I shape you under my fingers [Miguel O'Hara X Gn!Reader]
Miguel O'Hara x Gn!Reader Words: 2442 Warning: none Summary: Miguel O'Hara is a stressed man who just need to relax. What's better than a massage?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Miguel O'Hara was a careful, alert and intelligent man, but also a proud blowhard. With you, however, it was different: in your company he enjoyed every moment, every word, every touch, your every look.
You had gotten to know each other better shortly after being recruited by him to join the Spider Society and after a short period of bickering, your eagerness and interest in trying to get closer to him had led you to begin a simple relationship in the dark. Not that it was hard to imagine what you did together all that time when you disappeared from everyone and everything.
Miguel's difficulty lay mostly in having to make peace with himself in order to start trusting someone again, to be sure that the Multiverse would not be compromised if you took time for yourself. And on top of that there was the mess that had happened with Gabriella from Earth-968B, when he lost that one spark of happiness that had allowed him, even if only for a short time, to trust someone, to be able to love.
But after what had happened, how could he be able to love again? True, it had taken him months, years before he met you, but now that you were part of his world, it would be difficult to let you go. He had to understand that, step by step, it would all work out, he had to trust and you were there for that too.
A recently finished mission had brought back, through several portals, several wounded Spiders, some more severely and some less so. You looked carefully for Miguel in the crowd and saw him come out with Jess as the last one before the portal closed. On seeing him without injuries you breathed a sigh of relief.
"Miguel!" you called to him as you approached "What happened? You're not hurt anywhere are you?" you took his arms and moved them back and forth, checking his entire body.
With a slight tug Miguel told you to let him go "It's ok" he replied in a serious voice, but with a slight tinge of breathlessness. His eyes were locked on the other spiders and his hard shoulders locked forward. You watched him more carefully as he walked away with Jess who had meanwhile waved goodbye.
Not that it was such a strange thing to see him stressed and tired after a mission, especially if it was one that hadn't gone as well as you hoped, but one way or another seeing him like that was always unnerving. You wanted and were there for him so being shunted off like that was hardly the thanks you would expect. You huffed audibly and set to work trying to help the medical team in charge. At that moment Miguel had better be left alone and take some time to calm his hot temper.
The day went on quietly. You lent a hand in escorting those who were in the slightest need of assistance to the infirmary, while the seriously wounded were quickly taken under the knife and operated on. Not that you were a doctor, not at all, but it was a way to make yourself a little more useful, especially when there was nothing else to do.
You checked your watch in the infirmary and since it was already past six o'clock in the afternoon, you began to think that maybe it was time to take a break and think about going back to your Earth. Staying so far away every time was not a good thing since crime never rested and you were canonically the only Spider in your world and in Brooklyn.
You walked towards the exit after greeting the staff in the room and just before you stepped outside the door you noticed a set of small bottles on a bedside table. A brilliant idea came to you, and when you asked a nurse if you could borrow them and she said yes, you quickly picked them up and almost ran out the door.
Miguel had asked you several times to stay the night. At first he had left you a key to one of the rooms in the headquarters, but as your relationship grew, it was needless to say that key was of less and less use. Instead, he had given you a copy of his so that you could enter as often as you wanted and when you wanted, without commitment.
Quietly you walked towards the sleeping quarters, where you knew Miguel would be resting. With all his good will it was almost impossible, even for him, to concentrate when it was obvious he was so tired. You climbed the stairs leading to the rooms and once in front of his door you knocked lightly. Three times, as he had asked you to do.
You waited a few seconds before the door opened slightly, leaving room only for Miguel's head to peep in.
"Yo" you greeted him with a sincere smile.
"What is it?" the voice heavy and sleepy, tired. You could tell from his eyes so dull that the mission had been more trouble than usual and one way or another this had not been good for his health, mental and physical. Although it was unnerving, you knew he wasn't doing it on purpose to answer you like that.
"May I come in? I'd like to spend some time together..." you looked at him with a smile still on your face.
You saw him watching you carefully before letting out a slight snort and opening the door to let you in. Without even waiting for you he turned around and went back to lie on the bed where he had been before. The sight was interesting to say the least: with only the trousers of a black tracksuit on, his bare back was completely in view.
"Thank you," you thanked as you entered and closed the door behind you. Your room was simple, nothing fancy: the large bed against one wall, two bedside tables to the side. Near the entrance was a desk full of paperwork and various objects, while on the opposite side was a large wardrobe. There was nothing decorative and the large windows were part of the time always closed so as not to let in any light as your eyes suffered.
You left the two small bottles you had borrowed from the infirmary on one of the two bedside tables as you settled on the edge of the bed, next to Miguel. You watched him carefully breathing, his body stiff as a piece of wood. You reached out a hand to rest it on the nape of his neck and slowly ran it through his hair. As soon as you touched him you noticed a visible change in his posture, which became slightly more relaxed.
"Are you alright...?" you asked carefully, continuing to stroke him with slow movements. The only reply you received was a simple, monotonous, tired and slightly annoyed mumbling.
"I noticed that the mission was more difficult than you expected. I saw that you seemed to be more exhausted than usual," your hand moved calmly along his neck making a light pressure that Miguel accepted with pleasure making his face disappear more into the pillows. He nodded slightly at your words.
"I got some oils from the infirmary," you left your seat for a moment to reach for the small bottles you had brought "I brought them because they are the same ones that doctors and nurses use for physiotherapy massages," you leaned your head forward to better see a possible reaction from Spider Man. "Would you like that?" you asked.
Another mumbling made its way to your ears, this time seeming to be decidedly more relaxed, signifying a green light. In one hand you took one of the two flasks and twisted the cap to open it. A strong but pleasant smell of lavender reached your nostrils. You poured some of the contents onto your hands and began to turn them over to grease the entire surface well.
Carefully you got up from your seat at the edge of the bed and just as carefully moved one leg over her bottom and straddled her. A slight mumble left Miguel as he felt your weight on him, you noticed that his hips shifted slightly forward, lifting you slightly. A sneer made its way onto your lips.
It was difficult to have to pay attention to what you had to do when your view at that moment was only focused on her perfect back. But after allowing a few seconds to pass, you shifted your weight forward and slowly placed your hands on his shoulders, at the neckline. At the contact of your oiled, cold hands with his back, Miguel shivered slightly.
You let him get a little used to your presence and when you saw him relax his shoulders, you began to apply pressure with your thumbs on the muscles that were so visibly tense and stiff. Back and forth, your hands travelled all along his back, first in a single area, then spreading wider and wider in simple but effective movements.
With Miguel's face pressed between the pillows of his bed, it was difficult for you to see his face and expressions so the only way was to rely on every single little movement his body made in reaction to the points you massaged.
You ran your hands over his shoulders, first inwards, sliding your thumbs down to his hairline, then outwards and down along his spine to his lower back. Contrary to what you might have thought, Miguel's skin was not as tough as his character, it was instead much smoother and softer.
Numerous were the scars. Signs of the many battles against the enemies of his Earth and all those falls and blows he had taken during his career as Spider Man.
With a slight shake of your head you returned your focus to the work at hand. Your thumbs lingered in your lower back and moving your body forward you put a lot of pressure on the very spot you knew, and felt, to be stiffest. In an instant Miguel's hands flew to your thighs, tightening the fabric and flesh in a tight but careful grip. Your whole body suddenly stiffened. A stifled moan came like music to your ears.
"Found the sore spot," you giggled, continuing to massage the lumbar area applying the same pressure, meeting the knot several times.
Watching him closely you could see his back trembling slightly. His breathing muffled by the pillows and the sheets made it faintly audible.
You moved your hands upwards again and then lightly downwards again, squeezing the spot where the knot was. Passing your thumbs over the same area several times, you noticed that each time Miguel let out a moan and his hands tightened more firmly on your thighs.
You leaned your face forward and with astonishment and pleasure noticed a slight red colour at the tip of your ears. You said nothing to avoid a possible grumpy response, but you grinned to yourself, amused. Your hands reached up to my shoulder blades and lingered there for a few seconds before resuming their way along my shoulders and the base of my neck. At first stiff, his hands released their strong grip on you, never completely detaching.
Your fingers moved along the length of his neck until they reached his hairline and pressed lightly, in circular movements, right there.
Miguel visibly relaxed, a sign that this was one of the best places I could find. His shoulders relaxed noticeably and you felt his whole body almost melt under your weight. His back slowly widened, a sign of deep breathing.
You circled around that spot for several minutes. Up and down, up and down. Clockwise and anticlockwise, working to the best of your ability. Again as before you went further down, first on your shoulders and shoulder blades, widening also along your arm, then going down again along your spine.
And as before, the lower you went, the more pressure you applied. Miguel on the other hand could do nothing but stiffen again. His hands again desperately clinging to your thighs. Another stifled moan, followed by a snort held in his lungs.
"Hey stop!" you called back, giggling when you nearly fell off his back from a too sudden movement.
His face half peeped out from the pillows. A strong layer of redness adorned his skin from the tip of his nose to his ears. Glassy eyes with wide pupils searched almost desperately. A faint trickle of saliva fell from his lips, which desperately let in more air than his lungs could hold. You watched him carefully as you felt a warmth run through your entire back, the hair at the base of your nape standing up at the sight.
"What's going on, Miguel?" you whispered in his ear once you leaned forward. A mischievous smile on your face. His response was just an almost annoyed mumbling and the quick escape of your face back into the middle of the pillows.
To torment him some more, I decided to repeat the same process as before and again move my hands along the entire spine to the lumbar region and then apply pressure with clockwise and anti-clockwise movements. Slowly, gently but precisely.
"Hmm..." Music to the ears.
"You seem to be pretty stressed in this spot, you know?" you teased him amusedly. Miguel did not speak. For a moment you thought he had started biting the pillow so hard so as not to make any noise, that you would probably find the holes later.
You massaged for a few more minutes all along his back, but at the umpteenth time you teased him, in an instant you found yourself thrown off his back. Miguel, in fact, moved so quickly that you didn't even notice. In an instant you found yourself with your back on the mattress and him on top of you, visibly red in the face.
"Yes?" you grinned at him amused.
"I'd say we can stop here," he looked you straight in the eyes, glassy as before but with a hint of lust that made them glow brighter.
"I feel like I did a good job, you know? I must have untied all your knots,' you thought aloud, smiling innocently as you knew Miguel barely held back an annoyed snort.
In an instant he was closer to you than before, his lips brushing against your ear.
"I think it's my turn now."

Cardigans and bubblegum
Summary: Interference with the multiverse invokes consequences in other dimensions. Not long after returning to his own universe, Peter meets someone very much like himself, only he's used to the whole superpowers thing and she's… well, incredibly fresh.
Pairing: tasm!Peter Parker x OC (she/her); fluff, banter.
Warnings: violence, blood, nothing too graphic.
Written for @wicked-remarks ‘s October challenge “Wicked’s Kink or Treat”, under the first meeting prompt/trope. Seems like two days ago I had nothing and then madness rose from a severe caffeine binge.
--------------------------------------
Peter never thought that buying antiseptic at 4 p.m. on a Monday would set in motion an absolutely deranged course of events, but alas, there he was: in the first aid section of a Duane Reade when he caught a scent that had him metaphorically on the tips of his toes.
It was strange, yet deliriously irresistible. Mind addled and lizard brain fully in control, his sixth sense was not helping either, making him warm all over and pushing his legs in the direction of the snack aisle.
Besides his own mind, the only other loud thing in the entire store was the frilly pink cardigan that entered his view once he rounded the corner. Rows upon rows of extravagantly colorful treats, yet the single most striking hue was draped over a young woman's shoulders, bright and explosive like the fight he'd just come out of.
On account of it being broken, his nose was not, in fact, working at full capacity, but even with that obstacle, it was impossible to mistake the source of that scent for anything else. It was coming from her.
He didn't get to stare for a long time, as she turned to face him without prompting.
Pretty.
Her judgment of him, however, was probably along the lines of creepy, because he had yet to justify his presence. He couldn't even if he tried, because the chaos in his mind pulled every nerve tight. His brain was vibrating in a strange pattern, something he'd only experienced once in his life. He was sure to never forget the way it felt to be yanked into another universe.
"Uhh… can I help you?"
Also scary.
Something about her tone of voice resurrected vivid memories, most of them dating back to high school. His mind was flashing the words queen bee in neon green - oddly, the same color as the vomit forcefully expelled from his body when Kayla McAdams humiliated him for stumbling into her at lunch. Freshman year wasn't something he reminisced about fondly.
Shaking off the pins and needles, he took a second to find something less than imbecile to say in greeting.
"Hi! Sorry about that. That was weird. I just haven't… seen you around before."
Maybe closer to imbecile than he initially thought. It showed on her face.
"It's a city of eight million people," she said slowly, looking around as if wanting to escape - or get help. Either way, Peter felt awkward for it.
"Yeah, I know. I know. I just meant that, well -"
He stopped himself. What was he supposed to say to her? Hi, sorry - you're just sort of making me feel like I've been electrocuted. Trust me, I know what that's like. What? No, I'm not flirting with you.
"Are you ok?"
He wasn't sure what she was asking. Was it the strange behavior or his messed up face that the inquiry referred to? Admittedly, he probably looked awful, having crawled his way out of a fight on the other side of the city just an hour ago.
He gathered more of his wayward thoughts in the hopes of communicating something intelligible. His hands were itching at his sides.
"I don't mean for this to sound weird, but do you, by any chance, uh… "
Maybe he had a concussion. It was very possible. Maybe it wasn't even real, what he was feeling. He could've just been hallucinating, or his senses could've gone haywire from the fight and needed time to settle down.
"You smell weird," she said curtly.
Another flash of neon green. This was not going well.
"I don't know why I said that. Fuck."
She was looking anywhere but at him, and for a moment, Peter was relieved. He didn't care about her comment at the same time that it was the most important thing he'd heard so far. While he usually did smell all sorts of ways after spending time in the suit, this was one of the miraculous few instances when he knew that it wasn't the case. He'd showered, for goodness' sake. If he still reeked of sewer, he'd be able to smell it on himself, but he couldn't. And yet, she could.
"What do I smell like?" he laughed breathily. She smelled like bubblegum and early winter.
The woman shook her head, hands dropping to her sides while her gaze settled on the rows of candy to her left.
"Sorry, that was rude. You smell fine - I'm just having a bit of a weird day. Or week, you know. Probably in for a weird life. Anyway, forget I said anything," she said, much to Peter's appreciation.
Interesting.
"Hey, no judgment. Same here. Weird life - could say that again."
It could've been him finally sounding less deranged that made her shoulders drop into a more relaxed posture. Her eyes returning to him was also encouraging. He didn't know what he was finding in them, but he couldn't look away.
"I don't mean to pry - and you don't have to answer - but what did you mean when you said I smell weird?" he asked, shifting his weight as he took a few steps forward. His senses were acutely aware of the increased proximity. They were definitely pointing at her, but he didn't know why.
His question had her lips pressing together as she paused chewing the bubblegum, only to unexpectedly pop it with nonchalance.
"I really didn't mean anything by it," she said, busying herself with studying the different brands on offer, one hand on the edge of the shelf and the other browsing. With her half-turned away, Peter took another step forward. She tensed. Her fingers were twitching over the packet of Nerds, but the rest of her was as still as a sculpture. Moments passed silently.
"Are you ok?" Peter asked, returning her earlier question.
Her breathing was so shallow that Peter backed away instinctively, thinking he creeped her out and feeling bad for it for all of five seconds. He watched as she took the colorful candy from the shelf with great care. He thought she'd go to drop it in the small basket by her feet, but her hand hesitated over it - once, twice and then her eyes got wider and she dropped the hand back by her side.
She looked at him with an awkward smile, trying to appear relaxed when she was everything but. It was sort of comical, and if Peter didn't know better, he might've shrugged and moved on.
It was hard to do when the candy stayed stuck to her visibly slack hand. Oh boy.
"Need some help there?" Peter asked. He wasn't bothering with masking anything anymore, not when his nerve endings were singing with the need to just do something. The familiarity of the situation he was looking at couldn't be ignored, and neither could her distress. He was aware that part of it was due to his presence, and he wanted to let her know she didn't need to be scared.
"No, I'm good. Peachy," she breathed out. Her left hand was still on the edge of the shelf, and she was trying to make it look like she was casually leaning against it. Peter shoved down an involuntary snicker.
"You sure?"
"Yeah, just, you know. Rough week."
Yeah. He knew. Which was why he couldn't leave her to deal with it alone.
"I could show you how to get unstuck, if you want," he said, motioning to her left hand.
Silence. Her smile vanished.
"I'm not stuck," she declared with a scoff.
"Yeah… you're pretty stuck.", he chuckled. Briefly clearing his throat, Peter took a few steps forward with his hands raised and palms open to show he meant no harm. He was glad the store was as dead mid-afternoon as it was at two in the morning, sweet spots he'd learned by heart.
Her reaction wasn't convincingly unbothered, but she stood up straighter and pulled her shoulders back. The fingers of her right hand were again twitching at her side and rustling the plastic wrapping of the candy, which Peter knew usually came in a tiny cardboard box. A new flavor. Hm.
Step after tiny step, he approached with care usually reserved for frightened animals and was glad when it paid off. Now only a foot away, both of them were locked in a hypnotic stare. Peter's eyes took in each and every flicker of her own as she studied his face with unbroken concentration. He couldn't help feeling like they were having a conversation entirely in their heads, and his spidey sense told him things he didn't even know how to decipher. His mouth felt dry.
"Here," he said quietly, lifting his right hand and slowly, gently placing it over her left on the shelf. An electrical current traveled along his spine the moment they touched, and it seemed she felt it too. The eye contact had not yet been broken by either of them.
"One finger at a time, yeah? Relax, breathe out, and focus on my skin," he paused. Then, "That sounded weird. Sorry."
She didn't say anything in return, but it was a good sign that she hadn't stopped him at any point and seemed to listen to his instructions. One by one, he felt her digits shift beneath his palm as they uncoupled from the shelf. Once he knew they were all clear, he slowly brought their hands away, the back of hers nestled in his palm.
Seconds ticked by with only the background music of the store to fill the silence. No one moved.
"Hi. I'm Peter," he said on a long exhale.
"I'm Maya."
A smile tugged at his lips.
"Hi," he repeated.
"How did you know - "
"Same way you do. It's a sixth sense. It's going off right now, isn't it?”
The young woman nodded once, and her eyes were studying him just as much as his were flitting across her face.
"You're making my brain itch," she said bluntly, to which Peter chuckled, surprised.
"Yeah, same here. I just get the feeling that it's a lot newer for you than it is for me."
He left the question open on purpose, watching her take a quick but deep breath before answering.
"Yeah. Like I said - weird week," she said, lips pursing in a grimace.
Peter waited for her to add more, but she didn't.
"Wanna talk about it?" he offered lightly, sensing her hesitation.
"I don't know - no offense, but I don't know you."
"Sure you do."
He was definitely being bold, taking this route, but he could blame it on everything that had happened lately. Traveling across the space-time continuum certainly helped one loosen up.
"What?"
"Well, you know - friendly neighborhood Spider-Man and all that."
He waited. And waited. And - there it was. The shock and surprise. She pulled her hand back from his.
"What? You - no, you're not." she scoffed.
"I'm pretty sure I am."
"If you were, you wouldn't just tell random strangers about it."
"I normally don't. This is a special case."
"I'm a case?"
"Not like - you're not a case, like a case to solve;  you're just - you're like me."
He shouldn't have sounded so idiotically giddy when he said it, and he also shouldn't have been smiling like he was, but it was nearly impossible. After all he'd witnessed not that long ago, the prospect of meeting someone very much like him in his own universe sent his brain into premature decomposition. Two months had passed since he got pulled into a different dimension and had the experience of a lifetime. Since he met his brothers.
It was difficult to stifle the excitement bubbling up at the thought of something like that happening without visiting another universe. And then his smile promptly dropped when he realized - what if she was from a different universe? And if that was the case, then what could've happened to bring her here? And how could he ask?
"Where are you from?"
That was not the way to ask.
"Uh… the suburbs?" she frowned.
"But from New York," he clarified.
"No, the suburbs of Ohio. I'm just getting snacks here, at four p.m. on a Monday. Should head back soon if I don't want to miss my train." she sassed, head tilting to the side.
"Ha-ha. Seriously. You haven't like, seen any strange portals or anything? Haven't zapped to a different place out of nowhere?"
"You know, you still haven't offered any, like, proof of identity. How do I know you're not just messing with me?" she asked, pulling her shoulders straight. She seemed to do that when she wanted to look brave. Cute. In that scary, queen bee way.
And again, what was it with everyone and asking for superhero IDs?
With a tiny sigh, he held her gaze as he pulled the sleeve of his sweatshirt up, revealing the red and black of the device so familiar he forgot it was there half the time. She stared at it unblinkingly.
"Want me to crawl on the ceiling to prove it?" he asked, more dread than sarcasm permeating his voice.
"No… that's - that's plenty, I think," she replied without taking her eyes off his wrist.
"Oh."
"Yeah."
Pause.
"So about -"
"What happened to your face?" she interrupted. He blanked, sucking air through his teeth. A small smile found its way to her lips at his expression.
"I uh… fought a weird guy in a leopard suit?"
"Seriously? Ugh, animal print hasn't been in for like, eight years.", she said with a raised brow. Peter wasn't sure how to respond to her being more concerned about the fashion style of the guy that tried to kill him than she was about anything else. He had to be blunt, or they'd get nowhere. And yet, she surprised him once more.
"Did you do this to me?"
"Do what to you?" he asked, alarmed. She was the opposite.
"This. Whatever I have now - ew, that sounds like I'm diseased. Like, I just woke up like this four days ago. I've been sticking to everything, it's so annoying. I can hear people gossip at work from the other side of the room, and it's depressing, because I didn't know they were talking about me. I feel like I'm on crack, I'm twitchy 24/7 and I cannot.stop.eating."
Peter laughed in disbelief. So similar, yet so different.
"Oh, what - because you're much better? I've seen the news. You move like a bug." she reprimanded, crossing her arms. His laughter fizzled into animated chuckles. Apparently, finding stressful situations funny wasn't one of the things they had in common.
"That's because I am one. Kinda. And so are you," he offered, childishly wanting to rile her up. He was beginning to enjoy this little talk. She took the bait.
"Me? Am I dressed in a skin tight - horrendous, by the way - onesie with spiders on it?"
"I meant that I move like that on instinct. You should try it, it's fun. And it's not a onesie." Peter said flippantly, his own arms coming up over his chest. They probably looked like two petulant toddlers staring each other down.
"Whatever."
Neither of them said anything in the brief pause, but both had more questions and too much pride to ask any of them. The stalemate was punctuated by an announcement made over the store's speakers.
3 for 2 on all beef jerky flavors at checkout.
Another pause. A growling stomach. Hers.
Immediate embarrassment. Peter felt both smug and charitable enough not to laugh. Unassumingly plucking a Snickers bar off the shelf, he held it out to her with his brows raised.
"Peace?" he asked innocently.
"Very funny."
"Hey, I mean it. I know what this is like. I wanna help you, if you'll let me?"
There it was. He hoped she'd say yes, or at least be open to hearing him out, but the look on her face wasn't giving him much hope. She was shifting uncomfortably, fingers pulling gently at the fluffy bits sticking out of her cardigan every which way. Her teeth were abusing her lower lip, and little sighs of frustration kept leaving her mouth at random intervals.
He wasn't that bad, was he? He thought he'd built a good enough reputation for himself, even with the Bugle's militant campaign to sink public confidence in the web slinger.
"Look, I know you don't really have a reason to trust me, but I promise tha -"
"What is that?" she interrupted, looking around the isle and then back to him.
Peter took a moment to get back on track.
"What's what?"
"That. There's something here. I don't know what it is. I'm kinda freaking out."
He looked around with her, listening for anything that she might've picked up on, but his ears told him nothing.
"I think you might be a little sensitive. It happens a lot in the beginning. Just try to focus on -"
"No, it's not that. I know what that's like. This is different - it's here. Like - like it's here, but not?"
Peter wasn't sure what to say. His spidey sense was not going off in any capacity. Everything was tranquil, yet she was getting more agitated, bouncing on the balls of her feet and hugging herself even tighter.
"Hey - everything's ok. You're ok. Nothing's happening. What do you feel?"
Quick as lightning, she reached out with her right hand and poked a finger right on the soft flesh between his eyes.
"There. Feels like static."
"Ow," Peter said, though it didn't hurt at all. She retracted her hand just as quickly, looking at him expectantly.
"Well?"
"Well what?"
"I thought you said you'd help me. You're not being very helpful."
"I'm trying to be helpful, but there's nothing wrong right now."
"Then why do I feel like this?"
"Like what?!"
"Like I'm going to die!"
At first, he thought he imagined the vibration - as though it was a hallucination resulting from the exhaustion seeping into his bones.
And then it happened again.
And again.
And again.
Peter had only enough time to get them both to the ground before shards of glass went flying. The tile floor was undulating under his knees, dull and sustained. The street noise was no longer muffled, owing to the storefront windows having been blown out. It was everything Peter was familiar with - screaming people, asphyxiating smoke and crumbling infrastructure.
Mayhem.
"Are you alright?" he asked quickly, looking down to notice a small cut on her temple. A moment ago she'd been huddled in his arms, and now she was looking up with wide eyes that communicated nothing but fear.
There was no time at all to think about the intricacies of the situation - how she sensed something was amiss way before she was supposed to and how he didn't sense anything.
A rumble of vibration cut through their chests that elevated the tension in chaotic patterns, forcing one's breath to slow and the other's to cease entirely. Whatever was coming shook the ground under them. He had to get in the suit.
Moving away from her and into a secluded spot proved difficult as the hold on his forearm prevented his departure. Her eyes were pleading.
"Hey, I have to go. I have to suit up, ok? I'm coming back, I promise." he reassured, right hand over her left.
Urgency building, he pulled himself out of her grasp and searched for the nearest alcove away from security cameras. This was a rehearsed dance he couldn't teach to anybody, known so crudely only by him as he emerged from the flurry of eccentric movements a new person. It was different behind the mask. Questions he might've had were put on hold as the new environment pushed his senses to acclimate under duress. The ground shook even harder. The sounds of struggle had him moving before he finished replacing his cartridges.
Rounding the corner, his assessment of the candy isle induced dread on the spot. At the other end was the strangely enthusiastic Russian he'd fought at lunch, looking just as ridiculous as the first impression of him but also bigger. He definitely looked taller and more muscular, tiny rips in his suit that could be attributed to his sudden growth. Now naked from the waist up, Kraven wore only a fur vest that had not been there last time. Peter was looking up at the good foot and a half he had over him. He was a mountain.
What the hell happened to him?
Between them and right where he'd left her, Maya stood still, her back to Peter. She was closer to Kraven than to him, and the man - animal? - had changed demeanor and size. He was sniffing the air. The moment Kraven closed his eyes to inhale, Peter ran, crossing the distance swiftly and pushing her behind him. He started moving them back one slow step at a time, keeping his arm in front of her and ignoring her death grip on it.
"Wow, he does look awful. And that's not leopard print, that's tiger," she muttered.
Was she serious?
"Oh, I'm sorry, I must've gotten my killer cats mixed up," Peter shot back, eyes trained ahead. His senses were only now going haywire. Kraven was more dangerous than he'd been only hours ago.
They neared the end of the isle right as the threat zoned in on both of them. His eyes were not as they were before, pupils in a thin black slit against yellow corneas .
"Like you," he said, voice rumbling as if his entire chest vibrated with the words.
That wasn't good.
"You like me? You tried to kill me!" Peter retorted, trying to make light of the situation while he thought of a way out for Maya. He knew that wasn't what Kraven meant.
"She is like you."
"Leave her out of this, Kraven. She's not like me. You'll be hurting an innocent person," Peter warned, pushing her further behind him.
"If I defeat you both, I can finally claim my title. I'll be the world's best hunter!" he snarled.
Earlier when they'd clashed, he seemed to have the same motivation for fighting, but he'd made it clear there was no murderous intent. Peter wasn't so sure that was the case anymore. Whatever happened to him, whatever he took, Kraven wasn't himself.
"Ugh, this is so lame," she complained quietly.
That wasn't how Peter would describe the situation.
"Listen to me: I want you to focus on getting out of here. I'll deal with the big guy; try to go around us when I engage," Peter instructed.
"When you engage? You talk like this?" she whispered back, apparently thinking Kraven couldn't hear her if she did.
"Just do as I say!"
"Oh, don't worry. I wasn't gonna stick around for this. I'd literally rather -"
Kraven lunged.
Peter met him halfway, throwing one last glance at Maya ducking around the shelves and running before he put all his concentration into the fight. The first thing he learned was that Kraven was now more of a wall than a person, and Peter's reflexes did not protect him as well as they had in their previous altercation. Catching a swipe from this guy would be distinctly unpleasant, and he figured out exactly how unpleasant when he parried a second too late. He went flying into a wall of sunscreen lotion that gave him an idea he was instantly proud of. It'd be easier to topple a guy whose footing was a little slippery.
Grabbing an armful of blue bottles - why was everything blue? - he threw them one by one with enough force that they lost their integrity on impact with the hunter. It looked ridiculous, but soon enough, Peter discovered just how different the result was from what he had planned.
Kraven did not cartoonishly slip when he moved forward. He took three steps before halting, eyes flaming murderously. Based on the way his nose was twitching, he did not appreciate having one of his senses overwhelmed by SPF.
The next time he went at Peter, it was with renewed determination that scaled into irreparable destruction. The longer they engaged, the less recognizable the store was as anything other than the site of a demolition.
With smoke billowing from the violence, even Peter's well-honed senses were struggling with reaction times. He felt Kraven's high kick land between his shoulders and soon his chest embraced one of the last upstanding walls in the building.
He'd had worse. So why couldn't he get up? Even as he heard the footfalls of the hunter approaching, his organs didn't feel like they were in the right place.
C'mon, Parker. Get up.
Kraven's foot slammed down on his back, flattening his body into the floor again and breaking the tile underneath.
He really is trying to kill me. It'd really suck dying here -
"Hey! You big ugly brute! Get off him!"
The pressure on his spine eased up at the same time that the one inside his skull multiplied exponentially. What was she doing?!
With Kraven stepping away, Peter tried his best to get to his feet before something terrible happened, but the floor kept pulling him back down as if gravity itself was holding a grudge. Letting out a grunt of frustration, he pushed even harder and heard something snap - only, it didn't come from his own body.
Oh God.
With worse urgency than before, he made it to his feet and caught his breath for a moment, trying to locate Kraven in his immediate surroundings. The smoke was overwhelming every one of his senses. Consequently, he realized what had been thrown at him only when his back made contact with the floor. Something soft lay on his chest.
Hair. Pink fluff under his hands. Little gasps and curses in his ears.
She got off him before he could open his mouth to say anything, and was on her feet with a frustrated huff.
"Ugh! What is your problem?!" she shrieked.
She did not direct that at him. Her eyes were looking elsewhere, hands fixing her clothes and hair in a frenzy. Her left arm was noticeably resting at her side, a tear in the fabric at her shoulder.
"What's his problem?! What's yours? I told you to go!" Peter freaked. Getting up again was challenging, but he managed for the sake of pulling her away and towards the windows that had been blown out. This far inside the store, they were barely visible.
"I felt guilty! I wasn't gonna come back but he - I saw him flatten you like a squirrel, and I ran over a squirrel last year! Ugh, it's awful!"
"Oh my God, that is awful!" Peter said in mock horror. Guilt over a squirrel made her endanger her life. He couldn't believe he had to deal with this on top of everything else.
Why was he finding it so difficult to focus? Not only that, but he was and felt slow. He should have dodged - or at least seen that coming - but he didn't. He'd been feeling weird since his last fight against the hunter, and things weren't helped by the ridiculous circumstance in which he was now trapped. Even with the smoke clearing the closer they got to the windows in the checkout area, it was still thick enough that he couldn't see six feet in front of him.
"Listen to me: you need to get out. You can't help me. You're too new at this and you're gonna get hurt."
"I helped you just now!" she complained.
"Yeah, and it probably made him angry!"
Too late.
Whatever happened in the next few seconds, neither Peter nor Maya could react quickly enough. Caught in the path of a large object thrown their way, both got flattened this time, but it was Peter's situational awareness that immediately kicked in. An entire shelf had just been used as a projectile, at a speed too fast to dodge. Kraven was growing stronger, and something was very wrong with his own powers, because he felt weaker by the minute.
Despite his mind telling him he needed to figure out what it was, his body was taking up all the energy just to move the shelf off both of them. The shelf was difficult to maneuver, and he didn't want to risk injuring Maya further. There were no sounds coming from her, and he doubted she'd stay quiet in a situation like this. Silence didn't seem to be her preferred mode of operation.
"Hey, hey! Are you ok?!" he asked, hoping she'd turn her head left to face him. All he could see was hair, and it sank his heart to not hear a response.
The shelf was gone in an instant.
Wherever the adrenaline had come from, he welcomed the voracity it reinstated to his tired bones. For a brief moment, he felt normal - and just in time, because Kraven was charging at him from the retreating smoke. Now confident again, Peter webbed his eyes with astounding accuracy, a second later following up with more shots to his legs that destabilized the giant hunter and brought him to the floor face-first.
Peter finally got his fantasy of a cartoonish takedown, and he would've been happy with it, if Kraven didn't immediately recover. Keep your distance, play your advantage, Peter thought. His strength was not his advantage when faced with an eight-foot mass of muscle and fur. But, his mouth could be.
"You know what? I think our little game is over," Peter called from the ceiling.
Kraven didn't answer. Instead, so fast that Peter almost missed it, the hunter's eyes flashed back to the color he remembered them to be: a simple brown, with no inhuman characteristics. What followed was even stranger, because either he was hallucinating, or Kraven's body was visibly shrinking, muscles trembling in a violent spasm. An agonized groan escaped the hunter as his hands came up to cover his face.
Seconds later, he was kneeling on what was left of the floor.
"I think whatever you took must be wearing off, huh?" Peter mused, watching him carefully for sudden movements.
Certain that Kraven wouldn't be retaliating any time soon, he took the opportunity to scan his surroundings, breathing a sigh of relief when he couldn't spot Maya where he'd last seen her. However, the same breath left him lightheaded as his eyes fell upon the trail of blood from the shelf's remains to an area by the leftmost checkout line. All caution was thrown to the wind.
Calling out for her as his legs carried him down the horrifying tracks, Peter noticed for the very first time that the closer he got, the worse he felt. His thoughts veered towards what he hoped was an erroneous assumption, but stranger things had happened. Two months ago his mind was forcibly opened to the reality of interdimensional travel. This would not be incredibly far-fetched.
A hacking cough disrupted his analysis and replaced it with instantaneous concern. Finally coming into view, Maya was crouched beneath the counter in the spot usually occupied by the cashier. Clutching her left side and breathing heavily, she jumped when he materialized from the smoke and backed up into the small space. To his surprise, her tension did not ease as he kneeled in front of her.
"N-no! No, you - you need to get," she said with another cough, "you need to get away. Away from here."
Peter ignored her request on account of wanting to deny reality for a while longer, especially when he noticed the pink cardigan rapidly turning a different color where she was pressing it with her hand.
"I'm not goin' anywhere." He shook his head. "We're getting you out, yeah? You'll be ok. You can heal," he said, reaching out to place his gloved hand over hers.
"Listen to me! Every time I'm near you, I feel like I'm going to die!" she rasped, making him recoil in shock.
"I felt it when I ran away," she began on a shaky breath, "and when you were on the ground. I felt really strong. And as soon as I was next to you, I lost it."
Come on, Parker. You know she's right. You've felt it since the beginning.
He knew he was being stubborn. If she had figured out what was happening, either by reason or instinct, then he definitely had a responsibility to not be obtuse. And yet.
"I can't just leave you here," he tried.
"If you don't, one of us will die," she pleaded. He noticed how truly frightened she looked, perhaps for the first time. Her entire demeanor had changed. He had to act.
"Alright, come on. Get up, and when I say run, you run," he instructed, but she was shaking her head before he had a chance to finish.
"I can't."
"Yes, you can. You can do it, Maya. I promise."
"There's something in my back," she whispered then, another cough shaking her upper body. Appalled, he watched a few drops of blood spill past her lips as she calmed. It short-circuited the command center of his brain. Before he could stop himself, Peter was turning her around in the small space and discovering with mild horror that a short metal beam was lodged in the spot where her lung should be, though thankfully not very deeply. It looked like a corner of the shelf they'd been hit with.
"I need to get this out."
"What?! No!"
"Maya, I need to!"
"No, you don't!"
"You'll be fine! I've had worse!"
"And I haven't!"
Peter ripped out the piece without warning, and immediately found himself on the receiving end of a world-class slap.
"Ugh! You - you - Dickhead! You absolute - prick!" she screeched, though to Peter it was evident she was having trouble settling on names to call him. He laughed. The situation was fucked, but he was laughing. He couldn't help it; it felt like bickering with the sibling he never had.
"I think the words you're looking for are 'thank you'," he said lightly, cheek still tingling from the impressive blow she dealt him.
"As if! You just ripped out my insides!" she glowered, hand coming up one more time, this time aiming for his chest. He didn't stop her.
"Are you always this dramatic?" he shot back, amused.
For a moment, he didn't know which was more dangerous: going back to face Kraven, or staying here with her. He was delighted. And perhaps a little off-kilter.
"Are you always this dickish?" she returned with a scowl.
"You already used that one. Gotta come up with new insults if you're gonna keep up with me."
"Keep up with you? I can't wait to get away from you!"
Silence. Moments passed in a fierce stare-down. And then it appeared he wasn't the only one who felt a little deranged. He watched her curiously as she looked away with a chuckle.
"I just realized… I was waiting for you to blink first," she snickered.
"No worries. We can reschedule this for later," Peter reassured.
"You wish."
"Alright. Come on, enough chit-chat. Let's get outta here." Peter helped her up carefully, prompting another glare.
"So you can be a gentleman."
"I'll have you know I'm nothing but."
The first thing he noticed upon rising to full height was the absence of Kraven. He wasn't where Peter had last seen him, and if he could at last rely on his senses, he wasn't anywhere in the store. With a focused sigh, Peter gently took her right arm and hooked it over the back of his neck, encouraging her to lean on him when he noticed how feeble she actually looked.
"This feels wrong," Maya breathed out, though she didn't protest his gesture.
"I'm offended by that," Peter mocked as he directed them towards the exit.
"No, not this. Although you do smell kinda bad, so… gross.”
"It's not me, it's the suit. Laundry day's tomorrow."
"This feels wrong. Can't you feel it?" she repeated.
Peter wasn't really listening. He could see the light from the windows through the smoke. They were so close to fresh air.
"Feel what?"
His senses crashed in all too late. His best reaction time was nothing compared to the speed of what hit them.
Maya was ripped from him in an instant, and when he predictably lunged forward to grab her, claws slashed deeply into his chest and he was pushed away. He tumbled to the floor with the breath knocked out of him. And though his mouth didn't work for a moment, his ears bled with the pitch of silence. He felt a surge of strength flow through his chest with horrific intensity.
He was calling her name as the blood pounded in his ears. Dull thuds shook the floor under him, getting further and further away. Whether he crawled or jumped to his feet was uncertain, but he stumbled forward blind, grasping at the edge of the mask to remove the image in front of him. His eyes would tell the truth.
His eyes saw nothing but what used to be a bright pink cardigan.
So much blood. Peter collapsed next to her with no sensation in his legs.
"H-hey. Hey!" He grabbed at her unthinkingly, gathering her upper body and shielding it against his chest. Her eyes were open, unfocused.
"Look at me. Maya, look at me. Please, please!"
Only a weak breath remained in her chest. A weaker heartbeat still. He was clinging to it with desperation. He couldn't do anything but beg. His mind was stretched to the absolute breaking point.
'I felt it when I ran away. And when you were on the ground. I felt really strong.'
For the longest moment of his life, he was paralyzed by uncooperative limbs. If he didn't let go of her now, she'd be gone.
"I'll make it better. I swear. I'll make it go away."
Debris was everywhere. He grabbed the first piece that looked sturdy enough. The adrenaline made it so that the first few seconds didn't even hurt, but there was only so much slack he could get for putting a wooden spear through his chest. He fell to the floor with a grunt, narrowly avoiding their heads colliding.
He waited until the sirens outside got quieter and his fingers got colder, but he could no longer fight the pull of sleep.
And then, a weight fell over his almost numb right hand. One of his eyes was pried open uncomfortably.
"Please don't be dead." Her breath hit his face point blank, and maybe he was hallucinating from blood loss, but she still smelled like bubblegum.
"Not yet," he choked out.
"Ok… good. I don't - don't want Spider-Man on my conscience," Maya said with a wheeze, leaning back down next to him but holding his hand still.
"Thought I was a dickhead." Talking really wasn't something to do at the moment, but he couldn't help it.
"You got bumped up a couple tiers."
"Why?" he croaked.
She turned her head to catch his eye.
"You just put a stake through your chest. Like a vampire wannabe," she said. And then, more quietly, "For me."
"That's what it takes to… to get in your… good graces?" He should stop talking.
"Yes," she whispered.
"Hard to please."
Peter thought he fell asleep, because there was no other way that he heard what he heard without it being a dream.
"You haven't seen anything yet."

A/N: So, not even I know where I was going with this. It started out as a completely different thing and ended up a mess. Do take into account that I may or may not have been exceedingly caffeinated while writing. Read at your own risk. Also, I went ham with the italics in this one. It was... a choice. If anyone’s wondering what the weird thing was that was going on, it’s the fact that two people with the same powers aren’t supposed to exist in the same dimension, and this is the universe’s way of correcting it - making one weaker when one is stronger.

❤️ Meet My F/O - G//yro Zeppeli from J//oJo's Bizarre Ad//venture ❤️
(Finally getting around to submitting this - guarantee I'm gonna mess some things up since I've never made a Tumblr submission before, but here's to trying to get the least amount of things wrong! Also be warned this post is LONG)
🗺️ Give us an overview of your F/O’s canon
This one’s slightly more complicated than it seems, since part 7 J//JBA [slight spoilers ahead, by the way] has a canonical multiverse and takes place in the 1890s. The multiverse of S//BR states that there are infinite versions of universes and characters out there, and they can be nearly identical, with only the most minor of changes. In short, the G//yro I tend to selfship with is not from the exact same universe that is shown in S//BR, but rather an incredibly similar universe where almost the exact same course of events happen. I’m unsure of the time period - I tend to swap around between the original period of the 1890s to somewhere between the late 90s to the 2000s a lot, though I usually favor the latter. I tend to appreciate the idea that we can enjoy more modern comforts together.
❣️ Tell us about your F/O
Where to even begin with G//yro… He was a doctor/executioner from Italy, but came to America to race in the S//BR horse race in order to try to gain amnesty for a young boy he did not believe should be executed. His father believed his “fatal flaw” was his compassion, and how he tries to help those less fortunate, or has “too much” sympathy for others. He’s silly and likes to sing songs and make up jokes, but he can be very serious when he needs to be, ESPECIALLY when protecting someone that he loves. He would quite literally go to the ends of the earth if he believes enough in a cause or is dedicated to protecting someone enough. Still, he can be pretty cocky and flamboyant, and he doesn’t like asking for help - so he can be a real stubborn jackass when he’s set on doing something. He is very quick to apologize when he genuinely upsets someone he cares about, though. (Like, just 2 pages quick.) He’s 24 years old, knows Italian and English fluently, and has a very distinct laugh - IYKYK (and if not, look it up for free serotonin).
📷 Show us some pics of them/Give us a description of what they look like
He looks goofy but I say that so lovingly… this dude quite literally has custom made grills that say his name and how can you not find that level of dorkiness at least somewhat endearing? His beard is cut so strangely and he wears green lipstick, sometimes paired with green nail polish in some art. He’s an absolute mess who can look gorgeous one second and very strange the next but I love it so, so much.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I have a whole collection of images of him, so so many, but I will spare the spamming haha ❤️
👀 What drew you to selfship with them?
On top of already being infatuated with his design, personality, ect. and hyperfixated on his source canon - I had a very hard week which turned into a very hard couple of weeks, and during that time when I felt so lonely, I found a LOT of comfort in Jo//hnny and G//yro’s relationship. There hit a certain point though where I realized that the projection fell very heavily to one side, however, and it was mostly the idea of being loved and comforted by G//yro that I enjoyed. I wanted someone funny, loyal, and protective to be there for me - and I also wanted someone who I could shower with love, who would adore all the attention. The Jo//hnny/G//yro correlation and relating to/projecting via Jo//hnny never completely went away, though, so it’s still a big part of my selfshipping - as will be touched upon next!
🤝 Describe your S/I’s relationship with them
My self-insert is named (not the actual spelling of their name, but one I’ll use here because the actual one is also quite distinct and identifying and I’ve used it elsewhere) Jonee and uses he/they pronouns, and appearance-wise they are nearly identical to the Jo//hnny of the “main” S//BR universe, though he has a lot more differences in story and personality than G//yro does. He has very low self confidence before meeting Gy//ro, but during the course of the race, he improves a lot and grows as a person - definitely in part by G//yro helping him and being by their side. Post-race (where most of the selfshipping happens), he is rather clingy to G//yro due to the hardships they endured together, but G//yro doesn’t mind too much. They would consider each other boyfriends, though they never explicitly started dating for months - they just slowly over time started showing affection to one another, now they’re kissing and saying “I love you” meanwhile forgetting they never even asked to date LMAO but in their hearts they were for sure boyfriends until Jonee finally asked and confirmed it!
G//yro mainly shows affection through physical touch and quality time, and my S/I also shows affection through physical touch as well as acts of service (usually cooking G//yro’s favorite foods)! It’s probably due to Jonee’s cooking that G//yro has managed to gain a little bit of weight, too - a bit of chub on his hips, and a curve to his belly. He’s well fed and happier, and slowly putting more weight on as he heals! G//yro and Jonee live together in a cabin on a farm with their two horses - Va//lkyrie and Sl//ow Da//ncer - as well as a few goats, a few cows, and a cat.
🔥 Share some kinky headcanons you have for them
If G//yro is enjoying the food, he can eat an absurd amount. Like, it doesn’t take a huge amount of food for him to get full usually, but he can keep pushing past his limit for quite a while before he calls it quits. Somehow, he manages to zone so into the food that he can only focus on the taste, and have all other physical sensations in the back of his mind - it’s not until an hour and a very swollen belly later that he fully realizes the extent of how much he’s eaten. (This one is basically canon, too!)
His stubbornness and competitive nature leads him to try eating challenges at restaurants all the time. Finish a 5lb burger in an hour to win a shirt? He’s on it. Eat a 24” pizza all by himself? Sure! He wins the challenge, more often than not - only for Jonee to lovingly scold him when his tummy hurts later, giving him plenty of rubs.
He LOVES it when Jonee plays doctor when his stomach hurts. He finds it incredibly endearing, considering he has professional training - and he genuinely thinks that Jonee does a great job at taking care of him! He loves all the attention he gets. He even lets Jonee use his old stethoscope to listen to his tummy digest, which always gets Jonee extremely flustered and pink in the cheeks. (Sometimes he flusters them even more by asking questions - “What do you hear in there? How does it sound, it sure is noisy, huh? Are you going to make me all better, doc?”)
He adores teasing Jonee. He knows about their tummy kink and he doesn’t mind at all, in fact he’s delighted that something so simple brings them so much joy! And being full feels great, he sees it as a win-win all around. Whenever he eats too much or has a tummyache or hiccups, he always goes to find my S/I in order to get a reaction out of him, or calls him if they are apart. He laughs whenever their face gets red!
Very prone to getting the hiccups when he eats, due to eating very quickly. They are strong enough to rock his whole body - though they only hurt if a prolonged case, but a slight bit of discomfort isn’t unheard of. Visually, it is mostly his neck and upper stomach that react to each hiccup - sharply contracting, causing a slight shake to his whole belly in the aftermath. Often tries to talk throughout a case, resulting in interruptions and words that are half-word, half-hiccup - this gives Jonee butterflies more than anything, especially if paired with a full, noisy tummy.
He takes some time to warm up to hand-feeding - it’s a combination of defensive pride and letting himself be so vulnerable around someone else. However, he very quickly comes to love it when he realizes just how good it feels to be taken care of and let someone else take the wheel entirely. Jonee takes things slowly as G//yro grows used to it… but there has definitely been at least one instance of it turning into a full-blown stuffing/feeding session. He considers letting someone else feed him to be a very intimate experience and exercise in trust, especially all the way to a stuffed state, and he would only ever let Jonee see him that vulnerable. Jonee gives him lots of cathartic snuggles afterwards, he’s immensely grateful and honored that G//yro trusts and feels comfortable around him. 💕
🌈 Share some other headcanons you have for them
The songs he makes up may be silly, but his singing voice genuinely isn’t bad! It’s definitely not superstar level singing, but it’s nice enough to fall asleep to as he sings a lullaby, or sing along to a familiar song with.
My S/I’s country accent starts to rub off on him, and he already has a noticeable Italian accent… it leads to a very funny blend of the two. There’s a veeery noticeable drawl to a lot of words, and he tends to speak in a slow, sing-song sort of fashion.
He loves teddy bears. If he’s ever actually in an uncomfortable amount of pain or any kind of distress, holding his pink teddy bear helps calm him down. Jonee carefully repaired the bear himself when its arm broke apart - perhaps this is where G//yro’s adoration of them “playing doctor” began, on top of the general relief he feels to be taken care of as opposed to always taking care of others.
Has a smell similar to leather, due to working with animals and horse riding equipment, mixed with a faint cinnamon/apple smell. Sometimes he smells like wood/bonfire smoke.
Really loves roses, pink and red ones especially. He and Jonee cultivate a little rose garden along with some sunflowers and bluebells. Despite this, G//yro still brings home bouquets of roses and sunflowers on occasion as well as chocolate or pastries, just for Jonee. Jonee brings home all kinds of snacks and plushies for G//yro in return.

Chia, Jasmine, Nutmeg for the "get to know me" ask game!
chia ⇢ what’s an inside joke you have with someone else?
Hm, what's an inside joke that wouldn't be too difficult to explain... lol.
Sometimes when we answer the phone with each other, my husband and I answer it thusly: "Moshi moshi? KAA-BI DESU"
Inspired by this dialogue from a Kirby radio CD (this animation is the best too): https://youtu.be/jSD3vrR2HxI
Naturally this only works when we're NOT answering the phone in a populated area. Well, at least not if we don't want a lot of strange looks...
We... reference stuff a lot. xD
jasmine ⇢ do you have a movie or book you loved but will never watch/read again?
To be honest, I rarely watch movies over and over anyway... you're lucky you can get me to sit down long enough for one. My attention span is... fickle.
But! I guess I would say Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. Specifically because I was sooooo excited to see these movies and really loved being there in theaters experiencing it for the first time. I am, indeed, a MCU fangirl (though only for phase 1--I have no real plans to continue keeping up with it going forward), and the MCU movies genuinely are what sparked my interest and liking of superheroes. Prior to that, I was extremely lukewarm on superheroes and really didn't care for the genre at all.
And while I think the last two Avengers movies were incredibly meaningful experiences to me, and I truly enjoyed them and how they wrapped up the main story (more or less), I would never watch them again because it wouldn't have the same impact. If I were to watch them again I'd just be nitpicking all the dumb plot details, thus ruining my happy memories of them. ^^;
I can reflect on that period happily, because I did genuinely have a lot of fun memories sharing the movies with my husband and my family. I don't think the MCU can be the same for me going forward (I'm not super big on multiverse stuff, especially with THAT many characters and worlds), but it still has a fond place in my heart. :)
nutmeg ⇢ how’s your room/home decorated? do you have a specific theme or style going on?
I don't really feel like I do, but I think I try, at least? When I was growing up, my family never really... decorated the house all that much. My mom made efforts to, but because we were a military family, we never stayed in one place for more than 3-4 years at a time, and we weren't allowed to damage or alter things too drastically in our rentals/base housing, so... decorating was kind of temporary and minimal? So I never had a great sense of decorating, and the idea of even hammering a nail in a wall is shocking to me.
Ever since we bought our own house, though, we've been making efforts! Our whole downstairs is mostly modernist style, with various quirky pictures on the walls (so far we have a coffee picture, a giant framed picture of a chicken with a bowler hat signed by Alton Brown, and a portrait of a ghost painted by my brother-in-law).
The library has more darker colors in the furniture, and eventually I want to slap more stuff on the wall to make it feel closer to that scholarly, library type setting. (Not TOO stiff and formal, though... I do like to relax in there; it's the quietest room in the house!)
The computer lab is full of gamer/nerdy stuff. It's also sort of a mess. Eventually I want to put decals on the wall behind my computer to spice things up.
Our bedroom is... kinda trying to be boudoir in theme, though I'm not sure if the furniture quite matches that vibe. I guess the color helps me pretend it's more antique, and all the other decor in the room helps lend itself to that, lol. xD My altar lends itself to the decor somehow, and I do end up feeling more witchy whenever I do stuff there. Somehow.
I guess it was pretty magical, the way we crammed the bed from IKEA into my tiny hatchback and managed to get it home...
...
Haha, I guess I ended up rambling a lot, but... thank you for the ask! It was a lot of fun! ^^

The Art of the Character Reveal
Much as I love the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it’s incredible domination of the film industry over the past 10+ years has led to the proliferation of all types of media based on existing works feeling the need to have big reveals of characters known to fans of the original source.
Now as a fan of most of said original sources, I eat this shit up like it’s a vanilla cheesecake, but thinking more critically on it, the problem is that often the reveal is set up so that the main shock factor or focal point is “hey look, it’s glup shitto!” without any wider sense of the context of the scene.
These kind of teases began in the post-credit scenes of the MCU films. These post-credits scenes, originally, were largely used to tease the following films or tease a new character from the comics. These scenes were not meant for everyone, they were meant to be a fun bonus for keen fans who were excited about the future of the series. Very few of the early MCU post-credits scenes are necessary to the enjoyment of the following films and you wouldn’t feel too lost for not seeing them. As the series got more and more popular it became de rigeur for EVERYONE to stay and watch them, which meant, as the series went on, naturally more and more obscure characters were being teased so a lot of these reveals fall flat. Furthermore, Marvel Studios became lazier and lazier with the scripting of these scenes. Comparing the post-credits scenes from “Iron Man”, and “Iron Man 2″ to the post-credits scenes from “The Eternals” and “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” gives us this:
IM1: Tony enters his apartment, someone has messed with JARVIS and is waiting for him, Samuel L Jackson steps out of the shadows and announces he is Nick Fury, Director of SHIELD and he wants to talk to Tony about the “Avengers Initiative”
This scene sets up Fury as a shady individual, gives a “oh cool!” moment in seeing beloved film actor Samuel L Jackson, and contextualises him as Agent Coulson’s boss. He wants to talk to Tony about some new project and hints there are other heroes. We don’t need to know who Nick Fury is for this scene to land - It sets up the future, is intriguing and we get who the character represents even if not familiar with the comics.
IM2: Coulson is driving into the desert and finds a crater, he calls Fury to say he’s found it, the camera shows a hammer sat in the crater.
Again, we understand that this is what Coulson was off investigating during IM2, we know Coulson and Fury are looking into super heroes and super threats and this is clearly an object of great power, sitting as it is in a crater. We don’t need to know this is Mjolnir.
The Eternals: The remaining Eternals are recuperating on their ship. A drunk troll appears and introduces Harry Styles who says he’s Eros, brother of Thanos, has done all this wild shit, and is an Eternal. Harry Styles says he’s here to help and the Eternals’ friends are in trouble.
It conveys all the details but in a much lazier “tell don’t show” way and none of the characters react to any of the reveals so why should we? We don’t get a sense of why he can help, or why his relation to Thanos is relevant. It’s a whole lot of “who’s this guy? Besides Harry Styles?”.
DSITMOM: Doctor Strange is walking down a street, Charlize Theron appears and says he caused an incursion and they have to fix it. Strange’s third eye opens and they jump in the reality hole.
Again, no sense of who Charlize Theron is, or why she’s policing incursions, also Strange is quite happy to have his third eye, undermining the ending of the film a bit. It doesn’t work without know this is Clea (which I didn’t even realise on first watch).
Marvel is not the only culprit for this, DC is too, the post credits of “Justice League” being an egregious example, especially given none of the character involved had any appearances in the main film proper, entirely divorced from the main threads. Even my beloved “Legends of Tomorrow” does this at the end of Season 1 and Season 7: They introduce a character who shows up and proudly announces “I’m John Tomorrowlegends of the Cool Gang!” and we are supposed to know and care who that is. Stuff like that is why all those “explaining the ending of...” articles exist on pop culture sides netwide.
“Rings of Power” also seems to be heading that way, with a number of foreshadowing elements setting up a bunch of reveals that will be obvious to Tolkien fans, and completely go over the heads of the general audience. Joe Public is not going to go “Oh shit, that’s Isildur!?” when he inevitably shows up, nor are they going to lose their mind over the Arkenstone appearing.
Conversely, in other examples of reveals done well, or rather not done, ironically we turn to Star Wars. Despite coining the term “Glup Shitto” the way “The Mandalorian” season 2 handles its multiple character reveals is basically to not do a reveal. The Mandalorian has five existing characters pop into the show: Cobb Vanth, Boba Fett, Bo-Katan Kryze, Ahsoka Tano, Luke Skywalker and with the possible exception of Luke, none are treated like a shock reveal, nor require wider knowledge of who they are to enjoy the story. Each represents a key character in their episodes, but are only ever discussed in relation to Din Djarin’s story.
Cobb Vanth is a guy with Mando armour who he needs to deal with - no backstory needed (though given in a flashback).
Boba Fett is teased at the end of the first episode, but all we need to know is a mysterious man with Tusken weapons is stalking Din. When he shows up proper, it doesn’t even matter that he’s Boba Fett, we don’t need to know that he was a big deal in “The Empire Strikes Back”.
Bo-Katan and Ahsoka have cool introductory action sequences, but again, don’t need to know who they are in The Clone Wars to see how they fit into Din’s story, that knowledge is a bonus. It would have worked just as well if they were a random Mando or Jedi.
Luke Skywalker IS presented like a reveal, teasing him element by element, but to be fair, I think if you are watching a Star Wars TV show, Luke Skywalker is a person you should know. Even then, he establishes himself as a powerful Jedi, the one answering Grogu’s call, and more than capable of protecting him.
“The Mandalorian”’s existing characters (and indeed Black Krrrsantan in “Book of Boba Fett”) are all relevant to the story and factor in as key elements, we are interested in who they are to Din and how they will help or hinder his journey. They could have been nobodies/new characters and all the scenes would have worked just as well.
Knowing who the Glup Shitto is should be a bonus “ah-ha!” moment, not the crux of the scene. If the reveal falls flat for someone unfamiliar with the source then you are doing your show or movie a disservice.

seeing you rb imposterogers is so bizarre. you're the two blogs i got tumblr to follow, and i've followed you both for years. i've seen them go through three urls. but i have always somehow imagined you two as polar opposites. very different opinions on almost everything. two magnetic points, never to meet. but apparently you're not and it's very strange, you've shaken my worldview
people can have different opinions and still vibe. interesting metaphor, and I can assure you that successfully shaking your worldview was exactly what my calendar said was scheduled for today.

Three is the Magic Number, Pt. 2 // TASM!Peter Parker x GN!Reader
[Spoilers for No Way Home]
Masterlist // Series Master Post
Summary: When Doctor Strange accidentally opens the multiverse while trying to help Peter Parker, reader gets swept up into the mess. A magic user training at the Sanctum Sanctorum with secrets of their own, they attempt to navigate a universe where multiversal beings are spilling in and causing trouble, all while struggling with their own magic. And then a certain version of Peter Parker catches their eye.
Part 1 | Part 3 | Epilogue
Notes: Gender Neutral!Reader, reader is a magic user and an avenger, death, talking about grief, use of ‘Y/N’, I used a dialogue from TFATWS in this part oops.
Word Count: 1123
Tumblr media
Peter would be lying if he said he hadn’t been subconsciously monitoring your presence in the room. He felt a little prickle at the back of his mind when you walked out the door. None of your friends seemed to be following you, though they were shooting worried glances at your retreating figure. If your departure had anything to do with their plan, there would have been a discussion. But since there wasn’t, he had to assume you’d left to be alone for some time.
And yet, a wild panic gripped him once you rounded the corner and stepped out of his line of vision. He set down the instruments in his hand and went after you. He would stand at a distance if you wanted to be alone. He wouldn’t say a word if you wanted the quiet. He would do whatever you needed of him.
He stepped out onto the roof and saw you standing near the edge. Unsure at first, but then emboldened by your glance toward him that didn’t ask him to leave, he stepped toward you. “Is everything okay?”
You turned your face toward him. The lights of the city lit up your face and it took his breath away. “Crappy day,” you said, your breath visible in front of your face.
A part of him was really starting to worry about how cold you might be. “You don’t have your cap with you?”
“What?”
“Your cap? You seem cold.”
“Oh. Yeah.” You pulled it out of your coat pocket and jammed it on your head. “Was that just regular concern or did your version of me also carry around a cap in their coat pocket?”
He smiled at the memory. “They had that exact one. I always told them folding it would be better but they would just shove it into their pocket, all crumpled up. It drove me nuts.”
“Oops.” You laughed a little. “This is so crazy. The multiverse, alternate versions of ourselves. It’s enough to drive a person insane.”
You seemed unhappy so he decided to steer the conversation in a different direction. “How long have you been able to do magic? My version of you couldn’t do that.”
“Um, a few years now.”
“Wow. That must be pretty cool.”
“Eh.”
“You don’t agree?”
You sighed unhappily. He’d clearly steered the conversation in the wrong direction. A different wrong direction. “It’s not working. My magic,” you said finally.
“It’s not working? Like a web block?”
“Kind of, yeah. I was getting really good at it and then everything with Thanos happened. I stopped practising and … It was easier to run away. And now, even though everyone’s back and I’m practising, it’s not the way it used to be. It was effortless and now, no matter how hard I try, it doesn’t work.”
“That’s tough.” Then, “Who’s Thanos?”
“Who’s- Right, of course, you don’t know about Thanos.” You took a deep breath. “Six years ago, there was an alien called Thanos who came to Earth. He believed that since there were too many living creatures in the universe and not enough resources, there should be an indiscriminate way of killing half the population.”
Peter’s eyebrows rose at this. What the hell?
“He gathered the most powerful objects in the known universe called the Infinity Stones. And he used them to turn half the population to dust. We call it the Blip. It was a living hell. Everyone had lost someone. When you’re grieving, the people around you can help you move on. But what happens when an entire planet is grieving? No one moved on. Everything fell apart.”
The sorrow in your voice tugged up a wave of anger in him.
“And then last year, we figured out how to bring everyone back. But people who were Blipped didn’t age. Peter, MJ and Ned are still the same age they’d been before they were gone but I grew up. I grew up without my friends.”
Peter thought of losing his version of you and the way Harry turned against him. “I guess I grew up without my friends too. Not that I’m comparing what happened to this world to what happened to me.”
“No, I get that,” you cut in, as if you knew he was about to start rambling. Maybe you did.
He cleared his throat in the winter air. “Can I see your magic?”
You cupped your palms and Peter watched with fascination as you conjured up a faint blue ball of light, like a will-o’-the-wisp. “That’s beautiful.”
You brought your hands down and the blue orb vanished. “Thanks. It used to be a lot stronger. But, for the past year, this is it.”
“Well, practice makes perfect. All the lessons must be helping, right?”
You looked down at the traffic. “After the Blip, I - I lost all hope. I left. I didn’t want my magic anymore if it couldn’t even protect the people I loved. And once we reversed the Blip, Aunt May encouraged me to continue my training. I have been trying since then but it’s like the magic can sense that I rejected it once.” You shook your head. “It doesn’t come when I call anymore.”
You shivered a little and Peter’s hands came up of their accord and tugged your cap down over your ears. You stilled and he dropped his hands. When you turned to him, a tear was tracing its way down your cheek. You took an unsteady step toward him and the next thing he knew, he had closed the gap and pulled you into his arms. He was instantly flooded with a wave of emotion, as if he’d been stumbling through the thorns for decades and was finally out of the woods.
The hug ended quicker than he wanted it to. You rubbed your hands over your face. “I’m sorry, ugh, I haven’t talked to anyone about this and it’s just,” you scrunched up your face, “you know?”
He wanted nothing more in that moment than to give you another hug.
“Whenever I experience a web block, it’s because I don’t believe in myself. For some reason, superpowers can tell when you’re having a bad self-esteem day. Maybe instead of pushing yourself so much over the people you couldn’t save, think about all the people you can. And don’t use that as an excuse to not live your life.”
You shot him a wry smile. “That was bizarrely wise.”
“I’m a bizarrely wise man.”
Under the warm glow of the city lights and the sounds of the traffic, in this strange universe with other Peters and miraculously a you in it, Peter had the strangest sense that he’d finally stepped out of the dark.
xxx
Hope you enjoyed this! Comments and reblogs are much appreciated. :) - Nina

Wandavision Theory & Magic Trio Possibility
I had a migraine attack and I was bored, so I finally watched Wandavision when I was bedridden.
As I knew, the sitcom theme wasn't really interesting for me. The horror, picked my curiosity but it wasn't enough to creep me out. I liked the throwbacks to their story and the little clues about what's happening. I didn't think Vision could be so funny! Seeing Darcy was such a delight! I've missed her!!! All in all, I can say the series is OK. I give it a 3 out of 5 for now.
Alright, now theory time!
Have anyone else noticed how Wandavision is basically a rip off of Once Upon A Time story line?
We have this town, that outside of it, no one has any idea it exists. There's a barrier protecting it. People can't get in or out. Their memories are changed. And a witch, who has lost the love of her life is controlling everything. She becomes a mom. An outsider comes in and the reality starts to break.
In OUAT, Regina casts the curse which brings fairy tale characters to this world and traps them in a town. She controlled the town. But the Dark Curse was given to her by Rumple, who wanted to use it to find his son. He used her need for revenge and a happy ending, to enact the curse and therefore his own plan.
This might be the case in Wandavision too. Someone may have convinced Wanda that this is the way to get her happy ending. Or someone may have built this place and brought Wanda in it, gave her a happy life, a happy life Wanda wouldn't want to leave and therefore using Wanda's power to maintain this reality and protect it. Notice how Wanda is confused at the beginning of the series. If this was her own doing why she was so confused and doesn’t remember things? Also if she can control everything why she can’t control Vision and stops him from asking questions?
Personally I'm very suspicious of Agnes. She gave me villainous vibes from the trailers. She keeps giving small hints that she knows this reality is fake and who really Wanda and Vision are. She was also the first person who visited Wanda after she arrived in her new home and started asking questions. And she hasn't been identified up to Ep4.
Tumblr media
Fans have theorized that she could be Agatha Harkness who is a salem witch in the comics. She might be the villain of the series. But, there might be another character and a bigger plot at play. Agnes keeps referring to his husband Ralph, who we haven't seen yet. According to this theory (thanks to @reggies-bass who told me about it and gave me links to it), Ralph could be Mephisto.
Now this theory makes me really excited about the potential it can bring to movies. As the video mentions, there's a picture in Loki TV show trailer, that could very possibly be Mephisto as fans previously have theorized.
Tumblr media
We know that Wandavision directly sets up the Dr. Strange Multiverse of Madness. We also know that Loki series tie into the movie. So Mephisto could be the villain of the Loki series too. This makes it very possible that we can finally have the magic trio on screen! Make it happen Marvel!!!
There is also another movie that ties into Dr. Strange 2 and that is Spider-Man 3. There are casts from other spider-man movies who are going to reprise their roles and we are probably going to see all three spider-mans together. That is actually another thing that makes Mephisto as the main villain plausible. All these movies are somehow messing with the multiverse. Remember when I said someone is using Wanda’s powers to enact their own plan?
*Stop reading if you don’t want spoilers from upcoming Wandavision episodes*
Do you recognize this character?
Tumblr media
YES! This is Quicksilver from X-MEN!!! Dressed in MCU Quicksilver Costume! (And he is a bit of an asshole judging from the leaked footage) Apparently Marvel intends to merge universes. And they are doing it by using Wanda’s reality bending powers. So Mephisto uses Wanda’s powers to mess with multiverse. He can also be the villain in Loki series who messes with timelines and therefore multiverse. These effects also show themselves in Spider-Man 3. And it all going to culminate in Dr. Strange 2 Multiverse of Madness with Strange and Wanda trying to set things right. I really hope Loki joins them too. It’s a perfect opportunity for an epic magical showdown between the best three magic users of Marvel. Don’t lose this chance MCU!

Spider-Man: No Way Home Theory - Is Doc Ock playing a Villain?
Tumblr media
So we've spent a bit of time since the No Way Home trailer dropped, our main tease being returns for Green Goblin, Electro, Sandman and Lizard, but confirmation for Alfred Molina's Doctor Octopus. It sounds pretty clear that a Sinister Six is oncoming, but to play Mephisto Advocate: What if Doc Ock isn't a villain?
Point 1: Spider-Man 2 redeemed Otto in the end Spider-Man 2 was arguably Raimi's best entry, it still holds as one of the top Spider-Man movies ever, and it's where Molina's Doctor Octopus debuted. But, Otto was often portrayed as manipulated and tragic, in the end being persuaded to put aside his obsessions that were fed by his inhibitions - personified by his tentacles - and redeem himself in death. Now given how JK Simmons is in MCU this could simply not be Raimi-verse Otto, if he's addressing MCU Peter this can also be the case, but we have had no confirmation that they've crossed paths before. So theoretically, if this is Raimiverse Otto, there's a chance he's past his agitations with Peter. So why would he be here?
Point 2: Is it Superior Spider-Man? In 2012, Marvel comics went and pulled a unique angle where Doc Ock, dying in his body, swapped his mind with Peter's and became Spider-Man, but not for evil. Superior Spider-Man was an interesting run in the comics so to speak, even pulling a Suicide Squad threat to control the Sinister Six for good, and while Peter did get his mind back Superior Spider-Man also did show up in Spider-verse. So considering this, what if this 'Otto' is actually Peter, and one of the Spiders we see is actually Superior Spider-Man? Alternatively, Otto may have a similar mindset of Superior Spider-Man and be an ally of Peter's aware of his identity post-memory wipe spell.
Point 3: Otto would be smart enough to help with Multiverse As an ally, Otto could be a factor in fixing the multiversal mess Peter and maybe Doctor Strange maybe Mephisto (I mean the One More Day vibes are there). He was making mini-Suns in the Raimiverse to stop a power crisis, the same could be said for the hinted Lizard who seemed reluctant to give away Peter's identity at the end of Amazing Spider-Man and Sandman - who Peter forgave at the end of Spider-Man 3. If Otto arrives to help Peter, it'd provide a strong asset in helping fix the Multiverse with fellow big brains. It might not end well for him if Strange turns out to be Mephisto but it'd at least explain revivals and whatnot.
Point 4: We may have too many for a Sinister Six right now As of current we've introduced potentially 5 villains, so people are already thinking Sinister Six like what Amazing Spider-Man 2 was setting up. However, while Otto is a founding member of the Six with Electro and Sandman, we have yet to acknowledge any MCU Spidey villains right now. We know from Homecoming that Mac Gargan aka Scorpion approached Vulture in prison to assemble a squad of his own, we also expect this to tie with Morbius given how Vulture appears in that too. Now Vulture may not bite but Scorpion and Morbius might, which gives us a top-heavy amount of villains for Six. While Otto may've been brought to contend with Peter, it's possible that not all will play ball and others will be searched to assemble a proper Sinister Six.
Point 5: Bruce Campbell could fulfill his Spider-destiny instead Bruce Campbell in the Raimi-verse was the slow-burn build never to be. With his cameos in each film, the plan was to reveal himself to be Mysterio. But now we've had a Mysterio, maybe we can bring him to be another Sinister Six Member: Chameleon. Spider-Man's first and oldest enemy would be a fitting character for Campbell and also for the No Way Home situation, someone who can manipulate like Beck but to a higher level and torment Peter directly. His comic history with one Sergei Kravinoff may also backdoor an MCU introduction for Kraven the Hunter for a later film too. Alternatively he could simply be Mephisto - and in turn posing as Strange - or Morlun - a key part of Spider-verse, keeping an eye on the Spiders for his own gain until picking the right moment to strike.
Point 6: Trailer content is often misleading The most valid point is to always take trailer content with a pinch of salt, they are by nature designed to entice and sometimes misdirect. The fact that Otto appears in the trailer but isn't shown acting towards anything could be telling, we did have a Goblin bomb to suggest that Green Goblin will be on the offense but Otto still remains a question mark. The potential lack of other Spiders keeps us hanging but it also means there's a lot of story to tell, so why show Otto early? We know Foxx is reprising as Electro so why didn't we see his face too? A fixed Electro would certainly generate hype too. So it's likely that Otto is both a stinger and a red herring.
In conclusion, as much as it could be possible, I don't quite buy it yet. Last we saw Otto he redeemed himself, but Doc Ock has had several storylines and incarnations to go other directions. Of course, I've been wrong like with Agatha - though she did kinda try training Wanda a bit - but the questions do grow, and it is still a possibility for what could be the MCU's most ambitious movie yet.

The Plot Bunny is LOOSE
Please feel free to comment and let me know your thoughts or which one is your favorite.
I wanted to write a drabble tonight, but honestly, I'm too tired for my brain to focus and invest time into dialogue writing, etc...
-----
These are kind of prompt ideas, with a choose your own adventure ending? I don't know. It's my brain rambling, that much is certain.
Also, if anyone becomes inspired, please take any of these prompts/ideas and run with them.
Helmut Zemo x Reader
You are in the safe house at Riga, researching possible sites for the next attack by the Flag-Smashers and Zemo decides to join you on the couch and help with his knowledge of the area and what may be good targets.
You end up falling asleep against him.
He's caught by surprise that you would leave yourself so unguarded around him, and he's unsure of himself as it's been the first time someone has willingly and essentially cuddled up against him. So outwardly he may be tense, but internally, he's an emotional mess and is having an existential crisis on what to do.
He has never allowed himself to entertain the idea of ever letting someone get close to him since the passing of his family.
So. Does he silently remove you from your position and let you sleep on the couch alone, covering you with his coat?
Or does he give in and eventually fall asleep with you. Only to have Bucky and Sam discover the two of you fast asleep later on.
Because.....of course that would happen. Drama!
(I just love exploring Zemo's internal turmoil)
-----
Helmut Zemo x Reader
5 times you were un-expectantly trapped between a wall and Zemo and the 1 time you meant to be on purpose.
That's it. That's the prompt.
(I think this could be a fun fic to write re-telling certain events from TFATWS)
-----
Helmut Zemo x Reader
An earthquake hits Riga, trapping you, Zemo, Bucky and Sam in different parts of the city.
Who gets to you first?
This could be an interesting internal character study for Zemo as I believe it would cause him to relive the trauma of losing his family all over again. As we know he spent two days trying to find them after the events at Novi Grad. Maybe he's not even in a relationship with the reader yet, but realizes how much time he's wasted not expressing how he feels, so he scrambles to locate you and hope you aren't dead.
(This is a prompt, I might be tempted to write at some point)
-----
Helmut Zemo x Reader
Dr. Strange pays Sam, Bucky, Zemo and you a visit informing Sam he has to leave their universe and attempt to fix the multiverse mess that Loki has created. So he gives him an enchanted device should he need to get ahold of him.
The Cloak of Levitation is quite fond of you. Zemo unassumingly gets jealous.
(This is pure crack!fic. LMAO. Only because I would love him to throw a fit that only you are allowed to wear his clothes *cough* coat *cough* and he doesn't like the fact that the Cloak of Levitation keeps wrapping itself around you like your it's property.)
-----
Laszlo Kreizler x Reader
Laszlo asks you to go to the opera with him. At first you are quite touched Dr. Kreizler has asked you to be his companion for the evening, only to realize by intermission he is using you to attract attention from a wealthy aristocrat who may have ties to the killer.
Hurt by his underlying manipulation, you have an argument with him afterwards, raising doubts that you don't know whether there was a part of Dr. Kreizler that actually wanted you there with him genuinely or not because he never shared his plan with you. Too upset to let him explain, you storm off.
You roam the streets aimlessly and wind up in a part of town you aren't familiar with, not realizing you strayed so far from the opera house.
When you turn back you notice an abandoned building with the name Baxter written across it, which sparks recognition of possible locations the killer may be using to murder his victims before dumping them in various odd places around the city.
You thought about calling Dr. Kreizler to inform him of your findings, but you're too emotional and angry with him, so you decide to go snooping around the building on your own.
What happens to the reader? And does the reader make it back to Laszlo in one piece?
(A fic prompt I am also potentially intrigued to write, but haven't had time)
-----
Niki Lauda x Reader
You are a long time friend of Niki's. You don't work for his team, but you show your support whenever he's close enough for you watch him race.
You strike up a friendship with James Hunt, much to Lauda's dismay. He doesn't show any jealousy, but obviously tries to steer you clear of Hunt knowing his reputation off the track. He sees him as reckless and dangerous.
Niki is unaware you have been in love with him for quite some time, but he never seemed to show any interest, so you kept your unrequited love to yourself.
It wasn't until you had to drag Lauda and Hunt back to the hotel they were staying at that started to shift how Niki really saw you.
You were being incredibly cautious with your new car and driving at the normal speed limit the road called for. Hunt was in the backseat arguing about how his grandmother could drive faster than you, and that they would never get back to the hotel in time to make a party he intended going to.
He may or may not have also invited you.
Lauda starts bickering with Hunt as he has no problems with driving at a reasonable speed back to the hotel.
You decide to shut them both up by showing off your own set of driving skills, which promptly caused all chatter in the car to cease.
You basically leave the boys speechless and get out of your car without so much as a passing glance to either one of them.
Hunt ends up being grateful and attempts to persuade you to attend the party with him, but you decline.
Niki, however has different plans in mind as you have left him impressed and slightly turned on at how well you maneuvered your car through the outskirts of the city, causing him to re-evaluate his feelings for you over time.
Where do we go from here?
(I kind of like this prompt. I'd like to think Niki would be obtuse to some degree and need some sort of action to jolt him out of his stupor having known you for so long. There are a lot of different directions this idea could go in.)
-----
That's it for now! If you've gotten this far, thank you for reading my silly rambles.

With the end of Loki Season 1 and all that is implied by the end of WandaVision and the new Doctor Strange Multiverse of Madness movie, it is clear that the MCU multiverse is here to stay.  It is also clear that the One Who Remains (*cough* Kang *cough*) we met in the last episode is the one who defeated ALL OF HIS VARIANT counterparts and he will return and perhaps win again. That is a terrifying thought. In the meantime, we will have lots of variant version of him.
So this could be a god awful mess of characters used and then abandoned like broken toys, and lack of continuity, and gaping plot holes. This gives the MCU writers a huge out to get very lazy (and seeing what happened with the Star Wars Sequels you know it could happen here and ruin good characters with plots that make NO SENSE! I’m looking at you Palpatine!!!) I mean why bother to write a good script since continuity can be rewritten in a second and inconsistencies can be magic handwaved away?
As someone who likes the MCU and before that Marvel and DC comics, I am of the opinion that the MCU can only pull this off for the next phases and pull it off WELL one of two ways:
1. They set a series of “in universe” rules on how the multiverse works. Who can travel. How can they travel. What is the effect of a multiverse war, of moving verses, of changing etc. How does this work alongside the already existing MCU rules (and I use that term loosely here) when it comes to time travel. Consistent world building will be key here. (I’m think of Jack the Giant Killer, that movie with Ewan McGregor that barely made a blip in the movie world but had GREAT consistent world building and internal magic rules). It will only be a good solid story arc if we have a consistent set of rules for all the MCU and for the character variations.
or
2. They embrace the crack. They embrace aaaaalll the crack. Anything really does go. The actors bring it so so hard, they chew on the scenery. They jump in the lobster tank. The writers explain nothing. Is Colson alive? Is he dead? Is Agent Carter canon? How many Lokis are alive? Does it really matter? They make a beautiful cracktastic mess of everything fan fiction style. The MCU literally looks like AO3 by the end of this, complete with coffee shop AUs side by side AOB and de-aging fics involving Alligator Loki and Howard the Duck.  We’re talking Deadpool breaking the 4th wall for everyone here. All the Spider people. Mutants. Every. Single. Disney property making a cameo or getting a call out. Hell, have Grogu show up at Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngers. They make this work by just embracing the chaos.
That’s the only way this will work.
I’m secretly voting for option 2.

MCU Sinister Six Roster Speculation (long-form)
Spider-Man No Way Home is all but confirmed to include the multiverse, Doctor Strange, and the Sinister Six which features three of the previous Sony cinematic Spidey villains:
Alfred Molina’s Doc Ock
Jamie Foxx’s Electro
& William Dafoe’s Green Goblin
If we take into consideration that this is in fact the MCU’s Sinister Six and not to be part of the Sony-Disney joint custody Venom/Morbius limbo then we should also include:
Michael Keaton’s Vulture
& Jake Gyllenhaal’s Mysterio
Four out of these five make up the original Six from the comics (no Goblin) with Sandman and Kraven the Hunter rounding them off. Here’s where it does get iffy because if he do consider limbo picks we know that Sony recently cast the real MCU Quicksilver actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson as its Kraven the Hunter for a solo film. And then we also know that MCU Vulture was supposed to crossover in Sony’s Morbius presumably in a prison scene where Vulture and Morbius meet.
Either one makes Six but now let’s focus back on the MCU. There is Bokeem Woodbine’s Shocker and Michael Mando’s Mac Gargan who is set up to be Scorpion both of whom could possibly reprise their roles but where either one of them make Six again. So what options are there to kinda limit this search for Six?
My guess is that whoever the mystery Sixth person is would be in charge seemingly cancelling out thugs like Shocker and Scorpion. They would also need to be able to have the capabilities of accessing the multiverse to cross over the previous villains which cancels out the Kraven and Morbius as well. So while that doesn’t seem to have limited the guesses I have three that I feel incredibly strong about:
Kingpin Wilson Fisk: You mean like what Sony’s Spider-Man Into the Spider-Verse did? I mean EXACTLY like the Academy Award Winning Best Animated Feature Film that beat not one but TWO Disney movies! Vincent D’Onofrio’s Wilson Fisk already exists in the MCU proper but recently he was rumored to have been added to the Hawkeye series as well. I have been rambling how Sonny Burch (Ant-Man and The Wasp) works for someone pretty powerful but he also made note to Hope “You think that I don't know what you've been building with all of this Quantum Technology? You can forget nano-tech. Forget A.I. Forget cryptocurrency. Quantum Energy is the future. It's the next gold rush. I want in.” That’s some serious knowledge for a mid-level shot-caller. What if Fisk is Burch’s boss? You follow the general plot that Fisk wants to reclaim legitimate power and authority behind philanthropic/business fronts. One of his investments is in a crazy former AIM (bring them back) Quantum Physicist named Dr Otto Octavius (Molina) who is trying to crack Quantum Energy. Octavius uses a harness he wears that controls four powerful limbs that assist in building massive Quantum tunnels because in no way can you get Quantum Energy from a machine that fits in the back of a truck... Anyways Octavius succeeds in finding a way into another dimension. Fisk takes this news and instead of simply running to a big press conference he sees an opportunity to become a hero to society if he can kill this public menace who murdered the superhero Mysterio assuming he actually died. In order to not have the murder trace back to him he doesn’t just use out of town killers but out of dimension killers which includes Green Goblin and Electro, and now a real multiversal Mysterio Daniel Berkhart (not Quentin Beck but still played by Gyllenhaal) who has some crazy illusion tech from his own dimension. Fisk also financially leverages a reluctant Vulture because he has experience against Spidey. This plays out level boss battle style with Kingpin being the final boss. This guess supports the rumor the Charlie Cox will reprise his role as Daredevil Matt Murdock within the film.
MCU Norman Osborn (not played by Dafoe): Talk about multiverse! Continuing me doubling down on my big guesses have Osborn be the person who bought Avengers Tower in Spider-Man Homecoming and rename it OSCORP. Within it and over the past 5+ MCU years Norman Osborn has been experimenting with Quantum Energy with the goal of solving time travel much like Tony Stark did (that no one knows about but the brilliant Norman Osborn came to that conclusion with Quantum tech himself). Have him succeed only then fall under Doctor Strange’s radar. Strange who then has his hands full with what Loki and Wanda are doing to the multiverse decides to ask Peter to stop Norman from messing with things beyond his control because “the universe depends on it”. Spidey agrees and does it in the most Spidey way which is just unintentional destruction of property seemingly destroying the machine which ends in an accident that exposes Norman to Quantum Energy that will later turn him into the Goblin. Norman starts to hear voices believing he is going crazy when it is really Quantum Entanglement just like between Janet Van Dyne and Scott Lang. Villains from other universes are calling out to kill the bug and so Norman gets back to work rebuilding the Quantum tunnel like a maniac to silence the voices. Doc Ock and Electro are brought to the MCU along with another Norman Osborn (Dafoe) who is already full on crazy. Mysterio Quentin Beck is revealed to have only faked his death and comes to MCU Norman with a plan to kill Spidey after learning about what he did at Oscorp. Vulture is again reluctantly recruited with money because of his previous experience. This plays out mob style with relentless combinations of team up attacks the ultimately leads to a Six on bug boss battle. This guess supports the growing concept of multiverse in the MCU by having two Norman’s from different timelines while also bringing the franchise in full circle paying off the moving day from Homecoming.
Nightmare/Other: Ultimately this would be the Doctor Strange 2 villain who is rumored to be Nightmare but regardless should be a multidimensional threat but I’ll use him for now. With Wanda and Loki breaking the timelines this threat is freed from the limits of or the imprisonment of their dimension and are out to send the multiverse into madness. In doing so they find themselves on earth where they will begin their takeover but must first defeat their greatest threat there. Tracing power back to the Sanctum Sanctorum they find Peter Parker hiding out there instead of Strange. Mistakening Peter for Strange in the case of Nightmare he feeds on Peter’s fears which after recent events is that ALL his villains would come after his friends and family. Nightmare existing as a multi-dimensional being therefore summons Spidey rogues Green Goblin, Doc Ock, and Electro from multiple timelines and a couple from the MCU which in turn frees Vulture from jail and reveals Mysterio as alive from wherever he was hiding out at. Nightmare incites the rest of the Six to do his bidding through their own fears but Strange of course returns in time to reclaim Nightmare back into his own dimension for a future showdown. This plays out Nightmare of Elm Street (horror) style with the villains hiding out for Peter and attacking when he least expects it with the goal for Peter to survive the night until Strange arrives as opposed to battles to win. This guess doubles down on Strange’s confirmed cameo in the film because why else need the help of the Sorcerer Supreme if not because of a threat that “could destroy life on a scale hitherto undreamt of”.

a blip in the reader-verse
chapter 2: white picket fence
previous chapter
chapter summary: you learn a bit more about the situation at hand, and gain a sliver of hope for the future
pairing: steve rogers x reader
warnings: angst, but a temporary happy ending
word count: 1.9k
author’s note: hopefully the trajectory of this fic will make a little more sense after this chapter, and the next. all feedback and reblogs are appreciated & let me know if you’d like to be added to the story’s tag list!
A breeze blew by idly, shaking the flowers that surrounded you in the field just slightly. You seemed to be lost in your own head, relaxing on your back and basking in the serenity of watching the sunrise. The soft crunch of footsteps approaching alerted you of someone else’s presence, and you moved your gaze to follow the sound.
You were shocked at the vision of your lover, although he seemed to be a frequent subject of your thoughts and dreams these days. Still, you gasped out, “Steve?”
“Y/N,” he responded excitedly, nearly sliding in an attempt to sit down next to you.
“How did you find me here?” your brows furrowed as you looked at the man, something a bit off about his presence.
“You know that I’d find you anywhere,” he told you, looking over at you as you shook your head, and turned your away from him.
“Then why did you leave?” You asked, biting back bitter tears. “You promised me that you’d never leave, you muttered with a wobble in your voice.
He reached a calloused hand out to your face, and gently turned it back towards him. “I’m so sorry. I made a really big mistake, an-and now I can’t get back. I’m gonna try to find you, but you have to help me.”
“You’re just my brain telling me what I want to hear,” you whimpered, sitting up.
“No Y/N, it’s me. Really me. It’s so hard to explain, but I messed up really bad. I need you to try to find me too. But I don’t even know if we’re in the same universe anymore.”
You gave Steve a strange look at this point, wiping your face with the back of your hand and huffing softly. This did seem a bit far fetched for your subconscious to conjure up on its own.
A loud and sharp sound interrupted your thoughts, and in an instant, the field of flowers began to fade into obscurity, daffodils and pink tulips turning to nothing more than smudges of pastels against a similarly smudged pale sunrise.
Yet through the dissolving of the dream, and the distorted noise of what you could only assume was your alarm clock, Steve remained. He grabbed your hand and squeezed it tightly. “I just want to be with you again. Please,” he paused, “bring me back home.” He begged, “back to you,” he pleaded before vanishing as well.
You woke up in a pool of your own sweat, your phone’s alarm ringing obnoxiously, as you used one hand to turn it off, and another to dry the steady stream of tears that had escaped your eyes at some point during your rest.
You had to admit, that was a rather bizarre dream. You’d had your fair share of dreams about Steve since his departure, yet none as vivid as this. Although it was just a dream, it felt like something more. A message, even. You grabbed your phone, and rushed to type in a recap of the event into your notes app, before rubbing the rest of the sleep out of your eyes, and heading out to the kitchen of the Compound to find someone else to confide in.
Lo and behold, Banner stood in the kitchen steeping a cup of green tea.
“Morning, Y/N. How’d you sleep?” He asked, taking a sip of the drink, before taking a seat at the dining table.
You chuckled softly to yourself, and approached the Nespresso machine, “That’s a great question. I guess I slept fine, but Steve was there.”
“Again?” Bruce questioned, setting down his mug.
“Yeah, but it was kind of different. He basically told me that he was stuck and needed me to help him,” you popped a pod into the machine, then slid your own mug under the spout.
“That is different,” Bruce agreed. “What do you think is going on in that brain of yours?”
“No idea. It was just so weird, because he told me that he thinks he’s in a completely different universe. Uh, he was just being vague about some mistake he’d made.”
“Hmm,” Bruce grumbled pensively while the sound of your coffee pouring also filled your ears “What do you think happened? Weird dream, or meaningful dream?”
You shrugged hopelessly, then looked down at the floor as Natasha entered the room. “Morning, assholes,” she greeted, shuffling over to where you were standing by the counter, and giving you a classic Nat half hug upon seeing your bloodshot eyes, indicating another tumultuous night. “How’re you holding up, babe?”
You simply shrugged again in response, grabbing your now filled mug, and setting it down on the counter.
“She had another dream about him,” Bruce informed Nat.
“You poor thing,” she said genuinely, despite her words’ sarcastic nature. As you sat down at the counter seats, Nat began to make her own drink. “I know you guys were close, but it might be time to let go. You need closure, and maybe allowing yourself to grieve will help you to not dream about him so often.”
You stared down into the dark liquid, and frowned as you saw a hint of your unkempt reflection. “Yeah, you’re right. But I’m worried. What he was saying in my dream was basically a cry for help. I know, it could just be me projecting, but it just felt so real…” your voice trailed off, and you glanced up to see Bruce and Natasha sharing a concerned look.
“You guys think I’m crazy don’t you? Great. Fine. I’m gonna go train,” You muttered, grabbing your mugs handle and slipping out of your seat before leaving the kitchen. You couldn’t stand being judged in that moment. Was a little support from your friends too much to ask for?
——
Aware that your teammates didn’t believe the weight of your dreams, you seeked out Wanda, and practically begged her to read your memories and relay them back to the team as a way to gain another witness, and possibly get Steve the help that he might need.
If Steve was truly trapped in another universe, perhaps the scientists on the team could create technology that could help bring him back.
As you’d expected, Wanda giving her testimony on what she’d seen in your subconscious to your teammates had helped your case significantly. Although a bit hesitant, Tony and Bruce were desperate to get Steve back, and if it meant going on a wild goose chase, they were open to taking that risk.
Sooner than later, a small watch was created that seemed to be able to harbor the ability to jump into different universes throughout the multiverse.
You were sitting in the common room, playing a game of chess with Thor, when the trifecta of Tony, Bruce, and Wanda approached you with a small device that appeared to be some sort of smart watch.
“Y/N, you’re going on a mission,” Tony began. “We have good reason to believe that Steve is in fact, in some other universe somewhere in the multiverse. We have no idea how he contacted you, but if your connection to him is strong enough that he can talk to you in your dreams, there’s not a doubt, well, maybe like three doubts, in my mind that you can find him in a different universe.” The watch was passed into your hand.
“Some things we’ve figured out through a few practice runs is that in these universes, you already kind of technically exist. You may have to try to come up with certain memories on the spot, but for the most part, you should remember what your life is like in that universe as soon as you get there, and fit right in.
Now, the time that you can stay varies in each universe. For some, it’s a long time. Maybe even years. But in others, you might only be able to stay for a matter of minutes. It really just depends on how time works in their reality. About thirty seconds before you’re automatically sent to a different reality, you’ll get a little vibration on your wrist that’ll tell you it’s time to go.
If you need to leave before that vibration, there’s a setting that allows you to do so. You can also come back to this specific universe anytime you need to, but we’re under the impression that it’ll take less of an overall toll on you if you just go straight from one universe to the next.” Bruce added.
“Remember, your mission is to find Steve and bring him back, okay? There are infinite amounts of universes out there, so there are infinite versions of Steve you might come across. Please don’t bring whoever else you might fall in love with back here,” Wanda teased. “We don’t need any more trouble with the time and universe cops.”
You chuckled stiffly, but were trying to really absorb the information you’d just been loaded with.
“You can leave whenever you’re ready. Right now, tonight, a week. Whenever, okay?” Bruce told you, and you simply nodded. “Alright. Safe travels, okay?”
“Yeah. Thank you guys, seriously.”
“You think we’re doing this for you? We want our Capsicle back!” Tony teased. You shook your head fondly, then exited the room, going to your bedroom for some peace and quiet, and to attempt to process everything you’d just heard.
You wrapped the watch band across your wrist, then scrolled up and down the interface, surprised at everything it could do. Yet,  before you could even say ‘wow,’ the world seemed to fade to black.
——
When you opened your eyes, you were standing in the same field outside of the compound that you’d been standing in just a few days prior, reliving the final moments you’d shared with Steve.
Except, Steve wasn’t the one standing on the platform. In fact, Steve was standing next to you, his hand squeezing yours in the comforting manner that you’d grown to know over the past six years. The both of you watched Thor wave a friendly goodbye, then disappear into thin air.
You were at a loss for words. It felt like a do-over more than anything else, but you tried not to get ahead of yourself and mess anything else in the universe up, in an attempt not to cause another butterfly effect..
“This is all finally gonna be over,” Steve said, pulling his hand away from yours, so he could wrap his arm around you tightly. “All of this pain and suffering, all of the stress from those Goddamn stones.”
You nodded wordlessly, in a bit of shock from seeing the man that appeared to be your Steve, and feeling his comforting touch after what had felt like a lifetime without it.
“Maybe we can finally start over. Move into the suburbs, have a few kids, the whole white picket fence,” he sighed softly, imagining an ideal future with you beside him.
You nodded, barely being able to think with the overstimulation of being in Steve’s presence. All you could do was inhale deeply into Steve’s chest, and ignore the soft vibration on your wrist, alerting you of your departure. “I love you Steve,” was all you could muster as you mumbled into his chest.
“Let’s go home.”

‘Loki’ Gives Tom Hiddleston’s Antihero the Spotlight, but Sticks to Marvel’s Superhero Basics: TV Review
It should only take a few minutes before “Loki” viewers know whether they’re down for what the show is serving up or too tired of the Marvel Cinematic Universe machine to follow this chapter of its increasingly complex saga.
[NOTE: Maybe read further after you've seen the first ep 😁]
The new Disney Plus show — the third under Marvel’s burgeoning TV offshoot — opens with dashing villain Loki (Tom Hiddleston) in the Avengers’ custody circa the 2012 movie that first brought the team together. In this version of those events, however, Loki manages to escape — thus upending the reality in which the character eventually dies at the hands of Thanos and freeing him up to anchor a show all his own.
Unfortunately for this Loki, his spontaneous getaway gambit sends him straight into the path of an armored guard (Wunmi Mosaku) who stares him down and declares that, “on behalf of the Time Variants Authority, I hereby arrest you for crimes against The Sacred Timeline.” Imbuing such a wholeheartedly cheesy line with hyperbolic gravitas is a superhero story staple, and yet this one’s grim righteousness still made me laugh in a way it was probably not supposed to.
For a new Marvel production, introducing a powerful league of militaristic cops is practically a prerequisite for whatever story is yet to come. But it’s nevertheless a bit of a letdown when you realize halfway through the dense first episode that one of the MCU’s ostensibly most unpredictable lead characters has somehow landed in the most predictable of setups.
To be fair, some of this irony is by design. As written by Michael Waldron, Loki very purposefully couldn’t be a worse fit for the monochromatic, bureaucratic order of the Time Variants Authority (or “TVA”), nor more offended when he understands exactly what it represents. As a chipper cartoon clock (“Miss Minutes”) informs him in an explanatory animated video, the TVA is an organization tasked with keeping every multiverse moving forward on the same “sacred timeline” as prescribed by three almighty  “Timekeepers,” which sometimes means snuffing out “Variants” like Loki who might mess it up.
The implication, Loki quickly grasps with real horror, is that there’s almost nothing anyone can do to change their fate; even his tricks are preordained parts of the greater whole. That emphasis on fate, paired with Kasra Farahani’s deliberately drab and vaguely midcentury production design, is what sets the TVA apart from something like SHIELD, though both share the same affection for unilateral authority and quips without punchlines.
I’ll leave it to bigger Marvel fans than me who can unravel exactly what the TVA’s level of authority means for the MCU at large. At first glance, though, it does seem as though the mere existence of the TVA should have huge implications, especially as upcoming big screen installments are set to explore the multiverse in more depth (including “Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness,” also written by Waldron). For now, Loki has found himself outsmarted by this seemingly omniscient organization, forcing him to reluctantly team up with Agent Mobius (Owen Wilson), who’s convinced Loki can help them sift through an infinite number of timelines to track down one particularly pernicious Variant.
Only two episodes of “Loki” were screened for critics, making it hard to know exactly how successful the 6-episode season might be in shaping its own identity within the onscreen Marvel universe. Of these first two episodes, however, the second was far more engaging. The pilot has such an extraordinary amount of ground to cover that director Kate Herron only gets a couple opportunities to find humor in between the exposition, and Hiddleston can barely get into the pithy groove that made Loki such a standout in the first place. The second, at least, can have a bit more fun.
Waldron’s scripts do their best throughout to layer in moments of pathos for its central antihero to make clear exactly where his head is at in this point of his life. (To make it even clearer: this version of Loki has only lived through the events of the first “Thor” movie and “The Avengers.”) By the time Wilson’s Mobius extracts Loki from the TVA’s courtroom, presided over by an annoyed judge (Gugu Mbatha-Raw), Loki is so exhausted and annoyed that he can barely muster the energy to resist too many of Mobius’ probing questions about his end goals. “Why does someone with so much range just want to rule?” Mobius asks, voice thick with pity and admiration. Loki has no good answer besides the one he’s resisted ever since arriving at the TVA: he wants to rule because harboring that burning desire is just his fate.
After establishing all the wheres and whys, the series is then free to move on to the second episode, which gives Loki a bit more room to explore his surroundings and make some calculations of his own. (Emphasis on “a bit”; Hiddleston never quite gets enough time to play around with his character given the show’s pressing need to get to the next timeline and/or twist.) From there, the show establishes a new rhythm as Loki, Mobius and Time Monitor B-15 (Mosaku) ricochet throughout time. Given his experience on “Rick and Morty,” Waldron is comfortable with this dynamic of an odd couple traveling through time and space to potentially disastrous results, but still constrained by the ever-complicating Marvel narrative web surrounding Loki and Mobius. The end of the second episode teases an intriguing new direction for the series to take, but without knowing what happens next, it’s hard to say how much it might deviate from the usual script.
The most fun “Loki” has is when Hiddleston and Wilson get to banter — a distinction from when Mobius playacts as Loki’s placid therapist, a dynamic neither the character nor actor can fully sell. But Wilson’s singular comedic delivery, which somehow combines both a dry deadpan and puppy dog enthusiasm still strikes an amusing balance against Hiddleston, especially when he gets to drop Loki’s existential angst for genuine curiosity about the strange new world around him. And yet: when Loki sighs in frustration about the TVA’s tedious overreach dictating his story when he could be doing something much more dangerous and strange, it’s hard not to agree.
“Loki” premieres Wednesday, June 9, on Disney Plus.

WandaVision Finale!
Okay, that finale was AMAAAAAZING! Everything about it… Particularly, I love that with all of these references to American, black-and-white television shows, we got a bit straight out of what felt like The Twilight Zone! Let me tell you, when Dottie came up to Wanda and started begging to be with her daughter, bargaining, playing with the role and trying to appeal, even offering up her daughter for the antagonistic, demonized role of bully, just to be with her; That was INCREDIBLY messed-up and really shook me up, as did everyone else in that sequence! It was utterly wonderful, and really, the entire premise and set-up DOES seem like a Twilight Zone episode; Perhaps the final homage/allusion by this series?
The Vision battle was great, some much-needed action and usage of Vision’s powers that we needed. I love how Vision manages to talk down the White counterpart with logic and existential thought… The philosophical, almost deconstructive way Vision deals with stuff and life isn’t cold, but rather appreciative, like someone taking apart a clock and marveling in how its put together; They don’t rage at the clock for no longer upholding the undefinable illusion it used to have…
And of course, the idea of ‘illusion’ I feel applies to Westview as well. The difference being that Westview’s mechanisms are inherently immoral, but the way Vision gets down to the basics and fundamentals of things in his almost wondrous, childlike curiosity- It’s great. He’s questioning everything, but in anticipation and acceptance of an answer, he does not view the world with cold disdain the way someone like Ultron would.
The Theseus Ship paradox was a wonderful discussion, as was the suggested answer that either neither of them are the ship, or they both are! As is Vision’s constantly poetic talk of how the ship is more the experience and memories, so if they’re attached to either, then sure- They’re both the same! I love for a hypothetically cold android, this dude is so poetic and marveling at everything. He should be a writer, a poet… But that’s not happening anytime soon; But it doesn’t mean it won’t EVER happen, either! As Vision realized, they’ve said goodbye before, only to say hello again… I love his little way of looking through and exploring loopholes in apparent certainties, both at the end and with White Vision.
Not gonna lie though, I half-expected/anticipated for White Vision to emerge with Ultron’s mind, once Vision reawakened those memories, and I have to wonder where he is. I was kind of hoping both Visions would merge together to complete a true one, given how both acknowledge that the other has something that they don’t. White Vision is still out and about though; And I like the clever usage of color, with blue representing the cold and mechanical Ultron side of him, and yellow being the Mind Stone, but most importantly Vision. And I LOVE the idea that Scarlet Witch has the last remainder of an Infinity Stone within her, preserved like her love for Vision; Some things you can’t truly eradicate, Thanos!
That reference to the Darkhold from Agents of SHIELD was great, and I imagine it’ll come into play now that Wanda’s taken it from Agatha. How Agatha got it, I have to wonder; But that’s a story for another day, I presume. I guess she’s been brainwashed truly as Agnes and is doing her own thing in Westview, without anyone to realize she doesn’t quite belong; Or maybe they will? What a wonderfully poetic, vicious fate for her character- She faked it all, and now she gets to be real! The idea of playing a ‘part’ is just a fascinating motif in this show for me, and I’m sure there’s some philosophical stuff I could dredge up about that term, ‘stories’, from my Philosophy class.
Wish we got some more resolution with Darcy, and Hayward kind of just left; But I do appreciate how we could’ve gotten a bit of an all-out brawl, with the SWORD agents targeting Agatha and how she alludes to the Salem Witch Trials! Also the allusion to the Sorcerer Supreme, AKA Doctor Strange, was great- And things are still complicated with how Wanda more maturely vouches to save those agents, even if they’re also against her… She knows that people’s dislike and hostility is pretty valid. It’ll be interesting how she’ll own up to the ‘role’ of Scarlet Witch now, as a lot of her vilification came from her own actions, admittedly. I imagine she’s going to try and it do it on her own terms, see what loopholes in the requirements she can exploit- Much like her husband Vision would! Also, Tommy and Billy having to dissipate when Vision at least understands and accepts IS messed up, so I can see why Wanda feels the need to rescue her children, who definitely don’t deserve this.
I do have to wonder if that last scene is a hint that Wanda hasn’t fully moved on, or if she HAS, but of course Tommy and Billy don’t deserve to die just for her character development! Really that dilemma and sad ending was handled so well, I half-expected Wanda to isolate the Hex to just her house, or maybe focus all of the energy of the Hex into maintaining JUST Vision, Tommy, and Billy. Maybe she’s consulting her chapter in the Darkhold for info on that? Either way, I like how she’s prepared and kept all of her assets in place in case she ever needs them, such as Agatha, now Agnes! There’s a very spiteful and utilitarian way she handles herself now, reminiscent of a villain who keeps tabs on their friends and enemies; Wanda seems to be doing the typical steps of a villain, but hasn’t exactly committed to it; And maybe never will, again, it’ll be interesting how she exploits her role as Scarlet Witch. I love the callback to those runes, how a scene that could’ve been written off as magical world building foreshadowed and came back into play; Such a simple and obvious trick, but one I always fall for because I’m so invested and IN the world!
Also, I think that lake Wanda lives by, might be the one where Sokovia’s remains landed? If so, then that’s incredibly fitting; A watery grave for her home and memories, huh? I wonder if Pietro, the real one, is buried here- It makes sense, Agatha alludes to Pietro not being buried in North America (nor South America if you want to get into technicalities), so of course their home country, or what’s left of it, is ideal! The site where he died, lowkey; Although that was arguably several miles above, but still. This third-world country that everyone dismissed and ignored has now had a major legacy that is felt across the world… It’s been heard, huh? I’m not sure why Wanda’s maintaining that illusion of herself, is she just practicing, maybe creating a front in case anyone notices activity, checks out, and then assumes it’s ‘just’ some random lady?
I can only imagine how Doctor Strange will tie into this! Probably with the Nexus of All Realities and the Darkhold, and of course the Scarlet Witch’s role as a potential threat to the Sorcerer Supreme; And hopefully with what we’ve seen of Agatha making note of magic belonging to the ‘deserving’ and being able to take it from others… Baron Mordo, perhaps? Maybe he’ll make his return interrogating Agnes as he tries to track down the Scarlet Witch, seeing her as a threat… Dang, now Mordo’s reminding me of Emperor Belos from The Owl House, with the whole belief that after chaos and bloodshed, magic should instead be isolated to only the deserving who prove themselves, and whatnot! Now I’m even in MORE interested and hopeful for Mordo with this comparison!
Likewise, the allusion to the Nexus in that commercial made me wonder if New Jersey would be the location for the Nexus of All Realities in the MCU, but now that Wanda’s left, it’s possible she’ll track down its location to Louisiana, just in the comics! Still hoping for Man-Thing in the MCU, maybe we’ll get a setup for him! I’m telling you Feige, this is your chance to make a Frankenstein/Iron Giant type of film, a misunderstood monster story to incorporate into the MCU, what with your exploration of new genres beginning particularly in Wandavision! Also iirc the Darkhold has a corrupting influence on those who read it… But the last people who did were regular humans, is Scarlet Witch above such things? Or will the Darkhold mess with her, too- An external force that disrupts her character development by corrupting her? I’m just in even more anticipation for Multiverse of Madness to be trippy and horrifying.
Overall, what a WONDERFUL conclusion, and an incredibly satisfying finale to this series, while still paving the way for new stories! It seems Photon’s story has just begun, now that Nick Fury has sent a Skrull to invite her; Maybe for the Captain Marvel sequel? I’d assume the sequel deals with the fall of the Supreme Intelligence, which takes place before 2014; Nine years before Monica gets her powers! Something had to have happened to lead to the Kree’s peace treaties with everyone that angered Ronan…Well, we’ll see!
And White Vision, we’ll see what happens with him, what existential crisis he’ll get into, poor dude; He’s arguably the original Vision, except traumatized and questioning himself! I’m surprised Wanda didn’t go after him, did she assume he was destroyed? Or has she just moved on, focusing on her sons? We’ll have to see… Vision did allude to him reuniting with Wanda, so perhaps Wanda can use her powers to gather the Mind Stone’s scattered atoms within the fragment she holds, and reform an Infinity Stone to truly resurrect Vision, from his white template! Perhaps that’s how the Nexus will come into play, as a place to draw together such cosmic power that was once scattered by the Mad Titan…
Wish we got to see more of Darcy and Woo, as well as Fietro; Him being confirmed as Ralph was great, as was that little hilarious man-cave segment of his, fitting into what would’ve been his time period. I’m a bit disappointed he’s just some dude, but at least there’s the meta gag… I LOOOOVE Scarlet Witch’s new outfit, it’s such a stylish red dress/cape and crown, love how it’s repeatedly invoked as a symbol for her; Wanda finally gets to own her classic costume, her tiara! The bit where her ‘shirt’ meets the pants reminds me of fangs and the points on her tiara, I love that sharp and threatening visual cohesion! And with all that in mind, here’s hoping to The Falcon & Winter Soldier as our next installment into the MCU! And one day, we’ll finally get that Black Widow movie released… One day!

Thoughts on Wandavision
Spoilers duh.
I started this out as a boredom watch as in eh why not. I was not really invested until Evan Peters showed up. Evan Peters aka the guy who played quicksilver in the X-men fox universe. With DoFP being my favorite partially because of quicksilver. So naturally I became way more invested in the show, not only that but I became hyper-fixated on X-men as a result.
So marvel brings in this actor and all the fans of the X-men are like yeah duh that makes sense, especially considering Wanda is heavily involved with MoM, the movie about the freakin multiverse. So fans of X-men and doctor strange (of which I am both) become exited for the possibilities that this opens up. Excitement builds and as a result people end up watching more content on Disney+ whether it be the movies shows ect.
And then they go and say nope it’s not. And even if they do retcon it it’s still a really crappy thing to have done. And what do I mean, this is part of marvel trying to surprise fans through subverting expectations. And yes sometimes it’s nice, but other times you end up with a mess that leaves more questions than answers.
Take Endgame and Infinity war. Now I knew that Thanos was going to win in infinity war. It was a matter of how he would win. But part of my issue with infinity war is that it felt like it barely spent time exploring how the different characters would interact with each other because there were too many and it would have blocked the narrative from moving forward. Endgame had a similar issue but on top of that they were so focused on keeping everything locked up that it didn’t exactly feel like a cohesive movie. And as a result the character interactions and relationships fell quite short. Not only that but some of them made no sense, but taking a look at endgames flaws has happened enough.
So taking a look at wandavision I’m not upset that my therory is incorrect. I’m upset that one they literally did this to subvert expectations because they hate when their shows are predictable, and two people are rubbing it in our faces that we were wrong and we shouldn’t be upset because it was a theory. And what’s more is that they had an example of fans being correct and it was still surprising.
My mouth still dropped at the reveal that it was Agatha. I still was surprised even though I knew it was coming. I know a lot of people were. And I can say it was because of the fact that we got it right that we knew where it was going and it was executed in a way that still made it feel like a big reveal. So why then are they trying to surprise the fans with well it was Ralph duh haha got you.
Because for some reason marvel hates when people can predict something. Which makes me wonder why they went with the infinity war storyline and are seemingly going with the Skrull storyline if they don’t want fans to predict what’s happening? Why are they going with well known storylines from the comics if they don’t want anyone to guess what is happening? Especially if the fans know the storylines and end up becoming disappointed if you don’t include this one specific moment.
And this is an issue because it sets up fans to know how something will play out, then turning around to subvert expectations ending up with something that doesn’t quite make sense with the narrative they had set up and teased and the characters. It doesn’t work to take pre established stories and adapt them to the screen while trying to subvert expectations. You need to pick one or the other, you simply can not do both.
There’s a reason that people are so finicky when adaptations of books are brought to the screen. It’s because they enjoy those stories and they want to see it as close up on the screen as possible. They want to see how they imagine it. And yes it’s tricky because people imagine it many different ways, but with comics honestly you have a story board right there. And yes you will need to change certain things especially to fit in the budget and physics of real life. Not to mention erase some of the problematic social injustices found in the earlier comics.
And yes wandavision isn’t based on one comic story line. But that doesn’t mean it doesn’t have to be predictable. Take a look at some other examples that I can think of that either were predictable and good or subverted expectations in a positive way that didn’t confuse people.
Mandalorian: Luke Skywalker being brought in was a surprise. We knew that a Jedi might come, in fact it seemed quite likely that a Jedi would come to train Grogu. But the thing was we didn’t know who, we didn’t know if it would be Luke or another Jedi. Potentially it could have been one we hadn’t met, but we knew that one was coming and that still didn’t stop us from being surprised. And if it wasn’t Luke people wouldn’t have been mad because they left it ambiguous who the Jedi was until he was onscreen (unlike deliberately casting an actor that is known for a role then saying nope not him).
Mandalorian: This one is short but it’s a way to do both predictability and subverting expectations. The first episode of the second season was legitimately the plot from the 2003 game Knights of the Old Republic or Kotor for short. Fans of the game knew exactly how it would turn out, or at least how they would attempt to kill the dragon. They did do that, but unlike expected it didn’t work. So they tried a different tactic that paid off. As a kotor fan I expected this, I also expected the pearl at the end of the episode, but that didn’t stop me from enjoying it, and honestly I rather enjoyed it and it was fun. And I think most kotor fans would agree.
A series of Unfortunate Events: The Netflix show not the movie. In the books Olaf’s bench people get killed off, in the show they made it so that these people survive. I didn’t expect that, and it was good. The writers were still able to make something that fans of the book knew exactly what was going to happen and the general way that things were going to happen. But they adjusted things so that there were some surprises to viewers who read the books. And none of the changes were done specifically to subvert expectations they were done to enhance the story in certain ways. And they do even if they weren’t completely expected. And it still allows me to enjoy the show.
Kotor: yes I’m talking about the game and yes I’m still obsessed with it despite it being so old but also spoilers for it follow so skip if you don’t wish to know.
Kotor follows the story of a human being, they discover slowly that they were once feared across the galaxy known as the Sith Lord Darth Revan. Now can you figure out the twist through context clues absolutely. But it was not only revolutionary for the time but also knowing it still doesn’t take away the surprise feeling for a lot of players (I’m still surprised pikachu face no matter how many times I play or rewatch the cut scene).
There are many more examples but these are the ones off the top of my head.
I’m not angry at the fact that they were trying to make it surprising. I’m angry at the fact that marvel knowingly did this, and there’s no resolution at all. It’s a throwaway scene for a throwaway character played by a known actor who is known for his role as quicksilver. If it was someone else and they did this it would not be as upsetting. But the fact that marvel did this and knew exactly who they were casting to just mislead the fans is inexcusable. And maybe this isn’t the end of the storyline, but right now it is. 12 hours after the finale it absolutely seems like the end of the storyline. And that’s why people are upset because it was such a clear this is what is happening, then they develop it into just this dude. They led on it was quicksilver and we don’t even get to see the rest of the conversation that Monica has with him. We get no resolution whatsoever. And that’s what hurts the most, if they had explained hey Agatha did this and managed to somehow do X Y or Z to have this random person have powers and these memories. Now it would be cheep and people would still be upset but not as much with the incomplete explanation and the throwing it in there because they had to.
If they really wanted to subvert expectations they one shouldn’t have brought Evan Peters in to play a quicksilver (I hate saying this because I was so exited). Two shouldn’t have gone with anything to do with Agatha or even Mephisto. And a lot of people would probably wonder who they could have gone with and Tbh I don’t remember who I saw said it but Mojo would make sense. Or hell they could have brought in Evan Peters and an alternate version of Wanda who is causing this to happen and stir the pot. Either way the way they executed it was extremely poorly done and that’s why people are upset.
So please consider that for people this would have made a huge statement for. X-men fans are drawn to the X-men for many reasons. And I would say that some of those reasons are that they belong to a minority group and feel represented in the X-men. Me I’m LGBT+ and despite having grown up in a very progressive area, there are people I interact with where I don’t feel like I can be myself or even feel comfortable coming out to. And that’s why I personally am attached to the X-men. And I’ve seen other people say similar things.
For people the X-men and mutants aren’t just characters. They’re characters that marginalized groups can relate to. They’re characters that they can see themselves in. This goes much more deep than my fan theory wasn’t correct. It’s a combination of crappy writing and Marvel attempting to be surprising and the fact that they had the perfect opportunity to introduce a cast of characters that represent struggles of marginalized communities and recognize that yes the world isn’t just filled with hero’s that are cis straight abled men and women. And even if it was people from another universe it still was a step in the right direction.
So please if you’re fine with this and took the time to read this don’t make fun of the people who are quite upset with the developments of the episode. A lot of us are upset for a deeper reason and seeing people go “haha you’re wrong you idiots.” Makes this feel that much more upsetting.
