call it my favorite of the saga (I would say Origins is), it certainly has my favorite story and characters. I don’t know wheter to include Hawke or not, cause they can be characterized however the player wants, but as an archetipe? I fucking love Hawke. Because they embody the tragic Hero of ancient Greece. They’re destined to fail, no matter what they do, because Fate it’s a force not even Gods can’t oppose.Ahem, sorry, my inner classicist geek is getting over me. But, all in all, DA2 has the plot of a greek tragedy.Anyway, back on characters, I would say I love Fenris the most, not only out of DA2 but out of the whole franchise. Something about his story resonated deeply with me and I love his possible recovery, it’s a powerful tale of a man, who was broken in all the ways possible, finding a new place in life and also people to connect with (my personal fav character development for him is him fighting alongside Hawke to defend mages, but I’m biased because the mage ending is my favorite).I repeat I really love everyone in this game, but I should also name Merrill and Anders. An action I actually condemn.But that action and his whole reasoning behind it made me fall in love with him because… damn, what a fucking masterpiece of tragic (and he too may be considered tragic as Greek tragedy Tragic now that I think of it) character he is.I’m not keen on the “Anders did nothing wrong” interpretation a big part of the fandom has of him, and I even reblogs some critical meta on him from time to time. But I truly find him grandiose as a character, in a “God, what a beautiful failure of a human being he is” kind on way (no offense to his fans).I just wish his rival romance was better written, orz.Moving on the other games.From Origins, I love Zevran the most. Second fav in the saga. What resonated with him is similar to what made me fall for Fenris, I guess I’m big on Former Slave Discovers Freedom (you’ll also see this with my third fave).Zevran also has this thing of hiding his feelings under a smiley façade that... uugh i really love.From Origins, I also Love Leliana, but I actually think I love her more in Inquisition, because I adore her as the scarred spymaster.Loghain is also a big fav of mine. Guess I love assholes who really believe, in their own fucked up way, they’re doing the right thing (for the record, I dont’ condemn him on his decision of leaving the battle at Ostagar. I am, however, really not ok with him selling elves as slaves).And then there’s Sten, the original husbando. I was so disappotinted when I learned I could not romance him, lmao.From Inquisition, the two that get me the most are Iron Bull and Solas.Iron Bull, I would say, is the third out of my absolute favorites, but Solas at this point may come right after him.Iron Bull was actually the first thing I knew about Dragon Age, so I’ve always been fond of him, lol. Then playing and romancing him made me fall hard. You know, Former Slave, and also a big softie and very inteligent and with hidden depths. I’m so interested in his background as a spy. You usually imagine spies as being small people that don’t realy look interestin, and here’s a giant, bombastic man with a huge pair of horns and an eyepatch. I love it.Solas. Here’s another Tragic character, and another asshole who actually thinks he’s doing the right thing. Bonus points for fixing a huge mistake by making an even bigger mistake. You go, Solas.And also, I’m in love with the fact he’s basically Loki. Love the trickster archetype. Super interesting.Now, this actually got super long. And tumblr is being an idiot and won’t let me do a read more. Apologies to you guys’ dashes. I’ll try to be brief with the ships.So, before Dragon Age, I wasn’t big on OC/Canon characters ships, but DA being a fantasy dating sim, they are a big part of what I ship now. For each OC/Canon Character, I have headcanons that may not fit with the vision some other fan has of that particulas ship, and that’s super interesting to me, I love reading different interpretations. But my headcanons are for another post. Maybe.Anyway, my favorite ships with OCs areZevran/Warden, Leliana/Warden, Loghain/Warden (unromanceable characters never bothered me anyway), Anders/rival!Hawke (I actually found the actual rivalmance a bit underwhelming in terms of writing, so my headcanons about are different), Fenris/friend!Hawke (bonus if Hawke’s a mage, because, again, I’m biased), Merrill/Hawke, Isabela/Hawke, Sebastian/Male!Hawke (also completely based on headcanons), Iron Bull/Inquisitor (bonus if Adaar but also Cadash), Solas/Lavellan (because I’m cliché) and Dorian/Inquisitor.

For NPC/NPC ships my favorite at the moment is Merrill/Fenris and I’m so alone in this, lmao. Everyone out there shipping fenders, which I can’t see at all (no offense) and here I am in my small boat, thinking that Fenris and Merrill are actually somewhat similar and if the huge, HUGE, wall of bloodmagic being the highest on Fenris’ list of triggers for very obious and very reasonable reasons, somehow becomes less evident, Merrill is the one mage outside of mage!Hawke who Fenris could actually trust (y’know, Merrill never once called him a beast - like Anders did). I want to write all the tings but nobody to tell *sob*.Also, Fenris/Isabela. Also, Merrill/Isabela. Also Fenris/Isabela/Merrill. Also, the three of them are my actual “canon” polyship with my main Hawke.Sebastian/Anders I like because of the twisted, and badwrong potential. So is Meredith/Orsino.Cassandra/Varric is another favorite, because I adore how their relationship develops and they would be absolutely the cutest.Then there’s Morrigan/Alistais as sitcom enemies.And last but not least, Krem/Cole. With potential OT3 with Maryden. Phew, I think it’s all of them. Thanks again for asking.

10 Fandoms, 10 Characters Meme

1. Dragon Age: Anders

If anyone is surprised, you haven’t been paying attention. But, without going into too much detail, him as a character helped me through some very personal issues I have, and I will always love Anders for that. Plus, my sister calls him my soul mate.

2. Ace Attorney: Klavier Gavin

Honestly, I probably would have said Edgeworth a week ago, but my nephew and I had a meta discussion about the series last time he was over, and I really saw how he was dealt this shitty hand in life, but he still is a good person and does the right thing I spite of that.

3. Game of Thrones: Sansa Stark

My mom calls my younger sister ‘her Arya’ and me 'her Sansa’ because she says they remind her of us when we were their ages. She was so proud of Sansa after last season and she gushed to everyone how Sansa reminds her of her daughter after seeing The Battle of the Bastards.

4. Fable: Reaver

He’s a grade A douche nozzle and I hate him. But I also adore him and call him 'Dad’. I will not justify his evil deeds, but I love watching him and I love interacting with him and his locations and quests are some of my favorites in the entire series. Plus, he serves as an interesting representation on how immortality in fantasy situations can lead to moral corruption.

5. Harry Potter: Hermione Granger

Make no mistake, the Weasley twins are my favorite character, but Hermione is such a strong, positive female role model, and perhaps even a WOC depending on your headcanon. I didn’t want to be a Hermione growing up, but now I realize that being compared to her is a compliment.

6. Naruto: Itachi Uchiha

I’m not in the Naruto fandom anymore, but when I was, I was all about Itachi. I still have a cosplay for him hanging up in my closet, I think. I don’t remember how exactly this happened, but Itachi was my husbando and I insisted he was a good guy before it was revealed that he was, in fact, a good guy.

7. Final Fantasy: Irvine Kinneas

Another fandom I’m not really big in anymore, but he was still my coyboy bf for a while (I like guys with ponytails, apparently). I absolutely despised him at first, but as more was revealed about his character and about how he’s not really confident, and he’s actually got self-esteem issues, is sensitive, and is a very loyal friend, I latched onto him. I still have a small figurine of him on my dresser.

8. Pokemon: Eevee

There’s a story behind my love of Eevee that has to do with my Eevee defeating the Elite Four by itself on my original copy of Pokemon Gold (it wouldn’t evolve into Espeon or Umbreon despite meeting the requirements, so I was punishing it). It’s my crowning achievement.

9. The Elder Scrolls: Sheogorath

He makes me laugh. Usually, if a character can make me laugh, they earn favorite character status.

10. Mass Effect: Grunt

I was so tempted to say Garrus or Thane. But, Grunt is my murder baby, and I love him more than anything. I imagine my Shep calls him her son and insists that Garrus is his step dad.
