my evil exes "what they get at starbucks" headcanons because i wrote them a month ago and still have brainrot + i worked at starbucks for two years so i Know Things ok
matthew- i don't wanna be that bitch and say chai, but i don't think he likes coffee. he wants to seem like he does though, so im gonna say an iced mocha bc the flavor overpowers most of the coffee. also a cheese danish.
lucas- something fucking nasty. espresso frap w an extra shot. and probably like 4 of the grilled cheeses.
todd- i don't know what's vegan there, but he's also not REALLY vegan so. im gonna say green tea lemonade. he sneaks cake pops when envy isn't looking.
roxy- vanilla bean frap duhhhh. she also gets the cake pops or a lemon loaf.
twins- grouping them together bc idk and they're also fairly similar. i think peach green tea or iced matcha w sweet cream foam. they get the turkey bacon breakfast sandwiches too.
gideon- brown sugar shaken espresso w like 2 added shots, caramel drizzle, sweet cream cold foam, and cinnamon sugar sprinkles, but he also wants it blonde and half decaf and will yell at you when you tell him he can't do both + coffee cake.
bonus: gordon goose- julie makes him wait in the car. he will get a lemonade and a cake pop and He Will Like It.

Jaune: *Walking up to Whitley* You know, I wish I had girls fighting over my Noodle and Meat sauce.
Whitley: ... Do you think before you speak? That sounded Rather Crass.
Jaune: Eh. Good job on winning. You should go console your sisters though, they aren't doing to well.
~~~~~
Weiss: *Crying* Why! Why can't I cook! why am I so ba-a-ad!
Winter: *Tears running down her cheeks* Now, Weiss, we must learn to take failure in stride.
Winter: *Internally* When you try your best~ but you don't succeed~
Proposal based on your food post and some things in Fallout.
:readmore:
Homemade sodas and sweet drinks are incredibly common based on home recipes passed down through the generations.
In Fallout new Vegas, and in Fallout 4 you can make drinks such as Nuka-Cola.
Filtering water and making it drinkable will be a big priority wherever you go. But making it palatable will also be a big goal.
Local settlements will probably mix sweeteners like syrup, juices, or even honey to mix it in the water.
Tea will be very popular too with all kinds of local teas made from local plants, sweetened with local sweeteners, and traded or even sold to each other.
Tea has the advantage of being boiled, filtered, and flavored making it a popular drink with massive variants between region to region and even settlement to settlement.
Brahmin milk will have a lot of nutrients and apparently good for treating radiation so odds are its also used as a medicine and a big part of a lot of diets.
Some rare drinks may still be possible but take a lot of work such as coffee, and ice cream.
Coffee needs specific growth and a lot of space to grow. So maybe it'll grow in small quantities.
There's ways to make ice cream without machines but it takes a lot of salt, ice, and milk. So you'd have to be very wealthy or very well located to have it
Shaved ice with simple syrups and fruits may make good treats in areas where there's a lot of ice
I fully agree with all of this! Not including it was probably a bit of an oversight on my part, but this is exactly the kind of extrapolation and worldbuilding I was aiming for.
Soda was invented in the mid 1800s, so I don't think it's beyond the realm of possibility for people to have reinvented soft drinks. Originally, the water was taken from springs that were naturally carbonated and today, we can do it at home with compressed CO2. Even if the drinks aren't carbonated, I totally believe and agree with the idea that they're making sweet drinks.
I was going to mention in the original post and forgot, but lemons? Those things totally still exist. Citrus is too much of a botanical freak not to have survived. It might not be lemons (or limes, or oranges) as we know them, but they are OUT THERE and that means lemonade is real.
Tea is canon within the realm of fallout because you can brew several different varieties in 76. Also, hot drinks are comforting, especially in the winter and I think it's totally reasonable to think that new brews have popped up with the addition Coffee grows in Mexico at a similar latitude to Florida and parts of the southern united states, so I think you could claim that certain strains have been cultivated and grown in those areas, though it might be rare and extremely expensive.
Ice cream's origins are known to reach back as far as the second century B.C., although no specific date of origin nor inventor has been undisputably credited with its discovery. We know that Alexander the Great enjoyed snow and ice flavored with honey and nectar. Biblical references also show that King Solomon was fond of iced drinks during harvesting. During the Roman Empire, Nero Claudius Caesar (A.D. 54-86) frequently sent runners into the mountains for snow, which was then flavored with fruits and juices.
Ice cream is one HUNDRED percent a thing in the wasteland. The milk and cream is easy to source from Brahmin milk. Cane sugar can be grown in Florida and Louisiana, so it's not unreasonable to think that that's another rare and expensive import. It would be easier and cheaper to get your sugar from tree sap or malt grain or reduced fruits, but cane sugar is out there. Making ice cream is a pretty popular thing for kids to do -- put some rock salt and ice in a bag with cream, sugar, and vanilla, and shake it until it freezes. On the coast, salt is probably pretty abundant, even if it's time consuming to harvest, but vanilla is probably one spice that nobody has access to in the wasteland.
Ice houses and cold cellars are probably pretty common in the wasteland, so ice could be available all year round. Plus, refrigeration is useful in the process of preserving foods rather than canning or bottling.
I think it's important to keep in mind that people are smart, and just because the bombs dropped, we didn't revert back to the stone age. The knowledge of canning, bottling, making jams and preserves, cold storage, curing meat, making cheese -- all that knowledge is old. Just because modern technology makes it easier doesn't mean people couldn't do it two hundred years ago. If the knowledge is lost, logic and human ingenuity will rediscover it eventually.
hi mira I'm looking to try edibles for the first time do you have any recomendations
as far as products? not really from me, especially if it's your first time, the stuff i do is like nuclear bomb doses lmao. head on down to your local smoke shop and ask the dude at the counter for somethin (be careful tho the first time i did that they gave me 125mg gummies lmfao). cashiers at local random smoke shops usually like to throw around a lot of confusing abbreviations and stuff just know that most of it is basically bullshit lmao don't worry too much about all the marketing buzzwords and grab something that looks to be a combination of your desired flavor and potency. gummies are the usual thing, but there's also chocolates, sodas, pop rocks, etc. as far as practices? start off with a smaller dosage (~5-10mg, split a gummy if you need to) and see how you feel after an hour (set a timer after you drop it so you know around when it'll hit). be wary of the world famous edibles moment. it will happen to you, too. if it gets to be too much you can just go the fuck to sleep! (lemons/lemonade supposedly counteracts the effects of weed as well, though i'm unsure on it myself) personally i get acid reflux problems from edibles so i've always got tums n shit on hand, but i haven't met anyone else who has this problem lmao. be sure to spread your use out as well, lest you build up your tolerance and become a monster. most importantly have a good-ass time 😎
back at you though, drinks edition? a type of drink you couldn't do without, that is your go to for any occasion? give us the specific deets, recipe if needed
oh no you've activated my trap card i love drinks
okay so special occasion drink: brown sugar boba (50% ice 50% sweet) but specifically from the tea shop close-ish to my house. it's expensive so i don't go often but holy shit. they use actual proper tea and fresh-as-hell boba and it's just. it's so good, i think anything from there would be insanely worth it (but i've never bothered to branch out from perfection).
my daily bev: i can't be too specific on brand without lowkey doxxing myself a tad, but there's a local company that does this flavored black tea with cornflower, raspberry, red plum petals, and blueberry, and it's just. it's incredible. mellow and rich and lightly (but not overwhelmingly) floral and fruity. i have it every single day and i'm convinced it is the perfect tea.
and two other faves because you asked for recipes:
strawberry (cheong) lemonade: okay so this is more effort than truly necessary, but i went to one of those u-pick strawberry places last summer and then the cultivar fucking sucked so they weren't even good, so i made cheong with them, which is a korean fruit syrup/preserve you make by layering equal amounts of fruit and sugar in a jar and letting them sit (i put them in the fridge just to be safe) for a few weeks.
the end result is preserves that you can blend into a bangin' spread and a fruit syrup that is like the nectar of the fucking gods. i didn't think it would make a huge difference doing it that way rather than a typical heat-based reduction, but it tastes like fresh strawberries. you don't lose any of that to it breaking down via heat treatment, so similar to the difference between a cold brew and a heat-based one.
anyway those mixed with lemonade (i make a concentrate using half lemons and half regular lemon juice, and include some lemon zest) makes one of the best summer drinks i've ever had.
i'm adding a cut for the last one because i can't/won't stop now but i have some self-awareness. okay, last one:
vanilla chai: i haven't made this in a bit, because when i moved here i ended up using up my stock of cardamom, and the local brand available here is just... not it, and i'm still trying to work out the most cost-effective way to order them online. which is devastating, because cardamom is the flavor most beloved to me in chai. anyway-
the thing that rocks about chai is that it is not actually all that hard, and you can customize it so specifically to your taste. my go-to add-ins are cardamom (5-6 pods, crushed open), cloves (2-3), cinnamon (about half a stick, crushed a lil), fresh ginger (idk how to measure this one, like an inch or two?), and vanilla. i used to use vanilla bean paste i got ages ago as a gift, but that is too rich for the world we live in nowadays, so it's whatever vanilla i have.
technically there's a specific kind of tea you're supposed to use, but i prefer it with regular loose-leaf black tea (which i always have on hand anyway). so you basically get a small pot, and bring your water (about half to 3/4 of your mug) to a boil. once it does, add your tea leaves and spices (not vanilla tho) and let them vibe out there for 5-10 minutes.
then, add your milk (about half of your mug) and vanilla, and warm to desired temp, but don't let it boil (this is my personal preference). add desired amount of sugar to your mug (i usually do a small spoonful of white and a small spoonful of brown sugar) and pour the chai into the mug through a fine mesh sieve (to get out the spice bits). if you have a milk frother, i like to aerate it a bit before drinking (improves flavor and also makes it less likely to burn your tongue).
Because I haven’t done anything cyberpunk I’m a while, also bc I’m stalling for a drawing. Here’s the questers favorite types of junk food in cyberpunk (and IG any of my modern AUs)
Cuphead obviously likes anything sweet, especially lollipops. He doesn’t really care what flavor but he likes those mystery kinds that randomly pick for him; grape, and strawberry. But he also defaults to eating ravioli cups or cans if he needs a quick meal, or a snack. Or for comfort. Or if he’s just feeling it.
Mugman likes snacking on pokeys. His favorite flavor is regular chocolate and blueberry. Cuphead teases him about that relentlessly. “He likes blueberries so much it turned his nose blue” (A note from my friend @ireallylovepuppies101 ). Also, he really likes sour gummy candies. Like sour patch kids and sour fizzy skulls (I work at a Swedish candy store that last one might not make as much sense to my american friends).
Bendy has a bad habit of forgetting to eat when he’s stuck with a project (as does Holly) so he likes hot pockets. He doesn’t really have a favorite flavor, whatever he can grab at the corner store. He’ll usually eat these as a last minute meal if he forgets to eat dinner. It drives Cuphead INSANE. He also likes any kind of bacon flavored chips or pretzels.
Boris is the one in the workshop that actually remembers to eat. He often has to remind Bendy and Holly to actually eat if Cuphead isn’t there to remind him. Boris is kind of a sucker for Mac ‘n cheese cups or just regular Mac n’ cheese in the boxes. He likes to cut up hot dogs or little bits of ham and mix them in his Mac ‘n cheese for a little extra protein. He also makes sure if that is going to be his meal that he also eat some fruits or veggies with it.
Felix doesnt really eat junk food but he occasionally likes a good vanilla milkshake. He also enjoys chocolate biscuits and cookies. I tried looking up british chocolate cookie brands but I’m obviously not british so idk what’s good. But there was a thing called McVities Chocolate Digestives. I imagine he’d like the lemon drizzle flavor. He also likes Girl Scout cookies. If there’s someone selling them he’s buying their whole stock of cookies. He especially likes Samoa, Thin mints, and Lemonades. He doesn’t eat those a whole lot, they’re kind of special occasion things or comfort food. Whenever he’s feeling nostalgic.
Holly likes lollipops of course, preferring cherry and blue raspberry flavors. But really any flavor will do. But she also likes ramen! If you go into her section of the workshop where she codes you’ll see a lot of cup ‘o noodles cups everywhere. If she decides to cook ramen she likes to cook it with some egg and chopped up onions, carrots, celery, and potatoes to make it a bit more hearty and filling.
Alice doesn’t eat junk food that much. She does like marshmallows, especially s’mores or any kind of chocolate covered marshmallow. But she also likes donuts. >:) (for the people who read inky mystery you know that Holly scared Alice into thinking that eating donuts makes you a bad person.) So she only likes specific kinds of donuts. She loves apple fritters, long john donuts, and crullers because they don’t look like your average donuts. So she doesn’t realize those are actually donuts. She thinks they’re just regular weirdly shaped pastries. No one has the guts to tell her they’re actually donuts.
If you wanna hear other characters let me know!!!!
The Great Faerun Baking Show (part five)
Tumblr media
Hello people. I cannot be stopped. Do you know how long I spent making up and looking up weird desserts? Do you have any idea how hard I tried to come up with a baking-related pun using the word 'Menzobarranzan'? I have a Problem.
(I failed thinking of a pun, by the way. Feel free to comment whatever you come up with and then I'll kick myself for not being as clever as you)
For those of you who are just stopping by, I had a horrible idea a while ago and this is the result. I have no idea what's going to happen or who's going to win. I’m just going to roll a D20 ‘bake check’ for everyone and write out the results, including what everyone rolled so y’all know I’m not cheating just so my druid boyfriend can win.  The person with the lowest total score (out of a possible score of 60) goes home.
We've got the main 6 companions, Jaheira, Halsin, Minsc (and Boo), Minthara, Dammon, and my tav Medora (who y'all can just pretend is Alfira if you don't want someone else's tav in the story, since they're both female bards)
Week One, Cake Week: Star baker was Karlach, Minthara went home
Week Two, Biscuit Week: Star baker was Halsin, Shadowheart went home
Week Three, Bread Week: Star baker was Wyll, Jaheira went home
Week Four, Pies and Tarts Week: Star baker was Wyll, Minsc went home
Week Four: Underdark Week, or "Just Like Lolth Used to Make"
Signature: Sussur loaf
This cake uses sussur fruit instead of eggs, which provides a unique gelatinous quality. They also glow in the dark, which of course they do.
Tumblr media
Astarion: Blackberry and vanilla sussur loaf. He got the proportions wrong, and after upending his pan onto his serving dish the sussur loaf oozed out in a puddle. The flavor was nice, but the presentation was horrible.
Dammon: Peach lemonade sussur loaf. Part of the loaf stuck to the pan, but he did his best to decorate it with leftover sussur fruit to hide it. The dark silhouettes on the glowing cake disrupted the traditional clean look, but there was nothing to complain about regarding the flavor.
Gale: Pandan and star anise sussur loaf. The star anise flavor was a bit too strong and the loaf was underbaked, but overall he received positive comments from the judges.
Halsin: Honey and lavender sussur loaf. The alien-looking cake and the homey flavors made a wonderful contrast, and it was baked almost perfectly.
Karlach: Gin and tonic sussur loaf. While her loaf was in the oven she passed around measuring cups of booze for the other bakers, the hosts, the camera crew... Things came out quite nicely, but the taste was ALMOST too boozy.
Lae'zel: Ginger and passionfruit sussur loaf. A nearly-flawless bake that came almost perfectly out of the pan. She expected no less, of course.
Medora: Rose and orange blossom sussur loaf. The floral flavors and the glow of the cake made her dessert look ethereal. She went a bit too heavy-handed with the rose, however.
Wyll: Lemon and thyme sussur loaf. The Blade isn't familiar with the Underdark, and it showed, unfortunately. The loaf was very overbaked, which dims the signature glow, and the thyme was overwhelmed by the lemon.
Technical: Menzobarranzan Tavuk Göğsü
This seemingly inocuous custard-based dessert contains a secret ingredient: shredded bulette meat. You apparently can't taste it if you prepare it correctly, and it provides a more robust texture to the dessert.
Tumblr media
From worst to best:
8. Medora
7. Astarion
6. Gale
5. Halsin
4. Karlach
3. Dammon
2. Wyll
Lae'zel
Showstopper: Myconid Cake
What better way to showcase the natural beauty of the underdark than to bake a tribute to those weird and wonderful mushroom people? Cakes must have two tiers and beautifully decorated.
Tumblr media
Astarion: Tiramisu cake. The soaking syrup he put on the layers made the cake too wet, but the flavors were well balanced. He wasn't able to make as many decorations as he liked, but the ones he managed to create were nice.
Dammon: Earl Grey cake with raspberries. And with enough myconid-like decorations that it looked like a cavern in the Underdark. Nearly flawless.
Gale: Triple chocolate cake. Had a very ambitious idea to do three tiers, each with a different flavor batter, different filling... and time got away from him. His presentation was very sloppy, and as he frosted the cakes while they were still hot due to the time constraints, the frosting melted right off.
Halsin: Orange and thyme cake. A unique combination of sweet and savory, again using herbs he foraged himself. His decorations were incredibly detailed, and the cakes themselves had a very delicate texture.
Karlach: Carrot cake. Carrots are roots. Roots grow in the ground. Mushrooms grow in the ground. It works. Unfortunately carrot cake takes quite a long time to bake properly, and hers were still nearly liquid on the inside when she took them out of the oven. She salvaged what she could, but gave up on trying to make things pretty with two minutes left on the clock, and went to find the last of the gin and tonic from the signature round.
Lae'zel: Lemon elderflower cake. The lemon overpowered the elderflower and the cake was slightly overbaked, but her militant attention to detail made the rock candy decorations incredibly precise.
Medora: Mojito cake. It was far too boozy and the presentation was definitely lacking, but at least the cakes were baked properly.
Wyll: Strawberries and champagne cake. Apparently it's Boozy Bakes club this week, and he was a card-carrying member. A surprisingly delicate flavor, and beautifully balanced with the strawberries.
The Results:
Tumblr media
Our star baker this week with a total of 52/60 is Lae'zel!
Tumblr media
And with a score of 24/60, Astarion is leaving the tent today.
Tumblr media
So I hope y'all are okay with me taking some creative liberties with the bakes today. Suspend your disbelief. Except for the Tavuk Göğsü which is a real traditional Turkish dessert that honestly sounds super interesting to me. How can you put chicken in a dessert and not taste it. I gotta know.
Feel free to play along in the comments! How would your tav or favorite npc compare?
Omg we're halfway through! We've got dessert week next.
grocery list time~
literally just get these things if you want a vegan low cal life, because you can control portions and make things you enjoy eating with less calories- i made some example recipes under the list:
coffee.
SPICES. please make the investment into SPICES!
->continuation of spices, heres a basic list- cocoa powder, cinnamon, garlic powder, onion powder, chili powder, veggie bouillon powder/cubes, salt, pepper, lemon pepper, etc (you can find more online but please dont forget it)
->and simple sauces like soy sauce, basic hot sauce, mustard, white vinegar, apple cider vinegar, etc.
stevia or agave fruit sweetener. (please make sure whatever you choose you dont buy any sweetener with aspartame!!)
dairy free yogurt (i’ve heard coconut is good)
dairy free butter (earthbalance is my fav by far)
-> you could also make due with olive oil (cooking)
1st milk for normal stuff- unsweet cashew milk or unsweet creamy almond milk
->2nd milk for cooking- i suggest soymilk but creamy coconutmilk works good too
tofu. extra firm and silky work for different things (meat substitutes, egg substitute, diff. milk products substitutes) get either/both
carrots, mushrooms, chickpeas, and cauliflower all make good meat substitutes (bacon, chicken nuggets, pulled pork, etc) if cooked properly
OATS! plain oats are soooo versatile (used as flour, cereal, granola, crust, etc)
ricecakes (i use it as replacement for toast)
Pumpkin or sweet potato (in NO SYRUP canned form, very good for cooking low cal desserts or protein bars)
apple sauce (used for cooking and just yum- can be an egg substitute)
low cal noodle types- chickpea, edamame, shirataki, konjac, cauliflower, zucchini, spaghetti squash, and i think miracle noodle
literally any and all veggies and fruits- but a reminder of basics are broccoli, cucumber, onions, spinach, beets, eggplant, tomato, zucchini, potato, apple, banana, grapes, oranges, pineapple, strawberries, watermelon, mango, etc
WARNING ⚠️ be careful of sugar free drink flavor packets as they contain aspartame and other strange ingredients that ppl have complained of side effects- i would suggest to steer clear of many of the packets and go for a large unsweetened lemonade or fruit punch bin of flavoring so you can make it yourself. please check ingredients for health reasons.
-> HOWEVER, drinks like olipop, simple truth organic, waterloo, and zevia all have flavored water/sparkling water/cola drinks that are aspartame free.
I highlighted things that i think are really important
Veggie dip: yogurt, seasoning spices (ranch seasoning is goated), and a tbsp or lemon or soysauc, all mixed and best used as a “veggie chip” dip, like baked cucumber chips
Literally any cake/protein bar: oats blended, protein powder, 1/2cup apple sauce OR mashed banana, some milk, and whatever toppings you like
Granola: oats, chia seeds, cut up fruit pieces, and maple syrup or honey for binding. mix in bag, bake on baking sheet on pan.
Hot n sour soup: you can use hot n sour packet or make veggie bouillon and add hot sauce, soy sauce, and tsp chili powder. Then (to whichever mix you’ve made) add egg mixing around, and then add extra firm tofu in little cubes. Let the soup mix well and set a little while cooling.
Nicecream: freeze banana. add banana, tbsp of milk, 2 tbsp of yogurt, tbsp of sweetener, and a fruit of choice (a tbsp of protein powder also will help). blend with blender and then let it sit for a minute- add whatever you want on top
my best “toast”: seasalt ricecake, spread 1tbsp vegan cream cheese, and then spread 1.5 tbsp of organic raspberry jelly.
Beverage. How do you Beverage? Tea? coffee? choccy? juice? what kind? woter? do you add anything? temperature? Provide Details on your Beverage Consumption methods.
Used to be Huge into drinks but over time i sort of petered out on that front. I'm a room temp water from the tap kinda guy. Love minerals.
However even if I don't do fancy drinks anymore here's my drink opinions
Lemonade ; I don't like a lot of store brand lemonades anymore [too sweet] But! I do like making lemonade at home sometimes during the summer, from lemons I Didn't steal from the neighbors tree I Didn't steal them inswear. I don't add a lot of sugar and sometimes I add pepper as well! It's nice and refreshing esp with some ice in it.
Sodas; After big parties [new years for example] once we have them we tend to have a lot of leftover mixers and syrups/purees for alcoholic drinks so I just toss some into club soda or ginger ale and call it a day as well. Very fun! Other than that I'm really not into them big time, do like root beer though sometimes. And ginger ale by itself!
Milk; when I get sick I make some milk with turmeric and a little bit of sugar and pepper, it helps keep me pretty warm and tastes really good! Helps with the sickness too but being nice to drink is a plus when every other aryuvedic remedy is bitter as hell lol. I do like hot chocolate and it's probably the only thing I order from cafes if I order at all
coffees; I don't drink em. I'm a wuss, they're too bitter and caffeine doesn't work on me in the slightest lol. I do like coffee flavor in cakes and sweets though! It's just the bitterness that gets to me
Tea; I like tea, both chai and more English style tea though I don't have the second as often as I'd like. I like licorice and lemon tea :] not much to say because I love chai with a packet of biscuits and the feeling of having one in the morning is unparamount I swear.
Juices; I don't drink juice a lot anymore but I like orange juice with the pulp and apple juice a lot. Lychee is also very nice but it's so sweet. Mango also, guava is a lot milder which I can appreciate though. Every once in a while when I go to India cash and carry I get this lychee drink with little soaked basil seeds that have expanded. Sorta like a chia drink but slightly to the left! I love the textures
Typically I don't add anything to my drinks and have them warm [if they're hot drinks] to room temp. If it's a summer day i throw in ice, but that's about it. I live simply and happily..
I consume drinks by drinking them through my mouth, by the way. thank you very much .
I didn't go to Coachella because I hate the desert, and also, I have an adult job that requires me to actually do work (ugh capitalism) but I did go to the opening for the new Neat Burger location in NYC and here are my thoughts.
So first things first, we ordered A LOT of food between my bestie and I. We got the Neat burger, the cheez Burger, The buffalo chickn burger, the chicken fingers, the tater tots, the fries (spicy), 2 shakes (strawberry and biscotti), and a lemonade. We wanted to try a bit of everything to form an opinion.
The Neat burger is just a double cheese burger with Neat sauce (not sure what the sauce was or was supposed to taste like because it wasn't really flavorful). There was no difference between the two for me. I hated the burgers lol but I knew I would because it's a soy based patty and I don't like those so welp). 4/10
The Buffalo chicken burger was really good. The sauce 👌🏾👌🏾. The chickn patty has a much better consistency than the faux beef patties. 7/10
The chickn tendies were probably my favorite meat substitute. They were crunchy and flavorful. 8/10
The tater tots were tasty but greasy. We could see the oil pooling at the bottom which wasn't great. 6/10.
The French fries were great. I ordered them spicy but you could order them plain or with cheese on top. They weren't actually spicy, the just dusted Cajun seasoning on top but they were crunchy and tasty. They don't beat McDonald's but they were pretty good. 7/10
The lemonade tasted like actual lemons which was a plus but its pretty difficult to screw up lemonade so I'm indifferent. 5/10
The shakes. The shakes were the best part of the meal. They were REALLY good. Like if you go for nothing else, go for the shakes. Both the strawberry and biscotti were great but the flavors didn't taste artificial or overpowering. It's even better when you know you wont feel like crap later for drinking so much dairy. 10/10
Lastly, the ambience was a solid 10. The decor was a vibe. The staff were kind and they had live music (a saxophone player) which was cool.
Castletown Café Episode 24: Butler Juice (Yellow)
Tumblr media
HEY EVERY  !! Been a while, hasn't it? I’m back with another Butler Juice that’s as sunny and flavorful as summer itself: the yellow variety! While Butler Juice is said to change color and flavor with temperature, this sunshine-colored-punch tastes best when kept refrigerated, especially during warmer weather.
I experimented a bit with the amounts of pineapple and mango for this drink to achieve a delicious result, so that the pineapple doesn’t overpower the flavor. Because mango is used, it may have a slightly slimy texture, but with a cheesecloth, I managed to reduce its sliminess a bit. If you’re hypersensitive to food textures, you can just remove the mango to get yourself a pineapple lemonade. Still yellow, still delicious.
You’ll also need fresh lemons, about 3 or 4, to get one whole cup of freshly squeezed lemon juice. I only needed two and a half because I had bought some huge lemons, but average-size lemons may call for at least four , but if you’re using even smaller lemons, such as Meyer lemons, you may need 8! One thing to keep in mind: the heavier the lemon, the more juice it has, so be sure to get yourself some lemons with a good weight to them!
Just like in my recipe for the blue Butler Juice, you’ll need simple syrup - about 3/4 cup of it to dilute the tartness of the lemon and pineapple juice! I’ll repeat the recipe for that here, just so you don’t have to go looking for it (or if you don’t want to tap the link). I suggest making the simple syrup first, before juicing your lemons.
For the pineapple, you only need 1 cup. You can use fresh or canned, I opted for buying fresh, pre-sliced pineapple because whole ones can be very tricky to cut up, what with their tough skin and everything. If you’re skipping the mangoes entirely, you can add more pineapple to taste to make up for it.
Speaking of mangoes, you’ll need two. I try to get as much of the fruit in there as possible. For mango cutting, (this guide explains it better than I can), you cut the wide ends off, slice the fruit, but try not to cut the peel. Turn the peel inside out, and scrape the fruit off of it and into your blender or food processor. Repeat this three more times. Now, you’ll still have some fruit around the large, flat seed in the middle. Those parts are harder to cut off. I try to peel what’s left, then slice as much fruit off near the big stone as I can. Often, I’m squeezing the remaining fruit around the stone over the blender to get as much juice out of it, because the fruit there is stringy and hard to cut off. Since mangoes are a slimy fruit, it may be better not to try this as it may make your drink slimier, but I like to get as much of that tasty mango juice in there as possible!
Water is also needed, mainly to dilute the lemon juice. The water is added to the pineapple and mango and blended all together (the lemon juice and simple syrup go into a big bowl or pitcher first and are mixed together). Use a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth, whichever you have that’s finer, to separate as much juice from the pulp as possible. Strain and squeeze over your bowl as you’ll have more room and are less likely to miss.
Stir up your juice and then ladle it into a pitcher, then store it in your refrigerator.
BUTLER JUICE (YELLOW):
3/4 cup granulated sugar
4 cups water, divided
2 mangoes, peeled and cubed
1 cup pineapple, cut into bite-sized slices
1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice (about 3-4 average-sized lemons)
Combine sugar and 1 cup of water in a saucepan over medium-high heat. Bring to a boil, stirring occasionally. Once syrup is boiling, reduce heat to low and let simmer for five minutes, stirring occasionally, until sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat and let cool.
Wash and dry lemons and mangoes, slice lemons in half and squeeze out the juice with a hand citrus juicer, until you fill up 1 cup. Add lemon juice to a large mixing bowl with 3/4 cup cooled syrup and stir.
Slice off the wide sides of the mangoes and slice fruit into cubes without cutting the peel, then turn inside out (OR you can just peel and cube your mango halves). Scrape cubed mango off the peel into the blender. Peel and cut off remaining mango around the core and add into the blender as well.
Slice up fresh pineapple chunks or canned pineapple and fill 1 cup - don’t chop TOO finely however, or that will be way more pineapple than you need (unless you’re omitting the mango). Just cut up big chunks into bite-sized pieces. Add to blender.
Add the remaining 3 cups of water into the blender, put the lid on, and set to Liquefy or Puree. Blend until a smooth, lumpy juice forms.
With a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth, squeeze out or strain the pineapple-mango mixture to separate as much juice from the fruit pulp as possible. You may need to do this a little at a time if you’re using a cheesecloth.
Stir together your yellow Butler Juice, and ladle into a pitcher. Place in the refrigerator to chill and to keep it fresh.
Pour juice into a glass and enjoy!
If your ocs were drinks what drinks would they be?
i have like 20-30 ocs and i can't assign all of them drinks so i'm just gonna do the excalibur main 5!
nova - probably one of those classic strawberry milkshakes! fun and sweet, but still familiar :D it also helps that strawberries (or at least the merlinete strawberry equivalent brawstberries) are her favourite fruit
paro - lemon water or lemonade! water is simple and essential, but the lemon gives it a unique spin that lets it stand out from the rest - not to mention that paro can be sour sometimes, but his sweetness overpowers that side of him :]
optico - a fruit smoothie! a big blend of flavors that come together to make one drink - just like optico's many forms! a healthy refresher too!
clyde - maybe one of those energy drinks like an original monster? the can might look dark and unfriendly, though it has a fun, bold flavor!
v-con - definitely something with alcohol and sweet things involved! like a beer ice cream float with sprinkles and donuts and stuff like that - high calorie, over-the-top, perfect for a party!
feel free to ignore this but. i need to tell you about what flavor i think each p5 cookie is. joker is dark chocolate ganache, morgana is those two tone cookies at walmart, ryuji is lemon poppyseed, ann is birthday cake, yusuke is stracciatella, makoto is blackberry lemonade, futaba is like a chocolate dipped orange, haru is oolong tea but with a blackberry drizzle, akechi tastes like fondant because he’s a fake ass bitch, and sumire is raspberry and blueberry jam. also because he is my favorite character i’m adding mishima in this he tastes like those marshmallows with the chocolate in the center.
I LOVE THIS AND I AGREE!!!
When I first drew them, I had a few ideas for flavors but I was never quite sure. My only ideas were Joker as some kinda coffee, Ryuji as something lemony, and Yoshizawa as some kinda strawberry thing like strawberry licorice or strawberry roll cake.
I like your ideas a lot >:) the akechi one made me laugh
This made my day like it made me really happy to see this-
So, I got the sudden motivation to draw a cookie Mishima!! :D
Remember how I said that my sneeze headcanons were the dumbest ones? I lied. I outclassed myself
Servamp characters and lemons is my newest pinnacle of headcanons
🍋 🍋 🍋
Lawless and Mahiru find it refreshing, but they’re both the type who likes citrus flavored things in general. It’s fragrant, fruity, but not too sweet. Lawless in particular is a fan of lemon filling for pastries, especially with poppy seed. He like’a the cronch.
For Mahiru, while he prefers oranges by a wide margin, lemon patterned things tend to catch his eyes more. The bright, sunny yellow is just so cheerful! He also finds lemon scented products the nicest for cleaning. It’s fresh~
Mikuni prefers it more as a background note than a main flavor. He’s not too fond of sour things but he finds that the clean, cut through of citrus is great for waking up in the morning. The heady scent of the flowers can be too much for him though. Misono suffers from similar issues, and when paired with his allergies?? Yeah no lol. Artificial dyes used to color candy are also no go’s for each of them.
Tsurugi doesn’t like it at all outside of super sweet lemonade lol. Child’s palette.
Ildio will eat them like orange wedges, much to Nicco’s horror. He’ll eat the peel too if you let him. Please don’t let him.
Youtarou also likes lemon flavored things, but it has to be paired with something sweeter. He doesn’t like lemon candy very much, but LOVES lemon curd. Gear, on the other hand, always makes such an incredible face lmao. It’s the smell I think. It can be overwhelming.
During summer especially, Sakuya loves lemon flavored soda! Belkia in general seems like he’d enjoy sour things? Like to the point his tongue physically hurts by he won’t stop eating lemon drops.
