The team traded Samuelson along with a first-round pick to land Stevens, a center who was injured for almost all of last season (and who the team could’ve drafted in 2018.) That was a questionable move with a steep asking price. Making a salary cap decision to ship a talented stretch big in Ndour for a first-round pick was confusing, too. The Sky didn’t get much better this offseason.

The Wings have one job now: build around Arike Ogunbowale, who was one of the league’s best scorers as just a rookie. To an extent, Dallas has done that by trading for Samuelson, a premier floor-spacing wing and Ndour, a three-point shooting 6’5 big.
Disappointingly, though, Dallas gave up on Stevens, a second-year big from UConn who, if healthy, could become one of the best players in her draft class, for Samuelson. The trade netted the team an additional 2021 first-round pick, which is a win, but may not make up for how valuable Stevens may be. The team also landed three picks for Diggins-Smith, and no players at all. Picks sound nice on paper, but how many rookies can the team expect to keep? The Wings have four of the first nine picks in the 2020 draft.

With the Mystics, Storm and Sun stretching the floor on offense and swarming with switchable defensive bigs on defense, I’m not sure how Vegas catches up.

Most questionable decision: Not matching Phoenix’s offer for Diggins-Smith
The asking price for Diggins-Smith (three first-round picks) was reportedly too much for Minnesota, and the franchise may be a long-term winner for holding onto its assets and cap room. As teams keep filling their roster with bloated contracts for next season and beyond, the Lynx may be able to snatch stars whose teams are unable to pay them for a cheap price.
Still, Lynx fans should be a bit disappointed they couldn’t lure Diggins-Smith, especially with Sylvia Fowles at the back end of her career. At least they’ll have Rookie of the Year Napheesa Collier to watch grow.

Signing the former all-star to a one-year deal to mentor Ionescu would’ve made sense, but she’s owed $240,000 over two years to stay in New York. Will the 28-year-old who averaged seven points and three assists for her career be worth that deal?

Losing Toliver will still sting, though.

“Try not to let a fear of not going far enough keep you from even starting” 
Everyone fears something. You may fear spiders. Your brother may fear heights. The old lady down the road may fear being robbed. Fear in a lot of ways is natural and fear can be why humans have survived as a species for as long as we have. The human who fears poisonous snakes and avoids them is more likely to survive than the human who doesn’t fear, who may “poke the bear” and get bitten. Of course it is when fears turn into life crippling phobias that affect your daily level of functioning where it becomes a problem that needs the attention of a professional. However in this post I’m not referring to phobias as I don’t have any knowledge of them. I’m referring to the fears that every human has. 
My fears are not the average terrified of red back spiders sort of fear. 
I fear never being “good enough” no matter how hard I try. 
I fear not having any control causing everything around me to crumble into a shadow less pit. 
I have in the past allowed these fears to control my thoughts and my actions. I have given them the permission to make decisions which I later regretted and wished I followed my passions, my dreams instead of being constricted by fear. When I was in high school I believed that I was not good enough, I was not intelligent enough and because of that I believed I could not follow my dream of pursuing allied health but rather I should settle for a course that wasn’t as competitive to get into. I believed I couldn’t get the score I needed for my dream course and I didn’t. When I applied for university I decided to settle for environmental science courses because I had the score for it and at the time I felt like I had to be applying for something as all my friends and classmates around me were. 
I got accepted into a local university for a bachelor of science (environmental science) and as I completed the application I took a step back. I envisioned what I wanted my life to be like in 5, 10 years time. As I did, I could not see myself working in environmental science and enjoying it. I had no passion for it.  I did not want to spend my time and money into something which I knew was not what I wanted to do. I resigned from the course and applied for a certificate IV in allied health assistance (community rehabilitation) at TAFE (tertiary and further education). That was the best decision I made. It was a 6 month course and I loved it. As a requirement of the course I completed a 2 week work placement at a hospital as a physiotherapist assistant in the rehabilitation ward. The work placement instigated my realisation that this is what I wanted to do with my life. I loved my time there so much I woke up every morning excited to what the day would bring. Even though it took me 2 hours to get there by public transport and another 2 hours back the travel didn’t bother me because it was worth it. 
Since I completed the course June this year I’ve been working at a casual hospitality job saving up and I spent some time figuring what my next step should be. I was deciding between applying for university to study a course in allied health or to find a full time job in the city as an allied health assistant. 
I decided university. 
A university sitting in the middle of whoop whoop, a 5-6 hours away caught my attention. I applied for a diploma of general studies which was a 1 year pathway course which if you passed, guaranteed you entry into a variety of the university’s bachelor degrees. I sent that application hopeful encompassed with this feeling that this was the right decision. Only 2 days later I received a text after I finished my shift that I was accepted for an interview. 
I did not know how I was going to get there as I don’t have my license yet, I did not know where to stay and I just did not know the town as I have never been there before. My dad kindly offered to drive me there the day before the interview and to drive back the next day after I was done. I am so grateful to have someone in my life who was able to help me out like that. We drove the 5 hours down and I fell in love with the town. I walked down the main street of this country town and I knew that I wanted to live here. 
The interview was the next morning and it went incredibly well. Everyone I met was very friendly and I passed the interview. That was only yesterday and now I’m back in Sydney planning on my big move next year. 
I could have let that same old fear stop me from agreeing to go to that interview or stop me from still planning to travel there when my original plan fell a part. I didn’t let it and I’m so very glad that I didn’t. I still have a lot to plan and a lot to go before I even start the course let alone finishing it. I know fear will creep up again before I move down and it will continue to creep as I complete the course but I am so determined to follow this dream of mine that I’m not going to allow fear to make the decisions for me.

"I'm not the decorator": 20 quotes on what it's like to be a lady architect
Looking back on this past year, there have been so much amazing progress in terms of gender, sexuality, and overall human rights. This past year is apart of our forward momentum but many industries, such as our very own architecture and design industry, still have an uphill battle due.
Architecture was traditionally a wealthy man’s hobby. Inspired by the Greek and Roman architects, Thomas Jefferson had a studio in his own home, Monticello, that he used to develop a unique form of American architecture. In 1767 he purchased a small mountain (Monticello means ëlittle mountain' in Italian) near his birthplace, Shadwell. He began construction that year, a process that would continue throughout most of his life. He rebuild Monticello several times.
Since then architecture has remained male-dominated - and for good reason, it’s inextricably tied to the construction industry. Truth be told, contractors aren’t going to be trading in their 210lb laborers for 130lb women anytime soon. Not in a capitalist country at least.
But until then we have our allies like,  Robin Pogrebin, who rote a fantastic NY Times story outlining countless women’s stories. We couldn’t help but not share…
”For a woman to go out alone in architecture is still very, very hard,” the architect Zaha Hadid said. “It’s still a man’s world.” Ms. Hadid often stated that she did not want to serve as a symbol of progress for women in her profession. But, inevitably, she did. A study on diversity in the profession released this year by the American Institute of Architects found that “women strongly believe that there is not gender equity in the industry”; that women and minorities say they are less likely to be promoted to more senior positions; and that gender and race are obstacles to equal pay for comparable positions. Since Ms. Hadid won the Pritzker Prize in 2004, the percentage of female architects in the United States has barely grown, increasing to 25.7 percent from 24 percent, according the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
After Ms. Hadid died on March 31 at 65, The New York Times, in an informal online questionnaire, asked female architects among its readers to talk candidly about their experiences in the profession: the progress they’ve made and the obstacles they still face on construction sites and in client meetings. Below are edited excerpts from a few of some 200 responses we received.
‘Pushing Through Assumptions’
“We absolutely face obstacles. Every single day. It’s still largely a white, male-dominated field, and seeing a woman at the job site or in a big meeting with developers is not that common. Every single day I have to remind someone that I am, in fact, an architect. And sometimes not just an architect, but the architect. I’m not white, wearing black, funky glasses, tall or male. I’m none of the preconceptions of what an architect might be, and that means that every time I introduce myself as an architect, I have to push through the initial assumptions. Every new job site means a contractor who will assume I am the assistant, decorator or intern. It usually isn’t until the third meeting that the project team looks to me for the answers to the architectural problems.”

• Never call anyone over age 18 a girl, especially not in a client meeting. This is not cute; it is patronizing.
• Make sure you introduce yourself to women on the project. (I have experienced this countless times in a meeting, where someone introduces themselves to the rest of the team but somehow skips me.)
• Do not comment on their bodies/clothing more than you might a man’s. (Don’t make jokes about them dieting ….)
• Don’t apologize for swearing in front of them. This is 2016; I am pretty sure women can handle it.
• Don’t interrupt them or talk over them.
• Don’t devalue their social ability. Getting everyone together for an office event can show leadership and planning. Being able to communicate is a key skill in a field with so many consultants.
• Do promote women into positions of power and influence. My previous firm rarely promoted women. I eventually quit. Next thing you know, they promoted all the women in the office. I like to think something got through.”

Why New Zealand Is Furious About Australia’s Deportations Policy
On the night of Sept. 11, 2015, security cameras in a prison in Goulburn, a city southwest of Sydney, recorded a final, desperate act.
A dark pool of blood and water spilled out from underneath a locked cell door. Alone inside, Junior Togatuki, 23, was bleeding heavily from a cut to his left wrist. He had sounded the alarm twice, but no one had come to his aid.
Mr. Togatuki, a New Zealand citizen of Samoan descent who had moved to Australia when he was 4 and who had a history of mental illness, was found dead the following morning.
He had been due to be deported.
The cancellation of Australian visas on the grounds of “character” has soared since December 2014, when the government amended its immigration law. Last year, more than half of those visas belonged to New Zealanders, almost 1,300 of whom have been deported since January 2015. They are now the largest group in Australia’s immigration detention centers, whereas before the legal changes New Zealanders were not even in the top 10.
Under the stricter character test, foreigners may be deported from Australia if they have served 12 months or more in prison or if immigration officials believe they pose a threat to the country. Many of them have lived in Australia for most or all of their lives, leaving families behind.
In some cases, convicted criminals have finished their sentences only to find themselves back in detention because their visas were canceled.

Junior Togatuki’s mood and behavior became more desperate after his Australian visa was canceled, his sister said.
The shift in policy and its disproportionate impact on New Zealanders — along with additional disputes over Australia’s immigration policies — have become a major test for one of the world’s closest bilateral relationships.
Questions of race and fairness are intensifying: Of those sent back to New Zealand from January 2015 to this past April, at least 60 percent were Maori or Pacific Islander, according to figures obtained through an information request.
Those returned also include a former soldier with no criminal record and a quadriplegic man who lived in Australia for 36 years, while in March a 17-year-old boy was placed in an adult detention center 12 hours away from his family — the youngest New Zealander yet to be detained.
Australian officials defend the approach. In an emailed statement, a government spokesman said the deportation measures had been introduced to “protect Australia and its citizens.”
But New Zealand officials say Australia is undermining the two countries’ historical bonds of “mateship,” with free movement across their borders dating to the 1920s.
They argue that the new measures are sweeping, allowing the deportation of people who served sentences decades ago or who served multiple short sentences for minor crimes that add up to 12 months or more.
Jacinda Ardern, New Zealand’s prime minister, has been quietly demanding more discretion.
She said in an email that she had “continued to make it clear that my government would welcome an end to some of those cases where, from our perspective, it makes no sense for someone to be deported here, such as when they have little or no links to New Zealand, or have never even been here.”
Many New Zealanders see a pattern of Australia pushing away its closest ally.
In 2001, Australia passed measures making it harder for New Zealanders to become citizens. Now they must first get permanent residency, a costly process with narrow requirements that are difficult to meet.
A new pathway to citizenship, offered to certain New Zealanders starting last year, has a similarly strict set of criteria, including an income threshold.
Australians living in New Zealand — 22,470, according to 2013 census figures — fare better. They are granted permanent residency on arrival and can apply for citizenship after five years. They can also become eligible for unemployment support and student loans.
In Australia, many New Zealanders now lack that kind of safety net. Policy changes in 2001 and subsequent years restricted their eligibility for a number of social security benefits, including unemployment and disability support.
Although they still have access to Australia’s universal health care system, they have mostly been unable to get student loans, and without a clear path to citizenship, many remain in limbo, living permanently on temporary visas that allow them to work but offer limited protections if they lose their jobs.
Many of the New Zealanders in Australia move there to pursue low-skilled, high-paying work, said Paul Hamer, a research associate at Victoria University of Wellington who has spoken with thousands of New Zealanders in Australia.
Junior Togatuki’s older sister, Jean Veu, said their parents moved to Australia because they wanted more opportunities for them.
But citizenship, a steppingstone to stability, is increasingly out of reach. Only 8.4 percent of the 146,000 New Zealand-born migrants who arrived in Australia from 2002 to 2011 had acquired Australian citizenship by 2016. The rate for New Zealand-born Maori was even lower, just under 3 percent.
In the same time period, incarceration rates for New Zealanders climbed. From 2009 to 2016, there was a 42 percent increase in New Zealand-born prisoners in Australia, according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics.
Some experts believe this is part of a broader pattern.
The 2001 changes, Mr. Hamer argued, were in part “aimed at filtering out Pacific Island migrants” who had easy access to New Zealand citizenship and were seen to be exploiting a “back door” to Australia.
Australian officials are so concerned about that “back door” that last year they rejected New Zealand’s offer to accept refugees from Australia’s controversial offshore detention camps on Manus Island and Nauru — even though it would have helped end a lengthy struggle over where to send them.
Lafaele Stowers, a New Zealand citizen originally from Samoa, with one of his three children. Mr. Stowers has been in a Sydney detention center for more than a year while appealing the cancellation of his visa.
Meanwhile, in New Zealand, a small country already struggling with surging homelessness, the deportations are becoming a serious burden.
“It crept up on us quite suddenly,” said Tui Ah Loo, chief executive of PARS, a charitable organization that supports both deportees with criminal histories and domestic prisoners.
From July 2017 to this May, PARS assisted 221 deportees, up from 144 in the previous financial year. Many have no family or support networks and need help with basic tasks like setting up bank accounts, getting driver’s licenses and finding places to live. Committing new offenses is also a concern.
Ms. Ah Loo said many of them “think Australian, act Australian and talk Australian.”
Jason Wereta, 46, said returning to New Zealand after 25 years in Australia has been difficult. Mr. Wereta, a father of four, was deported last year after serving a string of prison sentences for driving without a license, common assault and stalking or intimidation.
He recently moved to New Zealand’s South Island to take a job shearing sheep. But like many deportees, his children are in Australia, where he hopes to return.
This separation of families needs closer examination, according to New Zealand officials.
While Ms. Ardern acknowledged that Australia had a “sovereign right to set its own immigration policies,” she said the ties that people have to Australia should be given greater weight in immigration decisions.
The question at issue is a common one: Who is ultimately responsible for long-term residents of a country?
In January, for example, it was reported that Alex Viane, a convicted criminal, would be deported to New Zealand despite never having been there. Mr. Viane, 41, was born in American Samoa and moved to Australia when he was 14, obtaining New Zealand citizenship through an uncle. His partner, two daughters and two grandsons all live in Australia.
Lafaele Stowers, a New Zealand citizen originally from the country of Samoa, is in a similar position. He has lived in Australia for 12 years and has two young children with his partner, Renay, and a 9-year-old son from a previous relationship. She and all three children are Australian citizens.
In December 2016, Mr. Stowers, 32, was preparing to go home after serving six months of a 14-month sentence for assault when he was told his Australian visa had been canceled.
“You just freeze. You don’t know what to do,” he said by cellphone from his room at the Sydney detention center where he has been for more than a year.
When foreigners’ visas are canceled, they can leave Australia voluntarily or lodge an application for appeal within 28 days. If they appeal, they must, as Mr. Stowers has, wait in detention centers for their cases to be heard.
Malcolm Turnbull, the Australian prime minister, described the process as “fair and just” during a meeting with Ms. Ardern in March. Yet almost 20 percent of those in detention have been there for more than 730 days, government figures show.
Relatives of Mr. Togatuki, the detainee who died while waiting to be deported, say he should not have been in a maximum-security facility where he had endured lengthy periods in solitary confinement.
His sentence had expired more than a month before his death, but he continued to be held at the direction of the Immigration Department.
His family acknowledges that he was troubled — he was sent to juvenile detention at 16 and was later convicted of armed robbery and assault. But his mental health deteriorated in prison, with doctors saying he had schizophrenia. Relatives said they learned the extent of Mr. Togatuki’s issues only after he died.
“If we had known, we could have helped him,” said Ms. Veu, who saw her brother’s mood and behavior grow more desperate after his visa was canceled.
In a letter to Immigration Minister Peter Dutton, Mr. Togatuki wrote: “If I was to be deported back to New Zealand, I will be truly lost with myself. I have no one there, no job, no home or a roof over my head.”
Mr. Togatuki liked to draw, so his family designed a custom tombstone for his grave that incorporates his artwork. Almost three years after his death, they are close to paying off the $12,000 cost.
In the meantime, they bring a tall white cross when they visit the suburban Sydney cemetery where Mr. Togatuki is buried, in the country he didn’t want to leave.

Last year, more than half of those visas belonged to New Zealanders, almost 1,300 of whom have been deported since January 2015. They are now the largest group in Australia’s immigration detention centers, whereas before the legal changes New Zealanders were not even in the top 10.
Under the stricter character test, foreigners may be deported from Australia if they have served 12 months or more in prison or if immigration officials believe they pose a threat to the country. Many of them have lived in Australia for most or all of their lives, leaving families behind.
In some cases, convicted criminals have finished their sentences only to find themselves back in detention because their visas were canceled.

The shift in policy and its disproportionate impact on New Zealanders — along with additional disputes over Australia’s immigration policies — have become a major test for one of the world’s closest bilateral relationships.
Questions of race and fairness are intensifying: Of those sent back to New Zealand from January 2015 to this past April, at least 60 percent were Maori or Pacific Islander, according to figures obtained through an information request.
Those returned also include a former soldier with no criminal record and a quadriplegic man who lived in Australia for 36 years, while in March a 17-year-old boy was placed in an adult detention center 12 hours away from his family — the youngest New Zealander yet to be detained.
Australian officials defend the approach. In an emailed statement, a government spokesman said the deportation measures had been introduced to “protect Australia and its citizens.”
But New Zealand officials say Australia is undermining the two countries’ historical bonds of “mateship,” with free movement across their borders dating to the 1920s.
They argue that the new measures are sweeping, allowing the deportation of people who served sentences decades ago or who served multiple short sentences for minor crimes that add up to 12 months or more.
Jacinda Ardern, New Zealand’s prime minister, has been quietly demanding more discretion.
She said in an email that she had “continued to make it clear that my government would welcome an end to some of those cases where, from our perspective, it makes no sense for someone to be deported here, such as when they have little or no links to New Zealand, or have never even been here.”
Many New Zealanders see a pattern of Australia pushing away its closest ally.
In 2001, Australia passed measures making it harder for New Zealanders to become citizens. Now they must first get permanent residency, a costly process with narrow requirements that are difficult to meet.
A new pathway to citizenship, offered to certain New Zealanders starting last year, has a similarly strict set of criteria, including an income threshold.
Australians living in New Zealand — 22,470, according to 2013 census figures — fare better. They are granted permanent residency on arrival and can apply for citizenship after five years. They can also become eligible for unemployment support and student loans.
In Australia, many New Zealanders now lack that kind of safety net. Policy changes in 2001 and subsequent years restricted their eligibility for a number of social security benefits, including unemployment and disability support.
Although they still have access to Australia’s universal health care system, they have mostly been unable to get student loans, and without a clear path to citizenship, many remain in limbo, living permanently on temporary visas that allow them to work but offer limited protections if they lose their jobs.
Many of the New Zealanders in Australia move there to pursue low-skilled, high-paying work, said Paul Hamer, a research associate at Victoria University of Wellington who has spoken with thousands of New Zealanders in Australia.
Junior Togatuki’s older sister, Jean Veu, said their parents moved to Australia because they wanted more opportunities for them.
But citizenship, a steppingstone to stability, is increasingly out of reach. Only 8.4 percent of the 146,000 New Zealand-born migrants who arrived in Australia from 2002 to 2011 had acquired Australian citizenship by 2016. The rate for New Zealand-born Maori was even lower, just under 3 percent.
In the same time period, incarceration rates for New Zealanders climbed. From 2009 to 2016, there was a 42 percent increase in New Zealand-born prisoners in Australia, according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics.
Some experts believe this is part of a broader pattern.
The 2001 changes, Mr. Hamer argued, were in part “aimed at filtering out Pacific Island migrants” who had easy access to New Zealand citizenship and were seen to be exploiting a “back door” to Australia.
Australian officials are so concerned about that “back door” that last year they rejected New Zealand’s offer to accept refugees from Australia’s controversial offshore detention camps on Manus Island and Nauru — even though it would have helped end a lengthy struggle over where to send them.
Lafaele Stowers, a New Zealand citizen originally from Samoa, with one of his three children. Mr. Stowers has been in a Sydney detention center for more than a year while appealing the cancellation of his visa.
Meanwhile, in New Zealand, a small country already struggling with surging homelessness, the deportations are becoming a serious burden.
“It crept up on us quite suddenly,” said Tui Ah Loo, chief executive of PARS, a charitable organization that supports both deportees with criminal histories and domestic prisoners.
From July 2017 to this May, PARS assisted 221 deportees, up from 144 in the previous financial year. Many have no family or support networks and need help with basic tasks like setting up bank accounts, getting driver’s licenses and finding places to live. Committing new offenses is also a concern.
Ms. Ah Loo said many of them “think Australian, act Australian and talk Australian.”
Jason Wereta, 46, said returning to New Zealand after 25 years in Australia has been difficult. Mr. Wereta, a father of four, was deported last year after serving a string of prison sentences for driving without a license, common assault and stalking or intimidation.
He recently moved to New Zealand’s South Island to take a job shearing sheep. But like many deportees, his children are in Australia, where he hopes to return.
This separation of families needs closer examination, according to New Zealand officials.
While Ms. Ardern acknowledged that Australia had a “sovereign right to set its own immigration policies,” she said the ties that people have to Australia should be given greater weight in immigration decisions.
The question at issue is a common one: Who is ultimately responsible for long-term residents of a country?
In January, for example, it was reported that Alex Viane, a convicted criminal, would be deported to New Zealand despite never having been there. Mr. Viane, 41, was born in American Samoa and moved to Australia when he was 14, obtaining New Zealand citizenship through an uncle. His partner, two daughters and two grandsons all live in Australia.
Lafaele Stowers, a New Zealand citizen originally from the country of Samoa, is in a similar position. He has lived in Australia for 12 years and has two young children with his partner, Renay, and a 9-year-old son from a previous relationship. She and all three children are Australian citizens.
In December 2016, Mr. Stowers, 32, was preparing to go home after serving six months of a 14-month sentence for assault when he was told his Australian visa had been canceled.
“You just freeze. You don’t know what to do,” he said by cellphone from his room at the Sydney detention center where he has been for more than a year.
When foreigners’ visas are canceled, they can leave Australia voluntarily or lodge an application for appeal within 28 days. If they appeal, they must, as Mr. Stowers has, wait in detention centers for their cases to be heard.
Malcolm Turnbull, the Australian prime minister, described the process as “fair and just” during a meeting with Ms. Ardern in March. Yet almost 20 percent of those in detention have been there for more than 730 days, government figures show.
Relatives of Mr. Togatuki, the detainee who died while waiting to be deported, say he should not have been in a maximum-security facility where he had endured lengthy periods in solitary confinement.
His sentence had expired more than a month before his death, but he continued to be held at the direction of the Immigration Department.
His family acknowledges that he was troubled — he was sent to juvenile detention at 16 and was later convicted of armed robbery and assault. But his mental health deteriorated in prison, with doctors saying he had schizophrenia. Relatives said they learned the extent of Mr. Togatuki’s issues only after he died.
“If we had known, we could have helped him,” said Ms. Veu, who saw her brother’s mood and behavior grow more desperate after his visa was canceled.
In a letter to Immigration Minister Peter Dutton, Mr. Togatuki wrote: “If I was to be deported back to New Zealand, I will be truly lost with myself. I have no one there, no job, no home or a roof over my head.”
Mr. Togatuki liked to draw, so his family designed a custom tombstone for his grave that incorporates his artwork. Almost three years after his death, they are close to paying off the $12,000 cost.
In the meantime, they bring a tall white cross when they visit the suburban Sydney cemetery where Mr. Togatuki is buried, in the country he didn’t want to leave.

About the opportunity  The Biostatistician roles at HEO6 and HEO7 will report to the Senior Clinical Biostatistician.
Biostatistician HEO6: you will have the opportunity to collaborate with and provide statistical support to clinical and allied health researchers, basic scientists and CTC collaborators. There will also be opportunities to apply and develop statistical methods to problems arising from clinical and biological research.  You will be working with other biostatisticians to perform statistical analysis of clinical trials and associated data (meta-analyses, data linkage and genome wide association studies) using various statistical packages.
  Biostatistician HEO7: you will provide statistical/methodological leadership in conjunction with high quality statistical advice, and support to researchers, collaborators and research students. In addition to the activities performed at the HEO 6, there will be opportunities to apply statistical methodology to clinical research problems and conduct statistical analyses of clinical trials data. You will contribute to CTC teaching activities (external short courses) assist in the formal post-graduate curriculum as well as the CTC’s outreach activities.

experience in using statistical software, possess high level computing skills, including standard desktop applications

relevant degree (statistics/mathematics or similar) and experience in statistical data analysis.

preferably post-graduate qualifications in biostatistics or related discipline with at least 4 years relevant experience as a biostatistician working on clinical trials or other biomedical research projects
proven experience in statistical analysis programming in at least one software package (e.g. SAS), and demonstrated capacity to develop skills in other statistical software packages (e.g. SPSS, STATA, R)
proven excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with sound negotiating and conflict resolution skills and demonstrated level of tact and discretion in dealing with day to day operational matters
