Here are 13 (famously Swift's favorite number) notable achievements surrounding the chart arrival of Folklore and its songs.
First artist ever to debut atop Hot 100 & Billboard 200 simultaneously: With "Cardigan" and Folklore, Swift is the first artist to debut at No. 1 on the Hot 100 and Billboard 200 in the same week. The Billboard 200 began on March 24, 1956, and the Hot 100 originated on Aug. 4, 1958.
41st song to debut at No. 1 on Hot 100: "Cardigan" is the 41st song to debut at No. 1 on the Hot 100. It's Swift's second, after "Shake It Off" on the chart dated Sept. 6, 2014.
Swift is the eighth artist with multiple No. 1 Hot 100 entrances, joining Ariana Grande (the leader with four), Justin Bieber, Mariah Carey, Drake (three each), Lady Gaga, Travis Scott and Britney Spears (two each).
Meanwhile, "Cardigan" is the sixth song to debut atop the Hot 100 in 2020, extending the record for the most in a single year. Four songs each started at No. 1 in both 2018 and 1995.
Swift's sixth No. 1: Swift scores her sixth Hot 100 leader. Here's a recap:
"We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together," three weeks, beginning Sept. 1, 2012
"Shake It Off," four weeks, beginning Sept. 6, 2014
"Blank Space," seven weeks, beginning Nov. 29, 2014
"Bad Blood," feat. Kendrick Lamar, one week, June 6, 2015
"Look What You Made Me Do," three weeks, beginning Sept. 16, 2017
"Cardigan," one week to-date, Aug. 8, 2020
Swift is the 26th artist in the Hot 100's history with at least six No. 1s, and the ninth solo woman. The Beatles lead all acts with 20 No. 1s, followed by Carey with 19.
First woman to debut two songs in top five simultaneously: With "Cardigan" at No. 1 and "The 1" at No. 4, Swift is the first woman, and third act overall, to debut two songs in the Hot 100's top five simultaneously.
Lil Wayne first earned the honor with "Mona Lisa," featuring Kendrick Lamar (No. 2), and "Don't Cry," featuring XXXTentacion (No. 5), on Oct. 13, 2018. Just two weeks ago, on the July 25 chart, the late Juice WRLD entered at Nos. 2 and 5, respectively, with "Come & Go," with Marshmello, and "Wishing Well."
Swift is, thus, the first artist to debut two songs in the Hot 100's top four spots simultaneously.
Three debuts in top 10: As "Cardigan," "The 1" and "Exile" arrive at Nos. 1, 4 and 6, respectively, Swift debuts three songs in the Hot 100's top 10 simultaneously for the first time. She's the sixth artist to accomplish the feat, following Drake (July 14, 2018), Lil Wayne (Oct. 13, 2018) and Juice WRLD (July 25), who share the record with four debuts each in the top 10 simultaneously, and J. Cole (May 5, 2018) and Lil Uzi Vert (March 21, 2020), each with three.
Further, Swift is the first artist to debut three songs in the Hot 100's top six spots in a single week.
Swift up to 28 career top 10s, tied for sixth-most: Swift swells her count of career Hot 100 top 10s from 25 to 28, tying Mariah Carey and Stevie Wonder for the sixth-best sum.
Here is a recap of the acts with the most Hot 100 top 10s, dating to the chart's Aug. 4, 1958, inception (two years after Elvis Presley's commercial breakthrough):
Most Hot 100 Top 10s
40, Drake
38, Madonna
34, The Beatles
31, Rihanna
30, Michael Jackson
28, Mariah Carey
28, Taylor Swift
28, Stevie Wonder
27, Elton John
27, Janet Jackson
25, Lil Wayne
25, Elvis Presley
18 career top 10 debuts: Swift extends her record among women for the most debuts in the Hot 100's top 10, as her three new arrivals lift her total to 18. Among all acts, only Drake has more: 25.
16 songs from Folklore hit Hot 100: Swift sends the entirety of the standard edition of Folklore onto the Hot 100, as its 16 songs enter the chart, from "Cardigan" at No. 1 to album closer "Hoax" at No. 71.
Folklore is Swift's second consecutive album whose standard version has fully infused the Hot 100: 18 songs from Lover, which soared in atop the Billboard 200 dated Sept. 7, 2019, charted on the Hot 100 the same week.
Swift passes Nicki Minaj for most Hot 100 entries among women: Swift surges from 97 career Hot 100 entries to 113, passing Nicki Minaj (110) for the most among women.
Swift also becomes the 10th act with at least 100 Hot 100 entries, as she ascends to the fourth-best total. Here's an updated leaderboard:
Most Hot 100 Entries
224, Drake
207, Glee Cast
169, Lil Wayne
113, Taylor Swift
111, Future
110, Nicki Minaj
109, Elvis Presley
108, Kanye West
101, Chris Brown
100, Jay-Z
First solo woman at No. 1 since January: "Cardigan" is the first Hot 100 No. 1 billed solely to one woman since Carey's "All I Want for Christmas Is You" logged three weeks on top from Dec. 21, 2019, through Jan. 4. Before that, Selena Gomez's "Lose You to Love Me" led the Nov. 9 list.
'Cardigan' No. 1 in streams & sales: With 34 million U.S. streams and 71,000 sold in the week ending July 30, "Cardigan" starts as the most-streamed and top-selling song of the week. Swift scores her third Streaming Songs No. 1 and her record-extending 20th Digital Song Sales No. 1, furthering her lead on the latter list over runner-up Rihanna (14).
"Cardigan" was on sale in Swift's webstore via multiple physical/digital combination offerings during the tracking week, ending July 30, including an alternate "Cabin in Candlelight" version released July 29. Consumers could purchase CD and vinyl singles, each with a digital download; the download would be sent to consumers upon purchase, with physical versions due to arrive at a later date.
Radio tries on 'Cardigan': "Cardigan" drew 12.7 million in radio airplay audience in its first full week, ending Aug. 2. It rises 26-17 on the Adult Pop Songs airplay chart and debuts at No. 19 on Adult Contemporary and No. 27 on Pop Songs.
Bon Iver's first Hot 100 top 10: With "Exile" debuting at No. 6 on the Hot 100, Bon Iver earns its first top 10 on the chart. The act, fronted by Justin Vernon, previously charted two titles, both in 2010 as featured on songs on Kanye West's album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, led by the No. 18-peaking "Monster," also featuring Jay-Z, Rick Ross and Minaj.
"Cardigan" dethrones DaBaby's seven-week Hot 100 leader "Rockstar," featuring Roddy Ricch. The track holds at No. 2 on the Radio Songs chart (67.9 million, up 10%) and dips to No. 3 on Streaming Songs, after nine weeks at No. 1 (32.9 million, down 9%), and 5-7 on Digital Song Sales (10,000, down 6%).

Looking back on 2019 I decided to list a handful of political / alternative news websites rather than films, albums or books. In the UK the corporate media stooped to shocking new lows during our recent General Election campaign. Such dirty tactics are to be expected of conglomerates owned by the likes of Rupert Murdoch and his fellow right wing billionaires but this time around, previously ‘liberal’ outlets such as the BBC and Guardian also fully participated in the outrageous lies, smears and character assassination against the leader of the opposition Labour Party. The British population were now being forced fed the Establishment’s propaganda du jour from every possible direction. Personally I try to gather my information from as many alternative outlets as possible to contrast with the 24 hour corporate brainwashing we’re subjected to these days. I’ve listed just five sites from the dozens I regularly visit and although I certainly don’t agree with everything expressed on these sites I do feel that it essential that in supposed free and democratic societies we are at least exposed to a variety of viewpoints and opinions - rather than being trapped inside social media echo chambers in an Internet that is increasingly controlled and censored by sophisticated algorithms and where politically correct digital lynch mobs accuse anyone with an opinion that contradicts the official narrative of being a Russian agent! Anyway, a Happy New Year to you all and here’s hoping 2020 sets the new decade off in roaring style!

Weasel Walter

2019 was far from my favorite year. Regardless, I managed to release not one, but two new double albums by The Flying Luttenbachers (as well as two European tours with the unit) in addition to the usual slew of improvised music gigs and releases, and co-ordinating and producing an archival release of vintage NYC weirdness (Ozone). I also rocked Mexico City with Lydia Lunch Retrovirus, played a ridiculous gig with Encenathrakh, and disbanded Cellular Chaos (for now, at least).
When I become obsessed (or re-obsessed with something), it usually leads to a ton of proselytizing Facebook status posts. Combing my 2019 posts, it seems that my musical obsessions this year weren't very highbrow. Ha ha ha. Yes, I'm super into Xenakis, Cecil Taylor and whatever else, but dumber music can supply great creature comfort, and I guess I needed that in large amounts, so that's what it was. Sometimes badass modernists have to take time out to stay in bed all day and read comics because it's a hard cold world out there.
Weasel Walter top 10 musical obsessions of 2019 1. Kid Creole and the Coconuts (1980-1985 era) 2. Redd Kross 3. The Saints "I'm Stranded" 4. Jane Aire and the Belvederes 5. Miles Davis 1972-1975 6. Khanate "Things Viral 7. Mandy Zone & Ozone "Live at Max's Kansas City 1981" 8. Mayhem "Grand Declaration of War" 9. Comedy Bang Bang Episode #554 w/ Middleditch, Sanz 10. Weezer "Pinkerton"

The song is from Swift's new LP Folklore, which launches at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart, as Swift becomes the first artist ever to debut at No. 1 on both the Hot 100 and Billboard 200 in the same week.
Folklore was released July 24 on Republic Records, after being first teased by Swift only the day before.
"Cardigan" is joined by two other songs from the set that debut in the Hot 100's top 10: "The 1," at No. 4, and "Exile," featuring Bon Iver, at No. 6.
Plus, Jawsh 685 and Jason Derulo's "Savage Love (Laxed – Siren Beat)" enters the Hot 100's top 10, rising 12-10.
Let's run down the top 10 of the newest Hot 100, which blends all-genre U.S. streaming, radio airplay and sales data. All charts (dated Aug. 8) will update on Billboard.com tomorrow (Aug. 4).
"Cardigan," the 1,106th No. 1 in the Hot 100's 62-year history, enters with 34 million U.S. streams and 71,000 downloads sold in the week ending July 30, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data. It concurrently debuts atop both the Streaming Songs and Digital Song Sales charts.
The song also drew 12.7 million in all-format radio airplay audience in the week ending Aug. 2.
Swift is the seventh artist with multiple No. 1 Hot 100 entrances, joining Justin Bieber, Mariah Carey, Drake, Ariana Grande (the leaders with three each), Travis Scott and Britney Spears (two each).
1, 2012 "Shake It Off," four weeks, beginning Sept. 6, 2014 "Blank Space," seven weeks, beginning Nov. 29, 2014 "Bad Blood," feat. Kendrick Lamar, one week, June 6, 2015 "Look What You Made Me Do," three weeks, beginning Sept. 16, 2017 "Cardigan," one week to-date, Aug.
Most Hot 100 Top 10s 40, Drake 38, Madonna 34, The Beatles 31, Rihanna 30, Michael Jackson 28, Mariah Carey 28, Taylor Swift 28, Stevie Wonder 27, Elton John 27, Janet Jackson 25, Lil Wayne 25, Elvis Presley
Most Hot 100 Entries 224, Drake 207, Glee Cast 169, Lil Wayne 113, Taylor Swift 111, Future 110, Nicki Minaj 109, Elvis Presley 108, Kanye West 101, Chris Brown 100, Jay-Z
"Rockstar" concurrently rules the multi-metric Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and Hot Rap Songs charts for an eighth week each.
Jack Harlow's "Whats Poppin," featuring DaBaby, Tory Lanez and Lil Wayne, drops to No. 3 on the Hot 100 from its No. 2 high.
The Weeknd's "Blinding Lights" descends 4-5 on the Hot 100, following its four-week rule. It tops Radio Songs for a 17th frame (76.2 million in audience, up 2%), moving to within a week of potentially tying for the longest command since the chart started in December 1990.
Most Weeks at No. 1 on Radio Songs 18, "Iris," Goo Goo Dolls, beginning Aug. 1, 1998 17, "Blinding Lights," The Weeknd, April 18, 2020 16, "Girls Like You," Maroon 5 feat. Cardi B, Aug. 4, 2018 16, "We Belong Together," Mariah Carey, May 28, 2005 16, "Don't Speak," No Doubt, Dec. 7, 1996
"Blinding Lights" tops the multi-metric Hot R&B Songs chart for a record-tying 20th week. It joins three other songs for a share of the mark, including another by The Weeknd, dating to the list's October 2012 start: Drake's "One Dance," featuring WizKid and Kyla (2016); The Weeknd's "Starboy," featuring Daft Punk (2016-17); and Bruno Mars' "That's What I Like" (2017).
Harry Styles' "Watermelon Sugar" holds at its No. 7 Hot 100 high; SAINt JHN's "Roses" slides 5-8, after reaching No. 4; and Megan Thee Stallion's former one-week leader "Savage," featuring Beyoncé, falls 6-9.
Rounding out the Hot 100's top 10, Jawsh 685 and Jason Derulo's "Savage Love (Laxed – Siren Beat)" enters the tier, rising 12-10. The track retreats 3-4 on Digital Song Sales, although with a 14% advance to 13,000 sold, and 10-17 on Streaming Songs, but with a 1% gain to 17.9 million U.S. streams, while climbing 40-33 on Radio Songs (23.5 million, up 23%).
New Zealand producer Jawsh 685 (real name: Joshua Nanai) hits the Hot 100's top 10 in his first visit to the chart, while Derulo adds his seventh top 10 and first since the No. 5-peaking "Want to Want Me" in 2015.
(A "savage" garden: Three songs with "savage" in their titles have hit the Hot 100 all-time, and two of them rank back-to-back at Nos. 9 and 10 this week. The other? Rod Hart's "C.b. Savage," which reached No. 67 in 1977.)

My Top 20 of 2018 (with 3 bonus songs) 1. “Jumpsuit” Twenty One Pilots – I was so excited when this song was released in the summer with news of an album in the fall. “Jumpsuit” is by far my favorite on Trench and I have loved it since my first listen. The heavy bass and Tyler’s screams at the end make this song amazing. Although this song did not become as big as I believe it should have, it defines the start of the Trench era and is my number one this year. 2. “Youngblood” 5 Seconds of Summer – This is another song that I absolutely loved on the first listen. The rhythm, the drums, the bass, the vocals; everything makes it catchy and creates a song that is easy to jam out to. “Youngblood” is a unique and well-written song that has to be second on my list. 3. “High Hopes” Panic! At the Disco – I have a trend with all these top songs that I loved on the first listen; yes, “High Hopes” is another one. This is a fun, upbeat song from Panic! At the Disco. Of course, Brendon Urie’s vocals are amazing. My favorite part is during the last chorus when everything in the background is quiet and then there’s a boom as the drums bring it all back in. All of these elements make it my number three in my Top 20. 4. “Natural” Imagine Dragons – Imagine Dragons never disappoint. They made another hit single this year with “Natural.” Dan Reynold’s growling vocals deliver this powerful song while the drums back him up. The lyrics and musicality put “Natural” high on the list for 2018. 5. “you should see me in a crown” Billie Eilish – I had heard of Billie Eilish in 2017 but didn’t take the time to listen to her music until the summer. I found I really enjoyed her music, but I absolutely love “you should see me in a crown.” This song has both heavy and soft moments placed perfectly with the lyrics. Thus, its placement is high on my list. 6. “In My Blood” Shawn Mendes – I was quite surprised when I heard this song from Shawn Mendes. I have enjoyed his previous singles, but I absolutely love this one. Mendes’ vocals deliver important, relatable lyrics. He describes the process of overcoming crushing anxiety with music that is both soft and powerful. I knew for a long time that this song would be in my Top 20, so here it finally is. 7. “Happier” Marshmello feat. Bastille – I have been enjoying Marshmello’s latest singles and have always loved Bastille, so I was excited to hear this collaboration and was not disappointed. Bastille’s Dan Smith brings wrenching vocals that help portray the story of loss told through the lyrics. The EDM creates an interesting contrast at times, thus making this a unique song deserving a place in the top half of my list. 8. “Pray for Me” The Weeknd and Kendrick Lamar – Do we all agree Black Panther was an amazing film this year? Can we also agree it had some pretty great music? “Pray for Me” is my personal favorite from the soundtrack. The Weeknd and Kendrick Lamar’s vocals and lyrics match the power of the tribal sounding background. This song has a one-of-a-kind sound that I must include it here. 9. “My My My!” Troye Sivan – Troye Sivan released a fantastic album with Bloom. “My My My!” was the first single and quickly set the tone. This song presents a fun dance beat as it tells about living life fully and loving wholeheartedly without fear. As one of my favorites of the year I had to have in this year’s Top 20. 10. “MANTRA” Bring Me the Horizon – This rock song brings many unique sounds to the eerie lyrics about starting a cult. Yet, the lyrics have a deeper meaning as singer Oli Sykes drew inspiration for the song by comparing a marriage to a two-man cult. The musicality and vocals alone make this alternative anthem close out the first half of my Top 20. 11. “Back to You” Selena Gomez –Selena Gomez released another catchy love song with “Back to You.” The music includes guitar and EDM sounds while Selena provides a range of vocals. This was one of my favorite pop songs this year, so I had to include it in this list. 12. “Head above Water” Avril Lavigne – She’s baaack! This song is quite different for Avril Lavigne, but it’s exactly what we needed to hear from her. Avril shows all her emotions with her vocals in this soft yet very powerful song. This song also has some personal connections for me, so I knew I had to have it in my Top 20. 13. “Without Me” Halsey – One of only two songs Halsey released this year, “Without Me” is a very real song about feeling betrayed after a failed relationship. Its musicality assists in perfectly presenting the songs sorrow and anger. As always, Halsey’s vocals also lift the song to new levels that make it deserving of a spot in this Top 20. 14. “TOOTIMETOOTIMETOOTIME” The 1975 – A Brief Inquiry into Online Relationships was another amazing album released in 2018. The 1975 made important commentary on the current social world which greatly revolves around online lives. “TOOTIMETOOTIMETOOTIME” is one of the most catchy and popular off the album. I knew I needed a 1975 song in this list and after much contemplation, I knew this had to be the one. 15. “Better Now” Post Malone – While Post Malone had other popular singles this year, “Better Now” has some of the most relatable lyrics. He uses the song to portray the feelings after a break up when you’re not over someone and you think they’re not over you. The covers of this song really helped me appreciate this song and even if I may have liked them more, I must credit the original in my 2018 list. 16. “Thunderclouds” Sia, Diplo, and Labrinth (LSD) – I seem to always love anything Sia is involved with. The LSD project is no exception. “Thunderclouds” was the most popular single from the project. That is clearly because of its relatable lyrics on relationships, very catchy beat, and fantastic vocals from Sia and Labrinth. Thus, I added it here. 17. “Might Not Like Me” Brynn Elliot – The first time I heard this on the radio I knew it would be a hit. It’s such a strong female empowerment song. “Might Not Like Me” is about how boys may feel too intimidated by a strong, smart woman. It can show girls everywhere that a breakup can be necessary if the dude just can’t handle your awesomeness. I always love songs like this, so it was a must for this list. 18. “Love Me Not” Whitney Woerz – I first heard a snippet of this song on a Spotify ad. I enjoyed the beat and catchy tune so much I saved the song to my Favorites. “Love Me Not” is a fun song to dance to, but I didn’t understand some of the meaning until watching the music video. The video shows that it’s about not caring if someone likes you or not, but instead just living life to the fullest. This song always got me happy when I heard it, so I made sure to include in my Top 20. 19. “Sick Boy” The Chainsmokers – This is probably my favorite Chainsmokers song ever. It has tones darker than their other radio singles like “Closer” and “Something Just Like This.” They give a political message about the East and West Coasts of America while also touching on effects of social media in the bridge. “Sick Boy” was an excellent song to start off 2018 and it needed to be present here. 20. “Nothing Breaks Like a Heart” Mark Ronson feat. Miley Cyrus – Although it was released near the end of the year, this single from Mark Ronson and Miley Cyrus is a perfect representation of 2018. The steady beat combined with Miley’s raspy vocals creates a somber song that still makes you want to dance through the heartbreak. Thus, this song concludes my Top 20 Songs of 2018. 21. (Bonus) “The Stigma (Boys Don’t Cry)” As It Is – This song made me question why in the world I had never listened to As It Is before. Now I’m a big fan of all their music. “The Stigma” begins a discussion on gender stereotypes by producing a song that presents softer tones in the beginning that abruptly build to louder, emotional tones. Patty Walters’ vocals are also superb. The whole combination requires me to acknowledge this song as a bonus in my list. 22. (Bonus) “Medication” YUNGBLUD – YUNGBLUD (aka Dominic Harrison) is another artist I found this year and absolutely fell in love with. I made a recommendation on this blog earlier in the year, so you can check that out to read more about why I’m a fan of him. “Medication” is my favorite song from him this year, so I made it my second bonus song. It discusses society’s consistent need to medicate those with mental illness, even if those medications create a false reality and suppressing their true self. 23. (Bonus) “Death of a Hero” Alec Benjamin – Alec Benjamin was the final artist I became a big fan of this year. While his main single is “Let Me Down Slowly”, “Death of a Hero” was the song that made me decide to check out the rest of his songs. I also made a review of him like I did with Yungblud, so you can also check that out. “Death of Hero” tells the story of someone realizing their idol is not as they appear to be. They are flawed like the rest of us, but that means they are not the hero they were imagined to be. This is one of Alec’s many powerful songs, so it is my last bonus song and officially ends my list for 2018.
I also made a Spotify playlist for this Top 20. You can check that out with the link below:

Maroon 5 and Cardi B Rule Billboard Hot 100 For Sixth Week, Post Malone and Swae Lee Debut in Top 10
Maroon 5's "Girls Like You," featuring Cardi B, spends a sixth week at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart (dated Nov. 3), fending off a challenge from Travis Scott's "Sicko Mode," which charges from No. 7 to No. 2 following the arrival of its official video.
Plus, Post Malone and Swae Lee debut at No. 9 with "Sunflower (Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse)."
Let's run down the top 10 on the newest Hot 100, which blends all-genre U.S. streaming, radio airplay and digital sales data. All charts will update on Billboard.com tomorrow (Oct. 30).
MAGIC!-al run: With a sixth week at No. 1 on the Hot 100, "Girls" boasts the longest reign by a group (of at least three members) in over four years, since MAGIC!'s "Rude" also led for six weeks, beginning July 26, 2014.
The last such longer run at No. 1? By, guess who: Maroon 5's own "One More Night" led for nine weeks beginning Sept. 29, 2012.
Ties for longest-leading radio hit since 2005: "Girls" leads the Radio Songs chart for a 14th week, with 116.1 million in audience, down 3 percent, in the week ending Oct. 28, according to Nielsen Music.
"Girls" ties Alicia Keys' "No One," in 2007-08, for the second-longest Radio Songs command this century (and continues as the longest-leading No. 1 by a group this century), after Mariah Carey's "We Belong Together" in 2005. Since the chart launched in December 1990, "Girls" moves into a fourth-place tie for the most time on top:
Longest-Leading Radio Songs No. 1s Weeks at No. 1, Title, Artist, Date Reached No. 1 18, "Iris," Goo Goo Dolls, Aug. 1, 1998 16, "We Belong Together," Mariah Carey, May 28, 2005 16, "Don't Speak," No Doubt, Dec. 7, 1996 14, "Girls Like You," Maroon 5 feat. Cardi B, Aug. 4, 2018 14, "No One," Alicia Keys, Nov. 3, 2007 14, "Because You Loved Me," Celine Dion, April 13, 1996 13, "No Scrubs," TLC, March 20, 1999 13, "I Love You Always Forever," Donna Lewis, Aug. 24, 1996 13, "One Sweet Day," Mariah Carey & Boyz II Men, Dec.  9, 1995 13, "The Sign," Ace of Base, Feb. 26, 1994 13, "End of the Road," Boyz II Men, Aug. 22, 1992
"Girls" holds at No. 9 on Digital Song Sales, with 17,000 downloads sold, down 18 percent, in the week ending Oct. 25, after leading the list for six weeks, and dips 11-12 on Streaming Songs (24.5 million U.S. streams, down 3 percent, in the week ending Oct. 25), where it reached No. 5.
"Sicko" move: Travis Scott's "Sicko Mode" surges 7-2 on the Hot 100, following the Oct. 19 premiere of its official video, besting its prior No. 4 peak set upon its Aug. 18 debut. Scott matches his best Hot 100 rank, after his featured turn, with Offset, on Kodak Black's "Zeze," which debuted at No. 2 a week ago and this week falls to No. 6 (while holding at No. 1 on Streaming Songs; 42.2 million, down 11 percent).
"Sicko" (which features Drake's vocals, although he's not credited as an artist on the song; he's also in the new video) jumps 5-2, returning to its highpoint, on Steaming Songs, up 41 percent to 38.5 million, good for top Steaming Gainer honors on the Hot 100. The track pushes 13-11 on Radio Songs (58.2 million, up 16 percent) and 22-14 on Digital Song Sales (14,000, up 37 percent).
Maroon 5's "Girls" narrowly defends its Hot 100 crown, despite declining by 5 percent, while  "Sicko" gains by 30 percent.
Meanwhile, "Sicko" hits No. 1 for the first time on both the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and Hot Rap Songs charts.
Juice WRLD's "Lucid Dreams" holds at No. 3 on the Hot 100 after reaching No. 2. As previously reported, the rapper's collaborative album with Future, Future & Juice WRLD Present... Wrld On Drugs, launches at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 (as Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper's A Star Is Born soundtrack leads the list for a third week).
Rock on: Marshmello and Bastille's "Happier" hits the Hot 100's top five, lifting 6-4, as it pushes 5-4 on Digital Song Sales (26,000, up 11 percent); 9-5 on Radio Songs (74.6 million, up 21 percent), adding the Hot 100's top Airplay Gainer award for a fifth straight week; and 14-13 on Streaming Songs (21.7 million, up 5 percent).
As pointed out by insightful chart watcher Tim Briody, "Happier" holds at its No. 3 high on Alternative Songs and becomes the first hit that has charted on Alternative Songs to make its first appearance in the Hot 100's top five this year. It's the first song to achieve the feat since Imagine Dragons' "Thunder," which peaked at No. 4 on the Hot 100 last December (becoming the fourth such hit of 2017).
"Happier" spends a fifth week at No. 1 on the Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart.
Post Malone's "Better Now" slips 4-5 on the Hot 100, after hitting No. 3; as noted above, "Zeze" descends 2-6; 5 Seconds of Summer's "Youngblood" rebounds to its No. 7 high from No. 9; and, Lil Baby and Gunna's "Drip Too Hard" keeps at No. 8 following its No. 4 peak.
Web gem: Post Malone and Swae Lee spin their way to a No. 9 Hot 100 debut with "Sunflower (Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse)." Following its first full week of tracking, it enters Digital Song Sales at No. 6 (24,000) and Streaming Songs at No. 8 (24.2 million), while sporting 13.2 million in airplay audience.
Post Malone adds his fifth Hot 100 top 10 (and fourth to debut in the region) and Swae Lee scores his second, following French Montana's "Unforgettable," on which he's featured (No. 3, August 2017). (Rae Sremmurd, of which Swae Lee is half, with brother Slim Jxmmi, has also charted in the tier, with the seven-week No. 1 "Black Beatles," featuring Gucci Mane, in 2016-17.)
"Sunflower" is the first single from the animated Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse soundtrack, due Dec. 14, the day that the film (featuring the voices of Shameik Moore, Hailee Steinfeld and Mahershala Ali, among others) opens nationwide. The song is the second Hot 100 top 10 from a Spider-Man soundtrack, and the first in 16 years; Chad Kroeger's "Hero," featuring Josey Scott, from Music from and Inspired by Spider-Man, hit No. 3 in July 2002.
Rounding out the Hot 100's top 10, Khalid and Normani's "Love Lies" returns to the bracket (14-10), after reaching No. 9 (Sept. 8).
Just beyond the Hot 100's top 10, DJ Snake's "Taki Taki," featuring Selena Gomez, Ozuna and Cardi B, jumps 16-11, as it returns for a third week atop Hot Latin Songs; Halsey's "Without Me" bounds 23-12 on the Hot 100, as the chart's top Sales Gainer (27,000 sold, up 27 percent); and, Sheck Wes' "Mo Bamba" hits the top 20 (21-16).

Teen Choice Awards: ‘Riverdale’, BTS Army steal the show
Highlights included Zac Efron bromancing Hugh Jackman, while Anna Kendrick threw shade at Ryan Reynolds
It was a night of bittersweet celebration and some cheeky interplay as the Teen Choice Awards 2018 unspooled with plenty of on stage action at The Forum in Los Angeles.
The ceremony, which was hosted by Nick Cannon and Lele Pons, saw teen drama Riverdale sweep the awards with nine wins, while Zac Efron threw some love at Hugh Jackman on stage in a long and rambling speech.
The night saw some great performances by Khalid, Lauv, Evvie McKinney, Bebe Rexha and Meghan Trainor, while Chris Pratt, Chloe Grace Moretz, Anna Kendrick and Nina Dobrev beamed their way on the red carpet.
Gulf News tabloid! breaks down the top moments of the night:
Zac Efron fanboying the cast of The Greatest Showman
One of the best things to come out of The Greatest Showman — aside from the soundtrack — is the budding bromance between the lead stars Hugh Jackman and Zac Efron. Love was in the air as Efron gushed over his acceptance speech while winning three awards on the night, including Choice Drama Movie Actor, Choice Movie Ship (with Zendaya) and Choice Collaboration (Rewrite the Stars).
Speaking on his win, Efron said: “Like, from the bottom of my heart, I couldn’t ask for a more cooler, amazing person to work with. He’s my best dramatic actor, and a hero, and a mentor and a good friend. Thank you Hugh Jackman.”
Just when you thought, the actor had rambled on long enough, Efron took a breath and continued to thank Zendaya as well, with a final message: “Look what we did! We rewrote the stars!”
Anna Kendrick throwing shade at Ryan Reynolds
If there was ever any doubt why everyone loves Anna Kendrick, her acceptance speech after winning the surfboard for Choice Comedy Movie Actress and a surprise Choice Twit gong was a riot.
Needless to say, Kendrick used the opportunity to fuel her mock feud with Ryan Reynolds.
“Ok, did I just hear that I won Choice Twitter? Oh my God!… I have so much fun on Twitter. And I know that Mindy [Kaling] and Kumail [Nanjiani] were also nominated,” she said, before adding: “And also I know that Ryan Reynolds was nominated, so in your face Ryan! Stay in your lane!”
The Pitch Perfect 3 star has been hilariously shading Reynolds on social media with a little help from his wife Blake Lively, and her co-star from A Simple Favor.
In June, Lively tweeted an image of the poster of the upcoming thriller, posting: “@annakendrick47 is the hotter, female(r) version of my husband… so, would it reaaaally count as cheating??”
Kendrick soon chimed in to write: “So glad we’re finally taking this public. I let Ryan have Deadpool, he can give me this.”
Reynolds, meanwhile, wouldn’t have any of it. In an interview with ET at Comic-Con, Reynolds responded to the war of tweets saying: “I know a lot of guys that would be fine with that, but not me. I would like to hang onto her.”
Riverdale’s still waters run deep
The teen drama swept the Teen Choice Awards with a total of nine solid wins, including Choice Drama TV Show and Choice Liplock. The whole cast, including KJ Apa, Cole Sprouse, Lili Reinhart, Camila Mendes, Madelaine Petsch and Vanessa Morgan, turned up for the night with their cheeky behaviour firmly in check.
Apa was on a roll with that epic photobomb of real-life couple Sprouse and Reinhart who won Choice TV Ship and Liplock. Although, Sprouse, who plays Jughead on the Archie-comics inspired show, wouldn’t let Apa get off so easily.
While accepting the Choice Drama TV show, Sprouse gave his best bud a friendly little spank on stage to ebb him on with his speech.
Shadowhunters for the win
It was a bittersweet moment for fans when the cast of the Freeform series, Shadowhunters: The Mortal Instruments, turned up on stage to accept the surfboard for the Choice Sci-Fi TV Show. Earlier this week, the show’s makers confirmed there would be no fourth season after it wraps up the current one.
Fans have been campaigning for Netflix or some other streaming platform to come in to sweep the day.
After seven nominations, this Choice win, along with an award for lead star Matthew Daddario for Choice Sci-Fi TV Actor, was a fitting end to the series for fans.
Spoiler alert: It’s Chris Hemsworth again
When Chris Hemsworth is in the picture, you can be rest assured some goofy antic is about to go down. The Aussie star accepted his Choice Sci-Fi Movie Actor via FaceTime, with a little help from the awards mascot, Choicey.
Hopping with glee, Hemsworth, who plays Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, was quick to give fans a bit of gossip of what would go down in the upcoming sequel to Avengers: Infinity War.
Unfortunately for us, the connection quiet conveniently cut off at all the key moments. Although, Hemsworth did get a final message out where he thanked his fans for the win, before shouting: “Thanos! Stop killing my friends!”
All hail the BTS Army
K-Pop continued its global domination with boy band BTS and its Army of fans winning top awards at the Teen Choice 2018. While BTS was not around to accept its Choice International Artist for the second consecutive year, its Army of fans were definitely around to win Choice Fandom, beating out against fans of Taylor Swift, Fifth Harmony and One Direction. That is a feat in itself.
Watching them storm the Teen Choice stage was pure gold!
