1. Do you daydream a lot before you write, or go for it as soon as the ideas strike?

22. Do you title your fics before, during, or after the writing process?  How do you come up with titles?

Usually after?? I use a code title until about five minutes before posting, and then I panic trying to find a title appropriate for the fic. So, for example.... code titled "sad filth" was just sad filth until it was done and I panicked trying to find a title... and that's when I found "dressing you up, dressing you down" which is pulled from a song. Most of the time, they're lyrics pulled from a song that I listened to while I wrote, or it's from a quote on the moodboard I made for the fic. I never know what it's going to be.

33. Is there a specific word count that you hold yourself to/enjoy writing the most?

Uhhhh.... no. Not even, not even a little bit. It's always whatever the fic decides to be, usually much longer than I had originally thought or intended

55. Have you noticed any patterns in your fics?  Words/expressions that appear a lot, themes, common settings, etc?

I've talked about my love of gardens/characters gardening before, so I'll pick something else. I use the word warm and imagery associated with warmth, like fire and sunshine, when talking about feelings of love and connection, because that's what I imagine romantic love feels like??? (I'm fucking awfully aromantic so this is what I'm assuming, because that's what my platonic love feels like? People I trust make me feel all warm and fuzzy, like hot cocoa and shit, so I use that as a shorthand for love in writing???)

What she offers next is a whisper, barely discernible underneath the grief permeating her voice and the tears she can no longer keep at bay. “I said I’d dance on his grave.” The words, once released, hang accusingly in the open space between them. She loses her composure completely at this point, alternately dissolving into laughter as the memory surfaces and hiccuping sobs as last year’s half-hearted promise collides with the present.

angst is not usually my forte, but. i couldn’t stop thinking about a specific sloan line from the series finale, as referred to above. i was emotionally destroyed thinking about her reliving/replaying this memory through the lens of this new reality for her. the entire piece builds out from there. because i had sloan pretty much repeat said dialogue verbatim, i included the surrounding context.

most of my writing falls under the cute, sweet genre umbrella. but i’m particularly proud of - and heart-swelled by - the above. i couldn’t have hoped for a better connection between several of my separate, fluff-filled details. i wanted alexis and ted to end up in nyc; lennox - their daughter’s name - is a nod to all the elm mentions in SC canon; and if your pun doesn’t land correctly in an an exchange between alexis and ted, what’s the point? plus, i reallyyyyy love the novel referenced!

🪐 - name three good things going on in your life right now

It's about to snow about 30 cm (12 inches) so we might get a snow day. (work is actually going pretty well though. I'm much happier at this school even if middle school is hard).

Tiny human is doing well at his speech program and is much more interactive, in his way.

We are a week away from going on holiday to the beach! Myrtle Beach in South Carolina, which sounds touristy and pretty and apparently has a big ferris wheel. I'm excited.

Just have to make it through 4 days of work. (possibly 3 if the weather helps me out).

❄ - what's your dream theme/plot for a fic, and who would write it best?

@aleksandrachaev's Rillham plot bunnies come back from war and she writes more sexy flirting fic. (I <3 you even if you never write Michael/Laira again, just know I love it when you do).

I'm really looking forward to the part of @firedancer34's fic when Laira and Michael start dating.

I'd be thrilled if @sadmushroomgoblin wrote more Rillham.

Probably In This World of Strangers, I Belong to Someone, because it's an AU and so they can be happy and in love forever. So much so that there's a fluffy as heck sequel thing. :D

Not that I'm aware of!

*blushes forever* I have written only one M-rated fic ever and it was a CHALLENGE, you're welcome/I'm sorry.

I haven't but I want to steal the vibes of Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries and put it into a Thasmin fic. Someday. Maybe.

You know someone asked me if they could once and I thought it was spam honestly I didn't realize this was a thing? Sorry to that person!

Oh yes! to know how it ends and still begin to sing it again (as if it might turn out this time), teamed up with @eriadu-in-the-wildwood, it was awesome :D

Thasmin has taken over my life, it's fine.

15. What's a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?

I haven't published anything that I'm in the middle of, but I have many a plot bunny hopping around in my brain, I hope they all make it to the writing-and-sharing stage eventually.

16. What are your writing strengths?

Oh goodness I don't know, I think I'm pretty good at dialogue, and at some nice interior monologues and feelings.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Plotting is hard. Also I have a tendency to go on a bit, which I absolutely indulge in fic writing and perhaps should not...

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

I wouldn't ever do something lengthy, but a little snippet I could probably sneak in. Particularly if it's in French or Italian and I could be relatively confident in my ability to fact-check Google translate, heh.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

Oh was it Lord of the Rings first or Phantom of the Opera first? One of those two!

20. Favourite fic you've ever written?

Wait I have to pick one?? D: Hmmmm I think for right now I'll say falling down the stairs (of your love) because I got to fit so many things I like into one story.

Which is nice. Weird to read through almost 2 years worth of notes and think about everything that happened in my life.
