S/O needs to reassure Hawks because i can see him having trust issues toward women (i mean... spoiler. Mom betrayed him and left)...
And... Spoiler again. She sold him twice. TWICE. Anyways, let’s try to forget this pain with this fluff. Hope you like it!
Author’s note: There is a cameo of a character from another universe, let’s see if you guys catch it👀
Until the Hurting is Gone
The evening went well. All of your friends gathered at your shared apartment with Hawks, and thank God you didn't have any friend that was too much into social media, and just one of them asked to take a picture with your boyfriend. Truth be told, you couldn't blame her, meeting the Winged Hero was not a daily thing to do.
Laughs were shared, memories, jokes, just a normal gathering with good old friends. Maybe too good friends. Or so Keigo thought.
Yes, he was a jealous man but not the possessive kind, at least not when he was not near his rut. But that friend of yours? He was way too close, too nice, too cool. The bastard was even good looking. And Keigo was starting to feel unsure. And couldn't say anything because he was your life best friend.
Despite his feelings almost raging inside of him, it was better to get distracted and not ruin your night because of jealousy, so the best answer was to get along with your other friends, the ones that he did like him. However, his avians traits were not helping. At all. And he could hear your laughter loud and clear, and thanks to the tingle in his feathers he turned around, praying not to break the glass on his hand.
''Oh my god, yes! Do you remember when we were in high school and had to get in the closet because of that seven minutes in heaven game?''
''And we clapped and screamed like idiots, the whole class thought we were dating afterward'' You and your friend laughed again.
''Man, that getaway was the best, I swear! The whole class on a cabin on the beach? I had never been more proud of a punishment''
''You were grounded like a month, but hey, if it hadn't been for me you would still be grounded'' Jean laughed.
''Oh shut up you idiot. That was because my parents love you, because they don't know you're crazier than a cow''
''You know I'm right and the best, you just can't face it'' He shrugged his shoulders and used his hand to pull his hair back. The bastard had an undercut? Damn he was fine, Keigo said to himself. ''We should have a getaway like that one again, for the good old times''
''Yes! That'd be so cool! We have to make the plans for this one, you know that as long as a plan includes us, drink and something reckless, I'm in''
The way you winked at him killed Keigo. All of his insecurities got together, his chest suddenly felt tighter and he did a whole tour on all of his flaws as a breathing being. He even thought about his looks, his messy hair, how he wasn't so muscular as other heroes, the bird marks on his eyes, his other bird traits. Yes, he was feeling like hell. Why could he be with someone like you when you matched so well with Jean? Were you going to leave him too? Damn, he could even hear the awful words his parents once told him.
Keigo kept quiet during the rest of the night, and just smiled and wave when all of your friends finally left, his hurt aching at the tight hug you gave Jean. He was far better than him.
You went to the shower before bed, and when you got out you couldn't help but smile at the cute picture in front of you; Keigo was sitting leg-crossed on his side of the bed, looking down and seeming distracted while he played with his fingers. The way the skin of his tummy folded a bit over his abs making him look even cuter. And hotter at the same time. But something was off. He seemed... Sad.
''Kei? You good?'' You asked as you sat on your side, trying to look at him.
''Yeah, I'm fine'' He was known for bottle up his emotions. And the way he had answered told you he was not fine.
''You don't sound fine, love'' You pouted your lips as you rested your chin on his bare shoulder.
He didn't reply for long seconds, and he kept playing with his fingers without looking at you. Keigo was good at pretending he was good when he wasn't, but this time it seemed his emotions were stronger. And they were. Usually, he didn't have time to overthink everything, he could just carry on and feel like shit later, and now? After all of that emotion and memories tour he felt bad. Scared, like shit. All of his fears came back to him.
''y/n?'' He called your name ''Do you... Do you think I'm good enough?'' it caught you off guard.
''What do you mean with that, of course you are. You are better than good, baby'' You said gaining distance so you could look at him better ''You're the number two hero-'' He cut you off.
''Not as a hero. As a man, as... Your boyfriend'' His voice was filled with pain and vulnerability, and your heart ached about it.
''Yes, Keigo. You're the best man I've ever meet. You're kind, you're funny, you're brave, you're caring'' The list of things you could keep saying about him was endless ''I love you with my whole life, love. I couldn't ask for anyone better than you'' You whispered, caressing his cheek. But then it hit you.
You remembered that late night talk in which he had spilled his whole life to you, telling you everything about his childhood and his parents, and how his mother, the woman that supposed to be there for him no matter what sold him as a piece of meat, changed him for something better for her own benefit.
''Is it because of Jean?'' This time, you ran your hand on his golden locks. God, you loved his hair so much.
''He was... Cool. And tall, and funny, and had interesting stories to tell. He was also very good looking, and you seemed to get along with him very well'' You wished you could've avoided it, but a small smile was on your face at his naiveness.
''Jean is my best friend since I was like five, he's like an older brother to me'' You said as you kept playing with his hair. ''We went to kindergarten together, and then graduated together, and did a lot of stupid things together. I've known every single one of his girlfriends,'' You did the 'e' sound in the word 'every' longer to emphasize ''And let me tell you I'm not his type'' You laughed ''And he'd seen and known all of my boyfriends too, and guess what'' The way you whispered, make Keigo looked at you ''The only one that liked him was you. Not because you're a hero, because he thought you were cool and good to me. And good looking? Please, Kei. He has a horse face.'' You smiled at him, loving to see that glimpse of a smile on his face ''I love you, and only you, ok?'' You whispered again and he nodded. After some more seconds, he took a deep breath and talked again. Just one sentence. One that described his biggest fear.
''You're not... You're not going to leave me too, right?''
His face was like a child's. Eyes full of hope but fear at the same time, they were screaming at you, telling you 'please hold me and don't let me go' but before letting his vulnerable side show, he needed to hear it from you. He needed the reassurance only the love of his life could give him.
''I will never, Keigo, never going to leave you. Is that clear? I'm going to be with you until you're old, because there is no one I'd rather to spend my life with. Now come here, my bird boy.''
You thanked his wings were not his usual size, and that they were rather small so you could fit him in your arms. He held to your arm, resting his head on your chest and curling up his body between your legs. He didn't want to be away from you, never. You played with his hair again, but switching among his back, nape, arms, anywhere your hands could reach.
''I'm sorry for being an insecure little shit'' He said.
''Don't be. It is important to let your feelings out, I will always listen to you'' A kiss on his temple.
''I love you. So, so much'' He whispered and snuggled even closer to you, which was a big hard because he was not a five year old, he was a grown up man cuddling and clinging to you like a child ''I love you'' He said again.
''I love you too, my Keigo'' You said one more time before continuing with your ministrations. A thing was for sure, you were going to hug him until his hurting was gone. Even if that meant held him forever. Because you knew he was going to do the same

everyone else is fighting for second {Mortal Kombat (2021)}
SPOILERS FOR MORTAL KOMBAT (2021)
Summary: Canon Divergent AU. Crack & Fluff. The team develops into something of a found family, which happens to include Cole's actual family. They take a day off from fighting to go to the fair, where the biggest question is 'who is Cole's daughter's favourite in the team?' Besides her dad, of course. Kano is very competitive about this question.
A/N: 1968 words. I will take a meat-tenderizer and FIX the canon and make it SOFT. i love cole young and mk 2021, if you don't like that, you've been warned. everybody lives/nobody dies AU & kano isn't a traitor. also imagine there's just like.... more time before the tournament. enough to become a found family. like i said, fluff & crack. warnings for swearing.
If Cole had it his way, Emily and Kano would have never met. He would be perfectly happy letting everyone else on the team meet her, but he's yet to hear a single sentence leave Kano's mouth that didn't include some colourful variation of 'fuck', 'shit', 'wanker', or 'cunt'. So unsurprisingly, he wasn't exactly eager to let his teenager daughter near the man who Sonya had literally called 'scum of the Earth', but alas.
"I'll be on my best behaviour, pinky-swear!" Kano's grin was all teeth as he'd held his pinky finger up to Cole's glowering face, wiggling it a little when Cole made no move to finish the pinky-swear.
"If you say - cunt -" and the word sounds so uncomfortable coming from Cole, he damn well looks uncomfortable just saying it, "within a hundred feet of her, I'll get Kung Lao to cut you in half." And he gesutres over to where Kung Lao and the rest of their ragtag bunch of misfits; the man in question had forgone his usual weapon for a more modern, soft-brimmed sunhat, but his jaunty wave to Kano at the sound of his name still managed to be menacing. The Australian shuddered in horror at the mere thought; at least he took the threat seriously.
"You don't have to be jealous, man," the threat seemed to only have dampened Kano's jovial attitude momentarily, as he's got a spring in his step as he follows Cole to the rest of the gathered champions, "Uncle Kano's gonna set a fuckin' - flippin' -" he corrects himself as Cole shoots him a warning look, "great example." Sonya barks a loud, derisive laugh as Cole sees fit to remind him that he's not Uncle Kano.
"Emily's a good kid," Liu Kang assures, kind and sincere.
"Yeah, she never even believes me when I tell her Kano's a dirty, little rat," Kung Lao smirks in the face of Kano's sudden outrage, and Cole is pretty sure that, despite it being Emily and Alison's idea, to give the team a day of levity and to bond, this might be the worst plan he's ever agreed to.
"This is a day of bonding, not of infighting," Raiden's voice joins them, followed by the God himself only moments later, which is enough to unite all the champions in confusion at his choice of wardrobe for the day. While still sporting a majority of his usual attire, somehow he'd managed to procure a t-shirt with a meme of all things on it, a personalised meme!
"I designed it myself, I think it turned out pretty okay; whaddya think?" Kano sounded far too proud of himself, looking at the cartoon drawing of what could only be Raiden himself pointing awkwardly at Thor as depicted in Marvel Comics, who was pointing back.
"We are both Gods of Thunder," Raiden explained, pointing to his own shirt; Sonya had gone wide-eyed, unsure of how to react, while Jaxx was doing his utmost not to burst out laughing.
"I... didn't know you knew what a meme was," Cole admits, though honestly, once the shock had worn off of, it was rather charming.
"I didn't know you knew what a meme was," Kano fired back, equally confused.
"I have a thirteen-year-old, of course I know what a meme is -" but then it seems to hit him just as it hits Sonya and Jax, and the three of them turn to the pair of confused, cave-dwelling, internet-free champions. None of them knew where to begin trying to explain the whole situation, but thankfully, Raiden chose that moment to open a lightning portal, and they all headed through quickly.
----
The night that Cole and his family had gone home after everything had gone down, the fighting, Sub-Zero, and the man he's pretty sure is the ghost of his ancestor, Emily had looked him dead in the eye and called him a super hero.
And then told him that his friends were really cool.
This was a sentiment that his new friends seemed to share about his family.
Cole quickly comes to realise that family isn't something a lot of the rest of the team have nowadays; they have each other, but for a lot of them, that's mostly it. He sits on an invite to dinner that he'd already ran past Alison several days ago, before inviting Liu Kang and Kung Lao over, if nothing else, to repay the hospitality they'd shown him so early on.
Alison's rule was that there was to be peace on their property; no training, no fighting, but the team was welcome as long as they didn't bring trouble to the door.
So then it was Sonya and Jaxx, who brought dessert when they came over.
Emily once asked what Thunder Gods ate. Did they eat? Cole wasn't sure. He extends an invite to Raiden anyways, but it's politely declined. The next time, however, he took up Cole's invite, mostly for the company, and to thank Alison and Emily for their patience; having Cole away so often wasn't easy, he'd be the first to acknowledge that. Alison appreciated the sentiment, as did Emily, though she was also just bursting with questions for the God, and he did his best to answer what he could.
Then finally - finally - after so long spent with the team, of most of them coming to find comfort and serenity in his home on the occasions that they need it, Kano is invited to Sunday lunch too.
----
"I know us champions and our super powers are pretty cool," Kano says to Emily, the moment they step through the lightning portal and emerge into the sunshine and the noise of the fair, "but I'm your favourite, right? Besides your old man, of course," and he rolls his eyes a little at that, as does Cole, for very different reasons, while Alison shoots Cole a questioning look. Thankfully she still does not trust Kano as far as she could throw him.
For her part, Emily answers incredibly diplomatically, sounding much older than her thirteen years, and quite a bit like her mother;
"Kano, you're a grown man, my approval shouldn't matter to you," she sounds sincere, which is completely undercut by Kung Lao sliding into step beside Kano.
"Which means you're not her favourite," he teases, and Kano practically growls back, embarrassed, while Emily calls out to Raiden that she likes his shirt. He practically beams.
"Not a lot of people will really get it, though," she points out, and Raiden muses on that for a moment.
"But I get it, and it's mine."
"Fair point," Emily nods at that, as their strange group steps up to buy tickets.
---
Emily spends more of the fair of people's shoulders than she does actually walking, which delights her endlessly. Mostly she's up on Jax's shoulders, and charges her cotton candy for the ride, ripping a small chunk from the one Cole had bought for her.
"It's weird seeing you all look so normal," she says to Sonya, the two of them in line for the Dodge 'Em Cars alongside Liu Kang and Kung Lao. Sonya grins, knows exactly what she means, gaze turning to the two members of the Shaolin Order of Light, not that anyone would know simply from looking at them now. Where Liu Kang had found a pair of trendy, ripped jeans was beyond Sonya's imagination.
"You look cool, though," Emily amended quickly, "I didn't realise you all would come to the fair, but I'm glad you did," she's smiling brightly as they get closer to the front of the line.
"Who did you expect to come along today?" Liu asks, eyes wide and curious. It wasn't that he was as competitive as Kung Lao or Kano, but he still found the child's interpretation of their group to be interesting. She knows, in some capacity, what they're capable off; she'd watched her father slice, dice, and kill Goro after all. The fact that she could think so highly of them speaks a lot to her capacity for kindness, or perhaps her childish naivety, but Liu preferred to think it was the former.
Emily, however, goes quiet, seems to be a little embarrassed. She mutters something, avoiding eye contact with any of them, and Liu goes to ask her to repeat herself, but she interrupts him while doing so;
"I wanted Dad to have a day off," she admitted, before adding, "and... and Lord Raiden; I don't think he's had a day off this millennium."
"It's good of you to look out for them," Sonya tells her fondly, "our team can be pretty single-minded, but we needed this day off, I think." And she gives Emily a pet on the shoulder, and lets her steer the tandem Car when they finally get a turn.
----
"It's me, right? I'm your favourite," Jax asks Emily over lunch, not because he genuinely believes it, but because it riles up Kano, and to a lesser extent, the competitive Liu Kang.
"Jax is one bad day away from pledging his allegiance to Skynet, he can't be your favourite -" Kano grumbles.
"Dad's my favourite," Emily reminds them sternly, and Cole has to hide his proud little smile, before she adds, "and mom's my favourite too, the rest of you, well of course you're all badass as hell -"
"Is it Liu? 'Cos he's pretty and you're, yanno, a teenage girl," Kano scowls at the warrior who'd been attempting to just quietly enjoy his basket of fries. Both Cole and Alison are wearing similarly murderous expressions, and Kano raised his hands in mock surrender, dropping his gaze.
"Actually," Emily said pointedly, despite the embarrassed flush on her cheeks, though she was mirroring her parents intensity, "my favourite is Raiden because he's literally a God that shoots lightning out of his hands, and you're now my least favourite because you're a rat bastard."
"I taught her that," Kung Lao was grinning from ear to ear, and when he and Emily look to each other, they share a definitive nod.
"How come he's allowed to teach her words like bastard?!" Kano demanded to know.
"Because you're a bastard," Sonya interjects.
Kano is thankfully quiet for the remainder of lunch, sulking at his end of the table as chatter returns to normal, returns to talk of how everyone else had been enjoying the day.
----
At the end of the day, Kano shoves a large, stuffed kangaroo at Emily that he'd won at the booth where you had to knock over bottles.
"Didn't even use me eye or anything; lost an hour of my life and fifty fuckin' dollars," he was grumbling, while Emily was examining the prize.
"You won this?" She seemed endeared by it, endeared by the thought that he'd put the time into winning it for her.
"'course I won it, can I stop being your least favourite now?" He asked, and Emily tucked the kangaroo beneath her arm, giving him an appraising look.
"You can't buy my loyalty -"
"Wouldn't want it if it could be bought, I know that shit from experience," Kano interjected, crossing his arms defensively, ignoring where Cole was glowering at him every time he swore.
"But you put time in, and effort, so you're back to third with everyone else."
"As long as none of those bastards is beating me, I'm okay with that."
As they headed to the exit, to where Raiden had created a lightning portal for them all to go home through, Emily reached out and punched Kano lightly in the shoulder.
"Thanks, Kano, it's pretty sweet that you care so much."
"Don't tell the others," he grumbled back.
"We've been with you all day," Jax calls out, "we already know."

Empathy - ParkJisung
Tumblr media
Pairing: High School, dancerJisung x dancerfemreader
Genre: Fluff, angst
Warnings: Swearing
Word Count: 1350
Summary: Growing up in a very competitive dancing family, you consider yourself a top-tier dancer but what happens when you’re threatened for the top spot by the guy you’re falling for?
Part 1
• It wasn’t a lie when you said you hated your older brother. Hell he was 5 years older than you but you could easily pass as his older sister. He had the humour of a 10 year old with a mind of an 18yo. In other words, he was so immature and joked around a lot and had the dirtiest mind and the list goes on.
• BUt he was also your role model growing up, focusing when he needed to and getting a scholarship to go to a prestigious dance college.
• Your parents had now shipped you off to live with your brother. They said they were moving to New Zealand to live the tourist life so either you went with them or stayed with your brother so here you were, standing outside of his apartment.
• You didn’t even knock when your brother swung open the door and pulled you into a hug, strangling you
• “Wooooww Y/N you’ve grown! You’re like not a midget anymore”
• “Wooow Ten you haven’t grown! You’re like still a midget!” you mock
• “Look at my baby, all grown up and still as witty as ever” he starts fake crying “I’m so proud of you”
• Rolling your eyes you stare at him and when he makes eye contact, you both burst into laughter.
• “Seriously it’s been forever since I’ve seen you Y/N! Come I’ll show you to your room”
• He shows you around his apartment and being honest, it’s way better than you expected. It’s so big, the living room is so flowy and there’s a massive sliding door that leads to a porch to the backyard where the sun is currently shining through.
• You started laughing when something caught your eye and Ten turned around “What?”
• You pick up an apple from a fruit basket he had on his benchtop “Since when?”
• He scoffs before saying “oh please, those are for you. I didn’t even buy them my friend did when he heard you were coming”
• Friend? “Someone I know?” You question while Ten starts walking off
• “Nope. Anyway here’s your room. Double bed if you ever wanna have company” and he shoots you a wink
• “Ten wtf we live together now!!” you whine, slapping his arm
• “That’s why I gave you the back room, it’s out of the way with your own bathroom and someone can leave without me ever seeing them!” he laughs at your reddened face “hey you’re in your last year of high school. Mom and Dad gave me the responsibility of seeing it through that you graduate and you and I both know I’m not gonna be strict on you”
• You sit down on the bed and glance up at your older brother
• “All I ask is that you study hard and take care of yourself. The rest is just basic stuff like dishes and shit but we can talk about that later. Oh and whenever I have company over, don’t be a bitch and cause trouble okay”
• You start laughing “yeah yeah I know”
• “Aaaaannndd… you’re coming to my underground battle tonight so get ready we’re leaving soon” he widens his smile at you before walking out and shutting the door
• You shake your head and quietly giggle.
• Getting ready for tonight, you throw a hoodie and some jeans on. Normally you’d be dressing to dance as well but since you had to meet your choreographers the next day, you didn’t want to risk getting injured.
• You and your brother arrived at the venue and you’re not surprised at how many people there are.
• Ten is actually a part of a very famous dance crew and he gets swarmed every time they show up to a battle
• Just like how he is now
• It’s like you don’t exist in the dance community when Ten’s around.
• Everyone is grabbing at your brother, some friends and some strangers just trying to get a photo or autograph or anything really
• You pull away from the crowd and stand at the back where you can finally breathe your own air.
• You glance around and realise you’re standing next to the bathrooms and there’s someone else there, who looks like he’s getting some air too. He’s just leaning his shoulder against the wall with his hoodie up, covering part of his face
• “Escaping the crowd too?” You ask and he looks over at you
• You find your eyes widening at the sight of him.
• He is no doubt the cutest guy you’ve ever seen. He’s got little cheeks that round out a bit (‘I bet if I touch those they’d be squishy’ you immediately thought) and small eyes that’s covered a little by his hair.
• He’s got a baby face but it seems like he’s around your age, judging by his height.
• “Something like that” he replies, stopping you from exploring his body. You don’t give a second thought at the sincerity in his voice that has you feeling warmer inside
• You just smile at each other and then there’s a siren that blasts through the air. Some announcer starts calling out the crews to battle each other and you hear Ten’s group in the mix. You smile and bow to the boy before leaving to the front of the crowd
• You get there and start to cheer on your brother and his group
• Ten never ceases to amaze you, the way his body moves, his fluidity plus his musicality. It’s no wonder he’s the leader of his crew.
• They beat all the crews they were up against in the knockout rounds and now it was time for the cypher.
• Your brothers group was against another group in the final so they formed a circle and your brother, being the leader, went in first. He showed out to what the DJ was playing and you thought
• ‘there’s no one in this place that stands a chance against Ten’.
• Now it’s the other teams turn and you’re taken aback once again by the cute boy you met outside the bathrooms
• He steps out and takes his hood off. His face is so serious, he looks nothing like how he looked before
• His hair’s peach colour with an undercut and the look in his eyes is something you haven’t seen before. It’s daring, but mysterious at the same time
• You can’t look anywhere else except his eyes
• He starts dancing to the music and you subconsciously begin smiling.
• No. It’s more like grinning
• Competition
• His whole facial expression and aura changed. It’s like he’s a whole nother person. He’s popping a lot and you can really tell he’s passionate about dance
• Wow. That was all you thought.
• He finishes with a pose where he’s just standing straight up with his arms folded and he’s staring at my brother and his team. The rest of his crew comes out and does the same pose, standing behind him forming a triangle
• It’s not a second before the guy turns his head a little to the left and he’s looking at you the same way he was looking at your brother, glancing at you through the corner of his eye
• Your eyes widen again before you fold your arms and smirk at him. ‘Cocky now, are we?’ You turn your back and walk away from the circle
• At the end of the cypher, Ten’s crew won the battle and advanced to first place for the next battle that would take place in a months time
• You congratulate your brother (along with all the rest of the randoms that threw in their ten cents worth) and you go home for takeout
• “If it wasn’t for Jisung, I would’ve wrapped up the whole thing, wouldn’t have even needed the cypher to go on for that long.” he huffed out, putting his feet up on the couch
• “Who? The young guy?”
• “Yes, Jisung!” he groaned out “If I was nearly as talented as that kid when I was his age I’d be travelling around the world right now”
• You grab your phone and start mindlessly scrolling through your feed before you smirk. ‘So THAT’S his name. Jisung’
