A Completely Objective and Logical Ranking of Every Hetalia Character Song
New character songs are dropping,  I have too much time on my hands, let’s go.
Also here’s a Youtube playlist for the ~✨nostalgia✨~
Bring it on in the tags
71. Ah Legendary Class⭐The Awesome Me Highway [Prussia]: Absolutely tearing it up on the drums and on the vocal cords alike (I pray for Atsushi Kousaka). Great for the memes.
70.  Happy Thoughts Museum [???]: This is listed as an official song but I had literally never heard of the title. Then I listened to it and BAM! Smack back to 2013 watching the teasers for the show on Funimation. Not sure I’d count it as a character song though...
69. (Nice)  My Song that is written by me for me [Prussia]: Deafened me but I can appreciate the industrial grind.
68.  My House is...Quiet. ~With the Trolls~ [Norway]: I have never heard this song, nor can I find any version of it online. By default it goes here and I am so sorry Norge.
67.  Make a Wish to Santa♪ [Sealand]: The discordant notes and childish exuberance only serve to make this sound like a demonic plea to Santa to eliminate the singer’s enemies.
66.  Heaven and Hell on Earth [Rome]: Rome sounds like he’s been in the corner of a restroom. Extra points for the metal version, minus points for the fact that the beach scene was replayed like 1764 times.
65. Canada Complete Introduction [Canada]: Quiet af until Kumacheerio shows up and blows out your speakers. they did you dirty my darling 😔
64.  It’s Easy!!! [America]: I don't think any video of this has ever stayed up for more than 20 seconds. Sounds cool, but like I was listening to 20 different genres at once, someone make him calm down.
63.  Bù Zàiyì the Small Stuff ☆ [China]: I cannot for the life of me find the complete song anywhere, clips have a cool beat though
62.  Let's Boil Hot Water♪ [Italy]: Exactly what it says on the tin..though a bit too close to elevator music for my tastes.
61.  The Fragrance of Early Summer [Japan]: Very ‘from the books’ Japan-esque song
60.  Peace Sounds Nice…[Baltic Trio]: All well and good until the radio demon shows up
59.  W●D●C ~World Dancing~ [America]: How a song can sound like it’s from 4 different decades at once is beyond me
58.  Overflowing Passion [BFT]: This is just drunken karaoke and I have 0 clue what’s going on #iconicforallthewrongreasons
57. Ren●Ren●Renaissance♪ [Rome+Chibitalia]: Wholesome Grandpa with Grandson content - barring the fact that Italy sounds on the verge of a nervous breakdown and Rome has had too much wine.
56.  Roma Antiqua [Rome]: Similar energy to any one of China’s songs - there’s a part of the song where it sounds like he’s singing in the shower, and I will never not laugh at [CENSORED]
55.  Country From Where the Sun Rises, Zipangu [Japan]: Very chill, very Japan, but just meh for me.
54.  Moon Over Emei Shan [China]: Good message, okay song.
53.  My Friend [England]: What a mind palace you must have Mr. Kirkland
52.  With Love, from Iceland [Iceland]: Three words: Heavy. Metal. Puffin.
51.  Having Friends is Nice...♫ [Russia]: Russia is the cutest thing ever
50.  Mm. [Sweden]: Smooth transition from WWE Smackdown to shopping at IKEA.
49.  Why don’t you come over? ~Beyond the Northern Lights~ [Iceland]: I don’t want to be mean but...this does sound like the second closing theme to an anime whose first closing was much more popular (à la Soul Eater)
48. Gakuen☆Festa [Germany, Italy, Japan]: Sounds like a 60s song of the summer but oh dear their voices do not go together. Hella cute though.
47.  Wa! Wa!! World Ondo [Main Cast]: One time I travelled 10 hours in a coach bus with a bunch of teenagers to a city of note in my country, and the only souvenir I bought was the fucking PAINT IT WHITE DVD. Perfectly chaotic, UN ĐĕùX~~
46.  In the Bluebell Woods [England]: In the album cover for this song he’s holding a guitar but this is not a rock song. Still has ‘running through the hills’ levels of dramatism though.
45.  Poi Poi Poi♪ [Taiwan]: You’re telling me that Taiwan, someone whose has *ONE LINE* in Beautiful World (which is criminal tbh what kind of representation-) managed to get an eNTIRE CHARACTER SONG???????
44.  White Flame [Russia]: There’s something to be said for a song that is 3x the length of any Hetalia episode
43.  Ich liebe… [Germany]: Baking cakes for your friends has never been so wholesome.
42.  We Wish you a Merry Christmas [America, China, England, France, Russia]: Nice to see they’ve gotten their shit together since United Nations Sta-hmm.
41.  Ah, Worldwide à la mode [France]: Sounds like a Disney Princess song, hard not to picture France frolicking in a field of flowers.
40.  Che Bello! ~My House is the Greatest!⭐~ [Italy]: Would not be out of place in an advertisement for Sea World.
39.  May You Smile Today [Japan]: THE feel good song of the summer
38.  Let’s Look Behind the Rainbow [Italy]: I will protect you.
37.  I'm your HERO☆ [America]: “Anyone who’s sad or sullen will be arrested” did NOT age well.
36.  Mein Gott! [Prussia]: Alternating headphone effect at the beginning is cool, so is the confidence...the actual singing on the other hand...
35. Nihao⭐China [China]: Listen, all of China’s character songs are great, I just can’t vibe with this one like some of the others.
34.  Pechka ~Light My Heart~ [Russia]: I’m still having difficulty wrapping my head around the fact that this and Winter were released at the same time.
33.  Pukapuka⭐Vacation [Germany, Italy, Japan]: Seems just a bit too much like they’re running on a treadmill that’s picking up speed and trying to sing at the same time. Peppy.
32.  Santa Claus is Coming to Town [Germany, Italy, Japan]: This is unironically the best song sung by this trio; can only vibe with for two months out of the year though.
31.  Excuse Me, I Am Sorry [Japan]: Japan’s character traits speedrun. Gives me barbershop quartet vibes for some reason but is catchy as hell.
30.  The Story of Snow and Dreams [Russia]: A superhero anime opening in the making
29. England’s Evil Demon Summoning Song [England]: Sir that is not how you roast a marshmallow, don’t cut yourself on that edge.
28.  Moi Moi Sauna♪ [Finland]: Exactly the type of song you’d expect and it’s wonderful
27.  United Nations Star⭐ [America, China, England, France, Russia]: This isn’t as much of a song as it is a four minute struggle for everyone to sing without America yelling every 5 seconds...Like a particularly musical episode of Hetalia.
26.  Paris is Indeed Splendid [France]: Paris-pa-pa-pa-paris
25.  Absolutely Invincible British Gentleman [England]: Poppy, rocky, polka-dotty
24.  Vorwärts Marsch! [Germany]: To quote the comment section: “This sounds like a German version of I’ll Make a Man out of you.” There’s some truth to that.
23.  Hamburger Street [America]: The product of America’s rapper phase. 8/10 because he’s trying so hard and because I can unironically sing along to all of this.
22.  Hoi Sam☆Nice Guy [Hong Kong]: A song that would absolutely destroy the ankles of anyone in DDR.
21.  I Am German-Made [Germany]: There was once a version that had Germany and Prussia singing at the same time and it sounded positively demonic and Broadway could never
20.  La pasión no se detiene ~Unstoppable Passion~ [Spain]: Talented, brilliant, incredible, amazing, show-stopping...
19.  Fall in Love, Mademoiselle [France]: Sounds like it should be in Mozart Opera Rock, I have kiss kiss falled in love.
18. Embrace the Très Bien Moi [France]: This is the definition of SELF LOVE PEOPLE.
17. Carrot and Stick [Belarus&Ukraine]: Absolutely DRIPPING in 2000s power ballad energy. The type of song that plays on repeat in the mind of the widow whose millionaire husband ‘mysteriously disappeared’ (and the only legit character song ever acknowledged by the anime)
16. C.B.C (Cowboyz Boot Camp) Vol. 1 [America]: AH MAH GAWWDDD
15. Winter [Russia]: Heavy metal fever dream and the perfect song for an angst-ridden teenager
14.  Seychelles Here ⭐ Vacation Island [Seychelles]: UN👏DER👏RA👏TED SONG👏OF 👏THE 👏SUM👏MER👏
13.  Nah, it will settle itself somehow [Romano]: One day I aspire to reach this level of chill
12.  Let’s Enjoy Today [England]: I will never not feel happy when listening to this.
11.  Einsamkeit [Germany]: Ludwig manages to air every single one of his worries about not being good enough compared to his friends and always being perceived as mean or uptight when he’s actually just a softie and now my heart hurts. 💔
10.  Aiyaa Four Thousand Years [China]: A very poignant and beautiful song about the passage of time and the inevitability of its passing; comparable to an ancient ballad complete with explosive crescendos and meaningful lyrics.
9.  Bon Bon Bon❤️C’est Bon C’est Bon! [France]: Peppy, cheerful, adorable, groundbreaking; has been my alarm tone for six years and I’ve yet to tire of it. 9/10 The moaning interspersed throughout has been an interesting wake-up call.
8.  Let’s Enjoy! Let’s Get Excited! Cheers! [Denmark]: This is on par with Everytime we Touch by Cascada in terms of rage potential unlocked (the good kind)
7.  Dream Journey [Japan]: Whoever’s playing the shakuhachi is absolutely KILLING IT. Dramatic, wonderful, great metaphors.
6.  Gourmet’s Heart Beginner Level [China]: Absolute banger, I’m a vegetarian but this would inspire me to eat shumai.
5.  Always with you...Nordic Five! [Nordic FIVVVVVEEEE]: Everyone harmonizes beautifully except for Denmark. Extremely catchy, number placement seemed appropriate.
4.  Pub and GO! [England]: I love this trash man
3. Maji Kandou⭐Hong Kong Night [Hong Kong]: If you thought Denmark’s song was a banger JUST YOU WAIT. I WILL BLOW OUT MY SPEAKERS LISTENING TO LO-HA-SU.
2. Steady Rhythmus [Germany]: THIS SONG IS METAL AF. Seriously, if it can be classified as ‘hardcore’ by my father and his group of 50-somethings who have decided to single-handedly gatekeep the metal and hardrock genres, it can do anything.
1.  The Delicious Tomato Song 🍅 [Romano]: Beautiful, absolutely awe-inspiring, poignant, catchy lyrics with an extremely deep meaning that only years of meticulous research and analysis can unlock, Romano I love you.
BONUS: Closing Songs
5. Hatafutte Parade (World Series)
4. Hetalian⭐Jet (The World Twinkle): The song is good, the dancing is cursed
3. Chikyuu Marugoto Hug Shitainda (World⭐Stars)
2. Marukaite Chikyuu (Hetalia: Axis Powers): nE NE PaPA
1. Mawaru Chikyuu Rondo (The Beautiful World)

Lesser-Known Girl Groups You Should Check Out
1. GIRLKIND
First on the list is GIRLKIND! This is a four member girl group that all the admins really like. They come from a poor company, which unfortunately has made some people send them hate, but every single one of these girls is so talented and they do their best with what they have. They do a lot of dance covers, like their recent relay dance of girl group songs from 2010, as well as vocal and dance covers! They tend to reply to comments and interact with fans as well! Medic Jin has such an incredible voice and every single member can dance. It’s sad that they don’t have the funds to show their talent to the world, because they genuinely have so much potential. Their most recent comeback is “Future” and it’s one of my favorites by them, go check it out!
Tumblr media
2. Saturday
Second on the list we have Saturday! Saturday is a (now) five member girl group under SD Entertainment. For this group, their songs definitely aren’t for everyone: they’re a mix of cute and silly, but it’s a sound that I personally love! My favorite song by them is “Wifi,” it’s just so catchy and it makes me smile every time I listen to it! They recently posted a dance cover of “Kissing You” with their lightstick that was so adorable, and Haneul, who is all around talented AF, posted a short NCT 127 “Kick It” dance Cover! You can learn more about them by watching them on Fact iN Star. Their last comeback was with “BByong” and it looks like we’ll be getting a comeback soon as some of the girls have changed their hair colors!
Tumblr media
3. Nature
Third we have one of my current favorite groups, Nature! Nature is a nine member girl group under N.CH World. They’ve had a couple lineup changes and, most recently, added Sohee, who some of you might recognize from Produce 101! This group is known for their kind of weird, unique yet catchy songs, like “Some (You’ll Be Mine)” and my personal favorite, “I’m So Pretty.” This group has some dancing machines and they post a lot of dance covers, Haru in particular. She just recently posted a dance cover of MC Hammer’s “It’s All Good,” and a dance practice all my friends love is Saebom, Aurora, and Haru’s cover of “Chun-Li.” You can watch them on Weekly Idol, Fact iN Star, KBS’s Try Not To Sing Challenge, Pops In Seoul, Car Talk, and Idol League. They had a reality show with Mnet, but I cannot for the life of me find where to watch it. They upload a lot of short videos to their YouTube channel, some with subs and others without. They also had a pop cover project pre-debut that is incredible! Their latest Korean comeback was with “Oopsie! My Bad” and “Bing Bing,” a side track the promoted! They’re a really amazing group that I’ve totally fallen for!
Tumblr media
4. Elris
This next group is an older group, as Elris debuted under Hunus Entertainment in 2017. They recently added two members, Chaejeong (who you might recognize from Produce 48) and EJ, making them a seven member girl group. They debuted with a rather cute concept that they changed up a bit with their last comeback. Sohee, the leader, is probably the most known member of the group. You might know her from her solo song “Hurry Up” with BOL4, she also did some solo things pre-debut. They post both dance and vocal covers on their YouTube channel, as well as vlogs from the members. You can learn more about them by watching Pops in Seoul, Fact iN Star, Broken Karaoke, After School Club, their Weekly Idol episode with Golden Child, and this actually helpful (un)helpful guide to Elris. They also recently appeared on dancing idol! Their most recent comeback was with “Jackpot” and it was really good, be sure to give them a listen!
Tumblr media
5. 3YE
Next is 3YE (pronounced third eye) and, even though I think they’re really gaining in popularity especially overseas, I still wanted to include them. 3YE is a three member girl group under GH Entertainment with a criminal concept! Their dances really make them stand out because of the cheer power, and their music would appeal to anyone who likes more hard-hitting music or a typical boy group sound. On their YouTube, you can find Q&A videos (subbed!) and lots of covers! Unfortunately they haven’t had the chance to be on many shows yet, but you can learn more about them through this interview, this (un)helpful guide to 3YE, and this Pop in Seoul video. They have three songs, the most recent being “Queen” as well as “OOMM (Out Of My Mind)” and “DMT (Do My Thing)”.
Tumblr media
6. ANS
Next we have ANS, an eight member girl group under ANS Entertainment that debuted in 2019. It’s a bit of a joke in the fandom that they add members every comeback, because, well, it’s kind of true so far. They gained a lot of attention after their comeback “Say My Name” in January, although some people were accusing them of copying Everglow. Thankfully, most of the attention that came from this was positive. This is another group under a poor company trying their best, especially because a lot of the girls have tried to debut before, but I think they did amazing with their last comeback and I’m really hoping their career is able to take off. Also, their dance skills are GREAT. They have so many members who excel in dancing and even choreograph themselves, please watch Bian, Dalyn, and Raon’s “I Like It” choreo and be blessed. They also post vocal covers through their cover project and their dance practice in hanbok was ADORABLE. They went to Fact iN Star during their debut, so you can learn about the members other than J and Haena there. This (un)helpful guide to ANS is really great as well! These girls are incredibly talented, check out both “Boom Boom” and “Say My Name” live stages to see what I mean!
Tumblr media
7. Cignature
Okay so Cignature has actually been getting quite a lot of attention since their debut this year, but I couldn’t help but to add them here. Cignature is a seven member girl group under J9 Entertainment. Five of the members were in the girl group Good Day and appeared on The Unit, so you might see some familiar faces! I feel like a broken record, but I’m serious when I once again say that the members are SO TALENTED. They sing live for every performance and even during some dance challenges! On their YouTube, they do a lot of dance covers and they have a lot of short videos called Cignature Piece that are, unfortunately, not subbed but are still fun to watch! You can learn more about them through After School Club, this complimenting challenge, this newsaid interview, this skylife series, Broken Karaoke, and Fact iN Star released a dance video, so they might be appearing there soon as well! They came back with a second debut single ASSA after Nun Nu Nan Na, which is about not caring if you’re an outsider and being yourself!
Tumblr media
8. April
April is another group that falls into the area of known, but kind of underrated. They’re a six member girl group under DSP Entertainment that debuted in 2015, and although they had some lineup changes early on (KARD’s Somin used to be in the group) they’ve stayed six members for a while. You probably know Naeun, even if you don’t know that you know her: she’s acted in “A-Teen” and “Extraordinary You” as well as been MC for multiple music shows. The members have also done OST’s and have been in commercials. Somehow, though, Apink still manages to fall under the radar. Their last comeback, Oh! My Mistake was their most popular song (and their best mini album, in my opinion), but then they disappeared for a while. Their songs like April Story and The Blue Bird had more of a soft, dreamy concept and, in my opinion, should have gotten them some wins. Their reality show Here Goes April right after their debut (before Rachel and Chaekyung joined and Somin and Hyunjoo left) does have English subs, but unfortunately most of the short videos they upload now do not. You can learn more about April through their Celuv TV appearance, A Song For You, and their Pops in Seoul interview. Since they aren’t super popular overseas, it is hard to find English subs for them, but Chaewon does have her own YouTube where she posts covers and a few vlog-type videos, and Naeun has appeared on a lot of shows on her own! April will finally be making a comeback this month on the 22nd with their mini album Da Capo, so keep an eye out and please give them lots of support!
Tumblr media
There are so many other groups that I love, like Favorite, PinkFantasy, PurpleBeck, ShaFLA, Sunny Hill, PLAYBACK, Sonamoo, NeonPunch, DreamNote, Ariaz, Limesoda, Laboum, Hashtag, and H.U.B! There also groups like gugudan, GWSN, and DIA who are known but need more recognition. If you guys find this helpful, I’d love to do another list to bring light to my girls! - Admin Kiwi

We interrupt our usual programming to screAM OVER MY GIRL SOLAR.
Now, I don’t follow kpop as closely as my housemate does, but I did grow up on it off and on. I fell out of it during college and for a while after, but some of the current groups are really blowing me away. One of my faves is MAMAMOO—ridiculous name, strong vocals, lots of spunk. These girls rock my socks off.
Solar just dropped her new album/single, and I was excited to hear about it, but the first three listens have me kind of… disappointed?
Vocals
The chorus is catchy—I already have it stuck in my head—but I’m really not feeling the verses, or the raspier voice she’s using? The main reason that Solar’s my fav is her strong, clear vocals and playful voices. She has a lot of my favorite lines to sing along with because they’re so fun. But her vocals often run deeper, huskier, and less expressive in this song—more of the Selena Gomez whisperpop, except where she picks up in the chorus, and even then, the music isn’t fast enough or alive enough as my ears are wanting to hear watching her. I feel like I need to speed up the chorus a touch, although the pacing of the verses suit the singing style just fine. And where’s her spunk? Its in the videos, but not in her vocals…
Outfits
What. The fuck. K-pop does some weird-ass stuff with their performance attire sometimes, yes, but what’s up with the dish gloves paired with the classic Little Black Dress? What’s with those green rubber ropes—are you channeling Cousin It at a rave? What is going on in some of these? It could be worse—I still don’t know what to make of Lisa’s blue and orange outfit in 뚜두뚜두 with the giant, saggy boots—but still—really?
That said, my girl Solar’s looking bomb af in Versace, and I LOVE all of her more casual outfits! That shirt-biting, RAWR. The fluorescent paint streaks on white are always a good party vibe. Casual and coy is a good look on her, too, and her stripped down, serene, somber bald imagery surrounded by candles was a beautiful moment and a nice contrast. I did feel slightly anxious that her veil was going to catch on fire ahaha (especially with the “Set fire fire fire” line), but for her first solo, it was a very “This is me” scene.
My roommate thought her childish final look was very odd, of all of them, but I thought it was perfect after the somber candles scenes, and the absolute opposite of her clawed, dark leather glove opening look. It felt very “Coming to life,” so the youthfulness with the braided pigtails, the bright cartoony dress, and the barefoot dancing made sense to me after the quiet privacy of the candles, then the fire and explosion being the catalyst, and now she’s young and thrivin’.
Overall
It was cute and fun. It could be better, and it’s not at ALL a good showcase of her vocal ability, so it was a bit disappointing, but it was still neat. Hoping some of the other album tracks do better. I felt like the song wasn’t varied enough to warrant how many different looks she had, so the scenes in the video felt overly incohesive. I think my ear kept trying to catch some Hwasa or Moonbyul, too, even though they’re not in it. Which is odd—I didn’t have that problem with Moonbyul’s singles—but maybe it’s because this is just a poppier song, idk. I’m going to go listen to Egoistic now. There’s a song that’s perfect from start to finish. “화를 내도 내 입만 아프다니까 넌 멋대로만 해—BRRRAH!” And Décalcomanie… and Piano Man… ahhh.
Like it? Watch it!

9. Gush about your all-time favorite episode real quick. Just go on a long, rambling tangent about how much you love it. Do it. We’re listening.
My all-time favorite episode is and will always be Reunited, I had just really gotten into SU after A Single Pale Rose, I saw all of the episodes preceding it through random streams I found. I was excited to see how the arc would finally conclude!
I couldn't see it live sadly, so I waited until I found an upload at around 1am. I downloaded it and broadcasted to the living room tv. And I was just excitedly watching, it had such a lighthearted beginning with the song, it was catchy. I got to see Peridot in a cute af dress and I was so very happy! She looked adorable.
Then we had a glimpse of Lapis and the Cluster during the beginning, and I felt the foreboding feeling that all of these things would be brought up. Maybe.
I was incredibly heartwarmed by Ruby and Sapphire and their words of Adoration to each other. I was expectant while I saw the diamonds arriving, with a very exciting battle coming with them.
But the real moment, where my excitement and joy PEAKED. Blue Diamond incapacitating everyone with her sadness aura, with the objective to end all of them.
I saw how Garnet overcame it, to start standing her ground against Blue, a mix of "Stronger than you" playing in the background making it clear that this was a moment of strength.
But the moment after, with Garnet saying "I just wanted to stop you from taking three steps to the right" I was confused for a very few seconds, my mind racing with questions to what she meant.
And then the droplets landed on Blue Diamond's head, I let out a gasp and with my eyes wide saw how the camera panned up to the sky.
The soft music box notes that were first played back in Mirror gem, the silver light of the moon framing the silhouette of Lapis Lazuli, who found the courage to come back from it.
I was SPEECHLESS. I just saw how she threw the barn on Blue, and then she landed on the beach, Peridot screaming out "Lapis?!" Before running at her.
"You're really here"
Those words just. They were said with so much awe. An awe that I also felt, all the tension my body had been accumulating just a few moments before got released in a ear-piercing scream. I screamed SO LOUD, and then run to the second floor where my sister was. I was just so filled with feelings and excitement and I needed to share them with her!
My sister got scared because she thought I was being murdered. And my dad also got angry at me for screaming at 1 in the morning.
After that, I decided to watch the episode back again but in my room, with a pillow to muffle my screaming when seeing Lapis coming back again, I watched the rest of the episode still feeling the same excitement, seeing all of the Crystal gems together for once, fighting for their home and themselves.
And the episode ended in the best way it could, to make me look forward for the next one, Blue's voice cracking when saying "It's you! Pink!" I could feel her relief.
Even now, watching the episode still makes me feel amazed, I generally tend to get desensitized when watching an episode/movie multiple times. But watching Lapis come back and stand against blue still gives me the same feelings like the first time. I really consider it's the best scene on the whole show by far, there's so much packed in just a few seconds that make it a cinematic masterpiece to me. I could watch it on repeat a whole day and still feel the mirror gem motif on my bones.

TOP 3 GALA 6
Here is last week’s top 3!
And... the worst-case scenario happened... Anne was the expulsed one💔💔💔. I’m writing this the next Tuesday and I’m still heartbroken, especially seeing how broken is Gèrard :(
It was a really intense gala, for me it was really weird, had some really high highs (Samantha as a concept, the imitations, my number one spot this week...) but also really low lows (Anne’s goodbye, Estr*lla Mor*ente and her disgusting attitude, again Anne’s goodbye and how she was in the chat cause I can’t get over it...)
Anyways, let’s go through the honorable mentions:
Lately by Bruno: I liked his performance. Like, I know it wasn’t his best and it was definitely the weakest performance among the three nominees, but I didn’t see he did it that bad. Anyways, he got nominated again sadly :(
Video Killed The Radio Star - OT 2020: I really liked this group song! Like, I think it’s the best one to date, if they have a tour, I imagine this performance would be there! Also this was the first gala where everybody was dressed nicely, without any stylistic disasters so yay. Finally, fun fact, it was revealed accidentally by Samantha that everybody there had made out with at least one person. Yup.
La Lista de la Compra - Samantha & Rafa: I’m putting this performance exclusively because of Samantha, and because the song is catchy af. Like imagine being as iconic as her. And the interview previous to this performance was soo good, Sam was the protagonist of the gala for sure. And when she judged the judges!! Amazing, really. Rafa got nominated.
La Última Noche - Nia & Jesús: Is there anything Nia can’t sing? They sung the song really beautiful, Jesús is not exactly my cup of tea but I have to recognised he works and he has a good voice, so that’s that. Also, this is a shipping song, one of the last there can still happen (only one left is Rafa & Eva if Rafa isn’t expulsed this week)
And I would also put Volver here but... you know what happened. For those of you who don’t, basically Nia as the favourite got to sing with an invited artist, in this case Estrella Morente. They got to rehearse it once, and then they performed it in the gala. But, in the beginning of the song, Estrella created some new lyrics in favour of bullfighting (Maialen had said a month ago that bullfighters are assassins while eating, just a comment and that’s it, but this week for some reason bullfighting supporters were pressing charges against the program and shit like that) which fucked everything. And it sucks cause Nia was wonderful but nobody talked about her after that. So yeah, I’m not giving that woman any more exposition.
3. THAT’S LIFE - FLAVIO
youtube
Here is the original song, by Frank Sinatra :)
Each week I like him more and more I swear, look at him go!! It has become one of my favourites, and deserved too. He was so good in this song, it fit him so well, and I really like how happy he was during the performance, given what a tough week this was for him. I hope he gets to the final, this performance was worthy of that in my opinion.
2. UNCHAINED MELODY - ANNE
youtube
Here is the original version, by Righteous Brothers :)
There goes my girl :( If you are following these posts, you’ll know she was my favourite since the first week, and look at her, she went out with a bang. Definitely her best pass of the song, she did so well, and so beautifully. She shouldn’t have to leave the Academy this early in the contest, really, but at least she did it giving all she has. The only thing that destroys me is the fact so many people were hating on her for the past two weeks, and that, even though she has already say she’s scared of social media and still hasn’t appeared on any social media since her expulsion, she’ll probably read some hate posts, especially in Twitter, and it’s gonna affect her 💔 At least she had one of the most beautiful moments in the Academy for now, the recording of her single, “Salté” (which releases in early March!)
1. CON ALTURA - MAIALEN & ANAJU
youtube
Here is the original version of the song, by Rosalía, and here is the version they based their performance on, by Ginebras :)
There’s always a song in each edition that has a bit of a rock sound, really loud and energetic that instantly become fan favourites and they are made to sing from the top of your lungs or / and while on the car. In OT 2017 it was a bit difficult to choose one cause there wasn’t a clear song that had all those elements, but the closest one was La Revolución Sexual. And in OT 2018 was for sure Voy En Un Coche (it literally translates to “I’m In a Car”), María herself embodies all of this. And this edition, it was this performance. WHAT TWO QUEENS. Like honestly, the two most versatile of this editions (with Sam) like hello???? They were amazing, and throughout the week were cute as shit, like, Mai is always cute and puking rainbows and with positivity at all times, but with Anaju was extra cute, and Anaju herself too. It was a pleasure to see both of them support each other during this week, they were so great :)
And that’s it, this week for me is more relaxed after a whole week seeing hundreds of hate comments towards Anne and seeing how she was the least voted in all surveys, so I’m taking it easy. Three nominees again, Bruno, Hugo and Rafa, and both Bruno and Hugo are people I really like and I really can’t choose between them, so I’ll be saving both. For now I’m saving Bruno cause I’m seeing Hugo is winning by a landslide, like Flavio last week, but I’ll see after the mic pass if I change my vote, I don’t know.
Let me know what you thought of the gala :)

Eurovision 2010: 35 - 31
35. KEiiNO - “Spirit in the sky” Norway 2019
youtube
During the preshow I posited that "Spearwhil”  would be the Rasmussen but as it turned out-
I HEAR YOU CALLING ME AT NIGHT
Tumblr media
No, Tom NOT NOW!!! I’m in the middle of my sentence. 🙄 Wait your turn Anyway, it turned out that ‘the Rasmussen’ really ought to be called ‘the KEiiNO’. Observe this Michal-esque rise up the scoreboard:
Tumblr media
OutSzpak’ing Spzak. 😍 Let’s be honest though, it was-
I HEAR YOU CALLING ME AT NI-
Tumblr media
- COMPLETELY DESERVED TOO.  Fred was especially great, who delivered EPIC yoik solo that I am sure won KEiiNO the televote on the spot. 😍
Tumblr media
This particularly pleases me because I was worried Tom & Alexandra (who are both very good performers) would take the spotlight away from Fred, but no did the weakest link pre-show turned not only turn out to be the strongest one, but he was arguable the single strongest performer of finale night. SO PROUD OF THEM ANGELS. 😍 Let us all sing along
*cough* I said, “let us all sing along”
...
(k Tom, now is ur cue)
I HEAR YOU CALLING ME AT NIIIIIGHT
Tumblr media
THE NORTHERN LIGHTS ARE DANCING
Tumblr media
HÅ LA HEI LOI LÅ
Tumblr media
A lot of the criticism from KEiiNO comes from your typical value-seekers who can only enjoy themselves in public if their shallow trash comes coated in a thick layer of novelty gimmicks and Deep Meaning, so they don’t have to admit to others and themselves than they tune in to have fun, like everyone else. There’s nothing wrong with novelty gimmicks & the like, but applying that standard to everything is taking it a tad too far. Sometimes, simplicity is key and that’s exactly what KEiiNO were: unpretentious, highly-addictive EDM adorned with epic yoiking. 😍

34. Gianluca - “Tomorrow” Malta 2013
youtube
"Tomorrow” is, to use Gianluca’s own words, a curious delight: I always, always, always forget about it. Then I rewatch 2013 as I do at least once per year, and each time it’s like a Céline Dion song IT’S ALL COMING BACK TO ME and I’m in love again. 😍 “Tomorrow” is such a clever twist of the typical love song by telling the story from the THIRD PERSON PERSPECTIVE by an all-knowing narrator. It’s world’s merriest audiobook. 😍
Naturally, this works because Gianluca has TONS of charisma. He’s one of the most magnetic humans ever on a Eurovision Stage?
Tumblr media
It’s hard to believe that he ages like the rest of us, I’d assume he was birthed fully formed and clothed, at age thirteen, in whatever rests at the end of a Neverlandian rainbow.
“Tomorrow” could’ve so easily been one of those “Annoyingly Positive songs”, but because he’s so relentlessly jolly, Gianluca injects “Tomorrow” with limitless happy energy, enough to melt the polar icecaps. I am happy that I don’t revisit Gianluca between watches, as I do with others, because each time I rediscover him it’s like finding a four-leaf-clover. 🍀

33. Elitsa Todorova & Stoyan Yankoulov - “Samo shampioni” Bulgaria 2013
youtube
IMA LI MLADI? IMA LI LYUDI? TSYALO SELO DOIDE PEITE NE SE BOITE
Let us continue with one of the most glorious trainwrecks EVER in Eurovision. 😍 Of course, this being the GOD-tier the severity of wreckage (aka the Sennek Factor) is even higher than normal. In the case of “Samo shampioni” the messiness began DURING THE PRESELECTIONS. 😍 Okay you may not remember or know this backstory, so allow me to enlighten you:
Okay, so *initially* BNT selected Elitsa & Stoyan and for some reason decided to hold an NF: They introduced: first a terrible rapbomination, second a boring ethnoballad (think Iriao + percussion) and then pulled out an experimental fusion of ethnic bagpipes, polyphonic singing and dubstep, which Elitsa openly pointed as her favourite. 😍 Obviously, the audience had to choose for the latter? NOPE The audience chose the iriao-esque ballad 😍 and in one of the most hilariously open displays of riggage, LESS THAN A DAY AFTER THE NF (and after Elitsa allegedly threw a huge backstage temper tantrum threatening to withdraw LMFAO), BNT produced a statement that was all like “well. we can’t send “Kismet”. 🤓 You see... it has come under our attention that... the songwriter from Argentina (lmao) can’t agree to the copyright terms we demanded of him 🤓but that’s fine because it means we can send “SAMO SHAMPIONI” instead 😊‘ <3333333333333333333333456789 who the fuck is Christer Björkman, fucking NOBODY that’s who. And of course, once “Samo Shampioni” finally got to Malmö it was an utter disaster. 😍 I say "disaster” in the best meaning of the word though. I LOVE when countries showcase their musical traditions, but Elitsa and Stoyan do it so aggressively, BLASTING the unassuming viewer with loud af bagpipe noises, following it up with a menuet of polyphony, a clarion of “AAAAAAAAAAAA-YUUUU” and a finale of dubstep and mayumaniacal percussion. “Samo Sampioni” was loud, abrasive, a clamour of ethnic noise but by the same token such a catchy, infectuous, delightful fucking BOP. No surprise it got jurypwned but it was well worth the effort. 😍

32. Nadav Guedj - “Golden boy” Israel 2015
youtube
Welcome to the Dicedrome, ladies and gentlemen: Introducing the man who put Israel back on the map after four straight NQs. But Nadav is more than just a Hebrew Tom Dice.
Tumblr media
For starters, “Golden boy” is also the first time we were ever subjected to Doron Medalie (and also Imri Ziv but lol Imri), who is at his BEST here (apart from that moment when he brusquely shoved Cesár out of the way as if he were Krisse Salminen lmfao 😍): “Golden boy” has everything I could want in an uptempo party song: Drama, catchy rhythm, limitless fun, chanting, dancing and an absolutely ridiculous premise: sixteen year old boy gets wasted after fruitlessly flirting with all sorts of femfolk on his first night out. Yes, THIS
Tumblr media
is sixteen years old. 😍 But what I mostly love about “Golden boy” is the humour. Intentional humour is really hard to get right and “Golden boy” NAILS it for me. From self-deprecating one-liners, to that choreography to b-roll material like the sound effect of beer being pourn as Nadav gets further into the song, to of course the epic finale of “THREE MINUTES! BYE :selfie”. 😍
Tumblr media
A wild ride which, as serendipity demands, is topped off by Nadav kicking off a strong Israeli streak that indeed ENDS up with Israel winning the contest (with a worse Doron composition :-/) and him showing us around in Tel Aviv. Funny how life works sometimes, huh?
OKAY GOTTA GO  THREE PARAGRAPHS BYEBYE

31. Jessy Matador - “Allez ola olé” France 2010
youtube
Did you know “Matador” is Eurospeak for “SLAYER”?  😉
Speaking of EPIC party songs, I was looking “Allez Ola Olé” up for my usual ranking purposes and this song.. is one of the most successful Eurovision songs EVER? I am not surprised, because “Allez olla olé” OWNS, but at the same time random 12th placers becoming massive off-season hits <3
(yes I am aware it’s because it was the French “Waka Waka” but that’s even more hilar, actually. What on earth is it doing in Eurovision <3)
Anyway, “Allez ola olé” definitely DESERVES all praise it can get. ETERNAL THORN IN THE SIDE OF THE EUROVISION ELITISTS <3 it is of course the anti-Proud, being all rhythm and no story, literally having no purpose other than making people dance (which I LOVE doing to “Allez Ola Olé”... within the confines of my bedroom, with the curtains closed because I have the dancing skills of drunk JarJar Binks) and honestly, what a spectacle. 😍
It features, in order of ascending awesomeness, male twerking (gender equality <3)
Tumblr media
witty references to sex (which I don’t mind here because it’s clearly consentual, and therefore, healthy, ICKOLAS)
Tumblr media
“Je sens le truc monter/..😏 ALLEEEEZ 😱”.
Tumblr media
DAM BA DAM BA DAM BA DAM DAM
Tumblr media
A fucking HAKA????? (btw, the female backing doing a salute is also lowkey great <3)
Tumblr media
Actually, TWO HAKA’S????
Tumblr media
This song may not have relevant meaning but my weave flew all the way to French Polynesia. “Allez, ola, olé” is nothing less than fucking AWESOME.
Tumblr media
In this update, we pay our final respects to Norway, Malta and France: Read more about them below:
NORWAY
Tumblr media
I don’t feel like this chart reflects my true feelings on Norway, because I like them a LOT more than what their average implies. They’re largely just dragged down by a few bad entries in the first half of the decade. Norway in the second half of this decade has shown a lot of promise and they are on my list of countries that I expect to win in the upcoming decade.
MALTA
Tumblr media
Malta are a very average Eurovision country imo. As you can see, they very often select songs that are not worth giving a fuck about, but conversely the few times that they do, they’re usually excellent happy-go-lucky gems. I could see them winning if they find that rare 1-in-50 entry (by one of their jesc winners preferably), but only if they keep internally selecting their entrant because lmao MES(s)C <3
FRANCE
Tumblr media
This is a really good chart for France and roughly what I expected. Not my favourite country but solidly upper tier. France really have reinvented themselves post 2016 and are reaping the rewards with generally higher results. I hope it gets topped off with another win soon. They deserve it.

The Great Eight Battle Battle #2
2 )The Sweet: Desolation Boulevard ( Side 2 )
Vs.
7 )Screeching Weasel: Television City Dream ( Side A )
2 )The Sweet: Desolation Boulevard ( Side 2 )
The second ranked Sweet (aka The Sweet, and originally The Sweetshop) are a House favorite at RRW HQ. Long considered an underrated gem, this album in particular hangs in my band room wall as a reminder of a kick ass collection. During the regular season, Sweet managed to impress the masses by burning 160 calories over 5 songs and 24 minutes. Let’s see if they can repeat. The Sweet are a British glam rock band that rose to worldwide fame in the 1970s. Best known (more “recently” anyway) for “Ballroom Blitz” ...you know, from Wayne’s World. They seamlessly (in my opinion) blend hard rock riffs with massive harmonies and catchy keyboards. They’re kind of the perfect band, really. All of the glam and showmanship with hardly any missteps. All killer, no filler. They didn’t start that way, however. At first they were very 60s pop oriented sounding more like cartoon band The Archies, but very quickly switched over to a Who influenced hard rock sound. Thank goodness! Actually those early hits aren’t at all bad either. Technically this is their third album (though it’s really a variation for U. S. Release collecting singles and paired with unreleased studio tracks). It’s absolutely the band in their prime. It starts with “Sweet F. A.” Let me tell you, it contains some sweet F*ing metal riffs!! Very ahead of the times if you’re asking me. Catchy hooks and keys to die for. Winding hybrid moments of satisfaction. Pretty darn good lead off batter, but wait...there’s more! “Fox on the Run” is next and a song you might be familiar with. If not, it is my highest recommendation to become so immediately. No single tune has better harmonies than this song. Glass shattering, ear drum piercing velocity. The Darkness had to learn that trick somewhere! Fox has the perfect tempo too, plugs right along. Is it possible to be in LOVE with a song? Exemplary talent and a service to the music buying public if you ask me. “Set Me Free” follows and is back to the brick heavy riffs of power pop punk. Breakneck madness with metal leanings. Certainly a contribution to a band like Van Halen and Guns ‘N’ Roses. As if that were not enough, the showmanship is effectively doubled in “Into The Night”. KISS is called to mind, however, this is pre (-ish) KISS and Boston (pops). The floating solos are like sonic waves of perfection. The last selection is “Solid Gold Brass” which is a slower jam to slam your head to. These guys just have hit after catchy ass hit! I would not say this often, but this stuff really is genius. It’s a little bit of bluesy intrusions with Jazz infusion. God Damn these guys for being so good! Just...WOW! The Hipgnosis cover (an art collective @ the center of coolness in the 70s) certainly doesn’t hurt either.
7 )Screeching Weasel: Television City Dream ( Side A )
Chicago punk legends return from the regular season, Screeching into 7th place. During the regular season they burned 140 calories over 18 minutes for an impressive 7.78 calories burned per minute. Let’s see if their punk pedigree can place them in the pole position (try saying that 5 times fast!). So I talked about how this was sort of a new era in Weasel-ology last time. The band has gone through many line up changes, some good, some bad, but it has lead to some pretty distinctive “eras” of the band (for lack of a better description). I would put this in the new era Weasel category. A reinvention of sorts. There was old school (pre Lookout), classic era (lookout years) and new era (post lookout). This particular album features Mass Giorgini, turning knobs as both a bass player and producer. Also, Dan Lumley on the drumley. A good team for sure. Solid anchors to hold down the swaying ship. I think it’s fair to say Weasel, and Ben in particular, was pretty well jaded by this point. It shows in the music, and specifically the lyrical content. With that, comes an irony as well. A certain maturity from the credentials and sheer time put into the band, but also an immaturity that is inherently present in punk rock. It’s like the best of both worlds. Like him or not, Ben Weasel does add a level of intelligence that is severely lacking in most punk rock bands. Sure it’s Ramones-core 1,2,3,4 but the subjects, and descriptions are colorful and accurate. A lot of the songs really capture your mind. They are little stories. I think that comes from Ben speaking his mind, very personal stuff. Honestly a lot of the records can be construed as personal, but this Weasel album in particular really locks in IMO. It all starts with “Count To Three”. The breaking glass sound effects say it all. Punk rock snot boots and Dan’s percussive blasts drive the beat home. The catchy AF harmonies of “Speed of Mutation” continue the fun and lovely harmonies, too. “Dummy Up” is another staccato hit before getting to some of the bonus tracks. Oh, I may have neglected to mention, this is the 2010 reissued version with extra unreleased tunes, the first of which is “Video”. Look up the incident in question, but it seems to be a response tune. I like to focus on the music, not the controversy so it’s a decent but mediocre tune, and probably the reason it was left off the original release. Side A plugs along with the punky, punky “Your Mortality” and gets followed with “Dirty Needles”. This one is just literally a PSA turned into a song and why Weasel is so creative. It works really well. The man knows how to write a hook. “Punk Rock Explained” Is another outtake And this one borrows from Joe King and The Queers territory (makes sense as they collaborated several times in the past). “Breaking Point” is perhaps autobiographical, while “My Own World” has an emotional tone. Maybe it’s an outtake from their album entitled Emo (#seewhatididthere). It’s actually one of the better bonus tracks. Not sure why it was left off other than perhaps time? Slower and more personal. The last song features a SW classic the one string solo. Weasel is king of the one string. “Outside of You” is the song’s name and you’re going to love it all the same. So generally 10 songs would normally be considered an album by most standards, but this album (one of SW’s most creative and poignant in my opinion) is not standard by any stretch of the definition. I feel like, especially in the later years, Screeching Weasel had become a mockery of itself and was constantly trying to reinvent the band, each time getting a little more Jaded, a little sharper, and a little less friendly pop punk. Television City Dream cemented that process and thus is one of the best “New Era” Weasel studio efforts.
Today it was Sweet desolating boulevards vs. Weasels that Screech in a Television City Dream. Sweet ended up burning 190 calories over 5 songs and 24 minutes. That is 38.0 calories burned per song and 7.92 calories burned per minute. This go around Sweet earned 13 out of 15 possible stars. Screeching Weasel managed to burn 144 calories over 10 songs and 20 minutes. That is 14.40 calories burned per song and 7.20 calories burned per minute. Weasel earned themselves 22 out of 30 possible stars. Looks like Desolation or not, The Sweet earn the Sweetest possible honor and advance to the Vinyl Four!
( The ) Sweet: “Fox On The Run” (seriously, such a great tune!! And I LOVE the air keys, look for it about halfway...)

1 and 2 for the long asks. Hope your having a g8 day Amanda!
1. Describe your dream house:
I want ranch style / single level home 3/4 bedrooms - 2 baths. Single family, lot of acreage but not so far from civilization that getting milk and bread takes a half an hour. I wanna be in the woods/mountains but wouldn’t mind being nearby a beach either. I want a lot of flowers (esp sunflowers) and different types of trees - willows, the froot-loop tree (I always forget the real name), Japanese maples... a lot of variety. Fenced in yard (one of those wrought iron ones so you can still see out but it’ll keep animals in). I would like a really nifty pool (i am assuming cost is not a factor here btw). And I mean NIFTY. Like - an underground with waterfall features, lights, speakers, a cave-like feature and heated so I could use it all the time. A pond with koi, turtles, etc. Bird feeders everywhere.
Inside would be an absolute hodgepodge because I like so many different styles. Rustic, modern, minimalistic, cottagecore, witchy vibes, boho. I want a lot of windows though, a lot of natural light and sunshine. I want a huge fishtank with salt-water fish. I want snakes, doggos, a sheep. My Lola bee would have so much room to follow me around.
I want it cozy, not a bunch of square footage. I’ve lived in a house with unused rooms and empty spaces and it felt cold and unwelcoming. Smaller homes are more, well, homey.
I want built in Bluetooth speakers everywhere with the main control being my PC so I could pop on music and hear it clearly in any room at any time. Bathroom, Kitchen, bedrooms, I mean everywhere.
Electric fireplace because I am too scared to start fires myself and also because gathering wood is a PITA and bugs. lol
It would be decorated with things that make me happy - i dont care if it seems silly or weird or baby-ish. A basement for storage and/or additional space. And bonus if there’s a little loft area that I could use as a little relaxation space. I want a reading nook - one of those Bay window type deals with the bench in them so you can lay and read. Floor to ceiling shelves. A window-box thing I could fill with plants or decorate for the holidays. A three-season room of all windows I could use. Tho add heating and cooling and make it an all seasons room lol
OBVS central heating and cooling that can be adjusted per room to save on energy and just because some rooms tend to run hotter/colder than others depending on insulation and other factors.
A luxurious master bath - jetted jacuzzi tub, double shower with rainfall shower head as well as the standard one, double vanity. Hot water that never runs out so I can sit in the bath for as long as I want.
A wrap around porch so I could put a swing out and watch storms.
A swing in the backyard that could support my weight because I LOVE swinging and listening to music.
An area in the basement I could use for rollerblading.
A shed in the backyard with heating and cooling that I can finish up and have a desk and a daybed in - a few windows, too. So in the winter I could go outside and see the snowfall as I sit in there reading or nap. In the spring open the window and listen to birdsong. In the fall I could feel the cool breeze and see the leaves changing colors as I write. In the summer I could nap while listening to thunderstorms and the rain pounding on the roof.
That’s just off the top of my head >> lol
2. What’s your top 5 songs at the moment and why?
I actually spent some time this afternoon listening to a bunch of new music so there’s gonna be some newbies on this list (at least they’re new to me).
Way Less Sad by AJR: This is a new song for me, and it’s just... it’s just so accurate. I’ve been struggling with my depression a long, long time and recently it’s been weird. Actually, ever since 2020 it’s been weird AF, which makes sense. But I’m in a place right now where... I’m not at rock bottom. I have moments still where I am having thoughts of the big S but they’re few now. I still struggle with motivation and such, but it may be more an ADHD thing than just depression. I am finding myself digging more upbeat music rather than the emo songs I usually am engrossed in. So yeah. It’s not perfect but it’s... less.
Candy Coated Lie$ by Hot Milk: Another newbie that I discovered today but it’s super catchy and came at me while I was scrolling through the Loki tag so naturally now I am gonna be thinking of him whenever I listen to this song.
Line Without A Hook by Ricky Montgomery: It’s just sooo much fun. It’s also not got a clear hook or chorus so it lacks repetition which adds something to it that a lot of others songs don’t. The beat is great and it’s danceable (at least if you’re me - anything is) and the metaphors and imagery is great.
rosalie by BAYBE: Normally not my type of song (I’m a pop-punk/emo kinda gal) but this song is just the right mix of chill and sensual that I dig it.
Candyfloss by Neptune: It’s fun. I don’t really think this one is that deep. lol

My ranking of the songs of reputation along with a review of the song.
So before i start with this ranking i just want to say that this review is coming from a pretty neutral pov. I’m neither a fan of taylor swift nor am i a hater. 15. Look what you made me do. Honestly, Idk what was she even thinking while making this track. This may be one of the worst tracks she has ever recorded. It may have done well in the charts / broken records initially due to the hype but it fell down pretty quickly cause there is no substance. Bland lyrics, bad chorus. The music video saved it tho and made it borderline tolerable.  14. So it goes... Nothing special about it. Its basic af. Also its pretty forgettable.    13. Dancing with our hands tied Another filler track. 12. King of my heart Much of these computerized vocal effect strips the particulars and character of her voice. She has better love songs than these. This..is nothing special. 11. ...Ready for it ? Taylor swift trying to rap is cringey. The chorus is the best part of the song and the only thing that sounds like her. This song could’ve been sung by anybody. ( it sounds like a song rejected by rihanna ) It lacks that taylor swift mark.  10. End game I’m pretty sure she will release this as a single considering the collaboration being too big to fail. But that doesn’t make it any less weird. Its a really bad song  and the future verse is wasted. Also she tries to rap again and um...lets just leave it to that. 9. Gorgeous. The old taylor ain’t dead after all. This song manages to prove that. Its not a great love song but its alright. It would’ve been better in her last album. 8. Dress I’ll be very honest with you, i was way too hyped about it. Because literally everyone was like “this is way too sexy” and then i listened to it and i was just like - ...???!? Its not at all sexy. Tbh when beyonce sings sexual songs she REALLY does sound way too sexual and they turn out to be great bedroom songs ( See : Partition , drunk in love, Rocket, Blow, Naughty girl ) When rihanna does that, it sounds edgy, dark and sexy ( See: S&M , Skin ) But Taylor doesn’t know how to sound sexy and sensual. The song is borderline catchy and a lil bit romantic but it never turns sexy which is something that she definitely wanted it to be.  Also the “Ah ah ah ahhh” part makes me cringe.  7. This is why we can’t have nice things. The Bad blood of reputation but with some real shade. The references are obvious and that loud cackle is infectious. Also the reference to his broken friendship with jay z made me gasp. The whole toast to her friends, her baby, her momma and him ( *coughs* kanye ) is so damn good.
6. Don’t blame me A thick gospel vibe, catchy hook and the “my drug is my baby” reference makes it one of the best tracks of the album. It could be a potential single. Its a great track. 5. Delicate “My reputation’s never been worse, so you must like me for me” is a great lyric. This track peels back all the EDM aggression and shows real vulnerability. Also the “isn’t it isn’t it” chant is amazing.
 4. Getaway Car. Oh damn. It could easily pass off as a 1989 track but that doesn’t mean its not good. Idk why she didn’t release this as a single. This is something that i would play on repeat. It is so catchy and the lyrics are really good. No wonder its a fan favourite.  3. I did something bad The real “bad girl” track of the album. This is some hot tea. Each lyric hits the bullseye.  That frighteningly irresistible "Da-da-da-da" vocal loop, the whole blank space 2.0 persona, the witch hunt thing. Everything adds on to the charm of this track. i really hope she makes a kickass video for this.  2. Call it what you want. After three bad singles, we were blessed with this and it reignited my hope that the album may have more tracks like this. It didn’t... but the last two tracks kinda make up for it. I’ll just ignore the “trust him like a brother” part because that sounds weird but otherwise this track is honestly a blessing. You can almost hear the pride in her voice when she says “My baby”
1. New years day It’s still not on “All too well” level of lyrics. But honestly, this track is still a blessing. She saved the best for the last. Its the calm after the storm and i’m here for this track. This one is a keeper. “Please don’t ever become a stranger whose laugh i could recognize anywhere” hit me right in the feels. Overall, this album is better than 1989 but saying that its much better than red is a reach. I think people felt that way because she;s pulling off the whole mean girl persona while also remaining happy and in love unlike red which has more sad tracks tbh. But that doesn’t make it better than the fine lyrics and controlled / stripped off vocals of Red. Still, Reputation is a fine album. Better than a lot of non-fans expected after listening to the initial singles.
Ofcourse, this is just my opinion and i would love to know your opinions about this album

A totally timely and significant review of Rancid’s “...And Out Come The Wolves”
(I honestly don’t remember when I wrote this, maybe 2015. Definitely just got jacked up on something and decided that I needed to write a track by track review of an album I loved when I was a cool punk teen. It has just been sitting in my Google Drive patiently waiting to be posted.)
Tumblr media
I remember the first time I ever heard/saw Rancid was when the video for “Salvation” off of their second album “Let’s Go” premiered on MTV. Such an 80’s/90’s kid thing to do, discovering a new band by seeing a music video on TV, ugh. I thought the leather clad mohawked bad boys were amazing and perfect and so cool...that I immediately tried to spike my hair using gelatin (tru punx only) and got a leather jacket (did not look that cool and was very sweaty).  When “...And Out Come The Wolves” came out the next year (1995, I’m old AF) I was totally enamored and had found my #1 favorite album of all time (that lasted for like a year until music got better).  I was supposed to go see Rancid at a big show in Omaha, I lived in a small town called Columbus that was roughly 90 minutes away from the big city...but the day of my mom didn’t let me go because I had bad math grades.  I reacted the way any entitled white teen did, by laying in the garage and crying and playing their album.  That show wound up being a huge to-do when fans tore up seats in the venue and threw cushions at the band leading to Rancid not playing Omaha for a long time.  I missed out on some cool bad-ass punk rock shit, first world problems. Fast forward to today when I decided that I, Ian Douglas Terry, needed to write out a song-by-song review of this quintessential punk album.  I’m a real music nut, and obviously very good at structured writing...so here we go!  (Rock on)
1. Maxwell Murder - Oh boy, this one starts with like a subway train sound and then the beginning of a killer/complicated Matt Freeman bass line.  That dude SHREDS the bass, and even has a wild solo in this song.  That’s tight.  Why did they stop letting him sing?  He sounded like a fun Muppet on their first album and I loved his songs.  Maybe he wanted to focus on just shredding the bass and using tons of pomade.
2. The 11th Hour - This song is great.  It is poppy and upbeat and about a woman having dreams and demanding answers.  Hell yeah.  I love good punk music that supports women and feminism and figuring out where the power lies (spoiler alert, it starts and ends with you).  Remember how Brody from The Distillers left Tim Armstrong for the dude from Queens of the Stone Age? And then he got all fat and got a beard?  I can completely relate to that, and have been there sans beard.
3. Roots Radicals - This song RULES.  I had to look up what “Moonstompers” were and who “Desmond Dekker” was.  I remember trying to relate to this like it could somehow compare to living in a town with 20,000 people and the nicest Wal-Mart in the tri-county area.  Remember how there was that Spanish language cover of this on one of those “Give Em The Boot” comps that Hellcat put out? That was real tight.
4. Time Bomb - Hit single baby!  This had a huge hand in getting punk kids into reggae/ska for sure.  Killer organ solo, lots of rude boy shit going, I loved it so much.  Tim Armstrong totally re-used lyrics from the song “Motorcycle Ride” from the previous album...which is hilarious.  Like c’mon dawg...you should know your own lyrics.  I learned how to do the solo from this and felt like a guitar god (it is a very easy solo, like almost too easy).
5. Olympia, WA - I love songs like this that are about cities that the band isn’t from...so you have to fire up your imagination (or just read the lyrics) and be like, “What went down in Olympia, Washington????”.  Turns out it was mostly hanging out on different streets in New York and playing pinball with Puerto Ricans while wishing you were with a person who you were sleeping with in Washington.  Hell yeah, just like Shakespeare.
6. Lock, Step & Gone - Songs about docks were HUGE in my youth.  Dropkick Murphy’s had like eight songs about boys on them, and this Rancid song alludes to them.  I loved all of the blue collar, working class ideology that had nothing to remotely do with my comfortable upper middle class (not sure if that’s accurate because my parents were teachers, and like is there even a middle class any more?) life. This song definitely sums itself up at then end when it says “There’s a whole lot of nothin”.
7. Junky Man - Another theme that I could definitely relate to in a town of 20,000 people with like ten people who did meth...Junkies!  This song is pretty great because the dude from the Basketball Diaries does some sick poetry in it...that movie was nuts.  I like that song that he later wrote/sang about all the people he knew who died. The only way poetry can be cool is if the person is an insane drug addict with cool/sad stories to tell. Otherwise it is just loud diary reading.
8. Listed MIA - At this point I wholeheartedly agree with this song, “I’m checking out”.  I don’t know if I ever really liked this song or if this was just part of the “I accidentally left it playing after the first four songs that I liked were over”.  Lars says the derogatory f-word for homosexuals in it, because people called him that word...that doesn’t seem cool man.  I get that it rhymes with “maggots”, but maybe give white dudes in the Midwest less reasons to sing that word out loud.
9. Ruby Soho - This is one of the best songs ever, hands down.  It is beautiful and you can barely understand what Tim Armstrong is saying but it is wonderful.  I feel like deciphering his lyrics led me to be able to understand most speech impediments, so hell yeah.  This song is about loving someone a lot but having to leave them because it isn’t working out. This song was the blueprint for every romantic relationship I’ve ever had in my entire life so it might be a gypsy curse.
10. Daly City Train - Oh hell yeah, fun Reggae drums!  Through punk and ska I grew to appreciate Reggae, but through being bummed out about that culture’s deep seated homophobia and the fact that most of it is super repetitive and boring and for dad’s on vacation.  I’m just glad that 311 taught me to love those smooth Caribbean sounds again (oh god am I joking or am I serious, I can’t tell any more please save me).
11. Journey to the End of the Easy Bay - I can still play this bass line and was very proud of myself the first time I half-way pulled it off.  It doesn’t sound as smooth and nuanced as the way Matt Freeman plays it, but goddamn it I think that was the height of my skill as a musician.  This song rules themes about needing to belong and finding a place with people who thought and felt the same as you...and then losing it as everyone grows out of it.  This was most of my early 20’s. I grew up in a scene with similarly minded people, it eventually ended and I still have contact with some of those people but that point in my life will never be replicated. I finally belonged somewhere and was part of something bigger than me.  Now I do comedy and it is bleak, entitled, and sad and mostly alcoholics talking about their dicks.  Please take me back.
12. She’s Automatic - This is not a bad song but a very confusing way to describe a woman.  I get that it means she is effortless in “the way that she moves” but maybe I’m not giving Lars any poetic license because he looks like a guy who punched books. This woman sounds great though, and I’m sure they dated for three months.  Revisiting this and that era reminds me that I almost had sex with a girl at the first X-men movie...man, being punk ruled.
13. Old Friend - Back to the Raggae!  This song is pretty great, but they really missed an opportunity of selling this to a heartburn medicine company.  “Good morning heartache, you’re like an old friend come and see me again”...that would be perfect for a commercial of a guy eating a giant plate of lasagna and making a “Oh boy, I did it again!” face.  The Transplants sold a song to that fruit shampoo, maybe this is something I can retroactively help negotiate.
14. Disorder and Disarray -  I love when punk bands have songs about “business men” being evil and the industry being bad.  Like when Against Me were part of an Anarchist collective and then on a major label putting out really bad music.  Rancid was at least on Epitaph, which while arguably not “cool” it was at least run by a kind of punk dude who is responsible for the biggest/shittiest corporate garbage of a festival, The Warped Tour.  This song has a part towards the end where they talk to each other like David Lee Roth would do in Van Halen songs, that rules.
15. The Wars End - I get that this is a song about little Sammy being a punk rocker but at this point I think they should have admitted this album was fine with 10-12 songs and maybe some of these were super repetitive and unnecessary.  It's like you’re forcing it. I can’t imagine the dude who recorded it had a lot of fun and he probably fell asleep and was startled awake and had to pretend like he’d been paying attention the whole time.
16. You Don’t Care Nothin - This starts out with the exact chord progression from Journey To The End Of The East Bay….c’mon guys. You Don’t Care Nothin about being succinct and making your songs individual expressions of art! The themes even seem like something they’ve already gone over.  I’m going to eat some soup, brb.
17. As Wicked - Is this a different song or a weird breakdown?  Oh, it’s a different song.  Well...this soup is pretty good.  Chicken Noodle, but the chunky kind.  It isn’t amazing but it is good. I should really cook more.  Maybe I’ll order Chinese later.
18. Avenues & Alleyways - I don’t really have a problem with this song because it has the “Oi oi oi” chant that the bands I was in during High School would do and we had no idea why other than popular bands doing it.  It is very catchy.  It sounds like the other two songs were just building up to finally getting your attention back. Plus it has a breakdown with people clapping, that is always fun.  This has to be the last song right? It is the perfect last song on an album!
19. The Way I Feel -  FUUUUUUUCK!  What? Really should have ended the album on that last song, it had a good “anthem” vibe and at least wrapped this up into a somewhat sensible endeavor.  This song could have been stuck in the middle somewhere, or maybe just not recorded with about seven others?  The Way I Feel about this album is that there are some parts that hold up and are still fun to listen to, but the rest of it just seems like I’m being forced to read my own teenage diary and it is boring and sad. Nostalgia is a bummer, I can’t imagine having Rancid still be my favorite band.  I’d probably still wear a chain wallet and spiky bracelet and be one of those obnoxious old drunk weirdos I see at shows that stick out like crazy sore thumbs. Bummer dude.
Oh wow, what a journey (to the end of the east bay, am I right?)...I’m glad I was finally able to get this review out so people could finally know what this album means to me and my generation of lazy weirdos. This took me six months to write and I should be congratulated for being a journalist with tons of integrity and great taste.  True punks never die, they just eventually chill out and shop at Kohl’s.

REPUTATION Album Review
1. "...Ready for It?" / The first time I heard this song I was like “Oh no I hate this’ and then by the second & third times I was like JK THIS IS MY JAM. She’s always loved rapping and I’m so happy she’s gotten the confidence to do it herself because SHE’S SO GOOD AT IT!!! The love the lyrics in this because they’re catchy but also really creative & edgy. 7/10 2. "End Game" (featuring Ed Sheeran and Future) / LITERALLY ED WAS KILLER ON THIS!! I love how we finally get talk about her reputation in this (like literally) and even though I wasn’t a huge fan of Future, I know she loves him so this is probably a dream come true for her. The lyrics are super smart & catchy and this is a JAM 8/10 3. "I Did Something Bad" / SHOOKETH!!!! I love this song because it’s really catchy and shady but also because the bridge is SO COOL - I love the “burning all the witches” lines so freaking much - ALSO I LOVE IT SOLELY BECAUSE SHE SAYS SHIT??? AND THE CHORUS IS CATCHY AF 10/10     4. "Don't Blame Me" / This totally reminds me of 50 Shades? It’s so sultry and I LOVE the production on it - also the line where she has ‘mine’ in quotes makes me think it’s a reference to mine from speak now AM I WRONG? 9/10 5. "Delicate" / definitely not the typical track 5 song, but the production is super killer on this! also i love the pre-chorus and i love the rhythm of the chorus 7/10 6. "Look What You Made Me Do" / This will always be one of my favorites because it’s catchy but it’s also still one of the most shocking songs to date. When I listen to it I still remember the first time how ICONIC it was. It CHANGED THE GAME. And that bridge? The pre-chorus? KILLER. 9/10 7. "So It Goes..." / I don’t understand why everyone was so up in arms about Dress when this song exists??? I love the chorus but obviously it’s a little intense haha like TAYLOR GIRL I KNOW YOU GREW UP BUT CAN YOU CHILL FOR 2 SECONDS - also i freaking love when she whispers 1,2,3 into the mic it’s so great. oh and it kind of reminds me of selena gomez! 7/10 8. "Gorgeous" / Funnily enough this is my least favorite on the album? Like don’t get me wrong I love it but also it’s so tame compared to the other songs?? I still love the lyrics and THAT BRIDGE THOUGH - I could do the dings all day long too. Definitely a jam but leaves a little to be desired? 7/10 9. "Getaway Car" / ONE OF MY FAVES. When I first heard it I just screamed BLEACHERS because this song is literally a Bleachers song on so many levels - production, Taylor’s singing during the pre-chorus (aka any time she does the half screaming/vocals going up/yelling/thing that Jack does ALL THE TIME), the happiness/sadness all at once? IT’S AN ANTHEM BUT IT’S NOT ALL THAT HAPPY. I FRIKKIN LOVE JACK ANTONOFF!!!! Also the lyrics are great & it’s catchy? And the way she says GETT-UH-WAY CAR at the end of the chorus gets me EVERY TIME!! 10/10        10. "King of My Heart" / I still think this could be a contender for the jumping song during tour. But I think it’s genius because she basically mashed-up three different sounds for the whole song?? To show different parts of a relationship?? THE CHORUS IS SO HYPE and it kinda reminds me of OOTW? But I love the pre-chorus because the lyrics are so....Lana Del Rey? IDK IT’S JUST SO COOL. 8/10       11. "Dancing With Our Hands Tied" / At first I didn’t think I liked this song? But after the second time I CANNOT GET ENOUGH - the beat changes between the verse and the chorus and it’s just SO EUPHORIC! And the way she says “hands tied, hands tied” is just BREATHTAKING. Like this is one of the songs on the album that I can HEAR live - it sounds like it’s made for a stadium and I am so pumped to see it. ALSO THE BACKGROUND VOCALS AT THAT LAST CHORUS LIKE GIVE IT TO ME LIVE RIGHT NOW TAYLOR!!! 10/10 12. "Dress" / Okay so these lyrics are KILLER and I love that it isn’t just a “sex” song? It’s truly about loving someone so much that you have to have them physically (ok who else is an uncomfortable sex-repulsed ace person? JUST ME THEN OKAY HI) - i love how honest and beautiful it is too? Like you can tell she’s FELT this and it’s so real. I’M SO HAPPY SHE’S HAPPY 7/10        13. "This Is Why We Can't Have Nice Things" / Okay so this is my favorite song on the album after the first listen and I’m OBSESSED. Great chorus, killer verses, SHADY AF, the cute pre-chorus? the bridge? when she laughs? and talks? IT’S EVERYTHING I EVER WANTED EVER FROM HER 10/10        14. "Call It What You Want" / This was my favorite of the pre-release singles because 1) it’s YOU ARE IN LOVE BUT SHE’S ACTUALLY IN LOVE 2) the production is BEAUTIFUL 3) NOT BECAUSE HE OWNS ME BUT CUZ HE REALLY KNOWS ME like THE LYRICS ARE INCREDIBLE - they’re slightly shady while also totally in love?? HOW DOES THIS WOMAN DO IT!?! 10/10 15. "New Years Day" / How could I not love this song? What struck me most when I first heard it was the instrumentation - piano and acoustic guitar - which is like OPPOSITE of the whole rest of the album - and it’s so heartbreakingly beautiful. More than that, I love how the song is like...a feeling in a sound? Like when you listen to it it’s more than just words - it’s like taylor dropped you in the moodboard of her life and played you what she was seeing and feeling and hearing and touching and I can FEEL IT. More than that, I want it. Desperately. 10/10

My 100% honest opinion on REPUTATION. You
So, I haven’t post my opinión here yet because I wanted to listen to the album more times before writing this and collect everything in just one long post. I’m going to talk about every single song and then about the whole album as my conclusion. So here it goes…
1-     …ready for it?
This song came out when I was at the supermarket. I had seen the announcement on Instagram stories when I woke up but didn’t expect it to be released THAT soon. I listened to the song and was like, “what? Is Taylor really rapping? Badass! ” Then I listened carefully just to discover she was rapping about finding the love of her life lmao. The second time I listened to it I was already headbanging and jamming to it. I loved it to be honest
2-     End game ft. Ed Sheeran and Future
So when I read Eddie’s name on the tracklist I was like YAAAAAAS WE’RE GETTING EVERYTHING HAS CHANGED 2.0 but… end game wasn´t exactly what I expected. I liked it tho, but it isn’t my favorite
3-     I Did Something Bad
This song has the potential to be a single. It has a good and catchy rhythm and it’s so good lyrically talking. The fact that this song came from a dream amazes me. If I close my eyes during the chorus, I picture myself inside an action movie with spies, car crashes and fire everywhere lmao. This is a 10 out of 10 to me.
4-     Don’t Blame Me
This song is so cool. There’s some points on it where Taylor’s voice is AMAZING. I even screamed the first time I heard those notes. This makes me think of two people kissing passionately. It’s so dark and sexy.
5-     Delicate
Secret sessioners talked about this song like if it was the best song in the album so my expectatives were SO high. It has a cool storyline, the rhythm is cool and different. Her  voice is so soft and cute in here. I liked it so much.
6-     Look What You Made Me Do.
This was the first single even though it doesn’t really reflect what the album looks like. It’s so different but this is in my top 5 even though some people doesn’t like it after reputation’s release which I don’t understand. When I first listened to this song and the chorus came in I was like “wait what?”. I was expecting it like… different? You get me? But as many times I listened to the song, I liked it more and more. I think it’s so catchy and I’m so glad they chose this song as a single. Literally a 90% of the people I know have heard this song and even though some of them doesn’t like Taylor, they like this song. Even when i’m at school I see a lot of people jamming to it in there, and that makes amazes me, because i’m not american, i’m spanish, and the fact that a lot of people in such a small and familiar place like her, or that song, makes me so so happy.
7-     So It Goes…
I feel like this song is so cool and sexy too. Her voice sounds so sweet. There are some parts almost in the eng when she’s hitting those notes and OMG. I love the bridge.
8-     Gorgeous
The little kid at the beggining is too cute, you all already knew that but I had to say it. I like the storyline this song tells, how she fells in love and she feels like the person she fell in love with is impossible to get because she has a boyfriend. The *ding* it’s so cool if anyone hates it I don’t understand why, because it’s funny lmao.
9-     Getaway Car
This is probably the best song from this album DON’T FIGHT ME ON THIS. Its storyline is perfect, it’s catchy, it also has the potential to be a single, and I would be so mad if this song doesn’t get a music video. I said what I said.
10-  King of My Heart
She tells how she decided to be alone after all, but this guy came and changed her mind because of how good she was with him. This reflect her happiness to find the one she was waiting for. I don’t like the second part of the chorus THAT much. I love the message that this song transmits
11-  Dancing with Our Hands Tied
This song’s lyrics are cool and so sweet. The part I like the least is the chorus and the part that I LOVE is the bridge for sure.
12-  Dress
YES TAYLOR! This song is so so so sexy and her voice sounds so irresistible. The chorus slayed my life. When I first heard “only bought this dress so you could take it off” I screamed. I’m so in love with this song. And THE BRIDGE, the freacking BRIDGE.
13-  This Is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things
Shady af. It’s so catchy. The chorus kind of reminds me of “you’re such a” by Hailee Steinfeld. The laugh is iconic and so cute I die everytime I listen to it aw. I’m proud this was song number 13. Amazing vocals, and lyrically 13/10. No more words about this song because it talks by itself.
14-  Call It What You Want
When I heard it for the first time it happened a bit like with lwymmd and the chorus thing. “I’m doing better than I ever was” that line made me smile so big. The romance she talks about is like the one you see in movies or read in books and it’s the romance a lot of people would like to experience. The music is so good and this song is so relaxing. This is the kind of song I would cry while listening to it in my sad moments lmao.
15-  New Year’s Day
I know there’s people who have said this already but this is the perfect song to play for the first dance in a wedding, and I think this is going to be mine in the future (if my future husband says no then he can kiss me goodbye lmao). The lyrics are so beautiful. It looks like Taylor put a lot of love in this song, and her voice sounds so sweet with the piano. It’s the most emotional on the album to me. Talking with some friends we got the conclusion that this song could also be dedicated to the swifties. I cried listening to the song thinking about it.
Conclusions.
As maybe you’ve read, I repeat a lot of opinions on a lot of songs, but because it happens on every song. I feel like they all are lyrically so powerful. The bridges are so cool, the best part in some songs to be honest. It’s been a good change. From my point of view, the best thing for an artist is to change its style every some time, and there’s too many ways to do it, but it can be in a bad way, or in a way that it rises more and more. Taylor did it on the second way. I feel like she loves this album so much and I truly understand why. She needed to make this album. She put so much effort on it. It’s her baby. This album is so different. At first you can be shocked or not be used to her in this style, but I think it fits her so well and that this era will be amazing and succesful. I can’t wait to go to the Reputation World Tour (if she comes to Spain lmao). I think the staging for this tour will be amazing honestly.
Ranking.
Even though I love every single one of the songs, as everyone, I have a ranking that has cost me TOO MUCH time to do, because in some cases I can’t choose between two or three songs but… here it is:
Getaway car
This Is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things
I Did Something Bad
Look What You Made Me Do
New Year’s Day
Delicate
Dress
Don’t Blame Me
Call It What You Want
…ready for it?
Gorgeous
So It Goes…
King Of My Heart
Dancing With Our Hands Tied
End Game
I repeat once again that this is my ranking, but I live every single song in here. Hope you liked my review. @taylornation @taylorswift 🖤
