Genshin Sagau (?) Isekai Brainrot - Language

I've seen like ONE small kinda related Genshin Sagau/isekai idea for this but I wanted more of it so BAD

It’s not the most interesting thing in the world, it’s about our modern vernacular vs. Teyvat's flowery speech

Pls feel free to expand on or add to this pLEASE TAG ME IF U DO IM STARVING OUT HERE :)))

So I saw someone write like one sentence abt this (can’t remember who :( sorry I’ll update if I find them ) or like a brutally honest version??

But I also took inspo from how fucking wordy and long conversations that are in Genshin, even with ppl like Xiao (the rude boy that he is) or even Tighnari who gets to the point pretty quickly

It goes smth like:

So, all of Teyvet, (esp ppl like Zhongli 💀 u know the ones) talk,, flowery.

Like, the whole Pride and Prejudice style speaking, euphemisms, metaphors, for some characters (or Npcs) its full on POETRY. 

Lookin’ at you Kazuha.

And going off of any variation of you being the Creator, (or otherwise an older mythical being?), they could have this thing where the older a deity/mythical thingy is, the simpler the speech. 

Kinda makes sense to them y’know? The older beings are serious, commanding, intimidating

And nothing says "I'm ancient as fuck and powerful as fuck" like simple blunt speech.

And being closer to the literal creation of the world, language would understandably be less complex (I’m assuming it’s the same as in human cultures in our world's history)

Like literally look at our fantasy typical stories, plenty of them have a dragon or ancient god that speaks in extremes, like so flowery its a metaphor, or so bluntly its startling (ie, "Be not afraid." "I am all powerful." etc etc)

And so, ancient powerful being = direct/blunt speech

…

...Y'know,, almost like our modern vernacular.

Like, part of some of our modern day comedy is purely based on a sentence being delivered bluntly for impact

Hell our ads and videos and content in general we always want to get to the point, to say things simply

So with this in mind, even if you try to deny being the Creator, they might still think you are, or at least a more minor ancient deity/creature

 .

(like the Seven Sovereigns/Phanes/Shades/etc. for example would sound eerily modern or at least easy for you to understand bc of this trait lol)

(Also I'm just assuming u know Genshin lore enough to know what I meant by that ^)

JUST SAY IT, WHATS THE COMMISSION/QUEST FOR/WHAT DO I DO??

On another note, making fun of someone would be so fucking funny,

I’d like to give myself the benefit of the doubt that many characters, after getting used to your speech, would generally understand you (even if they always notice it, like an accent) and would actually rlly love hearing insults or even just generally how you would put things

(like maybe treating this almost like those vids of ppl with non-native english speaknig relatives/parents and its the most hilarious thing to watch them, usually get pissed 😭, at their kid, if u dont know what I mean look up on tiktok or smth)

And You just come off like those insults where you dont even use cuss words, you just like, drag queen read them into never showing their face again, and you did it in so few words!! 

They're amazed and oh, 

you've become the John Mulaney of Teyvat

now onto your question! that's some good food for thought uhhhh i can try to estimate?? its been a while but i shld have some rough ideas abt each that i can share! the time frame each comic/panel takes is highly dependent on WHAT kind of comic it is. i hv two kinds of comics I usually do: 1) full-length, and 2) goofy/4koma.

i have a few full-length comics laying about in my archive, but my most recent one/best example is Ghosts which was around uh.... 7 pages excluding the bonus panels! in terms of the process, i usually divide it into 5 stages:

Drafting: this is either the fastest stage OR the slowest depending entirely whether i know what im doing LMAO,, if i have a set idea for what i want to happen, i might get drafts done in a few hours, but if i flounder, it can take a few days 🤔

Lineart: relatively simple enough once i hv the draft down, so id say anything ranging from an hour to half a day if theres nothing else going on irl

Block colouring (main actors): there are DEFINITELY easier and more professional ways to do this with mass-selection and the lasso fill/bucket tool, but idk how to do that on SAI (my art program) so i colour everything by hand HAHA which makes the process longer.... half a day to a day?

Shading: THE WORST!!! definintely my least favourite bc i find it tedious due to all the details/prettification of elves that i am legally obliged to pour into this stage 😭😭 as a result, it can take days!!!

Background + Lighting + Final Rendering: similar to the previous stage haha it just depends on how much effort i wanna put into the final product looking nice. roughly a few days? it kind of meshes with stage 4 anyways haha

just for fun, i hope this process gif for page 6 can illustrate that 👇

these are just rough estimates, bc all in all, the time it takes so finish a page is really dependent on how free I am hahaha. Also, I usually work on full-length comics like Ghost which have more than one page all at once, which means I drafted all 7 pages at once, then did the lineart for all 7 pages at once, coloured at once, shaded rendered bla bla bla 😚 iirc, i think it took me 11 days in total to finish Ghosts before the end of June last year!

For goofy/4-koma, its usually just one page with less detailed/more cartoonish/chibi character styles so it takes a day or two days at most! again, it all boils down to how free i am hehe

SOME THOUGHTS ON NEW TD CHARACTER DESIGNS

she has beads in her hair and they look fantastic. also she has brown eyes as does a fair chunk of the cast which is making me so happy because very few td characters have brown eyes :)

it took me a bit to realize but this guy actually has a longass ponytail 

i think this is a hockey shirt?

she has an eyebrow piercing in addition to ear piercings and i feel kinda cursed saying this but she looks like someone combined courtney and duncan with maybe a splash of brick. regardless she is my fav character in terms of looks so far (little confused about what is going on with her shirt(s?) though)

bleached blond hair and an undercut plus a purple shirt, what i’m gonna guess is a purple vest, and a cool necklace. loving the fashion sense. pretty sure ive seen one of my best friends in this exact outfir

it might be the quality of the image but she looks like her eyes could be purple? maybe just an odd shade of brown though

love the pleated skirt as opposed to those weird wrap things fresh used to do. glad we’ve moved on. the winged eyeliner!! also super cute sneakers which brings me to the observation that only one female character is visibly wearing heels which makes me SO happy. im so sick of girls on the show being designed with 3+ inch heels like how tf are they supposed to do challenges like that. but almost every female member of this cast is wearing sneakers and im so here for it

THE CURLY HAIR WE LOVE TO SEE IT!! actually this cast has a fair amount of curly/textured hair it’s making my curly self so happy

the first td character to wear high waisted jeans!! looks a little weird to me tbh but i get it considering how extreme the art style is when it comes to waists. anyways this character looks very sweet :)

bonus: my guess for the gay couple is these two bc they’re looking at each other like this from across the campfire

in conclusion, while the designs aren’t as colorful/intense as, say, the pahkitew or roti designs, i love how natural/realistic they look and am super happy fresh changed things that bothered me in the past (heels, lack of brown eyes + curly hair) very excited to learn more about these characters!

Do you have any appearance headcanons for HS characters? Such as who are muscular, who are chubby, who are tall, etc.

i have this height chart for the kids that i dont follow super strictly (+ its kinda exaggerated i dont think that jade is THAT tall lmao) but it shows my general headcanons . also the lighting isnt great but oh well. putting all the answers below the cut cause this got long as HELL

john: short, a bit above average build. light skinned but slightly tanned+freckled, more so during the summer. my headcanons for everyones eyes is that theyre like a believable shade close to their canon colors, but when they either enter the medium or godtier, i cant decide but i lean towards medium, they change to their canon bright colors. johns are naturally blue pre-sburb. also i headcanon that hypermobile ehler danlos runs in the prospit family (saying this bc i refuse to use some godawful portmanteau family name for them) because projection, and for him it starts presenting more obviously after getting to earth c. even before then he would do weird joint shit to mess with people lol. headcanon that people keep scars from various resurrections or might end up with them from other versions due to weird universe shit so he has a couple stab scars on his chest + lots more from sburb stuff. also i like the idea of him having some visual aftereffect from going out of canon whether some breath lookin scars on his arm or something like that.

rose: mixed east asian/european (vague bc they dont technically have actual ancestry, given a no sburb au im undecided for more specific asian background but since her surname has french origins thats my headcanon for that part); darker skin. natural dark hair but she bleaches it to dye it purple. fairly average height. naturally below average weight growing up, but fills out in her teens. gray eyes before sburb; her hair dye make them look faintly lilac, but they become actual purple eventually. somewhat fluffy hair but mostly only if she styles it to be. keeps scar from being killed by jack + absorbs the scars of doomed rose from davesprites timeline.

jade: tall and lanky, but much closer to daves height than in this drawing. very similar hair and skin tone to john, but much more tan, especially at the start of sburb since she lives in the tropics. by the end theyve both faded to close to the same color. hair looks black but with brown highlights in bright light. natural green eyes, but instead of just turning brighter they also glow like the green sun in the dark (or an animal with reflective eyes). hair gets a lot fluffier and thicker after dogtiering, + gets fangs. it was very long and a tangled mess from not brushing or cutting it enough growing up, so on the pre-retcon yellow yard she gets it cut and grows it back while on post-retcon she cuts it off herself during a breakdown moment. quite a few scars from jungle mishaps + taxidermy stitching scars after dogtiering. pretty wiry from taking care of herself growing up. her ehlers danlos presents with more fatigue as she gets older so the sleepygirl vibes return...she also had to self-treat a lot of dislocations from incidents on the island. her body is a bit fucked up after godtiering from the combo of vague dogginess making the connective tissue stuff worse.

dave: same as rose but im very much in the albino dave headcanon camp! lots of scars from strifing with bro, which show up pretty easy on him. big one on his chest from the strife where his shirt got cut, and sometimes ends up with doomed daves' scars. his eyes were naturally pinkish red but again became their super bright color eventually. heavily masks his expressions most of the time but gets better at displaying emotion while on the meteor. pretty tall and a good bit of muscle, but skinny throughout childhood from his living situation. thin hair without a ton of volume. also please make him so very very texan i beg you all.

jane: shortest of the alpha kids + chubby :] very fluffy hair, and pretty pale from not going outside as much as the other prospits. gets pretty emotive and frazzled at times + gets red in the face easily from both that and being paler. maybe a couple scars from failed assassination attempts that she usually covers with makeup to keep up the heiress public image? her and roxy both have scars from being killed pre-entry.

roxy: darker than rose + curlier hair; also mixed but less so without dirks genes in the mix obvs. second tallest of the alphas! she dyes her hair pink but not as often as rose so her roots are grown out a lot more. various scars from living in the water apocalypse + kitten accidents as it goes with those silly creatures, and more freckles than rose bc climate change lol. natural dark brown eyes instead of something "pink" lol . void style. prescratch she just bleached her hair but didnt dye it. i like to think maybe jade did end up getting a little silly :3 when she was a prisoner on derse so some scars from that too :(

jake: short!! i live for short jake. honestly might make him shorter than jane; theyre def closer in height than i drew them here. lotsss of scars he thinks they look cool. clothes usually a bit battered. haircut is not very neat whatsoever because he just does it himself to keep it out of the way which is better than jade letting hers go wild i guess. similar complexion to jade. scars on his chest from getting forked by jane which has angst potential. natural eye color is sorta hazel/green

dirk: tall! white surfer boy lookin. natural dirty blonde hair but the combo of sunbleaching + various improvised methods to lighten it to resemble his totally awesome bro makes it closer to blonde (prescratch he bleaches it so hard and its so shitty but irony am i right). extremely freckled + lots of scars but he got most of them in very stupid ways like slipping while climbing the supports for the apartment. he does ofc have the iconic neck scar. naturally had light brown eyes.

ok and trolls! this is the only pic where ive drawn all of them so itll work as my visual lol.

first tho these are my headcanons for how different castes ears look! mind that the pic of all the trolls is a bit older than this (which is also something i made a while ago in case i never needed to describe my headcanons. so some things changed from one to the next but in general the same ideas are there; also some things in this diagram i dont like as much as what i drew above so take it with a grain of salt.

also my headcanon is that on average for this age range, trolls are in the same range of heights as humans, but the higherblooded they are the taller they can get. however they keep growing a lot longer . like lobsters . which extra reason why highbloods get bigger cause they live longer

aradia: short, chubby but muscular, with super curly and long and wild hair. when alive, lots of dark red freckles and blush but when dead, very pale gray skin. for my ear shape headcanons, rustblood ears are just slightly more pointed than human ears, though you cant see hers in this pic. sometimes i draw her with horizontal pupils when i remember.

tavros: tall for a bronzeblood, but still short compared to humans. his robot legs make him taller than he was before lol. pretty obvious brown flush to his skin a lot of the time. lil bit chubby

sollux: short-average height, thin and lanky. terrible posture. i lean into the goldbloods with two pairs of ears headcanon. no freckles

karkat: he hasnt slept in a month and everyone can tell. worlds awfullest eyebags on a thirteen year old boy ever. i draw trolls with nails corresponding with their blood color but he paints his black. what do you mean he has red freckles those are the blood of his enemies. average height and constantly tense

nepeta: short. silly. will kill you. there is a nasty mix of blood under her nails at all times but look at her silly smile. she doesnt look buff but she is. super messy hair goes all over the place standing on end when she takes off her hat. cleft lip + slit pupils. lots of scars but she rocks them like a warrior cat.

kanaya: curly fluffy hair. in this pic i didnt draw it cause im a loser i guess but she has tons and tons of freckles. sometimes they look like stars (space player moment). i draw her ears with sorta leafy/almost frayed-looking edges as a rosemary nod since they kinda look like rose leaves! fairly tall for a jade.

terezi: lots of freckles on her face! very straight and pointy ears. short + chubby + not exactly visibly muscular but she WILL throw you. triangle body shape language (wide stance, very solid).

vriska: super wild unkept hair. fairly pale; burn scars across her face, side, and shoulder. the pic shows her damaged ear (she lost most of it in the explosion) but her other ear would be a bit longer than terezis but with a less dramatic point. somewhat tall and pretty solidly built.

equius: buff but NOT like a super muscular body builder he may be a troll but he is basically thirteen. hes like a buff middle schooler but not super over the top. just kinda a regular guy. i dont like how his hair looks in the comic so i draw it a bit different. strong blue (no pun intended) flush to his skin in some places, especially under eyes and near joints. fairly tall.

gamzee: ive never rlly draw him without makeup so i dont rlly have an idea of his normal appearance. tall but slouches, somehow both a bit chubby as well as awkwardly bony in places. thick + very curly hair. i draw purpleblood ears with a sorta multilobed/wavy edgy to sorta resemble approaching seadweller fins.

eridan: average height for a violetblood, but tall for a human. a few freckles. his glasses are just for show. hes like a middle schooler who you think looks so tough and edgy at the time but then you look back and realize they were just a loser kid.

feferi: short + chubby but very strong. long curly hair, lots and lots of freckles! very round + soft + bubbly shape language.

hi!!!! so ik your focus is on audios (which are absolutely amazing btw) but i was wondering if you could maybe explain how you color/render your artwork? i’m new to digital art and have been struggling a bit. if not that’s totally okay!! i understand <3

Hi! I totally can, though this is gonna get long lol. I tried going in depth? I'm not too great at explaining things so I'm 100% cool with clarifying things if needed. This isn't TLOU art, I was re watching Devilman Crybaby and sketched this out last night. I saw this ask right as I was about to start so the timing was perfect lol

I'm gonna try to go step by step? I haven't rendered digitally in a while, mostly just sketching. Also, this is kinds rushed, it's late, but it explains everything (I hope?)

1.After I do my sketch, I do a fuck ton of blending. It helps me build shadows/depth and I also just like the way it looks. (I also duplicated my sketch in case I mess up and can't go all the way back)

2. Ok, a lot happened, I zoned out, but I swear it's not a lot. I use a grey base on one layer. I clipped color layer to the grey base so that I wouldn't go out of the lines

I changed the line art color to a reddish-brown (which helps me with blending into the skin later) and I added the base color and certain tones.

This character is on the paler side, so a lot of the colors I'm gonna use are cool (blues, greens). And I'm gonna use a ton of red(bc blood flow, and a ton of blush is a stylistic choice for me).

Note: Instead of going straight in with a blending brush, I use transition colors. Blending brushes are good too, I used one for blending the initial sketch, but transitional colors just make everything flow a bit better than just blending two completely different colors. (Color pick between different shades/colors to blend, its tedious but it's what I do)

3. I created a multiply layer and deepened the shadows a bit using the same color as the base skin color, and I made a highlight layer as well (the opacity is pretty low on both the highlight and the shadow layer, you gotta mess around with it)

Has it felt like I've been rendering this entire time?? Absolutely. Have I? No.

I make the initial stages of my drawing all annoying so that when I get to the *checks notes* 8th layer, I can just do the fun stuff. I'm not done at all, but the rendering layer itself is pretty simple, I just add all the stuff that makes the drawing look less dull. Adding more pinkish color on the lips, nose and cheeks. Bringing back a lot of green and blue (that's just a style thing, also there is a 9th layer but thats just the little white highlights)

This definitely isn't the "correct" way to do this (there is no right way), but it's how I do it. I would show how I render hair but:

1.I have no clue what I'm doing when I do it, I just fuck around until it looks decent (even more so than I do with the skin)

and

2.My chair is hurting my butt

All in all, you just gotta practice a bunch and figure out what you like. Using pinterest and Youtube helps me a lot when I'm stuck or need a refresher💕

Again, please let me know if I need to explain something better, I'm not great at teaching stuff like this😅

Iterator Styles

I have two main styles for iterators: chibi and humanoid-ish. round head vs oval head with a cheek curve (cheek curve is a staple of my style. was actually against it when drawing iterators with it for the first time, yet it’s become such a signature now XD. I love it a lot huhu). here is an example with my lovely boy Twine (he is not the main antagonist despite his mischievous posings). also!! slim eyes for devious characters, like twine and shadows (and leaves, unwillingly /lore). the two ogs 💛 with their yellow jack-o-lantern faces. theres a phrase i made up a bit ago: you can’t spell wanderer without jack-o-lantern-faced iterator, can you?

got better with posing over the years but im still struggling with fabric and cloaks </3

Slugcat Styles

now for slugcats, its evolved a different way. rather with two stages, they have a few more. when i first discovered rainworld, i had a very simple way of drawing. u heads and 3 fingers and toes, aswell with really odd aggressively-digi legs. and then it evolved when i learned “sketching” (blotting down odd shapes with barely any sense of proportion. balls for the elbows, no line of action, eyeing it and getting anatomy wrong lol) and things got really disproportionate. theres more stages, but i made a few complex and simple examples of my style over the years :]!! maybe i put too much effort into it but it was interesting to figure out!!

theres some timeskips in the big timeline one, and some other arts of mine might showcase style changes a bit better, and this is only my digital gallery, but oh well!!! whats done is done until its undone💥 /ghibli movie reference

didn’t do iterators or general effects-and-tidbits-i’ve-learned (shading, rendering, lineart, etc) bc i’ve spent so much time already. so you get SLUGCAT BEAM BLASTED💥💥. all this art ranges from 2019-2024 (the years i’ve been a rainworld fan :])

2022 Writing Evaluation

ah well well well thank u to my dear friends @calumsash,@igarbagecannoteven and @burstingsunrise for tagging me! very intruiged to see what this year's one's gonna reveal.

numbers of stories posted on ao3: 11! therefore a bit more than 2021.

word count for this year: that's a bit tricky bc ao3 counts my unfinished fic into this year as a whole so imma have to calculate a bit... 88 k for the independent fics and 14 chapters which are abt... 50 k for Days in the sun. Ergo 138,000 words! Estimated.

fandoms i wrote for: 5SOS!

pairings: cake! but i do have some muke in the making. (somewhere in the far future.)

story with the most kudos/bookmarks/comments: (leaving dits aside) to my own surprise, the right shade of blue really seemed to resonate with a lot of people (shoutout to luke's makeup you really have power apparently), perfect fit has the most comments and of lovers and friends got bookmarked the most (it has the most hits from these three as well so it figures i guess)

work i'm most proud of: hmmmm. of lovers and friends is one of my angstier works and the one where i think i really conveyed what luke goes through quite well. a different story is perfect fit though. i love that one bc it's so simple and light but so effective. but also shoutout to molly's bday fic the hues of me and you bc i wanted to write that fic for so long and i do like how it turned out despite it being quite different from what i normally write

work i'm least proud of (and why): there's no work i'm not moderately proud of bc i rarely finish fics and only finish them when i really do like them if that makes sense? my biggest problem is still my writing style bc i'm not yet sure i like it. which is probably any writer's problem but especially with english being not my native language i just KNOW i lack a certain... confidence in what i write bc i know it could be better, and could have more flow, and be more natural than it is. i write fics with three translators open, looking up every third word trying to find the one that not only makes sense but also gives it... the right vibe. that's something that bothers me with any fic. this is also a problem with days in the sun bc i post it as i write, and i just know that if i waited to finish it and edited it as a whole and only then posted it i might have done some things differently, but on the other hand, i also know it wouldve never seen the light of day, so... you win some, you lose some.

share or describe a favourite review you received: oh my god okay right yeah. there've been several to be clear but i'll keep it short so. once upon a time team @4thbrighteststar read of lovers and friends (actually, more on that later) and i wasn't thinking abt it too much after it was posted but then. one day i got a message from team, and lo and behold. it was a song. a song that fit the fic. i was SCREAMING on the inside. absolutely screeching. TEAM WROTE THAT SONG AND THEN SENT IT TO ME ALL CASUAL LIKE THATS NOT INCREDIBLE. burned into my brain for all eternity. i could talk abt it much more but this is already getting so long so ILY TEAM THANK U ONCE MORE ILY

a time when writing was really, really hard: can i just say 2022? /hj no but in all honesty... i had a REALLY hard time last year. i had much less time than the year before, and when i did have time, i rarely could get myself to actually sit down and write. and on top of that there is of course not much engagement with my fics anyway so at times i was very discouraged, almost to the point that i wanted to stop writing... so, yeah. i try not to pressure myself as much this year, but we'll see, i guess.

a scene or character you wrote that surprised you: actually, a lot of my fics are products of 'i'm just the writer i don't control what happens'. one funnier case though is probably football player luke in the hues of me and you. i never thought to make luke a football player bc it sounds so cliché but... as you can see it happened! and i think that's okay. i think i wrote him well enough.

a favourite excerpt of your writing: there's the hardest questions of them all, ah yes. fine. i'll actually try this time. AH yes okay yk what i got one:

i put more humor than usual into only on thursdays and i really like its lighthearted vibe <3 this isn't necessary my favourite scene but i also can't remember anything i wrote ever so it'll do lol

12. how did you grow as a writer this year? did i? i have no idea. i think i'm getting more confident in my writing with every fic i write, which is good. i've been more determined to work on my fics in terms of editing them after finishing, which i've been lousy with.

13. how do you hope to grow next year? hm... i hope i'll grow more confident. i hope i'll become more satisfied with my work.

14. who was your greatest positive influence this year as a writer (could be another writer or beta or cheerleader or muse etc.)?

@burstingsunrise it would be ridiculous not to mention molly although i technically don't even talk to her about my writing that explicitely. i do however constantly ask her dumb questions and always get a more or less serious answer, i can always come to her for advice or throwing around any and all ideas i ever get. she's also been a real cheerleader to me whenever i'm insecure abt my writing again which i really, really appreciate. on top of the usual amount of appreciation obviously

i also have to mention @the-girl-who-cried-wolf bc she's inspired me lots of times, be it with her moodboards and blog/aesthetic, her own writing or something else. also my biggest cheerleader, love u emma.

dearest team @4thbrighteststar for her support on of lovers and friends. the fic would've never been as good as it is without her.

lastly i have to mention @sophelkopter (/ @sophelkopter on ao3) bc i simply wouldn't have kept going with dits without their comments. eternal gratitude.

15. anything from your real life show up in your writing this year? oh yeah! for sure.

16. any new wisdom you can share with other writers? just keep writing. and write EVERYTHING DOWN. that's all i got but also the most important two rules

17. any projects you're looking forward to starting (or finishing) in the new year? i finally want to write MUKE and i want to write ballet cake and i'd love to write the stranger things au. most importantly, however: i will finish days in the sun this year. soon. no idea how soon, but soon, and just thinking about it makes me want to cry lol

Hi! I'm wondering how do you get people to interact with you and your ideas? Your writing is incredible of course. That's step 1 I'm guessing. But you have moved from one blog to another and somehow brought all of your amazing, engaging followers with you. You have asks to answer every day and things to enthuse over. I'm genuinely curious because I've run a couple of fandom blogs in my time and never had that sort of following no matter how hard I tried to cultivate it. I'm fairly sure if I moved blogs even my moots wouldn't follow me. So, do you have any tips on getting people to chat with you?

omg thank you!!! honestly I think a lot of it is because I genuinely come on here and just want to have fun. I write for fun, yes I care about the notes but like not enough to really panic. like some sunny day is one of my favorite things I've ever written and it probably has the least amount of notes, and that's ok bc I know there are people who really really loved it <3

as far as engagement that all comes from being engaging which I think is lost sometimes. like 95% of the lore in my little worlds is made my all my asks. I make like a solid 5% and build off the others. people want to feel included in your world, it makes them feel more apart of it. there's times where I'm like "would I have gone in that direction? no but I'm glad I did" bc people loved it <3 and talk to them!!!

honestly, and this is no shade no hate not directed at anyone, but I used to get my feelings hurt when I would send in an ask and the reply was like "no he wouldn't do that" or "yeah that's cool" like???? I'm sorry that doesn't make me feel very included or make me want to send anything else in. expand on why yes or no!!! tell people about your eddie, your universe that you're making with writing!!!

and of course, do funsie little things like games or blurbs or head canons, bc really people want to know as much as they can. sometimes it's overwhelming and can be seen as pressure, but really it's because people love it. just remember that.

and get with mutuals. support their work and support other authors works and you never know, they might support yours.

I also know that I have a bigger-ish platform with all three of my blogs, not to sound braggy and I'm very thankful bc I haven't been here long at all and I love you, and that's why I do the writing challenges. people get to read about a character they love, and they get to see your writing style and how you made it and the hope is that people get their work (not just the writing challenge) boosted bc people read that and go to their page and want to read more :) so if you see opportunities to do games and writing challenges anything that might boost your page do it!!!!

as a big figure collector myself i'd love to hear your hot takes

oo okay i'm going to ramble abt freeing b-styles for a bit bc it's what mfc is imploding itself over this week so they're the first thing i could think of. i think freeing's b-style line Might be the most mismanaged figure line within recent history.

the thing abt b-styles is that they have the potential to be so so so good sometimes. the siren song of "huge figure of my fave" is real and common, and it's p hard to fuck up enough to make a playboy bunnysuit look bad. but not even freeing knows what the b-style line is even meant to be, it's not their 1/4 line bc of the 10 count and i'm-being-harrassed-by-the-sexiest-man-of-the-year 1/8 scale bunnies (put a pin in those two), and it's not their bunnysuit line bc of the mikus, fate characters, touhou girls etc. which are all part of the line and yet in their canon outfits. additionally, freeing's paint jobs and sculpts have notoriously been lacking. i think gil's b-style is a good example of what i mean by this, partially bc i think it's more than safe to assume you're very familiar w him, but also bc he's the fig that made me start to pick up on b-style's common issues. i like him a lot and i want to love him but his pose looks more like that of a cosplayer replicating his iconic pose than one he's making naturally, and his face is... not the worst gil face i've seen but also farrr from the best. his shading, especially on his hair, is near-nonexistent in photos and his armor is more piss yellow than gold. and he's an average b-style quality-wise, not one of the particularly bad ones, like the marin mydressupdarling one that mfc is currently flipping its shit abt, or the melody oc w the pink hair and green lingere. b-style is prone to (and getting increasingly comfortable with) releasing figures w bad qc, minimal shading, and merely 'ok' sculpts for ~30,000 jpy (with increasing prices).

additionally, i think their rerelease policy is somewhat predatory. it used to be a widely agreed aspect of figure collecting that bare-leg bunnies are kinda really ugly but w the kirigiri danganronpa bare-leg going up for preorder, the bare-leg activists have been coming out of the woodwork under the impression that they're an oppressed group bc of their... anime figure preferences. subjective taste regarding bare-legs aside, there's no claiming that a bare-leg release is the same as a rerelease, especially when the tights being real fabric is part of the original's selling point. the few remakes that actually change something besides the tights, ie. recolors or like. tiger taiga, are always something fans want more than the og and always announced not until after people who would have otherwise skipped out on the plain version had already paid for it. it's all deliberate. if freeing doesn't do straightforward rereleases, then their aftermarkets continue to skyrocket, and they can charge more no matter how subpar their figures can be bc people have gotten used to paying insane prices for b-style bunnies.

and then there's the actual designs of the bunnysuits themselves. don't get me wrong here, freeing has done a great job on some of its bunnies. madoka and homura come to mind as some of its best original bunny designs, and they've done a great job adapting some canon bunny designs, like miku and haruhi's, percival's even came out so nice that i'm this close to playing eiyuu senki just to justify hunting her down. and i'm not even completely opposed to plain bunny designs, i adore black rock shooter's b-style and there are a lot of complaints to be had with hers if you're looking for them (she's literally had canon bunnysuits which were more visually interesting + almost all brs figures are variants of THE gsc 1/8 scale just w slight differences and this one is no exception + the combination of the two make it downright lazy). but most freeing bunnies tend to fall less into the category of 'how would this character wear a bunny suit' and more 'we put this character in a bunnysuit!' the love is war girls come to mind as an example, but there's also that one girl who always wears an american flag bikini top in her show, and who got a bikini top on her bunny but it was just plain blue, or komi, famous anime girl from a show i've never watched, who every1 briefly lost their shit over bc (allegedly) she's wayyy too shy to wear something like that and also should've been a cat and although i don't know who tf she is, i'm inclined to agree w them. you could remove the head of almost every b-style bunny and without fail it'd be hard to guess who's who. which is where some of the criticisms regarding 'hey why are there so many underage characters being made' come in, and while i think that it should be judged on a case by case basis (esp considering how bunnysuits seem to have a slightly different cultural connotation in japan vs the west), a lot of the time when underage girls' heads are thrown on the bunnysuit-clad body of what could have easily been any other adult, and when the bunnysuit takes priority over the character, i can really get where they're coming from. i want to praise bicute bunnies as being better than b-styles in regards to character > bunnysuit but tbh i think they sort of moe-blobify every1 they make but so far it's only been miku, sonico and re:zero girls so. it remains to be seen.

and this is the point where i have to cycle back to the 10 count and i'm-being-harrassed-by-the-sexiest-man-of-the-year bunnies and the fact that freeing is weird abt the concept of anyone amab being viewed as attractive, esp in a bunnysuit. i feel like bunnymen have to be one of the most highly sought-after figures by the rapidly expanding female collector-base (esp those on tiktok and youtube) and yet there are.... 4 b-styles by freeing, and all 4 are 1/8 scales instead of 1/4s like the rest of the line. more specifically, they're the only figures in the line which are less than 1/4 scale, save for one singular 1/6 that wasn't Just produced by freeing (it has 2 manufacturers listed) and seems to be a much more complicated case than any of the others so i'm just going to ignore it as the exception that proves the rule. it's almost as if ppl who are attracted to men are being de-prioritized in the eyes of freeing as lesser consumers. it's not even justifiable to say something along the lines of "oh. well clearly they were taking a risk and thus decided to go with the most popular scale" bc 1/8s are... not that. 1/7s have ruled the figure world for a while (and for good reason) but that's not what male figures would have you believe, as 1/8s are the most common scale. i just think that it says a lot for the figure line which has a gimmick of making figures that are huge going for the literal most common scale (which is also tiny) the second it comes time to make a man is. hm. freeing does have an amab nonbinary* (*i've never watched the show but the wiki uses they/them) 1/4 scale bunny coming up of rimuru from the fucking. slime isekai. but. 1. they look more like a girl in the b-style than they do in p much any other figure of them, and 2. with the extreme popularity of certain similar characters, why is this only happening now? and it's at this point where i have to turn to a question which has been bugging me since i started writing this: why is there no bridget b-style? i honest to god think that, out of the wave of bridget announcements that swept through last wonfest, freeing b-style has to be the only major figure line that didn't announce a bridget. which could mean nothing. but also there's no b-style of felix from re:zero, who actually didn't get any mass-produced figures overall so i guess she wasn't that popular in japan, poor girl, and despite the fact that my introduction to figure customization was through b-styles being made of this character, and i've never seen a b-style custom that Wasn't of this character (beyond putting tights on a bareleg or w/e), and this character notably having an alternate bunny-themed outfit, there's still no b-style astolfo. and yeah. could mean nothing. but also if it does mean nothing that's a massive loss of revenue on freeing's part. but it generally rubs me the wrong way to think abt how the only """male""" (which i say bc figure collectors can be inc transphobic at times and i doubt there's that big a gap between customer and manufacturer in this regard considering... everything) figure who isn't openly presenting masculinely allowed to be in the 1/4 scale b-style line is uhm. technically a slime. and thus isn't polluting the good pure bunnies w the presence of a penis.

also this is a nitpick but the fate b-styles are generally inconsistent and it makes me mad. gil artoria^2 in their normal outfits i get bc they're super popular but also it'd make even more sense to have mash there. a few canon fgo bunnies (scáthach artoria ruler koyanskaya) makes sense but i'll still be upset abt no saberstolfo and there's an infinitely larger audience for her than koyanskaya. and then there's chloe and illya from prillya and all i can think of is who wanted this. i mean i know who but they're proof that type-moon aren't stopping freeing from putting their characters in bunnysuits even when they don't wear them in any official sources so like. where are the f/sn heroines. why aren't there more fgo bunnies. where's nero. freeing's character decisions upset me a lot of the time.

also the marin mydressupdarling bunny is lazy and looks bad and they should be ashamed of themselves for that one.

I like monstress on a very basic level of enjoyment cuz it is very blasé specially considering Marjorie Liu works on marvel specially her time on daken dark Wolverine and black widow so I might ask what do you dislike about the art?? Just wanting to get a more in detail of the art on general not the character stuff

a few things haha

complex to the point of buisiness for no good reason: there's just so many details that serve no point. readability is important in comics, you need to prioritize what you want to show. also, it's hard to get good composition with that level of shit going on in your panel

lackluster technically. stuff like lighting and anatomy are sketchy. i talked about volumes before, that too. the lineart is messy too, with a lack of control that doesn't feel deliberate with stuff left unconnected or lines that wobble around, it looks like a penultimate pass to finished lines not final lineart

digital slop yaaay why paint when you can throw a gazillion layers of color and blending modes with an airbrush on photoshop this was no one can see your lines or your flats but it's not actually painted

can i please get a character who does not look like a model. can i get wrinkles stubble some sag perhaps

im going to be real now that you pointed out she works for Marvel it all makes sense bc most of this is prevalent in superhero US comics and I hate the art in them. i like simple stylized things and i like my worlds and characters that inhabit them to look boring. busiest comic artists I enjoy are probably Sfar, Segrelles and Toppi and their work is both technically impressive and boasting strong sense of style

sfar is the busiest here with little space to breathe but only uses flats, and while his lines and volumes are lose so is everything so it looks stylish - its both uniform and deliberate. segrelles has eye searingly corny realistic oil paints but his composition and anatomy are so polished each panel is a standalone painting. toppi has a lot of texture but equally as much if not more empty black/white flats and could sneeze on a pen and somehow convey a 3/4 and a half face in perfect counter shading with that lvl of draftsmanship

but i can bitch about the technical stuff, a lot if not most of what I don't like about it is sheer personal preferences. feels bad to run my mouth on this when I myself am a mediocre comic artist :/ she can probably draw better than I do

also abt developing my style,,,?? i've been drawing since i was like 6!!! but i got kinda serious about it when i was like 8 and started actually reading chapter books and playing video games

ngl,, its just a bunch of other ppl's art styles mixed together hehe,,

like june's (@ actuallyrea on twitter) style and riverspirit456 on youtube when i wanted to learn how to shade and use colour as a young artist.

i just take little bits n mix it together and use what i learn from studying the human body :p

but ya i think the main motivation behind development was seeing these ppl's neat ocs and thinking... "i wanna do that!!" as a 9 year old and making my first warrior cat oc, then sonic oc, then pokemon trainer oc

and then feeling frustrated that i couldnt draw the pose i wanted to and then scouring the internet for poses to learn and taking in little bits from different artists i looked up to to polish my drawings.

i thiiink i have a license for clip studio paint that came with my old wacom tablet but i never rly used it. also used to have krita installed for the longest time but just always felt off to me idk why. don't currently have it installed anymore tho

to their right is a bit easier i think. not smth i consciously notice, mostly i'm just thinking abt when im doodling on the margins of stuff they usually are looking to the left of the page

cityscapes !!! i love cities they r so pretty and cool looking but goddamn theyre so hard to draw

80-20? i post everything that i finish. basically the only stuff that doesnt get posted is sketches i give up on

i rly like the cj comic i did i am genuinely so goddamn happy with the result so . even tho it did very well by the standards for the fandom its for and my current follower base it is underrated

Hello Enstarries~☆ Back again with a new part of my ramblings about Enstars' colorful and massive cast, this time about our cute bunnies Ra*bits! I really should hurry up with this series, so that I can actually start to read the main stories....

DISCLAIMER!: Everything said here is for entertainment purposes only and not meant to attack anyone. This is not an accurate description of any characters but my subjective rambling for fun, so please don't take it too seriously. (Just to be safe, I'm kinda scared of elite idol fans) Also, you will hear me mention other games a bunch of times bc I'm that bad and uncreative at explaining and I'm still grieving A3!EN's shutdown. Eng is my 2nd (or 3rd?) language so there might be some weird grammar or spelling mistakes.

Cute, innocent, babies, spring, bun buns. These are the first words that come to mind before I read their Ep.1. Ngl, I was taken aback by how serious it all was with real things like, fans, images, staying relevant etc. I thought it would be more casual like Kaoru and Reis' but, uhhhh hm 😶 I initially thought, they'd be way more annoying bc somehow cutesy idol characters (Ruby (Love Live), I am looking at you) end up like that to me and their voices didn't help. They're all more....normal?....mature...than expected. Anyways, their image is, as Tomoya said, "good boys", and I agree. They do look cute and I really love their various renditions of sailor uniforms. I live for the mix and match of the different styles and colors for every member. AND their little fluffy pom pom or smth at their waist 💓 I like their music a lot. It's very upbeat and often bubbly, sometimes more peaceful. Feels like baking a lot of sweets with friends and then having a picnic under the shade of a tree on a sunny but slightly windy day. My fav songs are Melty Kitchen & FALLIN' IN LOVE=IT'S WONDERLAND. Also, the * looks like a censor lol

7/10 - I like them more than expected and think they're gonna be quite interesting

Tomoya Mashiro

Apparently one of the most normal guys of the cast, which by default should make him stand out again. He does seem very normal: blond hair, brown eyes, maybe a bit on the shorter side, but he looks like a normal person. Nonetheless, he doesn't come off as just a random dude. Maybe it's bc of what I just mentioned? He looks very friendly, chill, and overall just like a good person. Would probably share homework but also help you with it if asked. Also, might like vanilla (not derogatory). His voice is the least distinct from his unit, whiyh is why I kinda don't really remember his parts.

7.5/10 - I wouldn't mind being in a group project with him

Sei Shounen Yuugi S L A P S and it's such a shame there aren't more songs of him with Valkyrie. But it was kind of a toxic time for him? So, good on him for moving on *pats on back*, know your self-worth ✊ He doesn't like called being cute but, it's kinda his unit's image...? Idk why but I thought he'd be kinda rude and often pouty. And he does come off a bit cutesy with his oiiii~ and ehe~. Is he not human or what did he mean with feeling more human now? I would not be surprised if he's an android or smth not bc he give off those vibes but bc I've seen an android idol before (Ai (Utapri) if I'm not wrong but also Guy (A3!), even though he's not a real android).

6.5/10 - I don't have a real feeling for his personailty yet but I am curious

Dash dash dash~ The bread loving sprinting cinnamon bun is here. His model looks the tallest of the four. Is more what I imagined everyone from Ra*bits to be like: kinda dense, clumsy, naive yet very earnest and optimistic. He might be the baby of the group. Actually, isn't he almost a himbo? But like before being buff. Does he still believe in Santa Claus and the Tooth? His voice is more different than I thought. It's more like...a crunchy herbal baguette instead of sweet pancakes. Btw I don't think we, as Anzu, are that much older for him call us "big sister", so that confuses me a bit. At first thought he'd be Chiaki's younger brother bc of their similiar hair and eye color.

6.5/10 - He's either very amusing or annoying to watch, but he looks cute

Hajime Shino

What a weak voice. He sounds like I could snap him like a young twig. It's not a bad voice but I can't feel a certain strength, that usually carries when singing. He's sounds very soft. And I do think he's a rather softspoken person. He actually reminds me of Muku & Tsumugi (A3!): a worrywart, soft, shota, pastel hair, lower confidence, very thoughtful, might be a bit of a pushover and likes gardening. Oh, I love his color scheme as well. Blue and pueple are very pretty. I somehow get the feeling, that if Ra*bits were to be put into an apocalypse setting, he'd be the first to kill to protect his friends. Or maybe not.

7.5/10 - he'd slay cottagecore, idk what to say to him but I don't mind seeing more I guess

Conclusion

I'm definitely intrigued by their clear division of idol persona and their own personality. Not saying, that they're completely different but it adds a little bit of smth. I think I'll also look forward their stories, which isn't what I expected.

On another note, even though I read their Ep.1 to get to know them better, I somehow focused more on the world building or how it acknowldeges real themes in the idol industry. Also, I'm not used to seeing idols, that aren't in high school in fiction.

hi!! my love ilysm- ive been a ghost follower for so long lmao :( but i was wondering how you do manga colorings? like whats ur process of getting a digital picture to color?? asking bc i might want to do smth like that 🥺🥺 love u bye

Hiya!!! My process takes me forever but it's the one that I find works with me the most! I'll do this under a cut because I'll include some images <333 one thing I can say if you do start doing them is just experiment have fun!!!!

Firstly I use Paint Tool Sai to do my colourings <3 when I want to find an image I might type up something like (character name) manga panels, or I'll look on the image section of their wiki. If I have my manga near me then I'll look through and then when I find something I like I'll type up (series name) (chapter) and then look until I find the image I want! Then I save the image and open it up in Sai and then resize it (my sizing is so inconsistent so it changes almost every image....)

Here we have a picture of Douma that I did in Jan! after I've put the image in I'll lower the opacity of it down to around 30%

Then I reline everything! To me it personally makes things look a little more clean and just easier to work with when it comes to actually colouring! Any messy areas I'll clean up when I zoom in after I've added colours!

Then I add my flat colours! I don't always stick to the canon colours for a character, for example Douma's nails are more of a purple colour but I like to colour them black. And he also has some gold to his colour scheme but I changed it to silver since it matches his hair a lot more!

After that I colour the line art. To do this I just lock the layer (so for example if I'm doing the hair I'll find my hair layer and then click preserve opacity and then go over it with the colour I want!) It's during this stage I'm really able to find any line art errors!

Then I like to shade and add any details! I like doing cell shading because it's just easier personally! and I put it anywhere I think it might go! I'm not an artist so I really just guess this part! I like doing stars in the hair and I like to (try) and make things look a little sparkly

Then I add a background and then put an overlay on the top of all the layers. I normally go for a red overlay but I'll sometimes do purple or blue depending on character and vibe I want. Then I add my URL on the top and then save it!!!

Hopefully that was easy to understand!!! I'm thinking of changing my style ever so slightly but this is how I do thing every single time! It takes me a while (like a few hours in total) but that's also because I get distracted easy lol!!! I hope you do delve into manga colouring! I enjoy it so much! I might not be the greatest but I create for myself and I try my best to have fun and that's what matters <3

So.. i got sick of my IG account

It has been a while since i got some likes from somebody and the only ppl who give me those are my friends. And even that’s getting fewer.

I tried to come up with a reason.

1. Is it bc of lack of communication?

2. Is my drawing not a trend?

3. Is my drawing sucks?

[1] I don’t use my drawing account for communication bc i communicate with people on my daily life account and it feels so awkward when i try to write something down. Especially writing ‘long’. It’s like i wrote something on my diary in the midnight and feels so cringy when i look it again after i wake up. I don’t prefer writing down for that reason. And the main thing is that my drawing account ended up having only viewers that they know me in offline. I’m afraid of my problems or thoughts being disclosed to known people. Like.. you know. It might be heterogeneous to them that a gal that looked relaxed and humorous actually is having a rotten mind af. But this one looks pretty friendly to write and since no one watches, i might be able to write some freely.

[2] When i looked around to my friends’ drawing accounts, they seems to draw something aesthetic. Like going to karaoke, taking a selfie,etc. They also draw characters from anime too. Anyway, the point is that they draw something that people (especially in my age 16) like. They sometimes draw what kids ask them to draw as well. They get a lot of comments of their drawing beloved or even get some offer for joining drawing club. That might be bc they are good at communicating with their friends and know what they want. That’s their talent and what i envy for. I love my arts so bad, but when I imagine my friends looking at my drawing,,,,nah,,I mean my friends in overall are so cute and positive. And of course I always feel so thankful to my viewers too but i..i actually wanna get some comments.. i sometimes confused whether my viewers are clicking like bc they really like my post or just clicking bc they are my followers or friends. Mostly those might be latter, but i wish they at least looked at my post for seconds and think that’s pretty nice.

[3] I can be sure about this. I draw well than any other people around me. I know the shading best, lighting best, and I make angle the best. To see this objectively, i have more techniques than any other kids and i have an experience of winning in poster design contest held in school. (Sounds petty, but it was quite a big one that my design has been made into a banner!!) But the thing is that I was trying to figure out in youtube one day why my account doesn’t grow up, they only said “hashtags don’t matter. Contents are important. Try to improve your contents then your account will grow up.” < does that mean my drawing sucks..? is it not enough to get attention yet?? All i wanted was just getting a few likes from strangers! Even just 10 likes! But yeah,, that would mean more than that.. I could just draw what people like. And follow the trend. But I can’t lie myself that my style is this creepy deepy one and it’s my identity. It’s my brand. I dk how to get rid of this one but they also say that post things frequently is the best. Even that i can’t do that! I’m a highschool student and have to focus on preparing for university. That’s the saddest thing about getting older.
