PSA for anyone who owns a dog, cat, or hairy pet:

If you bring your pet to an Airbnb/hotel/any overnight stay-location that is SUPPOSED to be pet-free.

Fuck you. Fuck you BIG TIME.

I understand the love people have for their pets and it’s incredibly valid and I UNDERSTAND it can be hard to travel with your furry friends. Especially if you own an emotional support/service animal.

But this is your reminder that pet-friendly locations exist for a reason. People like myself who have severe pet dander allergies are at risk for getting incredibly sick after renting a supposedly “pet free location”.

I am currently staying in an Airbnb that was marketed as pet-free but it is very obvious that whoever was here before us snuck their animal in. I am wheezy, sick, covered in itchy skin, and I’ve had to use an obscene amount of allergy meds just for it to be somewhat bearable.

Just as much as food allergies, other kinds of allergies deserve to be respected.

I have allergies I can get anaphylaxis and DIE, I have to be EXTREMELY CAREFUL because I don’t carry a epi-pen with me.

and if I can’t make sure something doesn’t have an allergen I DONT EAT.

that’s the reality for every single person with allergies, and I can’t actually trust anyone who wouldn’t care for me the same way.

I’d always make sure my friends and acquaintances are safe, but like some of this rhetoric and stuff people say literally FREAKS ME THE FUCK OUT.

because people just don’t understand the severity of allergic reactions and anaphylaxis.

and it leads to SO MANY PEOPLE DYING, it’s HEARTBREAKING

I have horror stories upon horror stories of this shit, and it freaks me out.

it’s ableism and its so acceptable, it’s so fucking scary that people don’t care enough to read labels or tell you correctly what’s in food.

They sneezed as they opened the door, and again as they hung their coat up, and then twice more as they entered the living room where I sat.

"Bless you," I said sweetly as they came to sit beside me.

"Ah-pff’TCHOO!"

"Bless you again," I put my arm around their shoulders and kissed their temple. "You getting a cold?"

"There were three cats at dinner I…ah-pff’TISCHOOCHOO! Ugh. I’ve been sneezing all night…"

"Mmm…" I breathed as I stroked their hair.

They gave me a teasing smile as their nostrils quickly flared.

"Oh don’t do that…" I murmured as I nuzzled my face into their neck.

"CHOO! Do what?" they asked with the cutest giggle you’ll ever hear.

"Tease me by trying to hold back…" my voice was muffled against their ear. "…You’re so hot baby…"

"I’m ah-Pff’CHOO! CHOO! Ugh. Look at me. I’m a mess…"

"No, you’re gorgeous…your laugh, your smile, your adorably pink nose…" I paused as they sneezed a quick double, "…and your sneezes, those drive me crazy…you know that…"

"You should have been there tonight…ahh-PFF‘CHOO!"

"Ohh…" I practically moaned.

"That’s what it was all…CHOOCHOO!…the entire time…who needs three cats…Uhh…CHOO!"

"Bless you honey…"

"Mmphx…I’m glad you’re enjoying this…"

I smiled and ran my fingers through my hair. "I really am…if you’re not suffering…"

They paused, their eyes shut tight with a mouth that was hanging open. They were breathing heavier than before.

As I watched they sucked their breath in, and a tear ran from the corner of their eye.

"AHH-PFF’CHOO! Het’CHIEW! CHIEW! Ohh……! CHHG’CHOO! CHOO! I’m tired of this now…"

I ran my hand over their hair.

"Why don’t you take a shower and go to bed babe," I said softly. They nodded, and then kissed me before letting three hard sneezes out into my collarbone. "Oof…"

They stood, sneezing once more.

"Are you going to join me?"

"I thought you’d never ask," I grinned. "Oh and baby?"

"Ah-pff’CHOO! Yeah my love?"

"Bless you."
