Marcella Alverez, personification of the state of Florida! Sometimes goes by Marcy, but ONLY when she's in the mood. Sometimes you call her that and get nothing but the worst glare in response.
Top 3 insane states.
is actually older than Alfred, and at very most considers him an annoying brother >:|
She was trusted with all the souths braincells and lost them and now the whole region is screwed
stage 4 terminal case of the Mondays, it's too late for her.
regularly gets put in charge of corralling the Southwest bc she not afraid to threaten Tex and Cali with violence
Also tho the entire Southwest calls her Tía Marcella, but ONLY when they want something. The rest of the states would never dare call her that.
She's a mom actually, her kids are Felix (Conch Republic) and Oliver (British West Florida); she rlly is a pretty good mom but is convinced she's not.
Is closer to Marcos (Puerto Rico) than any of the states.
Out of the states tho her and Louisiana got a fun relationship going; someone give them a buddy cop movie
If u piss Marcy off and PR shows up he's there for your protection, if you piss her off and Lou shows up fuckin' RUN
Doesn't actually drink that much, ppl think she does but it's all virgin stuff.
Prefers to speak Spanish over English, like legit gets sad if she goes too long without speaking Spanish. Once forgot a word in Spanish but could remember it in English and lost her whole sense of identity in .2 seconds.
Cries over Disney movies
just sobbing in the theater "we used to be best buddies,,, and now we're not,,,,"
lives in one of those Spanish style houses y'know that's stucco with the red tile roof.
Calls Jimmy Buffet her "guilty pleasure"
if u see a Florida woman headline it's her
that's all
im sorry Trin i'll stop piggy backing off u soon
i just get excited

I match you with; Yukimiya Kenyuu!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Vibes I get from this relationship - comforting and quiet but also playful.

I made it suggestive - Hope you don’t mind \(//∇//)\
“Why is this shit so hard to build.” Kenyu muttered clicking his tongue, turning the page around; attempting to build the coffee table while sweat rolled off his body, his hand wiping away a salty drop from his brow.
Closing the door behind you with an “I’m home!” You walked into the living room, faced with a familiar bare back, hands placed on his hips as he was stretching. Your eyes wandered, making note of every curve and dip, the light sheen of sweat being reflected by the sun.
Turning around Yukimiya gave you a charming smile, your eyebrows shooting up at the sight of his chiseled abs and well built pecs, a hammer and nail in his hand.
“You’re Home!” he chirped.
You stood silently, hands still holding the keys. Pinching his eyebrows together until realization struck him, a smirk taking over his features.
“Come closer. The real thing feels better than your imagination.”

Happy new year!! Can I have Kaoru, Haruhi, Mori and Tamaki with a s/o who loves Disney movies?? Please??
S/O Loves Disney Movies
FANDOM: Ouran High School Host Club
Character(s): Tamaki Suoh, Takashi Morinozuka, Haruhi Fujioka, Kaoru Hitachiin
Type of Request: Headcanons
Note(s): I gave myself a lot of nostalgia while writing this (especially with Tamaki's part). I need to watch the older Disney movies again.
Tumblr media
Haruhi
Haruhi definitely enjoyed Disney movies a lot when she was younger but she doesn't always have the money to watch the newest ones.
She will happily sit by you and watch the classics with you. Might not want to have marathons, but does enjoy seeing how happy you are while watching them.
I can see Haruhi going around the Host Club, humming something from a Disney movie without realizing. If someone brings it up then she just sighs and rolls her eyes with a smile as she says it's your fault.
When she has money left over she'll see if she can get you a stuffed animal of a Disney character. It'll probably be an older character since newer stuff is expensive. You end up with like five different types of Pooh Bear.
Kaoru
Has absolute done the Siamese thing from Lady and the Tramp. Does it to try and annoy the others honestly.
Kaoru probably also hasn't kept up with the newer movies but he'll be happy to cuddle next to you and watch them. I can see him as he type of person to make comments about the movie while watching though.
Absolutely will point at different characters in movies and relate them to others. If you watch Princess and the Frog with him then he's absolutely pointing at Charlotte and saying, "Look it's Tamaki."
Probably pretends that the movies don't affect him but I can see him getting teary eyed and crying with you.
Mori
Mori probably has a few Disney movies memorized by heart because he'd watch them all the time with Honey.
Honestly watching them with you is a lot more enjoyable. They're very cute movies and you're very cute too.
Might find it amusing if he's doing day-to-day activities and hears you from another room humming or singing some Disney songs. It is catchy music, he'll admit that.
Mori's favorite movie is probably Mulan or Beauty and the Beast (animated) tbh. He'll gladly spin you around like the ballroom scene.
Tamaki
Okay Tamaki loves Disney movies too. He'll happily announce Disney movie marathons for just the two of you or gets the whole host club involved.
Tamaki is a huge fan of all the animal movies. 101 Dalmatians and Oliver and Company are absolutely has favorites. Tamaki has had Antoinette lay on you two and watch the movies with you.
Tamaki absolutely learns a lot of songs from Disney movies on the piano. He'll gladly play them for you if you ever ask. After watching the AristoCats, he probably has tried to teach Antoinette piano.
Tamaki would go ham with Disney stuff for you too. Would get you all the art books and special disks. You end up with many stuffed animals or figures too. He ends up buying himself stuffed animals too but they end up as Antoinette's dog toys and he cries.

Masterlist
Jay walked down the long, dimly lit hallway and peeked into each girls' room. Because of the dim light in the hallway, there was no need to utilize the flashlight he carried with him and shin it on the floor of each room to make sure that each girl was there. He continued peeked in rooms to make sure that each girl appeared asleep. But then, he got to your room.
You were sitting on your bed, visibly shaking and covering your mouth with your hand so that your sobs wouldn't wake up the girls in the rooms next to you.
Jay quickly went to the last room and checked to make sure that all the other girls appeared asleep and then scribbled down on the piece of paper attached to his clipboard that all the girls appeared asleep...except for you.
He knocked softly on your door and you jumped. He gave a small wave and pointed inside your room, silently asking if he could come in. You didn't have much control in the girls' home you were in, so the staff was always trying to give you as much control as possible...even though you needed staff to wait outside the bathroom for you since there was a time limit, and needed them to unlock doors which were closed, since they automatically locked, hence all of your bedroom doors being propped open because staff needed to do bed checks and make sure you and the other girls were okay and where you were supposed to be.
You nodded, allowing Jay to enter your room.
"Can I turn this on?" he asked, pointing to the small lamp on your desk.
"Sure," you answered as you wiped the tears on your cheeks and drew your knees up to your chest, and then hugged them to your body.
Jay crouched in front of you. "What's wrong?" he asked. "We don't have to talk about it if you don't want to. We can just go out into the common area so you can calm down a bit and go back to sleep. Or the kitchen if you need a snack or water," he offered.
"Can I- Can I get some water?" you asked.
"Of course," Jay answered. "Do you want to come with me?"
You nodded and picked up your water bottle. You also grabbed your blanket. Jay was going to tell you to leave it on your bed, but seeing how distraught you were, he decided against it.
"You want ice?" he asked as the two of you walked to the kitchen. He unlocked the door and you followed him in.
"Yes, please," you told him and then handed him your water bottle.
"Okay, I can do that."
You stood in the kitchen area while Jay unlocked another door to get to the freezer. He propped the door open with the doorstop and then opened the freezer and put ice in your water bottle. Then he closed the freezer, kicked the doorstop away, and then walked out and closed the door behind him. Then, he grabbed you some water, screwed on the lid, handed it back to you, and the two of you left the kitchen.
"Can I stay out here for a while?" you asked quietly after you had taken a few sips of the cold water.
"You can. Just give me a minute to text Kim, okay?" he answered.
"Okay." You pulled out a chair at the table and sat down, tears still coming down your face, but a lot slower than earlier.
Seeing as there was only three staff at the home tonight and Jay had to do bed checks for his hallway, he had to text Kim to let him know that one, he was in the dining area with you because you were upset about something, and two ask her if she could do his section of bed checks until he got you to calm down and got you back in bed.
She answered quickly and said that she could do that and thanks for letting her know.
Jay put his phone away and turned his full attention to you.
"What's got you so upset?" he asked gently after he sat down next to you.
"I have a home visit tomorrow with Hailey. My first overnight one," you answered.
"Hey, that's a good thing! You're getting adopted soon!"
"But they always fall through!" you cried. "And what if I have a nightmare when I'm there?"
"Hey, hey," Jay soothed. "We'll pack your meds and you should be fine."
"But what if she doesn't want me after this home visit?"
"Y/N, I need you to listen to me." You looked at him. "Hailey's nervous too, but it's okay to be nervous because that means you're about to do something really, really brave."
"Really? She's nervous? But it's her house?"
"Mhm, it's not just you who's nervous. The adoptive parents are nervous, too because they want everything to go well just as much as you do."
You looked up at him nervously while pushing the straw of your water bottle back and forth. "Will you be there?" you asked.
He cocked his head to the side. "Will I be where?"
"At Hailey's," you stated simply.
"Why would I be there?"
"Jay, everyone knows you two are dating."
That was one thing about being a man who worked in a unit with a bunch of female coworkers and girls he had to take care of: the gossip was astronomical...even though the staff did try their best to keep it to a minimum.
"I mean, I won't dispute that fact," he began, "but I wasn't planning on being over at Hailey's tomorrow night."
"Please?" you asked. He had a confused look on his face. "Please will you stay at Hailey's tomorrow, too? You- you both make me feel safe and if something happens to either of you..."
"You want there to be another person you trust around?" he finished.
"Yes, please."
"Okay," Jay relented. "I'll talk to Hailey."
"Okay."
"Are you ready to go back to bed?" he asked.
You nodded and you went back to bed, hopeful that Jay would be at Hailey's tomorrow because then there would be two of the people you trusted most in the world. Jay was one of your favorite staff members...mostly because he rarely disciplined you and the other girls and was always approachable when you wanted to talk about anything that was going on in your head.
***
"I need to do a bag check," Kim said. You handed her your bag to check so that she could jot down what you brought with you to make sure you brought all your clothing, toiletries, and comfort items back from your overnight home visit with Hailey (and Jay).
Once she checked your bag, she handed it back to you and then turned to Hailey. "She's good to go once I get you her meds. Some need to be taken in the morning and some in the evening. Don't worry, I wrote evening and morning on the med envelopes so that you don't get them mixed up."
Hailey nodded and then Kim went to get your meds.
"You nervous?" Hailey asked you.
You looked down at your feet. "Did Jay tell you I was?"
"He didn't," Hailey said. "But, you wanna know a secret?" You nodded. "I'm a little nervous, too."
"Jay told me you were," you said.
"He's good at making people feel better, isn't he?"
"He is."
"He also mentioned that you wanted him there tonight? Do you want him to come out to dinner with us, too?" she asked.
"If that's okay with you."
"Totally fine!"
Kim came back and handed Hailey your envelopes of meds and then the two of you were off.
***
Dinner had come and gone. You went to Olive Garden where Jay met you and Hailey there. You had decided to get fettuccine alfredo and Jay and Hailey both said that you could eat as much salad and breadsticks as you wanted. They even let you get dessert!
You went back to Hailey's house and were shocked to see how nice your room was, and it was a lot bigger than the one at the home you lived at and the one Jay worked at. It was simple, but you loved it. It had a full-sized bed with a fluffy white comforter, a desk, a bookshelf  (which Hailey said that you guys could go to a bookstore tomorrow so that the bookshelf didn't look do empty), a dresser, and a closet. Hailey also said when you officially moved in in two weeks, you could go shopping for more decorations so that your room wasn't so undecorated...even though you were totally floored by it the way it was now.
Hailey made sure to give you your meds promptly at 8 pm. Then, you watched a movie, the three of you had decided to watch Tangled because Jay knew it was a good bet since it was PG and not PG-13 and if you had to choose your favorite Disney princess movie, that'd probably be it. And because some things in PG-13 movies could be triggering...for obvious reasons.
When the movie was almost done, your stomach started to hurt, but you just chalked it up to nerves because you knew you'd be sleeping soon...and that was always the worst part.
Luckily for you, Hailey had a boombox that she let you use for music. You didn't have a phone or mp3 player and at the home, everyone was given their own small radio when they came. As a peace offering of sorts from the staff to the girls. But, you forgot it for your home visit with Hailey.
"Goodnight," you said after you filled up your water bottle.
"Goodnight," both Hailey and Jay said. They said that you could wake them up any time if you needed absolutely anything. But, you hoped you wouldn't need to.
You fell into a fitful sleep, tossing and turning in both anxiousness and from the pain in your stomach. God, maybe that pasta, all those breadsticks, and dessert hadn't been as great of an idea as you had previously thought.
***
Okay, so all that food most definitely was not a great idea. Soft groans were coming out of your mouth as you tried to get comfortable and move your body around so that you didn't feel the pain in your stomach anymore.
You needed to go to the bathroom and you needed it now, so you needed to hurry so that Jay could wait outside the bathroom for you since you needed to let him know where you were going and would only get a certain amount of time in the bathroom.
You grabbed your water and slowly walked so that you didn't irritate your stomach even more. There was a lamp on in the living room, which showed you that Jay was asleep on the couch.
You padded over to the couch. "Jay,"  you whispered.
"Hmm?" Jay asked and rubbed his eyes.
"Can you come with me to the bathroom, please?"
He sat up. "Oh, Y/N, you're at home you don't have to ask."
"Oh, sorry," you quickly apologized. "Sorry for waking you up." You were so used to having someone have to accompany you to the bathroom or unlock certain doors for you, that it was going to take you a while to break that habit...especially when you were tired and not feeling so hot while also being in a new place.
"It's no big deal. I slept out here in case you needed anything anyways. It's what I'm here for."
Your stomach made a noise and then you felt bile rise in your throat. You stiffened.
Jay heard your stomach and noticed your drastic change in posture. "Y/N, what's--"
You covered your mouth and took off running toward the bathroom that was across from your bedroom.
"Shit," Jay muttered and followed you, but a lot slower.
Once you got to the bathroom, you threw the lid of the toilet open and threw yourself to your knees, just in time to empty your stomach.
Jay crouched down next to you. "I'm gonna hold your hair back, okay?"
"Uh huh," you croaked. You knew that if you didn't say yes, Jay wouldn't have held your hair back. In his job, he was trained to go along with the girls' boundaries and to not touch them unless he verbally asked them and got verbal confirmation from you girls that that said physical contact was okay.
Jay gently held your hair back while you continued to retch and spill the contents of your stomach.
"There you go," he soothed. "I'm right here. You're not alone."
When you thought you were done, you reached up and flushed the toilet. "Thank you."
"You're welcome. I'm gonna go wake up Hailey just to tell her what's going on. Feel free to get some water or brush your teeth."
You nodded and he left the bathroom. When you picked up your toothbrush, you realized what had just happened: someone had just comforted you when you were sick. That never happened before.
A tear rolled down your cheek just as Jay came back into the bathroom with Hailey.
"Oh, Y/N," she started as she walked up to you. "How bad does it hurt?"
"No, it doesn't hurt now," you said. "I just, I never had anyone comfort me or hold my hair back when I was sick before."
"Oh, honey," Hailey said as her heart broke. Then, she caught herself. "Is that one fine?" she asked, referring to pet names. She didn't want to trigger you.
"Th-That ones fine," you answered.
"Can I give you a hug?"
"Yeah," you whispered and opened your arms so that you could hug her.
"You're feeling a lot better?" Jay asked and you looked up from hugging Hailey and nodded. "So, no doctor?"
You abruptly pulled away from Hailey and backed away from both the adults. "No, no doctor. Please no doctor. Please," you pleaded.
Jay furrowed his eyebrows in confusion, but Hailey's eyes widened as she realized what he had just said.
"Honey, no, we are not taking you to the doctor, okay?" Hailey began. "We know you're feeling better, but we're just going to give you some Tums in case your stomach starts to hurt again."
"So no doctor?" you asked.
"No doctor," she confirmed.
"Thank you. I think I'm gonna brush my teeth now. My mouth tastes gross."
"Okay. Come out whenever you're ready."
Hailey reached for Jay's hand and led him out of the bathroom. He still had a look of confusion on his face while she grabbed two Tums and set them next to a cup of water for you.
"What does she mean no doctor?" Jay asked in a hushed voice.
"You know she was trafficked by her own parents, right?" Jay nodded, he had to read all the girls files when they got new girls in, but some information was left out because it could still be in the court process, or because it had something to do with family where a parent still had legal custody of the girl or for other reasons. Hailey's voice got even quieter. "A doctor was one who would you know...pay for services, um, regularly."
"So now she doesn't think she can trust any doctor," Jay finished.
"Yeah. She told me a few weeks ago. I think I'm the only one who knows that her doctor had been one of the people assaulting her."
"Now it makes sense that she had to be restrained when we told her she had to go to the doctor's for a check-up three months ago. We all just thought that she didn't want to go, but she was just really scared."
"She was a danger to herself and others," Hailey said. "You did the right thing by using restraints, even if you didn't know the reason she was acting out."
"Still, I wish I would've known. That way maybe we could've eased into talking about it more instead of just telling her she'd be going. And, she actually might've gone to the check-up if we did it that way."
"There was no way you could've known."
"I know, still makes me feel bad." He took a deep, shaky breath. "God, we take it for granted so much that we'll have at least one parent there for us, to hold our hair back and comfort us when we're sick. But, Y/N didn't have anyone, Hailey."
A few tears ran down Jay's face.
"I know," Hailey said and pulled him into a hug. "I know. But, this is what we do. In our jobs, we help these girls. We do this because we want to make the world a better and safer place for these girls, to help break the cycle. Lord knows we don't do it for the money. And, soon we'll be helping her even more. Together. Here. At home."
"You're excited for when the adoption goes through, aren't you, Hails?" Jay asked.
"Yeah, I never wanted kids because, well you know my  past history with my parents, but working with kids in social work and seeing how many of them go through multiple foster homes and other types of homes and then just age out..."
"I know, I know," Jay sympathized. "We talked about this. And you felt drawn to Y/N. I'll be there through it all with you."
"Thank you. I love you, Jay."
"I love you, too, Hails."
You sighed and then made your way into the kitchen. You didn't want to be in trouble.
"Are these the medicine?" you asked, pointing to the table where the Tums and the cup of water were.
"Yes," Hailey answered. "They're dissolvable, but I didn't know how you would like the taste, so I put the water there just in case."
Jay looked at you closely. "Hey, are you okay? Is your stomach hurting again?"
You shook your head and sat down and then took the two tablets and drank a few sips of water after.
"Just ti- tired," your voice cracked halfway through the word, immediately alerting both Jay and Hailey that something was wrong.
Jay crouched down in front of you and Hailey sat down across from you as you let out a wail.
"You're mad, you're mad, you're mad!" you bawled.
"Neither of us is mad," Hailey told you softly.
"Jay's mad! I woke him up!"
"I'm not mad, Y/N, not one bit. You're allowed to wake me and Hailey up whenever you need us or even if you just want some comfort, okay?" Jay asked as his heart broke.
"Who told you that they were mad when you woke them up?" Hailey asked gently. With her job, she knew she needed to ask some tough questions in general, but, specifically with you, she also needed to get more of your history than she already had so that she knew what your triggers were and how to help you with coping skills and other things that were beneficial to your mental health when you moved in with her.
"My parents and my first foster parents," you whispered.
"Okay," Hailey started, "I'm sorry that happened to you. We're sorry that happened to you. And we can promise you that neither of us will hit you or raise our voices at you."
At the mention of you having been hit in your past, Jay looked up at Hailey and she gave him a subtle nod, silently telling you that that had been a part of your past. He knew your parents were unfit because both their parental rights had been terminated, but he didn't know details...and now he was receiving those heartbreaking details from his girlfriend, who you seemed to open up to more than anyone else. Well, more than anyone besides the in-house therapist.
"You promise?" you asked, finally looking up from where you had your eyes trained on the table.
"I promise," said Hailey.
"You have my word," Jay echoed. He paused a few moments to let those promises sink in. "Now, if Hailey's okay with it, I say we watch another movie until you get tired. What do you say, Hails?"
"I think we can make an exception," she agreed.
"Okay, what movie?" Jay asked.
"Can we watch the Jumanji remake?" you asked. "The one with the Rock. I know it's PG-13, but it doesn't seem that bad."
Jay nodded. "Well, if anything triggers you, you just need to tell either me or Hailey so we can help you process it right away, okay?" You nodded. He looked at Hailey. "You good with Jumanji?" he asked with a humorous glint in his eye because he already knew the answer: his girl loved any movie that The Rock was in.
"Jay, you know I love The Rock. You wanna get it set up while I grab Y/N's pillow from her room?"
Jay said okay and the two of you made your way to the living room. Jay moved his pillow over so that he and Hailey could sit on the couch, while you sat on the smaller couch across from them.
Hailey came back with your pillow and a few blankets and you got all set up.
Not even halfway through the movie, you were asleep once again. But this time, your stomach ache was gone and you felt safer and more comfortable than when you had first walked into Hailey's house earlier that day.
***
"Quiet, Hails, she's still out," Jay whispered to his girlfriend as they walked out of their bedroom the next morning.
You were knocked out on the couch after getting sick and anxious last night. And Jay had decided just to go sleep with Hailey last night after everything that had happened because they were both emotionally drained and needed the other's comfort to go to sleep after Hailey had told Jay a part of your story that he hadn't known.
"What does she normally eat for breakfast?" Hailey whispered.
Jay worked a mix of first, second, and third shifts at the home, so he knew what you'd normally eat for breakfast and that after school you needed some time to recharge in your room after being with other kids all day.
"Normally bagels and cream cheese. Sometimes a banana too," Jay whispered back.
"Perfect. I don't have to cook a ton. Want me to start on coffee and then we can just drink it at the table and wait until she wakes up?"
"Sounds good to me. Don't forget her morning meds."
"I know, Jay."
"Just checking."
***
You woke up to see Jay and Hailey sitting at the table drinking something out of mugs, which you assumed was coffee.
You stretched and then got up off the couch. You remembered watching another movie last night, but don't remember finishing it, so you must've fallen asleep there and Jay and Hailey just decided to let you sleep instead of waking you up.
"Good morning," you said as you got up off the couch. "What time is it?"
Jay craned his neck to look at the clock on the oven. "8:45," he answered. "Time for your morning meds, too."
He started to stand up, but Hailey stopped him. "I got it. I need to make sure I have this down, so do you just want to cut up a bagel and pop it in the toaster? There should be chocolate chip ones in the fridge," Hailey told Jay.
"You have chocolate chip bagels?" You asked as a smile broke out on your face. "We don't have chocolate chip ones at the house."
"And, I have regular cream cheese and strawberry cream cheese, so take your pick." She paused. "Your stomach's feeling better though, right? I don't know if I want you eating this stuff if you're just gonna get sick again."
"It's not hurting anymore. I think I just ate too much," you answered. "But if you want me to eat something else—"
"Oh no," Hailey quickly cut you off. "You can eat whatever you want."
Hailey walked over to get the meds ready and Jay cut a chocolate chip bagel in half and popped it in the toaster.
"Hails, you want one?" Jay asked.
"That'd be great. Thanks, ba- Jay." She almost called him babe but didn't know if that would trigger you, so she immediately cut herself off.
"Are you gonna have one, too, Jay?" you asked.
"No, I think I'm gonna make myself some eggs," he answered you while he cut a chocolate chip bagel in half for Hailey.
"He's such a health nut," Hailey laughed as she rolled her eyes. Then, she made her way to the table and handed you a cup with your meds in it and a cup of water. You quickly took the meds and washed all of them down with the water.
"We know," you laughed as you handed the med cup back to Hailey. "He always brings his own meals to the house. And they're always salads or something else really healthy." You wrinkled your nose.
"I know, he's weird," Hailey agreed.
Then, Jay told you that your bagel was done, so you walked over to the counter and used a plastic knife to spread some strawberry cream cheese on it.
Jay's phone buzzed and he groaned. "My brother wants to meet up for lunch today."
"Well, if Y/N's comfortable with it, maybe he'd like to meet us at the bookstore and then we can all go to lunch or just meet us for lunch?" Hailey suggested.
"You're letting me decide?" You had never had this much control over anything in your life.
"Of course," Hailey began, "we want you to be comfortable with whatever you're doing."
You turned to Jay, whose attention was still on you and Hailey while he scrambled his eggs in a pan over the stove. "Is he nice?"
"Oh yeah," Jay said. "He's super nice. His name's Will and I'll even tell him to be on his very best behavior."
"Okay. Can we just have him meet us for lunch?"
"Of course," Jay agreed. "I'll shoot him a text."
***
"What kind of books do you like?" Hailey asked.
You looked up at Jay. "You didn't tell her that?"
"Nope. Some stuff I can keep a secret," he answered with a wink.
Hailey smacked him on the chest. "Jay Halstead. You are the absolute worst."
"But you love me. And you know it." Jay gave her a kiss on the cheek and you burst out laughing. "What?"
"You two. You're just so cute."
"Hear that, Hails? Y/N thinks we're a cute couple."
"Oh, quit your bragging," Hailey said and rolled her eyes. "Anyway, what's your favorite genre?"
"Uh, I really like historical fiction," you answered.
"Alright," Jay started, "towards the historical fiction we go."
"Oh, and if we go to that section, we pass their little cafe," Hailey told you. "You up for a hot chocolate or pastry?" she asked.
"You don't have to get me anything," you said quietly. "You're already getting me books."
"You know what Hails?" Jay said. "I could go for another cup of coffee and then we could drink it while we're walking around."
"That sounds like a great idea. Two coffees and then whatever drink Y/N wants."
"Okay," you relented. "But you guys don't have to keep spending money on me. I don't need much."
"Y/N, look at me," Hailey began and you looked at her, "when I decided I wanted to adopt a kid, I knew I was going to spoil them. And, it just so happened to be you. I know you're scared because everyone's left you, but me and Jay, we're in it for the long haul. You can trust us. Let us spoil you, okay?"
Tears made their way to your eyes. "Okay. Can I- Can I hug you?"
Hailey nodded. "Of course."
And as you hugged Hailey, Jay smiled because that was the first time you had asked for a hug. Before, most people had to ask you, but this time you were asking them and Jay considered that huge progress from when he first met you months and months ago.
***
You sat down next to Hailey at the little diner you decided on for lunch. Jay texted Will and told them they had gotten a table, and he said he'd be there in a few minutes.
You ordered your drinks and then a tall man with red hair and a navy blue jacket with a hospital logo on it walked towards your table. Your breath hitched.
"Hey, it's okay. That's just Will," Hailey explained.
"But- But his jacket says medical on it," you said and clenched your fists and dug your nails into the palms of your hands.
Will sat down.
"Y/N, this is Will, he's my older brother. And, he's also a doctor. But, he's a good one, I promise!" Jay told you quickly.
You swallowed as tears pricked your eyes.
"Y/N," Hailey began gently, "me and Jay wouldn't let you meet him if we didn't think he was 110% safe to be around. I promise you that Will's a good guy."
You looked up at Will to see that he had a goofy smile on his face. "Hey, kiddo."
"H-Hi," you replied quietly.
"So, Jay told me you like historical fiction and that you got hot chocolate. Did you like the hot chocolate? And what's your favorite time period to read about?"
You started talking to Will and you thought that this doctor wasn't so bad...but there was still no way in hell you'd be going to see a doctor for any kind of medical treatment any time soon.
***
Two weeks later
You grabbed all your bags and made your way out to Hailey's car. Then, you turned around and looked at the place you had called home for the past few months. Even though sometimes it didn't feel like home, you knew you were safe there, and with your past, that was what made this place a home in and of itself. You just hoped that Hailey's (and Jay's) place would be as safe as the first night you were there.
Jay was over for dinner and even though he wasn't on the official adoption papers, he went through the same extensive background checks and trainings as Hailey just because she said that he'd be over a lot.
That night, you were asleep. But, somewhere in your sleep-addled brain, you were dreaming. And it wasn't a good dream. It was a dream about your terrible parents and that terrible doctor.
"I don't give a damn!" Jay yelled. He had gone outside to take a phone call from his dad because he didn't want to wake you. But, seeing as you were a light sleeper, those words entered your nightmare.
You whimpered and tried to dodge the slap that came your way in your dream.
Jay quickly hung up the phone when he heard a thud come from inside the house and ran back inside.
You were laying on the floor and had landed with your arm in an awkward position.
You heard the thundering of footsteps coming towards your room.
Shit, you were going to be in trouble for waking Hailey and Jay up.
You scrambled back into bed and took a sip of your water to calm yourself down. But damn, your arm felt like someone had twisted it and stepped on it...much like it had felt three years ago when your dad yanked you back by the arm and twisted it behind you when you tried to run away from that doctor.
Jay slowly opened the door to see you sitting up in bed drinking some water. "Hey," he greeted. "You okay? I thought I heard a thud."
"Uh, I just dropped my water bottle," you told him, trying to hold back tears at how much your arm hurt. "Sorry if I woke you and Hailey up."
"Oh no, I was talking with my dad on the phone," he told you quickly. "You didn't wake us up. Goodnight."
"'Night, Jay."
The minute he walked out of your room, you turned on your side to face the wall and cried until you finally cried yourself to sleep because of the pain.
***
The next day, you tried your best to eat normally and not make a face at how much your arm hurt. But, best believe that when you went to the bathroom or went to change your clothes alone in your room, you cried silently to yourself.
"Hey, it's pretty nice out," Hailey stated when you walked out of your room dressed in jeans and a t-shirt after you had eaten breakfast, washed your face, and brushed your teeth. "Jay suggested a picnic and some baseball at the park nearby. Do you want to do that?"
"That sounds really nice," you said. But, you weren't looking forward to the baseball because you knew that it'd made your arm hurt. But, you didn't want to go to the doctor's either, and the lesser of two evils would be playing baseball with your arm hurting at a level ten.
"Okay, then it's settled. Ham or turkey on your sandwich for the picnic?" Jay asked.
"Ham please," you answered.
***
You played some baseball and gritted through the pain of pitching, catching, and batting and now it was time for lunch.
The three of you were sitting on a picnic blanket on the grassy area outside the baseball diamond. You took the sandwich out of the baggie and Hailey's eyebrows furrowed as she saw the bruising on the inside part of your forearm.
"Y/N, are you okay?" she asked.
"Yeah, why wouldn't I be?" you asked.
"I just see a bruise on your arm. Did you fall earlier when I was running to get a ball and didn't see it?"
"No. I uh, I must've just slept in a weird position last night," you told her. You knew that was a terrible excuse, but that was the only one you had at the moment.
"Okay, well we have ibuprofen at home and we can ice it there, too."
"Okay, thank you." You took another bite of your sandwich.
***
You finished your picnic and then made your way to Jay's truck. You reached up and grabbed the bar to pull yourself up into the truck easier, but cried out when you pulled.
Jay dropped the picnic basket.
"Y/N!" he yelled and ran up to one side of you and Hailey ran up to the other.
You cradled your right arm in your left hand. "It- It's nothing," you said quickly. "I think I just pulled a muscle or something."
"Honey, can I take a look?" Hailey asked.
"I- I don't want to go to the doctor's! Please don't make me go! Please!" you cried.
"Honey, I'm just going to look at it. Then we'll see if we need to go. And, we can always call Jay's brother, Will, and make sure he's the one who treats you. But we don't even know if you need to go to the doctor yet, so please, just let me see your arm."
You reluctantly held your arm out to her. Jay looked, too.
"I think we need to take her in, Hails," Jay said.
You ripped your arm away from Hailey, causing you to scream out in pain. "No! I'm fine!"
"Y/N, you are not fine," Jay said. "Please just let us take you to the doctor's."
"No!" you yelled again.
"Can you tell me why?" Jay asked, employing a tactic he used in the home when girls didn't want to do things. "Maybe make me understand why?"
"He hurt me there!" you yelled. "Every time I went to the doctor, he gave my dad free visits to look at me in exchange for- for--" you wailed and crashed into Hailey's arms.
You gripped her t-shirt tightly with your good hand while you bawled your eyes out.
"Shh, shh, it's okay. It's okay. He's not here. He's in prison. He can't physically hurt you out here, Y/N. And, if we go to the doctor, we'll make sure that it's Will who treats you and we'll be there the whole time," Hailey soothed.
You sniffled and then looked up at her. "You promise you'll be there the entire time?"
"I promise," Hailey confirmed.
You looked at Jay. "You too?"
"You have my word," he agreed.
***
Jay called Will and told him that the three of you would be coming into Chicago Med to look at your arm because he and Hailey thought that you broke it and that they needed Will to treat you because you didn't trust anybody else.
When you walked into the hospital, tears pricked your eyes and you grabbed Hailey's hand with your good one.
"I- I changed my mind," you said quickly. "I don't want to go to the doctor. It'll heal by itself like the other one."
Hailey didn't know what "other one" you were talking about, but she let that part of the sentence go.
"Y/N, honey, we need to make sure you're safe and healthy. And getting you treatment for a broken bone is part of that." She looked at Jay, silently asking him for some help.
"We'll be right there the entire time," Jay promised once again.
"But- But what if you have to leave? I don't wanna be alone in there! I don't!" you cried.
"And you won't. We'll both be there. And if one of us has to leave for whatever reason, then the other will stay. You can trust us. I know it's hard, but I promise you Y/N—me and Hailey both promise you—that you can trust us. We wouldn't have these jobs if you couldn't trust us."
Jay looked up when he heard someone clear their throat. He saw Will standing there.
When you saw Will, this time in hospital scrubs instead of jeans, a t-shirt, and his Chicago Med sweatshirt, you gripped Hailey's hand even tighter.
"Hey, Y/N," Will greeted. "Jay told me you're having problems with your arm? I bet it hurts really bad."
"No, I'm fine," you argued.
"Okay, well..." he paused and moved a hand from behind his back, which was holding a bowl that contained an ice cream sandwich. It was chocolate ice cream squished between two chocolate chip cookies. "I have this ice cream sandwich here for you. Why don't you eat this with your good arm while I take a look at the other one?"
You shyly nodded and let go of Hailey's hand and took the bowl from Will's outstretched hand. "Thank you," you said quietly.
"You're welcome. Now right this way, please."
Will let you into a treatment room and Hailey helped you up on the bed.
"Alright, so Y/N, this is April," Will said as he introduced the nurse who walked in. "She'll be helping me out and taking your vitals."
April would've made a joke about how she'd be doing all the work, but seeing how nervous you were, she didn't."
"But you- you said that Will would be treating me. You promised!" you yelled and looked at Hailey and Jay.
"Y/N, all April's doing is helping Will out. Doctors need help, too," Hailey reassured.
"I'll be really gentle. Okay, sweetie?" April said.
You shoved yourself back into the bed, almost whacking your head on the wall.
"No! No! Don't hurt me! Please, don't!" you yelled.
All four of the adults in the room shared a look.
Hailey cursed. "It was the pet name," she figured out quickly. "One of them must've called her that before."
She knelt down next to the hospital bed, where you were visibly shaking.
"Y/N, I need you to take a few deep breaths with me. In and out," Hailey said.
"I can't! I can't!" you wailed.
"Yes, you can. Just like this." Hailey breathed in and out deeply.
"We can always administer medication if needed," Will suggested.
"Yeah, no," Jay said quickly. "You won't be doing that."
He pulled your emergency inhaler for times like these out of his pocket and pulled it out of the small box. Then he uncapped it and handed it to Hailey.
Once you took two more deep breaths, she held it up to you. "Can you take three puffs for me, Y/N? Just three puffs," she said.
You nodded and put the inhaler to your lips, allowing Hailey to push down on the button, which resulted in you getting some much-needed oxygen into your lungs.
"Better?" Hailey asked when you handed it back to her.
You nodded. "Thanks for having it, Jay."
"You're welcome." He put the inhaler back in the box and then back into his pocket.
Will pulled up a stool and sat on it. Hailey was still right in front of you, but Will was next to her and looking directly at you.
"Y/N, what April's gonna do is just listen to your heart and lungs with a stethoscope just like I have." He touched the stethoscope that was dangling from around his neck. "And then she's going to take your blood pressure by wrapping that around your good arm and squeezing the red thing." He pointed to the blood pressure cuff that was hanging in the room. "And then, I'll take a look at your arm. While she does that, I'll go grab you another ice cream sandwich because I'm pretty sure the other one is melted. Does that sound okay?"
You nodded, thankful that Will was explaining everything to you.
***
Fifteen minutes later, Will was back with your ice cream sandwich. He apologized for taking so long and said he had to argue with a cafeteria worker to make sure he got chocolate ice cream and not vanilla ice cream on it. But, he got it, so that's all that mattered.
He handed you the bowl and you took the ice cream sandwich out with your good hand and took a bite.
"How is it?" Will asked with a smile.
"It's really, really good. Thank you," you answered and took another bite.
"Good. Now, can you try and hold your arm out me?"
You hissed as you straightened your arm to hold it out to him.
"No, no," Will said quickly. "If it hurts to straighten all the way, don't do it." You nodded. "I'm just going to hold your arm with one of my hands and feel around it. Tell me where the most pain is. Do you want some pain medication?"
"No, no needles," you said. "Last time it made me sleep and then I couldn't feel my body."
If Will wasn't working he would've froze because he knew what you were talking about. Jay did, too, and Hailey squeezed his hand to silently tell him to stay calm.
That doctor who had previously assaulted you had drugged you with Rohypnol.
"We can give it to you in pill form," Will suggested. "Is that okay?" You nodded and Will turned to Jay. "What medications is she on?"
Jay rattled off the list of medications and then Will said something to April and then she handed you three pills and a cup of water. You took them.
"They should start to work in fifteen minutes," April told you.
You nodded and then yelped when Will gently pressed down on the inside of your forearm. "Right there?" he asked.
"Mhm," you gritted out as tears came to your eyes again.
"Well, the good news is, we're gonna get an x-ray and you won't have to have me push on your arm anymore," Will told you. You nodded. "Can you tell me how this happened?"
You looked up at Jay. "I'm sorry I didn't tell you." Jay furrowed his eyebrows. "I fell out of bed because of a- because of a nightmare. I told you it was my water bottle. I'm sorry!"
"Hey, hey, it's okay," Jay soothed quickly. "But can I ask why you didn't want to tell me?"
"I didn't want to see a doctor. And I thought you'd be mad and bring me back to the home."
"Oh, honey," Hailey interjected. "We'd never do that. You're my kid forever now."
"Yours, too?" you asked looking at Jay once more.
"You're not mine on paper, but I promise you that I'll keep you safe," he answered.
"But can I be your kid? Eventually?" You asked.
Hailey put her arm around Jay's waist. "You know what, babe? I think getting you to adopt her, too would be great. What do you say?"
"I'd love nothing more," he said with a huge grin on his face.
"Hate to break up this little moment," Will began, "but we gotta get her down for x-rays. Based on where it is, I think she broke her ulna."
April stepped forward. "If you'd follow me, that'd be great."
You looked at Hailey and Jay. "Will you guys come, too?"
Jay looked at his older brother, who gave him and Hailey a slight nod.
"Of course we will, honey," Hailey said.
"Because you said you'd be with me the entire time and because you said you'd keep me safe?" you asked as Hailey helped you down.
"Precisely, kiddo, precisely," Jay said.
And for the first time in your fifteen years of life, you finally found a home that you felt safe in, all thanks to Hailey and Jay.
A/N: Again, I changed a bit of this because some people were a bit confused and, I figured if I modeled the home after Brady, you guys would have a better time imagining it. ________
Alex had just finished setting up his camera. Today he was planning to film a video with his lovely girlfriend, Y/n. He and Y/n had talked about filming a video together for quite a bit of time, Y/n had even said that this weekend would work great for her. But here he was now, waiting for a text back from her. Alex had originally texted Y/n around an hour ago, simply saying, 'Hey, wanna film today? Then afterward we could possibly get lunch and see a movie.' Alex had started to worry, usually Y/n would respond quickly, but here he was now stuck on delivered. Was she mad at him? Did he upset her in some way? A noise from Alex's phone went off, meaning someone had texted him. Please be Y/n, please be Y/n, please be Y/n. 'Hey Al, I know I said this weekend was going to be a good time to make a video but I'm gonna have to bail. I'm sorry, babe.' Alex let out a soft sigh, he was excited to film with her. 'It's alright, n/n. I love you.' 'Love you too.' Alex was in the living room, watching an episode of Breaking Bad. He was nervous. Was Y/n blowing him off because she didn't want to see him? Was she losing interest? Was she going yo see another guy today? "Are you alright, Alex?" The Gucci wearing brunette looked over to see his flatmate George, who had just walked into the room. "I'm fine, George." "Really? Because you're biting your nails," George raised a brow at him. "I'm worried Y/n's losing interest in me," Alex let out a breath as he grabbed the TV remote, putting the show on mute. "Are you joking? Y/n's head over heels in love with you, she literally adores you," George let out a scoff. "I asked her if she wanted to film today because she said she'd be free this weekend and she said she couldn't. Maybe she decided to cancel to meet up with someone else?" Alex brushed a hand through his brown locks. "Listen, if you're so worried about Y/n why don't you go over to her flat and go check up on her?" George offered up the idea as he picked the TV remote up. "Good idea," Alex stood up from the couch. "I know I have good ideas," George let out a soft chuckle as he plopped down on the couch.
Y/n was excited to film with Alex, she had gotten up early and quickly started getting ready. She pulled out an olive green shirt along with a pair of black shorts and placed them neatly on her bed. As Y/n waited in her restroom for the water to heat up in her shower, a sore feeling came to her stomach. "Maybe I'm just hungry," she mumbled to herself as she stepped into the shower. The feeling of the warm water was welcoming, soothing. The warmth calmed her stomach, the feeling of soreness disappearing. Halfway through the shower, Y/n noticed something. Red was running down her leg. 'Oh god, it makes sense now,' Y/n thought to herself. Once her time in the shower had ended, Y/n changed into a pair of sweats and one of Alex's Internet Sensation shirts. "I really don't want to go out today," Y/n mumbled, sitting down on her couch. "But I told Alex we could film this weekend." She let out a sigh, grabbing onto a throw pillow, cuddling it. "If I film with Alex and I PMS I'll probably annoy him." She let out a soft sigh, "I gotta cancel. I don't want to ruin his day." Throughout the day, Y/n had many mood swings. She had gone to get a bowl of cereal, only to find that there wasn't any left. She got angry and ended up stubbing her toe on the island of her table, only to lead her to cry from the pain. Cramps weren't too fun either. Y/n was bundled up on her couch, a Disney movie was playing on the TV. She felt completely miserable for multiple reasons. But the number one reason she felt bad was that she canceled on her boyfriend. In the middle of the dinner scene of Lady And The Tramp, Y/n's front door had opened. Her eyes darted to the door from the TV. "Hey, n/n?" Y/n's lovely boyfriend had stepped through the door, pulling his set of keys out of the lock on her door. "Alex? What are you doing here?" "I came to check up on you," he gave a small smile as he approached the girl. "You had me worried." "Oh, no," Y/n mumbled, biting her lip. "I'm really sorry, Alex. I didn't mean to make you nervous." "It's alright," he replied, sitting next to the h/c girl. "Can I ask why you canceled? Are you throwing a Disney marathon without me?" Y/n quickly wrapped her arms around Alex, "I'm sorry, Alex. I've been PMSing and I didn't want to annoy you today." Hearing what Y/n had to say tugged at Alex's heartstrings. Y/n was a true sweetheart. "Oh, Y/n," Alex let out a sigh as he began to brush a few fingers through her hair. "You could never annoy me." Suddenly, Alex felt a dampness on his hoodie. Was Y/n crying? He looked down at his girlfriend to see her eyes were shut as tears left her eyes. "Why are you crying, beautiful?" Alex muttered sweetly, leaning back on the couch. "Because you're literally the most amazing boyfriend ever and so patient and loving. I have no clue how I got so lucky with you," Y/n spoke, trying to hold back a sob. Alex let out a small chuckle, "Trust me, I'm the lucky one in this relationship." Y/n sat up with a small gasp. "What's wrong now?" Alex raised a brow. "I ruined one of your hoodies," Y/n mumbled, her eyes staring straight at the wet spot of tears where she had been crying. It wasn't as bad as Y/n was making it out to be. It was just a bit of water on his pink Gucci hoodie. "It's fine, Y/n," Alex let out another chuckle, he casually pulled his pink hoodie off, tossing it into the chair next to the couch the couple was sitting on. "I have more Gucci and I'd much rather comfort you and ruin a stupid item of clothing them let you feel sad." "I love you, Alex," Y/n cracked a small smile at her boyfriend as she wrapped her arms around his neck. "I love you too, Y/n," Alex placed a gentle kiss on Y/n's lips, which she happily received. "Can I stay and have a Disney marathon with you? Maybe I can order some food?" "Omgosh, I would love if we did that," Y/n gave a small gasp. "Are we  gonna keep watching Lady And The Tramp or do you want to start something new?" Alex asked, wrapping an arm around Y/n's shoulders as she leaned her head against his chest. "I'm up for anything," Y/n replied. "Also, thank you Alex." "For?" He glanced down at her. "For being such a good boyfriend," she replied, giving a kiss to Alex. "Of course, beautiful."

Dreaming While I Wake
Sanders Sides Foster Care AU - Roman-centric Angst & Hurt/Comfort & Abuse Recovery
Roman tries to be upbeat and hopeful despite all the shit that’s happened to him. And a lot of shit has. Luckily, his new foster home is with two literal rays of sunshine (and a sarcastic asshole).
Words: 3,461 Triggers: spoilers in warnings Characters: Roman, Thomas, Virgil, Patton Universe: Dreaming While I Wake Genre: Regular Angst
Chapter 15 (Check end notes for trigger warnings)
chapter 1 for new readers - ffn mirror
Roman numbly leaned against Thomas on the couch, buried under the throw from his bed as they watched Oliver & Company. He had cried himself out and he felt like he had nothing left in him. The bandages Thomas put on his arms to cover the cuts he gave himself were kind of itchy, and that was frustrating. But Thomas got a panicked look if he tried to scratch, and he just couldn’t do anything else to hurt Thomas any further. How could anybody fuck up as much as Roman and still get offered forgiveness? He was always taught some things couldn’t be forgiven. This really felt like this should be one of them. Roman caused so much trouble. But they were all quietly watching a movie. They should lock Roman in his closet or something, not leaning against Thomas and watching Virgil sometimes sign insults at the movie. If Patton weren’t still at work, he’d probably be on the other side of Roman with his arm around him. They were just so freaking nice.
Roman realized his eyes had drifted off the screen again, and he was staring at the floor. He brought his eyes back up and tried again. He really wanted to watch it and have a pleasant time with them, even if he thought he deserved to sleep on the patio or whatever. He liked this movie. He wanted to want to watch it. He wanted to pay attention to the movie. But he just felt off and wrong and exhausted and he couldn’t focus on the screen. He loved this movie. He thought it was brilliant at tugging your emotions. The intro always made him cry when he was younger, but not today. Roman cried enough for like 2 years or something. That was another thing he knew he wasn’t supposed to do that Thomas didn’t care about. Roman just couldn’t wrap his head around it. But his brain was also just so tired, so he shouldn’t expect much.
There was a part of him that just longed to go back to bed, even though he knew he couldn’t sleep. A movie was a good enough compromise. It was the same amount of activity as laying in bed with none of the sleep. At least the music was pleasant and there were pretty colours. Roman glanced over to Virgil sitting on the couch arm. Roman was surprised that Virgil was interested in joining. He reads books about institutionalized murder but wants to watch a movie about an orphaned cat who finds a family and a home? Virgil really didn’t seem like the Disney type. For one, he seemed to have dark humor. For two he dressed like he was hiding something with the all-black ensemble with the big black hoodie. It made little sense. Roman probably was just dumb. There were lots of things he just didn’t get, here.
The stupid bandages felt like they were crawling and they distracted Roman from the movie again. He looked up to Thomas, who seemed to be watching the movie. But Thomas would feel the couch move if he scratched, even if Roman sat up. The crawling sensation was nothing compared to upsetting Thomas again. Roman exhaled through his nose and tried to ignore it. He turned his eyes back to the screen and attempted to focus on that prissy poodle that Roman would never admit to anybody that he loved. Virgil knocked on the side table and Roman looked back over to him.
‘That’s you,’ Virgil signed. Roman rolled his eyes and looked back to the screen. He wished he had that kind of confidence and pizazz. And whatever eye cream she had. Roman always looked so tired. He wanted to look good and smile brightly and be impressive and make people happy and win contests. He wanted that so badly it killed him sometimes. Roman wasn’t good enough in real life to be anything like that, though. It was dumb to be jealous of a cartoon, though. Things didn’t work like that in real life. Not that he wouldn’t mind being a cartoon, either.
He could have a bird accompaniment like a Disney princess and fight foes that couldn’t really hurt him and win every time. He could sing dramatic songs as he defeated his foes. And live somewhere impressive where bills and expensive things don’t seem to matter, just like in cartoons. It would be nice. He wanted a katana and to fire energy blasts from his hands and use them to save the world, making smart quips and clever jokes the whole time. But he was just plain, shitty Roman, at the end of the day, who couldn’t save anybody, not even himself.
Roman sighed and worked on focusing his eyes back on the screen again. He had spaced out and missed part of the movie, but it’s not like he hadn’t seen it before. He’d seen the entire Disney anthology at least 3 times while babysitting. Jeffery’s parents had the complete collection and sometimes let him borrow the ones the Finley’s didn’t have for Jessica, Amber, and John. He wondered how they were doing. Mr. & Mrs. Finley didn’t have much time to pay any attention to them. Roman thought that’s why they kept him around. They wouldn’t get fed or take baths or pick up the floors if Roman wasn’t there to do it for them. He couldn’t keep his focus on the TV to save his life, huh? Roman blinked a few times and looked back to the screen.
“Is there anything you want for dinner, Roman?” Thomas asked. Roman blinked and shook his head to take himself out of it. Woah, he was really out of it that time. He wasn’t sure he was even thinking anymore. “Are you sure?”
“Uh, I’m not hungry,” Roman muttered. Roman shifted and laid down on the couch. Clearly, some time had passed since the credits were nearly done rolling. He was too tired to care and didn’t feel like he deserved to eat and was too empty to even feel hungry.
“You’re not getting away with that Roman, you’re eating dinner. You didn’t eat breakfast and only finished an empanada for lunch. You barely weigh as much as a sack of potatoes,” Thomas said, getting up from the couch. Roman didn’t even remember that. He was glad he finally got that empanada for a moment until he realized he got something he wanted even though he didn’t earn one-if anything the opposite- and curled in on himself. Roman must have curled too tight and hissed when he hit his bruise.
“I’ll get you a fresh ice pack for that,” Thomas said compassionately and walked into the kitchen. Roman loosened up slightly and stared ahead. Virgil squatted in front of him and made a perplexed expression, like he was considering Roman for a moment.
‘What happened?’ Virgil signed, still looking confused.
   ‘Life,’ Roman signed back.
‘I mean last night, fuckhead,’ Virgil rolled his eyes.
‘Too nice. Freaked out. Ran,’ Roman signed. ‘How did you know?’
‘Damn dog woke up the entire house barking,’ Virgil replied, looking annoyed.
‘Foiled by a dog,’ Roman fingerspelled and snapped his fingers jokingly and made a face. His attempt to cheer himself up failed and he sighed. ‘Still hard to hate her,’ He added after a moment.
‘She’s impossibly cute,’ Virgil shrugged. ‘Try shooting her some time,’
‘What?’ Roman signed, confused. Was Virgil joking about hurting the dog? That didn’t seem right.
‘It’s a trick. Finger guns. Try it,’ Virgil explained and sat down on the floor. Roman was immediately relieved that it wasn’t some wildly grim joke. ‘What happened to your arms?’
‘Thomas said it was me,’ Roman signed back.
“Here you go, Roman,” Thomas said, passing the ice pack down over the couch to Roman. “Virgil, do you want anything specific for dinner?” Thomas asked. Roman carefully placed the ice pack on his bruise and sighed, watching for Virgil’s response.
“Tater tots,” Roman said for Virgil.
“Thanks, I just caught lots of T’s, I think. Is chicken and roasted vegetables acceptable with the tater tots?” Thomas asked. Virgil nodded. “Do you have any preference yet, Roman?” Roman just shook his head. “Patton’s almost home. I’m sorry in advance. I’ve asked him to give you your space, just tell him to back off if he gets too intense,” Thomas said, sounding wary.
‘Good luck with that,’ Virgil smirked. Roman huffed, he was right about that.
‘Do you want the TV?’ Roman asked Virgil hopefully.
   ‘Why?’ Virgil raised his eyebrows.
‘I’d rather watch you do something than stare at the wall,’ Roman signed back. His feet hurt too much to go upstairs and Thomas didn’t want him to be alone right now. Roman would just stare blankly at his phone upstairs anyway, he may as well stare blankly at the TV some more.
Virgil shrugged and got up, heading over to the TV and loading up some game with pretty music where a guy in a cloak jumps around collecting sigil things. The graphics were simple but somehow lovely. It was really soothing to watch. Roman was happy to space into it. The running in the desert was a little repetitive, but Roman didn’t mind that as much as he normally would. He had actually managed to watch it for a little while since it was so easy to follow and there was no dialogue.
“Roman! I’m so happy you’re safe!” Patton cooed loudly and Roman jumped and flinched back, accidentally curling into himself and pushing the ice pack into his bruise. He did his best to breathe through it and not cuss, but god damn holy fucking shit that hurt. “What’s wrong?” Patton asked, looking at Roman’s strained face.
“He got a giant bruise somehow. He doesn’t remember it,” Thomas called from the kitchen.
“It must have happened when I was in custody,” Roman grunted, carefully shifting back into place.
“What?!” Patton shot and Roman flinched again, more careful about the bruise this time. Virgil also flinched from the sudden sound and eyed Patton warily. “I’m sorry, boys. That just boils my beans,” Patton frowned, looking extremely upset. He crossed his arms and looked to the floor, grumbling quietly.
“Why do you say that, Roman?” Thomas asked, coming into the living room, possibly to try to cool Patton down, since he took his hand and lead him to sit down on the couch. Lita bounded in and sat on Patton’s lap as soon as he hit the couch. Patton pet Lita absentmindedly and Thomas scratched behind her ears.
“I went for a run, not a street fight. I blacked out and woke up with a bruise in the hospital after he asked me to come with him. When else was it supposed to happen? The dude was itching to arrest me, he probably got pissed when I passed out on him,” Roman explained. “Can’t further incriminate an unconscious teenager,” Roman said flippantly and tapped his temple. Virgil smirked slightly, still looking very unsettled.
“Roman, you’re suggesting something really serious,” Patton said, looking firmly at him.
“What, I had a seizure with absolutely no history of them and got a bruise the size of a steel-toed boot somewhere that was unlikely to have gotten enough impact to bruise? And there’s none anywhere else, despite the bruising force? Come on, I know what a bruise from a work boot looks like,” Roman rolled his eyes. “You’ll probably see the imprint line from the rubber sole tomorrow,” Roman flipped his hand like he was smacking the suggestion away.
“If that’s the case, we’re making a doctor’s appointment tomorrow. We need this documented to file a complaint,” Patton said quietly and nodded. Roman’s eyes widened in terror and he looked to Thomas desperately.
“No, no, Roman, you don’t have to see him again. We’ll get the doctor to take pictures and file like that. If you can really see the line from his boot, it should be a cut-and-dry complaint. Maybe we can get him off the street,” Thomas held up his hands. “Let me get you some cold water and just breathe for me, okay?” Roman nodded meekly and stared back at the paused game. Virgil looked nervous and swallowed heavily.
“I’m sorry, Virgil,” Roman whispered. Virgil shook his head and pressed his nails into his palms lightly.
‘Police bad memories,’ Virgil signed disjointedly.
‘Me too,’ Roman sighed. ‘Still here?’
‘Yes. Game,’ Virgil signed and picked back up the controller.
“Let’s go to the cat cafe!” Patton suddenly said after staring at them for a moment, looking sad. Thomas came back in with the glass of cold water. Roman slowly sat up and took the water tentatively.
“I really don’t think I could walk there if I tried,” Roman said quietly, tapping the glass nervously.
“Well, everybody wanted to do it the other day, I just wanted to cheer you two up,” Patton frowned, looking contemplative again.
“What about s’mores? We don’t have to walk anywhere for that and still get chocolate,” Thomas suggested instead. He eyed Virgil for a moment and turned around to the kitchen again.
“That sounds cool,” Roman muttered. He liked the sound of it but struggled to feel excited about it at the moment.
“I like the sound of that, how do you feel about s’mores, Virgil?” Patton asked. Thomas came back in with some cold water for Virgil as well. Virgil was a little shell-shocked when he took it but sipped it slightly as well. Roman watched Thomas head back into the kitchen and felt the cool glass in his hands and tried to focus on that feeling.
“Is there something you’re hesitant about?” Patton asked after Patton didn’t answer.
   ‘Fire,’ Virgil signed.
   “The fire part,” Roman provided.
“Oh, well, we don’t have to use that, kiddo! We can make the s’mores indoors,” Patton put heavy emphasis on the rhyme. “We could eat them after dinner with a bit of vanilla ice cream!” Patton smiled brightly, though there was still a deep concern in his eyes. Virgil nodded slightly and went back to playing.
Patton looked like he was considering something and nodded resolutely… to himself, maybe. Roman felt the wet glass and sipped the cool water as he watched Virgil go through this giant pillar room he was slowly filling with a magic sea. Roman noticed that sometimes Virgil would run his nails under his other nails while the cut scenes played. Maybe it was relaxing to him. Roman tried it and it felt really weird. Maybe it was different with longer nails. Virgil had more length on him. Roman sometimes chewed his nails when he was studying and they never got very long. Virgil painted his nails. Maybe that would help him stop. He’d have to buy some nail polish or something. But he had roughly five dollars and change to his name. He sort of needed to resolve that.
“Hey, um, Patton,” Roman stuttered, not taking his eyes off the screen to look to Patton.
“What’s up, kiddo?” Patton asked, still with those concerned eyes. Ugh. They seriously had to be the nicest people on the planet. Roman couldn’t understand it and it was starting to make him angry. He took a deep breath and tried to focus up again.
“Am I allowed to get a job? You know, go babysit or mow lawns?” Roman asked meekly.
   “Well-” Patton started.
“No, Roman. You don’t have to work for money,” Thomas called and insisted firmly from the kitchen.
“I don’t-” Patton started, looking like he was confused and disagreed.
“Trust me, Pat. It’s a hard no,” Thomas called back with an edge to his voice.
“Well, I guess not,” Patton shrugged. “We give Virgil $30 a month, and you’ll get the same. But if you want books or art supplies or something for a hobby, we’ll get them for you, anyway if it isn’t too outlandish. I think Virgil mostly uses his allowance on digital media,” Patton explained. Virgil shrugged.
“That’s… giving me money for doing nothing,” Roman said incredulously.
“You’re not doing nothing, kiddo! You’re working hard in school, keeping up your parts of the house, and figuring out who you are and what you want to do! None of that stuff is nothing,” Patton objected and explained calmly. “If you’ve got other expenses you want to talk about, we’re happy to work out a deal,” But what about what he owed them for staying here? If they gave him money for everything he did around the house, it sort of made it harder to pay them back.
“As long as you’re not working a job,” Thomas provided, sounding very resolute, from the kitchen.
“Come on, Thomas, it’s not like I will go out and work for Jet again,” Roman groaned, not appreciating the distrust.
“It’s not about that, it’s about that fact that you shouldn’t have to and I think it’s sick you were forced to,” Thomas reiterated, coming back out into the living room and standing behind Roman’s spot on the couch. “I don’t think you have a healthy relationship with money, period,” Thomas gripped the back of the couch.
“I don’t like not doing anything,” Roman rubbed the glass and stared into it. “Plus, I could make more by myself and you guys wouldn’t have to waste any money on me,”
“See, Roman, we don’t think it’s wasting money. We do think it’s wasting your childhood if you’re working,” Thomas insisted, sounding very intense. Roman huffed sourly.
“Didn’t you do fun stuff at the Finley’s, champ? You couldn’t have been babysitting every night. We want you to have more time for school and fun,” Patton said. The cheer in his voice was tainted with sadness, though. Roman froze and swallowed.
“Oh, god, Roman, please don’t tell me…” Thomas moaned and rubbed his face.
“Okay, I won’t,” Roman said sourly, dragging his nail along the cup.
“What?” Patton said, looking between the two.
“He was babysitting every night. And probably all weekend. And when you weren’t watching the Finley’s kids you were watching somebody else’s. Am I right?” Thomas asked. Roman nodded slowly.
“I don’t mind babysitting. I got to watch movies with them and stuff, too. We played games together, and I got to do stuff after I put them to bed,” Roman muttered in defense of himself, not able to meet Thomas’s eyes.
“Did your caseworker know this?” Thomas asked seriously.
“Maybe? I’ve been taking care of the younger kids for a while, it’s not that weird,” Roman offered weakly.
“I think that’s somehow worse,” Thomas rubbed his head, looking frustrated.
“I’m sorry,” Roman whispered and dropped his head on to the glass.
“Roman, no, I’m not mad at you. I’m mad at the situations I don’t think you even realized you were in,” Thomas said softly.
“I wasn’t in any situations. I’m still here,” Roman objected quietly.
“Roman, you can’t tell me that being forced to traffic drugs because your foster family wouldn’t feed you wasn’t a situation,” Thomas said firmly, sounding frustrated and gripping the couch even harder.
“What!?” Patton shot up and looked scandalized, and Virgil bolted. Roman wished he could have, too, but he was so tired and his feet hurt badly and a loud part of him just wanted to get punished already so he could finally feel right in the world.
“I’ll go make sure Virgil’s okay. Pat, please settle down. I think we might need a no loud sudden noises rule,” Thomas said, walking up the stairs. Roman hoped Virgil was okay and tried to breathe. The air from the cool water kind of helped, but he struggled with keeping a grip on himself.
“I’m sorry, Roman,” Patton said sheepishly. “Did you really…” Patton trailed off. Roman nodded weakly. “I’ll… have to work on not shouting. I’m really sorry, kiddo,” Patton said sheepishly. Roman shook his head. “I have things to be filled in on,” Patton added after a minute. “Is it okay… I mean, do you mind if Thomas puts me in the loop so I can hopefully not do that again?” Patton asked, sounding upset. The whole drug dealer crony thing was out of the bag. He may as well know the rest. It’s not like it was the whole story or even the worst thing he’d done. It would be easier if Patton knew. And then Patton could talk some sense into Thomas and they’d send him away and he could be a piece of shit somewhere less nice. Roman swallowed and signed yes, not willing to raise his head from the cup and afraid of crying again if he opened his mouth to speak.

Late night thoughts #1 — KnY demons and Disney
It's currently 6am here and I haven't been able to fall asleep yet so this still counts as late night thoughts, right? Well, even if not, just enjoy the crack please.
Also, when talking about movies that have been remade, I'm taking the old versions, I haven't seen any of the remakes yet and I'm not exactly planning on it either.
Muzan
Honestly prefers Dreamworks over Disney, especially their earlier works.
Probably still enjoyed Great Mouse Detective or The Black Cauldron. Oh right, and Hunchback of Notre Dame had its good moments for him.
Has that one book that ends every story before the villain gets defeated so it's like they won.
Kokushibou
Genuinely believes Mulan is the only valid Disney film. And that's really only thanks to Li Shang.
Will cut you up if you mention the sequel tho.
One he really hates is Lion King. It just hits too close to home for him.
Douma
HUGE Frozen fan. Emotionally constipated orphaned princess with ice powers who's lived her whole life in isolation and doesn't get people? Come on.
He felt a little called out at first but then he learnt Let It Go by heart.
Saw the sequel at 50 times at the cinema before letting someone talk him into buying the DVD. Cried every time.
Akaza
Really likes Mulan too. And for some reason The Little Mermaid and Hercules too but Mulan is his no. 1.
Won't admit it but he can lip-sync every single song in those movies. Ok, let's be fair, he can lip-sync the whole Mulan movie.
Also enjoyed the Hercules spin-off series even if he rarely got any of the refferences.
Hantengu (and his chaotic boy band)
Actually have Disney movie night marathons. Usually only Yoroko and Karaku make it till morning.
Every single one of them loves Lion King. Sometimes it's on twice in one night. The sequels not so much but Yoroko digs the Hakuna Matata one.
Sekido sometimes does Scar impressions when they act out. Some of them are actually scared of him (and Zira too).
Nakime
The Little Mermaid or Hunchback of Notre Dame are really the only two she enjoyed.
Still can play just about every Disney song EVER on her biwa. She can also sing but usually doesn't.
Yes, that includes songs from sequels and spin-offs. She has lots of time in the Fortress.
Gyokko
Not all that much into Disney, prefers japanese animation most of the time. And japanese movies in general.
Heard of the Ao Oni live action movies? He sent a couple letters to Disney, asking them to adapt the other novels.
Sometimes likes a little comedy. Emperor's New Groove really fell in line with his taste.
Daki
Thinks Cinderella is a comedy. So is Snow White. So is Sleeping Beauty. Yeah, every princess story is a comedy.
Secretly cried in her pillow when she thought Snow White died but nobody can know this.
All-time favourite is Bambi because humans are disgusting.
Gyutaro
Usually just watches whatever Daki does, only rarely on his own.
Likes Pixar production more than Disney originals but it's not major.
Adores Princess and the Frog and Hunchback for obvious reasons (though the literary basis for the later one hurt him to read).
Kaigaku
Not a very big fan but he enjoys the older movies. Thinks the new ones suck and isn't afraid to say that to your face.
For some reason really likes Robin Hood. And Oliver & company.
Can and will sing rock/metal versions of every Disney song that has such a version already made. Has made children cry with this in the past and can again if desired.
Enmu
Ever heard of Great Locomotive Chase? Being based on an actual event makes it all the more appealing to him. He will watch anything tho.
Usually falls asleep within first three minutes but somehow remembers everything anyway?
Sometimes goes to cons or public reading events to share the "real stories" the Disney movies were based on. He's banned from 4 cons and 26 libraries all across Japan so far.
Rokuro
Actually really loves Disney and remembers at least one quote for every character who has at least a line.
Really likes all The Three Musketeers movies.
Sometimes a little confused about early Dreamworks production since they look so similar.
Wakuraba
Not that much of a fan but he knows the classics. Not that any of them speaks to him personally.
Sometimes gets called Banzai after that one hyena in Lion King. He hates it but at least it's not Ed.
Doesn't realize Disney doesn't only make animated movies. Maybe one day.
Mukago
Knows the Disney renessaince era and then the modern movies. Also heard of Lady and Tramp at one point.
Probably kinda likes Pocahontas and doesn't understand why are the americans so angry about it.
Paint With All the Colours of the Wind is forever his (her?) ringtone and you can't do anything about it.
Rui (and fam)
Apparently there was a movie called The One and Only, Genuine, Original Family Band.
He gets bored by it anyway but keeps it on for the aesthetics.
Also have movie nights but usually not Disney-only. And he's the only one allowed to pick movies anyway. Bambi or Lion King are common choices.
Kamanue
Dreamworks fan.
Used to enjoy Marvel but refuses to support Disney.
Gets stuck babysitting Enmu far too often tho so he knows all the movies anyway.
Kyogai
Underrated movies fan. Both the "dark era" of Disney animation and anything else that got lost over time.
Top favourite is, and will forever be, Treasure Planet. He squeels like a little kid when watching that one.
Thinks sequels deserve some love too even if they weren't as good as the originals.
Susamaru
Star Wars fan mostly but won't say no to some older Disney classic. Just not anything too "woke" or princessy.
Emperor's New Groove is right up her alley and she knows everything about the movie.
Also really liked the Jungle Book. Except for the ending. She just wants Mowgli to grow up to be the next Tarzan but without the girl.
Yahaba
Prefers the book originals and complains about adaptations way too much.
Kind of enjoyed Hercules because of all the refferences to old mythology, that made him feel smart. But they messed up a few things so there's that.
What do you mean Prince of Egypt is not Disney?
Tamayo
Casual fan, doesn't really get the appeal beyond "Aw, what a cute cartoon!"
Not a fan of the dirty jokes slipped in sometimes, nor the other adult refferences.
Likes Jane from Tarzan because she's a good girl who came to study animals and found love and was overall super wholesome. She also likes Belle.
Yushiro
Pretends to be annoyed but actually loves princess movies most of them all.
Has a secret collection of figurines. Everything he can get his hands on, though villains usually get burnt or otherwise creatively disposed of.
Convinced Tamayo is a princess and that birds do her hair every morning. You can't change his mind.
Swamp triplets
Princess movies preffered because the girls are really pretty (and sometimes below 16, let's be fair).
Can never agree which one is the best though. One says it's Belle, Two claims Moana is superior to any princess, Three usually goes with Snow White or Sleeping Beauty but he can't make up his mind.
All of them are kinda scared of Jafar because he reminds them of Muzan a bit.
Hand demon
Probably knows all the animated movies by heart. And all the villain songs.
Loves Brother Bear. A lot.
Still scared of the bad guys, he just thinks they have hip songs and cool style.
Nezuko
Looks up to the badass Disney girls. No, not Anna and Elsa, the actual badass Disney girls.
Sometimes jokes that Tanjiro and her are a bit like Lilo and Stitch. Tanjiro makes sure to point out she's a princess though.
Absolutely loves Big Hero Six and Zootopia. You know, obvious reasons.

Hey tumblr! Today I am going to vent about animation and representations of black people. This is a longtime frustration of mine, mainly because it's so ridiculous and so persistent. I am not funny, so just try to bear with me.
I am so sick of black people being turned into animals and other nonanthropomorphic entities in animated films.
Let me start by saying, it's not a bad thing to do if it's not the standard, but it's a longstanding standard. This is a comprehensive list of everything I can remember, many being films that I quite enjoyed and still do sometimes. But as a body, I am SO tired of it, and pretty offended too tbh. I want to also say that this doesn't just go for black people, it goes for Native American, Hispanic, and Asian cultures as well, but I'm being specific to black people because of the sheer prevalence that makes it so that it's an industry standard with black people and also Im black so I can remember relating to these characters, and being happy that a lot of them existed and were so cool, and then realizing this is all I was ever going to get. Almost all of it is Disney, but not quite. So here goes.
Let's start with just early Disney. Start with the music.
Dumbo
The crows in Dumbo. Jim the Crow. "The personalities and mannerisms of the crows—specifically their fast-paced, back and fourth dialogue—were inspired by the backchat found in the band records of African Americans artists of the time, such as Cab Calloway and Louis Armstrong. The crows were also inspired by African Americans on a deeper level; according to animation historian, John Canemaker, the crows sympathize with Dumbo's plight, as they are also an alienated group, ostracized because of their physical being."
Next! The Aristocats
It's jazz and as much as white people tried you really cant have jazz without black people. Scat Cat was originally supposed to be voiced by Louis Armstrong too, but he got sick and Scatman Crothers voiced him instead.
The Jungle Book
The Jungle Book was problematic on so many counts, but I'm going to try and stay focused here.
The Jungle Book was part of the Golden Age of Disney, where the music was better, fun, and more relatable. And everybody loves animals. So it's a perfect recipe for success. Make the animals talk, and you can have so much fun. It's true. BUT the music in style is largely based on black culture. It's the 60s. You want fun music that appeals to kids and it's pretty much unavoidable. The apes and monkeys in the Jungle Book are singing probably the most memorable song in the movie, "I Wanna Be Like You", that falls into a genre called "jump swing". I don't want to get into the racism of the song or the film at large tbh. I just want to say, that these black-coded characters were apes. At this point, Disney realizes they could use black culture without depicting black people on screen ever or even using black voice actors. Disney wanted Louis Armstrong originally, but thought it would be viewed as racist *looks into the camera like she's in the office*
The Fox and the Hound
Allegory for racism that even a five year old can pick up. Tod is not coded as black but his story is, and it's intentional.
Oliver and Company
The Lion King
It's Africa and rooted partially in African music. (Thank you for the play, I'm in love with it)
Tarzan
I don't know if I'd really include Tarzan in this one. It's always been lumped in on this list in my mind, but there's so much weirdness about Tarzan. They took out all the African natives because the depictions in the book were so racist (and let's be real, Disney would have done a horrible job trying to make them NOT racist at the time) but it's Africa and they ALL talk and are give human coding. It was a completely white cast so I'm close to not including it, but I cannot conceptualize they made a movie in the heart of Africa with zero black people, so I'm keeping it on the list.
Mulan
Eddie Murphy's voice is the voice of comedy tbh. It's so recognizable, and so recognizably black that it's to not think of his character as also black, despite being a dragon in China. All of the voice actors for every human were of East Asian or Western European deescent, so it really does stand out.
Shark Tale
Jamaican culture and African American culture and voice qctors
Ice Age
Ellie
Osmosis Jones
Behold, the black lead! A blood cell.
Madagascar
Set in New York and Madagascar with a mostly white cast, but several black cast members as well. This one is very rooted in the premise of the animals REALLY being animals, so I think it barely deserves to be on the list, but it's still on the list.
Shrek
Eddie Murphy's voice is so unmistakable. They're are so many white characters in Shrek, but also literally every other voice actor is white so it really stands out. I wonder if they'd ever let him voice an animated black man.
The Princess and the Frog
Black protagonists turn both turn into frogs.
Zootopia
Unlike The Fox and the Hound, Zootopia's terrible and super messy allegory for prejudice is not why incuded it. Zootopia is supposed to be a haven for all cultures and creeds. The writers' goals were to make them diverse. The cast is diverse and the characters are diverse and it's self-evident. Again, these are not bad movies necessarily or even bad forms of representation. It's just...the vast majority of representation we get.
Soul
Black protagonist turns into a soul blob
Spies in Disguise
Black protagonist turns into a bird.
Let me be clear. There are so many animated films that choose to portray their characters as animals or animated objects. It may well be half or at least the majority. It makes sense. It often sells, and it keeps the budget lower normally. I think that's great, and I think it's great to have a diversity of cultures and walks of life in those films and in the voice actors who play them. Representation matters. However, the dearth of human animated black characters that get to stay human and stay black compared to the wealth of human white characters that get to stay human and stay white is really incredible and it never stops. I've been frustrated about this since high school when Disney baited me with finally getting a black princess, and Tiana was, at the time, the only Disney Princess who had ever not been allowed to be a human the entire time. I was heartbroken.
Thank god for Spiderman: Into the Universe. It was such an incredible, indescribable feeling to see that in theaters, I could have cried.

Eventually Landing, Alice Follows The Rabbit To A Door Which Opens To Another Door And Another And Another Until It Finally Opens To A Hall Of Doors Which Leads To The Scene We All Know...
With Alice Finding A Tiny Door She's Too Big For So She Drinks A Bottle Marked Drink Me Which Her Shrink But She Leaves The Key On The Table Which Leads To Her Eating A Cake Marked Eat Me Which Causes Her To Grow Too Big So She Starts To Cry...
But Unlike The Animated Version, The White Rabbit Appears As She Cries And Accidentally Scares Him Into Dropping His Fan And Gloves Which She Uses To Shrink Again To A Size Small Enough To Fit Through A Crack That Leads Her Outside Into A River Of Her Own Tears...
While Swimming, Alice Briefly Meets The Dodo Bird (Played By Mrs. Gogan From Pete's Dragon) The Lory Bird (Played By Cosmo Brown From Singin' In The Rain) And The Mouse (Played By Mr. Jefferson) Who Takes Us Into Our First Song As He Tells Alice Why He Hates Dogs And Cats...
youtube
Leaving Shortly After That Song, Alice Catches Up With The White Rabbit Only To Lead Us To The Scene Where He Mistakes Her For His Housemaid And Sends Her Off To His House To Get A New Fan And Glove Set For Him...
Only To Find Another Bottle Marked Drink Me Which Causes Her To Grow Once Again...
But Unlike The Animated Version, The Dodo Doesn't Show Up, But Instead The Rabbit's Butler Named Pat The Pig (Played By Donald Trump's Number One Supporter, Scott Baio, Who I Think Fits The Role Perfectly With His New Status) Shows Up..
As We Get The Scene With Bill The Lizard Who Goes To Pull Alice Out Of The Chimney Only To Get Kicked Out Of The Chimney By Alice...
This Leads To Pat And The Rabbit To Throw Berries That Turn Into Cakes That Allow Alice To Shrink To Normal Size Again As She Gets Away From The Rabbit And Pat Who Are Still Throwing Berries At Her..
Eventually Losing Them, Alice Soon Meets The Caterpillar (Played By The Candy Man Himself, Sammy Davis Jr.) Who Takes Us Into Our Next Song Called You Are Old Father William...
youtube
But Like The Animated Version, Alice Insults The Caterpillar By Saying That 3 Inches High Is Such A Wretched Height And He Disappears Instead Of Becoming A Butterfly...
Walking Toward A House That Is Visited By A Delivery Man For The Queen Of Hearts Who Gives A Frog Footmen With A Familiar Voice An Invitation From The Queen For The Duchess (Who We'll Meet In A Few Minutes) To Play Croquet...
And By Familiar Voice I Think You May Recognize The Voice Actor For Playing This Guy...
Tumblr media
That's Right, It's Robert Axelrod Otherwise Known As Lord Zedd (He Also Voiced Finster Too But He's Most Remembered For Zedd RIP)
Visiting The House, The Frog Footman Tells Alice That It's Useless Ringing The Bell On The Outside As He's On The Outside Too, But Going Inside Anyway, Alice Meets The Duchess (Played By Benita Bizzare) And Her Maid (Played By Imogene Coca) Who Take Us Into The Next Song...
youtube
But Finding The House To Be Too Violent, Alice Takes The Duchess' Baby Away Only For It To Become A Pig..
After This, She Meets The Cheshire Cat (Played By Kojak) Who Leads Us Into Our Next Song After Telling Her That She Won't Be Able To Leave Wonderland...
youtube
Thinking That He's A Bad Cat, Alice Attempts To Leave But Before She Does, The Cheshire Cat Points Alice To The Mad Hatter (Played By Anthony Newley) And The March Hare (Played By Roddy McDowell Who Would Later Play The Batman Villain, Jervis Tetch Otherwise Known As The Mad Hatter On Batman The Animated Series) Before He Disappears...
Walking Along The Road, Alice Finds The Mad Hatter And The March Hare Having Tea With The Doormouse (Played By Arte Johnson) And Sits Down To Join Them...
As A Little Tea Time Entertainment, The Mad Hatter Leads Us Into Our Next Song Because He Doesn't Like Alice's Version Of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star...
youtube
Eventually Upset By All The Rudeness At The Tea Party, Alice Continues Her Search For The White Rabbit As She Meets A Fawn In The Woods Which Leads To Our Next Song...
youtube
Finding A Doorway In The Woods, Alice Opens It And Finds Herself At A Beautiful Rose Garden Where She Meets Some Cards Who Are Painting The Roses Red, Only To Be Confronted By The Queen (Played By Jayne Meadows) And King (Played By Robert Morley) Of Hearts...
Who Arrives With Not Only The White Rabbit But A Whole Entourage Of People And Cards....
Introducing Herself To The Queen, She Asks Alice What's Going On Here Only For Alice To Tell Her That She Doesn't Know Much Of Anything As She's Only Been There For A Few Seconds Which Leads The Queen To Yell Off With Her Head.,.
But The King Defends Alice Believing That There's No Reason To Behead Her When She Doesn't Know Much Of Anything, Which Leads To Our Next Song...
youtube
Sparring Alice's Head For Now, The Queen Invites Her To Play A Game Of Croquet, Which Unlike The Disney Version Doesn't End With Alice Getting Her Head Nearly Chopped Off...
But Is Instead Just A Game Of Croquet With Flamingos...
With The Queen Pointing Alice In The Direction Of The Mock Turtle, Alice Goes Down The Path The Queen Suggested And Instead Runs Into The Gryphon (Played By Sid Caeser) Who Takes Alice To Meet The Mock Turtle (Played By Ringo Starr) Who Sings The Next And Probably Favorite Song From Part 1 Of This Movie..
youtube
Hearing Someone Yell That The Trial Is Beginning, Alice And The Gryphon Leave The Mock Turtle And Return To The Queen's Garden Where The Knave Of Hearts Is On Trial For Stealing One Of The Queen's Tarts, Despite There Being No Proof That He Did...
Bringing In The First Witness Or Should I Say Witnesses As They Bring In The Mad Hatter, The March Hare And The Doormouse, We Get Our Last Song For This Movie...
youtube
They Also Bring In The Duchess' Cook As A Witness As Well But Eventually Alice Argues The Ways Of The Queen's Court Which Leads Her To Grow As The Queen And Alice Continue To Argue...
Having Enough Of Alice's BS, The Queen Shouts Off With Her Head And Has Her Guards Chase Giant Alice But She's Not Afraid Of Them As They're Nothing But A Pack Of Cards...
Returning To Her Original Size As She Runs, Alice Eventually Trips And Falls Which Leads Her To Find Herself Back Home...
Now, This Is Where Things Get Interesting...
Entering Her House, She Finds Nobody There But Hearing And Seeing Her Cat Dinah On The Other Side Of The Mirror, Along With Her Parents Who Can't See Or Hear Alice But Their Own Reflections, Alice Can't Figure Out How To Get Through The Mirror...
So, She Sits In The Chair And Reads A Poem Called Jabberwocky Which Is About A Scary Monster But Getting Very Scared As She Reads It The Room Becomes Dark And The Jabberwocky Appears In The House...
You Know, I Once Saw A Video By James Rolfe (The Angry Video Game Nerd) And He Said That This Scene Scared Him As A Child To The Point He Was In Tears...
Saying That You Spend The Last Half Hour Looking At These Actors In Goofy Costumes Where This Thing Is Huge And Scary Compared To Alice...
Of Course, He Also Said That No Other Scene With The Jabberwocky Tops This Scene In Part 1 Which I Kindly Disagree With As There Are 2 That Could Possibly Be Scary...
To Be Continued...
Tomorrow...

By inviting me to talk about Disney and Community, you have opened pandoras box lol 😂 i will not shut up about them! i would definitely recommend finishing ducktales if you can! im so sorry you werent able to ride pirates or anything else for that matter :( thats awesome that you were a beta tester! (sidenote, fans have remade it and i think i might try it out again lol). (1/3)
Goofy movie/Community edits would be awesome! im dying to know some of your community/disney headcanons, whether theyd be incorporated in your fic or not! like favorite disney movies for the study group? i have a list but i wanna write it out better (more like a fanfic i guess?) but yeah, any headcanons! again, great movie picks! oliver and company is SO GOOD! i too love a good found family aspect 😭 (hence community lmao)
and omg i love the character choices! very underrated ones that arent usually chosen! (and ron stoppable definitely reminds me i have to get back to my kim possible rewatch ive neglected!) (3/3)
oooo i just saw the tags on your reply so top 5 disney channel movies! Im 110% Sorry i forgot this was in my ask box!! Also feel free to just like private message me if you want i dont mind at all.  I need to check out the fanmade one because i loved that game. I will talk headcanons all day because i have like a whole document written up and honestly it might help me get this fic written faster because  MUSE! They are so going into my fic!!!  I have a list written out of who all likes what Disney movie but im not sure if that whole list is going into the the fic its just for reference. I am like Annie i have to overprepare for anything i do. So I've been overprearing for this fic.  One headcanon ill put that @jabedalien helped me with was Jeff’s fav Disney movie is Toy story. It’s got, astronauts and cowboys. Its got a kid growing up with just his mom. It’s something he somehow connected with. Even though it wasn’t for his age he caught it and he probably cried a little. Also he probably never told a soul.
Top 5 Disney channel movies 1. Smart house!!! There is a reason i don’t own an Alexa or any of that stuff. I learned from that movie. That movie was also just amazing. seriously if you’ve never seen it go watch it! 2. Mom’s got a date with a vampire! For some reason i always remember bits and pieces of this one but never the whole thing. I just remember it left a good impression on me and that Helga from sabrina the teenage witch was in it. Also the actor who played Mr. Sheffield was in it.  3. GET A CLUE! the music was a lit! it was kids solving a mystery!  it was amazing!  4. wendy Wu homecoming warrior! Brenda song was just amazing! i love her! 5. the luck of the Irish. i get its problematic my roots are Irish but there's just something about that damn movie for me.  ALSO TALK TO ME MORE ABOUT DISNEY LIKE PLEASE I DONT CARE THAT PANDORAS BOX IS OPEN i will say im more likely to forget an ask then i am to forget a message on messenger here

Animated Special Advent Calendar
Tumblr media
Updated: December 23, 2019
Every year since my oldest first became interested in TV watching, we’ve watched classic Christmas specials annually. What started as a happy accident with an enamored three-year-old wanting a nightly dose of cartoon Christmas goodness, became a family tradition, and we now try and watch a different special every night between Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve, with family members rotating picks, youngest to oldest.
After mentioning this several times online, a few folks expressed interest in what we watch, so I’ll try to keep this page updated with daily entries, though I admit we’re not tyrants about doing this (it’s supposed to be fun!), so if we miss a night, we just try to watch two (or more) another time to catch up. The daily picks mean our line-up changes every season (variety is good!), though there are definitely a handful of annual must-watch specials on every family member’s mental lists, and we always finish on Christmas Eve with the 1966 classic, Dr. Suess’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas.
We’ve got a huge collection of DVDs and digital specials we own, but I’ll try and note where our picks are available to watch, if possible. And, if you’re looking for ideas to fill up your own Christmas Special advent calendar, you can check out my Top 25 Animated Holiday Special list, or the results of our Holiday Special Showdown, where 64 animated classics went head-to-head for viewer’s votes in 2017.
Nov. 28: We kicked things off on Thanksgiving with Phineas and Ferb’s Christmas Vacation, a music-filled Disney Channel original now available on Disney+ (Season 2, episode 21). It’s an annual must-see for us.
Nov. 29: Night two was British imports Robbie the Reindeer: Hooves of Fire and Robbie the Reindeer in Legend of the Lost Tribe. The first of these Aardman Animation originals is better than the sequel, but both still air annually on CBS. There’s also a third, UK-only entry, Close Encounters of the Herd Kind, that never made it to the US. Fun Fact: 100% of all 3 specials’ profits go to charity, as they were produced by Comic Relief.
Nov. 30: A Chipmunk Christmas. Though it had several DVD releases, they’re all of out print currently and this 1981 classic, a staple of my childhood, has become distressingly hard to find, even though we, personally, have multiple DVD copies.
Dec. 1: Our first special of December was The Happy Elf. This 2005 Harry Connick-voiced special got little love on its release, but is a family favorite. Rare to find on TV, it’s still widely available via digital or DVD, and worth checking out.
Dec. 2: With Frozen fever rampant, we revisited a lesser known entry in the franchise, 2016′s LEGO Frozen Northern Lights. This clever send-up isn’t specifically Christmas, but it’s snowy and so much fun. And it’s now available, though oddly broken into segments, on Disney+. (The Disney Channel is also showing it in one 30 min package all this month.)
Dec. 3: On this busy school night we needed something short, so I picked Pluto’s Christmas Tree, now on Disney+. Kids had never seen this 1952 animated short, and we all really enjoyed it.
Dec. 4: One of those days we wandered off the beaten path and tried the Opus-led A Wish for Wings that Work from 1991, based on the book and comic strip by Berkeley Breathed. A bit long for littles, but the ending landed, and it was a nice change of pace. Not streaming, but available very cheaply on DVD.
Dec. 5: Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire was my son’s pick. This pilot episode for the 30-year-old series works as the stand alone holiday special it was first conceived as, and can be found on Disney+.
Dec. 6: Ducktales: Last Christmas! This fun, 2018 special can be found on Disney+ (season 2, episode 6 of the rebooted series). We watched it several times last year, and it’s just good as I remember. Timey-wimey fun.
Dec. 7: This 2006 direct-to-DVD release isn’t the classic Looney Tunes of the 1930s-40s, but Looney Tunes: Bah, Humduck (available digitally or DVD) is still a fun Christmas Carol take with Daffy as Scrooge and a fairly faithful adaptation of Dickens’ tale.
Dec. 8: Time for a classic: Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, playing this year on Freeform, as well as CBS, and also available in an infinite variety of DVD collections and via iTunes.
Dec. 9: Did you know that Hallmark Channel used to make original animated specials? They did, and they were good, too! 2011′s Hoops and Yoyo Ruin Christmas was our pick last night and it’s smart, and cute, and fun. I miss that Hallmark Channel. Released on DVD, it’s out of print, but copies can still be found, and Amazon offers it for digital purchase.
Dec. 10: As a kid the anticipation of this special’s debut was almost too much to bear for my then, 7-year-old self. 1982′s The Smurf’s Christmas Special was my pick last night, and I vividly recalled how it was a such huge event for me at the time that I danced around the basement during the commercials, too full of excitement to sit. It isn’t streaming, but can be found on the still-available 2011 DVD The Smurf’s Holiday Celebration.
Dec. 11 and 12: Busy evenings the past few, so missed the 11th, but still managed to watch Merry Madagascar and Kung Fu Panda Holiday last night—and I almost managed to stay awake, too. (Both are on Netflix.)
Dec. 13: Duck the Halls: A Mickey Mouse Christmas Special, this charming, under-rated 2016 Disney Channel original is, oddly, NOT available on Disney+, though it can be purchased digitally or watched this month via Disney Channel On Demand. A family favorite since its debut.
Dec. 14: Last night, instead of a traditional animated offering, we had our annual viewing of (mostly) animated British Christmas adverts, which are a very big deal in the UK and, frankly, often more awesome than any 30 minute special. I’ve tweeted a lot about my love for these often tear-jerking mini-movies, but here are what I think are my top 5…5) From Sainsbury’s, 2018′s The Big Night builds to an awesome ending. 4) Sainsbury’s The Greatest Gift (2016) has an original song that’s become a Christmas favorite in our house. 3) John Lewis is the master purveyor of this emotionally manipulative—in the best way—three-minute extravaganzas. Lots to choose from, but 2014′s Monty the Penguin is probably my fave. 2) In 2015, Sainsbury’s delivered the perfect mix of comedy and heart with Mog’s Christmas Calamity. 1) And my fave—a bit of cheat since it’s Canadian—is Cineplex’s Lily and the Snowman. Seen it probably 100 times now, and cried every one. There’s plenty more to explore, from the UK and beyond, and falling down a rabbit hole of these ads on YouTube is an utterly delightful way to spend an evening. To get you started, here’s a compilation of what one YouTube reviewer calls the top 10 Christmas ads of 2019.
Dec. 15: Returned to a classic with 1969′s Frosty the Snowman, which still airs annually on CBS. Happy Birthday!
Dec. 16: Finally watched NBC’s new How to Train Your Dragon: Homecoming, available on Hulu.
Dec. 17: My pick, and I chose a Rankin-Bass we hadn’t seen in a while, 1970′s Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town. Unfortunately, forgot how long and slow this one was. My kids were kind of bored.
Dec. 18: Shrek the Halls, which really is laugh-out-loud family fun. For some reason, this is the only Dreamworks special not on Netflix, but does still air annually on ABC.
Dec. 19: I have no clue how Olive the Other Reindeer, this super-charming, Drew Barrymore-voiced special about a dog who mishears a radio bulletin and thinks Santa needs her, didn’t become a classic. It’s not streaming, but is available very inexpensively on DVD and well worth a watch.
Dec. 20: How Murray Saved Christmas, another overlooked gem, this 2014 rhyming special first appeared on NBC, and is airing this season as part of AMC’s Best Christmas Ever. (It’s also available on DVD and digital.)
Dec. 21: As we realize we’re quickly running out of days till Christmas, time to make sure we pack in some classics, like, A Charlie Brown Christmas.
Dec. 22: Santa, Baby! This 2001special featuring Eartha Kitt is the last of the Rankin-Bass originals and it’s…fine. Lots of music and a magical partridge. Not something you see everyday. (Was available on DVD, now out of print, and can sometimes be found on YouTube.)
Dec. 23: Saving the best for (almost) last, the whole family got up this morning and watched Prep & Landing, and its sequel, Prep & Landing: Naughty vs Nice, in our jammies, to kick off Christmas vacation.
Dec. 24: Christmas Eve is always the 1966 version of Dr. Suess’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas to remind us all that Christmas doesn't come from a store. Christmas...perhaps...means a little bit more.
