I should've thought about this sooner but I just realized the weight of what Dokja had to go through while he was stuck on that subway for tens of thousands of years.

He rewatched all of Joonghyuk's lives, yeah? Except this time, him and his companions aren't just characters in a story, they're Dokja's close friends and most cherished people in the universe and he subjected himself to a fate worse than death so they could be happy (they weren't without him, but that's another post for another day).

So this time, not only does he actually get to see the stories he read brought to life, but he also gets to see every single horrible thing that happens to them. He watches as they go through terrible tragedies and deaths, but he can't detach himself from the pain anymore. Dokja knows them as actual people and loves them all so much, watching them suffer has to tear him up inside.

His only saving grace is that there are a few of his companions that are exclusive to him, so at the very least he doesn't have to see them die
