“Totally evil alien monsters invade Earth and humans have to fight them and—” fuck that noise, here’s a concept where the protagonist befriends one of them.

Disclaimer: I did not come up with the name “xenobeast.” I just read it somewhere and felt like it’d be a fitting name for these guys.

This was done as an art trade for a DeviantArt friend. These are their two original extraterrestrial characters, locked into a devastating Duel of the Bongos.
Ink and Prismacolor pencil over watercolor.

The way you draw barghests is really inaccurate. They're small and pudgy ugly piggish looking things, not cute dog lizards like the massiffs. If you want to give your characters cute animals then pick something cute.
I dunno my dude.
Tumblr media
This looks pretty cute to me! Look at that creature! It's so round! And it's got fur! I'll guarantee there's probably some diversity among individual barghests, but then again we only ever saw one in canon I believe?
Tumblr media
Just look at that face. Look at that smile! It screams cute alien doggo lizard to me!
In other words, if you think barghests aren't cute pets get ready to be told you have poor taste.

Hello! Thought I would share a preview of an upcoming chapter on my story, Fury of the Furry, which should be posted in its entirety Saturday at the latest:
“Well, hello there.” McCoy whispered, tilting his head as he stared at the creature. Its blank stare made him nervous, but he sensed no vile intent from it. No…if anything, as he stared into the brown eyes that seemed to be getting a little warmer the longer he looked…there was a sense of play about this creature. It floated upwards a bit, allowing McCoy to see a whiskered snout along with the top of a couple of fins, and then it sorta barked at him.
And then, without any warning, it leapt forward and snagged his shirt in its teeth, wrapped its flippers around his torso, and dragged him into the water.
He could vaguely hear some startled shouts in the background, ( “Doctor!”, “Bones!”, “Leonard!” ), but then the water covered him completely and he couldn’t hear a darn thing. It had moved and snagged him so fast he’d been left in a shocked stupor for far too long; but as the water closed in around him, he finally began to fight back and struggle against the over-sized river otter that had apparently decided he made a good bath toy. The thing head-butted him when he tried to pry his shirt from its teeth, then flipped them over again and again when McCoy tried to roll himself out of its grasp…so much so that he was very dizzy now and had no idea which way was up.
Which was very bad, because he had to do something called ‘breathing air’ at some point in the very near future if he, y’know, wanted to stay alive and all.
When McCoy tried to kick out, the thing wrapped its tail around his legs, then head-butted him again and there they went, all rolly-polly again. He was getting nauseous as well as drowning; and that was a very awesome combination he’d have never really thought of, so that was nice. The second head-butt had made him lose what little air he had remaining, so drowning? Yeah, it looked like this was gonna be it for him.
Drowned by an overzealous, giant alien river otter. What was his life?

Journey into the Unknown: Benimaru and Mr. Potato Head's adventure under the covers
Benimaru and Mr. Potato Head, the two best friends ever, were spending a quiet evening at Benimaru’s house. The two, science fiction enthusiasts, had decided to organize a marathon of films of the genre. But what was about to happen would be much more compelling than any film. While they were watching the headlines on various television channels, a sudden blackout hit the city. The lights went…

@actualanxiousswampwitch suggested (and @merspots backed up) creating a star-warsy flamingo thing and my brain went in two totally directions with the idea so have both!
On the left, a beast totally unrelated to a flamingo but that has wound up with a similar body plan, it lives in tall grasslands and eats tiny little forbs and fungus that grow low to the ground but it also gets to have wings because it’s in space.
On the right, a beast whose ancestors probably resembled flamingos a great deal but after centuries of evolution has started to lose flight and instead adopted fully quadrupedal locomotion, but it’s still gotta do the whole head-upside-down-eating-tiny-shrimp thing.
I welcome suggestions for names, home planets, and further natural history details for both of them! Yes please include them in your games and stories and rp and whatever!

The name of this creature is YOTAcat or POTOOcat.
This creature is a combination of Yotaka (potoo) and cat.
His true identity is one of an alien reconnaissance unit that plans to invade the earth.
His body can change its shape at will by copying other creatures and objects.
When he came to Earth, he first tried to copy the appearance of the planet's main life form.
However, the first thing he saw there was a cat. He decided that the creature was the main life form and tried to copy the cat's form.
However, by some accident, he also copied the information of Potoo, and his body became a chimera of cat and Potoo.
What was even more unexpected for these aliens was that once they copied the earth creatures, the original spirit invaded their psyche.
His spirit was about to be taken over by cats and POTOO!
The human who found the strange creature brought it home out of curiosity. Not knowing it was a vicious alien.......

Surrealians
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Surrealians are strange, interdimensional beings with bizarre, garishly colorful appearances, and a highly capricious nature. They come from a reality of pure surrealism and zero logic, hence their name. They are believed to have reality-warping powers and are capable of creating all sorts of ludicrous feats, from the ability to create structures as big and high as they want, to creating their own people, places and things, usually for their own amusement. Surrealians can also travel from one dimension to the next and can create all kinds of absurd spectacles, making them a intriguing phenomenon for mythologists and researchers alike.
