Tumblr media
Goh Katō from Pokémon Journeys: The Series is available for interaction! Goh has been added to the mobile muse list, the blog muse list, with their small blog bios done, the shipping list and then finally added to the interest check! Check him out!
uh oops his bio desc is a lil too intense OOPS anyway, very excited to introduce this character on the blog!! i’ve been binging this show since I’ve lacked writing motivation for a min (I’ve also been playing league but nnnnever play league my peeps it just breaks you) but i think i might try to come back with this character??? goh is like a younger hop which broke my heart b/c i already love hop but the show goes so much into his backstory and it’s sO INTENSE FUCK they don’t shy away from shit and that includes how goh feels and reacts to ash yes it’s canonical with my goh, he does have a crush on ash! he’s starting to notice it and question it and figure it out during his adventure - some may wonder why at ten, but everyone discovers themselves at whatever age they can - and i discovered my sexuality and gender at twelve so it ain’t a surprise y’know? but he’s so in love with ash, i don’t see him falling for anyone else so if he is shipped with an ash, it’ll be his only ship aka single ship only but im excited to write about all that too!!
i’m in part 3 rn but i heard part 4 is where SHIT GOES DOWN - also, there’s another journeys anime so i’m planning to watch that too afterwards!! i keep trying to see if there’s any filler i can skip but with the exception of one or two episodes i’ve discovered so far, each episode is crucial with story and character development - every episode matters and it shocks me such a long anime is able to do such a thing? anyway im gonna throw this boy at whoever wants him!! he’s the intelligence while ash is the emotions of their duo but goh is exploring his emotions too and learning to not be as cold as he can be sometimes (example: the ep where scorbunny evolved and its personality changed completely) and starting to understand things emotionally it’s beautiful shit yo/’

how do you get into roleplaying on a ff server? like how do you do it and how do you know if your character is lore compliant? ;A; pls youre a big inspo to me
*Hugs Nonny* Getting into RP on a FF server can vary; I don’t actually RP much these days, outside of some friends I already have connections to--and that in itself can be difficult just due to Life! It can take time, and patience, and some fits and starts.
And this gets...really really long, so buckle up and go below the cut, please. :)
The cut got broken by an edit. Sigh.
In game there’s always the RP status tag, and just doing RP with folks in public spaces. There may be trolls now and then, but they can be ignored. I personally find Balmung’s Quicksand area too busy and anxiety inducing and not actually all that conducive to actual RP, even “meet at a tavern” walk-up type. But unless you already have a ready-made group of friends/FCmates willing to RP more than some random walk-ups with you, it may take some legwork to find folks you can and want to write with.
Social Media There are a couple of RP community blogs, like @mooglemeet and @ffxiv-crystal-rp  and plenty of server-specific ones. There’s also some Discords for these communities. They host and advertise events and reblog people who are looking for RP contacts. Some of them have running gdoc calendars and in game linkshells and fellowships as well.
Shofie has a good post about Tumblr/social media RP blogging.
@shofie-ffxiv
It’s a fact now that social media outside game is a way to make contacts, or even a medium for RP itself. There are few centralized websites/forums for server RP communities anymore. Making connections over your social media, like Tumblr and Twitter, can help find RP. You can’t just throw your own character info out there or reblog prompts hoping others bite, though; you have to put in some work and show interest in others, too. This can be difficult and even scary. That’s OK.
RP is about collaboration and creating with other people, which means finding folks you can write with, and who see you as someone interesting but also interested in them and their OCs. If you want to keep it a solo endeavor focused on your own OCs, write fanfic (which I’ve actually made friends and gotten RP interests that way too through comment interactions, so hey).
If you reblog a prompt from someone, see others on your dash reblogging prompts, if people reblog that prompt post from you? Send them asks! Alternatively, don’t wait for prompts, just send asks, comments, or chats saying hello and things you notice or like about their blog/character/posts they make. Try to form connections with people you think are genuinely interesting and might be fun to talk with. Social media should be, well, social.
BUT respect boundaries, too. Don’t try sarcasm or jokes with people you don’t actually know, it tends to go over poorly. Unless someone’s specifically posting a naughty meme/prompt, keep stuff you others send clean and polite, especially if it’s unsolicited and you’re not already friends (doubly so if you don’t know how old they are IRL, there are laws you do not want to break). Respect if people aren’t open to random asks or chatting with new followers, or say “no” to RP, and know it’s not personal--it’s just what they have time, energy, and emotional/mental capacity for. Don’t give up on other people, though. This stuff can take time and effort to find those you click with.
Respect and communication with RP partners is pretty key.
Do curate your feeds and don’t be afraid to unfollow/mute/block folks, either. I’m selective in who I follow and remove as needed, too, for my own mental health. I miss so much of the discourse and drama and that’s fine by me. Also it costs nothing to not step in on a lot of the drama when it does pass in sight.
Profiles I have static RP profile pages for my girls here on Tumblr (and a lot of other static links and pages, but I’m weird about organizing like that). This way, if people want to write with me, send me prompts, if I sent them prompts, or they want to otherwise interact with my characters, the information is handily available. For some folks, this makes all the difference in who they choose to interact with: how easily can they find even basic info about your OC?
Some people make Carrds. Some folks have gdoc links, or use Dreamwidth, etc. Just keep the links in the blog’s sidebar menu, and/or in the blog desc so people can see ‘em on mobile. There are templates out there, or you can make your own. Feel free to snag mine if you’d like. A lot of times people also copy their profiles to rebloggable posts when looking for RP contacts. Profiles are a good way to let folks know just the at-a-glance basics about your character(s).
I picked a simple theme with a simple layout that makes it easy to add and show off links. I put them in the blog desc to make them easy to find on mobile, too.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
[Images: links from my blog sidebar menu showing how over organized I am]
RP, Stories, Lore Post some stories or RP logs (with permission of others involved) or even just random little blurbs and headcanons, as well as any screenshots, art, aesthetic posts for your OCs. Have something of interest to show for your character, too, so some of those folks your interacting with have something of their own to see and ask about!
If possible, try some light RP with friends and FC Mates who are amenable. Go to events, even if just to lurk at first. When you do get up the nerve to talk to people, don’t try to throw a character’s entire backstory at them, or try to steal the limelight--RP is collaboration, back and forth, and a lot like real conversation. Maybe come up with little light things to talk about if asked; a recent adventuring job, a silly shopping incident, etc. They can break the ice or just give you something to reply with for a few minutes.
Lore Compliance is Variable. Some people really want lore compliance, others are OK bending it here and there, while still others throw it out the window entirely. If you want to be super lore compliant...read. There’s a LOT of information, in game and out, for finding lore; from official publications and website material, to tools like Garland Tools site, to compilation blogs like @mirkemenagerie.
Note what’s important for your concept. Narrow it down. Characters aren’t going to know or be or do everything, so only worry about what’s necessary for the base idea. And be flexible; it’s SE’s sandbox, we just play in it, and they can change things any time. They usually do it in the guise of characters not knowing/having all the correct information, at least, but also some places just don’t exist in game yet so we don’t have info.
I’m unspecific about a lot of elements of Aeryn’s childhood, for instance, other than “traveling merchants near Thavnair.” I don’t have to be super specific. I can keep most details vague, and focus on her family and those relationships.
Dark, as my first character, has a fairly simple backstory that I’ve expanded on and adjusted over time as I learned and came up with new info. I also bet no one remembers I originally said Dark was from the North Shroud. I’ve changed things (now from East Shroud, due to the proximity to Gyr Abania and its Hellsguards) as I learned more about the world and my character. You don’t want to change things willy-nilly, but sometimes being flexible and smoothing down some rough edges and making small changes can be fine, especially as one gets more lore over time.
Iyna has a pretty detailed backstory, that came from a basic idea, and checking dates in the pre-Calamity timeline. I based her being taken and trained the way she was not only on what info we have about Garlemald’s imperial practices with conquered provinces, but borrowed a bit from real life and the re-education schools many Native Americans were forced into (though I haven’t gone into detail on that yet, either). I tied the turning point in Iyna’s life to a major event that wasn’t the Calamity, and have left plenty of space in between for me to fill in as time goes on and I learn more about her and the world.
The world isn’t static, and is bigger and more diverse than what can be shown in the game. There’s space in the margins for plenty of weird stuff and contradictions or unusual cases. So read up on what you can, ask questions, and then find where in those spaces your OC fits. Then, find people who enjoy similar tastes in lore compliance (or non-compliance), and who enjoy playing with you and your OCs, and not worrying about the rest. Can’t please everyone, nor get along with everyone, so don’t try; just find what works for you, and who works with you, and don’t police anyone else’s pretendy fun times, either.
There’s no magic answer on the “right” amount of lore compliance, or how to quickly and easily find RP partners or break into the broader RP community.
I hope this helps at least a little bit! Good luck in finding your niche for RP, and maybe I’ll see you sometime at an event :)

Do u mean how to change the color of the words in ur bio that have links?
yes but specifically after they've already been visited. the links in general are working but ive noticed that when i open my blog on mobile my desc links tend to look slightly different than the color i set them as bc ive visited them before, and for some reason adding a:visited code in the css of the theme code (and in the custom css) doesn't work, and i'm not sure how to add a:visited directly inline w the html in the blog description, or if that's even possible -- and if it is possible im not sure what the syntax would be and i haven't had any luck trying to look it up

hello! sometimes i see people putting image descriptions under read mores so it takes up less space, and in theory i like this for a few reasons (my own neurodivergence included) but i've been wondering recently: is putting it under a read more less accessable? i feel like it could be for several reasons but i'm worried about overextending the ask limit if i try to list them all, heh... point is, is it more convenient for those who need descs to leave them out from under a rm or does it matter?
This is one of those “you can do it several different ways and your approach will be wrong for somebody” questions, which is why, I think, there is no hard answer.
It would be nice if there were a magical bullet-point list one can check off to Make A Post Accessible for Everybody, but the truth is often that one person’s accessibility feature can be one person’s barrier to that same content. It’s not as simple as “a ramp helps everybody so just put one in” when it comes to text design/formatting, especially on a site as dodgy as Tumblr.
(There’s an image post of Ways To Make Your Site Accessible For Different Disabilities floating around Tumblr and the net in general, and a few of the requirements for various categories of access needs directly contradict each other. I’ll be honest: I need image descriptions for GIFs, but image descriptions make a post longer to scroll through, and that’s bad for my hands. So my own needs clash, and I am absolutely not the only disabled person in this situation.)
Note: I’m going to rant for three paragraphs about why Tumblr sucks on this point before I get to the actual point of answering your question.
The truth, the truth that frustrates me no end, is that this shouldn’t even be a conversation. Tumblr should allow you to do what we all do on WordPress: upload a photo, add a description in the alt text, and then post your image on the page. (You don’t need HTML to do this; it’s part of theWYSIWYG/rich text editor experience sites like WordPress and Tumblr provide.) Screen readers can access the alt text; those who don’t need it have nothing to scroll past. The whole issue on whether or not you tuck descriptions under a read more cut should not be a thing, because Tumblr should give us an option, after uploading the photo, to add a description via alt text. It lets us provide an image source, so providing alt text isn’t difficult.
(And those who need the alt text for processing reasons can access the alt text in other ways - right click on the image and selecting Image Info in Firefox will bring it up, for example - alt text is displayed on the line “Associated Text”.)
Tumblr is failing its disabled userbase by not allowing alt text. I can use images with alt text I’ve uploaded elsewhere inserted into a text post, but Tumblr won’t show them on dashboard view because they’re an external image. (In other words, it won’t give even those of us with HTML skills the ability to employ a workaround.) When you upload a photo yourself to Tumblr as a photo post, even if you change to HTML from rich text, you have no access to the photo’s HTML to add a description as alt text.
@staff: give us alt text!
Actual answer to your question:
Factors to consider in whether or not something goes under a cut largely include post length and how easy it is for someone to click on the “read more” link. (This could be hard for visual accessibility reasons; it can also be hard for physical/movement accessibility reasons.) I’ll be honest: things tucked under a read more cut here on Tumblr are not often read, even by able-bodied people. (Contrast to WordPress or LJ/DW, where everything is cut for convenience, but the norm is that one clicks on a post to read it fully. One’s dashboard is a very different thing in pacing and content.) This is why I don’t tuck anything more than the Extremely Ridiculously Absurdly long posts under a cut. I tag, which doesn’t help app users, but I don’t read more cut unless my length is absurd.
(Forgive me, but if I’ve spent this long on a post, I want people to read it. I know how hard it is to scroll through long posts, especially if they’re off topic or don’t interest me, but I’m a writer. Wanting people to read my words is kind of the point.)
This is why I dislike pricing or sourcing information under a cut, something often done by stim blogs. That information should be accessible, and text under a cut goes unseen by most followers. Know that, whenever you cut text. People won’t see it. We do not take the time to click the read more and open the post in a new window (especially on mobile). Important information should never go under a read more.
So. Personally, I only cut long descriptions, knowing that most people aren’t going to bother to check out the cut text (myself included). Yes, this makes posts longer and less accessible in one way, but more accessible in another. If a description takes up more than an eight-line paragraph - because anything more than that won’t be read or is too hard to skip past - then I break it up into multiple paragraphs and toss it under a read more. As one long paragraph, it isn’t readable anyway, so I don’t think I’m doing more harm by cutting it and making it readable, if harder to access. If it’s a short paragraph, though, and it doesn’t make the post itself too long, I think it is slightly more accessible to go uncut, even if it adds extra scrolling or extra text to skip past (knowing that some of us aren’t capable of extra scrolling or skipping text).
(Additionally, it’s a rough Tumblr trend to put a description immediately under the image where possible, and descriptions under a read more break that trend. The autistic in me dislikes the inconsistency. My brain is already trained to skip over the text immediately under an image if it’s wrapped in square brackets, and I like sticking to that brain training where possible.)
However, to tuck all descriptions under a read more cut isn’t wrong. The truth is that we’re in a bad situation, and any way of approaching it is flawed because the fix that would better tackle the problem (alt text) has been denied us.
Honestly, it’s just a matter of preference. I have reasons for doing it my way, but they’re not hard and fast rules, and I expect people to disagree with me (and hard) on some of my preferences.
As long as you’re doing your best (within your limitations) to be accessible and you’re reasonably consistent in what and how you’re doing it, anon, I think you’re okay.
Does that help you at all? I know it’s a lot of words for not a lot of answer!
- Mod K.A.

Can't really read that when your blog is set to automatically redirect to the dashboard and use the sidebar version, which doesn't open readmores (or is that a blog-specific glitch I occasionally get?)
I’m on mobile and a buddy says the read more works, maybe right click and open in new window? Unless you’re not on desktop.
eh I’ll just paste it here, warning, it’s a lot and rlly rough lol. Also probably a glitch
——————–Nora’s eldest daughter-Theodosia-felt threatened when she(Fiona) was born so at the first opportunity she kidnapped her and locked her away in a tower. That was when Fiona was really young, she was lead to believe-by Theo-that the castle was under attack and that they had to hide away. And now she believes that the kingdom was destroyed, Nora was killed, and that there’s a bloodthirsty king and his bandits out for their royal blood.
She loves fairytales and would beg for Theo to bring her some from her trips out of the tower. Now she has her own personal library.
One day-when she grew old enough and her tail got fckin long as all hell-she managed to climb down the tower. She explored a little-and then climbed back up before Theo arrived. And Theo knew right away what she had done since she was covered in grass-and y'know, giant snake trails had p much flattened the grass all around the tower so.
And that’s where that pointy tail cuff comes into play. It’s digging into her scales and as she’s /still growing/ her tail’s starting to grow around the spikes. If she really, really wanted to she could try and pull it off-if she wanted to potentially lose a good portion of her tail.
She’s in a lotta pain and uses all kinds of numbing herbs and what not to /try/ and help.
Now she knows that her sister’s… off. She just can’t say anything or you know, she’ll probably lose her only source of food. Or end up dead.
The song “I know it’s today” from the Shrek Musical really suits her tbh.
(Lil sad snippet because I just thought of this and if I gotta feel bad so do you guys)
Fiona was almost saved once-well, that’s what /she/ thinks anyhow. So Theo hires people to keep the tower in order and deliver food to Fiona, and to also make sure no one tries anything like ‘saving’ Fiona. There’s at most two guards there at any given time. Theo is away a /lot/. She’s trying to build her own kingdom and that takes time and connections.
There are multiple levels to the tower and Fiona has access to the top three. The two above the third “bottom” level is like-imagine a shelf? Kinda open so she doesn’t have to worry about doors in her space, not a Lotta corners-i’m off topic.
Anyways-so one of the new men that was hired-this is important, so prior to being hired he and his w i f e were trying to have a child. Only she’s unable. So he goes to the village-idk what they’re called. The people that the rest of the village go to for advice and spells??? But they’re-a witchdoctor maybe??? Whatever-so he goes, and she says, “There is one sure way for you to ever sire a child, you must lay with a serpent.” “… Do you mean slay-” “No you ninny! Lay! You must lay with a serpent! And when she gives her heart to you will you be blessed with the gift of life.”
Where’s he supposed to find a serpent to nail?? He doesn’t know, so he goes to a tavern to drown his sorrows. That’s where he’s recruited by Theo.
Now the village and the tower is like, maybe a two week trip by carriage.
He gets there, Theo leaves. He gets curious and investigates the upper floors. Then he sees Fiona: a serpent lady.
What a lucky break
So he lays on the charm. And mind you Fiona is a shy gal, and she’s never interacted with anyone other than her sister(and she reads so many romance novels and fairytales) so after say, a month she tells him that she loves him, they bone-and then he’s gone.
He went back to the village and immediately boned his wife. He waited-and after like, a lotta love making and several months he finds the witch doctor and says “You lied to me.” “Me?! A liar?!” “I laid with a serpent and my wife remains barren.” “And what of the serpent? Hm-maybe you /were/ supposed to slay the serpent. This old mind of mine…”
So he goes b a c k to the tower in the night, says Theo told him to take over, and sneaks into Fiona’s room. And he’s got his dagger out, ready to kill himself a serpent, when she moves in her bed and it’s revealed that she has an egg with her.
He doesn’t kill her, instead when she wakes up-and she’s pissed ofc-he tells her that Theo wanted him elsewhere. And she’s gullible, and you know-first love and all that, she’s ready to have herself a little family with this guy.
And then the baby hatches a month later. It looks completely human-only it has gold eyes. He takes it back to the village while she’s asleep.
Fiona is distraught. Theodosia comes back, Fiona tells her what happened. “So you’ve learned your lesson? I’ve told you dear sister, you can’t trust anyone outside these walls. But you can trust me.”
Now some Nora stuff since I bet you’re all curious about what momma’s doing during this
Like, okay she was kidnapped during a castle raid and she was lit a damn baby and the dragon that took her got shot out of the sky and so-now she’s on the ground next to this dead guy. And Kinder heard the noise and went to investigate like a curious bitch. Like “oh there’s a dragon bab” “what do” and just took her in and raised her as his own, but when she’s around 11 he catches wind of a kingdom filled with dragons matching her desc and he’s just “heeeeeeyyyy…” and he goes and checks it out, then he comes back and brings Nora with him because “these are your people and your culture”.
But the entire kingdom and their mothers know that the Queen had a missing emerald and diamond baby that would be around Nora’s age and next thing Kinder knows he’s being dragged off to see the Queen and he’s confused??? And the Queen explains and like-he didn’t exactly have a choice and h a d to give Nora over n she’s confused and scared like? Who’s this woman? Fuck her.
And she doesn’t see Kinder until she’s an adult and is allowed to leave-and h e e e e e re’s where it gets dramatic.
To preface: the dragons in the kingdom are all covered in gems. The more rare and precious they are the higher on the power scale they are. The gems can be removed for whatever reason. But certain gems are tied to certain things, such as abilities. There was a rumor that if a dragon wore the gems of a deceased dragon they will become crazed and start to crave m o r e gems. Like drug addicts n shizz.
And the Queen had just lost a son, and she fastened a few of his gems into a necklace to wear.
And she got b a t s h i t crazy
Obsessed with power.
Crazy paranoid.
And jealous of anyone and everyone.
So she started putting new laws in place. Crazy laws. And soon more than a third of the kingdom was locked away. Oh but they started running out of room. So she’d have their gems taken, and if you have no gems you’re practically a powerless, obedient husk. She’d store alllll the gems away. Nora knew this, but she didn’t want to be next as the Queen had already started turning on her other siblings
And Nora was starting to gain popularity with the people. She had a mate at the time and they were going to be wed. So everyone was talking about a grand wedding and Nora becoming the new queen.
Queen(her names Vivienne btw i just don’t wanna type it alot lol)didn’t like this and seduced Nora’s mate, then killed him. Nora was livid-of course-and claimed that come morning everyone would know.
So Queen snuck into Nora’s room as she slept and tore the gems from her back. And ye Nora woke tf up and punched the woman and had to McFuckin flee. But with her back all fcked just summoning her wings and shifting was painful. So by the time she was out of the kingdom she was exhausted.
Idk wtf happens during this, besides boring training n shizz, boom, she comes back and kills her mother, reclaims her gems, and becomes Queen. But this would be years after she fled. And her gems became tainted, so she began to get a lil batshit as well.
Only she k n e w. And she was able to fight it, but it got so tiring and she was always erratic with her emotions that she just tore the tainted gems from her and waited.
Then there was a human guy and she had Theodosia, and she loved Theo so much and spoiled her. But Theo was a b i t c h. An evil lil cunt. So when Nora had her next daughter, Fiona, Theo-now 16 by human standards and worried for her position for the throne-took her and locked her away in an old tower surrounded by a magic barrier to keep her in.
And Nora didn’t know, she thought Fiona was dead and gone. But when she found out-a whopping two hundred years later, when Fiona would be a young adult-she locked Theo away and demanded to be told where Fiona was.
Theo escaped. Nora never found out where Fiona was. She sent out countless parties to search for her.
So in she lost a father, several siblings, a mate, a mother, and two daughters.
Now onto the son Fiona had with that guard. He’s not all that ordinary. He talks to snakes and has an knack for getting himself in and out of trouble. He parents love him very much-and his mother is concerned about where her husband says he found him “I found him floating down the river” he says. She doesn’t buy it, but she loves the child like he was her own. And for all little Kandro(to be changed, maybe) knows he /is/ her son.
He likes fairytales just as much as her mother, he particularly likes the one about the maiden with the long gold hair locked away in a tower. Now, this village isn’t all human. No, there are minotaur and satyrs and all in between. He feels drawn to them-but his father doesn’t want him anywhere near “the likes of them”.
He does it anyways. He’s a lovable lad, everyone’s friend. Always knows just what to say.
And then Nora’s search party makes it to the village. They have posters made from a description a seer gave them(“she looks like this and she’s in a tower” “what tower” “a tower in a forest” “which forest” “I can’t tell you that, I’m a seer, not a tour guide.”)-and his father is quick to turn pale. But then he hears of the reward for her safe return. And suddenly he’s a greedy Lil shit, goes right up to them and says “I know where she is”
Kandro sneaks into the carriage because “I want to see the princess”. Ah, there’s that adventurer in him. Course he’s found about half way there, but they can’t just turn him back on his own so they let him stay. His father’s upset about it, but hey it’s not like he remembers Fiona anyhow-only in a way he /does/. Kandro knows Fiona’s scent, he just k n o w s. Like-she’s imprinted in his mind.
When they get to the tower there are guards-and they’re dispatched p fckin quickly. And Kandro was told to stay at the carriage but he’s thirteen, he don’t listen. So he runs up the stairs and bursts into Fiona’s room and blurts out. “I’m here to rescue the princess!”
And she’s startled-but then she sees his eyes and she knows. He knows. And she pulls him up in a hug and it’s sappy.
Nora’s men come in as well and everyone has to c o n v i n c e her that it’s safe to go outside and that Nora’s kingdom is safe and strong. They also tell her the truth about Theo. Fiona almost isn’t surprised, “I guess a part of me always knew…”
The guards have to remove the chain-they try the cuff but it’s stuck too bad and they don’t have the supplies for it. So she has to travel like that. And she does not let go of Kandro’s hand, they sleep together during the night and when they reach the village and his mother comes Fiona tells her just what her husband did.
So the lady’s livid, there’s a lot of yelling. The husband’s ashamed. But Fiona-after hearing his side-is like “I understand how you felt, you were desperate, but that doesn’t give you the right to use me or lie to your own wife.”
Woman ends up at a loss-but she asks “where are you taking my son?” “I’m taking him home… do you want to come?” “I… yes, please.” “You can tell me all about him and his adventures on the way.”
So they ditch the husband there-after putting him in the stocks to be publicly shamed n what not.
The wife-I’m calling her Matilda-ends up being a very close friend and her and Fiona raise Kandro together.
“What kind of name is ‘Kandro’?” “Oh-Erwin picked it out. Always hated it. Never really fit… what would you have named him?” “Oh, please don’t laugh. I would have named him Charming.” *cue giggling* “I think that’s a much better fit! He’s always had a way with people!”
Kandro becomes ‘Charming’ and proudly says “I have /two/ mothers! Hah!”

What is Survey Junkie?
Survey Junkie was founded in Glendale, California in 2011 and currently has over 10 million active members. They’re mission is “Share your voice. Influence change. Get paid.”
This naturally makes sense for a company dedicated to partnering companies with people just like to share your honest opinion about different products or services. Your feedback helps them decide on what products and services should be offered and how to improve the ones that are lacking.
If something’s not selling, it’s nice to know why. What better way to get that information than from customer surveys?
And most people will not give a company their time for free, so it makes sense to offer payment. Survey Junkie isn’t alone in paying people for their opinion.
But out of all the survey companies I have seen, Survey Junkie has the highest Trustpilot rating of 4.5/5 with over 14,000 reviews. As someone who has done many reviews for different survey companies, no one else has the high ratings and reviews like Survey Junkie.
How Do I Sign up for Survey Junkie?
You can simply sign up for Survey Junkie here.
Signing up for Survey Junkie is easy. Just click the “Join Now” button on the home page. Next, you will create an account using either a Facebook or Google+ to sign up. If you don’t have either, you can use any email address.
After that they’ll ask you a few demographics questions. Questions about:
Your household and its members
Current income
And your lifestyle
It might seem weird that they want to know this stuff, but it’s important for matching you up with surveys. Companies using Survey Junkie want to survey their target audience.
Survey Junkie uses the information you give them to match you with surveys based on your lifestyle. This process helps you influence brands you use the most.
After you answer the demographics questions you’ll get a list of available surveys. Survey Junkie will also email you available surveys going forward as well.
Bonus: You will earn points for completing your profile fully.
**You have to be at least 13 years old to join Survey Junkie. Also, you need to be a resident of the U.S., Canada or Australia.
  What Are the Surveys Like?
The surveys you’ll receive vary in content and length. Some will be super-short, like 5 minutes, while others will take up to 30 minutes.
When you receive the surveys in your email, they’ll tell you how long the surveys take and how many points you’ll earn by taking them.
This is nice because you can choose to do the surveys you have time for. And you can do them in your spare time.
You don’t have to set aside an hour or two if you don’t want to. It’s easy to earn points while you’re watching TV or waiting at an appointment.
Another great thing about Survey Junkie is that there are plenty of surveys to choose from. Some companies will only send surveys once or twice a week.
However, Survey Junkie typically sends out several per day. That equates to more chances to earn points (i.e. money).
The content of the surveys they send you will vary as well. One survey they might ask you if you’ve tried a particular product. The next day you could receive a survey about your habits in a certain area. One survey I was sent asked “How many times a week do you go out to eat?”
The questions are pretty easy and you’ll be able to answer most off the top of your head.
Other Ways to Earn Points with Survey Junkie
Besides taking surveys, there are other ways to earn points with the company. Here are some of them.
Join a Focus Group
Survey Junkie might ask you to join a focus group. These groups typically pay more than surveys do. They are informal settings where people share their opinion.
Refer Friends
You can earn points by referring friends to Survey Junkie too. Survey Junkie will give you a referral code friends can use when they sign up. If they use your code, you get points.
Test Products
Occasionally – very occasionally – Survey Junkie will send you an opportunity to test a product. Sometimes you’ll get paid to test the product.
Other times your payment is just being able to keep the product itself.
Other Actionable Items
Survey Junkie will email you about other actions you can take to earn points too. You’ll see a number of points with a green button on the email if you can earn from it.
How Do I Get Paid from Survey Junkie?
This is the real question we all want answered, right?
It’s simple – you’ll earn points for every survey you complete with Survey Junkie. As I mentioned, the emails will tell you how many points you get for the survey before you start.
Or how many points you’ll get from taking other actions. After you’ve earned 1,000 points you can cash out. 1,000 points is equal to $10 in cash or gift cards.
You will get payment in 1 of 3 ways:
By PayPal transfer (available in all countries)
Via a store e-gift card (available only for U.S. members)
A direct transfer to your bank account via Dwolla (U.S. members only)
They have a number of e-gift card choices available if you like that option. Walmart, Target and Amazon are some of the more popular options.
Note: If you choose the PayPal option you’ll have to cash out all of your points. Therefore, if you want some in a gift card and some in PayPal, choose the gift card option first. Then transfer the rest to PayPal. Keep in mind that you need 1,000 points minimum to make a transfer.
How Much Money Will I Make with Survey Junkie?
Let’s be honest; you’re not going to replace your full-time income with Survey Junkie. However, you can make a few extra bucks each week. When I say a few extra bucks, you’ll make up to $20 extra per month.
Note: I have read reviews of people making up to $200 per month taking surveys with Survey Junkie, but I would expect that at all. Yes, there may be a few, but it’s definitely not common.
The exact amount you earn depends on the types of surveys you take and on how many you take. Whether you take advantage of other opportunities like focus groups makes a difference too.
If you work regularly, you could make enough in a year to cover an extra expense like a vacation. Or your Christmas gifts. However, you won’t get rich with Survey Junkie.
What I Like About Survey Junkie
Out of all the different survey options out there, Survey Junkie is the simplest I have seen. Some of the other survey sites have way too many ways to try and figure out how to earn points and it can be overwhelming. With Survey Junkie, there is only one thing you can do — take surveys.
I also like how they offer a $10 minimum cashout threshold. Most other survey companies will make you get to a $25 threshold which means you spend a lot more time before you get paid.
Lastly, I like how Survey Junkie has the option of PayPal gift cards because you can easily turn PayPal credit into cash in your bank account.
What I Don’t Like About Survey Junkie
As far as survey companies go, there isn’t much to dislike about Survey Junkie. I actually had to do some digging to find a reason to put something here I didn’t like (honest review), and I did notice they have a B rating with the BBB. Last year at this time they did have an A+ rating, so that was one red flag I did see.
Also, per some of the users we have spoken with, you may not qualify for some of the surveys based on your demographics
Is Survey Junkie Legit?
The verdict — Survey Junkie is a legitimate way to earn up to $20/month from your phone.
Survey Junkie remains to have one of the highest ratings among survey companies. In fact, Survey Junkie does have an TrustPilot rating of 4.5/5 with over 10 million active users.
Although, it isn’t a great ideas to use them as a primary source of income, it is a great way to utilize spare time to bring in some extra cash. If you like to shop, it’s also a great way to earn free Amazon gift cards.
However, if you’re really looking to replace your income, I’d suggest checking into some other options.
There are plenty of other side hustle options out there where you can earn real income to eventually replace your full-time job..
Final Recommendation
At the end of the day, yes, you can make money with Survey Junkie. It’s a legit site that can help you earn cash in your spare time.
The tasks you’ll do to earn are typically easy and often quick. However, as I mentioned, you won’t make life-changing, pay-off-your-debt, reach-financial-independence money.
If you’re looking for life-changing money, consider the other options mentioned here. Like they did for Peach and his family, they truly could change your world.
You probably have goals, dreams and plans for the extra money you want to make. It’s time to start achieving those dreams. Pick up a side hustle and use the money to reach your financial goals.

Content Design
Content is anything you create/consume/interact with.
What do users/people actually need from my portfolio? In order for me to present myself/get a job.
WANT V NEED; If someone is in debt, they are going to want a quick, simple solution. But what they need is a series of simple, manageable steps to help get them out of debt. This is what they need but not what they want.
Content can be anything. A combination of many forms could be what users need.
About me page in portfolio; could it be a video? A gif?
BOOK RECOMMENDATION; Content Design By Sarah Richards. Sarah worked on the .GOV website which is amazing looking now but when she started it had 30,000+ pages. So she printed all the pages out, laid them all out and the team walked about deciding what pages were essential and what weren’t. She paid a lot of attention not only to the content itself but also the way people talk about the content. Eg; people tend to use the word doctor as opposed to GP. Intuitive content design in action.
It’s important to put hours into the development of the content of your website. Content needs to be easy to find/use/consume.
Gazillions of webpages on the internet. Unless you’re incredibly specialised ie a government website, there are going to be competitors. You need to develop smart content. Design entrepreneur vs designer? Innovator or disruptor? We don’t want more content, we need smarter content.
Push vs pull content
Trust
Ease of use
PUSH CONTENT; look at this new iPhone, buy it! Ie bus stops, it’s THERE PULL CONTENT; This cool new phone makes your life easier and puts the entire world in your pocket, and it’s only £500. Pull content is you pulling it towards yourself ie searching things or following links etc.
Turning push content into pull content is an important skill. Your content needs to standout. Any push content can be turned into pull content, all you need to know is what your audience wants to see.
Why are we creating portfolios? MONEY. Good work will get you more work! Kyle ranks this as the most important thing. Portfolios should illustrate your work, your skills and how to contact you!! A bit about who you are is very good also.
People will pay more to use a good product. If a website is easier to use people are more likely to use it, even if the service is more expensive than a more difficult to use website. You need to make sure your website works and they can find your content. Your website has to be really good because employers KNOW what they’re looking for and they know what you’re talking about.
BRIEF; Portfolio Site and Content Strategy Example; Garry’s website. 3 portfolio items minimum.
Each portfolio piece should have its own page and case study; pics and exploration of the brief and process etc. Link blog through case studies? Words and images; prototype, video! It’s up to you!! App prototypes in invasion etc
CONTENT AUDIT; If you’re working on any kind of redesign project you’ll have to do a content audit Compiling all the content into a big list. Full content inventory
What are they used for? The list of content will come in handy at various stages of the project. If you’re redoing the information architecture you’ll come back to it again and again. It will give you a better idea of the content that you already have. Pre-courser to content analysis.
What to include Nav title Page name URL Comments Content hierarch
Content type Basic description of content; brief reminder. Topics, tags or categories; meta data Attached files; how many and type Related; links, related links Availability desktop, mobile, app? Numbering system; index

Page is whole number Items within page are decimals
Site map Desc/comments
Tobias Van Schneider An incredible beard; the moustache work is a thing of beauty. First page is who is and what he does. Semplice, GOOGLE THIS Latest instagrams in the html not a link, a showcase. He doesn’t demonstrate much work because he’s working for other companies but his website is still slick.
Lefft (Paddy Donnelly) Illustrator, blogs are individual to the project he creates. Newsletter, styles his articles very well, about him page, links used. Colour changes of text to highlight. Paddy exhibits his work straightaway. Cloud whale is amazing.
Both he and Tobias have their own newsletters, Tobias also has a podcast. CONTENT EVERYWHERE. A newsletter could even be things you’ve found on the internet this week, or facts you learned or new words you heard etc.
Wenizhou Simple grid but exhibits her work immediately, and it’s lit. Little animations that are easy to do. When you click on each piece of work it talks about the project, this is what we need to. Her process is amazing.
Shantell Martin Unreal, I love her. Her website and the way she’s used photography is amazing. Detailed discussion of each piece within the page and how she arrived at the end product. Lots of photos. Website is fluid as heck. Worked with Kendrick.
John Hicks Big headers and pieces that take up the whole screen. Lots of content without over crowding. Then case studies which are very important. You can talk about what was easy and also what obstacles you encountered as well. Downloadables? Goodies.
Brian Holf Home page is one portfolio item but it changes the odd time, keeps the site fresh, not the same viewpoint every time. You can then go into the case study from the piece, takes you to an individual page. Contact deeds at the bottom along with an “All Work” button.
Case studies are so important! Four case studies looks far better than four finished pieces.
Xavier Cusso, Toy Fight, Cédric Pierra <- research in own time.
HAMBURGER MENUS ARE FOR MOBILE
SITEMAP YOUR OWN SITE
A sitemap is a planning tool, structure, navigation, page hierarchy, plan logical presentation to users, visualise user paths.
Marking algorithm has changed; 2nd year worth 30% and final year is 70%. Both new and existing algorithms are going to be used and we will receive whichever gives the best outcome. If you want to do a masters you need a 2:2 or a first. Grades count, don’t faff about!
Fathom talk, they’re offering placements. In next Thursday afternoon. Russell in the following Thursday. recruit.ulster.ac.uk lists all placement opps.
Apply for jobs even if you’re not sure!! Check linkedin about that Disney placement. Santander SME.
CONTENT DISCOVERY AND RESEARCH Discovery is an important process! Not just dribbble. Prototyping, attempting to build so you can see what works and what makes sense. Problem solving. Not all looking at computers, a lot of it is discussion. Understand the problem. Understanding comes from discussion. Discovery helps you discover your audience, what you think you want, what you need, when you should publish that and the channels in which to do that. Using discovery to bring people with you. Sometimes you have to sell things to people. Content discovery as a team is a great way for everyone to be involved at an early stage and dissolve confrontations etc. Everyone has a chance to share. Everyone can see the same data or idea. Helps build a collective understanding and appreciation.
Figure out who your audience really are, what they want from you and how to speak with them. You need to know all this before you write a single word.
What can you do for them? What is your skillset? What have you done and how did you do it? Understand beforehand. Your audience are human beings as well. Writing good content with real human language is what gets you ranked on search engines etc. You’re writing good content for humans.
Sometimes the audience you think you want isn’t the audience you’re actually creating content for. Finding your audiences vocabulary. What vocabulary are you using? What words are your audience using? Search data = the words people use. Google trends for example.
Web designer is OUT. App design is IN. Content strategist is solidly known. UX design is on the rise.
Using web analytics and metrics. Login to your gmail and it starts working, telling you how long people spend on your site etc etc More vocabulary, what your readers want to know most, their mental models. Unique visits. Bounce rate. How long people spend on your page; time spend there.
Digital language and spoken language. Absence of body language. You don’t put search terms into google the way you’d ask a friend. Language patterns, common usage.
Narrow it down; what do you do? Can you do it? How can I contact you?
Doing discovery and research means you’re better informed and better equipped to start tackling the content design problem.
Write the content for your portfolio in plain html - no styles. Focus on the content. Write it in markdown.
Include images, pages and links as well if you wanna. Case studies. Home page and one case study as a minimum.
Content Audit
Look at what heroes are doing
Research and Discovery; google trends
Site map - in illustrator
Start to write your content for your website in HTML
STATIC AND DYNAMIC CONTENT What is a static sitE? Fixed content written in html Each page written separately as it is o the web Every web page saved separately Any changes need to go into the separate files
Advantages Easy to develop Cheap to develop Cheap to host
Disadvantages IDK KYLE MOVED THE SLIDE
Dynamic side Construction is controlled by an application server processed by server side scripts
Webpages not coded and saved separately Point 2 Point 3
Main difference is that the layout can be changed quite quickly.
Advantages Much more functional Easy to update Easier to add new content Good for large websites
Disadvantages More difficult to develop Requires you to understand databases
What is a Cms Content Managed System Bro. What is it? Allows users to manage content Separate content from structure Versioning of post content Manage media Manage content grouping Easy to use Manage any time/type of content.
FLAT FILE SITES A hybrid of both? Jekyll is a ruby based parsing engine that generates sites based on what is put into it. It’s main components are yams, liquid and markdown. YAML Aint Markup language. Liquid is ruby based?
Jekyll gives you a lot of freedom as a designer because you can build whatever you want. But it is also angry emoji, huff puff emoji. sO INSTEAD.
Kirby, file based CMS east to setup, easy to use, flexible as an Olympic gymnast. You gotta build a website with Kirby. getkirby dot com. You can use it for free until it comes to hosting. We are gonna use it for either portfolio or elements!

When you sell Ecommerce or any type of physical products, success are the combination between products and how you market it. And to market it,we need a high traffic first.
Video Ads + Probably Facebook Campaign is the best way to convert audiences to a sale. Facebook Video Ads and Social Video Ads is different from normal video,it’s mostly for CTA. Besides, you also need to setup ecommerce funnel the correct way.
Today,i will introduce you a useful software for ecommerce seller and any other internet marketer,Clipman 2.0. After having a test with Clipman 2.0,i would say it’s a great product worth trying for any seller. Besides, for the 2.0 updates,it’s now more actionable for other marketing.
What is Clipman 2.0?
At first,it’s a video ads creator that help you create and render video ads using Product Page URL. Product Page URL here can be Amazon,Shopify,Aliexpress,Ebay and any other ecommerce plattform. Then, you only need to customize video ads using their templates for better Call to Action. Once you finish rendering a video, you can auto post your video to Youtube,Facebook or creating a Facebook Video Ads campaigns. Another thing you can do is to spy top performing Ecommerce Funnel from top marketers. For those who are new to Facebook Ads or Video Ads,they also have multiple video training about this traffic source.
Who is Clipman 2.0 For?
Any Marketer at any Experience
Especially for Ecommerce Seller or Those Who Sell Physical Products
Facebook Marketer and Facebook Video Advertiser
Those who want or consider buiding an ecommerce funnel
And many more,..
Main Features and Demo of Clipman 2.0
Now,i will show you exactly how Clipman 2.0 works. This is the member’s area once you login.
The main difference between version 1 and version 2 is that version 2 allows 4 images and more text usage.
1.Video Ads Training Course
I have watched a lot video here, they are length video and they work.
As you know,Facebook Video Ads + Ecommerce Funnel are hot right now and more and more marketers are using this technique. This works better than driving images ads to product page,it’s somewhat distracted.
2.Create Video Ads Using Templates
On the front end account, you have access hundreds of templates. The Upsell 1 is Template Club, which allows you to access more templates.
These are templates for social media video and it should only use for short video ads. I think the best practice for Clipman 2.0 is to create a Facebook Video Carousel Ads campaigns.
I will not show you all templates i have in this review post because there’s a lot thing to say. Please watch my video below to see all of them.
Here’s the process when we create and hit render video ads. You will never need to create your own animation, just use for the software. For each time,Clipman 2.0 will render 3 video at the same time.
For the best usage, you will hit render each time for each scene. After that, you will need to insert music, because it’s a video ads for social media,of course,no voice.
And you just need to edit text.
So,the last thing to do is to wait, process is really fast, you can quickly generate videos in minutes.
3.Create Video Ads Using URL
About URL,it can be product page or can be your ecommerce funnel, landing page. This feature is actually to save you time and avoid spending too much time hiring outsourcers or complex about animation.
For example,i will use these URL.
And just pick templates for creation.
So,right now,you have collected all details from a URL.
At first, you can see,Clipman 2.0 allows more text than version 1.0.
When we have a look, this one focuses more on Call to Action and presenting features.
The process when we render video is actually the same.
For a logo,i recommend you to do your own and then upload a square logo.
At here, you will manage all videos rendering and all video you have already had.

When you sell Ecommerce or any type of physical products, success are the combination between products and how you market it. And to market it,we need a high traffic first.

You can share video to Youtube or Download to MP4 file. Because it’s a short video ads,the file is lightweight.
4.Create FB Ads and FB Post

In summary,Clipman 2.0 is a great product especially if you sell physical or ecommerce products online. If you are in a different angle, you can still use it as Clipman 2.0 has changed a lot. What i love is the high quality video templates built-in for Call to Action and Conversion and FB Video Ads right inside the software. Of course, this software is a big yes from me,there’s no hype from me,it’s really good trying.
