Why I think Eden is probably definitely the Mastermind of drdt
Spoilers for everything up to Chapter 2 Episode 11 in DRDT and all of the cannon games (especially V3)
So, I've made quite a few fangan concepts in my time and think I know how to make pretty good mastermind characters. There are a lot of general patterns I've noticed with Eden that make me think that she's a mastermind.
I'm going to start with my weakest evidence and work up to my strongest evidence.
Weakest Evidence (basically just minorly suspicious shit that might have no basis)
She is the first person Teruko meets besides Xander
This one may seem random, but if I recall correctly, in V3, Tsumugi is the first character besides Shuichi that Kaede meets in the prologue. If Eden were to be the Mastermind, it would be an interesting parallel.
Her ultimate is based in proficiency with complex machinery and attention to detail
When building a mastermind character, giving them these traits through their Ultimate makes it easier to explain the construction and maintenance of the monobots and how to game happens without that much going wrong.
The Game and in universe show is called 'Despair Time'
A game called Despair Time with an ultimate clockmaker mastermind just sounds right to me. Also could be clever foreshadowing.
Medium Strength Evidence
Starting drama with Arei in chapter 1
Not 'inviting' Arei to the baking thing in chapter 1, while presented as an accident, also brought out the worst in Arei. It also started the chain of events that led to Arei wanting to be nicer to Eden. This eventually led her to being the victim in chapter 2. As a mastermind, Eden could have planned this in order to keep the game interesting and moving quickly.
Strongest Evidence
She is the ONLY one to actively defend Teruko in the chapter 1 trial
While this could be seen as a demonstration of her kind and naive nature, it is strange that she only brought it up during the trial.
Tumblr media
This line from Hu implies that a full group discussion took place, and that everyone was fully in agreement. Why would Eden only begin voicing her concerns about Teruko's side of the story during the trial? And while she does do the same for Min later on in the trial, this is after much more evidence has been stacked against Min, and is done much less insistently.
A mastermind would want to keep their game going, and the participants voting the wrong culprit in the first trial would completely ruin it. Her defending Teruko is not outside the realm of believability for the persona she puts on, making it not suspicious for her to do so.
The chapter 2 opening
The opening of chapter 2 is literally Eden monologuing to the camera. None of her dialogue is internal, as it is shown through white text, and we are likely seeing this from the canonical audience's point of view. I think it's weird that this is an outward monologue instead of an internal one. Unless you consider that someone needs to open this new segment of the show in context. And who would be best at it and know exactly what to say? The Mastermind.
Possible Detractions
Her emotional arc and heavy involvement in chapter 2
Masterminds are not usually heavily involved in cases or possible culprits, nor are they likely to have emotional arcs. Her involvement in chapter 2 does go against this trend. However, this is simply a trend and not a rule. It's entirely possible that Eden is an exception.
The Entire Literature Girl Insane mv
At this point, David is such an obvious mastermind red herring that I feel kind of sad for people who think he's the Mastermind. No one has their mastermind go batshit before they're revealed as the Mastermind. I do have a different theory about his role in the story that I think is more likely that I might share one day that I believe is supported by the LGI mv.
The Personal Reason I think Eden should be the Mastermind
Autistic Lesbians deserve to be a little bit evil. As a treat.
I am tired of getting all of my insane character representation in characters like David. I want to be able to tell people that I kin Eden and have them completely grasp that I am fun and nice but also a little crazy.
These are just my personal opinion and observations. Watch the Mastermind be like Arturo or something.

I feel like episode three fell a bit flat for me. Which was disappointing because it started strong: the opening scene with Tsubomi was great, the bits with Tome and Mezato were solid, and Shigeo’s mom evesdropping on him ✨talking to a girl✨ was really cute.
I think why I found this episode disappointing was mainly due to how over the moon excited I was for the monkey shirt, which IMO is one of the funniest gags in MP100 as a whole. Given their track record, I had high hopes for Bones’ generally excellent adaption skills.
Unfortunately they made some genuinely baffling decisions when it came to portraying the monkey shirt arc.
There are two scenes in particular where I thought the adaption was particularly lackluster: Teru’s “you’re really cool” bit and the shirt’s final reveal. Allow me to explain.
First let’s examine Teru’s bit from the webcomic. I’ve removed the dialogue because it's not very relevant to my point:
Tumblr media
90% of what makes this interaction so funny is the framing; it’s incredibly expressive. When I look at this page, I can easily imagine the way it would translate into animation: Fade everything out to a wide angle shot of Teru suspended in black space. He has a moment of dying-inside-surprise, an awkward laugh, a vaguely horrified expression that says ‘he’s serious?’
Cut to a high intensity closeup with a literal energy beam behind him. You can practically hear the SFX that would fit here. Finally, a reverse shot of Shigeo looking extremely average while surrounded by anime girl sparkle. This really drives home what Teru thinks of him: he is amazing and cool and special even if Shigeo may not believe it himself.
I saw somebody say that there’s a sense of desperation here, and I’m definitely inclined to agree. Teru’s desperate to convince Shigeo he really is very cool.
Hilarious, right?
Now let’s look at the way it was actually translated in the anime. Pretend you do not know who these characters are and ask yourself: how does the blond kid feel towards the black-haired kid? What might he be saying to him?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“You don’t like tapioca pearls, Kageyama-kun? That’s okay: we can get milk tea without them.”
This is just Teru being a Cool Guy. Where is the dorky intensity we feel from the comic?
And what’s with the reverse dick pic angle? What emotion is this supposed to convey? What impression was this supposed to leave me with?
Tobias • 4 months ago put it best:
Tumblr media
Also, look at Teru’s shirt in the comic. It’s loud. He looks like a washed up 30-year-old on his way to a disco. I understand why the animators made it solid--you’d have to be sadistic to demand they animate Swiss/polka dot fabric--but I feel like there was a missed opportunity here to at least make the shirt an uglier colour than brick red.
This energy difference can be seen again when the monkey shirt is finally revealed:
Tumblr media
In the comic we get the sense that Shigeo is walking through the park, and people are turning their heads as he passes. Then we get a full panel reveal from a low-ish angle, and the shirt is awful. We realise that this kid has been has been giving everyone an unobscured, 360 view of this offense against god since he left home. The story boarding conveys movement, and the low angle ONE drew here works because it clearly serves a purpose: to highlight Shigeo’s discomfort and doubt. Decent payoff given the literary/artistic medium.
Tumblr media
In the anime, Shigeo partially covers the shirt with a jacket (why?), and he’s already sitting on the bench for the reveal. It’s another static moment where the only real movement is the camera panning down. Shigeo is less exposed overall, and we never actually get to see the entire shirt. The way this is framed actually detracts from the comedy. I remember sitting there thinking, that’s it? All that buildup and this is the payoff? It’s so blah.
.
.
.
Anyway, that’s all I had to say and I don’t know how to end this rant so have this edited screenshot of the time I made myself laugh because of Reigen’s slurp

Supernatural Season 9
Tumblr media
Sam oh noooooo 😥😭
He really said lemme die in peace. But Dean won’t let him go.
OML the forces of Heaven and Hell really fucked up this man’s life.
Kevin survived season 8 - woo! I know he not gonna make it to the end tho 😑
Charlie’s still around too, but is she gonna make it to the bitter end 🫥
Crowley’s locked up - its about time honestly. He is long overdue for some karma after what he put poor Kevin through. I'd be happy about Abaddon giving him shit but she's no better.
Tumblr media
I know Dean did not just kick Castiel out😣🤬without so much as money or food or any necessities.🤬🤬🤬🤬
Tumblr media
Oh heeeeeeeeeeeeell noooooooo. That son of a bitch!!!!!! 😠😡🤬🤬🤬Poor Cas looked so devastated. Bendito. You could pinpoint the exact moment his heart broke in half.
Poor guy had to rough it on the streets all alone, you don't just do that damn. He could've just sent him somewhere to stay like a friend's or a shelter.
Sam was all dazed and confused he had no idea what was going on afterwards. Dean you can't keep lying!!!! This man is so dumb!!!!
Not the angel that saved Sam's life turning to be bad :/
UGH I hate Metatron he is the WORST! Why do people keep listening to such a jackass?! And what he doesn't have the stomach to do his own dirty work?
Tumblr media
KEVIN NOOOOOOOOOOOO
KEVIN - you deserved the best of everything! This one hurt me the worst y'all 😨😢😭😭😭😭
Is Dean allergic to good decision making?!?!?!?!!? After his latest fight with Sam, he fucks off and AGREES to work with Crowley? After everything the son of a bitch put him through? I knew nothing good would come of this. Dean was actually surprised that Tess died - I mean she chose to break the demon trap when she knew herself it was a bad idea. Now Dean has to deal with the mark of Cain 😤
I did find it interesting that the show decided to put a twist on the famous Cain & Abel story and how it echoed Sam and Dean's story. But there was no angel for Cain when he sacrificed himself, or his brother Abel.
Who knows how many other pairs of brothers throughout history were put in the same position across time? Cain and Abel were among the first humans…I don't think since the dawn of human existence it was just Cain and Abel then Sam and Dean. Not for a second. Especially with what we learn later…
Man Dean just gets douchier and douchier. With everyone, even Sam and Castiel. My God.
Abaddon died…yay? That Crowley son of a bitch. First he fucks Dean up, shoots up human blood ….recreatively? And strands his son out in present day despite the fact he was just in 1723. Will we even see Gavin again?
Man I really do not care for Metatron, I cannot wait till he dies. I mean I guess he’s pushing the narrative forward some but jeez what a douche.
Dean died nooooo
Then he became a demon…NOOOOOOOOOOOO
And he’s gonna be with Crowley
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Tumblr media
While the Dean and Castiel scenes got some good stuff going - Cas losing his powers and becoming mortal - why couldn’t he be picked up? The way these guys constantly drive around the country: If Dean really wanted to assure Cas was safe from any avenging angels post fall, he’s only a car ride away 😔
Anyway, kicking Cas out was a douchey thing to do but it made for good drama. As did having the two reunite a few episodes later.
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
There’s also the apology scene and them working together on cases, but after Dean gets the mark of Cain and Castiel gets pulled back into the angel stuff, their stories detract from one another. Dean does see Castiel again towards the end of the season but by that point he’s totally affected by the mark and Castiel is once again mixed up in angel shit so he doesn’t really get any quality time with Dean for more than half the season. It’s a shame because Dean probably could’ve used more time with his angel friend, given what the mark was putting him through. Oh, well.

C3E69 reaction
Nice.
(I am the millionth person to make that joke for this episode.)
Judging by the reactions to the recap, they took a break before this filming, maybe a week or two?
Starting off the reaction with a hot take, I'm very glad Matt described the pebbles and earth shaking due to Ashton's panic attack. I've mentioned this before, but Taliesin has for each of his PCs had them go off and have a panic attack, but never really roleplays it, or even describes it, instead just stating it. It's his RP choice, and knowing that he actually has panic attacks, may be something that he doesn't WANT to RP, but it's always bothered/disappointed me a little bit. He did the same thing, going off on his own, says he has a panic attack, and then doesn't really do anything with it, but Matt adding that description really really helped!
NEW ART NEW ART!!!! Big fan! I have figured out why I'm sliiightly off with Orym's new art, it's because that from what I can tell, if he lets his arms fully relax, the hands will reach his knees. The arms just seem a tiny bit too long to me. Aside from that, love it all!
I'm really interested to see where Ashton is going to go with their attempt at a new take of the viewpoint of their life. The outfit definitely has superhero-esque vibes, I'd be excited if he started going that way. No more real info on the titan-blood this time around, but hoping we get to the Shattered Teeth soon and get more info!
Liam being emotional, I think the length of the scene worked well. In the moment it felt a bit long, but Liam has also really been refraining from the big one on one conversations that he did with Vax and Caleb, so it didn't feel like it was taking too much space. This was the moment for Orym to really have moments focused on him.
Okay, everything about the hang-gliding scene was amazing! I REALLY need to stop looking at reddit, some people HATED this. I don't understand how, it was hysterical! Maybe slightly out of character for Laudna, it definitely had more of the Brjeaus feel, but it was so entertaining that I don't mind at all.
I'm still hit-or-miss with Delilah, sadly. Mainly because I didn't even feel that much about her in C1, especially towards the end, so I really don't have any feelings about her in C3. I want to see Laudna do something with this, though I don't have any hopes as to what. I just want SOMETHING more than ominous whispers.
...I did NOT expect Keyleth to go with them. I... don't know how I feel about it? I guess it makes sense, but I really don't want to be following the people from the other campaigns. I feel like she's just there for fast-travel at this point. When does Fearne get Transport Via Plants? 6th level spell, so normally level 11, for Fearne it will be level 12 because of the rogue level. I hope they rely on the staff more than Keyleth, but we'll see how it goes.
This entire Dancer bit just feels weird, because it REALLY feels like everyone, even Matt, forgot that we already had this entire conversation beforehand. It's very much a repeat of the emotions and conversation.
Ending with shithead....yeah. That works for this episode.
Final result - I laughed SO much this episode, and I really had a blast! Nitpicks listed above did not detract from my enjoyment at all. I'm not upset that they broke the episode 69 curse (especially because I don't really remember c1 e69, so never really registered the curse outside of the c2 episode!)

Hopefully all this stuff in the press about the pregnancy slows down and people stop taking notice. It would be a real shame for people to associate Pacino with this rather than with all the wonderful characters he’s portrayed so well over the years. It does seem like gold digging to me, and it comes across also (though of course I don’t actually know) that he just needs company in his old age (though why it couldn’t be with someone closer in age to himself I’ll never understand..) but I don’t want to make judgements. Anyway, all I’m saying - I just really hope that when people think of him, they think of his movies, not his partners.
Ahh, you got so many messages on this! It will calm down soon, I just know it. When Mick Jagger got his younger (she was 30-40?) partner pregnant, people freaked out about it for maybe a week then everyone just moved on. So here’s hoping the same happens here 💕
Oh, it will definitely simmer down soon enough. It can't remain a hot topic forever! 😂😅 I think it's all the more mind blowing because of the news of Robert also having a baby recently lol.
This really all comes down to "art" and the "artist". Do we want to focus on the artist's personal life we don't know very much about, especially in regards to his private relationships and let that dictate how we view him forever or do we accept that these things are happening and on the news but we love the art created by this talented person?
I don't know Al or anything about his relationships other than what's in articles, interviews and biographies but I also do get selfish golddigging vibes from this, I don't understand it nor do I understand wanting a much younger companion. Just a lot of ick, yuck, and blame to go around in this case. 🥴
I love Al and I love his movies. I've read some wild, interesting, funny and even concerning shit about him in biographies. "Life on the Wire" has a lot of details of his romantic life and attraction, the attention he received from women, etc, and a lot of things that just made my eyes bulge. I don't agree with some of the stuff Al says/does, but that doesn't detract from the wonderful qualities he does have and his acting prowess.
I've really gotten to the point (a long time ago, way before this) where when I watch one of Al's work, I can separate Al and his character very well without trying. Yes, Al is playing that character in a film, but I'm focusing on that fictional character and everything that they are, not the actor whose playing him at the moment. That's a whole other thing! And for those not interested or weirded/grossed out by any actor/actresses' personal life/gossip, I would recommend doing the same for peace of mind. 😂

for anyone who is not into metal gear, who is wondering how the fuck my queer military-hating ass got into what appears to be a military shooter series, allow me to explain:
the story of the games (i am mostly talking about mgs but the original 2 metal gears are probably the same) are very anti-military down the road, as in, "i trust and believe in the military, i am a good soldier, Oh No They Have Betrayed Me because the military is corrupt, i am now my own man fighting for my own beliefs"
on top of that, they take themselves seriously only about 50% of the time (mostly 2 and 3, but 1 and 4 have their moments and even 5 is occasionally a little cheeky). these games are very silly, and they know they are very silly. they also know how to deliver an emotional gut-punch that will leave you writhing on the floor. (looking at you mgs3, and side-eyeing you mgs4)
the plot may sound convoluted from the outside, and... well, it is, but probably less than kingdom hearts is. or maybe about the same. if you can handle kingdom hearts you can handle metal gear. either way, the 45-minute cutscenes are not just filler, they do genuinely try and explain everything. i'd say 4 is the most batshit, story-wise, but it also ties a ribbon on the story of the entire solid saga, so it's worth seeing if you like the other 3. (you are then free to disregard or fix as much as you want in fanwork, natch.)
the game does geek out over guns and mechs, i'm not going to lie. however it does not ask you to do the same. there is no mechanic wherein you must know the exact specifications of a gun to win the game. the game also uses a lot of military jargon, and also makes a bunch of shit up. however i personally found that context clues explained most things. suspension of disbelief is also wildly important.
the characters are good. that's it, that's the point of this paragraph. the characters are very good. they are over-the-top a lot of the time and the dialogue is often very hokey and the voice acting is sometimes particularly hammy, and i hear everyone but david hayter phoned it in for the gamecube remake of the first game, but it all spells out a cohesive cast of bozos whom i love.
are there issues? yes. david hayter was shitcanned for mgs5 and all surrounding materials because hideo kojima wanted a bigger name in his lead role, despite david hayter having voiced (almost) every snake in every english voiced game up until that point. (kojima claimed it was to make the game more serious, but the japanese voice actor did not change at all despite being equally hammy, and otacon's eng VA voices otacon's father in mgs5, so. make of that what you will.)
the series also does not treat women well. it tries to, sometimes, but it will still sexualize them in ways that feel demeaning, often detracting from the weight of whatever story they are trying to tell.
the aforementioned 45-minute cutscenes are also... kind of an issue. (they get longer, too, especially in 4.) like, some of us have things to do, kojima.
and of course, konami booted kojima from their company sometime during 5's production; say what you will about the man, but metal gear was his baby. (personally i'd have preferred they stop at 4 anyway, and kojima had tried to quit the series several times, but wiping his credits from 5's box and continuing to make the series without him feels scummy.)
there are other issues, things i've forgotten or didn't see fit to discuss at length, but at the end of the day none of this sours the series for me. (well, maybe everything post 4, but. not the rest of them.) i enjoy the story and characters and settings a lot, and... well, i watched my partner play them, so idk about the gameplay. but i was very enraptured watching, and have already written one fic and am working on another. (both otasune.) i will draw some things when i get my art mojo back, too.
so... i hope that explains it. i mean, i can see why it might appear to come out of left field from a storied fan of persona, but really, it's not that much of a stretch. i have a lot of reasons to be here.
...did i mention the overt homoeroticism? that's. that's there too.

Why does this blog exist
In truly a very autistic moment of my life, there was a time where I was strongly invested in all things heraldry. Of course, this later transitioned into vexillology. I am now not as invested as I was, but I forever will be full of heraldic and vexillologic thoughts because of that.
This meant that when it came time to question my own gender and identity, I couldn't help but be disappointed at some of the queer flags that are out there (I'm a demiboy but I find the demiboy flag incredibly underwhelming, for example). So naturally, my autism compels me to try to realize "better" versions of these flags. These aren't intended as actual replacements, they're mostly to satisfy my graphical needs, although some flags do desperately need it (everybody and their mum has tried to come up with a poly flag alternative for a reason).
So in this post I will be describing the guidelines I will follow and try to respect when coming up with redesigns. And I will also be using these to comment on flags that I consider are good and do not need them.
For me (and many other vexillologist), a good flag is one that follows these hard rules:
It is a simple design, easy to draw from memory, even for a kid (no complex shapes or complex coloring, like gradients)
Distinct at a distance, and/or waving in the wind (no intricate details)
As few colors as possible (makes printing easy, and helps with the previous point)
Another soft rule I like to throw into the mix, even though some flag design enjoyers will get mad at me for, is the rule of tincture, from heraldry. It's not a must follow, and it's not an enforced flag rule (after all, this existed partly because there were very few colors available for heraldic shields, and flag printing doesn't have that physical restriction anymore), but many flags do descend from heraldic shields, so many flags inherently follow those rules, and so I think it's nice to have when possible.
There's yet another guideline I would like to respect when coming up with alternatives, and this is something unique to LGBT flags:
Now, one thing that can't be overlooked is the iconicity of the rainbow flag. It's a flag that has way too many colors for a flag (and the original version had even more), but I think it works because the rainbow is just something that everyone is familiar with; and because of the very nature of the rainbow, the colors lead gently into one another, avoiding ugly clashes. Good job!
This same iconicity has led people to associate horizontal stripes of colors with queerness, and so many flags that have been proposed after it, have also followed the template of "many colored horizontal stripes"; but since those aren't "The Rainbow" anymore, I think it works against the flag and detracts from the simplicity and distinctness points. Many of these alternatives also only have like 2 or 3 actually distinct colors, with intermediate tones between them, like a pseudo-gradient. (The only other queer flag design "innovation" has been the side triangle, for when stripes are not enough, or when, understandably, someone tries to make a flag that isn't just yet another striped flag.)
Personally, my cutoff for how many stripes is too many is at 5. If you have more than that, there's a high chance that the flag could be simplified without losing distinctness.
I also think we've reached a point where there's enough identities that just doing horizontal stripes for everyone is not enough to keep them distinct, and that it can't hurt to take a page or 2 out of the design book for more traditional flags.
However, having a consistent graphic language across flags isn't inherently a bad thing. Many existing country flags do share visual elements with surrounding countries because of the shared history and cultural elements represented by these common visual elements. So I won't go against the common "horizontal stripes" pattern just for the sake of hating on the pattern unless necessary, because I do find some merit in it. I just think we can do more.
I will tag all my posts with my URL so if you find this kind of posts annoying (which is understandable), feel free to mute. I will also be posting these in my cohost page of the same name, since Tumblr seems hellbent on killing their own social network just like everyone else is doing

Do you know smtg about why the character design for k&7 stories different from K S1, KMK, and K S2? It's so hard to watch it TT. I like the story but at the same time the design make me sad. Somehow it look hilarious. I need the elegant design back.
I feel you anon, the 7 Stories art style makes me sad too -_- I blame GoHands for this one, the more rounded style seems to be the 'house style' that they're going for and honestly I don't think it works at all (I watched Project Scard and the animation had the same issues, I'm told Handshakers was even worse). My general feeling is that GoHands wants to be known for the cool, slick style that the first season of K had...but that's expensive, so they didn't want to do that and thus have been slowly working their way towards basically 'budget K.' You can kinda tell watching the series how even in season one the budget seems to be decreasing a but towards the end but they mostly manage to cover it well enough using tricks that are common in anime – the big battle between S4 and Homra at the school, for example, is largely done via panning still shots of people fighting rather than actual movement, and there's some re-used animation with Fushimi and Yata fighting that was taken from episode 5 but it's not hugely noticeable. Missing Kings as a movie seems to have gotten a bit more budget but there's still some reused animation there, most notably I distinctly remember Yata falling off his skateboard and then doing the breakdance move to get back up which was taken from episode 5. ROK is where they start to go a bit more on the cheap, the look isn't quite as bad as 7S but everyone's eyes I think are a little bigger and their faces a bit rounder, and there's a lot more obvious reused animation to the point that for me it dd occasionally detract from the episode – specifically in episode 12 and the S4 Big Damn Heroes moment, having the alphabet squad rush in with animation that we just saw back in episode one I think really made that moment a little less of a 'hell yeah' than it should have been.
Then in 7S we basically get the final form of unfortunate animation, where everyone has giant anime eyes and the designs look a little flatter and some of the backgrounds look really off. I couldn't get through more than one episode of Handshakers but I've been told that series had a particularly bad habit of having characters standing on computer generated backgrounds where they didn't look quite on the same plane as the places they were supposed to be occupying and while I don't think 7S is terrible on this some of the backgrounds are just mystifying. Fushimi's house in LSW in particular is coming to mind here, there's a shot of Fushimi talking with Kisa and behind them are these absolutely gigantic arching doorways that are like doors for elephants and like I know they're rich but why does it look like they live in a museum (Scard also does this with the weird backgrounds and it's even worse, because it's supposed to take place in this lawless rundown area and the main character is supposed to be scrambling to survive but apparently he lives in an IKEA catalog. The cafe also has these really weird shelves and just a general nonsensical layout that honestly made me appreciate the look of Bar Homra even more). I don't think there was any real intentional change in style in the sense of 'we think this looks better,' I really think the change was just GoHands being cheap and trying to ape the much more successful style of S1 but without any of the budget behind it.

I'll admit to having a Problem with br1dgy deeming Team Expanding Acronym's suggestion to continue the Mantle evac & hold the line while calling Vacuo a 'terrible plan'. I mean, it seemed feasible enough right up to the point where Salem rolled in with the city-sized siege whale, *still* beats *leaving the laborers,* and Cinder was already up there, so the 'raise Atlas out of theoretical Grimm reach' thing doesn't really guarantee relic security either.
(For others' reference, anon is referring to this post (link) I recently reblogged (warning: that post is *very* long!))
Yeah, I'm ngl, that point was the major reason I said I agreed with *most* of the points made, not all. I just didn't rly wanna point that out that moment bcus
a) it was a post nearing two years in age that I didn't rly wanna stir the pot about
b) I worried it was kinda nitpicky considering the fact that I agreed with the major points in that series of posts, so bringing it up risked detracting from those main points, and
c) at that point in time I had few coherent thoughts to put down in a way that would make sense anyway
But since you brought it up...
The points in that post that I would dub the "main points" that I agree with are as follows:
Ironwood is a tragic character due to being a villain of his own creation
Atlesian society is horrifically damaging to just about everyone who grows up in it; Ironwood was no exception, which is also smth that lent to his spiral
During the confrontation in Ironwood's office, nobody was entirely in a position to negotiate. Ironwood's PTSD (and probably his Semblance) was kicked into high gear, and his decisions were all but made. RWBY were running ragged and exhausted from their efforts during the evacuation, and as a result were unable to reach Ironwood and convince him to at least find a middle ground
Ironwood's true point of no return wasn't when he declared martial law, or he deemed RWBY and co enemies of the state. It was when he attacked Oscar, who was actually in a position of theoretically being able to negotiate with him, that he crossed the line that he couldn't be pulled back from
All of this being said, the way Ironwood's arc was executed was imperfect, and could have greatly benefitted from having a bit more time sunk into it. (Mostly, I personally wish they had an in-show conversation about his Semblance and how it affected his spiral.) Altho, I understand that CRWBY does not have an infinite budget, so the fact that they didn't is smth I can get
But circling back to your original ask, I agree with you. RWBY and co's plan, while it had its kinks that there was only limited time to work out, was imho an overall better plan than Ironwood's. Going off the information they currently had, there was little (rational) reason to believe that raising Atlas at that very moment was the right choice, for the exact reasons you mentioned
I feel like for me the main issue with that point isn't necessarily the argument itself (I respectfully disagree with it but I can still see the train of thought ppl may have approaching it) but the (imo) strong language of referring to RWBY and co's plan as "terrible". (And this is why I felt my comments on it may have been needlessly nitpicky and why I didn't comment until prompted)
Like I said, yeah, their plan may not have been perfect, but tbf? They didn't exactly have a lot of flexibility to adjust to the new threat level accordingly and in a timely manner, which was why they wanted to keep going as they were until they could get to that position
Now, Ironwood's plan? That's worse. To echo and add onto your points, they didn't know exactly how close Salem was or how fast she was approaching at the time, so to assume that it was already too late was presumptuous; raising Atlas immediately would not only leave countless innocents behind that could have been saved, but all it would do was maybe buy some more time... which wouldn't rly matter, either due to Salem just flying up there with Monstra immediately, or due to Salem's immortality allowing her to use Atlas's isolation to her advantage and chip away at the rest of the world until only Atlas was left and *then* go for them, but either way there is no guarantee that it will be enough time to buy considering Atlas's isolation would make it difficult to obtain necessary materials; and someone already had to be up there to place the Black Queen (who we knew were Cinder and Neo), so all it would do is isolate Atlas with the enemy. So yeah, there's rly no way to win with the "raise Atlas *right at this moment*" plan imo
Now, to be clear, Ironwood's side not having much long-term practicality (I don't deny that it may have had *short-term* practicality for Atlas (but not Mantle obviously), but the questions of "How long will this last?" and "How far can we go before the ends no longer justify the means?" are very important, and the answers don't look good for Ironwood) was like. Kind of the point. He's *not* thinking rationally rn. And I think maybe a lot of ppl in the FNDM viewed him as this level-headed general who fought for the greater good, and had a hard time seeing how that deteriorated until it was too late
But point being, the word "terrible" for the protags' plan is a bit harsh imo. Especially when comparing it to the worse plan that Ironwood had
Another little point I disagreed with (also nitpicky due to its relation to word choice) is the statement of another user on that post that Blake and Yang's decision to reach out to Robyn was "dumb". Again it just feels kinda harsh to me, yes, even taking into account the fact that Blake and Yang did not know what to expect from Robyn's reaction at the time. I mean, maybe "naive" (and contrary to what seems to be a common belief [nobody here] dumb =/= naive, there's more nuance than that)? But I don't think I would personally call it that
Actually, I think it indicates smth much different that *Blake and Yang* of all characters chose to tell Robyn the truth bcus of their trauma-induced trust issues...
But ykw? I've been going on about this for a while and I think the post is starting to derail from its intent lol. I can expand upon on the Robyn thing on request if anyone's interested but I think I'm talked out for the night. Thanks for listening to my rambling

sa fic rec list [non-eng] pt 2!!
1) About Pirates Who Tell Tales by Hattis
https://ficbook.net/readfic/9819431 russian - complete - M rating - 551 pages
i don’t think i can do another russian section without paying homage to this giant of a fic so. yea let’s do that.
want to preface this by saying yes, it is very long – it is also very worth it. my favorite part of the whole story is the second epilogue, and you really need the context of the whole fic thus far to take in what makes the scene so good, which means. yes. i am telling you to read all of it AND its worth it a promise. even if it takes a long time.
the au is like.. historical real-world i suppose?? it’s a pirate au y’know how those go. not-one-piece pirates. i’m sure everyone has thought abt it more than once. imo this fic does a rly good job of not glossing over the goings-on of the era it depicts. when Hattis wants you to think someone is cruel and savage she really gets the point across. also REALLY good at depicting highly emotional moments, whether it be hopelessness, panic, despair, devotion, salvation, whimsy, heartfelt joy. i think it’s fair to say everyone gets what they deserve by the end, be it in a good or bad way.
there is so much uhhhhhh that goes into this one and it has been a minute since i finished it so this is a bare-bones summary: ace is a pirate under the flag of another, and sabo is an english nobleman. by birthright they both follow in the footsteps of cruel legacies, and become more and more entwined each time their paths cross.
this fic rly chews you up and spits you back out as a different type of whole. in a good way. like, i promise reading it is not gonna break you. it gets tough at times but everything works out :’)
before this gets too long one final tidbit: there is so much symbolism at work and it all culminates so well but my favorite one (and the one that connects w my favorite scene in the whole story) is that ace’s beaded necklace is made from blood pearls, and was (if i’m remembering correctly) his mothers before his own, and he and sabo pass it back and forth to each other over the course of the fic as a tangible sign of their devotion to each other.
2) life [i’m glad i’m alive] and life [1+1=1] by normal_q
cat’s pov // ace’s pov thai - complete - G rating - 12k (p1) + 11k (p2)
a duo!! they are both the same story, just altered c: it doesn’t matter which you start with, so i’ve linked them in publishing order.
i spent sooooo loooooooooong last year looking for these and failed because i was searching for it in the wrong language. stumbled upon the pair by chance earlier this year and saved them immediately. i didn’t think there were two and the fact they’re in thai completely tripped me up (sn: there are so many sa fics in thai but all the translators i’ve tried to use won’t recognize the symbols and when translated into eng come out as a wall of ⊠⊠⊠. idk why ao3 is different but it does it correctly so!! saving grace ig) but i am so glad i found them again.
in the story, there is a human sabo and a cat sabo. human sabo is overseas and him and ace have a long-distance relationship. cat!sabo is a recent addition and a pretty good insight to ace’s loneliness. about the day-to-day lives of ace and cat. (another sn: there’s a death warning in the first link bc it’s alluding to the nine lives of a cat, as this is cat!sabo’s ninth “life”, so there is no actual death involved promise promise!!!)
this pair of fics is really charming and filled with melancholy. if you have time to spare i highly recommend giving one of them a go. it’s a quick read and leaves you feeling warm inside by the end.
3) idiot couple’s house record by Wirola
https://archiveofourown.org/works/26487442 chinese - complete - M rating - 8k
this one is SO cute!!! also bittersweet but that doesn’t detract from the fluff. it’s modern au, starting at the beginning of the pandemic when the area sabo and ace are living in goes under quarantine and they have to cancel their wedding ceremony :[ sad.
it follows their lives together from that point onward, with sabo working long hours from home and ace stuck at home. it’s super cute and heartfelt and also just. realistic. you really feel feel for them as the story progresses. like, at one point ace stages a “wedding” in animal crossing to show sabo only for him to get a call from work and be stuck with it and not get done until long after everything is over. and the next day has my favorite line and probably one of the most heart-wrenching of the story: “Sabo thought resentfully in the dim light of the computer screen, it's none of my business, I'm just a garbage doctor who delays people to death with useless conversations, so garbage that I can't even save my marriage.”
it doesn’t end sad tho i promise all of these are good, happy endings aaaaAAA!!! still, i think when you’re supposed to feel depressed, wirola does a tremendous job of putting you in that mindset.
the second half is more lighthearted. ace gets a vr headset and keeps getting hurt, so sabo buys a bunch of childproof equipment for the house in the hopes of preventing injuries and forwards the bill to a coworker for reimbursement, and said coworker... misunderstands and rants online that sabo and ace have a baby before her, which is completely unfair. misunderstandings galore. garp sends luffy halfway across the world to see them w gifts and meat following the false “news”. everything works out in the end.
this one def makes you laugh and cry all in one sitting. worth it tho!!
4) couple’s travel hotel guide by SiebenL
https://archiveofourown.org/works/29556993 chinese - complete - T rating - ~7k
i really love fics that are formatted in sections like this. it has been too long for me to remember much, so i reread it before adding it so i could ramble a little more. and. yeah. i can see why i had it on the list.
siebenL writes a lot of interesting premises in fics and this one hits the spot. it jumps all over the place in the lives and relationship between professional photographer ace and (on the side) blogger/hotel reviewer sabo. i don’t think sabo’s (main) profession is really ever defined? something to do w/ writing. not that it rly matters.
the formatting is overall what does it for me on this one and why i’m putting it above all other of siebenL’s works (at least for the list!) it bounces between present, reviews + comment section, and past interactions. if sabo has some notoriety, he blogs anonymously, because it’s unknown. meanwhile ace is a popular photographer for a famous magazine, and it’s fun to see all the hints to such unfold with each review. (: sabo attaching ace’s photos to reviews to counter his own (incredibly mediocre) shots, and ppl in the comments connecting the dots on who his friend A is after the (second scene’s) most recent review by going back thru older entries.
also, like always, the way siebenL depicts ace and sabo is so fantastically good. (if you like this one i high-key recommend you check out other works of theirs ! ) both of them meet after exchanging notes thru a homestay’s message (cork)board because they never have the same timetables to be in the building at the same time, until the very end of both of their stays, when they run into each other by chance. and then it goes from there!
5) Arctic Lovers by Ryo
https://pattco863.postype.com/post/9632169 korean - complete - T rating - 1k
admittedly all of ryo’s sa works are good, but since this is the first one i read uhhh quite a bit ago now, i have a particular soft spot for it. the prose is very lyrical and sweet, and even though it’s not too long, i definitely think it’s worth checking out.
it’s mostly sabo’s internal musings about living somewhere cold with ace. along with a little insight into their life together. short and soft and sweet and everything ever. if you don’t feel like committing to something longer, then out of everything on this list, pls give this one a chance :) and if you like ryo’s writing, go check out the rest of their works too.
6) we love you! by Wings of Freedom
https://sperospara.postype.com/post/6648591 korean - in progress - T rating - ???k
this is a series, and the first work of ten is linked above, so here is the series link. (also postype doesn’t do wc and i am not rounding up each part individually so like uh best guess is 15k+)
although it’s not complete and i didn’t get a chance to re-read everything recently, i think from what i remember it can read as completed. meaning. there aren’t any loose ends, so it’s just a matter of not being everything the author wanted to write. anyway, point is, please don’t let the incomplete status scare you away !!
the story is about ace, a (1st yr) criminal justice major, and sabo, a pre-med student, moving into the same residence together right before the start of the semester without knowing the property has been rented out to both. they clear the misunderstanding fast, decide to split the house between 1st floor and 2nd floor, and begin their first year of living together while attending university.
when i first read this work i flew through over half the series in one day and swept by the rest of the parts relatively quickly following that. something about the author’s writing style makes it all really easy to digest. the setting was a cool change too, since i’ve never read a sa work set in korea before! and just. them. they’re so heartwarming and the way they realize their feelings for each other gradually and forming conclusions about each other and going for it is all really sweet. cannot recommend this one highly enough.

ace and the amazing not-technicolor dressed to kill/alive costume(s)
in my salad days, i was a cosplayer (in my uni days, i was a theater minor), and one of the things i like doing is looking over the kiss costumes to get an idea of the construction/materials/etc. some are a lot more obvious than others. but it’s also neat as you look into all the iterations of individual costumes for a tour or tours.
there’s a fantastic overview of really everyone’s costumes (in makeup, sorry; unfortunately, no one’s made an exhaustive review of bruce’s myriad bedazzled BK tops or paul’s fringed lysol gloves yet) on this site, but i really wanted to take a look at ace’s ‘75-early ‘76 costume, which they’ve covered a bit here.
there are more versions of this costume than are listed here. i’m honestly a bit curious as to why he had so many alternate versions. ace’s costumes were fairly cheap to make at this point, so that may have factored in to the amount of changes. i have some ideas, but let’s take a look.
Tumblr media
this one isn’t listed on the site as one of the versions of this costume, but it is. his pose doesn’t really do him any favors here, but this version isn’t exactly flattering. in my non-professional opinion, looking at a nearly fifty-year-old photo, i think that the (uneven/wavy) lightning bolt design is probably an iron-on vinyl cutout. not knocking it-- it’s a convenient way to get a nice lineless look-- but with the severe wear and tear of being on the road, the chances that this could be cleaned well without peeling off (or avoid peeling at all) are pretty low.  i like the way the comets reverse. the zipper’s very visible here, and the way they silver piping goes down the collar isn’t as flattering as it probably looked on paper.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(hi, jeanette!) this is what the fansite lists as the first version of the costume. you can see in this version (and the ones following) that the lightning bolts are  sewn-on appliques; they’re also padded. the trouble with the appliques is that they’re not very smooth or precise (if you look at too many pictures of these, you’ll notice that they never line up completely evenly), and there’s bunching (again, stretchy material and it is difficult to work with it and make sure it looks nice!) it looks like the sleeve stretched out when he kept rolling it up. but what kind of confuses me is the lack of silver piping on his left sleeve in the first picture. was the piping only velcroed on? (kind of unlikely, to me, given how it’s not too thick. it’s not impossible that it’s snap-on) a mystery....
Tumblr media
holy seam puckering, batman! sewing zippers is a pain, and sewing zippers onto spandex or anything with stretch is an even worse pain. you can see the puckers on a lot of pictures of this outfit (regardless of version). the length of the zipper in this costume would have helped considerably/been necessary for getting in and out of it, but it does pose some aesthetic drawbacks.
so, why do i think he went through so many iterations? here are my theories.
1) i don’t think he was fond of the sleeve piping/cuffs/whatever you want to call them. he keeps rolling the sleeves up, and there’s even a version with shorter sleeves.
2) the visible, long zipper could detract onstage/in pictures, keeping the look from being as streamlined and clean. i think this is why most of his later costumes (minus elder) went back to chestpieceland/vestland-- it hides the zipper.
3) trouble with the lightning bolts. against the black leotard, even tiny differences in the shape/sizes/placement of the bolts (particularly at the front of the costume) are very obvious, because that’s where your eye immediately goes.

Having consumed all Scott Pilgrim media that I can in about a month, the new show, the movie, and the comic run, I feel especially capable in what I am about to say.
While all three tell similar variations on a single story they each work so well on their own and don’t rely on the other mediums to work. Knowing that the exact same cast who did the movie also voiced the show adds to some jokes, not knowing wouldn’t detract. With that though, what a fucking cast! Even in 2008, what a god damn cast. And to pull them all again for the show. Holy shit. Plus the new cameos. Just really good stuff.
What the show does, being that it’s an alternate timeline of sorts, gives us some great changes to characters and their relationships. My favorite change being Knives. She’s a central figure in the story previously but kind of got a a flat ending. There’s growth but all in relation to Scott, instead of finding her own thing. She get’s the best new storyline. Her musical ability and then the creation of and pitching the musical. Excellent. Give much needed growth and depth to this character that was used as like a weird prop and wedge in the comics. It got kind of icky at one point which I like that they didn’t do that again.
I love that everyone is dumb or does dumb stuff. Obviously Scott and Young Neil. But everyone has very dumb moments. Just a stupid face when asked a simple question, unable to understand what’s going on. It makes the show and series funny. No one is Sherlock or even Columbo.
I do wish we got more Kim in the show. She’s integral in the comic but I get why this arc doesn’t rely on her as much. The show is about Ramona which the others weren’t. Which is what makes the show so different from the movie and comic. This is the story of how Ramona wins over her Evil Exs. Not Scott needing to beat them. Closure.

You don't have to answer this, it's not really a question but more of a message for you and I chose here because I didn't want to feel constrained by twitter's character limits.
Your socmed au's that you post on twitter are some of my favourite things ever. You're a master at the art form, conveying so much information and a full, rich story through what is essentially an artificially limiting medium (compared to 3rd pov fic for example). I'm always amazed at how you find ways to enrich the story with all the various chats and posts and so many little carefully chosen details. Also, your characters are just so spot on, sometimes I wonder if you're actually Changbin or Seungmin or maybe one of the manager hyungs or noonas.
I want to promise you that I am never actively waiting for an update, sitting around drumming my fingers, wondering why distantbluesky hasn't posted recently. That has literally never happened. Rather, every time you post an update it is like a delightful and unexpected surprise that absolutely makes my day. A little package of joy specially made for me, a gift that you have given me freely out of your love for the kids and this community.
It is not hard for me to keep up, even when there are sometimes days between posts. It's easy for me to skim the last tweet and then I'm immediately back in the story, ready and excited for the new update.
I feel like you give me so much with all of your stories and esp these socmed ones, which I can only imagine how much time it takes to make all these screenshots with the right timestamps and all the photoshopping and and and... I wish I could give you in return the peace of mind that there is no pressure to post on any kind of schedule and we will all be here, happy and excited, whenever life gives you the time to be able to post. (I also hope you'll mute any users that request updates or pressure you to post - I've seen that in some of the comments but I think it's really only one or two people and I wish I could mute them for you, I think they are very young and don't understand that what they're saying isn't a compliment).
Lots of love
oh my god <333333 I read this message and immediately screenshotted it to save forever because I know on rainy days reading this will be such a mood boost. yesterday was a hard day, and reading this message truly made it so much better. thank you so much for taking the time to send something so thoughtful and kind.
this both is extremely reassuring and just such an extremely kind thing to say. I am genuinely so glad to hear that you're able to jump right back into the story despite delays, that it isn't hard to follow, that my posting schedule hasn't detracted from the story. that was something I was extremely worried about, and I am genuinely incredibly reassured to hear that that's not the case for you. obviously since I'm the one writing it, it's really easy for me to remember everything that happened and follow the narrative journeys, but I worried that this wouldn't be the case for everyone reading it, so this is genuinely a huge relief. I'm so glad.
I also thank you for pointing out the extensive amount of work this takes!!! I've gotten the hang of it, but truly the ratio of "time it takes to write a social media au post" versus "time it takes to read a social media au post" is devastating alkajsdf;laskdjf;lasdjkl it's just.... it is a labor of love for sure and I've gotten the hang of it and am having a great time, but it is a lot of work. and you noticing the specific details I put into it really means a lot. deciding on timestamps, thinking about photo choice, making subtle callbacks and running jokes does take a lot of thought and consideration, as does, of course, the main challenge of a social media au: how to tell a compelling emotional narrative while getting no direct line of sight into the character's heads and also not being able to show SO much on screen. it's a really challenging thing, and I'm genuinely very proud at how I've tackled it!!
writing these aus has been such a good thing for me- I have never harbored any illusions that my prose fics are that impressive (I promise this isn't fishing- just awareness of my own limits as a writer) because there are a lot of things about prose stories that are tough for me based on some of my limits as a writer. social media aus are a great medium for me, though, because they remove the things I find extremely tough about prose fics (DESCRIPTION mainly a;ldjfalksd) and what's left is the stuff I feel pretty confident in- dialogue, humor, emotional beats, that kind of thing. I think I've found a good niche. I want to return to prose fics at some point and definitely have plans to, but aus like this really work well for me and bring me a lot of joy to create.
but seriously, thank you. as you said I don't really get a ton of comments telling me to update, so I can ignore them pretty easily, but I do tend to feel guilty when I don't post on a regular schedule (even though the reasons for it have been because of work OT and dealing with a very challenging personal situation and are completely understandable- though obviously even if the reason was 'eh not feeling it' that would be valid too!!) and worry about people losing interest. I'd keep the story going until the end even if no one was reading it, don't get me wrong, but it is really nice that so many of you have stuck around and are as invested in this story as me :')
okay this is SO long but you seriously made my day with this, truly. thank you so much for messaging me this, it means the world. I'm very excited to spend the rest of the weekend writing, because getting lost in this story is so lovely, and I'm just so glad that you're having as good of a time as me :') I truly appreciate this more than I can say, you are so lovely, thank you so much.

Artist of This Week : bEAu
Hello everyone, this is SELLBUYMUSIC, a royalty-free stock music library!
We've brought an interview with this month's artist, bEAu!
[image 1] Introduction of bEAu - Sellbuymusic artist
https://en.sellbuymusic.com/musicDetail/24682
Q1. Please introduce yourself. What genre of music do you mainly produce?
A1. Hello, I'm bEAu. Currently, I'm working as a drama background music composer and bEAu is my stage name. Since I mainly work on drama background music, I don't really stick to a specific genre when composing. When I release my own albums, I tend to produce more ambient and minimalist music!
I think it's influenced by the artists I like. The reason why I started making video music was also because of the artists I admire. When I work on dramas, I have to write songs even for genres I'm not familiar with, so the concept of genre has become less important to me. ^^;;;
Q2. How did you come to know about SellBuyMusic?
A2. While preparing for the drama 'Hyena', I happened to discover Sell Buy Music while looking for music references. In the United States, there are many library companies like Sell Buy Music that are widely used in the drama industry, and I happened to come across a Korean library company during this opportunity.
Q3. Are there any artists or songs that inspire you?
A3. There are two artists who gave me the biggest inspiration to do video music. One of them is Olafur Arnalds from Iceland, and the other is the world-renowned maestro Ryuichi Sakamoto, who recently passed away.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Both of them always give me great influence and inspiration. It's hard to pick a song that inspires me because they have so many hit songs, but if I have to choose, I would pick "Ólafur Arnalds - Ágúst" and "Ryuichi Sakamoto - andata."
youtube
youtube
Q4. Is there a particular aspect that you pay the most attention to when making music?
A4. I always think about the situation and scene first when I write a song. I spend a lot of time thinking about what kind of situation and scene the song can be used in. I hope that people who listen to my music can feel like they've become the protagonist in a drama. Music that makes sad scenes sadder or helps people feel more in love when they're in love. That's why I always try to write music while thinking about the situation and scene.
Q5. If you have a favorite song among the music you created, what song is it?
A5. I think the songs that were inserted into the hit dramas last year come to mind first. The two songs that I like the most are "Who Was Killed" from the "Penthouse" OST and "Lovely W.Y.W" from the "Strange Lawyer Woo Young-woo" OST. Especially, I personally love "Lovely W.Y.W" because it suited the cute image of Woo Young-woo in the drama so well~ 😊
youtube
youtube
Q6. Can you introduce the attractive points of your music to your readers?
A6. I think the charm of my music lies in its ability to enrich videos. So, the intensity of the music is important. In that sense, my music plays a role in adding to the video. I think the charm of my music is that it does not overpower the video or detract from it.
Q7. When do you get musically inspired in your daily life?
A7. I think it's when I'm taking a walk or daydreaming at a café. I enjoy observing people while walking or daydreaming at a café. Then, I unfold my own imagination. I often get inspiration from imagining, "What kind of music would go well with that story?" while creating my own mini-theater alone.
Q8. Who do you want to be known as in the music industry?
A8. I want to be known as an artist who people say, "This song is definitely his!" An artist who always approaches with a new feeling and makes various attempts. I also want to be remembered as an artist's artist. That's exactly what I admired about Ryuichi Sakamoto. He always tried new things but made music that fit so well. It's my dream to become such an artist. ^^

sadistic beauty commenters/the translator on manhuascans: duna is a gaslighting abusive bitch for catering to minhos cuck fetish. shes suicide baiting. its gaslighting when she says erectile dysfunction (he does)
#also like not to detract from my point but why does everyone get so worked up abt erectile dysfunction like#minho simps get SO mad. its literally a fact that his dick doesnt work but theres also like nothing wrong with that?#idk why they act like its an actual hate crime against him to observe that his dick dont work#theres nothing wrong w erectile dysfunction!! its the toxic masculinity making ppl think that being able to get ur dick hard is the only#thing cis men can bring to sex bc it enforces the narrative that sex has to be piv penetration when it can be so much other stuff#saying this as a dfab person who fucks other dfab people#also sex is not the only value men have wtf is wrong with yall??#anyway minho isnt real and hes not gonna fuck you#even if he was real he wouldnt fuck you bc hes only sexually and romantically interested in duna#and even if he wasnt. really?? seriously?? i wouldnt wish him on my worst enemies. which coincidentally are his simps#but like legiterally. hes emotionally abusive (for real and not just bc i want to make up shit abt a character i dont like.#you absolute clowns)#and treats everyone around him poorly bc he thinks acting haughty is going to elevate his status#thats literally how he got into this whole mess. bc hes an asshole to everyone so when he caused the problems that ruined his own life#no one wanted to help him bc his writing isnt as godly as he thinks it is and also hes just mean and unpleasant#which honestly? also caused all this wookyung problems. wokyung wouldnt wanna fuck him so bad if he wasnt so unpleasant#dont @ me about kinning wookyung im just saying i conceptually know where hes coming from. i actually have morals#inb4 the simps are like they just described the worst man possible#no they didnt ive had sex with my fair share of minhos. lots of men are like that. minho simps if you want some guy with a small dick to#treat you like garbage hit my dms and ill set you up with my sloppy seconds#minho simps absolutely just need to get laid and i will help bc i believe in creating the change you want to see#instead of simping minho online just hit me up. i will get you so right you will regret simping him#oh right but back to one of my points wookyung didnt even have to try that hard to ruin minhos life he asked one girl for one favor and knew#minhos nasty personality would do all the heavy lifting and that hed ruin his own life#yes i do wish getting revenge was that easy irl but :(

my biggest worry about the UA traitor is that it won’t feel significant as the major characters suspected in being it don’t play a big role in the story leading up to now.. like aoyama yes he might cause shock but hagakure?? she doesn’t done much imo but i do think she is the traitor i just wish hori given her some spotlight early on to lead to the moment and the suspense yk
fwiw, you're not alone, anon; I see this concern crop up pretty much every single time there's a U.A. traitor discussion. but the thing is, there's an underlying assumption here that the sole purpose of a plot twist is to shock people. and I would argue that's not true. imo, a well-written plot twist serves many purposes, and shocking the audience is only one of them, and far from the most important one. (in fact, I'd argue that it's not even strictly necessary.) here are four that I can think of right off the top of my head.
they catch and hold the audience's attention. this isn't the case for all plot twists, but it's certainly true for ones which the author chooses to deliberately dangle before the audience, as Horikoshi chose to do with the U.A. traitor plot. if he really wanted to shock people with the reveal, it would have been better for him not to call attention to it in the first place. there was no need whatsoever to have Present Mic bring it up back in chapter 83. but he chose to go that route because he wanted the readers to notice, and he wanted them to start thinking about it and to start speculating about the traitor's identity. it gets the audience excited, and it gives them an incentive to keep reading to see how the story will play out.
they encourage the audience to engage more with the story. the U.A. traitor plot is easily one of the most talked-about elements in the entire story. at this point I don't think there's a single teacher or student character who hasn't been the target of suspicion at some point or other. and again, this was a conscious trade-off on Horikoshi's part, because it would have been much easier to blindside readers with the eventual reveal if they weren't out here forming all of these exhaustive theories. announcing that There Is A Traitor pretty much guarantees that no matter who it ends up being, someone will have predicted it ahead of time. but the trade-off is that fans are paying closer attention to the story, and continuing to think about the plot even when they're not reading the manga, and engaging in more discussion with their fellow fans. and all of that is more than worth the loss of the shock element imo.
they add new layers and depth to the story. this is the hallmark of all of the most iconic plot twists. anyone can write a story and tag on some sort of half-assed unpredictable heel turn at the end in order to try and surprise people and make themselves look smart. but the best plot twists are the ones which actually make sense, and which have foreshadowing sprinkled in throughout the story, so that when you go back and look at everything a second time it makes you go, "ohhh, that's why." a good plot twist should be just as enjoyable to read the second and third time around, even after the shock value has expired, because the satisfaction of seeing a well-planned and executed plot development is still there. and with the very best twists, the story is actually even more enjoyable to go back and reread afterwards, because the knowledge of the twist adds new insight and context and perspective to all of the previous scenes.
and last but not least, they add suspense. there are plenty of ways to keep your readers on their toes that don't necessarily involve surprises coming out of left-field. and this is another thing that the author gains when they make that calculated sacrifice of announcing a plot twist ahead of time. the reader is no longer going to be shocked, because they're now anticipating it -- but that anticipation is a great consolation prize in and of itself. and so with this particular plot, for instance, there's more to the U.A. Traitor Mystery than just the question of who it is. there's also the questions of why, and most important of all, the question of what will happen when everyone finds out? and those questions add a ton of suspense to the story. when will AFO call on Hagakure again? what will he ask her to do? what's going to happen if and when she finally gets caught? how exactly is Aoyama involved in all this? and how will the other members of class A react?? each of these questions has enough inherent suspense that you could make a separate cliffhanger out of each and every one of them if you wanted to.
the thing that everyone always seems to overlook is that the reveal isn't the point. the reveal, when it happens, is going to be a one-time thing which will only be in play for a single chapter at most, after which the plot needs to still be able to stand on all of its other merits. so for instance, suppose that Horikoshi does go for shock over substance, and decides to go with someone "unexpected" like Ochako. sure, you get the shock value, because no one seriously expects it to be her. and maybe to some people it would feel more impactful, because she has a closer connection to Deku and the other characters. but the trade-off is that a twist like that would make absolutely no sense. it completely lacks the careful foreshadowing of the Hagakure/Aoyama twist. and it would detract from Ochako's character development, rather than adding on to it, because it would completely undo so much of what her character journey has been about up until now. all of that sacrificed just for the sake of a one-time twist, which a good chunk of readers would be spoiled for in advance thanks to the weekly spoiler leak cycle. ymmv, but to me that would absolutely not be worth it, and would be a huge waste of both Ochako's character, and of all the careful work that Horikoshi has done to weave this whole plot together.
on the other hand, the fact that Hagakure has had next to no spotlight up till now is exactly what makes her the perfect candidate. with her there's no need to worry about undoing years of carefully planned character development. there's no need to worry about the twist not making sense, or not holding up to the scrutiny of hindsight, because all of Hagakure's interactions with the other characters have always been curiously superficial. we know next to nothing about her family or history or motivations. her character is pretty much a blank slate, which makes her pretty much the only person in 1-A whose betrayal wouldn't feel awkward and forced and completely unnatural.
and as for everyone who's already made up their minds that her betrayal would lack any impact, I think they're both underestimating the amount of impact that any betrayal from one of class A's own would have, and also underestimating Horikoshi's ability to deliver when it comes to ninth-inning backstories. Dabi's backstory came pretty late in the game as well for instance, and that didn't take away from its impact at all. and the same goes for Hawks as well. just because Hagakure doesn't have any backstory yet doesn't mean she's not going to get one. and if you think Horikoshi doesn't have something good cooked up after all this time, then I don't know what else to tell you, except just, "wait and see."
anyway so yeah. and also just a reminder once again that even though fandom sometimes gets bogged down in this kind of discussion involving our personal opinions as to who would be the best traitor candidate, or the most shocking or meaningful or unexpected, etc., at the end of the day the actual evidence we have all points to Hagakure. I know I sound like a broken record at this point, but yeah lol.
