The Nolan Miller collection - Sheer Illusion and Evening Illusion - were a pair of collectors edition Barbies released in the late 1990s by fashion designer and costume designer Nolan Miller, famous for his work on the TV show Dynasty.
Like a number of other collectors dolls from the era, they came packaged with a signed art piece demonstrating the fashion designer's vision for the dolls.
I really prefer the blue and black Evening Illusion to the black and beige Sheer Illusion, but I do wonder if perhaps on a person I would prefer the other.
In both cases I like the updos a lot - they aren't that complex, but they add a lot of character to the Barbies.
There are also Barbies based on characters from the TV show Dynasty, although I've never actually watched Dynasty so I don't know how much the outfits or the face design of the Barbies actually looks like those characters.
I really like the box design for both Dynasty characters - I think it's fun and interesting.

Born on this day 90 years ago (23 May 1933): haughty veteran show biz diva, stone-cold bitch goddess and camp icon Dame Joan Henrietta Collins. In the spirit of generosity, because it’s her birthday, let’s draw a veil over Collins’ unpleasant right-wing politics and support for UKIP! In terms of her trashy cinematic oeuvre, I treasure Collins’ performances in British horror schlock like Tales from the Crypt (1972) and Tales that Witness Madness (1973) and the disco-era kitsch epics The Stud (1978) and The Bitch (1979). Pictured: Polaroid portrait of La Collins by Andy Warhol, 1985.

Dynasty might be terribly scripted with insane plot lines and terrible direction, but I’m still going to miss it so incredibly much.
No more Carrington family shenanigans.
What a weird world we live in.

Hazbin Hotel Spoiler:When Lilith reunites with her family I think her return could be like Alexis Carrington’s from Dynasty, which would be iconic!
