#also! on a non ana related note...
Hey I am a Sudanese and I want to provide context to why what Motaz said is racist ... (I have to no ill feelings towards him or anything similar ... this is just for education purposes).
1. Attaching being black/dark skinned to being Sudanese. Yes it true Sudanese are "black", but people with dark skin exsist across all the Arab nations ... and Sudanese people have different sade and tone of blackness, you won't find two people with the same "color" in the same household (i.e siblings...etc).
We use different specific terms to describe different skin tone of blackness ... • wheat قمحي • Asmer اسمر• green اخضر •blue ازرق •black اسود.
Attach blackness to Sudanese lead to multiple racist remarks like some can reserve a question "how can you be Sudanese and be light skinned? You are probably mixed right?" .... and multiple portrayal of Sudanese by non-Sudanese actors in media lead to them doing "black face". (For example: ادوار ناصر القصبي في مختلف اجزاء "طاش ما طاش") and (there is a scene in the Egyptian movie "عيال حبيبة" where they meet a light skinned Sudanese person and they end up painting his skin black because light skinned Sudanese do not exist).
I am not talking about South Sudan or the west part of (north) Sudan "Darfur", I am talking about Sudan as whole. Sudanese are East African of course we are "black" (I am not gonna touch the subject of Colorism and tribalism that we suffer as a society).
2. The way he pronounced "Ana Asmar" it sounded like he is trying to imitate the Sudanese dialect by changing the "s" sound to sound like a "z" sound. (It ended up being more like "أنا أزمر" and not "أنا أسمر") ...
First of all: we don't talk like this ... sure some people sometimes change the "س" to "ز" like in the word "nine تسعة تزعة"، but never the word "Asmar اسمر" we say it as it is.
Second: it maybe a reach ... but sounded like a broken Arabic. We are Arabs we speak a normal arabic dialect like any other Arab nation ... (to tell how many times I met Arab for different nations and be surprised that I can speak and understand Arabic... like they expect us to speak in a different language).
This is why what he said in the video is racist and problematic.
Side Note: something related to racism towards Sudanese that unrelated to the video, I am saying this to educate people ... for the love of God عليكم الله when you meet a Sudanese person and know they are a Sudanese for the first time don't say "يعني انت زول؟" ... it is condescending. "زول" means: person/شخص/human it is not a specific term that mean Sudanese it is just a normal word that just means a person. Of course I am a "زول" and you are a "زول", everyone on this earth no matter their nationality/ethnicity/race is a "زول" ... so stop being racist.
I apologise for the long rant.
With love
thank you so much for sharing, i think this is really important for people to read. i really appreciate you taking the time to write this out.
i remember seeing other reasons why people were angry at what he said including how he was laughing instead of asking why the aid was in gaza and not sudan also, making it seem like hes taking the situation in sudan lightly.

How about 4?
(Because of the reblog)
Hope everything's fine! ✌️
WarioWare Fan Ask Game!
4. Do you have any personal headcanons or interpretations of the characters? (In relation to design, hobbies, connections to other characters, etc)
Tagging @freakattack since they asked about this too. But I will squeeze in more headcanons in that post >:3 (please do not worry I will indulge in stuff here too)
I've been obsessed with this series since 2018, so I have like, about 6 years of headcanons. This does not include me goofing off with the Thangs in my youth, though I love them dearly. ...it's just that this love is overshadowed by ninjas.
Here's a chunk of headcanons:
Orbulon is squishy and very capable of transformation. I'm stealing the idea from @the-ren-amamiya that he cannot change his eyes when transforming into other beings so he still just wears his shades. He fluctuates between both lanky and chubby depending on his mood, but I like thinking of a middle ground between the two...like give him his boots back, please...
Him, Red, and Ana have gotten into transformation antics because we cannot forget that Red is both Ashley's wand and broom. It is very hard to beat those three when they are hiders in hide and seek. I like @scarlett-v-the-fox's idea that Red's transformations must contain the color red somewhere on him. So between that and Orbulon's eyes, only Ana can do a perfect 1 to 1 transformation when she feels like it.
In speaking of Ana, she's a bit like Ash's Pikachu because she likes contorting herself to partially resemble others to emphasize who's she's (or Kat are) talking about. That or she has a non verbal episode...she has quite a few moments where she doesn't want to talk, or simply can't. Yes I am a bit of a believer she has some neurodivergence, because I am in that boat of being neurodivergent and she has the vibes™.
Shadow was specifically bred to be a dog that's an expert in ninjutsu. Most doggos can't quite just turn into a sword. So in a sense, he's an inheritance from the ninja parents...or clan. Honestly I should pull up my notes on how...distant the parents are...if I can find them.
If you know me, you know I am very fixated on the idea that Ana and Lulu end up as besties. Ana still loves Kat. It's just that on the few occasions where Kat isn't around, there was a time Ana latched onto Lulu 'cause next best thing...that and they both love wearing dresses and eating. Ana cannot talk Kat into the whole frilly dress up time. It may not make full sense in most's lores and maybe even canon, but the one I developed with a close friend has those two also be supportive of one another in developing a sense of self. ...I really need to finish that fic where as (pre?) teens where pageant violence happens. ...It's not exactly as exciting as it sounds, but let's just say Ana defended Lulu who was being harassed by others for not being conventionally pretty.
I used to believe that the Thangs literally lived in Club Sugar. It's a tall building, and I tried to recreate that in the Sims 4. That isn't true anymore but Mr. Sugar still has to deal with the Thangs on a 20/7 basis. Also Mr. Sugar has a instagram for his kitty Bochi.
Miyakiyo has a YouTube Channel featuring her dog Jack, the doggo in the "Shake!" microgame from the first game. It's very much like like Maya the Polar Bear, and it's quite popular. She took advantage of the fact that WarioWare featured Jack in a microgame, especially because Wario ain't paying the royalties to feature that doggo. Of course, the twins are still good friends with Miyakiyo and Jack. I just haven't quite decided Miyakiyo's age.
Bridget and Sal Out are rivals...but are much friendlier to each other compared to how Vanessa treats them and Mona.
The doctor from "Listen to the Doctor" has 2 offices, with the one at Caresaway Isle as his vacation workplace. The nurse he works with tends to the one in Diamond City when he's away to that island. Yes he is absolutely the primary care doctor to all of the WarioWare cast.
I have a lot but I'll share more in other posts. Again, got 6 years of being fixated on this series. Feel free to ask for any specifics and what not!

Deep sigh. So I've already seen people on Twitter justifying potential Buck/Natalia and Eddie/Marisol in the finale because TPTB thought that the show was going to be cancelled and wanted to give everyone "happy endings." And I'm sitting here like, "Am I the only one who thinks that makes NO sense?"
How would giving two main characters endgame - because that's what they would be - relationships with totally random women who the audience barely knows be "happy endings"??? As opposed to letting them have one of the multiple sweet Buckley-Diaz family scenes that they've seen during the series, ambiguous enough that shippers AND non-shippers could be content? If they push these other relationships which, based on what we've seen, had no chemistry and nothing unique or memorable, it would show that TPTB actually wanted unhappy endings - for the Buddie shippers! It would be SUCH a slap in the face to the many fans who've poured so much heart, soul, time and effort into creating fan works and hyping up the show on social media (because say what you want about GA mattering the most, the Buddie fandom is responsible for the vast majority of the show's ONLINE buzz and keeping it relevant in that respect).
Will people EVER stop defending horrid plots and writing from Kristen and co.? I ask that generally, but also for those who think that it's part of the "long game" for Buddie. What long game? Kristen has said that she does not view Buddie as romantic and does not want their relationship to become romantic. It's always possible that she gets replaced or overruled by others, but like...let's not kid ourselves here. We're constantly fighting against her and others who are opposed to Buddie.
On a related note, if Marisol is indeed back for Eddie (and sadly I'm getting the vibe that she is because she keeps getting ruled out for potential guests in 6x17) it won't be another step on the Eddie/Buddie journey like some people are already claiming 🙄 All the emphasis on Shannon is because Eddie is READY for THE one, the "end all be all" partner that he chooses for himself. It's not like this is his first brush with dating, because he already did that with Ana. They're simply not going to redo an Ana 2.0 (aka build them up and then have them break-up). Buck and Natalia...I have no idea what they're doing, and honestly I don't care that much, because Buck went from a favorite to one of my least favorite characters over the past two seasons. I'm almost immune to his dramas. But Eddie is different, and seeing him shoved into something that already seems so ridiculous for so many reasons...it's almost physically painful.
Sorry for the angry message, I'm PMSing and have laryngitis and am generally crabby right now, LOL. I don't follow many people in the fandom anymore because they constantly make excuses for serious issues with the show and just don't keep it real. But you tell it like it is, and I appreciate it!
Every time I see something about the show starting these random relationships BECAUSE they thought it was the end of the show I just get very
about it. Because you're right that's not a happy ending, not just for Buddie shippers but anyone who are fans of the individual characters and want to see them get the kind of love story the show has done so well (for the most part and VASTLY better than most shows manage) for the other canon couples!
Also, I'm gonna be honest, I don't think anyone on the show side was actually worried about the show ending this season. The renewal talks went late last season too and the network was assuring everyone it was just hammering out money details and the show wasn't in danger. (And we saw how well that budget worked out for us in the lack of good (or any in some episodes) emergencies and a much smaller writer/director pool.) So from my understanding and in my opinion this renewal was simply a matter of if FOX could afford to keep producing a (high budget) show owned by Disney or would release it back to be produced and aired by Disney.
911 has always ended their seasons on hopeful notes for everyone and tied things together nicely so what we've heard doesn't sound any different. I personally feel like @outrunningthedark 's prediction of Buck ending the season being alone and settled in himself makes the most sense. The Natalia stuff could come up in the future again (hopefully not) but my guess is she's here to help with a "lesson" for Buck. Why TF we need her for several episodes and Buck pursuing her to get there, when he has a whole firefam full of people with near death experiences to talk to and a character needing a "push" is usually done with a line or two from a victim on a call, is anyone's guess. Mine would be KR is obsessed with getting into Buck's pants so all his stories have to revolve around that 🤷🏻♀️ But it feels like a waste of time for me when it could have been a moment on a call and then Buck talking with characters the audience already know and care about and know care about HIM. Firefam interactions are ALWAYS more impactful than having it happen with some random side characters.
I'm with you on being tired of whatever KR is doing with Buck and I hate that because he's always been a top favorite of mine but it's all just SO bad, or like with 6x11 focused on the wrong things and giving dualing messages so nothing really hits the emotional beat it should. And Eddie has come SO far and it's been very 😒😒😒 watching the show pretend Shannon was great and he's trying to find someone to "recapture that spark" he had with her, instead of digging into the complexities of that whole mess as Chris gets older and starts asking hard questions. Maybe we'll all luck out and it will end up being nothing but I personally prefer to brace for the worst and then celebrate being wrong if I am.
I'm sorry you're not feeling well but I hope getting a little ranting out settled your mind a bit! Thanks, I do try to keep things real because while there are a lot of things I love about the show there are things I don't and I don't think it's a bad thing to talk about where things are going wrong because how else is the show supposed to know? I'm with you in that it baffles me that shows write off online fandom because they're a "smaller" portion of the viewers when they are the ones most likely to get new people to watch the show and also create all the buzz the shows love so much! I never watched Hannibal, it's very much Not For Me, but it's been off the air for AGES and I'm still seeing new edits and hearing things about it because it had such a devoted following. Compare that with other procedural shows that end and you never really hear anything about them again. Fandom creates buzz and longevity for shows, why NOT cater to them a little? Here's hoping the move to ABC works out for us and that a shake-up in the writing/pacing etc is part of that deal. Because KR has just proved over 2-ish seasons (she took over sometime in s4 if that finale and forced BT and the scenes she was told she HAD to include that she didn't think were important weren't clue enough) that she can't hack this job. By her own admission she is out of ideas for big emergencies and has a hard time coming up with plots enough to fill out episodes. It's time to get her out.

Millner, Jacqueline, and Catriona Moore. Contemporary Art and Feminism.
Conclusion pg 238
The seemingly simple question—how can feminism translate into a socialmovement today?—is a wake-up call for feminists working in the academy and theartworld to keep reaching beyond these contexts to re-develop a grass roots politicsof alliance. An interesting recent turn is feminist artists extending their practice intothe formal sphere of political institutions, seeking and securing seats in local legis-latures by campaigning on their expertiseasartists, highlighting how artists haveparticular insights into community issues and the capacity for creative solutions.
feminist art as an activistpolitics of alliance, with three main strategic emphases, namely, decolonisation; re-imagining the art/life divide, and problematising‘equality’politics.
Ethnicity won’t join a white feminist agenda. It will transform it. It willbecome the central agenda of feminism, as rightly it should, because we arethe majority...the groundwork laid by white feminists of the 1970s, that bodyof knowledge, will be a resource, but we will have to redefine it according to238Conclusion
the experience of women of colour...I can’t relate to the universality of allwomen. We make these bridges tentatively, we don’t make assumptions, webuild a relationship slowly...It’s a long struggle, a long time buildingbridges
https://www-jstor-org.ezproxy.massey.ac.nz/stable/1358556
In reconsidering the historical disjunct between the studio and the street,
feminism dovetails with, and draws upon, centuries of de-colonial cultural resis-
tance by linking the artworld to other social spaces through a porous art practice
Artists registered excessive (including failed or under-performing) gendered sub-jectivities and sexual proclivities that complicated the representational demand to bemiddle class, white, straight and good looking. White feminists also learnt from FirstNations’perspectives that proposed a decolonising non-essentialism as a starting pointfor resistant acts of sovereignty, rather than investigating the politics of media/high artrepresentation as a (postmodern) end in itself. Feminist artists broadened their sightsbeyond the circularity of representational politics, towards a politics of acts rather thanof identities.
Across these diverse spaces, we noted how
feminist pedagogy has always been provisional, just as concepts of feminist aes-
thetics have never settled
Renewed attention to the materiality of feminist arts and crafting from the 1990salso helped to sideline the linguistic models that underpinned psychoanalytic ana-lyses of gender and sexual identities. Material practices could directly link to gen-erative and generous acts of non-essentialised common cause and care.
We argued that feminism contributes new artistic perspectives on art and envir-onment by confronting the lingering and gendered view within Western thoughtof nature as feminine and/or racially other.
These challenges have further transformedthe anthropocentric terms whereby Western landscape traditions read the land toexpress self-realisation through divine or proprietorial connection, to help build aneducative, ecological ethics. We noted how feminist participatory actions often have a community base devel-oped through listening to other voices and opening up overlooked spaces of cultural agency
The idea that personal life has political implications (and vice versa) lies at the heartof feminism and of this book. Consciousness raising methods derived fromWomen’s Liberation, such as supportive group reflection on the political implica-tions of women’s personal experience, found their way into feminist aesthetics asan interrogative tool and a means to assert, diffuse and multiply agency. It’s time toacknowledge how feminism introduced this expandedfield of the everyday, thedomestic and the collective into the artworld
it has now become an aestheticnorm in global exhibitions of contemporary art, with artists creating‘diurnal’pro-jects responding to local problems, working with local art co-ops, unexpected sites,
walks and mapping to engage memory and place
This book has tried to under-stand the varied ways that‘the personal is political’has shifted both the way we doart and the way we do politics. This slogan is still relevant today, in promptingintersectional reflection on how experiences of gender are also articulated by race, class, sexuality, disability, religion and geography
the traditional political creed of‘human solidarity’.

Beware Of Fool's Gold!
Furthermore, a gold IRA just isn't tax-protected; you need to pay a sum of your whole profit (as per the current price) on the time of withdrawal. Although gold is mostly seen as an asset, the analysts noted that the view of the precious steel as global forex is gaining traction, specifically due to inflationary pressures that erode religion in fiat money. They offer both segregated and non-segregated vaults on your gold, which means that you may choose whether to receive back the exact same deposit that you place in or a different unit of gold. Sometimes rated as 401k gold ira rollover of many ten best gold IRA firms in operation proper now, it is evident to see that the Birch Gold Staff takes its on-line popularity significantly. If you take into consideration present vulnerabilities in the worldwide monetary system and the implications of peak oil, a a lot greater allocation is suitable. How to transform a standard ira into a roth ira , the tax implications of doing so, and how to decide whether mistakes people make with roths and their estates. How to convert a 401K to Physical Gold If in case you have a 401k plan from your employer and decide to depart the corporate, you should bring your 401k to your IRA before doing anything else. One firm specifically that supplies silver and gold IRAs is Goldco. In line with Brett Gottlieb, a financial planner and founding father of Comprehensive Advisor in Carlsbad, Calif., it's important to grasp the necessities for a gold IRA earlier than making the funding. By selling its worths of client empowerment, training, compassion, values, openness, in addition to efficiency, Birch Gold Group has truly gotten the trust of over 10,000 prospects considering that 2003. Such clients laude their experience in collaborating with them as well as have really relied on the Birch Gold Team for the most recent data, updates, and likewise info relating to their precious steel accounts and investments.

This can be helpful when it’s time to retire, but many of these markets are volatile, which means that people may not make as much cash for their retirement as they thought. For this reason, the article argues, the gold commonplace can't be restored: there is just a lot money in circulation compared to the finite provide of gold. It could take many months to type via all the data. This show of power is ready to proceed, stated Brady, who sees gold heading in the direction of the 2016 high of $1,377 this year, largely driven by central financial institution insurance policies. Traditional IRAs are tax-deductible, only as much as six thousand dollars per yr, and they require that you have a commerce or business. This represents the most important inflation spike since September 2008. Adding to that, August's report also showed the most important month-to-month rise in medical care prices since 2016 and record will increase in medical insurance prices. However, if you're years away from retirement, investing in gold may very well be an excellent selection to your portfolio. As central banks continue to speed up the tempo at which money is printed, inflation will improve, and the buying energy of paper currencies will decline.
When requested about why they launched the report right now, Nathan Rosevear, Owner at Greatest Gold Funding Evaluate stated: “With the present U.S administration spending and printing more cash than ever recorded in historical past, inflation is rising and the dollar is reducing in worth. What Weeds Can You Take to Get a Good Night’s Sleep?
Insomnia is caused by a variety of factors. If you suffer from it, you know how frustrating it is not to get a good night’s sleep. There are various remedies to help you fall asleep. You may drink chamomile tea or melatonin. Are there other options? How about weeds? Can you visit a Santa Ana dispensary recreational shop?
Weeds to Promote Sleep from Santa Ana Dispensary Recreational Shop
Several cannabis strains can promote relaxation and aid in sleep. These strains are rich in compounds, like cannabinoids and terpenes that contribute to their sedative and calming effects. Keep in mind that individual responses to strains can vary, so it is important to experiment to find the one that works for you best.
Indica Strains
They are often associated with relaxation and sedation. For that reason, they are popular choices for bedtime use. You may opt for Granddaddy Purple. It is known for its grape and berry flavors. It is cherished for its ability to induce deep relaxation and tranquility.
Purple Kush, Afghan Kush, and Northern Lights are also celebrated for their soothing and euphoric effects. They will leave you feeling relaxed and sleepy.
Hybrid Strains
Some hybrid strains combine the relaxing effects of indicas with the uplifting qualities of sativa, creating a balanced experience that can promote relaxation without excessive sedation. Blue Dream, for instance, is a popular hybrid that offers gentle relaxation while maintaining a cerebral and euphoric quality, potentially aiding in calming the mind before you sleep.
Girl Scout Cookies is also ideal for sleep. It is known for its pleasant body relation and mood-enhancing effects. It makes it a potential choice for evening relaxation and helps you fall asleep quicker.
CBD-Dominant Strains
Cannabidiol is a non-psychoactive compound found in cannabis that has a range of potential therapeutic benefits. They include relaxation and anxiety reduction. CBD-dominant strains with a balanced ratio of CBD to THC may provide a Valium effect without the strong psychoactive impact.
It is vital to note that finding the right strain for sleep is a personal journey. Individual responses can vary based on factors such as dosage, tolerance, and overall health. If you are considering using cannabis for sleep, it is advisable that you start with a low dose and consult with a healthcare professional. This is especially true if you have underlying health conditions or are taking medications. Creating a calming bedtime routine that includes proper sleep hygiene practices can enhance the effects of cannabis strains and contribute to a more restful night’s sleep.
Can Edibles Help You Fall Asleep?
Yes, edibles can potentially help you fall asleep due to their longer-lasting and more gradual effects compared to smoking or vaping cannabis. Edibles are cannabis-infused products that you consume orally, such as gummies, chocolates, or baked goods. When ingested, the cannabinoids, primarily delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol(THC) and cannabidiol (CBD) are metabolized by the liver and converted into a more potent form. This process results in a slower onset of effects, typically taking anywhere from 30 minutes to a few hours to kick in.

Hello there! We are the collective that makes up the being known as Eddie Hydrangea.
It's nice to meet you!
Our catch-all pronouns are It/Its + He/Him + Xey/Xem.
Do not use They/Them for us as a whole, only for those comfortable with it. Please respect everyone's pronouns.
Please Commission Us if you can! Thank you!
There's some stuff you might want to know about our blog below.
Stuff you may want to know
We're in a polyamory with @lovecoreclownz and @evilneo. We interact with them the most out of anyone on this hellsite.
We have a carrd but it's always in constant need of updating.
We know it's listed up there already but WE HAVE TRAUMA WITH THE PRONOUNS THEY/THEM. Those were used to misgender us in the past by the body's brother when we specified He/Him to him. We'll try to correct you if you slip up, but we're anxious when it comes to correcting people. <- (Also a trauma thing.)
^ On that note, SOME alters use They/Them because the pronouns are either reclaimed or the alter didn't split holding that source of trauma. You can always check with an alter if it's okay to use those.
If you follow us there's a good chance we MAY follow back. It depends on what vibe you give us, but having a DNI is a big factor.
Our alters have a LOT of blogs. You can scroll further to find the list of all the sideblogs for alters we have lmao.
We have a few shared side blogs for various stuff.
Our art blog : @hydrangeas-art
HLVRAI reblogging spot : @assassinskillinghimmyfavorite
Blog where we make stimboards : @greatclassic989
Flight rising stuff : @hydflightrising
We are stuck in an abusive household and split often. If you fake claim us it's an insta-block. We don't have the time or spoons to deal with ableists thanks. (Also fake-claimers in general get blocked)
Anyone weird towards our introjects for any sort of reason will get a maximum of 3 warnings. We don't care if you're also a system, that shit is uncomfortable and won't be tolerated.
Examples of being weird : Treating an introject like your blorbo, Continuing to bring up triggering shit from source that you have been told is triggering, Sending ship art of the character the introject is without permission (Meaning sending the ship stuff directly to the introject fully knowing it's xem). Ask for more examples if needed.
We love to be messaged (Most of the time) and don't mind asks or DMs at all! Even if it's just for silly stuff! If it's a bad messaging day we'll let you know, okay? /g
Lastly, we like a lot of things and if we were to list them all it'd be a mile long list! If you're wondering if we like something just ask or search for the tag on our blog!

((RPer tip/reassurance since I feel like. A lot of you in the housamo rp/ask blog community may be new to this.
(and I'm not saying this because I think this is happening or because anyone told me it might be. I just remembered some things I've seen, y'know, in my day. Because I've been at this on and off more than half my life.)
TL;DR: as far as I'm aware the housamo rp/ask blog community is a bunch of independent rpers. That means you have no obligation to go along with anyone's interests but your own, anyone's headcanons but your own, or even to play with anyone you don't want to. We're not a set group of any sort, so there can be multiples, people's interests and perspectives aren't going to line up, etc. . .and that's fine!
Roleplay 'exclusivity' refers to the practice of only playing with certain people or only doing certain things with certain people(only playing with one particular version of a character; only shipping with one person or character or version ofna character; etc). It's common in roleplay groups--i.e.,among non-independent roleplayers--but it's also practiced among independents. These people are more likely to coordinated with/expect from one another alignment of headcanons, etc(although it's not always required/expected--it's up to the individual rpers!)
Please don't pressure anyone to conform to your own headcanons, ship with you, etc. Offering or asking or talking about it is fine if they're cool with it! Similarly, don't feel like you need to do anything you don't want to. It's your blog. We all have fun in different ways.
One of the joys of rping and ask blogs for me personally is seeing all the different ways people portray a character, a world, how different people write and depict things even if I don't agree/mesh well with them myself. Seeing different interpretations and especially seeing how those interpretations may mesh with each other. If everyone conformed to the same things out of some obligation, it just wouldn't feel as fun to me--and probably not to everyone involved either.
On that note, I never engage in exclusivity myself. It's not my thing. In general my only standards relate to shipping and, like, not being an ass.
Anyway longer post under the cut. If you ever have questions about rp stuff, I'm totally open to trying to answer them! 👍🏾
'independent' rpers are rpers who aren't affiliated with/attached to a group/other player. That doesn't mean they don't play with orher characters, just that they aren't obligated to play with anyone in particular or by any rules/regulating aside from their own.
Oftentimes in rp communities there are rp groups. These groups often require things like applications to get into(to see if you have a good handle of characterization, writing etc). Usually within these groups, everyone plays with each other and their characters' "official" depiction of/reference to other characters will refer to the corresponding character/rper in their group. Sometimes these groups have specific scenarios/timelines/aus/etc, especially if they're crossover groups, and the character exists within whatever the boundaries of that may be.
Sometimes these groups call for exclusivity--that is 'you do not use this character/account outside of this roleplay'.
Exclusivity and independence (or a lack of it) also applies to individual rpers/blogs/characters too. For example, there are two Azazel blogs that I'm aware of, my own and Azazel-One-Who-Sees-All(played by Eden-The-Moon-Dancer) If someone were to say they were exclucive with Eden's Azazel, they would not play with my Azazel(or in rarer cases any interaction with my Azazel would have the in character expectation that he act like Eden's, usually for comedic or dramatic dissonance) because 'their' Azazel is Eden's. Thus they wouls consider Eden's Azazel their 'canon' Azazel, and any references made on their blog to Asazel would be to Eden's. Exclusivity doesn't need to be mutual--if I were to say 'ChatWithAna is my MC' that doesn't mean Ana can only play with me. Grace is allowed to do whatever they want in terms of their blog and play with or not play with whoever they want.
Exclusivity isn't just character based. Some people exclusively ship with certain people(I've seen this among people who are in a relationship irl. . .in my experience it means there's something wrong if one or both partners don't feel comfortable letting the other write fictional relationships with other people. It's not always that way--some people only ship with people they're really close to because it's a quality/enjoyment control thing. But I've seen "my partner rped a ship with someone else and this counts as cheating on me" actually happen way too many times not to throw a red flag at it.) but will play with others. Some people don't play with multiples(people who play the same character as them) or people who play with other versions of their character(i.e. if I required exclusivity from people who played with me, I wouldn't play with someone who played with Eden's Azazel.)
However, especially in small communities of indie rpers like this one, please don't feel obligated to do or play something or with someone if it doesn't suit your fancy. You don't have to interact with other rpers at all if it suits you, just like you don't have to answer every ask if you don't like it.
Just because someone ships something or has certain headcanons doesn't mean you have to apply them to yourself or agree to go along with them. That expectation is for exclusive rpers and rp groups--and even then there's a limit to what's reasonable. We're all independent rpers. Please don't pressure anyone to act according to your interests or be exclusive with you if they aren't interested, and if you don't want to do something you can always say no, even if there are expectations in play! On that note, if someone says they're not interested in doing something with you, don't be discouraged! You're independent! You can still reference and enjoy it, it's just not for that person in particular.
Also having certain standards/being uncomfortable with certain things/etc isn'f exclusivity. It's okay to have certain standards(although you also need to understand that not everyone will be in alignment with them and it will likely reduce the amount of people who will/can play with you.) That's just having restrictions--most people have them on a 'rules' page that's linked for accessibility. You don't really get to complain about people not reading your rules if they can't find em lol. It's also okay to be super open and not really have any restrictions!
Just. Mind your manners and remember that this is supposed to be fun for you but you can't force anyone to have fun your way. Discuss things! See if things can be worked out/experimented with! But don't have any expectations and don't feel any obligations. I see this happen way more often with ships than anything.))

IT’S FINALLY DONE! Every year, the Rainbow Book List Committee has more books to review, because literature is slowing getting queerer, and children’s and YA lit are at the forefront of that change. This year, our committee of 13 people had to review nearly 500 eligible titles, and 130 (well, 129) were good enough and queer enough to make the list. There were so many terrific books that we got a special dispensation to create TWO Top Ten lists--the first time the committee has done so! The Top Tens are below, and please visit the link above for the full list.
I’m proud of our committee’s focus on diversity--along lines of race, ethnicity, queer identity, and even genre. At least half of the Top Ten Books for Young Readers and seven of the Top Ten for Teen Readers are about characters of color, and most of those were written by authors of color. We also tried to feature as many different letters of the alphabet soup as possible. I’ve noted the racial and LGBTQIA+ rep for the books that I’ve read.
Here are the Top Ten Books for Young Readers:
Ana on the Edge by Sass, A.J. Ages 8 to 12. Sports Fiction/Figure Skating. MC is nonbinary and Jewish-Chinese-American.
Ana is a champion figure-skater. She hates her new princess-themed program, but how can she tell her mother that, when it cost so much money? And why does it bother her so much, anyway? When she finds the word ‘nonbinary,’ she realizes why the program doesn’t fit, but she still has a lot of work to do repairing relationships that have suffered in the meantime.
The Deep & Dark Blue by Smith, Niki. Ages 8 to 12. Fantasy. One of 2 MCs is a trans girl, all characters appear to be Southeast Asian.
A pair of twins flee after a political coup that puts their lives at risk. They decide to disguise themselves as Hanna and Grayce, two girls living in the Communion of the Blue, an order of weaving women who spin magic like wool. What one twin doesn’t know is that, for the other, being Grayce isn’t a disguise. This is a beautiful story about self-discovery, acceptance, and affirmation.
Drawing on Walls: A Story of Keith Haring by Burgess, Matthew and Josh Cochran (Illustrator). Ages 6 to 14. Biography. MC is a white gay man.
This colorful picture-book biography traces the life and art of Keith Haring.
The Every Body Book: LGBTQ+ Inclusive Guide for Kids about Sex, Gender, Bodies, and Families by Simon, Rachel E. and Noah Grigni (Illustrator). Ages 8 to 12. Nonfiction/Health. Various identities and races included.
Filled with self-affirming information, The Every Body Book uses inclusive language, illustrations, and facts to cover a number of important topics for young people including consent, relationships, gender, sex, puberty, and hormones.
King and the Dragonflies by Callender, Kacen. Ages 8 to 12. Realistic Fiction. MC is a gay black boy, his best friend is a gay white boy.
King’s family–especially his father–have strong opinions about what it means to be a Black man, and they don’t allow for being gay. But King admires his friend Sandy for escaping an abusive home and living his truth no matter what. If King comes out, too, can his father learn to change?
Magic Fish by Nguyen, Trung Le. Ages 12 and up. Realistic Fiction/Fantasy. MC is a gay Vietnamese-American boy.
A young Vietnamese-American boy literally can’t find the words to tell his parents that he’s gay, but cross-cultural fairytales help bridge the language barrier in this beautifully-illustrated graphic novel.
My Maddy by Pitman, Gayle E. and Violet Tobacco (Illustrator). Ages 4-8. Realistic Fiction. MC’s parent is nonbinary, MC and her parent are white.
My Maddy is a heartwarming story about a young girl and her parent. Readers learn that not all parents are boys or girls; some parents are just themselves. In this young girl’s case, that parent is her Maddy, a loving, caring parent who lives outside the gender binary.
My Rainbow by Neal, DeShanna, Trinity Neal, and Art Twink (Illustrator). Ages 4-8. Realistic Fiction. MC is an autistic black trans girl.
Autistic trans girl Trinity wants to have long hair, but growing it out is too itchy! None of the wigs in the store are quite right, so Mom makes Trinity a special rainbow wig.
Our Subway Baby by Mercurio, Peter and Leo Espinosa (Illustrator). Ages 4 to 8. Adoption Non-fiction. MCs are white gay men, the baby they adopt is Black.
Loving illustrations help tell the story of how an infant abandoned in a NYC subway station was adopted by the man who found him and his partner.
Snapdragon by Leyh, Kat. Snapdragon. Ages 10 to 14. Fantasy. Haven’t read this one yet, so I can’t comment on its representation.
Snap gets to know the town witch and discovers that she may in fact have real magic and a secret connection to Snap’s family’s past.
And here are the Top Ten Books for Teen Readers:
All Boys Aren’t Blue: A Memoir-Manifesto by Johnson, George M. Ages 14 to 18. Memoir. Author/MC is a gay Black man.
“Memoir-manifesto” is a well-chosen label for this book, which relates stories from the author’s childhood and young adulthood and contextualizes them within a queer Black experience. Although the author’s family is loving and supportive, pervasive heteronormativity, queerphobia, and anti-Black racism threaten his mental, emotional, and physical safety.
Camp by Rosen, L.C. Ages 14 and up. Realistic Fiction. MC and his love interest are gay Jewish boys.
For Randy, going away to Camp Outland is a breath of fresh air, a time to be exactly who Randy can’t always be at school. But this year will be different. This year, Randy won’t be the flamboyant theater kid, this year Randy will be exactly the type of bro Hudson would want to date. Changing a thing or too will be necessary for Randy to succeed, even if that means leaving some friends behind.
Cemetery Boys by Thomas, Aiden. Ages 13 and up. Paranormal/Romance. MC is a trans Latino, his love interest is a gay Latino.
Yadriel accidentally summons the wrong ghost in an attempt to prove himself a real brujo to his family who struggle to accept his gender identity. Though he thinks he is summoning the ghost of his cousin, he actually summons the ghost of Julian Diaz, and finds himself with not one, but two, mysterious deaths to investigate.
Circus Rose by Cornwell, Betsy. Ages 12 and up. Fantasy. One MC is white and one is mixed-race, one is a lesbian and one is questioning.
Ivory and Rosie are twins and half-sisters, born to a bearded woman who refused to choose between her lovers, and raised in their mother’s circus. After a long foreign tour, they come home to find themselves under attack by religious zealots. As tragedy follows tragedy, will Ivory be able to save her circus family?
Elatsoe by Little Badger, Darcie and Rovina Cai (Illustrator). Ages 12 and up. Mystery. MC is an aro/ace Lipan Apache girl.
In this OwnVoices novel, Elatsoe is on a mission to discover who killed her beloved cousin, and why. If not for her cousin, then she is doing this for her people, the Indigenous Lipan Apache tribe. Elatsoe has the ability to raise ghosts from the dead, a tradition that has been passed down through generations. On this journey it will take vulnerability, wit, and the legends of her people for Elatsoe to understand all that is hidden in the small town of Willowbee.
I’ll Be the One by Lee, Lyla. Ages 13 and up. Realistic Fiction. MC is a bi Korean-American girl, her love interest is a bi Korean boy.
Skye Shin dreams of becoming the world’s first plus-sized K-pop star, and a reality TV competition may just be her chance. To win, she’ll have to deal with fatphobic beauty standards, fierce competition, and intense media scrutiny–as well as unexpected attraction to one of her competitors.
Miss Meteor by Mejia, Tehlor Kay and Anna-Marie McLemore. Ages 14 and up. Magical Realism. (I haven’t read this one, but I think both MCs are WLW Latinas.)
Lita is a star – literally. After falling to earth several years ago, she’s now living life as a teenage girl. When the annual Miss Meteor pageant rolls around, Lita decides to enter – but will her ex-best friend Chicky be willing to help her? Will the pageant help her forget about the past and imagine a new future? Lita learns that winning isn’t about being perfect, it’s about showing your true self to the world – even the parts that no one else understands.
You Should See Me in a Crown by Johnson, Leah. Ages 12 and up. Realistic Fiction. MC is a black WLW (woman-loving-woman).
In this affectionate rom-com, Liz Lighty finds herself an unlikely candidate for prom queen at her affluent suburban school. Shy, awkward, Black, and low-income, Liz has never felt like she belonged, and she can’t wait to leave for her dream college. But when her scholarship falls through, it seems her last resort is to win prom queen, and the scholarship money that comes with it. Liz’s plan is complicated when new girl Mack decides to run for prom queen also…and ends up running away with Liz’s heart.
War Girls by Onyebuchi, Tochi. Ages 12 and up. Science Fiction/Afro-Futurism. Both MCs are Nigerian, one is a WLW.
In a not-so-distant future, climate change and nuclear disasters have made much of the earth unlivable. Let me know everything you’ve got about Ana and her relationships with everyone!!
Who’s her favorite person? What do you think her relationship with Fareeha is like? I love relationship dynamics, and I adore Ana, so anything you’ve got, let it rip.
I can’t believe you’d let me do this. This is my favorite thing to talk about. Read more because it’s long and very rambly
Most of how I interpret and relate to Ana is informed by the fact I HC that she’s really, really good at people at arms length because of some misunderstood urge to help. This lady is so capable and so many people depend on her and sometimes she internalized that in a very negative, ‘can’t ask for help ever’ kind of way - one of my favorite dynamics for her is her friendship with Soldier because I think they’re both this exact type of person and they’re the only ones allowed to call each other out on it. There’s a lot of gently padding the other’s shoulder to tell them ‘it’s okay to ask for help when you need it’ and the other responding with a ‘YOU WALKED AROUND ON A BROKEN LEG FOR THREE DAYS WITHOUT TELLING ME BECAUSE YOU THOUGHT IT WAS AN INCONVINIENCE!’. Who is playing what part differs from week to week.
Generally I am utterly charmed by her and Jack’s relationship. I don’t know if he’s her favorite person in the world - I think she’d have a hard time answering that in general. But I love them for this idea that they are each other’s softness? Before the fall, there was time for being soft - Gabe was soft with both of them and Rein treated Ana so well, kind and good and goofy, even Angela had the good sense to force her into a hug when they’d both been in the med bay for decidedly too long. Most of it burned away when she decided to disappear and it’s only when her and Jack team up again it’s reintroduced into her life. One of my longest standing and most dear headcanons is that Ana and Jack are very physically affectionate with each other. They bump shoulder’s and steady each other and put their heads in each other’s laps because a person needs that - they need that - and they’ve known each other for so long there are no questions and no shame in it.
I have some old, obscure post that’s like ‘Gabe is Ana’s rock because he can tell when she’s overwhelmed and assures her he’ll always be there to back her up. Ana is Jack’s rock because she’s warm and kind when he gets bugged down in the statistics and non-personal aspects of saving the world. Jack is Gabe’s rock because he’s stubbornly insistent on a better world when Gabe’s faith waivers’ and yeah it was a joke but that is genuinely still how I feel about them. Ana loved those two like brothers and best friends and in all the painful, complicated ways you can love somebody and what she has(/had) with them was blindingly special and she misses Gabe so much. He was her fucking safety net and she watched him fall from grace.
As for Fareeha I obviously do think Ana loves her, so much it pains her sometimes and everything she did was fueled by love and protectiveness. But that insistent need to carry every burden alone was what tore them apart. I really, really hope they add more content between these two because this kind of relationship is rarely depicted with the kind of grace and intricacy I think they could approach it with. Ana doubtlessly traumatized her daughter in some way but she’s also a deeply sympathetic character with very solid motives for everything she’s done. I really hope they don’t just throw all this lovely setup out the window.
On a lighter note I am an absolute sucker for the idea that the rest of the overwatch crew was present in Fareeha’s life. That’s uncle Gabe and other uncle Jack and Rein was probably just ‘Beinard’ or some other baby speech approximation of his name from how much he says it himself. Most of them also had a fine relation with Sam - as did Ana even after the divorce.
When I want to feel bad, I like to think she - in her darker moments - somehow wish she hadn’t let them all so close, let them all be her family in all other ways than blood because it hurt that much more to let them go. Most of the older overwatch folk probably entertain the idea of ‘maybe if I hadn’t invested so much?’ in the bleaker times, but Ana is especially bad at it. Lord knows she never had a choice but to love them.

It’s the end of the work week and, well...
I’m having thoughts on labor culture.
My father was born in 1958. He lived as the son of an absent father of five children who had no ability to truthfully express his love and care, and who instead chose to bury himself in work as a means to display his commitment. My paternal grandfather made and sold mattressees and died quite young of a cancer strain that today would’ve seemed benign. He was described as a hard worker, either up to his neck in his business or wanting just a scant few hours per day to himself. It made an aloof lover out of him and a distant father - who still loved his wife and children to bits but who felt emotionally castrated in a sense, as were men of the era.
The family consensus is that his work killed him.
My father is now 65 and survived a bout of Non-Hodgkinian Lymphoma. The oncologist and anyone with half a brain agreed that stress was the culprit. Early on, Dad had the family as an excuse for his tendency to overwork. He had to provide for us, after all, and garnish my mother’s meagre savings. All she has is her government-issued pension plan, while my father does have his own pension as a retiree of the City of Montreal’s Real-Estate Appraisal service. Considering, he felt obligated to pull a heavier load to bring in more, so they’d have better investment opportunities. Later on, he kept working out of a sense of fealty and attachment to his division, breaking out of retirement during the pandemic to join the work-from-home team. He wanted to help techs and city officials find ways to bring more of the traditionally snail-mail-based parts of the system online so the city’s Land Management service wouldn’t be paralyzed by COVID-19. What was supposed to be a single month turned into four, which turned into twelve.
By the end, they were begging him to stay on the team and to pull longer hours. We’re talking twenty hours per day, in some particularly grueling stretches. That means being logged in by breakfast and scarfing bagels down with Urban Design techs on Zoom instead of your own family, or having supper with your boss because she needs a play-by-play of the situation to stave off her executive anxiety.
Long story short, I didn’t see Dad much during the first wave. His reasoning was that he’d eventually stop, pool all this cash, and chuck it into his and Mom’s Registered Retirement Savings Account - with maybe an extra two thou or so in case the country reopened enough for their postponed trip to Cuba to take place.
Guess what? His zona flared up and he ended up with odd, shingly bumps along his scalp which to this day the local dermatologist grimaces at and tentatively has us dab with cortisone cream.
Mom, though? She’s a retired and registered nurse with a self-negating streak and a chronic propensity to undervalue her own physical ailments. Someone who quite literally understands the pain of busted hips on a clinical level because she was trained in Gerontology - and also someone who refuses to schedule an appointment with her GP and who inexplicably self-medicates with white wine.
As for me, I’m a 37 year-old man with a paycheck I consider massive with its meagre six bucks above the minimum-wage threshold - someone who chose to shack in with his folks until the current crisis ends and who therefore has a history of a single, willingly terminated apartment lease that originally began in the Planned Housing market. The apartment I want is basically a Barbie doll house for adults, a gleaming fantasy I’ll never have enough capital to touch unless I feel like trying my hand with criminal applications of my skills. The apartment I can get right now is a shithole, and I have the audacity to think I deserve a shithole that at least wasn’t someone’s former cockroach den.
Now here’s the kicker: I value my sanity and my health. I know my mental stamina levels and I know from experience that after working seven-point-five hours per day with the occasionally shorter Friday, I’ve found my limit. I could invest more if I worked more, yes, and I’m already in a better position than my parents, retirement-wise. I’ll never be rich, but I’m already set to be comfortable, provided I don’t spend my golden years trying to make it as an unsponsored TechTuber or anything else thats equally ludicrous.
Where that’s a problem is in the toxicity this is generating. See, I have the gall to slide my daily schedule later so I can start at an hour that fits my biological clock and ends at an hour where I’m at my most creative. That means the folks saw me spending my pandemic mornings on Animal Crossing while Dad was trying to wrangle Excel spreadsheets for non-tech-savvy fellow Boomers while preventing the dog from eating his meeting notes. That means they guzzled vinho verde like it was Kool-Aid after seven while I made sure to find more concrete means to distance myself from work - ideally ones that didn’t involve functional alcoholism.
Naturally, what was bound to happen, happened: Dad soon spent his evenings calling me shiftless or “unwilling to commit”, while I was stuck watching him miss all the cues his stressed-out body were sending him. We already had Trump’s last desperate months and a global plague to handle, I really didn’t want my work to turn into more of a nuisance than it already is. I already love the people I work for and hate what I do (repeating the family cycle, it seems), but I’ve at least decided to give myself ample Me time every single day.
I’ve paired that with smaller, if consistent portfolio investments, along with a few new habits I wanted to get into to stay saner. Dad pulls crosswords or plays competitive chess in the wee hours, while I usually lay down to meditate around midnight and fall asleep by 1 AM at the latest. I’m half-expecting my father to pull a Tyler Durden and to sneer at me, at some point. “Self-care is masturbation,” he’d probably say.
Looking at classifieds for rentals, it’s obvious that the entire system is predicated on abuse. Work yourself down to the therapist’s office, right down to the fucking bone, and you just might earn a half-decent retirement because nobody’s taught you to invest incrementally. Nope, Society seems to say, you’re supposed to buy, buy and buy some more, until you realize you have ten years left to start from scratch!
I remember Dad’s face on my eighteenth birthday. “Why would you want a Disability Care Savings Account, Brain? You just turned into a legal adult by Canadian standards - you’re in no rush, right?”
I told him the real gift I wanted for my birthday, that day, was a ride to the family’s Financial Investments counsel. I pulled up the PDFs I’d printed out and filled and brought them over. From then on, if I dropped a penny in my nest-egg, Ottawa would drop another one. If my share grew, so did the government’s. In the twenty-odd years since, it’s expanded exponentially.
Dad thought I’d done this to have a big cushion by the time I’d retire. Mom thought I’d done this in case my disability worsened and I started requiring equipment or physical assistance. Honestly, my dumb, if slightly prescient eighteen year-old self figured I’d rather spend my time reading or playing video games than working. I knew I’d need something to help cushion my admittedly low career-related ambitions. I might throw several thousands at a new computer every seven to eight years, but that’s because I’ve saved them up for just as long, little by little. I have no vices beyond what sillicon offers and what you’d find in the pages of a book and don’t exactly need a big ‘ol, stonkin’ humidor stuffed with conoisseur stogies.
I have a shoebox with a poked-out Ziploc bag and a sponge, with a handful of joints and a few Santa Anas I got off of a buyer’s pool from work. Five of us occasional chair-bar goons pooled cash together on Cigar Chief and cushioned prices with a single, shared and massive order. I’m nowhere near rich, but assuming the housing market can catch its breath eventually, I’ll be able to live modestly - with one or two markers of occasional luxury I’ll have chosen.
I have a shittier job than my father has had and I’ve chosen to be happier than him. It’s just sad that the usual response elevates overwork as the supposedly one, true way to leave a mark in society.
No, Dad. I don’t want to die while my own cells eat me alive, I want to die blazed out of my fucking mind, happy because I’ll have had time to enjoy my friends’ company and to finally make some sense out of Kerouac’s Subterraneans or to figure out what the fuck is going on in Joyce’s Illiad. I’ll die crusty as shit and fulfilled as a Pop Culture jockey, because I’ll have either finished Persona 5: Golden in my lifetime or I’ll have watched the entirety of the MCU’s output before Disney finally manages to kill their golden goose.
I want to die decades from now, feeling like I at least owned my choices and didn’t spend my time tethered to someone else’s professional expectations of me.
