in which Paul has a second-hand book addiction

and he's always in search of a quality second-hand bookstore

he eventually finds a hole in the wall where he gets to meet himself a love interest who happens to be the owner of said bookshop

it's all flirtatious with her offering recommendations and Paul spending a lot of his off time there just so he can spend time with her.

It's a love story that Paul deserves that improves on what he experienced with Josie where when he shares his identity with her we get a sweet moment as seen below

Suddenly feeling at a loss of what to say, he uncharacteristically stumbled over his words, “I- um, so, now that you know…does this change things? Because I would understand if they did and you would rather be friends...” he trailed off, his thoughts drifting to how thing went with Josie.

Evie leaned forward and placed a sure and steady hand over his heart, “You are Paul, the man that I met in the bookstore, nothing you have said has changed how I feel about you,” she tilted her head forward, touching the side of her nose to his, asking for permission for another kiss and he bridges the distance and brings their lips together into a sweet and tender kiss.

six sentence sunday

the thing is, this is the last snippet i share publicly from the fic™ until it gets posted as part of the @911lsbb challenge. it's done at 108,763 words, only a few loose ends to fix and then the process of proofreading. so yeah, my baby is definitely grown.

since this is the last i'll be posting about the fic™, i wanted to tag some of the people who have made this possible. you guys rock! @tarlos-spain, @noxsoulmate, @doublel27, @moviegeek03, @meloingly, @marjansmarwani, @morganaspendragonss, @alilypea, @alidravana, @ravens-words, @aliceschuyler, @laelipoo, @breannacasey and everyone in our little discord family! this fic couldn't have been done without you, and i'm so grateful for all of you.

“What’s wrong is that I don’t have an answer to give Jonah whenever he asks me about why you guys aren’t in our lives anymore,” TK replies, voice tinged with something that’s rawer than pure feeling. Carlos stares at him wide-eyed. “What’s wrong is that I wish you’d be there but I know that I fucked up and I don’t deserve you, or Leyre, or the happiness we had. What’s wrong—” he trails off for a second, looking down at his feet until he seems to muster up enough courage to look back up at Carlos, who’s entranced by the passion that oozes from TK’s words. “What’s wrong is that every morning and every night,” TK continues slowly, deliberately, as though he’s measuring every single sound that comes out of his mouth, “I lie in bed wondering why you’re not beside me. That’s what’s wrong.”

Monday Mourning

I was tagged by @marjansmarwani to post the toughest writing challenges. She commenting this being a vent session…and couldn’t agree more. So. Here we go.

1. Finding time. I know others have said this. But. With life returning to a normal, that feels busier than before, it’s been hard to carve out time to write. Some days. It’s easier to read or binge tv or game (though I still need to finish the final boss fight on Gotham Knights). Others, I fall asleep as soon as I try to relax. It’s just been busy and harder to navigate.

2. Feeling good enough. The past couple months have not been easy. I have a family member with a chronic, incurable health condition. And things keep taking turns. I can’t fix it. I also can’t fix work things that sometimes get too hard and big. So. Feeling confident has not always been easy. I’ve never been the most confident human but life has definitely taken a toll on it the last year.

3. Finishing projects. I feel like I need to complete things in order to start new things. Some stories I have fully mapped out. Others I hit a wall and got stuck.

Heart Logan’s nightmares quickly tumbled to dust in his mind, but he woke up in fear, his heart racing, like he did every morning.  

Hurt He could tell that Alex was being honest, was not trying to be mean on purpose, but the words hurt.

I finally have something to post after almost a year-long hiatus of writing. This is a companion to the post below this one.

Somehow, with the way that their lives had been trending lately, Carlos wasn’t surprised to find them in this position. Facing off with a tree that was currently the only thing stopping his car from plummeting into the ravine below.

He took a deep break in a useless attempt to quell the rising panic in his chest and reached for the only thing that might barely make a dent against his fear. TK’s shoulder was the first thing his hand connected with and that touch alone was enough to break his staring competition with the terrifying image before him.

TK, for all damage that appeared to have happened to the car, looked largely unscathed, aside from the fact that he was currently unconscious. Carlos tried to lean in closer to see his face more clearly, hoping that there wasn’t another major head injury to add to the growing list of his fiancé. He didn’t get anywhere before a searing pain low in his side stopped him from moving.

Carlos felt suddenly cold all over. Strand- "you're Chief Owen Strand's kid?" Carlos asked, tense and watching the other man closely. Cops were the worst gossips, or the best, depending on one's definition, so Carlos had unwillingly heard about the new guy quite a bit.

Strand pursed his lips, jaw tightening, and swallowed. He seemed to recover fast enough though, and merely nodded. "Will that be a problem?" He asked, and it seemed like a challenge.

That Carlos was saddled with the pretty boy rich kid, who probably only got this far because of his dad's connections? Yeah, that was a problem.

"No," he smiled, painfully fake, "no problem at all."

wip wednesday!

k so i lied last week, the big bang is not quite finished. but it will be today! so this is absolutely definitely the last snippet before posting. took me a long time to choose this one because the new stuff is mostly really spoilery but i think this one passes. enjoy :)

He’s woken again an unknown amount of time later by the sound of horses neighing. TK groans and pulls a pillow over his head, even more convinced than ever that these are, in fact, devil creatures. Carlos is definitely going to be hearing about it when he comes in from stabling them — a task he seems to be taking his sweet time in completing. If anything, they sound even closer when the next whinny comes, and TK is on the verge of screaming when the obvious finally hits him. He shouldn’t be able to hear the horses. Carlos’s uncle keeps them far enough away from the cabin for the noise to be a non-issue, so if TK can hear them now, then that means one of two things. One, they escaped — unlikely, given that Carlos is meticulous about these things. Which leaves option two: something happened to Carlos. TK doesn’t bother changing out of his sweatpants and t-shirt, only taking the time to shove his feet into boots before he’s sprinting out of the cabin. The two horses are pacing not far from the cabin door, whinnying in distress, and there’s no Carlos to be seen. Before TK can let the panic fully consume him, the horse he rode two days ago — Bella, he recalls — trots up to him and nudges him with her nose, teeth snagging on the sleeve of his shirt. “Right,” TK breathes to himself, trying to bring his focus back to the present instead of on the fact that his husband is missing. “Right, yeah.” Half in a daze, he pulls himself up onto Bella’s back. It takes a couple of tries, his shaking limbs refusing to cooperate, but as soon as he’s settled, the horse takes off, closely followed by her brother. TK hangs on and prays that he doesn’t fall — the last thing he needs is for him to have some kind of accident too — but Bella seems to understand the urgency of the situation, and reins in her behaviour from the other day. He rides for around twenty minutes before finally spotting a body lying in the grass. TK barely spares a thought for himself as he slides off Bella’s back, his foot somehow miraculously not getting caught in the stirrup, and he runs to Carlos, crashing to his knees beside him. Carlos’s eyes are closed and he’s pale and there’s so much blood, oh god— but then there’s a weak groan and TK lets out a choked gasp. “Baby,” he begs, hushed, “baby, Carlos, can you hear me? Come on, sweetheart, open your eyes for me, please.”
