Homosexuality and the First Fifteen Roman Emperors
Tumblr media
English historian Edward Gibbon (1737–1794) famously declared that "of the first fifteen emperors, Claudius was the only one whose taste in love was entirely correct" [i.e. strictly heterosexual]... but how true is that statement?
I did a little research and, while in no way offering a definitive answer over the matter, found evidence of homosexual activities for thirteen out of fifteen names. Besides the already mentioned Claudius, I didn't find any allegations about Vespasian and Antoninus Pius, who also seemed to be strictly attracted to women.
With the exception of the ones about Nerva and Hadrian, all following quotes were taken from Craig A. Williams' Roman Homosexuality.
(Warning: most quotes include mentions of some kind of non-consensual relationship, including with minors)
AUGUSTUS
Augustus himself acquired the reputation of an avid womanizer, but he also was said to have kept male slaves as his deliciae or “darlings,” one of whom, named Sarmentus, is mentioned in passing by Plutarch.
Augustus, one late source gossips, used to sleep in the midst of twelve catamiti and as many girls.
TIBERIUS
Funerary inscriptions from the imperial household under Augustus and Tiberius reveal that among the different positions filled by slaves in the palace were those of glaber ab cyatho (a smooth boy who served wine), glabrorum ornator (a male slave who served as beautician for the smooth boys), and puerorum ornatrix (a female beautician for boys).
Suetonius’ allusion to Galba’s tastes for mature males is far removed in tone from his explicitly moralizing condemnation of Tiberius’ shocking sexual use of very young boys (what he did “cannot be mentioned or heard, let alone believed”).
CALIGULA
Suetonius uses the coded phrase “pudicitiae neque suae neque alienae pepercit” (“he spared neither his own nor others’ pudicitia,” signifying that he played the receptive and insertive roles in penetrative acts respectively), and then reports some examples in rapid succession: two relationships with men that seem to have involved an exchange of role; an affair with a young nobleman named Valerius Catullus in which Caligula played the receptive role (Valerius claimed to have been worn out by his exertions).
CLAUDIUS
Suetonius has this to say of the emperor Claudius: “He was possessed of an extravagant desire for women, having no experience with males whatsoever."
NERO
Suetonius, Tacitus, Dio Cassius, and Aurelius Victor tell us that the emperor Nero publicly celebrated at least two wedding ceremonies with males, one in which he was the groom and one or perhaps two in which he was the bride, and they provide stunning details: dowry was given, a bridal veil worn.
GALBA
Suetonius records that the emperor Galba was particularly fond of men who were “very hard and grown up,” and it is worth noting that Galba’s fondness for mature men seems to have caused no eyebrows to rise, presumably because he was observing the two basic protocols of masculine sexual comportment: maintaining the appearance of an appropriately dominant stance with his partners and keeping himself to his own slaves and to prostitutes.
OTHO
Dio notes that Galba’s successor Otho alienated many people by having relations with Sporos and generally associating with Nero’s followers.
VITELLIUS
Vitellius began his brief reign as emperor in A.D. 69 by publicly honoring a freedman of his named Asiaticus, with whom he had had a stormy affair when Asiaticus was a young slave of his.
VESPASIAN
[No reports of homosexual activities.]
TITUS
Dio also mentions Domitian’s affair with Earinos, adding that the emperor’s brother and predecessor Titus had shared his tastes for eunuchs.
DOMITIAN
Statius imagines Venus proclaiming that Domitian’s beloved eunuch, Earinos, will surpass in his beauty some legendarily gorgeous young men: Endymion, Attis, Narcissus, and Hylas—the first two of whom were loved by goddesses.
NERVA
It is often insisted that Domitian was sexually abused by his eventual successor, the Emperor Nerva.
TRAJAN
Trajan kept delicati, and this detail is dropped in such a way as to suggest that this was a standard feature of the imperial household.
HADRIAN
Hadrian appears to have preferred the company of men and homosexual relations. The great love of his life, Antinous, was a young man from Bithynia.
ANTONINUS PIUS
[No reports of homosexual activities.]

Due to your recent post:
🖊+ Lacrimosa Ambrose (what a woman <3)
P.S.: Have a nice day! :3
SDFGHJKLJHGFDFGHJKKJH I love you I love you I love you and you ALSO have a nice day!!! <333
HOOOOOOOO BOY I'M GONNA DUMP A L O T OF STUFF :D I'M GONNA GET LENGTHY BUT HHHHHHHH PLEASE BARE WITH ME
DISCLAIMER: Lackadaisy belongs to @lackadaisycats and it is a beautiful animation and web comic, I HIGHLY recommend.
Below The Surface is my 2023 Lackadaisy fic. It will be linked below <3
Lacrimosa Ambrose - The Siren:
FIRST IDEAS:
At first, I wanted to make a villain for Lackadaisy. I was doing this purely for the sake of my Murder Mystery fic Below the Surface (posted here and currently being worked on here!) and I wanted someone who was a REALLY big threat. And so, I created a new mafia-like group: The Rose Brigade. But who would be the leader? I wanted a powerful---and also a plus sized woman in official art I'm making!---who is no-nonsense and irredeemable.
I wanted to originally make her a Bombay cat, but as I looked through more cat options, I decided to settle on a Chartreux cat! They're so pretty!!! Below is an image I wanted to reference, yet alter at the same time.
Tumblr media
Her voice claim is very much Lady Dimitrescu from Resident Evil. She has that badass, sultry tone to her that makes me fold over for this queen that can very much kill me.
She was originally going to be redeemed, but I decided "hell no she deserves a whole villain arc that DOESN'T give her a chance to turn good" and I am very much happy with that outcome.
I didn't know WHAT she would be job-wise? I originally wanted to make her an actor, though when I designed and wrote for Silas Tueuse (another Lacka-OC whom I love dearly), I wanted to mix things up, and wanted diversity. So Miss Jazz-Singing-Sensation was born! Her color palette and drawing her dress KILLED ME.
Choosing her name wise, I wanted to allude to Tracy's work, and allude to a villain. So when I was scrolling through the website, I noticed the Lacrimosa poem, and BOOM. Her name was chosen. Last name means 'immortal' in Greek, plus it's a play on the dish ambrosia. :)
FACTS/HEADCANONS:
She owns a jazz lounge, and is a famous jazz singer! The name is TBD, but she gets a LOT of traction there.
While she was from Boston, Massachusetts, she is Latin! She often refers to people as mei deliciae (translated to my darling), and one of her favorite foods is ceviche! It consists of either shrimp or fish, as well as lime, lemon, onion, chili pepper, and cilantro! From my understanding of it, you can dip chips into it and eat it like that. Sometimes you can even avocado in it, if that's your fancy! Below is a photo example.
Tumblr media
She is a horrible driver. Horrible. Picture Cruella De Vil but drunk. Sooo yeah, 100x worse.
She has a daughter, but she's distant from her, and she rarely---if never---checks in on her.
She is incredibly narcissistic, but does NOT have Narcissistic Personality Disorder: she does have empathy, though it's hard to tell if she's being genuine or not.
Prefers suits over dresses, but will wear dresses for performances to keep up her professional image. For casual meetings, she wears a dark indigo and dark blue suit with a fedora and a rose pin on her jacket lapel. The outfit accentuates her curves nicely, and I will draw her more in a suit in the future <3
She has a Colt M1911 Revolver that her husband gifted her before he passed. She uses it constantly.
ROLE/PURPOSE/OTHER STUFF!:
She's the main antagonist, and she is the leader of the Rose Brigade. She tries to hide behind a sweet, motherly facade, but she is emotionally and physically abusive to certain people. She is also a bit overconfident in certain abilities.
She had ties with Atlas May, though so far I have yet to confirm or deny if she killed him. So with her relation to Atlas, she slithered her way into trying to manipulate Mordecai, seemingly present as a mother figure towards him while in St. Louis. Ivy gushes over Lacrimosa's singing skills and performances, so her meeting her in person, she's just all giggly. Nonetheless, Lacrimosa is a softie for praise, and can't help but feel slightly more appreciated.
Lacrimosa might be manipulative and a full blown awful person, but she has been taught common courtesy. She knows to be respectful, she believes everyone is equal, and will not discriminate against those who are in the LGBTQ community. However, this does NOT excuse her awful behavior. She is MEANT to be an awful person.
She will ALSO absolutely break anyone who tries to tamper with her. She CAN and WILL call you out on your bullshit.
Her song (if it were 2023) would be Medusa by Kaia Jette!
HHHHHH THIS WAS SO MUCH???? AND THAT'S NOT EVEN IT????? FGHJKHGFDXFGHJ I might add on later

Two more examples of Trimalchio's vulgarity that we can explain through religious/superstitious recontextualization.
Trimalchio's boy-favorite (deliciae), Croesus, described as an elderly boy (puer vetulus) with inflamed eyes (lippus) and uglier than his master (domino...deformior). On first glance we interpret the appearance of Trimalchio's boy-favorite as just another instance of Trimalchio misunderstanding what a deliciae represents as most are chosen for their beauty. However, as one scholar points out, some Romans chose ugly or deformed enslaved people for their apotropaic power because their physical appearance could repel the evil eye. That Trimalchio chose this particular boy as his deliciae shows his worry which is consistent with his overall superstitious nature.
The second example is Trimalchio's insistence that everyone at the dinner should feel free to fart. Once again, what on first appearance seems a vulgarity, at which even our protagonist laughs, audible farting was considered to have an apotropaic effect similar to laughter because of its involuntary nature. This might explain why Trimalchio attempts to persuade everyone that their physical health is in jeopardy if they don't fart!
Trimalchio does everything in his power to ward off some perceived threat. This perhaps goes hand-in-hand with his constant focus on death. The two examples above can also be seen as emphasizing Trimalchio's humble nature, a continuation of a theme I have touched on before.

We created a beautiful digital fashion doll, wearing high end couture fashions designed by me. The beautiful black doll was made in @Jacqui.Akrofi’s likeness & brought to life in 3D form by @DigiDollsCentral, all displayed in a luxurious box. The inspiration was to create a stunning black digital doll that evokes the themes of love, power & passion, with a colour palette of reds and pinks, but with an edge! We wanted to create something that challenges Eurocentric beauty standards within the fashion industry and also bring something fresh to the #NFT space.
Upon purchasing, collectors can own three items from the Thorn Garden series of 3, including a static digital 3D doll & box, fashion illustrations physical.
This will be limited to ten pieces per digital design. Lastly, the three outfits worn by Jacqui will be auctioned as separate full length Hayden Williams fashion illustrations, sold as ‘one of one’ art.

a/n: i wrote this for Valentine's day! it's my first time writing Isaac and i tried a different writing style than the one i'm used to, (it's kind of like a mix between Isaac's pov & 3rd person's pov?) and i kinda like how this turned out!
tagging @rinringo23 as a fellow isaac stan! 🍎
Tumblr media
Valentine's day is known as the day where people would celebrate and express their affections for their loved ones, especially with their significant other, and knowing this, Isaac also wanted to celebrate it with his darling lover, although even if it's just any other day, he would still express his undying love and affections for her, undoubtedly
He knew he's not a man who's good with his words, so he'd rather show it with his actions instead, he had planned to take her on a date tonight to the field near the mansion where they would stargaze together, it has become quite a frequent date for them ever since they got together, just quietly enjoying each other's presence under the starry night sky, he simply loved each of that moment he shared with her
It was the middle of the day when Isaac spotted her cleaning one of the windows in the hallway and after pausing for a moment to muster up his courage —because yes, she still gave him butterflies and nervousness even after being together for quite some time now— he walked up to her, trying to contain the blush he could feel spreading slowly across his cheeks
"Us going stargazing together tonight? Oh, yes! I would love that Isaac, it has been quite some time since we last go stargazing!" Was her reply when he asked her if she wanted to go with him, the excitement were clear in her eyes and her saccharine smile as she gazed at him made his heart swell with love for her
Isaac was always so utterly enraptured with her, how she reacted so enthusiastically to even the most simple things he said or done, —even he himself felt that going stargazing as a date was not a very extraordinary one, considering it's Valentine's day and he knew most men in town would bring their lady to a fancy restaurant and have an extravagant night— but it was just how he was like and he knew they both loved it that way, and it made him feel so very loved and appreciated for who he is; it filled him with such an overwhelming affection for her which he could never describe with words, so instead, he just kisses her forehead tenderly before sauntering off with a face as red as the fruit he claimed he so despises
When the sun finally set and the sky turning into dark hues of blue, the two of them left the mansion to go to the field overlooking the 19th century paris, Isaac carrying one of his invention, the reflecting telescope, while she's carrying a basket filled with a blanket and enough foods for the both of them
Once everything was set and ready, they both plopped down on the thick blanket, a pleasant silence fell between them for a short moment before Isaac starts fiddling with his hair and steal a couple glances at her. No matter how many times she said she loved spending time with him like this, just gazing at the stars, he couldn't help but feel a little bit anxious that she would eventually grow bored of it, and he stole a couple more glances at her, trying to think of something to say but he couldn't find something good enough so he just kept his mouth shut, after a while she finally noticed his glances and turned to look at him questioningly
"Is something wrong, Isaac?" She was always gentle when she speaks to him and the underlying concern etched in her voice almost made him feel guilty, fiddling with a lock of his hair further under the weight of her earnest eyes, he looked away flusteredly, "I... I just thought that you might be getting bored..." His voice came out a little more squeaked than he would like but then he suddenly heard her soft giggles, looking up to look at her again only to find her staring right at him with the most tender expression he'd ever seen, his breath hitched, this time failing to look away
"I would never get bored of spending times with you, Isaac," She started, the look she gave him only softening further, "In fact, no amount of time would be enough for me to spend with you." Isaac felt his heart leapt at those words, he cleared his throat to appear somewhat calm in front of her when really, he could feel his cheeks heating up and his heart began to pound out of beat, "You're an odd one..." He mumbled rather curtly, but they both know it's what he does when he's flustered, so she just smiles at that, looking back up at the starry sky
But once again, Isaac found himself stealing glances at her form illuminated by the stars, this time for a completely different reason than the last time, it was rather because she looked so dazzlingly beautiful —even more so than she already was— he could see the stars reflected in her eyes, making it seem to sparkle, and oh how he thought he would much prefer watching them through her eyes, so much so that the stars overhead were all but forgotten
"Isaac, you said we came here to watch the stars, am I right?" Suddenly, she lowers her eyes again so that she was looking into his cherry blossom ones, and he frowned a little, "Yes, isn't that what we were doing now?" He asked her back, tilting his head to one side, but her answer wasn't what he expected at all, "How is it stargazing if you keep staring at me?" There was a teasing lilt to her voice and he felt his heart skip a beat at the mischievous tone. He was never fond of getting teased by the other residents in the mansion but it was different when she was the one who did it, he didn't mind it one bit
Seeing her playful grin as she gazed at him, Isaac couldn't help but wanting to steal it off her face, so he closed the distance between them and pressed a quick kiss in the corner of her lips. When he pulled away, the smile was gone from her face, replaced by a flush slowly creeping up on her cheeks and Isaac grins to himself, he wasn't intending on it, but after seeing her flustered reaction, he found he couldn't resist teasing her further to get her back, there was just something about her reaction that made him feel a little more daring and mischievous than usual. With a small smile adorned on his lips, he looked directly into her eyes
"But I am indeed stargazing, meae deliciae," He reached up towards her, fingers tenderly brushing some strands of hair back behind her ear, "They are here in your eyes."
Tumblr media
P.s. meae deliciae is a latin word for ‘my darling’ because i headcanon that isaac would sometimes call his mc latin terms of endearment. He wrote a whole book in latin, he had to have called her at least a number of latin terms of endearment and you can't convince me otherwise aha

“...Livia cannot have reached Rome before late summer 39. She and her husband, Tiberius Nero, would probably have returned to their residence on the Palatine if it was still available to them. It may not have been. The Treaty of Misenum stipulated that those who had left Italy in fear for their safety would get their property back; those who, like Tiberius Nero, had been proscribed would recover only a quarter. Livia might thus have found herself in considerably reduced circumstances. Where and when she and Octavian met we have no idea, and we cannot exclude the possible irony that she might have been introduced to him through her aunt by adoption, his then-wife, Scribonia. Dio is the only source to report on how the affair began.
Octavian in 39 bc organised a lavish entertainment to celebrate the shaving of his beard (the event may have been his birthday, on September 23). Dio tells us that Octavian kept his chin smooth afterwards (although coins continue to show him bearded as late as 36). He clearly wanted to look his best because he ‘‘was already (hede) beginning to love Livia.’’ For Livia, Octavian certainly represented a good catch. There are hints that in the eyes of contemporaries she quickly recognised his interest in her and turned it to her advantage. There is evidence that Octavian was already turning to Livia for help and advice well before they were married.
Scribonia complained about her husband’s mistress—almost certainly Livia—upset not by his infatuation, a situation that Roman wives generally learned to handle, but rather by her rival’s nimiam potentiam (excessive power). Potentia is a term generally used of political rather than erotic power. Tacitus seems also to suggest that Livia may well have been active in encouraging Octavian’s attentions, when he says that Octavian took her away from her husband incertum an invitam (it is not certain that she was reluctant). But what did she have to offer him? We can certainly not dismiss the element of pure sexual attraction. Both Tacitus and Velleius speak of Livia’s beauty, forma, although such descriptions of aristocratic Roman women tend to be formulaic, and beauty in a bride may have been as much a commonplace in ancient Rome as it is today.
Tacitus asserted that Octavian was driven essentially by lust, cupidine formae, and a tradition that saw his interest as pure infatuation (amore) persisted down to the fourth century. But Livia had much more than sexual charms to offer. Certainly in his previous matches Octavian had always looked upon marriage as a means of furthering his career. He was betrothed first to Servilia, the daughter of Publius Servilius Isauricus, related by marriage to Brutus, Cassius, and Lepidus, in an engagement that was the product of a political alignment engineered by Cicero early in 43 bc. This first arrangement fell victim to the shifting political tides. When he became reconciled with Antony, to strengthen the new alliance he became engaged to Antony’s stepdaughter Claudia, the child of Fulvia (see chapter 7) and her previous husband, Publius Clodius. The marriage was postponed because of his fiancée’s youth, and the clash with Fulvia ended the arrangement.
The marriage to Scribonia followed in 40 bc. Octavian’s ties to Scribonia would similarly have been weakened when the old problems between himself and Sextus Pompeius reasserted themselves. Velleius, in fact, explicitly places the divorce from Scribonia and the fresh outbreak of hostilities with Sextus in close sequence. In fact, Livia would have seemed an ideal partner. Quite apart from any feelings of affection, she brought significant political benefits to the marriage. Octavian had considerable power. His desperate need now was for status. Although Antony’s taunt of ignobilitas might have been overstated (Octavian’s father had reached the praetorship, which would have given him a technical entrée into the nobilitas), Octavian was seen by the old nobility as something of a revolutionary parvenu, and this formidable obstacle had not yet been overcome even more than a quarter-century later, when, in 12 bc, some of the nobility declined to attend the funeral of his old friend and son-in-law Marcus Agrippa.
Ancestry was a powerful element in making a marriage advantageous. As Tacitus observed in Livia’s obituary notice, she could boast a lofty lineage (nobilitatis . . . clarissimae), and Velleius describes her father as nobilissimus. Thus she would have helped Octavian to strengthen his ties with the old distinguished families. In fact, the union would have a double advantage. It would link Octavian with the powerful and prestigious Claudii. But beyond this the connection with Livius Drusus would resonate throughout Italy and help to strengthen Octavian’s power base. It is worth noting that the names Drusus and Drusilla, both from the Livian side of the lineage, continued to be used by later generations of the family. If Livia has been correctly identified as the mistress who was the target of Scribonia’s complaints, Octavian and Livia began an affair while he was still married to Scribonia. He waited for the birth of his daughter Julia, then immediately arranged a divorce.
Livia for her part secured a divorce from Tiberius Nero in turn, and it is likely that in late September or early October, 39 bc, Octavian and Livia became betrothed. They do not seem to have proceeded immediately to the marriage, probably because by early October, Livia was six months pregnant. Tacitus and Dio say that Octavian sought the guidance of the pontiffs on the problem that the pregnancy raised for her remarriage. Both historians present this consultation in sarcastic terms, perhaps reflecting Antony’s propaganda. Tacitus says that the question was put, per ludibrium (in a farce), whether Livia, with a child conceived but not yet born, could legally wed. Dio provides the same question, and also records their answer: that if there was any doubt about the conception the marriage should be postponed, but if conception was confirmed, then the marriage could take place. Dio is sceptical about their finding this decision in the rules, but says that it was a moot point because they would have given the answer Octavian needed anyhow.
…But there was another bizarre twist to the event. In two places Tacitus retains a tradition that Livia was forcibly removed from Tiberius Nero, that she was abducta Neroni uxor (a wife abducted from Nero) and that Octavian aufert marito (carries off [Livia] from her husband). The cruel characterization of Octavian’s conduct may, again, have originated in Mark Antony’s propaganda. Tacitus and Suetonius refer to letters of Antony’s which apparently survived the triumvir’s disgrace and death. They are brimming with bitter invective against Octavian. The seeds of the story of Livia’s abduction may have been sown by a claim made by Antony that Octavian carried off (abductam) the wife of an ex-consul (unnamed) from her husband’s dining room before his very eyes and took her into the bedchamber, from where she returned with her hair in disorder and her ears glowing (rubentibus auriculis). Was she Livia? Suetonius seems to relate the hasty marriage and the case of the unidentified consular wife as two separate events. Also, Livia’s husband was not of consular rank.
…In fact, Tiberius Nero had always been prepared to bend in the political wind, even if he failed to benefit much from his compliance. Pliny describes him as Octavian’s enemy (hostis), and although this would not, strictly speaking, have been true after the amnesty, there would still have been an inevitable tension between the two men, whose mutual animosity went back to the time of Perusia. The marriage would have offered Tiberius Nero an ideal opportunity to bury his differences with the rising star of the state. Cicero described him as the kind of man who was excessively eager to show gratitude in return for a favour, and most of the ancient sources speak of him as the perfect model of the mari complaisant. This motive may well have been sweetened by another consideration. Octavian’s divorce from Scribonia and marriage to Livia would cause a rift with Sextus Pompeius; this would be to the advantage of Antony, to whom Tiberius Nero might have had a residual loyalty.
And we must also remember that he had received a personal snub from Sextus. Suetonius says that Tiberius Nero petenti Augusto concessit (gave her up to Augustus at his request). In fact, both Dio and Velleius allude to what seems to have been an active, even eager, role for Tiberius Nero in the union, Velleius repeating the same information in two different sections, that he was the one who pledged Livia. Dio says that he officiated at the ceremony, giving away his wife as a father would give up his daughter. It is possible that Antony’s propaganda might have exaggerated his willingness to comply. But there were historical parallels for such behaviour. When the great orator Hortensius persuaded Cato Uticensis, a man known for his upright attachment to principle, to divorce his wife Marcia so that he could marry her, Phillipus, her father, refused to betroth her to her new partner unless Cato joined with him in the formal ceremony. They betrothed her jointly.
Much later, Caligula compelled Memmius Regulus to betroth his ex-wife Lollia Paulina to him. Tiberius Nero’s eagerness to please did cause one embarrassing moment, when he chose to attend the feast following the betrothal. Present at the event was one of the pretty slave boys, the delicia, who were trained in clever and naughty comments and appeared naked as a regular feature at social events of the fashionable. These slaves were selected for their talkativeness, and were particularly appealing if they were impudent and adept at risqué language. Seneca notes that they were trained by special tutors in the art of abuse and observes wryly that because their vulgarity was a matter of professional expertise, what they said was considered not offensive but smart (nec has contumelias vocamus, sed argutias). The slave attending the betrothal feast seems to have lived up to expectations. When he saw Livia reclining next to Octavian, he told her that she was in the wrong place since her husband—as he pointed to Tiberius Nero—was in another part of the room. This would not have been a simple social gaffe, but a deliberately outrageous joke.
The story may, of course, be apocryphal, but it does at the very least suggest that relations between Tiberius Nero and Octavian were cordial enough for the discarded husband to have attended the celebratory feast. Some scholars associate this banquet with a notorious event from Octavian’s past, the cena dodekatheos (Feast of the Twelve Gods), recorded only by Suetonius. At this infamous festivity Octavian and his guests appeared in the guise of gods and goddesses (he took the part of Apollo). Suetonius reports that Antony attacked the escapade in his letters, naming the guests (the list is not provided), and there was also an anonymous and ribald lampoon which suggests that Octavian produced a burlesque about ‘‘novel debaucheries of the gods’’ (nova divorum . . . adulteria) ending with Jupiter falling from his throne. According to Suetonius, the scandal became the subject of common gossip, which was all the more avid because there was a severe famine in the city, leading to the jocular comment that the gods had eaten all the grain.
In 40 bc Sextus Pompeius had cut off the corn supply and there were popular disturbances; Octavian was even stoned. The Treaty of Misenum would have removed the root cause of these supply difficulties, but it would have taken a while for the problem to be totally alleviated, and there are reports of famine in the years 39, 38, and 36, any one of which might in fact have been the year of the banquet. Whatever the date, Livia would almost certainly have been one of the guests at this celebration. Following the betrothal it seems that Livia joined Octavian at his home on the Palatine. It is probably safe to assume that at this stage they were not yet married. There is, however, some confusion in the sources about the relationship of their wedding to the birth of Livia’s second son, Drusus. The information in Suetonius and Dio that Drusus came into the world after the marriage may have resulted from a confusion between the betrothal and the wedding. Antony seems to have been the source of this confusion, for he maliciously charged that the ‘‘wedding’’ was hasty (festinatas Liviae nuptias), probably in allusion to a hasty betrothal in early October following their initial meeting in September.
Early in 38 Drusus was born in Octavian’s Palatine home (intra Caesaris penates). The actual day can be deduced as January 14. The marriage took place very soon afterwards, in a year that began with a number of compelling omens. The hut of Romulus was burnt down on the Palatine during a religious ritual. The statue of Virtus fell on its face. A rumour spread that the Magna Mater was angry with the Romans, causing panic. Purification rites were carried out, and people were reassured when four palm trees sprang up near her temple on the Palatine and in the Forum. Dio reports that in the midst of these dramatic occurrences Octavian and Livia married. The Fasti Verulani record the date as January 17 (38 bc). It seems that Octavian had simply waited a brief while for Livia to recover from delivering Drusus, then proceeded straight to the wedding. Inevitably, these events led to considerable gossip about the true paternity of Drusus, and humorists coined a line in Greek, preserved in Suetonius and paraphrased by Dio, about some being lucky in having trimena paidia (children in three months).
This became a proverbial saying, and seems to have been parodied by Caligula, who married his last wife, Caesonia, when she was close to the end of her term so that he could beget a paidion triakonthemeron (a thirty day child). There was also a rumour that Octavian was Drusus’ real father, a belief no doubt encouraged by his deep sorrow on the young man’s death in 9 bc. This last particular ghost can surely be laid to rest. Livia must have conceived in late March or early April 39, before the Treaty of Misenum and the amnesty that brought her and her first husband back to Rome and into the company of Octavian. It may have been to discourage such gossip that after the birth Octavian sent the infant Drusus to his father and made an entry in the record (hypomnemata) of the fact that it was Tiberius Nero who was the father. But it should be noted that it was normal for a man marrying a pregnant woman to send the child to the natural father.
In the event Tiberius Nero does not seem to have made much, if any, political capital out of his compliance. When he died, some six years after the wedding, in 32 bc or the end of 33, he named Octavian in his will as guardian (tutor) to both his sons. In accordance with Roman tradition, his first son, Tiberius, now nine years old, delivered the funeral elegy. Tiberius Nero, Livia’s first husband, thus quitted the scene, a tired failure, the brilliant hopes of his youth unrealised. The scandal provoked by the unusual marriage continued to haunt Octavian. A decade later (29–28 bc), while he was exercising the power of censor, someone brought before him a young man who had committed adultery with a married woman but then had afterwards married the woman in question. Octavian was in a major quandary, but he dealt with it prudently. He suggested that they forget the quarrels of the past and look to the future.”

Hello tor-mon!
I just saw your response and honestly you flatter me too much, you re-read it ten times? This is the highest form of praise!
Secondly, I was wondering what things you personally like to see in the horror/yandere genre? I have been trying to come up with ideas for my next fic and am a little stumped. So, I figured who better to ask than my favorite reviewer in the whole world?
What is a fic you always wanted to read in this genre? AUs you don't see too often? Something you just really want to see! I'd love to hear your thoughts 💜💜💜
Merry meet, deliciae! Of course! Your writing is the perfect material to reread! I reread your fics all the time, and your writing never loses its effect! True beauty!
First, I’m honored 🥺 And second, I’ve got you, deliciae! A lot of these ideas are supernatural/paranormal/magical because that’s my usual realm and I am wholly unoriginal and empty-headed when it comes to the Normal world 😅
Yandere AUs
Among Us au: I believe this is a potent au filled with lots of possibilities, especially with the addition of the Town of Us roles (Imposter Lovers immediately screamed yandere at me). The two possibilities that stuck out to me was 1) the classic yandere is the imposter and mc is a crewmate (and mayhap the crew think the mc is sus 🤭), and 2) the mc is the imposter with a yandere crewmate (i.e. the yandere!crewmate simps for the mc).
Battle Royale au: I remember you mentioning a long while back about starting your blog in part because of chinkbihh’s Quarter Quell but wasn’t sure what else to bring to the table? I have a singular idea and some alternate settings that employ a similar taste of the Hunger Games (because I, too, love chinkbihh’s yandere Hunger Games idea):
Hunger Games: game designer and hunger games survivor. The yandere is on the game’s designing team and the mc is a survivor in the games. The yandere does all they can to ensure the mc’s safety and victory in the games, and well, the mc may escape the games unscathed but they can’t escape the yandere’s clutches.
S.O.S.: This is a game on Steam. You’re on La Cuna island, where you have to fight monsters, avoid becoming infected by the monsters, yoink a crystal on the island before other players do, call in the helicopter, and secure your spot home. There are thirty-two players, only three seats home, and you definitely didn’t sign up for this fight to the death 😅
Dead by Daylight: This is a game on Steam. There’s one killer and four survivors (but who says it has to be those numbers?). The survivors have to fix the generators to open the gates and escape, and the killer is having fun chasing the survivors, messing with them using their special abilities, taking them down, throwing them on hooks, and sacrificing them to the Entity. It’s ten times more terrifying to play with friends, and while I love the teaming up, I love a shameless, no-regrets betrayal between good friends more 🙂 (sacrifice, sacrifice, sacrifice)
Witch au: I believe there are a few aspects of the witch-y world that could be brewed with yandere, namely:
love potions
curses, hexes: anyone who tries to get between the mc and the yandere is cursed
a case of an accidental summoning of a djinn, demon, or some other being who becomes rather fond (and possessive) of the witch (or vice versa!)
empathy (specifically feeling others’ emotions): this could create some good internal conflict. If the mc is an empath, then what if they feel the yandere’s ‘love’; would the mc also become a yandere?
fortune telling/scrying/clairvoyance or claircognizance/psychometry: you’ve actually hinted at this concept in Solar Eclipse and it’s such an intriguing concept, so here’s another version
dream walking/lucid dreaming/astral projecting: I read a book where the mc dreams of a town and her duty is to protect the town from the djinn. She loses her brother and so when the djinn approaches her in her dreams she makes a deal with a djinn to get him back (sort of like Persephone :D), but she didn’t think it was a real deal until she woke up. The interesting part was that she was chained to the djinn, and the djinn could use those chains to summon her to him, even across dimensions.
Tuatha Dé Danann/Sidhe/Fae au: besides the Unseelie being cool candidates for yanderes (glamour, master manipulators, and typically violent? perfect grounds to make a yandere), there are aspects of Fae folklore that I love and think would be pretty cool in yandere:
names: names hold power and if you tell a Faerie your name (specifically your full, true name), they hold power over you. the Fae are tricky, so it can be easy to literally hand your name over to them.
faerie rings: if you step in a faerie ring, you’re trapped until the Faerie who created the ring comes to collect their trappings. But faerie rings are also rumored to be portals into the Fae realm
selkie: in folklore, men would convince a selkie to marry them and hide their seal skin as a means to trap the selkie with them. if the selkie ever finds her seal skin, she’ll dip on the man and return to the ocean.
Slaugh Sidhe, or the Wild Host/Wild Hunt: the Slaugh Sidhe are hosts of restless, unforgiven dead, sometimes rumored to be Fallen Angels. I believe the Headless Horseman is in the Hunt as well. They roam the Earth on Samhain and hunt during the night; they prey on humans and will steal their souls. You can also inadvertently call the Slaugh to you by saying their name during nightfall or feeling hopeless (they prey on sadness, broken hearts, and the depressed).
each-uisce, or each-uisge: a shapeshifting water-horse; it typically takes the form of a man on land and a horse in water. Though if in the form of a horse on land, a human mounts them, and they smell water, the uisce will drag the human down into the water and eat them
zombie apocalypse au: I haven’t seen too many yanderes in the zombie apocalypse, but it sounds pretty cool (way I see it, the yandere is prepared to keep mc alive and the mc gets to kick some zombie booty! win-win!)
Yandere Situations
Storyteller: this is the perfect place to crack out fairytales! the Storyteller forces the character to live out retellings of fairytales (best if used with people the character knows).
Shapeshifter: the yandere!shapeshifter shifts into a new person every time their relationship with the mc goes wrong. Doesn’t matter how many times it takes, the shapeshifter can become as many people as they have to be to end up with the mc :)
Resurrection: the mc kills the yandere plenty of times, but the yandere resurrects themselves every time. In the time it takes for the yandere to resurrect themselves, the mc runs/escapes, trying to get as far as they can away from the yandere. The yandere is rather amused with the game of cat and mouse; how far will the mc get this time?
Necromancy: the yandere is a necromancer and perhaps didn’t get to save the mc in time (or killed the mc themselves) and so they reanimated the mc. Maybe the mc loses a little bit of their soul with every revival, maybe they don’t, but one thing’s for sure: death isn’t an escape :)
Phasmophobia: this is another game on Steam. you are on a team a paranormal investigators, and you’re trying to document what type of ghost is haunting a location. This time may be your biggest break yet, but your latest ghost is a huge puzzle and also rather keen on keeping you...
Yandere Pairings/Characters
human and angel (bonus if there are clipped wings ☺)
witch and familiar
serial killer and grim reaper
forgotten deity and lone follower
thief and detective
time traveler and immortal
~*~
I hope this helps spark something even if you don’t use any of them, and lmk if I should clarify something or if you need more assistance! I’m happy to help ☺
Blessed be, deliciae! and may writer’s block not plague you!
your lil monster delight, tor-mon 🖤

a bit of a read about homosexuality in Ancient Rome from Wikipedia because look, i’m a weak ass bitch for historical stuff like this and i love to incorporate it into my writing. these are kind of ‘cherry picked’ from the full page because i merely paste here what is relevant to robin. at the end you can find my own notes about this post.
here is part 2.
trigger warnings for (the mention of) pedophilia and rape.
Homosexuality in ancient Rome
Homosexuality in ancient Rome often differs markedly from the contemporary West. Latin lacks words that would precisely translate "homosexual" and "heterosexual". The primary dichotomy of ancient Roman sexuality was active / dominant / masculine and passive / submissive / feminine. Roman society was patriarchal, and the freeborn male citizen possessed political liberty (libertas) and the right to rule both himself and his household (familia). "Virtue" (virtus) was seen as an active quality through which a man (vir) defined himself. The conquest mentality and "cult of virility" shaped same-sex relations. Roman men were free to enjoy sex with other males without a perceived loss of masculinity or social status, as long as they took the dominant or penetrative role. Acceptable male partners were slaves and former slaves, prostitutes, and entertainers, whose lifestyle placed them in the nebulous social realm of infamia, excluded from the normal protections accorded a citizen even if they were technically free. Although Roman men in general seem to have preferred youths between the ages of 12 and 20 as sexual partners, freeborn male minors were off limits at certain periods in Rome, though professional prostitutes and entertainers might remain sexually available well into adulthood.
Male-male sex
Roles
A man or boy who took the "receptive" role in sex was variously called cinaedus, pathicus, exoletus, concubinus (male concubine), spintria ("analist"), puer ("boy"), pullus ("chick"), pusio, delicatus (especially in the phrase puer delicatus, "exquisite" or "dainty boy"), mollis ("soft", used more generally as an aesthetic quality counter to aggressive masculinity), tener ("delicate"), debilis ("weak" or "disabled"), effeminatus, discinctus ("loose-belted"), pisciculi, spinthriae, and morbosus ("sick"). As Amy Richlin has noted, "'gay' is not exact, 'penetrated' is not self-defined, 'passive' misleadingly connotes inaction" in translating this group of words into English.
Concubinus
Some Roman men kept a male concubine (concubinus, "one who lies with; a bed-mate") before they married a woman. Eva Cantarella has described this form of concubinage as "a stable sexual relationship, not exclusive but privileged". Within the hierarchy of household slaves, the concubinus seems to have been regarded as holding a special or elevated status that was threatened by the introduction of a wife. The relationship with a concubinus might be discreet or more open: male concubines sometimes attended dinner parties with the man whose companion they were. Martial even suggests that a prized concubinus might pass from father to son as an especially coveted inheritance. A military officer on campaign might be accompanied by a concubinus. Like the catamite or puer delicatus, the role of the concubine was regularly compared to that of Ganymede, the Trojan prince abducted by Jove (Greek Zeus) to serve as his cupbearer.
Pathicus
Pathicus was a "blunt" word for a male who was penetrated sexually. It derived from the unattested Greek adjective pathikos, from the verb paskhein, equivalent to the Latin deponent patior, pati, passus, "undergo, submit to, endure, suffer". The English word "passive" derives from the Latin passus. His sexuality was not defined by the gender of the person using him as a receptacle for sex, but rather his desire to be so used. Because in Roman culture a man who penetrates another adult male almost always expresses contempt or revenge, the pathicus might be seen as more akin to the sexual masochist in his experience of pleasure. He might be penetrated orally or anally by a man or by a woman with a dildo, but showed no desire for penetrating nor having his own penis stimulated. He might also be dominated by a woman who compels him to perform cunnilingus.
Puer delicatus
(pedophilia mention)
The puer delicatus was an "exquisite" or "dainty" child-slave chosen by his master for his beauty as a "boy toy", also referred to as deliciae ("sweets" or "delights"). Unlike the freeborn Greek eromenos ("beloved"), who was protected by social custom, the Roman delicatus was in a physically and morally vulnerable position. Some of the "coercive and exploitative" relationship between the Roman master and the delicatus, who might be prepubescent, can be characterized as pedophilic, in contrast to Greek paiderasteia. ( The boy was sometimes castrated in an effort to preserve his youthful qualities.)
Pullus
Pullus was a term for a young animal, and particularly a chick. It was an affectionate word traditionally used for a boy (puer) who was loved by someone "in an obscene sense".
Pusio
Pusio is etymologically related to puer, and means "boy, lad". It often had a distinctly sexual or sexually demeaning connotation. Juvenal indicates the pusio was more desirable than women because he was less quarrelsome and would not demand gifts from his lover.
Male-male rape
(rape mention)
Roman law addressed the rape of a male citizen as early as the 2nd century BC, when it was ruled that even a man who was "disreputable and questionable" (famosus, related to infamis, and suspiciosus) had the same right as other free men not to have his body subjected to forced sex. The rapist was subject to execution, a rare penalty in Roman law. Men who had been raped were exempt from the loss of legal or social standing suffered by those who submitted their bodies to use for the pleasure of others; a male prostitute or entertainer was infamis and excluded from the legal protections extended to citizens in good standing. As a matter of law, a slave could not be raped; he was considered property and not legally a person. The slave's owner, however, could prosecute the rapist for property damage.
Same-sex relations in the military
(rape mention)
The Roman soldier, like any free and respectable Roman male of status, was expected to show self-discipline in matters of sex. Augustus (reigned 27 BC – 14 AD) even prohibited soldiers from marrying, a ban that remained in force for the Imperial army for nearly two centuries. Other forms of sexual gratification available to soldiers were prostitutes of any gender, male slaves, war rape, and same-sex relations. Sex among fellow soldiers, however, violated the Roman decorum against intercourse with another freeborn male. A soldier maintained his masculinity by not allowing his body to be used for sexual purposes.
————————————————————————————————————————
(pedophilia mention)
In my personal view, Robin within the classic verse has been put to use for sexual favours for both his male and female masters. And this has been since he was probably around 13 years of age up until the age I currently play him as (which is ALWAYS 21/22 years old). He generally does not speak of it because it isn’t appropriate to, but this means that while in his default verse he always starts out as a virgin, this is not the case for this verse. I will not paint him as an expert on what he does for this verse, because he is not and most of his experiences have been very passive and with that I mostly mean literally sack-of-potatoes-passive. This is because the use of his body for these ends was for the pleasure of his masters and not for his own.
Since Robin is a slave and thus has no significant social standing, the fact that he takes the passive role is frowned upon but not scandalous. His female master might have tried for him to be a penetrator but it never happened, and no doubt it was an ongoing joke/mockery in his original household.
All the different roles mentioned above (concubinus, pathicus, puer delicatus, pullus and pusio) are either all basically applicable to his role in his households, or only one or a few are.
It must be said that Robin was always regarded as a beautiful boy and that very much played a part in his relationship with sex. He has gained certain privileges with this, but also a place in his household and a reputation, and it has left very little room for doubt on whether he is a dominant or submissive part of a sexual relationship. Which, again, isn’t seen as very desirable for a man. Even if Robin came out of servitude, this would always be an issue.
All that said, I do play him as very much in favour with his masters. He is good at the things he does (writing, reading, cleaning, playing some musical instruments & entertaining) and in a general sense, he will probably serve one household from birth until death unless he switches hands legally, or if he is set free by a master, which is not common.
Sex between Robin and other slaves (which could be house slaves or for example gladiators or entertainers) is not common and not usually encouraged, but it is a service he provides if his master so wishes. And he has probably been loaned away to help the war-effort, if you catch my drift.
I also keep the option of castration open, but I will elaborate on that in a different post.

I just finished playing Ace Attorney Investigations 2. And HOLY SHIT.
This game has been absolutely incredible and I feel the overwhelming urge to rant about how incredible it is. So SPOILER WARNING because I will be spoiling the crap out of this game.
Where to begin? I loved the intricate cases, and how they all built upon each other, forming one large mystery that we much uncover. Each case, while all being so different and distinct, each possessed their own charm.
The first case, even though it was a tutorial, reintroduced our favorite prosecutor/detective/Great Thief trio in an interesting introduction that was challenging while also simplistic enough to gain our bearing, in addition to laying the foundation for the rest of the cases and introducing many key figures.
The second case, instead of being the first of the filler cases usually introduced in an AA game, surprised me by having the culprit in the first case turn out to be the new victim. This case also introduced some AWESOME characters, such as Justine, Sebastion (my beautiful boy), and Dogen, who is SUCH A BADASS! Honestly, I love everything about this man and I will be sure to rant about him later on. And come on, who doesn’t like a good prison escape? The scene of the crime was probably one of my favorites in the game, and the inclusion of the animals added charm to the environment and many of the otherwise dull prisoners. The case itself was also lots of fun. It was so satisfying to refute all of DeBeste’s smug and completely illogical theories and to bring Roland to justice.
The third case, while being my least favorite of the five, was also lots of fun and had so many good moments. I LOVED playing as Gregory Edgeworth! He was so similar to Miles, and yet possessed a gentler and quieter nature that contrasted nicely to Edgeworth’s sharper personality. In every remark he made, he showed how good of a person he was, addressing everyone politely and patiently guiding Ray. AND HIS THOUGHTS ABOUT HIS SON! You can tell how much he cares about Miles though him constantly thinking about him and worrying about him. He thinks about introducing the show the suspect stars in to his son, debates gathering treats for his son’s Christmas present, and overall demonstrates how much he loved him. HE DESERVED BETTER, GODDAMMIT VON KARMA! The case was also fun to play, and battling against the Stature of Limmitations (which has come up in many past AA cases) was a nice challenge. Overall, really enjoyed this case, although many of the new characters introduced in this case lacked the charm other characters showed, at least in my opinion.
Sadly, the case of Kay’s amnesia was spoiled to me when I accidentally read about it in a gorgeous fancomic on tumblr (which was entirely my fault, I just wanted more Edgeworth content and ignored the risks. I thought I learned my lesson with Merlin, but I guess I’ll never change XD). However, I was still shocked and immensely saddened when I saw the state she was in. And when Miles gave away his badge (how he did it with no hesitation! I believe, in his words, he said it was nothing compared to the life of a dear friend”) GOD MY HEART! I didn’t think I could love him any more than I already did, but I was so so wrong. And Gumshoe wanting to stick with Edgeworth even when he wasn’t a prosecutor anymore! The mystery surrounding the smuggling ring was super interesting and a lot of fun to learn about, and the connections that were beginning to form between this case and all the previous cases definitely created some jaw-dropping moments. And of course, bringing Blaise DeBeste to justice was oh so sweet (although it hurt so much to see Sebastian in so much pain). This case was such a tear-jerker in the many emotions it created, both happy and sad, and I wish I could forget all about it so I could play it again.
Finally, the last case. BOY was this case a ride. The longest of all the cases, I thought it ended twice before it did, every time going “wait, there’s MORE!?” as another cutscene played. And I loved every second of it. First of all, another lovable character is introduced in John. John also gives us another reason to love Justine, who is actually John’s doting adoptive mother. Aside from that, the case itself was deliciously complex and intricate, introducing twist after twist to create an exciting story, while also tying up loose ends created by all the previous cases. I couldn’t even begin to imagine what those monster footprints could have been! And the reveal with Knightly and Simon being the two lost sons!? This realization left me speechless. However, my favorite part of this case was Sebastian’s triumph over his father. Seeing tied up and in tears following his kidnappjng, questioning everything he’s ever believed in, was heartbreaking. However, his helplessness made his redemption so much sweeter. I am honestly so proud of him.
And now, the characters! God, does Capcom know how to make characters! I loved the return of old, familiar faces like Penny Nikohl (I definitely butchered that last name), Regina Berry, and the mysterious and oh so badass Shelly de Killer (although I could have done without a few... looking at you Lotta!). And the new characters were also very cool! I could go on and on about Sirhan Dogen and Anubis. Even while behind bars and making absolutely no threats whatsoever, he still holds a intimidating presence with his piercing white eyes, the hulking figure of a huge black dog over his shoulder, and the soft, menacing music playing in the background, accompanied by the quiet ringing of bells. I just... I can’t get enough of this man. And his controntatuon with de Killer was awesome!!! I honestly just can’t get enough of him. Raymond was also a really fun character. I liked how he interacted with Edgeworth and Kay, as well as his sense of humor. However, despite his goofy personality, there were many touching moments involving him, such as the two photos he took (one with him and Gregory, the other with him and Miles). Such a beautifully complex character. Other characters like John and Simon were also very cool and interesting (I especially liked the twist with the latter. Seriously, I did NOT see that coming!) However, there were also a few characters I simply disliked. Many of the characters in the third case were either a bit too extra, such as Master, Hall, and Delicia, or had much less personality compared to the other characters, such as Gustavia. This made them not as fun to interact with as others. Another character I didn’t particularly like was Patricia Roland. Even before we descovered her to be the villain (which I TOTALLY CALLED), her manurisms and personality made me very uncomfortable, and I kinda dreaded interacting with her. Of course, these opinions of these characters are entirely my own, and if you like any of these characters, I think that’s awesome and respect your opinion.
In terms of gameplay, I think I liked the first Investigations slightly better. Some parts were drawn on a lot longer than I think they had to, and while the majority of the twists landed and were extremely effective, some were way too obvious or didn’t land at all, although that could be attributed to my own stupidity. However, I still enjoyed uncovering the truth just as much as any other AA game, and the new Logic Chess minigame was tons of fun (although it took me an embarrassingly long time to figure out that I was supposed to watch their facial expressions and decide based on them whether to wait or press). I kinda wish there was actually more of this minigame, but it didn’t detract in the least from the rest of the game.
Overall, amazing story, super fun gameplay, and both new and old lovable characters join together in the masterpiece that is Investigations 2. I’m sure I’m forgetting tons of things I want to discuss regarding this game, and I may add on to it later, but I just wanted to get my thoughts down while I’m still riding the high from completing it. Thanks for listening to my rambles, and if you wanna discuss this game, leave a comment or PM me! I’d love to talk about it!

CULTURE, TRADITION AND LANGUAGE:A JOURNEY TO CALBIGA CITY
"Language is a living organism. One does not only bring his or her vernacular language but it includes the introduction of his or her culture, beliefs, values, and tradition." This is actually qouted by one of our mentors in high school as she ponders great interest and importance of the concept of language.
Our group has chosen the wonderful place of Calbiga City, particularly located at Samar. Being one in a millions of tourist spots that we are showcasing to foreign country not only for the purpose of economics development and national improvement, that we are proud to let the world know how bountiful the Philippines is in terms of natural resources. One perfect epitome is the Lulugayan Falls from Calbiga City. And other well-known places from the said region.
CATBALOGAN CITY, Samar  –  Nature, culture and adventure in its numerous land and water forms as in caves, falls and flora and fauna seem to await Calbiga town when it emerges as an Eco tourism destination in Samar.
In the Ecotourism planning workshop started Monday, stakeholders drafted the best tourist packages for groups for adventure.
The Local Government Unit led by Mayor Melchor Nacario with other government entities, the academe, peoples’ organization, NGOs, transportation groups and the business sector put their acts together to map out strategies to develop eco tourism in this beautiful town and create employment.
The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) along with German Technical Cooperation (GTZ) with Calbiga LGU sponsored the three-day workshop aimed at tourism development
Mr. Aniceto Cabuenas, who presented a tourism situationer said that some 90 foreign and local tourists were registered in 2007 and some 60 in 2008.
This, he said does not include those who did not pass by the Municipal Tourism office on weekends and the locals who are have become ‘balikbayans’.
As the group tried to inventory the nature sites, some cultural and even entrepreneurial potentials have also been accounted for.
Calbiga for one boasts of Lulugayan Falls, which is fifty meters wide and is considered as mini Niagara. The Langun-Gobingob Caves is heaven to spelunkers considered as the largest cave system in the Philippines and reputed to be the second largest in Asia. It is 7 kilometers long with an area of 900 square kilometers. It has 12 chambers with wide underground spaces.
Calbiga also claims to be home to the so called hypogean blind fish (caecogobius cryptophalmus) and white crabs dwelling in the waters of Langun-Gobingob caves.
It has also the 20 kilometer Calbiga River teeming with big fresh water shrimps and fish, while yonder hills is home to tarsiers, monkeys and pythons of different sizes. Calbiga also possesses strong cultural traditions perpetualized by equally gifted and talented locals.
Then, there is the Pahoy-pahoy festival on May 14, the vesper spectacle of the fiesta in Calbiga where dancers dressed as scarecrows dance in the streets and the poblacion streets adorned with giant scarecrows.
As for souvenir items, the local market is replete with traditional Samar delicacies where even their names come from their Spanish forebears like Piñato de pili, delicias de pili, and Coriuoso. Other eatables enjoy the waray nomenclature as in puto, moron and binagol. Pahoy-pahoy dolls are also available which are handcrafted by talented Calbiganons.
A Catbaloganon, Raul Reyes claims that his native Catbalogan pales if compared to Calbiga for truly Calbiga has it all – nature, culture and adventure!

Galangdon Headcanons
They’re like a gay version of Gomez and Morticia Addams.
• Gallant likes to count Michael’s rings.
• It helps him fall asleep.
• Michael gives him one of his rings every time they have to spend some time away from each other.
• He takes Gallant’s hand, puts the ring on his finger and then kisses it.
• Gallant kisses the ring after Michael leaves.
• It’s like an indirect kiss.
• They have very different styles.
• Michael only wears black outfits and Gallant has the most fabulous clothes, most of them being pink or magenta.
• He doesn’t like wearing black but he still wears Michael’s coats and claims it’s “for the aesthetic”.
• Michael doesn’t mind.
• Gallant likes to put on pink lipstick and somehow it always ends up on Michael’s lips (and other parts of his body).
• Gallant likes to braid Michael’s hair and do his makeup.
• Michael allows him to use his hair to practice.
• “I’m gonna do a french braid”
• “You’re not expecting me to wear it, are you?”
• “Please? For me?”
• “Ugh, fine. The sacrifices I make for you…”
• “I’ll suck you off later to repay you”
• “Oh, you better!”
• Gallant’s soul and body literally belong to Michael and he’s surprisingly okay with it.
• Michael says there’s a special place in hell for him.
• “Don’t worry, doll. It’s not as hot as you think”
• “It’s not? I thought it was lit”
• “…I hate you”
• They’re the kinkiest motherfuckers.
• Gallant moans louder than a professional porn star.
• They kept the rubber suit.
• Gallant is supposed to call Michael “master” or “sir” but he always ends up forgetting and calling him “Mikey”.
• Michael slaps him every time he does that and he keeps doing it on purpose.
• He’s a masochist.
• Actually, they’re both into BDSM.
• Bible Discussion & Study Meeting.
• Gallant is not allowed to go to the Folsom Street Fair anymore.
• Not since… last time.
• But that’s okay because Michael is a good dom.
• And Gallant loves to be his sub.
• He’s really into being tied up and spanked.
• He has a tattoo somewhere that says “sticks and stones may break my bones but chains and whips excite me”.
• Michael loves to whip him.
• Especially because he moans loudly every time he does it.
• Ritual sex? Ritual sex.
• Blood play; knife play.
• Gallant likes to be humiliated and praised at the same time.
• Ritual sex it’s the wildest sex they have.
• Michael always brings someone for them to kill.
• Gallant has no problem with killing people as long as they’re bad.
• For example: Michael is not allowed to kill a random innocent guy but if he wants to brutally torture and murder a pedophile, Gallant’s on board with that.
• He actually enjoys to watch Michael murder people.
• Especially if he eats their heart.
• Yes, Gallant has a heart eating kink.
• Michael does that Tongue Thing and it drives him crazy.
• They have a special day of the week where they have hearts for dinner.
• It’s Heart Tuesday.
• Obviously Gallant has his cooked, like a normal person.
• It’s a beautiful scene.
• Gallant is a gentleman, eating with knife and fork and using a napkin.
• Michael eats like an animal.
• He practically chews the beating heart, eats with his bare hands and gets blood everywhere.
• It’s like that one scene from Beauty And The Beast.
• Gallant casually sips wine and stares at Michael with a contemplating look on his face.
• Michael and Gallant are both extremely needy, although Michael at least tries not to show it.
• No one has ever loved him and needed him as much as Gallant does and it’s a relief to be with someone that he knows won’t leave him.
• Gallant needs constant reassuring that Michael loves him and doesn’t consider him disposable.
• Mallory and Michael became friends because Gallant and Coco are always hanging out.
• They go shopping and drag their lovers with them.
• Mallory and Michael bond over the fact that they both hate shopping.
• Michael is not a huge fan of pet names but he calls Gallant “Gal”, “doll” and “sweetheart”.
• He also calls him a lot of pet names in Latin like “cara”, “deliciae” and “pulchra”.
• Gallant loves it.
• He went to a very prestigious catholic school so he’s practically fluent in Latin.
• They speak Latin to each other all the time when they don’t want other people to understand what they’re saying.
• Gallant is basically an attention whore.
• Michael has to kiss him all the time otherwise he’ll cross his arms and pout.
• “Mikeeeeey! Why don’t you ever kiss me anymore?”
• “We were making out five minutes ago”
• He’ll interrupt an important meeting with the Cooperative just to sit on Michael’s lap.
• Michael lets him stay and play with his hair.
• “You have to stop distracting me in the middle of a meeting”
• “But it’s booooring!”
• Michael is a sucker for Gallant’s cute little pouty face.
• He can get anything from him if he just pouts: money, car, jewelry, dick.
• He’s kind of a dumbass so Michael has to be the voice of reason in this relationship.
• He also gets easily distracted by shiny things, especially diamonds.
• Michael gets him a ton of expensive jewelry that he doesn’t even wear, he just likes to admire it.
• If he has a stressful day and cries about something, Michael just gives him the shiniest jewel he can find.
• “You don’t understand! I never- t-they didn’t even payed for my h-hard work!”
• “I understand, doll”
• “And s-she still wouldn’t gi- oh, is that a RED DIAMOND?!”
• Gallant has an unhealthy obsession with Michael’s hair.
• He likes to sleep with his face buried on his hair.
• Sometimes they shower together and Gallant spends most of the time washing Michael’s hair.
• He grabs his hair to sniff it before going to work and it’s really creepy.
• “I want your hair inside of me”
• “For the love of Satan, get some help!”
• When Michael told him his hair was starting to bother him because it was too big and asked him to cut it, he almost cried.
• He agreed to give him a haircut but he cried the whole time.
• And he saved every single piece of hair he could find.
• “All of this precious hair on the floor of MY salon? Nonsense, I’ll keep it”
• Their fights are intense.
• Sometimes they scream at each other’s faces in Latin and no one understands what’s going on.
• Michael gets childish when they fight and starts throwing stuff around.
• Gallant just goes full on sarcasm mode.
• “Nice, Michael. Break everything! I’m sure that’ll help me understand how mature you are”
• Their fights mostly end when Gallant gets tired and starts crying.
• Michael stops yelling immediately.
• “Oh, don’t- don’t cry, sweetheart. Please don’t cry, I’m sorry!”
• Michael hates seeing Gallant upset about something.
• When he’s sad, Michael wraps his arms around him and absorbs all of his negative emotions.
• Gallant doesn’t notice it.
• They always talk about how awful their grandmothers are.
• “Nana used to lock me on the closet… literally”
• “Grandma smacked me every time I told people how old she really was”
• They had pretty shitty childhoods so they try their best to be there for each other no matter what.
• “I love you, Mikey”
• “You know I absolutely adore you, pulchra”
• “Oh, really? I thought you wouldn’t fuck me if I was the last man on earth”
• “Shut up”
