You and Bucky have been dating for five months and things are going well between the two of you. Of course, you had told your mom the minute he had asked you out, keeping her informed of how things were going since you were so close. You had told her everything about him, the good and the bad and she was curious to meet him.
“When do we get to meet him y/n?” she would ask every time you called her.
You always told her you were busy, or you didn’t have the time to drive the few hours from the compound for a visit, and she was starting to get impatient.
“I don’t know what to tell your father. We both want to meet him” she would say.
“I know, but we’re busy” was always your excuse which was kind of true, with saving the world and all.
The last time you called her, you had told her that there was a weekend coming up that could work.
“We have a few days off coming up, I will see what we can do for a visit” you said, making your mom smile over the video call.
“Try hard dear, we really want to meet him” she said before hanging up.
“Ugh!” you groaned and threw your phone to the side and flopped back down on your bed. Bucky was in the room listening in to the conversation and joined you on the bed.
“What’s up doll?” he asked as he patted your head.
“My parents want to meet you” you cringed, suddenly you felt awkward and shy.
Bucky chuckled.
“That’s ok. I have to meet them at some point Y/n” he shrugged.
You looked at him and smiled.
 “How about next weekend?”
“Sure. I’d like to meet my girl’s family” he teased making you blush hard.
It still gave you goosebumps whenever he referred to you as his girl.
“Fine, but I am warning you in advance, things could get weird” you added, and he smiled as the two of you went to the kitchen for supper.
Bucky thought you were exaggerating since he was usually around when you talked to your family, and he thought they were fine.
You had called your mom and told her you would be brining Bucky home to meet them, and she was ecstatic.
“Just us, no one else?”
“Fine dear. There’s so much to plan!” she waved you off before she handed the phone to your dad who just shrugged and asked how you were doing.
The next few days, your mom started blowing up your phone with questions about what Bucky likes to eat and drink when you got a video call from your cousin.
“Heard we finally get to meet this so-called ‘Bucky’” she said using air quotes.
Your cousin May always teased you about not having a boyfriend. She was blonde, petite, had blue eyes, and a knockout body.
She could get any guy she wanted which always made you feel like a troll when you stood next to her at any sort of family function like a wedding.
She always had men eating out of her hand, flirting, and joking with them, it always made you grumble since you were not like that at all.
You weren’t as popular as she was in school and in life.
You were considered a nerd and she was Ms. Popular. She was a cheerleader, had a ton of friends, and of course was Prom Queen. You didn’t go to prom, and you didn’t date at all in high school since everyone thought you were invisible.
Your first real boyfriend was when you were out of college and at SHIELD. He was in the same class as you and you went out for a few months…if you could call him your boyfriend?
In any case, he transferred to London, and you were left alone, until you met Bucky.
You were a weapons trainer and was always around to show people the new weapons that were designed for the team. You and Bucky instantly hit it off when you got to talking to him about guns and ammo.
You spent a lot of time with him going over safety and new weapons when he asked you out for dinner after he finished in the gun range.
Not very romantic but for you and Bucky, it worked.
“For all we know, he’s fake. I mean what kind of name is Bucky anyways? What is this, 1930?” she joked, and you glared at her.
May obviously didn’t pay attention in history class nor did she read the news.
“May, what do you want?” you sighed.
“Nothing. I just wanted to let you know we’re all coming to meet this so-called Bucky of yours” she teased.
“What?”
“Your mom rented out a private room in a restaurant since she said she didn’t have enough room at your house to hold everyone.” she shrugged.
Everyone? What the hell?
You looked at the screen with furrowed brows.
What had your mom done?
How many people are coming?
This dinner was supposed to be casual, only the four of you, no one else. May smirked at you.
“See you on Saturday” she said before she ended the call.
You immediately facetimed your mom.
“Hi dear” she said smiling brightly.
“Mom, what’s going on Saturday? I thought Bucky and I would come by for a visit with just you and dad?”
Her smile dropped and she looked around.
“Mom?”
“Oh yes, well…your aunt and uncle want to meet him. You know I can’t say no to Beth. Then she invited the kids, and you know we don’t have the room here” she blabbed on and on and you cringed.
Bucky is not going to be thrilled that the casual meet the parents dinner has now turned into a shit show with your extended family coming along for the ride.
Aunt Beth, her sister, had the personality like a steam roller. She was loud, boisterous, noisy, and rude. Her kids were the same with May being the oldest and the same age as you.
You had no idea what your Uncle Ted saw in her. May’s two younger sisters Sheri and Amber were just as nosy and just as rude, following in May’s snotty footsteps.
“I was going to tell you, but I guess I forgot” she shrugged, and you sighed.
“Fine, but we aren’t staying late” you said, and she nodded.
Neutral ground, not as intimate if you were at your parent’s house so you felt a little better. You were praying your mom wouldn't schlep your baby photos to the restaurant. Although you wouldn't put it past her to cram some in her purse so she could embarrass you.
“Well, we’ll see you Saturday. Text me the details of the restaurant” you said, and she smiled.
“Of course, sweetie. See you soon” she waved, and you ended the call then groaned loudly while flopping down on the couch in the common room.
Bucky had walked in with a glass of water and sat down next to you.
“What’s up doll? You ok?”
“Please don’t be mad…”
He looked at you funny.
“That’s never a good start to a sentence” he teased, and you rolled your eyes at him.
“My mom invited my aunt, uncle, and cousins for dinner on Saturday” you said as Bucky thought about it.
“That’s fine. I was going to tell you…Steve put me on a small 24-hour mission on Friday. Just surveillance, no fighting. You’ll have to go there alone but I’ll meet you there?” he said in a hopeful tone, and you nodded.
You would just have to meet Bucky at the restaurant which was no big deal.
Your phone dinged with the location of the restaurant which you quickly texted to Bucky.
“Luigi’s is a good family-owned Italian place” you shrugged, and Bucky smiled and wrapped his arm around you.
“I’m sure it will be fine” he said while he kissed your forehead.
Bucky was gearing up for his small mission as you saw him in the hangar with his overnight bag.
“Dinner is at 7. You have the location, right?” you asked Bucky nodded for the 100th time.
“Yes doll. I’ll be there and I have the address” he said wrapping you up in his arms.
“I’ll miss you”
 “I’ll miss you more”
“Be careful and I’ll see you Saturday”
“I will. I’ll text you to let you know I’ve made it to the safe house”
“Sounds good. See you” you said while hugging him tightly.
“Bye”
You made your way to your parent’s home on the Saturday. Bucky had checked in with you a few times, saying how bored he was and that this mission wasn’t necessary, but Steve insisted he needed the intel which made you giggle.
Steve always overprepared for every mission, making Bucky grumble at his always eager best friend.
You had reminded Bucky again about the location of the restaurant and he once again said he would be there for dinner, easing your mind.
“I’m so glad we finally get to meet Bucky” your mom gushed from the front seat of the car as your dad drove.
“Should be fun” you replied, wanting the ground to swallow you up.
Your anxiety was skyrocketing the closer you got to the restaurant. You saw the rest of your family standing outside of the restaurant, waiting for you to show up.
“Hi Aunt Beth” you called as she eyed you up and down while bringing you in for a fake hug and overly dramatic cheek kiss.
 “Good to see you dear”
She looked around.
You hugged your uncle, and he patted your back.
“Nice to see you Y/n” he quietly said, and you smiled at him.
Uncle Ted was always a sweetheart to you.
“Where’s Bucky?” your aunt asked.
“He is real Y/n isn’t he?”
“He’s joining us later. Had a mission to complete” you said through gritted teeth.
Your mom had told them about it, but your aunt felt like she needed to ask herself.
Just then, you saw your cousin May and your other two cousins Sheri and Amanda walk up to your group.
“No Bucky I see?”
May asked and you had to bite your tongue since there was other people around. Sheri and Amanda snickered. You wanted to slap them.
“He’s meeting us here in a bit” you said, and they just nodded.
“Sure, he is”
May patted your arm which you quickly removed from her reach and scowled at her.
Great, they don’t believe me. They probably think I made him up,
Everyone walked into the restaurant and were led to the private dining area.
It sat about 15 people and had a nice long table that was set up with linens and plates. You immediately scanned the room and chose two chairs at the end of the table, away from everyone but your mom insisted you move to the middle so you and Bucky could be the centre of attention for the night.
Dammit.
“Sit here dear”
Your mom  moved the chair back from the table and waved you over. You got up and flopped down on the chair while you placed your purse in the empty chair next to you for Bucky. Everyone was quietly chatting when you took your phone out and looked at it for the 500th time. Bucky had messaged you.
“On my way!” making your stomach lurch.
You knew he would be about 30 minutes from the restaurant, so you put your phone down and relaxed a little.
“So, ‘Bucky’” May said sitting in the open seat next to where Bucky would sit.
“He’s on his way” you interrupted her, and she smirked at you.
“Of course he is”
She took out her phone and was tapping frantically.
“Ugh, I had to cancel a date to be here” she groaned.
You looked at her funny.
“No one forced you to be here”
She smirked at you.
“You with a guy? Come on Y/n, I had to see this for myself.”
She looked around.
“You’re still alone so I haven’t seen anything unusual” she shrugged and went back to her phone.
You were about to say something snarky to her when your mom came to your side and took you to your uncle and dad for a chat. You saw May and her two sisters walk out of the room, so you relaxed a little. You talked with your uncle and dad for a bit before you saw May wander back with a huge smile on her face and her sisters giggling behind her.
She was like some sort of queen bee with them following her like a bunch of lemmings.
Your other cousins seemed to share a brain whenever they were altogether.
You stepped away from your uncle and dad and went back to your spot at the table while a waiter came by and filled the glasses with water. She gave you a sympathetic smile as you thanked her while you took a sip.
May flopped down next to you and dramatically sighed.
“Are you ok?” you asked, and she nodded.
“Oh yes, perfectly fine actually” she replied while she switched her camera on her phone and used it like a mirror so she could primp herself and re-apply her ugly pink lipstick.
Her sisters snickered from behind her.
“Do you want a drink? I’m buying” she asked, and you shrugged.
“Fine”
Why not if she’s buying
You all got up and wandered to the restaurant bar.
“Don’t be too long dear, we should sit and order soon” your mom called, and you waved at her and pointed to the bar.
You walked to the bar and suddenly, you smirked when you saw what May was doing.
This should be good.
“She has her eyes on that guy over there” Amber pointed, and you looked over to where May was standing.
The “guy” stood tall at the bar and waited for his order to be filled as he looked around the restaurant. He had on a nice blue long-sleeved shirt and black dress pants. You approved of the man’s clothes choice but had to smile to yourself.
“Oh? He seems nice” you casually said.
“Are you kidding me? He’s hot!” Amber gushed.
“He’s a god”
Sheri chimed in, and you cleared your throat.
You saw May weasel herself to the bar and stand next to the man.
You had to see this for yourself, so you stepped closer to them and waited.
“Hi there”
May said in her deep “seductive” voice which made you roll your eyes.
 How pathetic.
He politely nodded and waited for his drink.
“So, come here often?” she asked, and he gave her a funny look.
You held back a snort.
“Uh, no?” he said, and May smiled brightly.
“Well, I can show you around handsome”
She  ran her finger down the man’s arm. He bristled at her contact and took a small step away.
“What do you say gorgeous? Want to come with me to my family’s boring dinner and keep me company? I promise I’ll make it worth your while” she said, and the man looked over at her and frowned.
You smiled to yourself.
“Ah, no thank you” was all he said as he took his drink and sipped it a little.
“I’m supposed to be meeting my loser cousin’s boyfriend tonight. But between you and me, I think he doesn’t exist” May said and the man nodded.
“She’s always been alone so her making up a fake boyfriend wouldn’t surprise me” she added, and the man scowled at her.
You had heard enough as you cleared your throat and the two of them looked back, the man leaned on the bar and May smiled.
“Hi May, who’s your friend?” you asked as you looked at her and the man and folded your arms.
“Oh, well, this is…”
She fumbled a little as the man looked at May then at you.
He was clearly uncomfortable.
“This is my friend. He’s joining us tonight” she said and wrapped her arm around the stranger’s arm.
“Really? This man right here is joining you?” you asked, and she nodded.
“Well, obviously…”
She leaned into him.
He bristled once again at her contact but smiled at you.
“Huh, that’s funny” you said tapping your chin in thought then walked up to the man and smiled.
You leaned over and kissed him while he wrapped his arms around your waist and returned your kiss.
“Hi doll” Bucky whispered in your ear.
He smiled brightly at you and wrapped an arm around your waist.
“May, I’d like to introduce you to Bucky. Bucky, this is my cousin May and my other cousins Amanda and Sheri” you said as you pointed to the two girls standing back looking like deer in headlights.
“Nice to meet you. I’m Bucky” he said and gave them a little wave.
The look on May’s face was priceless as her mouth slid open as she stood there staring at you and Bucky like a fish out of water.
“Come on then, we should meet my parents now that you’re here”
You took Bucky by the arm and walked to the private room, with your cousins following.
“I missed you” Bucky whispered in your ear.
“Me to. Thanks for that back there” you said, and he smiled.
“Anytime”
You both walked into the private room.
The evening went off without any issues, with May moving her seat next to your aunt while your uncle Ted took the seat next to Bucky. He was fascinated with Bucky’s stories from the 30’s and 40’s while you listened and watched May pout from her spot. Your mom and dad loved Bucky and were pleased with how the night was going.
Bucky even got to talk to your parents one on one which made you glad your aunt and her family didn’t take over like they normally did.
They saw the love and adoration Bucky gave you every time you talked and were pleased with what they saw. They knew of Bucky’s past since you told them prior, but they didn’t have any issues or reservations from the man that was sitting at the table.
“So, May, you come here often?” Bucky asked making you snort your drink you just put down.
She rolled her eyes and glared at you. Bucky turned to face you as your cousins and aunt and uncle were getting up to leave.
“As you can see, I am very much alive and real” he said, and your mom gave them a weird look.
“It was nice to meet you Bucky” Aunt Beth said, and Bucky got up to acknowledge them.
“Same here, although May seems a little sad?” he pouted a little as May’s face went bright red.
“I think her night took a turn”
Bucky wrapped his arm around your waist and kissed your cheek.
You smiled brightly at May who only scowled and took off to the front doors with her sisters trailing behind.
You said your goodbyes to your parents as you and Bucky made it to his car. He helped you into your seat while he jogged over and got in on his side. You drove back to the compound with his hand on your thigh.
“Thanks for tonight” you looked over at Bucky.
He looked over at you and gave you a lopsided smile.
“Anytime. Your parents and uncle are nice” he shrugged.
“Sorry about my aunt and cousins” you added, and he shook his head.
“May was…interesting. I had kind of figured out who she was at the bar. She’s friendly, but her personality is terrible” Bucky frowned, and you snorted.
“You have no idea. I’m just glad we put her in her place” you added, and Bucky agreed.
You drove the rest of the way in silence, looking out of the window as Bucky smiled to himself.
He was thankful he had some time to talk to your parents alone since he had an important question to ask them as he looked over and smiled at you.
They approved of Bucky and were more than willing to give him their blessing and were ecstatic he had plans for his future that included you.

Bucky needs to be smothered in kisses. No sex has to follow, just him allowing you to pepper kisses all over his cute face simply for being him and for looking so pretty and cute. Like, "Shut up, Bucky and take it" - proceeded by dozens of kisses 💋💋💋
Bucky deserves all the kisses! How about a little something for our tattoo artist?

Bucky flopped down on the break room couch with a tired smile. He had a hard time sleeping the night before and wanted a little rest before his first client of the day arrived. It didn't surprise him when he struggled to sleep. He could sometimes be a night owl when he wasn't dealing with the occasional nightmare, but last night was different. You consumed his thoughts after he went home.
Every single one of them.
You thinking of me, Sugar? I hope you are.
Hell, you hadn’t left his mind since he first walked into your shop. His beautiful, sweet baker with the warm smile and humor to brighten his day. You looked too pure to be with someone who looked like him. He wasn't blind to the stares he received whenever he went out. With his physique and exposed skin littered with ink, many wrote him off as dangerous without a second thought. They would’ve been shocked to learn he was a bit of a science nerd who loved to read in his spare time or that he served his country alongside his best friend.
Something told him you’d appreciate all those little details about him, especially since you asked him out.
"Wish I was taking you out now, Sugar," he whispered to himself as he shut his eyes.
Bucky didn’t want to admit to himself that he was a little nervous. From his chats with you, he gathered enough of an idea on where it would be good to take you for your first date. He didn’t want it to be generic though. If he couldn’t make it unique, it at least had to be special. Something you’d remember. You deserve the best.
And he wanted to show you he was nothing like your prick of an ex.
"Hey."
The sound of your voice beside him made his eyes open, his heart racing as you smiled. He hadn’t even heard your footsteps. When he tried to sit up, you pushed him to lay back down. The sugary scent that lingered on your skin from the shop had him licking his lips as you moved on top of him. But instead of your normal work clothes and apron, you wore a sundress.
One that was dangerously riding up your hips as you straddled him.
And he was too in awe to stop you.
“How did you get back here?” he whispered, not at all upset that you managed to sneak into the room.
“Steve let me in,” you whispered back, framing his face. He couldn’t decide where to place his hands. He wanted them all over you. “I had a break and couldn’t wait to see you.”
“You saw me last night,” he smirked as you leaned down, your lips dangerously close to his. “Not that I’m complaining.”
While the guys heard all about you and expected to meet you at some point, no one thought you would rush into the shop the way you had. You didn’t know it yet, but they all had a soft spot for you because of Bucky. Even if they didn’t, not a single one of them would’ve put up with how your dick of an ex spoke to you. Respect meant everything in their establishment and any man who talked down to someone the way he had with you had no right to be there.
The fucker made you cry, but I wiped that smug look off his face just for you.
“Too long to wait,” you smiled, your breath skimming his mouth. It paralyzed him as he waited to see what you would do next. “And I know our date isn’t until Friday, but I want to kiss you now.”
“Why do you wanna kiss me?” he smiled because yours was contagious.
“Because I want to thank you.”
“You don’t need to,” he promised. He’d stick up for you no matter what the situation called for. Call him smitten or a decent guy, that was just how he was.
“I want to. I also want to kiss you because you’re pretty. And, yes, you are pretty because I say so,” you teased, which earned an almost bashful smile from him. He was far from pretty, but any sort of compliment from you meant the world. “But mainly because you’re a good man and deserve a kiss.”
“Just a kiss?” he asked as he did his best to keep his hips still. You didn’t just deserve the best date, but you deserve a gentleman as well. Fuck, did he want you though and the things he wanted to do to you were far from innocent. He wondered if you felt through his jeans just how much he did.
“Just a kiss. For now,” you said, closing the gap between the two of you.
There was no hunger or desperation when your tongue slipped past his lips. Even when he deepend the kiss, you didn’t rush. It was soft and tender, but held the promise of something more just like your first kiss had. He wasn’t just a moth drawn to your flame. He carried the fuel and wanted to douse you in it.
Bucky craved to be the one who brought your fire to the surface until it consumed you both.
“Am I dreaming?” he exhaled, finally gripping your hips when you dragged your lips along his face. The featherlight motions were enough to drive him mad, tempting him to flip you over so he could explore your body properly. No, he needed to let you stay in control for now. “Sugar, you’re killing me.”
“And what a way to go, Hottie. So, shut up and take my kisses,” you giggled.
He chuckled as you smothered him with your lips and he took the opportunity to hold you closer. It felt right to have you in his arms. He couldn’t recall the last time he fell for someone so quickly, if ever. What if that scared you?
What if he scared you?
“It’s time to wake up, Bucky,” you whispered in his ear. “I’ll see you soon.”
Bucky’s brows furrowed as you faded from his arms. “Sugar?” he asked. Where did you go?
“Buck, you need to get up!”
Steve’s shout startled Bucky awake and it was a miracle he didn’t fall off the couch. His heart pounded before he realized he had been dreaming. You weren’t in the back room with him. You hadn’t smothered him with gentle kisses.
He was all alone.
“What the fuck?” he whispered, tossling his hair as he sat up.
Figures. It was just a dream, but I’m glad I had it.
“You okay?” Steve asked as he carefully approached his friend. “Hey, I wasn’t trying to scare you. Called your name a couple of times and that didn’t do the trick. Didn’t think I should touch you either.”
“I’m fine. Thanks,” Bucky huffed a little. Both of them had their share of nightmares after being overseas. Steve wouldn’t have yelled his name if he thought something was wrong, so he must’ve appeared peaceful enough. Peace. That was what you gave him, even if his jeans felt a little tighther and uncomfortable.
“You need a minute?” the blonde smirked when Bucky adjusted a bit.
“Why did you wake me?” he replied, avoiding his question. The guys knew well enough how crazy he was about you and didn’t need to know he was dreaming about you in the shop. “I’m sure it was extremely important.”
“Because your client should be here in a few minutes and I wanted to make sure you didn’t sleep through the appointment. So, yeah, extremely important.”
With a nod, Bucky slowly got to his feet. “Space is already cleaned and disinfected. Stencil’s done, too,” he said. He liked to prepare as much as he could and they prided themselves on having a clean and safe workspace. “Um, Sugar hasn’t stopped by, has she?”
Steve shook his head. “No, she hasn’t,” he answered, giving Bucky a small smile when he frowned. He knew all about the date. “But Friday is just around the corner if you don’t see her before then.”
He tried not to feel disappointment and swore he could still smell the sugary scent of you in the air. It must’ve lingered on the couch from when you were there the night before. He wished he could have that smell on his pillows and sheets. “I like her.”
“I know you do. We all do,” Steve said, leaning against the wall. “We even told Hal he wasn’t allowed to go into the bakery out of fear that she’d fall for his charm,” he added with a wink.
I’m charming, too.
“No, punk,” he said, not wanting to be more vulnerable than he already had. “I really like her.”
The playful look on Steve’s face fell, replaced with something softer. “I know, jerk. And I think she really likes you, too. So be the good guy we know you are and sweep her off her feet.”
That’s exactly what Bucky planned to do.

Y/N, an ambitious analyst at Goldenlix Capital, had consistently delivered profitable predictions for the hedge fund.
Despite her hard work, the promotion she longed for slipped away when the CEO's nephew, Simon, secured the portfolio manager position.
Frustrated, Y/N sought solace at a nightclub with her colleagues. As Y/N immersed herself in the pulsating beats and vibrant atmosphere of the nightclub, she was unaware of the watchful eyes observing her every move.
The rhythm of the music and the clinking of glasses provided a temporary escape from the frustrations at work.
Suddenly, a lavish display of expensive drinks arrived at her table, catching Y/N off guard. The waitress informed her that they were compliments of the house, leaving Y/N momentarily puzzled by the unexpected gesture.
Just as she wondered who might be behind this gesture, Bucky entered.
Bucky made his entrance with confidence, navigating through the crowd with a swagger that suggested a newfound maturity.
Dressed in an impeccably tailored, expensive suit, he exuded a sense of self-assuredness. His arrival was accompanied by the subtle clink of cufflinks and the rich scent of a high-end cologne.
As he approached Y/N's table, Bucky flashed a charming smile, his eyes hinting at a mixture of mischief and sophistication.
However, Y/N, ever focused and unswayed by external displays, remained unimpressed by his polished appearance. She eyed him skeptically, silently signaling that material possessions wouldn't alter her priorities or impressions.
With a smirk, he approached Y/N, confidently revealing, "I thought you could use a taste of the finer things tonight, Y/N. It's on me.”
There, she unexpectedly encountered Bucky, a college classmate with a history of teasing her. Now claiming to be the club's owner, Bucky attempted to flirt with her.
Unimpressed, Y/N looked down on his attempt to impress her. "Owning a nightclub doesn't change who you are, Bucky. I'm focused on my career," she retorted, dismissing his advances.
Undeterred, Bucky tried a different approach, acknowledging his past mistakes. "People change, Y/N. Maybe you should loosen up and enjoy the night," he suggested.
Maintaining her composure, Y/N replied, "I'll pass on the life lessons, Bucky. I have bigger goals than spending my time with someone who hasn't really grown up.”
Y/N's colleagues discreetly made their exit, leaving her alone with Bucky. He nodded appreciatively, acknowledging their departure, and sat beside her, pouring a drink into her glass.
"So, what's the problem? I never thought the nerd of my class would spend money on the expensive table," Bucky remarked teasingly.
Y/N scoffed, "This is expensive? I didn't realize."
Surprised by her nonchalant response, Bucky commented, "Where is the timid Y/N I know? She's gone.”
Y/N gulped her drink, contemplating his observation. "Money. Everything could change because of money," she admitted.
Her past, rooted in a modest upbringing, had shaped her determination to succeed. Working hard to escape financial constraints, her dream was to become a fund manager.
She looked at Bucky with a hint of disdain. She doesn't appreciate people like him who lead careless lives just because they come from wealthy families.
Bucky noticed the scattered name cards of Y/N's colleagues on the table and picked one up. Reading it, he remarked, "Goldenlix Capital? You work there? That's impressive."
Y/N responded with a nonchalant "hmm."
Bucky, perceptive, ventured, "Let me guess, you didn't get the promotion?"
Surprised, Y/N asked, "How...?"
Bucky leaned back, a knowing smile playing on his lips. "I've seen many types of people come and go in this place," he said, revealing a hint of insight into the workings of the professional world they both navigated.
Bucky's casual revelation about his observations at Goldenlix Capital intrigued Y/N, prompting her to give him a scrutinizing look. As she contemplated his words, Bucky continued, "It's a tough world out there, especially when you're navigating corporate ladders."
Y/N, still guarded, responded, "You seem to have it all figured out."
Bucky chuckled, "Well, not everything, but I've learned a thing or two. Sometimes it's not just about hard work; it's about playing the game.”
Bucky leaned in, a glint of sincerity in his eyes, as he proposed, "Let me be your client."
Y/N, skeptical, questioned, "Why?"
Bucky shrugged a hint of nostalgia in his tone, "I don't know. Perhaps because of a nostalgic feeling. I want to help an old friend."
Y/N, maintaining her guard, retorted, "We were never friends. You always used me."
With a sly smile, Bucky countered, "Then, I'll use this as my apology letter."
The air between them carried tension, a mix of unresolved history and an unexpected proposal.
As Bucky got closer, the alluring scent of his elegant perfume enveloped Y/N. Their proximity seemed to amplify the tension, a subtle dance of conflicting emotions.
"I'm serious. Give me your name card," Bucky whispered, a soft murmur against the rhythmic beats of the music.
Y/N, somewhat reluctantly, handed over her name card. Bucky took it with a charming smile, his gaze lingering on hers. "Tomorrow your boss will go nuts," he predicted, a mischievous glint in his eyes.
With a final, lingering look, Bucky gracefully rose from his seat. "See you next time," he said, leaving Y/N in a state of contemplation, the lingering scent of his perfume and the enigmatic encounter resonating in the dimly lit ambiance of the nightclub.
Tumblr media
Excitement mixed with intrigue surged through Y/N as she stepped into the bustling office the next day. Her boss, Ivan,  beckoned her into his office with an animated expression, "Y/N, we've just landed a significant new client. The funds have been wired, and you're in charge."
Perusing the financial statement, Y/N's eyes widened at the substantial amount. "This is impressive, sir. I'll ensure it's handled with utmost precision," she assured.
Ivan leaned back in his chair, a shrewd smile on his lips. "Not just impressive, Y/N. Make it triple. We need to show our new client the prowess of Goldenlix Capital.”
Y/N nodded, her mind already racing with investment strategies. "I'll diversify the portfolio, perhaps allocate more in growth stocks, considering the current market trends. And we can leverage options to enhance returns without taking excessive risk," she suggested.
Ivan impressed with her immediate analysis, nodded in agreement. "Exactly, Y/N. Show them why you're the rising star here."
As she left his office, Y/N couldn't help but reflect on the unexpected turn of events—Bucky's proposition at the nightclub, the mysterious new client, and now the challenge to triple the investment.
Now witnessing his portfolio's profits tripling under Y/N's adept guidance, Bucky couldn't help but be impressed. As rumors circulated about Y/N potentially becoming the next portfolio manager, her boss and colleagues acknowledged her exceptional skills.
One day, Bucky approached Y/N with a mixture of admiration and amusement. "I knew I could count on you, Y/N. Looks like you're not just the 'nerd' from our college days anymore."
Y/N, maintaining her professionalism, Y/N replied with a slight smirk, "Money talks, Bucky. It's all about making the right moves in the market."
Bucky, however, seemed persistent in keeping the conversation personal. "Or maybe it's about making the right moves in life," he teased, a suggestive glint in his eyes.
Y/N raised an eyebrow, unyielding. "Let's keep it professional, Bucky. This is business.”
As Y/N attempted to make a swift exit, Bucky intercepted her, his hand gently restraining her. Irritated, she shot him a sharp look, demanding, "What?!"
Bucky, undeterred, asserted, "I'll double my money."
Y/N, skeptical, retorted, "What for? You already have enough. You need to learn about limits."
With a wry smile, Bucky countered, "If I have to pay a high price just to have a date with you, then I will pay everything."
Rolling her eyes, Y/N dismissed his proposition, "Yeah, right."
Bucky leaned in, a teasing glint in his eyes. "My silly Y/N. Don't you know why I always played with you back then?”
Y/N, unamused, shot back, "You bullied me to get my attention. Are you in kindergarten?”
Y/N, after a moment of contemplation, finally relented, "Fine. One date. But no, I don't want your money. The stock market is not good this time. What if you get mad because you lose money?"
Bucky chuckled, his tone playful, "There's no way I'm going to be mad at you, silly.”
As Y/N and Bucky shared that one date, their connection deepened, weaving a thread of unexpected intimacy into their lives.
The complexities of their relationship unfolded like a carefully scripted narrative, intertwining the professional and personal in a way that left Y/N simultaneously exhilarated and hesitant.
Her life, seemingly perfect after successfully handling Bucky's portfolio, took an unforeseen turn when her Ivan dropped a bombshell – he wanted to hand over Bucky, her biggest client, to his nephew, Simon.
The news sent shockwaves through Y/N, her world suddenly tilted on its axis.
Y/N, with a mix of frustration and anxiety, found herself standing at Bucky's doorstep, the weight of her predicament evident in her eyes. Sensing her distress, Bucky welcomed her inside, "What happened, Y/N? You look like you've seen a ghost."
Taking a deep breath, Y/N explained the situation, "My boss wants to hand over your portfolio to his nephew. It's a complete mess, and I don't know what to do."
Bucky, leaning against the wall, studied her with a thoughtful gaze. "You came to me for help. Looks like our roles are reversing."
Y/N, a hint of vulnerability in her voice, admitted, "I never thought I'd need help, especially from someone like you.”
Bucky, his expression softening, replied, "We all need help sometimes. It doesn't make you weak.”
As Y/N faced the uncertain aftermath of seeking Bucky's help, she soon discovered that her most significant competitor, Simon, had mysteriously vanished from the office scene.
The absence of the rival candidate created a void that only she could fill, paving the way for Y/N to enter the role of project manager uncontested.
The news rippled through the office, and Y/N found herself at the center of surprise and admiration.
Colleagues congratulated her on the unexpected turn of events, and her boss, puzzled by his nephew's disappearance, acknowledged her as the natural choice for the project manager position.
Gratitude and curiosity again led Y/N to Bucky's door, a soft knock signaling her presence. As Bucky opened the door, a knowing smile played on his lips, "Come to thank me, Y/N?"
Y/N responded with a hint of appreciation in her eyes, "I can't deny that your mysterious touch might have played a role in my unexpected promotion. So, thank you."
Bucky, stepping closer, his gaze lingering, remarked, "I'm always here to help, especially when it comes to you.”
Tumblr media
Three months had passed, and Bucky, in the routine of his daily activities, eagerly anticipated seeing his girlfriend. The past week had kept Y/N busy as she jetted off to Dubai to meet with a new client.
However, on this particular day, as Bucky went about his usual tasks, his assistant interrupted, a hint of apprehension in their voice, "Sir, the police are here."
Bucky, initially thinking he had misheard, questioned, "Huh?"
The police, standing with an air of authority, informed Bucky that he was accused of money laundering. Unfazed, Bucky dismissed the accusation with a roll of his eyes, stating, "Money laundering? I'm a legit businessman.”
The police countered, accusing him of using Goldenlix Capital for money laundering. Bucky scoffed, insisting the company was legitimate.
The turning point came when his assistant displayed a live news report on their phone, revealing that Goldenlix Capital was now branded as a scam company.
Bucky, disbelief written on his face, uttered, "What?!" Realizing the severity of the situation, he urgently reached for his phone, attempting to call Y/N, only to face the frustration of her unanswered calls.
As the news of Goldenlix Capital being labeled a scam investment company flooded every media outlet, Bucky was engulfed in chaos. Desperate for information about Y/N's whereabouts, he pressed the police, hoping for reassurance.
Bucky questioned, anxiety seeping into his voice, "Have you seen any news about Y/N?"
The police, maintaining an air of detachment, replied, “She went missing."
Bucky's eyes widened in disbelief, and he uttered a baffled "Huh?!" The absence of Y/N from the news coverage added another layer of mystery to an already bewildering situation.
As he grappled with the unfolding events, uncertainty and concern for Y/N's safety overshadow the chaos surrounding Goldenlix Capital.
The unfolding chaos threatened his professional empire and the stability of the connection he had built with Y/N in the past few months.
Fury burned within Bucky as the realization sunk in – he hadn't merely lost money; he had been played. The anger surged through him, a relentless fire fueled by the betrayal he felt. Determination set in, transforming his frustration into a resolute mission.
His mind raced with questions about Y/N's motives, but the lack of information only intensified his desire to uncover the truth.
Bucky, driven by a newfound resolve, vowed to track down Y/N and unravel the mystery behind her involvement, or lack thereof, in the scandal that had befallen Goldenlix Capital.
Tumblr media
As Y/N sat on the beach, watching the chaos unfold on her tablet, a sense of satisfaction washed over her. Finally, her carefully orchestrated plan to destroy Goldenlix Capital was playing out as intended.
The roots of her vendetta can be traced back 15 years when her family, once content in their middle-class life, had fallen victim to a deceitful investment scheme.
Flashback Start
Introduced by a relative, Y/N's father had invested a small amount in Maxim Capital, enticed by the promise of a 7% monthly profit. The regular returns had built a false sense of trust.
However, driven by greed, Y/N's father had invested half of their savings into Maxim Capital. The deceptive scheme vanished six months later, leaving the company in ruins and wiping out a significant portion of Y/N's family's hard-earned money.
As Y/N's family crumbled into financial ruin after the Maxim Capital scam, her relative, who had introduced them to the fraudulent investment, callously shrugged off any responsibility. The repercussions were severe, forcing Y/N's father to take desperate measures.
Unable to secure a traditional loan due to his plummeted credit score, Y/N's father sought assistance from a loan shark. The borrowed sum might have been small, intended for crucial medicine for Y/N's ailing mother, but its interest was exorbitant.
The loan shark in question, Nicholas Barnes, was none other than Bucky's father.
Fueled by a burning anger and a thirst for revenge, Y/N channeled her emotions into her studies, delving deep into economics to comprehend the intricacies of investments.
Her pursuit of knowledge became a double-edged sword, with academic excellence as a guise for a more sinister motive.
Even as she immersed herself in her studies, Y/N never lost sight of her plan for retribution. Every lesson about investments and financial strategies became a tool in her arsenal to orchestrate the downfall of those who had once exploited her family's vulnerabilities.
As Y/N navigated the complexities of her revenge plan, an unexpected twist unfolded in the form of Bucky. Fortune seemed to favor her, and she couldn't quite comprehend why the "Goddess of luck" appeared on her side. Bucky's growing interest in her became a peculiar element in her carefully crafted narrative.
While Y/N couldn't fathom the reasons behind Bucky's fascination, she saw it as a stroke of luck.
Y/N, cleverly using her position at Goldenlix, exploited the opportunity to gather information about the victims of the investment scams discreetly.
The guise of her role gave her access to crucial details, names, and backgrounds that would later become instrumental in executing her revenge.
In the case of Bucky, her intentions were more straightforward – to pilfer his wealth. The intricate dance of trust and vulnerability between them served as a cover for her ulterior motives.
Y/N, driven by a desire for retribution, saw Bucky's financial downfall as a key component of her revenge plan.
Their shared history of friendship only fueled Y/N's determination to make Bucky understand the anguish of misplaced trust.
Just as Nicholas had played with her father's trust, she intended to manipulate Bucky's emotions, leading him down a path of betrayal that mirrored her family's pain years ago.
Flashback End
As Y/N settled into her seat, her fingers danced across the keyboard with purpose. Each keystroke represented a meticulous calculation, determining the amount of money – with the accrued interest over 15 years – that Goldenlix Capital had pilfered from their unsuspecting victims.
With a determined click of the 'Send' button, Y/N initiated a digital cascade that would return the ill-gotten gains to those who had fallen prey to the investment scams.
Despite the years that had elapsed since their losses, she hoped this restitution would bring peace to the victims.
As Y/N gazed up at the sky, a quiet moment of reflection enveloped her. The weight of her actions, the meticulous plan for revenge, and the redemption she had sought for her family hung in the air.
She hoped, somewhere beyond the vast expanse above, that her parents would be proud of her unconventional method of reclaiming their lost money.
Tumblr media
One year later, in the quiet embrace of a small town, a remarkable female teacher had become a beacon of inspiration at the local elementary school.
Known for her exceptional skills in teaching mathematics, she cultivated a passion for numbers among her students. She led them to triumph at the Olympic level, earning gold medals for their achievements.
The echoes of her dedication resonated through the halls of the school, leaving an indelible mark on the young minds she nurtured.
The once-sleepy town now boasted a newfound pride in its educational achievements, thanks to the remarkable teacher whose commitment and expertise had transformed the academic landscape.
The routine exchange of greetings became a familiar melody in the small town's elementary school. Every morning, as students hurried through the hallways, they would greet their beloved teacher with a cheerful, "Morning, Miss Y/N."
Y/N, now a beacon of knowledge and guidance for these young minds, responded with a warm smile, echoing, "Morning, don't run in the hallway."
"Okay."
The simple yet affectionate interactions spoke volumes about the transformation Y/N had undergone – from a seeker of revenge to a nurturing educator shaping the future
As Y/N reflected on the passing year, a bittersweet smile played on her lips. Justice had been served as the boss of Goldenlix, and Ivan faced the consequences, forced to part with his ill-gotten wealth to cover legal expenses.
However, when it came to Bucky, a twinge of regret and sadness lingered in her heart. The connection they had forged amidst the intricate dance of revenge carried a weight of impossibility. The revelation that he was the son of the loan shark, Nicholas Barnes, cast a shadow over what could have been.
Y/N, despite the passage of time, Y/N found herself haunted by a lingering fear that Bucky might seek revenge. The uncertainty gnawed at her, and she wished she could overcome the apprehension that one day, the consequences of her calculated actions might come knocking at her door.
As Y/N returned to her small home, an unsettling feeling crept over her. The once familiar space now emanated an unusual coldness. A sense of foreboding settled in, causing her to hesitate before stepping further into the house.
When she decided to leave, her hand reaching for the doorknob, she discovered a chilling truth – the door was locked outside. Panic set in as the realization dawned that she was trapped within her own home.
Fear gripped Y/N's heart as she grappled with the possibility that her past actions might be catching up to her.
A chill ran down her spine as Y/N stood trapped in her own house when the front door creaked open. The atmosphere shifted as an unwelcome presence entered, and the smile that once held warmth now appeared cold and calculated.
Bucky, who had stepped into her sanctuary, greeted her with an unsettling calmness, "Hello, sweetie. You have some explaining to do.”

[Steve Rogers x Female!Reader]
Synopsis: When another date ends in disaster, and Steve shows up in an attempt to “cheer” you up, you’re instantly against everything. But it’s Steve, and you should know by now that he never takes no for an answer.
WC: 3859
Category: Fluff
A lot of people liked my other Steve fic, so I felt inclined to make another. This time with a lot more fluff (you’re welcome @summerrivera777777).
『••✎••』
Needless to say, you were shocked when you heard the roar of a motorcycle.
You didn’t do well with dates. In your 24 years of life, you had a total of one boyfriend, and he was the absolute worst. So, in the last six months, you have been avoiding all social activities like the plague and focusing solely on yourself and your future.
That meant that you had become very comfortable being a hermit and avoiding any and all contact with other human beings. You were happy that way.
So why was a man who looked like an absolute God sitting on a motorcycle at the front door of your house?
Well, because you broke that rule a week ago.
In all fairness, the man was cute. A nerdy, awkward kind of cute. And he was a gentleman. And you were lonely.
So, when he asked you for your number, you were too lonely to turn him down. You hadn’t expected him to call, and you certainly didn’t expect him to ask you out on a date. But you also didn't think you would have the willpower to say no.
So you accepted, and it turned out to be the biggest regret of your life. The “nerd” was actually a complete dick, and after 30 minutes, you just wanted to go home. But you couldn’t because he refused to pay for the meal, so you were stuck there with him.
The worst part of the night was when he got into his car and tried to follow you home. He kept insisting that he just wanted to be a good guy and make sure that you got home safely, but you were sure that he just wanted to see where you lived and probably get in a few gropes along the way.
Luckily, you were able to lose him about three blocks from your house. It was a good thing, too, because your phone had died a couple of blocks ago, and you were afraid that if you got caught by him, you wouldn't have a way to call for help.
The next day, you made an executive decision to stay the hell away from men, with the exception of a few nice, safe friends. That was how you ended up here, seven days later, hiding in your room and ignoring your doorbell.
The bell kept ringing, and you knew that whoever was out there wasn't going to go away anytime soon. Groaning, you threw your covers off of your body and stomped towards the front door.
You threw open the door, ready to rip someone a new one, when your angry speech caught in your throat.
Steve Rogers was standing on your front porch.
He was a friend from work, to simplify a very long story. You met him two years ago when you started at SHIELD. You were a tech genius, and you worked closely with the Avengers to keep their equipment running.
Steve was always sweet and funny. You had a lot in common and were very close. After a while, you started hanging out with him and his friends, Natasha, Sam, and Bucky. It was great.
As exceptions to men go, he was definitely a big one. He was a walking god, with the physique and the looks to prove it. And here he was, on your front porch, holding keys that belonged to the motorcycle parked out front.
You looked at the motorcycle, then back to Steve, before your face went blank.
"No."
"What?"
"No."
Steve cocked an eyebrow. A smile tugged at his lips as if he were amused. "No?"
"Nope. Whatever you're trying to sell, I'm not buying."
"Why would I be trying to sell you something? I’m not even selling anything."
"It’s an expression, Steve, Jesus." You said, throwing your hands up in exasperation. Steve might’ve been your best friend, but the guy was such a 90-year-old sometimes. "If you think that I'm going to get on that thing with you, you're wrong. It's death on two wheels."
His eyes widened in surprise, a laugh bubbling in his throat. He looked over his shoulder at the bike, then back to you.
"That's... a little dramatic, don't you think?"
"I'm serious, Steve. It's not happening. I don't trust that thing, and I'm not going to die in some freak accident."
He crossed his arms over his chest, the sleeves of his leather jacket tightening over his biceps. His smile didn't fade as he spoke, which only annoyed you more.
"It's not going to kill you. I’m quite insulted that you would think that I would put you in danger."
"You're an Avenger. You put me in danger just by existing."
His lips twitched, and you had the feeling that he was holding back a comment.
"Look," he said, leaning against the door frame. "You haven't come out with us in weeks, and I'm worried. It's not healthy to lock yourself in your house all the time. With the job we have, there's never a guarantee of tomorrow, and if I were you, I'd want to spend every day living it to the fullest."
His words caught you off guard. He was right. It had been almost two months since you had gone out with the group. You just couldn't find the motivation. You were content being at home, alone. You had gotten a little lax in your friendships, only going to work and coming straight home. And now, with the… issues… with your date, you just didn't have the heart to try again.
You could feel your resolve starting to crumble, but you tried to stay strong.
"That's a low blow, Rogers." You grumbled, crossing your arms over your chest. "But my answer is still no."
"You think that was a low blow?” He scoffed as he pushed himself away from the door and took a step forward.
He was so much taller than you, and his presence was overwhelming. With the added tightness of his clothing and the confidence in his eyes, it tricked your eyes into seeing him as bigger than he really was. He was big, of course, but right now, it felt like he was towering over you.
Your heart began to race, a flush spreading over your cheeks.
"You clearly never played football because if you did, you'd know that this was a real low blow."
Without warning, he grabbed you by the waist and threw you over his shoulder.
"Hey!" You squealed, slapping your hand against his lower back. He was wearing a black shirt and jeans, and you could see the muscles ripple in his back with every step that he took. "Put me down!"
"You're going to have fun today."
"Steve! Put me down right now! I swear to God if you don't-"
"You'll what?" He laughed, the deep rumble making your stomach flutter. "Punish me?"
You huffed as you pounded on his back with your fist. You weren't mad at him, really; you just didn't know how to respond.
Steve practically dragged you outside. You were sure that you looked ridiculous, but you were thankful that you lived far enough away from your neighbors for no one to witness this. When he finally set you down next to the motorcycle, you gave him a glare.
"You're an ass, Steve Rogers."
He gave you a smirk as he swung his leg over the bike, his leather jacket tightening around his arm as his muscles flexed. Personally, you hated leather, but the way it fit him...
"Steve, I’m not wearing the right clothes."
He was quiet as his eyes swept over you. You were wearing shorts and a tank top since it was the middle of summer and you were hot, but he was looking at you like you were covered head to toe in leather.
"We can go buy something and change in the bathroom or something."
He seemed to think for a moment before he gave a single nod.
"Sure."
He started the bike and motioned for you to get on behind him. Goddamn it, Steve.
Sighing, you swung your leg over the bike and wrapped your arms around his torso. It was an incredibly intimate position, with your body pressed up against his and your faces mere inches apart. For a moment, you didn’t even realize when he swung a helmet down in front of your face.
"Put this on, Scaredy-Cat."
"Shut up, I'm not scared. Just... concerned."
He raised an eyebrow at you, his smirk still ever-present. You rolled your eyes before slipping the helmet onto your head.
The engine rumbled beneath you, and Steve revved the engine a couple of times, laughing when you squeaked in surprise and gripped him tighter. You could feel the laughter in his chest, his muscles moving under your fingers.
"Hold on tight, princess. Wouldn't want you falling off."
"You're a dick."
"Language."
"I will push you off this bike."
Steve didn't say anything; he just pulled the kickstand up and eased the bike into drive.
You squealed when the bike began to move, tightening your hold on Steve and burying your face in his back. He didn’t seem to mind; he just chuckled and sped up a bit.
You tried not to scream as he maneuvered the bike through traffic, weaving in and out of cars. It was a terrifying experience, especially since you had the distinct impression that Steve was taking advantage of the situation and driving recklessly.
You felt the wind on your legs and the constant hair strands whipping into your face, but you refused to look up. The speed, the closeness of the cars, and the fact that there was nothing keeping you on the bike except for Steve made it impossible to even think about moving.
When Steve finally stopped the bike, you had your eyes closed tight, and your body pressed completely up against him. Your arms were wrapped around him so tightly he was surprised you could breathe.
He took a moment to enjoy the feeling before gently prying your hands off of him and stepping off the bike. He turned and reached out a hand for you, waiting patiently for you to move. When you didn’t, he moved back towards the bike and took the helmet off your head.
You were breathing hard, trying desperately not to show how scared you were.
"It wasn’t that bad."
You shot him a glare, which made him grin.
"Just... shut up."
He laughed and helped you off the bike, wrapping an arm around your shoulders and pulling you close. He was a gentleman, of course, and you couldn’t complain about the feeling of his hard body pressed up against yours, but the sudden closeness was a bit overwhelming.
"Ugh, I think I have whiplash."
"Liar," said Steve with another laugh, be dramatic. You liked it, admit it."
"Whatever, why are you even kidnapping me, anyways?"
"I told you. It's not healthy to sit in a dark room, alone, all day, every day."
"First, rude.” You said, giving him a nudge in the side. He let out a small sound, which made your eyes widen in surprise.
"Did that hurt you, oh Captain, my Captain?"
"It didn't hurt," he grumbled, rolling his eyes. "And second?"
"What?"
"First, rude," he mimicked in a high-pitched voice. "Second?"
"Oh! Yeah, why are we actually doing this?"
That’s when Steve paused. Your heart instantly dropped at his hesitation. Steve only hesitated for two reasons. The first reason would be if he were completely at a loss for words, and clearly, by his recent attitude, that wasn’t the case. So that left the second reason: because he knew something that he either didn’t want to tell you or something he wasn’t supposed to know.
With recent events, it wasn’t difficult to guess what was happening.
"Natasha told you, didn't she."
You were already pulling away from him, ready to go back home and hide in your bed for the rest of eternity, when he caught your wrist.
“Hey,” His voice was softer, and there was a hint of sadness in his eyes. “It doesn't matter. What matters is that you have a good time today, alright? So, forget about what happened, forget about what Natasha said, and just focus on having a good day. Okay?"
“I don’t want a pity date, Steve. It’s nice that you care and everything, but-”
"I'm not pity dating you." His voice was firm, and his face was hard, the complete opposite of the way it was just moments before.
"Then what do you call this? My actual date sucked, and I've been cooped up in my house, so you thought, 'Hey, why not take her out and show her a good time?'"
Steve let out a sigh and shook his head, his fingers loosening around your wrist. "No, no. That's not... I'm sorry."
The change in him was drastic. He seemed to shrink in on himself, and his head drooped like a kicked puppy.
"Steve,"
He lifted his head and looked at you, his baby-blue eyes filled with guilt.
"You have no idea how badly I want to punch that guy for treating you like that.” He spoke softly as if the words were only meant for him to hear. But, as the saying goes, the walls have ears, and the parking lot was pretty damn quiet. “But that's not what this is. You're my friend, and I hate to see you sad. I'm not here just because of a stupid date. I'm here because I care about you."
There was a pause, a heavy silence hanging between the two of you. He was looking at you expectantly, a pleading look in his eyes.
"I'm not going to make you talk about it if you don't want to."
"Okay,"
"And I'm not going to bring it up again unless you do.”
"Okay."
"And, I'm not going to ask you for anything in return, maybe a little more conversation, a smile, maybe a laugh, but other than that..."
A smile slowly crept onto your face. He had the uncanny ability to make everyone else smile, regardless of their mood, and he was the only one who could do it. It’s not that his jokes were particularly funny because they weren't, but it was the way he said them.
He was an awkward, nervous mess most of the time, but when he was confident when he was in his element, there was no stopping him.
"You sure you want to waste all your energy on me, old man?"
His lips twitched at the nickname, his eyes brightening. "For you, doll? Anything."
And there it was. That goddamn smile that made your heart skip a beat and butterflies erupt in your stomach. He was just too sweet, and it was completely unfair.
"Come on," he said, wrapping his arm around your shoulders and tugging you close. "Let's get you something nice."
You smiled as you walked next to him. As much as you hated the motorcycle ride, it was nice to spend some time with Steve. He parked outside a Target, and the two of you walked in, immediately making your way to the women's section.
You took charge almost immediately, going to the racks and picking out different things. Steve followed behind you, carrying your armfuls of clothes as you added more. You went through rack after rack, throwing the things that caught your eye into his arms.
After about the tenth outfit, you turned around and saw him standing there, his arms filled with clothing and a smile on his face. You ignored it or tried to, as you turned back around and went to another rack.
When you finally finished, you had an armful of outfits, and Steve was practically weighed down. He didn't seem to mind, though, and you had the feeling that he had enjoyed his role as a pack mule. When the shopping was done, you ran to the bathrooms and changed into the outfit while Steve waited outside.
A pullover hoodie and a pair of jeans, the closest thing that Target had to leather. Not exactly what you wanted, but it would work. When you stepped out of the stall, you found Steve sitting in one of the chairs, flipping through a magazine. Such a 90-year-old, again.
He looked up when he heard the door open, his eyes sweeping over your form.
"Where to now? The ditch?"
Steve rolled his eyes, a smile spreading across his lips. "You’re an avid book reader, right? What's the biggest bookstore in the area?"
"Are we going to Barnes and Noble or something?"
"If that's what's closest."
You paused, watching his expression. There was no sign of teasing, no hint that this was a joke.
"…Really? Barnes and Noble?"
"Is that an issue?"
The disbelief must have been written on your face because Steve gave a loud laugh, throwing his head back.
"Oh, come on. I can be spontaneous!"
"Sure," you mumbled, trying not to show how happy his statement had made you. He remembered a stupid fact about you that you had told him months ago. And he had stored it, not forgotten it.
You felt like you were in the twilight zone, but you weren't complaining.
Steve bought the outfit and threw the tags away, and the two of you got back on the motorcycle. It was easier, this time, with the knowledge that he had cared enough to listen to your ramblings. Maybe he cared enough to calm it.
You had your face buried in his back, not out of fear this time, but out of comfort. You couldn’t see him smile as he sped up, but you could feel it.
At Barnes and Noble, he sat and watched as you wandered the store, a smile on his face. He didn’t say anything, didn't pressure you into talking, didn’t even try to join in; he just sat and listened as you read him the summaries of the books. You didn’t even mean to; it just kind of happened.
One moment, you were looking through the books; the next, you were reading the synopsis out loud to Steve. He didn’t say anything, didn't make any indication that he was listening, but you could tell by the way his head would turn towards you when you spoke. And once again, Steve was your personal pack mule, carrying the books that you were interested in.
By the end of the night, he had an armful of books, a satisfied smile on his face, and you were laughing. You couldn’t remember the last time you had laughed this much, the last time you had felt so happy.
When you got home, the sky was dark, and the moon was high. Steve followed you inside and set the books down on the coffee table. He had refused to let you carry them, insisting that they would get ruined in your hands. You didn't bother fighting him on it and allowed him to carry them.
"Do you want a drink or anything? Something to eat?" It was obvious you were slightly nervous now, but Steve didn’t seem the notice… or even care at this point.
"No, thank you. I should probably be getting back."
"Oh." You paused, not really wanting him to leave, but you couldn’t ask him to stay. You were friends, that was it, and nothing more. "Okay, yeah."
"Well," he started, his fingers flexing by his side. "I'll see you soon, then?"
"Yeah," you said, giving him a smile. "See you soon, Steve."
He looked like he was going to say something else before he gave you a soft smile and walked out.
Once he was gone, you shut the door and let out a sigh. Today was perfect, and you hated yourself for it. You hated yourself for enjoying yourself, hated that you were able to push away all thoughts of him. It was like the universe was taunting you, dangling the perfect guy in front of your face, and you couldn’t have him.
"Why him, huh?"
"I can still hear you." Steve's voice echoed through the house despite his absence in it, and you internally groaned as you got up to stare out the window. Damn, his super hearing.
You pulled the blinds aside and watched as Steve got on his bike, his helmet still in his hands.
"Steve."
He paused, turning his head towards the house. He couldn’t hear what you were saying now that he was by his bike, not with the closed windows, but he could see the silhouette of your body against the curtains. You lifted it up in an instant, an invitation.
"Steve.” You repeated, and this time he heard it. Loud and clear.
"Yeah?"
"Did you really mean it? That this wasn’t a pity date?"
Steve paused for a moment, his lips slightly parted. After a moment, he rested his helmet on the handlebars and made his way back to you. He stopped inches from you, slightly bending down through the window.
A smile and a simple glimpse at your lips was his only answer. He looked back in your eyes, his expression soft, waiting. He was leaving it up to you, not wanting to push, not wanting to scare. He wanted it, but he wasn’t going to force it.
It was all the incentive that you needed.
You reached through the window and grabbed his jacket, pulling him forward and crashing your lips together. It was desperate and slightly awkward since you were halfway through the window, but neither of you seemed to care.
Steve reached forward and grabbed the side of the window, pushing it open even further and lifting you through. You let out a surprised squeak, which quickly turned into a moan as he pressed you up against the house.
His lips were warm and softer than you expected. You wrapped your arms around his neck, pulling him closer and deepening the kiss.
After a few moments, Steve pulled away, his forehead resting on yours and a smile on his face.
"Okay, this wasn't a pity date."
Steve let out a laugh, the breath puffing against your face.
"Good. Glad we established that."
"What was this, then? I've been told that Captain America wasn’t one to put out on the first date."
"Oh, yeah. Definitely not. I'm a gentleman."
"Then what's this, Steve? What was today?"
His arm tightened around you, and he pressed his lips against your forehead, taking a moment to gather his thoughts.
"Like I said, I can be spontaneous."
"Spontaneous," you mumbled, letting out a laugh.
"And," he continued, pressing a kiss to the tip of your nose. "It seems good girls like a little bad every now and then. You especially, given your choice of dates."
"So, is that what this is? Captain America showing me a good time?"
"No. This is Steve Rogers showing his girl a good time."
"Your girl, huh?"
"Yeah," he murmured, his lips inches from yours. "My girl."
And when his lips met yours again, all you could think about was the leather jacket, the motorcycle, and the promise of more.
And a whole lot more bad.

Hi, I’m not sure if your requests are open at the moment, but I figured I’d try anyway!
Would you be willing to write about Stucky and their little having a day out together? Like going to the zoo, the aquarium, or perhaps go swimming? Whatever you feel like writing is fine, even it is an entirely different activity!
I absolutely adore your work, so I can’t wait to see where you will take this idea 🩷

a/n: thank you so much for your kind words! this is such a sweet request, it’s my favorite thing to just write about a fun and fluffy day😁i hope you enjoy this and that i didn’t make you wait too long😅

summary: your daddies take you on a trip to the aquarium

“Woah, woah! Slow your roll, fish patrol.”
“There’s no time, Baba! We have to go the ‘quarium!” It was almost unreal how quickly you were moving while simultaneously not getting any closer to the front door. You were running out to the car when Bucky stopped you with a grip on the back of your jacket. That didn’t stop you from jogging midair, though.
“Ah-quarium.” He plopped you onto the small bench in the entryway. “And I’m pretty sure there’s enough time for you to at least put on some shoes before we leave the house.”
Bucky kneeled in front of you so he could help you get on a pair of sneakers. He made sure to double knot the laces, knowing that you would have no patience for getting your shoes retied today.
“Dada! Are you almost ready?!” you shouted down the hall.
Steve sped walked out of your room with a backpack of stuff. “Almost! There’s a lot to pack for a full day out of the house.”
You whined and tried stomping your feet, forgetting that Bucky was still putting on your shoes.
“Hey, no whining and no kicking Baba,” Steve reprimanded. “We’ll get there with plenty of time to spare, baby. The fish aren’t going to swim away.”
“They might,” Bucky teased.
“Nooooo!”
“Buck, c’mon.”
Bucky grinned mischievously and gave you ticklish kisses on your face before helping you off the bench. “I’m only kidding, angel. Let’s get you in the car and buckled up while we wait for Dada.”
After what felt like a million hours, you were finally at the aquarium. Your daddies went over some safety rules while you were still in the car and once you showed that you understood, it was go time.
There were so many exhibits to discover. The tanks seemed to go on forever, all with different species of fish, snails, crabs, turtles, and other animals that you’d never seen before.
The aquarium offered something for the whole family. Still a science nerd, Bucky enjoyed reading the information cards placed by the tanks. Some of the animals and their habits reminded him so much of the aliens he read about in his sci fi novels. Steve was keeping a mental note of the animals he wanted to draw for you later. He even took pictures of a few to serve as a reference. Meanwhile, you practically had your nose pressed on the glass, just admiring the fish with an overwhelming sense of wonder.
When you saw something especially cool, you’d tug on the sleeve of your nearest daddy and point. You couldn’t just witness something so special and not share it. One of the best moments was when you pointed out a scuba diver in the large tank to your Dada. The diver noticed you and started a game of rock, paper, scissors through the glass.
One of the safety rules for the day was that you had to either wear a leash backpack or hold a daddy’s hand the whole time. In the beginning, you chose to hold hands, but then you switched to the backpack for more freedom(and because your daddies either walked too slowly or had no idea which tanks were ones to stop and stare at and which ones just needed a quick glance).
You could’ve stayed at the aquarium forever, but eventually it was time to go home. Steve and Bucky could tell you were getting sleepy. You got a little more clumsy, often getting tangled in your backpack leash, and asked them to hold you more often. Your daddies suspected that some of the requests to be carried had nothing to do with needing to see from a higher point, and much to do with your tired legs.
“This was the last tank, bubba. Now we’re going to the gift shop and then going home, okay?” Steve said.
You sighed. “Okay, Dada. Can I take a picture of the jellyfish first? Please?”
“Yes you can, baby. Good manners.” Steve held you still while you took a photo of the jellyfish tank with your camera.
As the three of you went to the gift shop, you asked Bucky to hold your camera so you could hold your hands behind Steve’s neck and place your head on his shoulder. He of course said yes. Your Baba also snapped a sneaky shot of Steve carrying sleepy little you using your camera.
You were practically already dozing off by the time you made it to the gift shop, but your daddies still went in and asked if you wanted anything to remember this trip by. You ended up leaving with a beluga whale plush, which you cuddled with the entire way home.

When I watched the new What If episode with Peggy & Nat I immediately thought of you, your art, and what your reaction would be. Especially since it was kind of a retelling of Captain America & The Winter Soldier.
What are your thoughts on the episode?
Seeing as you asked, I WILL TELL YOU MY MANY THOUGHTS. WITH PICTURES.
under the cut for length lol
First of all, as usual the animation, particularly the lighting, was incredible. Also the effects! The explosions, smoke, everything. Always blows me away how much effort and love these animators put in to What If.
I love that it's Winter Soldier based because by god do I love that movie - but I also love that it's so very different to my AU cos that means I can keep going with it lol.
Okay here we go with the highlights - Blatant flirting and showing off:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This???:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Just how in sync they were with every fight scene - even in the Battle of New York when they had only known each other for a few hours.
HEY LOVELY. LOVELY:
Tumblr media
Angst. And how soft Nat is here:
Tumblr media
"Hey, Peg. I got you."
Natasha's inability to sit in a chair properly:
Tumblr media
Peggy making a star wars reference and Nat calling her out on it like .. Nat you RECOGNIZED the reference you're a nerd too
"You know I always wondered how you got all those GI Boys to follow a woman into war: question answered." ie. "I'm so into you right now":
Tumblr media
This Natasha stabbed Dreykov to death with a corkscrew and I love her for it.
Natasha instinctively putting herself in between Peggy and Steve even though they're both twice her size
Tumblr media
I've already mentioned but, the choice to focus on Natasha's face in this scene:
Tumblr media
Nat's face here:
Tumblr media
Natasha only getting taken down by the robots because her gay-Peggy-focused-ass gets distracted when Peggy runs off to protect Steve: (I'll come back to this point later as a negative)
Tumblr media
MELINA.
Was anyone else looking to see if Yelena was there
"Let's unpack that later, shall we?"
"I don't know whether to kiss you, kill you, or dissect you." "Let me guess, all three?"
I bet the Captain Carter film was baby Nat's gay awakening lol:
Tumblr media
Melina's glorious slo-mo "grandma, it's me, anastasia" coat drop:
Tumblr media
Peggy running to save Nat T_T
These shots:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Nat wearing the same outfit from Winter Soldier:
Tumblr media
Natasha "too-loyal-and-infatuated-for-her-own-good" Romanoff going along with Peggy again to look for Steve without even being asked. (in stark contrast to the end of Winter Soldier when Natasha did not go with Steve to look for Bucky, I might add)
New reaction image:
Tumblr media
Peggy and Nat calling and reaching out to each other when the portal opens and ALMOST making it - then Natasha punching the ground in desperation T_T
Tumblr media Tumblr media
These two look SO COOL and I can't wait for the 1602 episode.
Tumblr media
Negative points:
Rehashing Ste/ggy all over again - we already HAD that and it was endgame, why do it again?
As much as I adore Natasha's intense loyalty, it's very one sided in this episode and I'm wondering if that's intentional. Peggy is hyperfocused on Steve and leaves Nat behind to run after him multiple times, even though he is in an entire suit of armor and is FINE and Natasha is the one actually getting injured. Then she's leaving at the end without saying goodbye to go find Steve again (despite there being no reason to think he's alive? he EXPLODED??) even though Natasha just went through a trauma too and shouldn't be abandoned. Kinda feels like Peggy is taking Natasha's always being there for granted and I really hope it's addressed in following episodes (though I doubt it will be - it'll just be Steve focused again -_- )
Okay I think I'm done. This was a LOT I'm not sorry I've been waiting for more content for SO LONG I can't wait for the rest of the episodes to rip my heart out and stomp on it :3

¡leclerc-s speaks! if i hadn’t mentioned this character before that’s because he was literally made up like last week. i also just love danny ramirez and i had to include him somehow. this entire series is just me putting together all my interests in one. also my love for pato, i love him so much. i have too many stories and don't have time to update them all so i just create more to ignore the bigger issue.
¡disclaimer! this is in no way making assumptions about the people involved in this story, this is all fake. it is a fanfiction please don't take any of what is said seriously. this is all for entertainment purposes and as a creative outlet for me. enjoy!

Tumblr media
Summary:  After being deployed for 8 months, you return home to surprise your family.
Warning: Alternative Universe - No modern setting, fluff and angst, reader is the military and Natasha is a military wife, mention of violence/death, no usage of Y/n
Word count: 2.3k
‘The girls made sure to pick out loads of snacks for you and the crew. So make sure you share. There is something for your eyes only so please keep that to yourself. I countdown the days until you are home. All my love.’ You smiled as you reread the letter from your wife two more times. For the past 5 months, you survived on these letters and short phone calls from your family back home. You loved serving your country, it was the greatest honor but a wife and two kids at home made it harder to leave. “Is that from the misses?” Clint asked. You took the other envelope out before he took the box from you.
“Of course it is,” Maria said, joining Clint as he dug through the box. She chose a small can of Pringles. “Look at that smile.” You rolled your eyes, used to the teasing from them.
“Is this for us to share?’ Bucky asked, walking up behind you and grabbing the envelope in your hand.
“Hands to yourself, Barnes,” you said, placing the envelope in your pants pocket for later. “We all can’t be lucky enough to serve with our partner.”
“Ain’t lucky for us,” Maria mumbled, throwing a package of nerds to you. “Especially when you walk in on them.” Bucky’s ears turned pink but he shrugged his shoulders. He took a bag of trail mix. This was one of the reasons you hated the thought of retiring. You found a family amongst the men and women you served with. You were part of an elite group of soldiers that the US government sent in for Black Op missions. Under the command of Nick Fury, the team consisted of you, Maria Hill, Clint Barton, Bucky Barnes, and Steve Rogers. They were your brothers and sister but you could not wait to be home.
*
‘Everyone loved the snacks you picked out for them. I’m pretty sure they ate more of them than me. I told a local jewelry maker about you and the girls and how much you mean to me. So she made me three moon necklaces and a sun for me. She said it symbolizes that even though we aren’t together physically I’m always with you and you are with me. Similar to how the moon and sun can’t exist without each other, I’m not me without you. I can’t wait to be home with my girls. All my love.’ Natasha finished your letter. She wanted to reread it but Rose and Hailey were excitedly waiting for her to put the necklaces on. So she did. Once the clasp was in place, they kissed her on the cheek and ran outside to join the other kids. It was a spring day and the Romanoff house was filled with people, food, and laughter. Natasha sighed, stood up, and walked into the kitchen. Laura was there, cutting up a watermelon. “How was the letter?” She asked.
“It was nice hearing from her,” she held up her necklace. “Mind putting this on for me?” Laura nodded, taking the necklace and looking over the charm.
“It’s beautiful,” she said, placing it around Natasha’s neck. Laugher pulled the two mothers to look out of the kitchen window and out into the backyard. They watched as Cooper picked up Rose from behind and threw her into the pool. It was moments like this that Natasha wished you were home to witness them in person and not as a video or photo. Natasha would always support you and she knew you were doing great things but she missed you. Each deployment never got any easier. Laura sighed, putting the freshly cut watermelon into a bowl.
“It never gets easier, does it?” Natasha asked, looking at her friend.
“No,” Laura whispered. “I’m afraid it doesn’t.”
*
The party was over and the house was quiet. When it was quiet, it was hard for Natasha to mask how much she missed you and your absence affected her. She sat in bed with a photo album in her lap. She seemed to get sentimental whenever you sent a letter. Natasha worked at a gym as a personal trainer and Clint, who was a mutual friend, recommended you to try it out. As the story goes and a fact you liked to remind Natasha, she hated you. She thought you were cocky, arrogant, and annoying. But you were persistent and determined to break down Natasha’s walls. It worked and she was grateful you were patient and understanding. She grew up in the foster care system, bouncing between homes. Now she had everything she dreamt of as a kid; a wife that loved her, beautiful girls, and a house filled with love.
The bedroom door slowly opened and saw Rose and Hailey holding onto their stuffed animals. “What’s wrong, printsessy (princesses)?” Natasha asked, noticing their blotchy cheeks from their tears.
“We miss Mom,” Rose whispered. “Can we sleep in here?” Natasha smiled, placing the photo album on the nightstand.
“Come here,” she held open her arms as the twins climbed onto the bed and settled in on either side of her. Now that they were closer, Natasha saw it was the Build-A-Bears you got for them with a recorded message for their birthday.
“When will she be home?” Rose asked.
“Soon, moya lyubov' (my love),” Natasha kissed her head. The real answer was 4 more months.
“Do you think she’ll bring us another gift?” Hailey asked. It made Rose laugh so Natasha let the comment slide.
“I bet she will. Now let’s get some sleep.” The girls climbed underneath the covers and cuddled up against Natasha. “I love you, my sweets.”
“Love you too, mama.”
*
“Thank you for picking me up,” you said to Wanda. “I wanted to surprise Nat.”
“It’s no problem,” she smiled. “I almost had a heart attack when your name popped up on my phone.” You chuckled. You were home 2 months early. Usually, Natasha would be waiting for you at the airport with the girls and the signs they made. Instead, you called Wanda, your next-door neighbor. She and her husband, Vision, had twins of their own. Vision was in the military as well but was stationed locally in the cyber division. “Do you want me to record it?” Wanda asked. “I do love those military reunion videos on YouTube. They make me cry every time.
“That would be great,” you cried watching those videos as well. But right now you were focused on not throwing up all over Wanda’s car. Your leg was bouncing, you were so nervous.
“Hey,” Wanda said, pulling down the familiar neighborhood street. “It’s okay. She and the girls missed you.”
“I think I’m gonna throw up.” You admitted.
“Well don’t do that,” she deadpanned. “I just got the car detailed.” Her joke caused a momentary break in your anxiety and you laughed.
“Thank you for that,” you said as she parked the car in the driveway. You looked at your home. The driveway was covered in artwork from the girls and the plants had newly planted plants, that you knew Melina helped Natasha. Your wife did not have a green thumb. You got out of the car with your duffle bag over your shoulder. Wanda was right behind you as you rang the doorbell. You shifted on the balls of your feet as you waited. You’ve been pinned down by enemy fire, watched a van blow up right next to you, and had to administer first aid to save a falling soldier. But as you waited for the door to open, you were so nervous, terrified. Finally, the door opened and there she was, dressed in her typical workout outfit - black leggings and an oversized graphic T-shirt. Her red hair was pulled back in a high ponytail. “Hi,” you whispered.
*
Natasha had to be dreaming, right? There were 2 more months left of your deployment so why were you standing in front of her? With no sign of injury and wearing your off-duty uniform. You were here. You smiled, chuckling. “I haven’t seen you this shell-shocked since the day I asked you to marry me.” You teased her. Your small jab pulled her out of her trance. She dropped her pre-work bottle to the ground and ran over to you. You dropped your duffle bag to the ground and caught her in your arms. The force made you stumble slightly but you stayed on your feet. “Your home,” she mumbled against your neck. Her voice shook with emotion.
“I’m home, baby,” you said. “I’m home.”
*
“Rose and Hailey Romanoff,” the camp counselor called into the small gym. “Your mom is here to pick you up.” Her name made Hailey look towards the door and the small pause got her out of the small dodgeball game.
“You're out Romanoff!” Eric called out.
“That doesn’t even count,” Hailey said, walking over to the sideline where Rose was sitting. “I was distracted.” Rose giggled.
“You're so competitive for no reason,” she teased her sister. Hailey rolled her eyes. “Do you think we have a doctor’s appointment?” Hailey shook her head as the followed the counselor out of the gym and down the hallway of the school.
“Mom is usually good at reminding us. Maybe babushka (grandma) and dedushka (grandpa) came for a surprise visit.” Hailey loved her grandparents especially when she convinced Alexei to wrestle with her. Rose smiled.
“Or maybe Auntie Yelena came with Fanny and Lucky.”
“What about Aunt Kate or do you like Lucky more than her?” Hailey joked, watching her sister blush.
“You know that’s not-” The words died on her lips as they rounded the corner.
“What’s wrong?” Hailey looked away from her sister to the normal check-in and check-out area, expecting to see Natasha but no. She saw you.
“Mom!” They cried out, breaking out into a full sprint towards you. You knelt as they collided with you.
*
‘My girls,’ you thought as you hugged them. They looked so much like Natasha, fiery red hair and Rose had your eye color. Their heart was beating so fast, mimicking the speed of a hummingbird’s wings. You felt their tears on your neck. You looked over their shoulders and saw Natasha, tears in her green eyes. But she refused to let them fall. “What are you doing here?” Rose asked.
“Finished the mission early,” you said, pushing tears off her face.
“Did-did you beat the bad guys?” Hailey asked, refusing to get out of your arms. You didn’t mind, you’d hold them forever.
“Of course, I did, sweetheart,” you kissed her head. “Come on, let's go home.” You groaned as Hailey still refused to let go.
“Actually,” she said. “Can we get ice cream?”
*
“Are you watching the videos again?” You looked away from your phone and saw Natasha stepping out of the bathroom, wearing an old training shirt of yours and sleeping shorts. You placed your phone on the nightstand.
“You know if we post those videos with sad music,” you sat at the edge of your bed, parting your legs so Natasha could stand between them. “We could go viral.”
“Oh really?” She questioned. You hummed, kissing her stomach through the cotton shirt, and rested your hands on the back of her thighs. Natasha used her pointer finger underneath your chin and forced you to look up at her. She traced the slope of your nose and the bags underneath your eyes.
“Were you telling Hailey the truth when you said you stopped the bad guys?” You grabbed her hand and kissed her palm.
“We did,” you whispered. You never spoke about what you did overseas. Some of the missions were classified and you didn’t want to haunt the dreams of your family. “But some civilians didn’t make it.” She nodded, kissing your forehead and leaving her lips there. You closed your eyes, enjoying the feeling of her lips. “How long do we have until the girls come in?” She smirked.
“Not long enough so get your mind out of the gutter,” you pouted as she turned off the main light and you got into bed. “They’ll be at camp tomorrow and I’ll be all yours.” She said, settling in next to you and resting her head on your chest. You tightly wrapped your arms around her.
“I’ve missed this,” you whispered, taking a deep breath in her vanilla lotion. You felt her tears stain your shirt but you didn’t draw attention to them. You let her cry until you heard her quiet sniffles. It was your turn to lift her chin with your finger. “Do you want me to retire?” You asked. Her green eyes widened, a little red from her tears.
“You're too good at what you do,” she whispered. She was right in a way. You were an excellent marksman, hostage negotiator, and interrogator. But someone could replace you. Fury always had soldiers in mind to join the team. “You’ve saved so many people.”
“But I’m missing so much here,” you said against her lips. “I would need to do one more and I can be done with full benefits.”
“Okay,” she said, fully connecting your lips. You loved kissing Natasha. Her lips were soft and warm against yours.
“Okay,” you said. “I love you.”
“Love you more.”
*
When you woke up, Rose and Hailey were cuddled between you and Natasha. They were holding the Build-A-Bear stuffed animals you got them. You smiled, kissing both of their foreheads. Serving this country wasn’t worth missing. Your girls were your world. You needed to be home not across the sea in another country. “Mommy,” Rose mumbled.
“What’s up, baby?” She turned around to face you. Her eyes were barely open.
“I don’t want you to leave again,” she said, cuddling up against you. You closed your eyes, feeling tears swell.
“I know. One more,” you promised. “One more then I’m done.”

summary: dinner with the Avengers gets unexpectedly cut short
Tumblr media
“Uh… Mr. Corpus, sir?” Peter looks up from where he’s working on his homework, watching as you swirl his LEGOS in the air. They click into place, quickly forming some version of the Titanic but the colors are off. They release from their form and swirl in the air again as you look at him, your fingers held in a cupping motion. He looks away for a second, fiddling with his pencil. “Do you know what happened on July 14th, 1789?”
“Storming of the Bastille,” You answer without thinking too much about it. “Very important moment in the French Revolution; Bastille was a prison that many aristocrats preferred to go to because it was a very… relaxed prison. Almost a thousand people surrounded the prisons, cannons, and gunpowder ready. They were afraid the King was going to arrest the new National Assembly. They were also wanting to fortify the prison, crime was horrid those days.” As you speak, Peter writes it down. He has no use for fact-checking you, you’re the Avengers history nerd.
“Thank you,” He smiled and flipped to the next page. You nod, returning to your LEGOS and recreating the prison. It spins around and you look into the box of loose legos, using random pieces to create canons around it.
Living with the Avengers was far from the plan you had set in your head when you finally broke away from your family. You didn’t want nor need a team of people to boss you around again but this was the easiest way to ensure the world was safe. At the top of the world, nothing was hidden.
At least to you.
You look at the other Avengers who’d found themselves a spot in the common area, blissfully unaware of the truth. They think they know it all, there’s nothing they don’t know. Anything and everything that happens on Earth— they’ll know it. And they’ll stop it.
God, they were so fucking wrong.
Sinking into your seat, your eyes drift off to the woods that surround the compound. They’re smaller but denser than the forest you’re used to back home, which reminds you that you ought to visit soon. It’s been almost a year since you’ve last been there and you’re sure you’re being missed day and night.
And you miss it, too, of course. The dreams cannot replace reality.
“Hey, Chronicle,” Tony calls and you look over to him. He lifts his cup to point towards the TV and you see you’re up for the next match of Mortal Kombat. Pulling yourself to sit next to Sam, you take the controller from Natasha and pick your character. Sam picks his and the round begins, you end up winning but that’s almost entirely due to the fact that for some odd reason, Sam could not have a steady grip on his controller.
“He always cheats!” Sam points to you as you hand the controller to Tony. “Nah- nah, get the power blockers! I want a rematch!” He demands but everyone knows that for some stupid reason, it doesn’t work on you.
“It’s okay, butterfingers,” You tell him, patting his shoulder as you return to your spot creating LEGOS. “I know you're getting all hot and bothered around me.” Sam closes his eyes, telling Bucky that he’s about to send you away and you offer an amused smile.
The place settles down after that, you end up losing in the game because you had a long-standing promise with Bucky that you wouldn’t use your powers on him unless it was necessary. Some type of PTSD you didn’t care to dive into. All that mattered was that Bucky absolutely murked your character and Sam was cheering the entire time.
Dinner rolls around and you agree to make something quick, but with how much everyone eats even a quick meal takes an hour with how much needs to be made. Thankfully, the kitchen has four ovens for that exact reason. Seven lasagna and garlic breads later, dinner is served and everyone is eating around a table.
Thor, Steve, Bucky, and Peter each got their own pans. Although, Thor needed another and you’re glad you made seven because the remaining two were just enough for the rest of you with normal appetites.
Midway through your slice, you feel a certain tug in your mind and smile, doing your best to not look away from your food. It’s a tug you’ve grown to love and adore, and it’s more than welcome to invade your mind.
What’re you eatin’ tonight? Druig asked, his soft voice mulling over the voices around you.
Lasagna, the recipe I showed you. You answer, grabbing your cup of juice to hide your smile. You?
Soup. He replies. Arishem, I miss your cooking. You laugh, although you manage to keep it silent.
I’m planning my next return, just have to make sure there’s nothing coming up here.
Good, I cannot go another month without you, my love.
Neither can I. You look up, seeing everyone is looking at you. One moment, darling. Like a phone call, you put the connection on hold and clear your throat.
“Sorry, what did you say?” You ask, setting your cup down.
“Peter was asking for the recipe,” Wanda says, offering the kid a smile when you look at him.
“Oh, yeah, sure,” You nod. “Remind me later.” He nods and everyone slowly goes back to their conversations and you take Druig off of hold.
You have to stop letting your mind wander. He teases and you roll your eyes, finishing up the last of your food.
Only to thoughts of you. You reply and he makes an ohh sound. Not in that way. You add, leaving the table with a simple see you later.
One amazing thing about the compound is the fucking dishwasher, it’s honestly a lifesaver.
I do not need a dishwasher. Druig says as you close the door to the washer.
You don’t have electricity, you cannot have one. He takes the reminder with a grain of salt and your conversation continues well into the night. Eventually, he falls asleep and you allow yourself to as well.
One thing you absolutely dread about living with the others is the fact that whenever someone who’s not Tony or Peter is there, they insist on working out at the crack of dawn.
You’re awake at four in the morning, several hours before you normally do, and have only managed to get two hours of sleep so you’re more than annoyed when Thor makes an announcement over every single speaker in the house.
Begrudgingly, you get prepared for the workout and join Sam for the pre-workout smoothie. He makes the best ones, Steve just eats it dry and Bucky cannot make it taste good for the life of him. The others don’t take any before their workouts so it’s just the four of you drinking (and eating scoops of protein powder) before you head up to the gym.
Workouts with the Avengers last for hours, although Tony taps out two hours in, Peter had to get ready for school, and Clint wanted to finally go home soon after. Sam is the next to go, he’s beyond tired three hours in and chooses to watch everyone instead.
You’re on your ass as Natasha flips you over, the wind knocks out your chest as you land on the padding. She stands over you, her weapon tossed to the ground and you twitch your fingers. It flies through the air and knocks her backward as you pull yourself up.
“Cheater,” She teases as you twirl her stick in the air with a shrug. “Mama never taught you to play nice with friends?” Dropping the stick into your hands, you swing and she ducks. This continues for a while until you have her pinned down— albeit using your powers but it was getting a little tiring using your arms.
Training ends with five laps around the compound— which only Thor, Steve, and Bucky actually completed. You gave up after two and Natasha got through three and a half. You were many things, a try hard was not one of them.
Cleaning up, you head to the common area to find something to watch.
There’s a lot to which, with Tony having every single streaming service possible, but you eventually settle on some show Peter had recommended.
“Dinner is ready!” Tony calls and for the first time since you started the show, you look away from the screen. It’s dark outside and you were well into the show… that's a little embarrassing. “C’mon, Matilda!” He calls when you’re not moving fast enough.
“Shut up, white man,” You grumble, pausing the show and heading to the others. Peter is back for the weekend but Clint stayed with his family.
Dinner is a large order of pizza, boxes piled up on the table and the super eaters take theirs before everyone else takes their slices. Tonight you’re able to engage with them completely uninterrupted and come to think of it, you’d gone the entire day without talking to Druig.
You couldn’t feel him in your mind, either. Normally there’s a small feeling when you focus, letting you know he was there but today he wasn’t.
Sighing, you decide not to dwell on it just yet. He’s gone through periods where he doesn’t want to talk before, the longest being a week. You’d give him two days before you stole a jet to go and see him.
“Unknown subjects approaching the compound,” FRIDAY says midway through dinner. “Unknown mass in the air approaching at rapid speeds, engage?” He’s basically buzzing to use the systems defense system.
“Describe the mass,” Tony says, afraid FRIDAY is alerting them of another bird. It’s happened at least six times already.
“A large black triangle with unknown carvings on it, approaching in approximately five seconds,” FRIDAY says and you take that time to think about it. It sounds familiar and as you’re rushing out with the others to find out what the fuck it is,  it clicks. The Domo.
“Holy shit!” Peter gasps when he sees the Domo hovering above the field in front of the compound. There’s a couple flashes of light and you rush over to where they’re going to be landing while the others remain a good distance away. You’re glad for their sake that they aren’t a shoot-first ask-questions-later type of group.
“(Y/n), do not engage!” Tony shouts, stopping the others from going after you. You ignore him, stopping exactly two steps ahead of where you know they will land in a couple of seconds. The others are calling for you to get back— Sam is sure it’s some type of alien and he tells Bucky he’s always right about the people they have to fight. You tune them out, watching as the light shoots down completely from the Domo and as it falls to the ground.
Druig is the first to land and wastes no time in his arms wrapping around your waist and you hold his face. He looks at you with these puppy dog eyes, a smile creeping up on his face and you dip your head down.
Kissing him, one of his hands grabs the back of your neck, deepening it. You move one of your hands down to his belt loops and hold him. He laughs into the kiss but neither of you pulls away. You hear a gag but it’s clearly from Sprite so you ignore it.
“I didn’t need to see that!” Sprite groans as she lands. “They’re worse than you and Dane.” She tells Sersi as you pull away from the kiss. But just slightly, you can still feel his lips on yours and you carefully rub his cheek.
“Hello, beautiful,” He mutters against your lips.
“Hey,” You mutter back, going in for another kiss but Phastos pulls the two of you away.
“Dude!” You whine as he holds your collar and drags you across the lawn until you’re more than an arm's distance from Druig. “Let me kiss my fuckin’ husband!” Druig smiles and you wink, finally getting put back on your feet.
“Did he say, husband?” Natasha whispers to Tony who blankly nods.
“You can kiss when we’re done here,” Ikaris says, floating down from the Domo.
“You’re not the only one who can fly, asshole,” You tease, rising to his level. “But yeah; whatever. Why're all— most of you here?” You correct yourself, seeing that Ajak and Gilgamesh aren’t with the others.
“Aren’t you and Gilg a package dead?” You ask Thena and that seems to be the wrong question to as everyone looks sad. Lowering yourself to the ground, you look between everyone. “What’s going on?” You slowly ask, looking at Druig as he walks up to you.
“Ajak and Gilgamesh are dead,” He says as he holds your hand. “Killed by deviants; they're back.” He softly adds.
“There’s some more stuff,” Sersi steps forward, her hand on Thena’s shoulder. “We’ll explain everything in the Domo but we need to go now.”
“Now— like, right this second now?” You ask and she nods. Looking at your team, you sigh and look back to the others. “Give me a second.” They nod and you rush over to the others.
“I’ll be back, I just— I’ll explain when I get back.” You tell them, giving everyone a once over. “Um… yeah, see you!”
“No way,” Tony says as he grabs your arm before you can go too far. “You aren’t just up and leaving like that! Where are you going? Who are they?”
“We’re on a bit of a time crunch!” Kingo shouts and you sigh, apologizing to Tony before removing his hand with your powers.
“I’ll explain when I get back, I promise!”
Sitting on the beach, you look over at Druig who’s already looking at you rather than the very large golden hand sticking out from the sea.
“I should’ve stayed with you,” You whisper, a frown forming on your face. “If I hadn’t been with the Avengers Gilgamesh would be alive, I could’ve stopped Ikarus long before this became such an issue.” Looking back to the water, you rest your head on his shoulder.
“Don't think like tha’,” Druig replies in the same whisper, brushing hair from your face. “You were doin’ your best, you joined that stupid team to help people. No one could’ve seen this comin’, darlin.” He wraps his arm around you and lays his head on top of yours. He glances at your red and gold suit, tracing the shapes that he’s traced for centuries before as the waves roll in.
You stare at the crashing waves, your eyes drifting to and from the head and hand every so often. There are so many thoughts running through your mind. You’ve lost three friends, you look at Sprite and while the others might be able to forgive her you can’t.
Sure, she looks like a child but she was… born at the same time everyone else was. She grew as everyone else grew, despite how it looked from the outside. You can’t look past the betrayal, no matter the reason.
Then there’s Kingo, who you weren’t too sure about either. You’d always fought, no matter how dire the situation seemed. You fought and you fought together. And he ran. It left a bitter taste in your mouth.
“I can still hear your thoughts,” Druig whispers. “Mind if I change those thoughts?” You hum, and move your head from his shoulder. His head moves back before it moves forward, his lips finding a home between yours. They’re dry, but you don’t doubt yours are either. And probably taste of sand just as his taste like volcanic ash. He smiles, glad your mind has drifted to other topics and you pull him on top of you.
“Do not fuck on the beach,” Phastos grumbles. You pull away and tilt your head back to grin at him. Druig doesn’t pay him much mind, letting his eyes and hands wander your body. Although that’s probably to just annoy Phastos even more.
“You’re such a cockblock, y’know that right?” He rolls his eyes and joins the others several yards away.
“We should head back, though.” You tell Druig, squeezing his arms. He looks at your face, and you stare at his blue eyes. God, they’re really fucking blue.
“They’ve always been blue,” His lips quirked into a smile and you shove his face away from you before bringing the two of you to your feet.
“I know you want to go to space and like… save the others out there…” You start as the two of you walk back to the group.
“But you don’t?” He finishes and you sigh. “Can I ask why?”
“I like it here,” You shrug. “I’ve built a life and I get to play with LEGOS and cheat during game night…”
“You’re afraid of space.”
“I’m afraid of space.” You concede and he lets out a small laugh before his face softens.
“We don’t have to go anywhere, darling. Right here is perfect.”

You were walking through the Avengers Compound, looking for Bucky to visit him at work. You frowned when you couldn’t find him. You heard voices when you got closer to the lounge room. You stopped before you got to the door and listened for a moment.
“Theres no such thing as witches.” Bucky says.
“I have to agree with Bucky.” Steve says.
“What about Doctor Strange?” Sam says.
“He’s a sorcerer.” Bucky says, squinting his eyes at him.
“A sorcerer without a hat!” Sam argues.
“Oh my god.” Bucky sighs. “Who are you gonna fight now? Gandolf?” He says.
“Wait, how do you know about Gandolf?” Sam asks.
“I read the Hobbit in 1937 when it first came out.” Bucky says.
“So you guys see my point?” Sam says.
“No we don’t.” Bucky says.
That’s when you walked in the room and their attention was on you. Bucky smiles and approaches you.
“Hey, doll.” Bucky kisses your lips. “What are you doing here?” He asks.
“I wanted to visit my handsome superhero boyfriend at work.” You smiled up at him. “By the way, is all you three talk about is Harry Potter when I’m not around?” You asked.
“How much did you hear?” He asks.
“Just enough to know that my 106 year old boyfriend is a nerd.” You giggled.
Sam bursted out laughing and Steve bit his bottom lip to keep himself from laughing.
“I don’t know why you two are laughing. You guys are nerds too.” You say making Bucky laugh.
You knew exactly what you’re going to get Bucky for Christmas now. The next day, you went to the nearest bookstore after Bucky left for work. You looked around the bookstore, looking for the books you’re getting Bucky.
“Is there something I can help you find?” An employee asks.
“Actually yes. I’m trying to find the Harry Potter books for my boyfriend. You say.
“They’re in the corner to the right. They’ll be on one of the middle shelves.” She smiles, pointing you in the right direction.
“Thank you.” You smiled.
“You’re welcome. Let me know if you need anything else.” She says before walking away.
You walked in the direction she pointed you in and looked through the middle shelves. You smiled when you finally found what you were looking for. You picked up the set of books from the shelf and went to checkout.
“Did you find everything you were looking for?” The cashier asks.
“Yes I did.” You say with a smile.
She scans the books and tells you the total. You paid and made your way to your favorite coffee shop to get something to drink before going home. When you got home, you were walking to yours and Bucky’s bedroom to wrap his Christmas present without noticing that Bucky was home.
“You’re not going to give me a hug and a kiss, doll?” Bucky says.
You yelped and quickly turned around, holding your hand over your chest.
“Bucky! When did you get home?” You asked.
“Like 15 minutes ago. I texted you saying that I was able to get off of work early so we can spend some time together.” He explains. “What’s in the bag?” He asks, reaching for it.
“That’s a surprise!” You move your hand further away. “You have to wait until Christmas.” You say, walking away.
Bucky tilted his head back and playfully groaned making you giggle. You went to the bedroom and locked the door behind you so Bucky didn’t try to come in and see you wrapping his present. You found some red and white striped wrapping paper and wrapped it with ease, topping it off with a silver bow. You put a tag on it saying “To Bucky my love, love your doll”. You sat there for a moment, debating on whether or not to give it to Bucky or wait until Christmas. “It wouldn’t hurt to give him an early Christmas present, right? Screw it.” You thought to yourself. You quickly cleaned up the little mess you made and grabbed the present, walking to the living room with it behind your back and sat down on the couch next to Bucky.
“I have something for you.” You say, handing him his present.
“What is it?” Bucky asks.
“Just open it and you’ll find out.” You say.
Bucky tore the wrapping paper off and a smile grew on his face.
“Do you like it?” You asked nervously.
“Like it? Doll, I love it!” He says, kissing your cheek.
“I’m happy that you love it.” You say with a smile.
“I haven’t read these since 1937.” He says, looking at the books.
“Maybe you can read one of them to me if you want.” You suggested.
“I’d like that.” Bucky says softly.
You cuddled yourself into Bucky’s side as he opened the book. About halfway through the book, Bucky noticed that you had fallen asleep. He bookmarked the page by folding the top corner. He picked you up bridal style and carried you to the bedroom, gently laying you on the bed and covered you up. Bucky got in bed next to you, pulling you to his side and wrapped his arms around you.
“Goodnight, doll. I love you.” Bucky says softly and kissed the top of your head.
“Goodnight, Bucky. I love you too.” You say sleepily.

It’s been one of your favourite places to go for the last few weeks—the small and cozy library that was nestled relatively in secret that not many people knew about it. And that was probably for the better because you felt right at home wandering the almost empty rows of shelves which held endless stories for you to get lost in.
Once you had found a couple of books, you would sit and read on the sofa that's been dubbed as yours in the best and secluded area of the library. No one interrupted you as you sat with a cozy book and a warm drink in hand, except, of course, every once in a few hours, an exceptional someone would check up on you—the extremely hot librarian, and you didn't mind at all for his interruptions.
Along with the books and intimate environment, he was another reason for you to return regularly. You honestly couldn't believe that such a hot and kind man existed. And that he was a huge book nerd like yourself was the cherry on top. He was so dreamy, your absolute dream man, and luckily, you and he had become close the last few weeks, very close.
You were currently rereading one of your favourite books—getting so lost in the cherished story that hours passed without you even knowing. That was until you were reminded that it was late and closing time.
“Hey, doll.”
You gasped as you got pulled out from the book that you'd been so focused on. Looking up from the page, you saw him resting against a bookshelf—arms crossed over his chest and a tantalizing smirk curved on his lips. He looked so snug and beautiful with his warm sweater hugging his broad torso and glasses framing his handsome face.
“Oh, hey, Bucky,” you smiled at him.
“It's late.”
You looked out of the window to find that nightfall had covered the city, and you hadn't even noticed.
“Yeah, it is.”
“And, uh, there's no one here.”
You perked up your ears to listen for any sounds, but it was dead quiet in the library.
“So,” you closed the book, “we’re all alone here? Just you and me?” You smirked at him as you tossed it to the side.
“Uh-huh,” he smirked as he walked closer to where you were sitting and took off his glasses—anticipating where this scenario was heading.
“Well then.” You got to your feet, and you both stared at each other for a few seconds before closing the gap between you two—lips finding one another and molding together as you kissed your needs away. His hands held your hips in a delicate grip while you fisted your fingers in his long hair.
He pulled you with him to the sofa and laid down with you on top of him—never breaking the kiss or his rousing touch on you.
“I want you to sit on my face,” he muttered between kisses.
“W-what?”
You pushed on his chest to break the kiss and looked down at him which furrowed eyebrows.
“Sit on my face, babydoll.”
“I-I-”
“Shhh,” he caressed your cheek, “don't think, baby, just do. I need you on top of me. I need it so bad, please.”
Although his request left you quite flustered, the way he was smiling so charmingly at you, along with his encouraging begs, had you put your insecurities to the side and do as he wanted.
“O-ok, Bucky.”
Once your pants and underwear were off, you scooted further up until you were situated just where he wanted, with your thighs on each side of his head and dripping cunt right on top of his face. He held a firm grasp on your hips as he moaned at the sight of you.
“Surrounded by my two favourite things, books and you, babydoll,” he groaned before he nuzzled his face in your pussy, licking from your opening to your clit, flicking the tip of his tongue on the sensitive nerve, making you moan softly at his action.
You thought he would eat you out, but instead, he decided to be a tease and kiss and lick everywhere but your needy cunt, making you whine out in protest.
“Please, Bucky,” you sweetly begged as you started to move your hips, hoping it would entice him to put his heavenly mouth on you.
Finally, after your convincing begs, he wrapped his lips around your sensitive nub, altering between licking and sucking, making you moan and whimper at the instant pleasure. The added sensation of his scruff on your skin made you clench your thighs around his head.
One of your hands tangled in his hair while the other rested on the back of the sofa. The pull on his locks made him groan against your core. The vibrations had delicious tingles flow up your spine, making you shiver on top of him and lose your balance, despite Bucky keeping you upright with his muscular arms. You collapsed forward, resting your forearms on the armrest as he continued to eat you out.
His lips released your clit to lick up your gushing slickness, moaning at the taste of you. “You taste so good, babydoll.”
Once again, the delicious vibration had you weak and trembling as your eyes shut tight to revel in the pleasure. Moans, whimpers and pleas of his name went on like a broken loop as you started grinding on his face, wanting more.
Bucky held you still as he returned to his assaults on your swollen and throbbing clit that was in need of being sucked and stimulated.
“F-fuck, just like that, Bucky. Feels so good,” you mewled in pleasure.
You wouldn't last much longer. Not when Bucky took great advantage of the angle and exposure of your dripping cunt on his face, putting his expert skills on you.
You sobbed and convulsed as you came on his face, seeing stars in your eyes. The orgasm intense as he continued to suck your throbbing clit through your high.
Bucky was a kind man, so he tried his best to prolong your pleasure as he licked and kissed your abused clit and dripping slit while you came down.
Once you were fully satisfied, he pressed sweet and comforting kisses on your inner thighs while you pet his hair to show your appreciation.
He helped you sit upright and held your hips as you were still very unsteady. His breath fanned your core, making you needy for more.
“You know, I've wanted to do that for the longest time, doll.” He smiled up at you, making you all flustered.
“T-that was really g-good. I, um, c-can you do t-that—”
“Again?” He finished with a satisfying smirk on his lips. “I'll continue on for as long as you want, babydoll.”

You're beginning to question why Bucky won't sleep with you, but you ask the wrong person
Pairing: Biker!Bucky and Bug (+Brother’s best friend Bucky, Plus sized fem reader) (Steve is reader’s adopted brother) CW: Friend’s calling each other “bitch”, references to sexual acts
“I don’t know if I should call you a stupid bitch, a dirty bitch, or a lucky bitch.” Cilla, the platonic love of your life, stares at you from the passenger seat of your car. “Straight out the gate and he’s already hitting it raw, I guess I’ll go with all three you stupid, dirty, lucky, beautiful” she tacks on the end to soften the blow, “Bitch.” Stupid was probably fair, dirty was a compliment, and lucky was factual so you let the comment ride without protest. There was one thing that was bothering you about her statement though, “I don’t think it’s fair to say he hi-”
“Bitch,” She cuts you off, “be so fucking for real.”
“He turned you into his own twinkie- cream filled.” The voice comes from the backseat where McKenna, the third member of your friendship trio is devouring a nerds filled grape slush. Cilla groans in disgust at the bad joke while you pull a face in the rearview mirror, refusing to break eye contact with the man until he cracks first, slowly lowering his plastic spoon back into the sticky purple treat; “I, uh, I really regret saying that.” “Good! That was fucking weird, and now we all have to live with it. Sit in your shame.” Despite your admonishing tone there’s no real upset behind you words as you carry on;
“But as I was SAYING, it was just the tip so I don’t- like it doesn’t feel like that counts. Don’t get me wrong, it was amazing, I just…” The silence sits heavy in your ears but you can’t find it in yourself to continue, suddenly embarrassed despite being in the presence of the two people you’ve trusted with damn near every dirty little secret you possess; why hadn’t it progressed past that?
“Fuck it! Who wants to lose their virginity on a Monday, anyway?” McKenna’s outburst breaks the silence and blessedly removes the spotlight from you, “Yeah,” you acquiescent with a half-hearted chuckle, “you’re probably right.” The conversation moves on quickly enough, though the thought is persistent in your mind- why hadn’t it progressed past that?
Hours later, McKenna returned home to his husband, sun dropped beyond the horizon, you pull to a stop outside of Cilla’s house, the dark-haired woman making no move to exit the vehicle; “How are you actually feeling about it?” There’s clearly only one situation she could be referencing but in truth you’re not sure how to answer. She was the first call you’d made after coming down from your chocolate-brownie-hell-high, after Bucky finally showed back up in the aftermath, after dates one through four, and especially after five, she’d heard details even McKenna hadn’t, every salacious little tidbit. But you hesitate now, a bond forged in college deadlines, all nighters, stress induced coffee comas, movie marathons and evening walks had blossomed into a beautiful friendship with two main tenets; you burn I burn, and no bullshit. You knew she would listen and take it all in without judgment, but part of you hesitated, worried that her honest take, because she would be incredibly honest, wasn’t something you were ready to hear.
“I’m confused,” You finally settle on. She doesn’t offer acknowledgement besides a small hum, no pushing, no rushing. “Everything has felt so good.” At that Cilla does let out a little snort, raising her eyebrows suggestively, though makes no other move to interrupt; “I wasn’t actually talking about that, though he does make me feel amazing. I just mean…Bucky’s been in my life since I was pre-pubescent, he may actually be what jump started puberty for me,” Cilla’s eyes roll at your joke as you pause again to gather your thoughts. “He was this larger-than-life presence, cocksure, the muscle to Steve’s mouth and I just- oh my god I was so in love with him. I’m sure there’s still notebooks floating around where I waxed poetic about his eyes, wrote Mrs. James Buchanan Barnes over and over again in the margins…”
You peter off before taking a steadying breath, suddenly thirteen again and trailing along behind Steve and Bucky, the latter of which was the epicenter of every girlish daydream you had. “He had this girlfriend when we were in High School, Dot? I was so fucking jealous of her, she had everything I wanted because she had him. I know Bucky cared about me, in some way, but it wasn’t the same as he cared about her and it broke my heart.”  You can still picture her; pretty red curls, shy smile, hand wrapped in Bucky’s anytime he was within arms reach.
“Once he enlisted, once there was some space between us, I realized there was a lot of naivety I needed to tear through-” You hesitate, fearing the explanation will be muddy but push on anyway, “like, the love I felt was real- but I also built it up a lot in my head? In a way I think it was probably unfair to him, projections from a kid who was newly navigating the difference between romantic and platonic love, but everything just felt so big and all encompassing.”
“He was your first love.”
“He was,” You nod in agreement, picturing  Bucky at fifteen, knuckles bloody, Steve behind him with a bruised eye and busted lip, the body of your latest would-be-bully crumpled on the floor, “but that’s not- that’s not how he felt about me.The romantic love, or infatuation, or whatever- it was one sided, very obviously so. I used to wish it was different, dream of a day where he’d drop Dot’s hand and reach for mine but then I realized-” You squeeze your eyes shut, thankful for Cilla allowing you to set the pace of the conversation as you ruminate over the relationship, “I realized after he’d left how shitty that was, just because he wasn’t in love with me didn’t mean he didn’t care, what we did have wasn’t a consolation prize.”
Your friend rests her hand gently on your forearm, nodding her understanding; “Life went on, he and Steve were deployed, I was in school, they came home, they joined the club, he dated other girls, I dated…But I never really got over that feeling of first love, it just- deepened?” You nodded your head at that, happy enough with the explanation, “It sprouted new roots, more substantial ones, I fell in love with him all over again, a different version of him in a way.”
You were getting to the part you didn’t want to say, the part that worried you most, “Like I said what we had wasn’t a consolation prize, Bucky’s always been one of the best people in my life, even when I probably annoyed the hell out of him. I’d made peace with knowing that how we felt about each other didn’t line up and then, well…”
“Then he showed up on your doorstep with flowers begging for a date?”
“He showed up with flowers after I accosted him with my feelings.”
“Don’t forget the FINALLY.” She prods you pointedly at that, having been driven half mad over your analytical obsession with the word, when I FINALLY fuck you, “he clearly had thought about it, and he even said that’s not all he wanted, don’t go where I think you’re about to go.”
“Where am I about to go?” You ask her.
“Questioning his intentions, whether he really likes you, wants to be with you…HE asked YOU out, that means something. Just because y'all aren’t having sex doesn’t take away from everything else.”
Everything else. Cilla was right of course, it’s not like Bucky was running around acting disinterested; he brought you flowers, took you on dates, kept you fed, ran errands with you just for some extra time together, gave you mind blowing orgasms, made you laugh. But then why…
“But then why won’t he sleep with me? He clearly cares about me, thinks about me, but why not- his body count is high, why not one more?” You deliver the last line like a joke, but no part of it feels funny. “I know he cares about me, truly I do. But I guess I just worry- like he’s cared about me since we were kids, so maybe he doesn’t want to sleep with me because he’s figuring out that romance isn’t what he really wants between us and that’d be harder to walk back having-”
“Don’t,” Cilla cuts you off, “do that.” You look at her a bit helplessly as she pushes on, “Has he actually given you any indication he doesn’t want to date you? Aside from not sticking it in?”
It was crude but she had a point, and you knew Bucky, knew he wasn’t one to string people along.
“No.”
“Exactly, it’s just dick, don’t let it ruin something special.”
“I just- I’m all in, so why is he holding back?”
“It’s still a new relationship-”
“I’ve known him forever-”
“But not like this. This is new. He may not be exactly where you’re at but clearly he has feelings for you. My advice would be to hop out of your head and just enjoy things as they progress.”
You nod once in acknowledgement, still not quite ready to move on from the topic;  “Should I just ask him why?”
Cilla mulls it over for a minute, “I… wouldn’t, not yet. Give it some time.”
Time, right.
But you couldn't help the worry that persisted, what would Bucky be figuring out in that time?

As Bucky circled the shop for the umpteenth time, he felt like the worst boyfriend alive. Valentine's Day was almost here and he had no idea what to get you. Even though you assured him that he didn't have to get you anything, he refused to turn up at your place empty-handed. He also knew he wanted your gift to be something special, especially since it was the first holiday the two of you were celebrating together as a couple.
Why is this so difficult?
He knew well enough that you didn't want anything extravagant, like an over the top fancy dinner. The traditional route of flowers and chocolate didn't sound like a bad idea, but any guy could do that for you. What could he do to make it unforgettable? How could he make this Valentine's Day stand out?
"You're overthinking again, aren't you?" Steve asked.
"Steve, this is hopeless and I'm not overthinking," Bucky replied into the phone as his friend chuckled. "Okay, maybe a little, but why can't I figure this out?"
"Because you're overthinking."
"Like you didn't overthink with your gift," he argued.
"We're not talking about me. We're talking about you," Steve said.
"I used to be good with women," Bucky sighed.
"You still are, otherwise you wouldn't be in a relationship."
Fair.
"The jury is still out on whether she made the right choice by choosing me as her man," he said.
"She's good for you and you know it," he said.
Steve was happy that Bucky started dating you. God knows he had to hear enough about you before you got together. It was only fair since he got to hear all about his writer girlfriend. He wondered when his best friend would pop the question.
Hopefully soon.
"So you really don't have any ideas?" Steve asked.
Bucky stopped in front of one of the displays where a few other guys stood. "No, but she did jokingly request no jewelry."
"Well, she does make jewelry," Steve teased.
A small smile touched his lips. You put so much thought and care into every piece you made. As nice as it was to maybe get you more tools and supplies, he could do that any day of the week. It wasn't romantic enough.
"Buck, I can practically hear you overthinking again," Steve sighed.
"Because I'm stuck!" he said, wincing once he realized he raised his voice and ignoring some of the funny looks he got. "I just want it to be special, you know?"
"Then get her something from the heart."
"That's your advice?" he scoffed as he walked away from the jewelry. "This is for the beautiful woman who made me personalized dog tags. I'm just an old science nerd who likes to read and…"
Bucky trailed off as he stopped at another display. The answer was so simple. Why hadn't he thought of it sooner?
"You figured it out, didn't you?"
"I did," he answered, smiling as he looked back at the jewelry. "And I may have even come up with a new holiday tradition."
Tumblr media
"That's it. I can't eat another bite," you said, dropping your fork on your plate and rubbing your stomach. "You've outdone yourself."
Bucky's cheeks warmed as he smiled. He expected to be nervous tonight, but he felt good. Confident. It was nice to be comfortable in his skin.
He knew he wouldn't feel that way every day, but your smiling face made a huge difference.
"You helped me make the meal," he reminded you, reaching over to brush the corner of your mouth with his thumb. "But keep stroking my ego. I like it."
You grabbed his wrist before he could pull his hand away and teasingly nibbled the tip of his thumb. "Play your cards right and I'll stroke something else, Jamie."
This woman might be the death of me. What a way to go.
"So, you're telling me you want dessert," he smirked, purposely deepening his voice and licking his bottom lip.
You inhaled sharply as you released his wrist. Even though the two of you decided not to go out to dinner, he dressed nicely for you. The short dress you picked even matched the color of his top.
Proof that we fit together.
"I very much want dessert," you said, leaning forward on the table to give him a generous view of your chest. Was it impolite to stare? "I also want to give you your gift before we watch a movie."
Homemade meal, gifts, and a movie. It was the perfect, low-key evening. As long as you liked what he picked out for you.
If you hate it, I'm blaming Steve for the advice he gave me.
After clearing the table, because no way in hell was he making you clean, he joined you in the living room. The blanket and pillows were already set up on the couch and he wondered how far you two would make it through the film. Would you prefer for him to be a gentleman or an animal?
Maybe a bit of both.
"Since I didn't have your gift ready in December, I think it's only fair that you open your gift first," he said, setting the box on the coffee table.
"If you insist," you smiled.
The confidence Bucky felt earlier began to slip away as you examined the box and began to unwrap it. Maybe he should've picked prettier wrapping paper, even though it was going to end up in the trash. No, he had no reason to be nervous. You were going to love your gift.
I hope.
"Oh, my God," you gasped, smiling as you lifted up your present and looked it over.
The flower inside the glass case was unique and beautiful. The gold leaves shined as you spun it in your hand, along with the rainbow colored petals. The additional LED lights would bring an extra layer of brightness to your gift.
"I did some research after I saw a Beauty and the Beast display at a shop. It's called a galaxy rose. I know flowers are traditional for Valentine's Day, but I wanted something that would last," he explained, wiping his palm on his pants as you lifted the gift from the carton. When did he start sweating? "So I got you a rose that will never fade away."
Is that romantic or lame?
"It's perfect," you said, your eyes shining as you set it down and shifted on the cushion to face him completely. He let out a breath as you placed your hand on his cheek. The happiness that radiated from you was worth every moment he agonized over your gift. "I love it."
"I know it isn't the Beauty and the Beast rose, but it'll do," he smiled, placing his hand over yours.
"I'm clearly the Beast since I would gift you with a library if I could," you giggled.
We can build a library together.
"You're Beauty and you know it," he smiled, reaching into his pocket. "But there's still one more thing."
"There's more?" you asked as he pulled his hand out of his pocket and opened his fist.
In the palm of his hand sat a heart shaped rose quartz with the word "heart" etched in the middle.
"The science nerd in me and the jeweler in you. I mean, I'm not a geologist, but I thought this was fitting," he said, placing the stone in your hand. "You said you wanted to start new traditions. And for every holiday I spend with you, I want to give you a new stone with a new word. Something small, but meaningful for both of us."
Something from my heart.
Your eyes watered as you closed your hand around the quartz and for a moment you didn't speak.
God, you hate it. So much for new traditions.
"Jamie," you sniffled as a tear slid down your cheek. You opened your mouth to speak again, but instead pressed your lips against his. Heat rushed through him as he tenderly returned the kiss. "Thank you for making tonight so special. I won't forget it."
Mission success.
"The night isn't over yet," he whispered, unable to resist teasing you with his next statement. "I still have my gift to open."
You giggled, the quartz still in your hand as you pulled him back in for another kiss.
Best Valentine's Day ever.

MODERN OBI-WAN KENOBI BOYF HC
I haven’t ever done a head cannon post but with how busy / lazy I’ve been I might post more of these, they’re a lot of fun. probably one for Bucky and Luke skywalker. If you want any other characters just lmk! Make sure to check my request post!
warning: nsfw content (labeled so if you want to skip you totally can)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
tea guy, like, it’s crazy. has so many drawers full of boxes and bags. always making you tea to fit whatever mood you’re in
landscaper or teacher, or both. I imagine him teaching younger kids but probably wishes to be a professor of some sort, maybe teaching environmental science.
just really likes plants and flowers but sometimes gets tired of having to craft and trim everything to be perfect so he thoroughly enjoys natural nature and the “overgrown’ aesthetic
Adding onto that, loves to hike, always takes you with and nerds out about the scenery and views.
definitely fosters dogs from the local shelter and takes them on hikes to help leash train them.
unintentionally a pretentious little prick
circle lens glasses and turtle neck combo 24/7
And of course you steal his sweaters ALL THE TIME
Smells like citrus, grass and rain. the warm sun rays and vanilla
Always watching some documentary, or the history channel.
All your friends lowkey want him because he’s. That Guy.
Whenever he blushes it goes straight to his nose, ears and neck.
Frequent at most coffee shops in town so when he started to bring you around it was a big deal for the workers lol, so much gossip. And mild disappointment from the staff knowing obi wan was official taken
Probably hates small talk, finds it tedious and shallow
The most supportive boyfriend in the world, he’s always the first person there to cheer you on
When you started dating him, his cousin/best friend, Anakin, came as a packaged deal. The younger one frequently trailing behind obi wan and now, as you’ve got too closer, you as he’s become a younger brother figure to you.
Not jealous at all, he’s very secure in your relationship and his trust in you is crazy strong. finds it quite amusing when men hit on you in front of him and kinda just lets you play it out.
That is unless you become uncomfortable, he mostly lets you stand up for yourself but if it becomes overbearing he definitely won’t hesitate to cause a small scene.
A big runner and boxer, you’re used to having to help his knuckles heal up from long sessions. As well as joining him on early morning runs if he can get you up and out of bed for it.
He loves art and mostly drew and painted landscapes but after meeting you this sketch book began to fill of pictures of you from every angle possible.
So naturally put together all the time it makes you insecure sometimes
Obviously, obi wan is the best at easing those insecurities. He always notices when you’re feeling off, sometimes even before yourself, so quick to embrace you and whisper exactly what you need to hear.
Another thing, so good with his words??? He always tell you what you need to hear, there’s rarely ever any miscommunication between the two of you because of this and even when they’re are, arguments are not common.
Crazy sarcastic, will say the funniest shit ever with the most monotone face and it just makes it 100% times funnier.
Really likes Taylor swift and David Bowie
Always getting you bouquets of flowers, even arranges them himself sometimes.
“This reminded me of you.”
Such a safe and non-judgemental aura, you’d struggle with asking for help or learning new / seemingly ‘common sense’ things with past relationships in fear of seeming dumb but you feel so safe around obi-wan that those thoughts never cross your mind, always learning new things from him and enjoying how helpful and supportive he is.
Definitely an impala driver, either 40s Chevy impala or the very sleek and fancy 2020 impala premier, probably black and rarely dirty
Not the biggest cuddler in the world but really enjoys naps together, will drape an arm over you but he tends to move around in his sleep so he’s just content with sleeping besides you rather than wrapping limbs
But when he is in the mood to cuddle, it’s mostly on the couch when you decides to binge shitty reality television. He’s usually on his back and you’re laying ontop of his stomach with your ear to his chest
You two constantly binge dating reality shows, always criticizing the other couple and mostly men LOL.
“He did not just say that! Maker, you would have broke up with me then and there.” “Damn right I would.”
You trace all the moles and freckles along his body, obi wan definitely had a skin care routine and moisturizes so I imagine his skin is always so soft
NSFW!
really likes nudes, like the grainy MacBook camera pictures with a matching cute set type nudes (iykyk). Hot and slightly artistic, his favorite.
Doesn’t like porn though, never enjoyed it and it never really got him off, doesn’t like the morals of it either
Also sexting, not his thing. He’s usually more on the serious end when it comes to intimacy but he cannot take sexting seriously LMAOO
lowkey the type to come home from a long day of work and look you in the eye with That Look and you just know what he needs
Thigh guy, the type to take breaks from eating you out by just resting his head fully on your inner thigh and just gaze up at you
Sir / master kink
Will jokingly come up behind you when you’re in the kitchen or something and press his groin to your behind
Just a little tease overall, always doing shit like that and acting all innocent about it
VERY VERY vocal during sex (cough, cough, shallow graves ending scene, COUGH)

Banner By: The absolutely amazing @mrsbuckybarnes1917
Taglist: (Please let me know if you’d like to be added!) @blackhawkfanatic
The next evening, you were making your way back to your suite after a productive, albeit exhausting, day in your lab. You were working on a crisis prediction real-time monitoring system to anticipate global threats. You were convinced it would allow the Avengers to respond to trouble faster, but perfecting the privacy algorithm had been an absolute pain in the ass, and you still hadn't gotten it quite right. Technically, you could have farmed the project off to a subordinate; hell, even a team of subordinates of a subordinate, but this was one of your pet projects and you insisted on being hands-on in its development.
You had your tablet open as you walked, chewing on your thumb and reviewing the dataset from the run of your latest algorithm model one more time. Closer, but not good enough. If you were going to convince Tony that this was a program worth implementing, especially at its projected cost, everything had to be perfect. "Damn it," you muttered to yourself.
You rounded the corner and ran smack into Bucky's chest, dropping your tablet and causing him to drop the three books he'd been holding under his remaining arm. "Oh, shit-- I'm so sorry," you uttered as you bent down to retrieve the dropped items. Bucky leaned down to assist you, but you waved him off.
"’S my fault; I've got it," you told him, piling up his books for him. "I wasn't paying attention to where I was going. I didn't hurt you, did I?"
Bucky leaned up against the wall and chuckled while you stood up and handed the books back to him. "I doubt you could hurt me," he said, smiling softly. "No offense."
You let out a small laugh. "None taken." He was a super soldier, after all. Stealing a glance at book spines, you couldn't suppress the smile that crossed your face. "Lord of the Rings," you nodded appreciatively. "Have you read them before?"
Bucky looked down at the books tucked under his arm. "No, first time. I read The Hobbit back when it was first published in '37, but these didn't come out until after..." he trailed off, but you knew what he meant. After he'd been abducted and brainwashed, turned into a murderer.
You nodded in understanding. "I'm actually really excited for you," you told him. "What I wouldn't give to be able to read them again for the first time."
"You a Tolkien fan, then?" he asked you. When you nodded, he continued: "When I finish them, maybe we can talk about them sometime? Steve's not really into fantasy."
"Yeah, I'd like that," you said. "If you're interested, we could watch the movies. I'll warn you though; they're long as hell, but their masterpieces. I mean, they didn't need to turn The Hobbit into three separate films, but still, they'll blow your fucking mind."
Bucky ran his tongue over his lower lip and you couldn't help but follow the motion with your eyes. "That sounds like fun," he said, his eyes twinkling with... something. "Your place or mine?" Was he… flirting with you?
"How 'bout you finish the books first, then we'll talk logistics," you teased. "Hey, speaking of, what floor did they end up putting you on?"
"Um, this one, actually," he said, tilting his head toward a nearby door.
"No shit," you remarked, laughingly. "You must have done something to piss Rogers off, because he put you right across the hall from me."
Bucky looked down, scuffing the toe of his boot against the carpeting. "He said it was the quietest floor, thought I'd prefer that."
You pursed your lips, considering. "Yeah, that makes sense; it's just been me on this level for ages. It'll be nice to have some company for a change."
Bucky looked surprised. "Stark's kept you down here all by your lonesome? That doesn't seem very nice."
You shook your head and dismissed his concern with a wave. "Oh, no-- Tony hates that I still live down here, actually. He put in all new living quarters a few years back. Everyone migrated upstairs, but I was the only one who didn't want to move."
"Why's that?" Bucky asked, appearing genuinely interested.
"I've lived here since I graduated college," you admitted, "back when it was still just Stark Tower. When Tony relocated here from Malibu to rebrand it for the Avengers, he wanted to redo everything, which meant fancy new suites for everybody. But I love my rooms, so I asked to stay put. They've been my home for so long now and I guess I just like the stability, you know?"
Bucky nodded thoughtfully. "And Tony thinks highly enough of you that he let the blow to his ego slide?"
You raised an eyebrow. "Maybe I have enough dirt on him that he felt like he didn't have much of a choice." You snorted, not able to keep up the pretense. "No, but seriously, I know you and Tony have a complicated... history, but he's not a bad guy. Ego as tall as this Tower, yes, definitely, but he's also incredibly kind and generous. He paid for my entire college education-- undergrad, post-grad, doctorate. I owe everything I have to him."
Bucky shifted against the wall. "That is pretty generous. And he never expected anything from you in return?" He didn't say the words out loud, but the implication was there. Had you slept with Tony in exchange for your diplomas? The innuendo should have bothered you, but it had been posed to you so many times over the years, you'd stopped being offended by it. Before Pepper, Tony had had quite the  reputation, after all, and an MIT education didn’t exactly come cheap. Most people couldn’t understand why he would offer a full ride to someone who, at the time, had been a complete stranger.
"Tony appreciates talent," you clarified. "When he finds it, he cultivates it, nourishes it, does everything he can to help it grow to its fullest potential. But he does like to get a return on his investments, and my skills have helped him make a lot of money." You shrugged your shoulders with a chuckle. "I love my job, I love the work we do, I love the stupid weirdo family we've built here, so I've always considered meeting Tony to be the best thing that ever happened to me. He's kind of like my own fairy godfather."
"So, what exactly does he have you do around here?" Bucky asked. "I know Steve said you did computer stuff, but you said it was an over-simplification."
You ran a hand up to rub the back of your neck while you considered your answer. How best to explain your position to someone who was born before the invention of the television? "Okay," you exhaled, "so, short answer is that I'm the CTO, the Chief Technology Officer, of Stark Industries and, under that, I run the Avenger’s Technology and Innovation Department. It's sort of our take on Research and Development. I've got a lab where I'm in charge of about 450 scientists, engineers, computer programmers, analysts, et. cetera. And our entire job is coming up with cool new ways of making things easier for the Avengers. Like, new features for suits, developing useful programs, coming up with new defenses and weapons, that kind of thing. And if we've got missions that require heavy computer- or tech-work, I come along for on-site support. I'm combat-trained and good with languages, so that comes in handy in the field. There’s probably a ton of field agents that could go in my place, but for Tony, it’s a matter of trust."
Bucky let out a low, appreciative whistle. "Damn. That's impressive. You're a little intimidating, you know that?"
Laughing, you tucked your tablet under your arm. "Please. I'm about as intimidating as a hamster." You paused to think. "Maybe a hamster with rabies, but still a hamster."
A series of beeps emanated from your tablet. As you pulled it out to check the alert, Bucky moved away from the wall. "I'm so sorry-- you were heading back to your room and I've basically been holding you hostage this entire time."
"Actually," you said, silencing the notification alarm that had distracted you, "That was just a reminder I set for myself to eat. Sometimes I lose track of time in the lab and completely forget to have dinner. Are you hungry? You could join me."
Bucky pulled his head back, regarding you as though he wasn't sure if you were serious.
"Or, if you don't want to, that's cool," you said quickly once you noticed his hesitation. "I mean, you wanted a quiet floor. Annoying neighbor is probably the last--"
"I'd love to," interrupted Bucky with a grin. "I'm just surprised someone like you would want to spend time with someone like me."
"Someone like me? Hey now, for all you know, I could be an absolute trash person," you teased, playfully punching him on the shoulder.
Bucky chuckled, his eyes sparkling with a newfound warmth. "Well, I highly doubt that, but I guess I'll find out soon enough."
"Don't say I didn't warn you when you do." You cocked your head toward the door to your room. "I'm going to change out of my work clothes. While I do, how about you decide what you're in the mood for, and we'll go from there. That sound good?" Bucky nodded as you let yourself into your room. The evening had taken an unexpected turn, but you found you were looking forward to spending more time in the company of Bucky Barnes.

Bucky was mad-no, he was seething as he paced back and forth in your home office. It was in the wee hours of the morning when his private jet had landed on the local airstrip. Within that same hour, Sam had personally escorted in the little nerd responsible for a good third of the turmoil going on in Bucky’s head: Jake.
Sam had taken the liberty of pre-binding his hands and duct taping his mouth shut. Bucky was going to enjoy ripping the goatee straight off his mousy little face.
Tumblr media
Five hours ago
As soon as Steve had gotten off the phone with Bucky, he called the construction crew. They kept them on call for things like this, but the two of them never thought the stakes would be this high. It wasn’t often that someone important and non-expendable was put in this type of danger, let alone someone Bucky cared about. As he was finishing up the call and directing them towards your house, Sam reached out to him with a sticky note.
On it was a name and the address to an apartment in the city, along with Sam’s scrawled ‘pick her up on your way over.’ Steve nodded as he hung up his call and placed another, grabbing the duffel bag he kept packed by the door and heading out.
Tumblr media
Three Hours Later
Bucky hadn’t left your side since the rocks collapsed. Luckily, the two of you had been able to find a small gap in the rocks where you both sat. It wasn’t large enough to keep air circulating, but it was big enough to at least allow the two of you to talk with each other. You and Bucky had shared so much, from him sharing his first business operation with Steve, to you detailing crazy college stories of when you, your roommate, and Curtis would hang out.
Bucky laughed along. There was a whole side of you he never knew. He had studied intently what showed up on paper, and he knew the hardships you’d faced from your deep conversation last week, but this? This was a whole new, more playful side. He was surprised to see your spirits so high despite the situation.
“I do not believe that one bit. No way you were climbing up clock towers at school just to steal the clock hands, or a random brick or whatever. You’re too straight-laced.”
You laughed and rolled your eyes as you leaned your head back against the stone wall. “Oh please, people already pay so much to go there, if anything, I had more than the right to do it. Our money pays for that stuff. Technically we owned it. Not the school.”
Bucky snorted. “You didn’t even pay tuition. Didn’t they pay you to go there?”
“That’s besides the point, Bucket. Fight the man. And anyway, if you think I’m straight laced, you should meet my roommate.”
Bucky grimaced. “Yeah, about that. She’s on her way here right now.”
Your ears perked up. “Decks is on the way? Oh, that’s good. She’ll be super helpful. She’s so organized, although, I can’t imagine she took well to whoever had to interrupt her beauty sleep. Who’s the poor guy?”
Bucky sharply inhaled. “Steve.”
“Oooo hooo hoo.” You laughed. “That’ll be a fun one for both of them. They’re either gonna love or hate each other. What are all the rest of the ETAs?”
Bucky looked at his watch. Well, really, he had been checking his watch this whole time to monitor his pulse, which was over 100 consistently since the tunnel buckled. He was shaking with concern for you, but kept his voice level to keep you calm, a trick he and Steve had worked tirelessly to master. “Ummm… looks like the construction crew should be here within the hour. And I’ll bet Decks and Steve will be pulling up any minute.”
You hummed in acknowledgment. “Anyone else coming that I should know about? So I can figure out where they’ll best fit around the farm? Decks is great with the animals.”
You hadn’t heard all of Bucky’s or Curtis’s phone calls earlier since they stepped out of the cave to make them with better reception. Bucky didn’t want you to know Jake was on the way, mostly because he knew you’d make him promise not to hurt the rat, and he didn’t want to have to make that promise with the high likelihood it would be broken. He decided a better move would be to change the subject.
“So where did the nickname ‘Decks’ come from anyway?”
“Oh! Well it’s actually-“
Bucky heard footsteps near the mouth of the mine. He did his best to politely cut you off. “Wait, Honey, I’m so sorry, quiet for one second.”
He sat there and silently listened, the rustling becoming closer and clearer until he identified it as hooves clopping gently against the soft ground. He heard Curtis’s voice say something vaguely before he moved to get his feet underneath him and brush off his pants.
“I think Curtis is here with Steve and Decks. I don’t want anyone else to come in, just in case it’s still too unstable. Can you tell me exactly what you need them to do?”
You nodded, even though you knew Bucky couldn’t see it and began to lay out the instructions. Decks and Steve weren’t here to clean out the tunnels, they were here to help keep the farm running until you were freed, and no one knew how long that would take. It was best to keep only those who could be closely trusted around until this was all figured out. God forbid the authorities come knocking, or worse yet, Cole. Bucky held onto your every word before briefly leaving the tunnel to relay the information.
Tumblr media
Bucky returned to you shortly after instructing Curtis to take Steve and Decks back to the house so they could rest before their long day tomorrow. Everything needed to run as smoothly as possible to not raise suspicion from your absence, which they were going to claim was due to a corn crop farmer’s conference out in Iowa if anyone asked.
After another hour with you, Bucky let you know the construction company arrived and was starting to stabilize the ceiling so they could dig you out. “I’ve gotta go deal with some business, so I’ll be back soon. Plus, I can’t get in the way of these vehicles. But say the word to one of the crew and I’ll be back here in a minute flat. I promise.”
Bucky’s promises meant a lot. That was something you had learned in your conversations. He never said something unless he had a plan to deliver. A man’s word was everything in his line of work.
“Okay, I’m going to hold you to that!” You yelled back.
Bucky chuckled. “I’m going to send Sam back here as soon as he arrives. He’ll keep you company.” And with that, Bucky made his way back to the house.
Tumblr media
So this is where Bucky found himself, walking back and forth menacingly behind Jake, who had been tied down to the guest chair in your office. Jake’s eyes shifted back and forth with nervousness as he tried and failed to hold back whimpers and near-hyperventilating breaths.
Bucky had been silent for only ten minutes. He liked the way it made them squirm. He could sit and stare all day, completely unbothered, as anyone he interrogated slowly lost their mind. Of course, there were other, more fun ways, to get information, but he wouldn’t dare mark up your home. He’d never let the one they called ‘The Winter Soldier’ be unleashed in your sanctuary. This is the closest he would ever get, though, and it would never be seen by you.
Bucky stalked around Jake and crouched in front of him. “A milk maid came in here and told me that you’d given him information about this farm. Care to share?”
Jake shook his head vigorously and whined through the duct tape over his mouth. Bucky leaned in closer. What was more terrifying than being yelled at by him? Bucky with an alarmingly level voice.
“Sorry, I couldn’t quite catch that. I can help you talk a little better, but you’ve gotta be quiet. There are people upstairs sleeping, and I can’t guarantee they’ll be as nice as me if you wake them. Promise to be good?”
Jake nodded carefully and slowly. Bucky reached for the tape at the corner of Jake’s mouth and ripped it off quickly. Jake’s head lurched forward, his mouth open with a silent scream between gasping breaths. Bucky examined the sticky side of the tape. There was no hair on it. The steam from Jake’s mouth must’ve reduced the stickiness just enough that it didn’t cause damage. Shame.
Bucky slammed his hands over Jake’s on the armrests of the chair. “Tell me everything.” He gritted out between clenched teeth.
Jake giggled uncomfortably. “Uh….there’s not really much to know, mister…sir….does this have to do with Peach? I thought she owned this farm now. Where is she?”
Bucky growled. “That’s not important right now, but yes, this is about this farm. Tell me everything you told the guy with the soft hands and the jackets that were too crisp to indicate a day of work in his whole life.”
Bucky had no intention to associate that with his own designer crisp suits that he wore everyday back in the city. That was different, it was a totally separate line of work, plus, he wasn’t trying to pose as something that he’s not when he wore them. Anyway, he’s not the one on trial here.
“Oh! You mean Cole? Fucking prick.” Jake mumbled looking down and to the side. “I can promise whatever he said to you was a lie. That guy’s always been awful. He hides a demon face behind his handsomeness.”
Bucky didn’t want to be on Jake’s side, but he couldn’t argue with that. But to keep him talking, Bucky leaned in closer, moving his hand towards the knife on his belt loop. Jake flinched and raised his hands in surrender as much as he could with his wrists tied down.
“Okay, okay, I promise I didn’t say much. At least not on purpose. I was at an investors party up in San Francisco when Cole bumped into me. He was bragging about how he had just inherited his parents’ company and it was way bigger than when we were in high school. Frankly, I didn’t care, I make an effort to forget about a lot from back then, mostly him, so I tried to disprove him by saying that there are still nice little farms around despite his family’s efforts. I told him I still had my mom buy me honey that Peach makes, herself.” He hung his head in shame.
Bucky huffed as he leaned back against your desk and crossed his arms. “Well, way to go. You know, they painted you to be some genius, but you’re an absolute idiot.”
Jake looked up and scrunched his nose. “Well I actually prefer the term loser, bu-“
Bucky raised his hand to stop Jake from talking. “I really don’t care. What matters is that you’ve made a mess for Honeybee that inconveniences all of us. I’ve gotta be the one to work on cleaning this up while she’s otherwise occupied.”
Jake cocked his head to the side and furrowed his brow in confusion. “Who the fuck is ‘Honeybee?’ Are we talking about the same person?”
Bucky sighed and wiped a hand over his face, stopping with it covering his mouth. He looked at the helpless man in front of him. How had you ever dated this guy? If he used to be great, what on Earth happened to him? “God, you’re slow to catch on. Yes, it’s the same person, but I don’t think the sweet peach you used to know and love is in there anymore. Not after you abandoned her. And especially not after you gave up her operation on a silver platter to Cole.”
Jake swallowed as he caught on. He had seen the devious glint in Cole’s eye when they had run into each other, but just thought it was a product of Cole’s braggadocious success. Not his complete hunger for domination. Despite the way Jake left, he still cared for you. He didn’t want to see the thing you loved taken away, especially by the guy who caused him so much grief. The guy your family defended him from on so many occasions. He felt awful. You’d taken care of Jake when he was around, but when the opportunity came for him to do the same for you, he failed.
Tears began to well up in his eyes. “I’m so sorry. Whatever I can do to help, I will, please, misterrrr…….”
Bucky’s shoulders pushed back in arrogance. Jake squealed all the information he had and didn’t even know the name of the man interrogating him. That wouldn’t do, especially if Bucky wanted to eventually release Jake back out into the wild once this was all over. He made a mental note to have someone coach Jake on how to not give up sensitive intel so easily. But for now, Bucky would take advantage of the ease of informational access.
“Barnes. You get to call me Barnes.”
“Ooh! So like a cool nickname only I get to use? I feel so special.”
Bucky chuckled dryly at that. Jake really was clueless. “No. Not at all like that.” Bucky leaned forward, elbows on his knees as his face inched closer to Jake’s.
“Now tell me everything you know about the mines.”
Jake’s eyebrows raised. “Oh? Those old things? Yeah, Peach and I used to make out in the-“
Bucky waved his hand again as he closed his eyes, unable to look at Jake for another second. “No. Skip that part. What else?” He quickly said, dismissively.
“I know they’re old? Like crazy old and probably prone to collapse at this point. But Pe- I mean, your Honeybee does some occasional civil engineering contracting work. She could probably easily whip up a plan to reinforce them.”
Bucky looked at Jake more intently. He liked the way Jake said his Honeybee, but he couldn’t let that distract him right now. And anyway, you were very much your own person. Far from his. If anything, he was yours. He knew about all your business endeavors, but not those kinds of specifics. “Keep talking.”
“Yeah, I kept up with her after school-well, more like I asked my mom to keep up with her. Apparently she’s like, designed bridges for town and stuff. Why? What’s going on with the mines?”
“That’s not technically your business.” Bucky stood there, debating on his next move.
Jake’s eyes lit up as he gasped loudly. “Oh my gosh. Is she in trouble!? Did she get hurt in a mine!?”
Bucky slapped his hand over Jake’s mouth and whisper yelled at him. “What did I say about keeping it down?”
Jake winced and whispered back. “Sorry. Does Curtis know?”
Bucky nodded. “Yes. And he’s upstairs sleeping. Don’t. Poke. The Bear.”
Jake nodded again. He was being so compliant, Bucky figured he could let a few more details slip. Maybe Jake was a little smarter than Bucky gave him credit for. “She’s trapped in one of the smaller caves. I’ve already got a construction crew digging her out.”
“Wait wait wait. You guys have a proper plan for this, right? You’ve gotta put supports in first and then calculate the load-bearing rocks. You can’t just go willy-nilly digging or it could get worse.” Man, based off that language, Bucky had no doubt Jake truly did grow up around you.
“Good observation, Jakey. That’s where you come in. I know I could’ve just called you if I wanted to know what you told Cole, but I needed you in person to know how serious I am. Grab your little computer and we’ll get going so you can run the calculations while Honeybee talks you through them. You can still ride a horse, right?”
Jake moved to get up, only to be stopped by the restraints. Bucky turned around from the door, voice dripping with fake sympathy. “Oh, that’s right, my bad. I’ll get you untied and then we can go.”
Tumblr media
Sam was talking with you about where to put which construction vehicles when he heard hooves make their way to the entrance. Bucky dismounted the back of a horse holding a laptop, followed by Jake who was riding ahead of him on that same horse.
“Not a word of this, Samuel.” Bucky growled lowly into Sam’s ear with clenched teeth. “I’ve already threatened the kid with the same.”
Bucky still had no idea how to ride a horse on his own, but would never admit that, so he was actually extremely grateful that Jake could take the reins. Sam had taken the other horse to get to you, leaving only one back at the house for him and Jake to use.
Bucky handed Jake the laptop and patted him on the back harshly, making it more of a shove. This led him to the small hole where you and Sam had just been talking.
Bucky followed at a quicker pace, reaching the area just before Jake could and held his arm out in front of the blond to bar him from going any farther. “Hi Honey, it’s me. I brought you a little present to help out, I hope you’re not mad. It’s your old friend Jacob from high school. Say hi.”
“Jake? Like… Jensen?” You responded, trying to look through the small hole unsuccessfully.
“Yeah, Peach, it’s me. I’m here to get you out. A-and Mr. Barnes wants you to know he’s been nothing but kind to me.” Jake clutched his laptop firmly to his chest, leaning over to be heard better through the small opening.
Bucky gave a stern nod to Jake for already responding well to his coaching on the way over here. Jake sat down by the hole where Bucky had sat before and got to work.
“Okay, Bee. Like I told you before, you say the word and I’ll be here in a minute. You can time me.”
“Where are you going?” He could hear the slight worry in your voice.
“To run a farm. And by that, I mean listen to Curtis.”
You giggled. “Okay, Bucket. See you soon.”
He looked back and smiled before turning towards Sam and pointing into his chest. “You tell me the second she’s close to getting out. I’ll be there.”
Sam nodded. “Sure thing, boss. Need help getting back up on your horse?”
Bucky was already turned away and heading back to your house. He waved a hand dismissively. “No. I’m walking.”
Sam chuckled as he watched the mob boss trudge away. He knew something had shifted in Bucky’s feelings. And he definitely had his suspicions that Bucky couldn’t ride a horse.
Tumblr media
When Bucky returned to your house, he didn’t go upstairs. He feared the creaking of the steps would wake Decks, Curtis, and Steve. Plus, he knew he wasn’t going to sleep. Why would he when there was so much to do to help you? He would just get in the way at the mines, so he went into your office. He pulled out the files and article you had planned to show him the previous night regarding Cole from the kitchen, and as he sat down in your chair, he saw a contract with a familiar watermark. Shit.
Fuck. Shit. Bitch.
The letterhead was from ‘Turners Farm Corporation,’ which he had expected, but the associated law firm was ‘Hansen & Co.’ Bucky had his fair share of law firms in his back pocket, but this was not one of them. In fact, it was quite the opposite.
Lloyd Hansen was something of Bucky’s rival in the city. He was an unhinged lunatic. Where Bucky ran things with honor, poise, and calculated movements, Lloyd was messy, unpredictable, and reckless. He’d been trying to make multiple steps into Bucky’s territory, geographically and business-wise, but Bucky had done a decent job at shutting it down thus far.
And now Cole was in cahoots with Lloyd, well, not him directly on paper, just his bitch-ass sister who ran the firm. Bucky couldn’t believe-well, actually he could. He could believe that Cole would have teamed up with Hansen to build enough power for a takeover, especially considering it didn’t add up if Cole was making these moves on his own.
Fired by frustration that more than supplemented the sleep Bucky lacked from not just tonight, but this whole week, he snapped a picture of the contract and sent it to Sam. Sam would make sure it made its way through the right channels and contacts still back in the city. For now, Bucky had a more important priority than personally dealing with business: You. He had never been so grateful for Sam.
As he skimmed through the final page of the contract Cole had proposed to you, the first rooster crowed. Bucky got up to gather the eggs and make breakfast like any other day in the routine he’d grown so familiar with over just the past two weeks. But instead of cooking for you, he was cooking for the small army that came to your aid.
Curtis came barreling down the steps first, followed by Decks, and then eventually, Steve, who slumped and slinked down the stairs, reminiscent of Bucky’s first day doing the same. At least they were able to get themselves up.
Bucky plated their food, Curtis eyeing him with a small smile that Bucky failed to notice, and he sat down in his normal spot to start eating. He honestly didn’t have the appetite to do so, but he knew he’d crash without food since he already wasn’t sleeping, so he forced it down, preparing to go over the assignments with everyone once again.
Steve would be doing what Bucky had last week to set up the farmer’s market since it was scheduled to go again. Decks would be taking over the tasks you had, feeding the animals, and then doing sales with Bucky since people already knew his face. No need to raise more suspicion by introducing two new people to an event you were usually at.
Once everyone cleared their plates, they got to work, doing everything they could to be of assistance for the mob boss who was very evidently on edge.
Tumblr media
It was early afternoon when Bucky got a call from Sam. He immediately picked it up.
“We’re close, boss. Only a couple more large boulders to go before there’s a big enough gap to pull her through.”
Bucky dropped the empty crates he was carrying onto the floor of the storage shed where he was returning them from the farmers market. Lucky for him, the storage shed was much closer to the mines than the barn.
Bucky was full-on sprinting in a way no one had ever seen. He never had to once he rose to power. All he did was walk, his long strides alone commanded enough respect. But this wasn’t about pride. It was about you.
He arrived at the mine entrance, breathing heavily, just as Sam was holding your hand, helping you step over a pile of sand and pebbles. Jake stood awkwardly to the side as you looked up from your feet to see Bucky quickly moving toward you. A smile took over your face and you sighed in relief. He scooped you up and spun you around before setting you down again and using his large hands to frame your face. Bucky didn’t care about the dirt and grime that had built up on the two of you. All he cared about was your safe return to his arms.
You watched as his eyes darted between yours and down to your lips. You wouldn’t hold back anymore. He had put all his resources into saving you, helping you. Without wasting another second, you leaned up on your toes and smashed your lips into his. When you pulled back, Bucky lost consciousness, collapsing in your arms.
