Ok, so I love the fact that we got to see that picture of William and Sofia Jones and just like that whole scene/ending of episode 6 was just *chef's kiss*! But at the same time, I'm sad that Q, Mrs. Jones' cat, wasn't included... Just like, I love the fact that she's a total cat mom!

On a side note, Alex in the book literally thinking "Oh my God, Mrs. Jones has a really depressing life!" was really well portrayed in the show. And the way that he had to put the photo of her and her kids facing down was just such a great touch! Like, Alex couldn't stand to see Mrs. Jones in a human light because if he did, he wouldn't be able to kill her. Not that Alex could have actually killed her in the first place, let's be honest, but he still was trying to convince himself that he could/that he could play the part!

Hi!! Sorry my answer us so late, only being able to blog on weekends is really annoying at times. That's the price for being a Korean student I guess...

A. When and how did you first start reading AR?

I was 12 at the time, almost exactly, since it was summer and my birthday's in summer.

My town has an "English Library", which is just a library with a few shelf-loads of English books besides the Korean books. (tbh they have way more manhwa.)

Anyway, I was looking for something good to read, when I found a book with a glossy black spine. I pulled it out, and saw the cover was a holographic blue, with the words 'Alex Rider: Stormbreaker' written on it. Because I'm the kind of person who reads back covers, I turned it over, and instantly decided it was my kind of book. I have never regretted it. 💕

I. What are your thoughts on Ian Rider?

I think of him as an inexperienced parent. He's never had to take care of a child, even on missions, and he has *no* idea how to raise one. He tries his best, he really does, but being raised in a military family, he doesn't know what normal kids do. He thinks taking 9-year-old kids to Everest base camp is okay.

I think he tried to be a good guardian, he really did, but just didn't figure out what he was doing isn't the way. The fact that he wasn't around a lot didn't help either.

In conclusion, Jack was the queen Ian and Alex both needed in their lives, she deserves a stiff drink a big hand.

Z. Theorize on what book 13 would be about. >:3

1. Freddy and Sofia will start attending Brooklands at some point.

(They'll have to go to school eventually, and where better than the school Alex goes to?)

2. Tom will be used as bait/blackmail/whatever by Nightshade, as a playing card.

(AH says that Nightshade knew all about Alex, including his school/friends, so this one is fairly probable.)

3. Benjamin the monkey has a hidden microphone/camera in him.

(Reference: this old post I made)

4. Alex "so done" Rider with Tom "Are you going to kill them?" Harris and Freddy "My plan is to kill everybody" Gray

(Alex will 100% be absolutely paranoid that Freddy will do/say smth stupid and by stupid I mean borderline psychopathic. Tom is gonna be like "My best friend is teenage spy, not like assassin child is any weirder" and just roll with it.)

5. At least Sofia is mostly sane...*crash* *screaming in the background* ...or not

H Disney έχει βρει χρυσωρυχείο μέσα από το ίδιο της το θησαυροφυλάκιο των ταινιών κινουμένων σχεδίων και τις επαναφέρει ξανά στο προσκήνιο και είναι έτοιμη για μεγάλες επιτυχίες από το 2018 και για τα επόμενα χρόνια, χάρη στην στρατηγική της να ξαναγυρίσει τις κλασικές επιτυχίες της. Αυτό που τις κάνει να ξεχωρίζουν είναι η ποιότητα της παραγωγής τους και πιο σημαντικό ακόμα είναι το αίσθημα νοσταλγίας που νιώθει το κοινό γι’αυτούς τους αγαπημένους χαρακτήρες και ξαναφέρνει τους σινεφίλ ξανά μπροστά στα γκισέ των κινηματογράφων.

Η νέα στρατηγική της εταιρείας, είχε αρχίσει από το 2010 με την Alice in Wonderland και συνεχίστηκε με την Cinderella, The Jungle Book και Beauty and the Beast. Η επιτυχία αυτών των ταινιών ήταν μεγάλη, και οι τρεις μαζί έφτασαν σχεδόν τα 3 δις δολάρια εισπράξεις. Υπάρχει δυνατότητα να γυριστούν έως και 20 remakes, αν και αυτό θα εξαρτηθεί κατά πόσο θα ανταποκριθούν οι θαυμαστές του είδους.

Aπό την “Πεντάμορφη και το Τέρας” και το “Jungle Book” στην “Μulan” και στο “Lion King”, εδώ είναι μόνο κάποιες από τις ταινίες που έχει στα σκαριά η Disney:

1. Mulan (2019)

Μετά από μερικά χρόνια αβεβαιότητας, η Disney είχε επιβεβαιώσει πέρσι, ότι το remake της Μulan είναι στα σκαριά και ότι η παραγωγή είναι σε αναζήτηση, παγκοσμίως, Κινέζας ηθοποιού για τον κεντρικό ρόλο. Τελικά, ο ρόλος δόθηκε στην Κινέζα ηθοποιό Liu Yifei, μετά από εξαντλητικό casting περίπου 1.000 υποψηφίων και στις 5 ηπείρους. Η Niki Caro, που μας έδωσε το 2002 το Whale Rider, θα καθίσει στην καρέκλα του σκηνοθέτη για την Mulan. Όταν ρωτήθηκε αν η ταινία θα είναι μιούζικαλ, η Caro απάντησε ότι δεν έχει ληφθεί ακόμα σχετική απόφαση. Η Liu έχει εμφανιστεί στις ταινίες The Forbidden Kingdom, Outcast και The Chinese Widow, ήταν brand ambassador για την Dior, την Tissot, την Garnier και την Pantene. Η Disney θέλει να κάνει επίσης γνωστό ότι δεν θα πρέπει η δική της Mulan να συγχέεται με την παραγωγή της Sony που θα γυριστεί εξολοκλήρου στην Κίνα με Κινέζους μόνο ηθοποιούς.

2. Aladdin (2019)

Ο Sean Bailey, πρόεδρος της Motion Picture Production στα Walt Disney Studios, σε συνέντευξή του, είπε, ότι ο Guy Ritchie, που θα είναι και ο σκηνοθέτης του Αlladin, θα φέρει απίστευτα μεγάλη ενέργεια στο μιούζικαλ και σ’αυτό το remake της ιστορίας αγάπης του Alladin και της Jasmine. O Καναδός ηθοποιός Mena Massoud θα παίξει τον Aladdin και η Naomi Scott έχει πάρει τον ρόλο της Princess Jasmine. Σε ρόλο έκπληξη ο Will Smith, που θα είναι το Genie.

3. The Lion King (July 19, 2019)

Ο Jon Favreau, που το 2016 σκηνοθέτησε το remake του The Jungle Book, θα σκηνοθετήσει και το The Lion King. O Donald Glover θα είναι ο Simba και η Beyonce η Nala. Ο James Earl Jones θα είναι ξανά ο πατέρας του Simba, Mufasa, ενώ οι Βilly Eichner και Seth Rogen θα παίξουν τους Timon και Pumbaa. Το καστ συμπληρώνουν οι John Oliver (Zazu) και Keegan-Michael Key (Kamari). Το καλοκαίρι η Disney έδειξε τα πρώτα αμοντάριστα πλάνα σε ένα κοινό 7.000 ατόμων κατά την διάρκεια του Expo D23. Το βίντεο είχε στιγμιότυπα από αφρικανικά τοπία και πολλά άγρια ζώα (μαζί με ελέφαντες και λιοντάρια, φυσικά) και τελείωσε με μια εμβληματική σκηνή, στην οποία ο Rafiki συστήνει έναν αξιαγάπητο νεαρό Simba στο Pride Rock ενώ παίζει το Circle of Life. (D23 είναι επίσημο fan club της Disney που από το 2009 συγκεντρώνεται κάθε δύο χρόνια στο Anaheim Convention Center της Καλιφόρνια).

4. The Little Mermaid (TBA)

Ο συνθέτης Alan Menken με τα 8 Oscar, θα γράψει και πάλι την μουσική γι’αυτό το remake του 1989 σε συνεργασία με τον Lin-Manuel Miranda, που είχε προταθεί για Oscar για την μουσική της ταινίας Moana. H Sofia Coppola με την Chloe Grace Moretz ήταν η επιλογή της Disney για να σκηνοθετήσουν την Μικρή Γοργόνα, αλλά τελικά αποφάσισαν ότι δεν θα το κάνουν.

5. Dumbo (March 29, 2019)

Ο Tim Burton μας υπόσχεται ένα πολλά υποσχόμενο remake, μια μοναδική ιστορία για όλη την οικογένεια, σε σενάριο της Ehren Kruger (Transformers). Και οι Colin Farrell, Eva Green, Danny DeVito και Michael Keaton θα είναι οι ηθοποιοί που θα ενσαρκώσουν τους βασικούς ρόλους μαζί με τους νεοφερμένους Nico Parker και Finley Hobbins.

6. Snow White (TBA)

Οι Benj Pasek και Justin Paul του La La Land θα δημιουργήσουν νέες μελωδίες για να συνοδεύσουν το σενάριο του Erin Cressida (The Girl on the Train), γι’αυτό ίσως να περιμένετε τρομακτικά και σκοτεινά πράγματα να συμβούν. Ετοιμάζεται και μια ταινία παράλληλα με την Snow White που θα λέγεται Rose Red, η οποία θα έχει σαν θέμα της την άγνωστη, απομακρυσμένη αδελφή της. Η Rose θα είναι χαρακτήρας- κλειδί για την υπόθεση της ταινίας, και θα είναι αυτή που μαζί με τον Grumpy και την παρέα του θα σπάσουν την κατάρα και θα επαναφέρουν την αγαπημένη της αδελφή στην ζωή.

7. Pinocchio (TBA)

Η Disney πριν χρόνια είχε ανακοινώσει ότι σχεδιάζει να κάνει το remake του Pinocchio. Αλλά, μάλλον έχει αργήσει πολύ, και η Warner Bros δουλεύει ήδη το δικό της με τον Robert Downey Jr. να πρωταγωνιστεί και τον Ron Howard να σκηνοθετεί.

8. The Sword in the Stone (TBA)

Όπως και για τον Pinocchio, δεν γνωρίζουμε ακόμα πολλά για το remake της ιστορίας του BB King Arthur. Εκτός από το γεγονός, ότι ο παραγωγός-σεναριογράφος του Game of Thrones υπογράφει το σενάριο. Ας ελπίσουμε ότι ίσως αυτό θα οδηγήσει σε μια cameo εμφάνιση του Stark ή του Lannister.

9. Peter Pan (TBA)

Το remake του Jeremy Sumpter του 2003 σύντομα θα έχει διάδοχο, αν ποτέ αυτή η ταινία ξεκινήσει. Ο σκηνοθέτης David Lowery του Pete’s Dragon δεσμεύτηκε και υποσχέθηκε μια απλή προσαρμογή της ιστορίας στην μεγάλη οθόνη. Μαζί με τον Peter Pan θα έχουμε και μια bonus ταινία, την Tink, ταινία με ζωντανή δράση, βασισμένο στην Tinker Bell. Η Reese Witherspoon είχε ανακοινωθεί ότι θα παίξει την μικρή νεράιδα.

10. Winnie the Pooh (TBA)

Τον Δεκέμβριο του 2016, ανακοινώθηκε ότι ο Marc Foster ((World War Z, Finding Neverland) προσελήφθη για να σκηνοθετήσει τον Christopher Robin, μια ταινία με ζωντανή δράση που θα λέει την ιστορία του του Winnie the Poo ως ενήλικα. Η ταινία είναι βασικά μια διαφορετική, οικογενειακή εκδοχή του Ted του Seth MacFarlan, χωρίς φυσικά τα πονηρά αστεία.

Cruella (2018)

Η Cruella του Alex Timbers, με πρωταγωνίστρια την Emma Stone, δεν είναι ακριβώς remake. H ταινία θα εστιάσει σε έναν βασικό ρόλο, αυτόν της Cruella. (Η συγκλονιστική Glenn Close, στα 101 Dalmatians του 1996, είχε κάνει ένα live-action remake). Σ’ αυτή την ταινία θα μάθουμε για την ιστορία της Cruella και πώς έγινε τόσο κακούργα, ώστε να μην μπορεί να αντισταθεί σε ένα ακριβό παλτό φτιαγμένο από αθώα σκυλάκια. Και από την ερμηνεία της Emma Stone έχουμε μεγάλες προσδοκίες. Τουλάχιστον μισή ντουζίνα υποψηφιότητες για βραβεία.

Prince Charming (TBA)

Δεν είναι ακόμα σίγουρο ποιoς θα παίξει τον γοητευτικό πρίγκηπα, ούτε και άλλες πληροφορίες έχουμε, αλλά γνωρίζουμε ότι το φιλμ θα είναι μάλλον πολύ καλό. Η Mandeville Films/TV, που πρόσφατα είχε την παραγωγή του Beauty and the Beast με την Emma Watson, θα κάνει και αυτή την ταινία.

Το 2015 η Disney είχε αναγγείλει, ότι στα σχέδια της ήταν να κάνει την κινηματογραφική μεταφορά του Fantasia σε live-action, ως συνέχεια του remake του 2000, με τίτλο “Night on Bald Mountain“. Και θα είχε ως κεντρική φιγούρα ένα φτερωτό πλάσμα που θα έβγαζε τα πνεύματα από τους νεκρούς. Σκεφτείτε την Maleficent, αλλά στο πιο τρομακτικό, γιατί η Fantasia, θα μπορούσε να ισχυριστεί κανείς, ότι είναι και η πιο τρομακτική από τις ταινίες της Disney.

WARNING: Nightshade Revenge spoilers!!!

I'm honestly really bummed out that we didn't actually get to see Sofia Jones/Number 6 and only heard about her. I've said this more than once, and I'll say it a thousand times more, but all the female characters of the Alex Rider series are seriously neglected!

I feel like it could have been really interesting to have had a scene or two of Sofia and Freddy before Freddy's escape (not necessarily directly before the escape, just the general time leading up to it) where they're going over everything that they've been through or just talking about life in general. Like, I think it could have been a good foreshadowing opportunity/chance to get more insight on how much Nightshade fucked them up (obviously it's a lot, but the more we know, the more satisfying the deaths of the Teachers would've been at the end). Maybe even going over what they wanted to do after they got out of Delhi Station and how everything was going with their parents.

After Freddy's escape, a scene with Alex and Sofia going over Operation Get-Freddy-And-The-Numbers-Back-Home (new band name idea) and Sofia wanting to go but not being allowed so she forces Alex to promise to get revenge on Nightshade for her/bring back Freddy/get William and the other numbers out. Also just processing that Nightshade broke Freddy out, there are so many places to go with that!

This one is also for Nightshade. Seeing a Mrs. Jone and Sofia and/or William reunion would have been *chef's kiss*. The angst, the hurt/comfort, just all of it would have been immaculate! The emotional damage/trauma being addressed/shown would've been everything! Even more so if Sofia didn't recognize Mrs. Jones/was actively trying to escape, but for William, the photo Alex gave him was enough to jog his memory and not only did he remember Mrs. Jones, but was ecstatic to see her. Once again, a missed storytelling opportunity in my opinion.

All this being said, I like Nightshade Revenge a lot! I don't know if any of this would actually This is just me trying to make it so that my personal favorite side characters get more attention because I love them and they deserve it. In any case, this is what fanfiction is for!

I haven't found any full stories beyond "Kiss of Faith" on AO3 (obviously) and "Movie Night with the Numbers" on FFN that show Freddy and Alex (and Sofia) loving each other and spending time together. There's also this fic called '4-6 Raccoons in a trenchcoat pretending to be a functional human' on FFN, I personally have only skimmed it, but from what I could see it has chaotic(and I mean really chaotic) friendship between Alex-Tom-Freddy-Sofia and later possibly William? (The title might be a bit off, I couldn’t find the link sorry :'( )

On AO3, there's Volunteer by @trueishcolours, and uh, that's all I know really. I think there are more tumblr posts about Freddy or Sofia than there are fics, I guess we're all waiting for another book to come out so we can get a better grasp on their characters.
