I was going to kill Klaus Mikaelson.
Unlike the other thousand people who'd probably had that thought in the last week alone, however, mine was actually justified. For hundreds of years, Nik and I had been together, happy, and in love. We'd wandered the world together, side by side, having each other's backs through thick and thin. Out of everyone in the entire world, I was the only one he'd always trusted, completely, without a doubt in mind.
And then Mikael had shown up one time too many.
Nik and I had faced him a few times, and he had firmly held the spot of 'my least favorite Original' for literal centuries. We'd always come out shaken, but fine, until about a hundred and fifty years ago. That time, he'd gotten Nik cornered, so I'd jumped in to save him. Mikael had almost killed me instead.
We'd managed to both make it out alive, thankfully, but Nik had been foaming at the mouth with nerves and fear. I'd tried to calm him down, but it hadn't worked. He'd gotten too scared, so for the first time in our entire relationship, he broke my trust. He compelled me to forget him, and to go somewhere else, far away, where I'd never be put in danger by him and his family again.
It had worked, unfortunately for me. Until recently, when something had happened to break the compulsion and bring my memories back. At first, I'd been terrified that it meant Nik had died. But, after a little investigating and compelling of my own, I realized he'd been body-hopping with the help of witches. Something about it must've shaken his compulsion loose, and allowed me to remember.
It hadn't taken me long to track him down to Mystic Falls, Virginia. I couldn't help being a little proud of myself for finding him so quickly; it helped that I knew him well. I'd arrived in Virginia last night, and managed to track down Nik's exact location and hiding place just as quickly. He'd apparently taken over the body of a history teacher at the local high school. Who would I have been to miss that opportunity?
With a little more compulsion, I'd convinced the front office staff to let me into the teacher's history class. I found a seat to one side of the classroom, then settled in to wait for Nik to show up. I almost blew my cover when, a moment later, the spitting image of Katherine Pierce walked through the door.
I knew he'd come to town for the doppelgänger, but it was still surprising to see someone who looked just like Katherine. Apparently, that lie we'd planted about the Curse of the Sun and the Moon had been working out pretty well. She sat on the other side of the room from me, flirting with another vampire and sitting with her witch friend. I sighed, already ready to leave the classroom, when Nik finally walked in.
The teacher, Alaric Saltzman, was tall, with brown hair, and dressed in something I could almost see Nik wearing normally. He strode through the open door with a "hello class" and went right to his desk like it was any other day. I snorted.
"What... are we learning today?" he mused, flipping through his history book. He hadn't looked up once; hadn't had a chance to see me yet.
"With the decade dance tonight we've been covering the sixties all week," a girl in the front chimed in. Nik looked up.
"Right. The sixties."
For the first time, he turned, and I thought his eyes might finally find me. Instead, they found the doppelgänger—Elena—like a heat-seeking missile.
Understandable, since we didn't think she existed. But still annoying.
He glanced from her to the open classroom door, then turned to the board. I huffed a sigh and rolled my eyes. What was he gonna do, just grab her and run? Much too obvious for his style, and we both knew it.
"The uh... the sixties," he started, mentioning the decade for the third time now as he turned around to write the same words on the board. "...I wish there was something good I could say about the sixties."
I covered a snort with my elbow. I almost raised my hand to say something like "Maybe they would've been better if you'd still had me with you", but that was also too sloppy for my style. Too many students asking questions, seeing me, and too many enemies possibly getting hints about Nik.
"They actually kind of sucked," Nik continued. "Except for the Beatles, of course, they made it bearable."
His eyes strayed to Elena's witch friend, and my heart squeezed in my chest. Nik was recounting memories that didn't include me, when I should've appeared in almost all of them. The hurt was only semi-manageable because I wasn't looking at the love of my life's face while hearing this, too.
"Uh, what else was there? The Cuban Missile... thing. The uh... we walked on the moon, that was, uh... Watergate."
"Watergate was the seventies, Ric," Elena chimed in with a fond smile. "Uh, I mean, Mr. Saltzman."
"Right," Nik continued, a familiar edge to an unfamiliar smile. His eyes never strayed from Elena. "It all kind of... mushes together up here. Sixties, seventies. Thank you, Elena."
I watched him teach the rest of the class in a way that could only be described as 'playing with his food'. He said Elena's name another time or two, savoring it in a way I recognized as him relishing in victory. I was happy to see him happy, but the added side effect of him being so wrapped up in doppelgänger nonsense meant that he still hadn't noticed me.
I tried not to let it get to me. Especially since it had given me the best opening I could've asked for to scare the daylights out of Nik and get just a little bit of payback.
Once the bell rang, I stood and hovered at the edge of the classroom. Nik dismissed everyone and said goodbye to the class, saying a special, specific goodbye to Elena and watching her leave. It wouldn't have been terribly obvious to anyone with no reason to suspect 'Alaric' was not who he said he was, but it was ridiculous to me.
Nik moved to the door to look out into the hallway as the classroom emptied of every single student except for me. He watched Elena go, his back to what he thought was an empty classroom, giving me exactly the opening I wanted. I crossed the room quickly but quietly, using all of my vampire skills to keep him from noticing me until I was right next to him, almost shoulder to shoulder.
"I wouldn't do that if I were you," I said, right into Nik's ear. He'd jumped and spun around at the first word, but now stood frozen, his mouth open in shock as he stared at me. I grinned. "You know, whatever you were planning to do to the doppelgänger. At school. In a human body. While she's surrounded by supernaturals. That's just a bad idea."
"Y/N..." he breathed, voice barely above a whisper. Then, he surged forward, wrapping me tight in his arms and spinning me around in a hug. He moved backwards into the classroom, and I slammed the door with my heel just to avoid any prying eyes.
Nik finally pulled back, eyes wide and a vague smile on his face, like he was happy but didn't actually believe this was real. I smiled back at him, even though he didn't quite look like my Nik, and gave his hands a reassuring squeeze.
"How... how is this possible?" he asked, his voice still quiet, like any loud noise might shatter the moment. "How are you here?"
"I still don't totally know. But I think, when you moved into this... teacher body... it was enough for your compulsion on me to break."
Nik's face fell immediately, as it should have. I frowned, the immediate happiness of finding Nik having worn off.
"I can't believe you did that to me, Nik," I said, taking a step back from him. "It was supposed to be the two of us, through everything. Against everything. No matter what. How could you betray that?"
He gave a frown of pain, taking a half step towards me before thinking better of it.
"You don't understand. My... Mikael... almost killed you. If I'd been the cause of your death-"
"Okay, first of all, you would never be the cause of my death. You know how I know? Because you would never kill me." I stared at Nik long and hard, and although he looked away from my gaze quickly, I never did. "Second, the only person who would've been the cause of my death was Mikael. You are not responsible for a bad person trying to kill me."
"Unless that bad person is trying to kill you to get to me." He said it quietly but firmly, looking up at me with a rueful smile from lowered lashes, like he'd just said some checkmate truth we'd both been avoiding. I put a hand on my hip and glared.
"Actually Nik, no, it's still not your fault. It's the bad person's fault. That's it. And before you start telling me it's your fault for dragging me into it or whatever, I could've left. I didn't want to, and I still don't want to. I've seen every level of crazy your life has to offer, and I'm signing up for all of it.
"And Nik, before you try to tell me how much you'd miss me if you lost me, you did lose me! By letting fear drive you to compel me out of your life. And I also lost you. I guess I've been generally content for the past hundred and fifty years, but I've never been totally satisfied. Because something is missing. I've known total and complete happiness, and it's whenever I'm with you. This immortal life isn't worth living without you, Nik. Don't try to tell me it is."
He stared at me for a few long moments, then pulled me to him again. Unlike the first hug, this time our feet stayed planted firmly on the ground, wrapped tight in the strong hold of each other's embrace. I sighed as Nik rested his head against mine, moving his mouth right next to my ear.
"I'm... I'm sorry, Y/N. I shouldn't have done that to you. I was just... terrified at the thought of losing you."
"I know. But Nik, we're nothing if we're not together. I need you to promise me you won't do that again. The two of us, side by side, for eternity. That's it, alright?"
He pulled away, hands holding my arms tight as he stared me straight in the eye.
"I give you my word."
Slowly, a smile spread across my face, a new warmth growing in my chest. Not once, in hundreds of years, had Nik ever broken his word to me. We were going to be okay.
He grinned back at me once he noticed my smile, then leaned in to kiss me. I stopped him, jerking back a bit, and he gave me a concerned look.
"I love you, and I am so happy to see you again, but I'm not kissing you until you're back in your own body. I have no interest in kissing this rando you've possessed."
Nik grinned, and although it wasn't his body or his smile, I swear it looked exactly like it was supposed to.
"Fair enough. I don't think I want you kissing this 'rando' either. What do you say we get out of here, and do what needs to be done so I can get back into my body, break my curse, and kiss you properly?"
"...Not in that order, right?"
"No, not in that order."
"Then deal."
Nik smiled and took my hand, giving it a gentle squeeze as we headed towards the door together. I had no idea what the next part of his plan was, but once I was caught up to speed, I knew we'd be putting it into action shoulder to shoulder again, and all would be right with the world.
"You know, you're a shit teacher," I mused as we headed off into the high school together. Nik shot me a look as he kept leading me towards whatever destination he had in mind.
"Do you remember much interesting information to teach children about the sixties?"
I shrugged. "No. But I could probably fake it better than you. Watergate."
"I was in Australia, Watergate was a low priority."
"I was in Greenland, so... checkmate."
He just shook his head, a smile finding its way onto his face all the same. I was the only one in the world Nik trusted endlessly, the only one who could find him in a matter of days no matter where he was in the world, and the only one who could get away with giving him shit with absolutely no repercussions. And now that I had him and my memories back, I was never letting him go.

[ jenny boyd | she/her ] Another face is seeking safety in New Orleans. Make sure to welcome ELIZABETH “LIZZIE” SALTZMAN to the home of the resilient. Rumor has it that they are an 19/21 year old HERETIC, who is one of the SACRIFICED but we’ll keep that a secret. They are said to be VOLATILE, but that’s all a façade to cover up their STRONG WILLED nature. We’ve heard that they can be found listening to BRUTAL by OLIVIA RODRIGO, which sums them up pretty well. Let’s hope that they can find a way to survive this harsh new world.
hello! I'm S, and I'm happy to be here! a lil disclaimer first: I've watched all of Legacies, but I'm on s2 of TO (slooow progress), and s5 of TVD (no intention to finish), so wiki will be my source for kai/gemini/etc specifics not discussed in legacies!
name: elizabeth "lizzie" saltzman
age: turned at 19, currently 21
gender: cis woman (she/her)
hometown: mystic falls
current residence: new orleans
species: heretic (vampire/siphoner hybrid)
sexuality: bisexual (w/a preference for men)
positives: authentic, passionate, daring, strong willed, empathetic
negatives: selfish, volatile, impulsive, insecure, envious
house: slytherin
alignment: chaotic good
post-canon
lizzie's canon life is pretty much the same, and can be found here!
come the end of legacies, lizzie remained with the salvatore school, helping her mother and her friends rebuild and welcome the new class
in the year following, as the OEA rose in prominence and threatened the school, lizzie still committed to the school's cause regardless, keen on not running away over a hopefully insignificant threat
unfortunately for her, the threat wasn't insignificant, and her dedication to the cause is what led to her sacrifice
she took a solo recruiting mission to visit a supposed troubled young witch in need of safe haven. it was supposed to be a low stakes endeavor, not even worthy of a proper day trip. in reality, the "troubled young witch" was working for the OEA, and what was meant to be a good Samaritan mission led to lizzie being captured, sacrificed, and trapped in the prison world
she was in there for 3 years, absolutely livid at the turn of events. the karma of the situation (or lack thereof because she was trying to be good and not run away and deal with things head on and take initiative and spread warmth and community and all that kumbaya nonsense) has led to some setbacks in her own personal growth, ngl, but she's working on that since her return
also worth noting that her time away has left her feeling just awful in general. prior to her sacrifice, she was just starting to embark on a journey of figuring out a future for her self, now that she was finally in a position of having one with the merge out of the question. but then the OEA became a thing causing trouble, and she was thrown into a prison world just as things started seriously changing in the real world. being trapped for so long stifled her and her growth, and she's come back to a world different than the one she left, all the people she's loved moved onto various different stages in their lives over the 3 years, and she hates that.
anyways, she's only just recently finally made her way to new orleans after her release, and she's got a lot of resentment at the OEA for her imprisonment, while also dealing with a lot of self-esteem issues stemming from a profound sense of aimlessness. she's doing her best to reorient herself to this new reality
relationships.
parents: alaric saltzman (daddy issues), jo laughlin (bio mom), caroline forbes (mamma's girl)
siblings: josie saltzman (twin sister)
extended family: elena gilbert & damon salvatore (aunt & uncle), stefan salvatore (ex-step dad? / uncle), bonnie bennet (aunt)
past romantic relationships: rafael waithe (ex-fling), sebastian (ex-boyfriend), ethan (crush/dated), jen (ex-fling), mg (ex-boyfriend).
more dynamics: hope mikaelson (ex-sire bond/frenemies), landon kirby (hobbit), penelope park (frenemy), auora (unlikely ally), kaleb/jed/cleo/wade (super squad)
wanted.
trapped together: lizzie spent 3 years in a prison world, she was bound to make all kinds of relationships with the people she was trapped with, and I want them all. friends in the prison world, roommates/neighbors, hookups, relationships, enemies, unlikely friends (!!!), people she worked with during her many (failed) attempts to escape, etc. and all of the above!
vampire mentor. the s2 stefan to her caroline. ideally, this is someone who was in the prison world with her. I imagine that in the year after legacies but before lizzie got trapped, she had started making decent headway into her vampirism with mg, but after getting trapped, I can def see her making it her mission to get through honing her skills totally, if only to help her get through the endless sameness of the days
baby vamps. similar to the above, except instead of a mentor, this was someone who was new to the vampire world with her, and they explored the ins and outs of vampirism together. also ideally in the prison world, likely to be a WC.
crush (m): lizzie is prone to superficial crushes, pure eye candy. it's a great distraction for her, something to pour her energy into easily, and easy is exactly what's she's looking for after being gone for so long. if anything real actually comes from it is something we can plot, but for now, this would just be someone easy on the eyes
crush (f): I hc that lizzie realized she was bi after spending time with the god Jen in s4. since this realization, she's leaned pretty hard into the exploring that part of herself loud and proud and open about it (likely to overcompensate for how out of her field/new being with women is for her), so she probs also has a fem crush too. she's likely to resemble more of her s1 rafael-era flirtation (re: awkward & rambly) with women than her smoother s3/4 semi-confidence.
fwb/fuck buddy: lizzie has got a lot of pent up frustration over her years away, and this person helps her release that. could be friendly arrangement between two peers, or just a fuck buddy who is only contacted when she's got an itch to scratch. this person, regardless of the their relationship to her, likely also is prone to hear lizzie vent her frustrations before/after (and possibly even during) sex because bb's a talker!
living situation. I imagine since her return and coming to new orleans, she's probably living with a family member (her mom most likely, maybe her sister), which is fine, but she'll eventually want to move out into her own space (she was on an independence journey away from her normal familial crutches before being trapped, after all), so potential roommates and neighbors would be fun plots.
friends. and of course, all the friends! lizzie is an extrovert who has a very hard time being alone, so she of course likes to build a community of people she can go to for all the things. shopping friends. foodie friends. gossip friends. unlikely friends. confidants. OEA revenge buddies. accountability buddies.
frenemies. and with friends, comes enemies, which lizzie is prone to making.
everything above are just suggestions off the top of my head; I'm rlly open to any and all plots for my girl lizzie! if you'd like to plot, you can reach out to me here or on discord (blodxreina)!

35 - Supernatural School
Tumblr media
Part 36
Her Life Means Everything
@mrs-fanfiction-2001 @the-big-bad-klaus @queenieala @samsgirl93
16 years later
I couldn't not let out a fit of laughter as Nik tickled me underneath the covers in our room in the compound of New Orleans. He lifted his head up letting me see his hair is the simple curly mess that I loved. "I could listen to that sound all day, Mrs. Mikaelson."
"Unfortunately we don't have all day, Nik. We promised Caroline that we would visit the school this weekend." I booped my nose with his trying to get up but he used his vampire speed, trapping me underneath him again.
He smirked proudly, twirling some of my messy blonde hair in between his fingers. "She can wait a few minutes. We have all eternity after all, Maddie." He leans down, capturing my lips with his.
"That is true for us...but not our daughters remember?" I mumbled in between the kiss suddenly vamping him onto his back smiling down at my husband.
Nik flopped on his back holding his head up on his elbow just staring at me. Climbing out of the bed I shrugged on his shirt that he had thrown on the floor from the events of last night. We decided to take some trips around the world while our kids were at the school for the young supernatural. Basically our honeymoon in a way. "Come on, Klaus. It's been a few weeks since we saw the girls. Plus I am dying to see the twins." Giving him the puppy dog eyes hoping he would cave.
"Ugh fine love...but you owe me." He grumbled vamping out of the bed getting dressed quickly like I did. I had to admit I loved vamped speed and compulsion wasn't so bad even though I didn't use it as much as he does.
Wrapping my arms around his neck he leans down kissing my forehead. "Don't worry babe. I'll make it up to you later." He rested his hands on my waist before we made the drive back to Mystic Falls. When my sister talked about opening a school to benefit the supernatural children. It took a lot of work but I am glad she decided to open it. Pulling into the driveway I closed the door seeing kids playing in the backyard of the Salvatore boarding house.
Klaus opened the door for me hearing my sister's voice coming through the hallway. "We believe in inclusive bleeding here. So outside of full moons. Vampires, werewolves and witches. All cohabite peacefully."
"Where do you keep the hybrids? In the root cellar?" My husband teasingly interrupts her leaning in the doorway.
The group of students she was giving a tour to glanced at our direction. My eyes caught sight of the Saltzman twins who both ran over to me grinning ear to ear. "Excuse me I just need one minute with this very lost new janitor. Come on Bob, Maddie let me show you the toilets." She leads us into a small office room closing the door behind me.
"Aunt Maddie!" Lizzie and Josie cheered, engulfing me each in an individual hug then did the same to Nik.
My twin and I embraced each feeling like we hadn't seen each other in forever. We sent Hope and Nikola here when they were seven years old. I trusted that my sister and Alaric had the kids' best interests at heart. "I've missed you, Care."
"Same and look at you. You're glowing. I'm guessing you're loving all the traveling now." She grinned while putting our hands together. Nik and I agreed to take some small trips around the world at least until my sister went on a secret trip on her own for the safety of the twins. She needed to find a loophole to the twins having to merge when they turned 22. Meaning that the winner would live and absorb the magic of the loser.
Throwing my head back I sighed softly to her. "Yes but I miss seeing you all. Plus Nikola and Hope we're missing us too. So it was time for me to come back home."
"And I'll accompany her wherever she wants. Always and forever." Nik declared wrapping his arms around my waist from behind. Leaning into his embrace I smiled up at him softly.
The office door opened before I got tackled in a hug by Hope. She flung her arms around my neck laughing. The Saltzman twins had left to go to their classes. Nik twirled Nikola around like she was an eight year old again. "Hello girls." Breaking the hug I glanced at my other daughter. She has my hair color and my eyes but resembles her father so much in personality.
"So how is everything?" I asked, resting my hands on Hope's shoulder. She interviewed her hand with my free one.
Nikola avoided my gaze looking towards the ground. "Lizzie has been flirting with the guy I like. And she'll probably try and take the next one..." Tilting my head to the side she got the paranoia of her father.
"I don't think I approve of you liking boys yet. And if you wished I would kill this boy because he sounds like a bloody idiot." Klaus threatened until I gave him a warning look to my husband.
My sister turned on her heels towards the door flipping her hair over my shoulder waving us onto follow. "Come on. I think it's time you get a tour."
"Actually I was thinking we would go out and have peanut butter milkshakes." Hope suggested crossing her arms over her chest.
Taking her hand in hers we drove the car to a local place in town. Getting out of the car I spin the wedding ring on my hand seeing the bench with my mother's name on it. A way to honor her service to the town. Klaus pulled up a chair for me and the four of us sat down together. "Peanut butter blast. White cream on the bottom." Whipping my head around I heard a young boy's voice reply sitting down two in front of each of our daughters.
"Thanks, Landon." Nikola replied, tucking hair behind her ear. The boy had dark curly hair when I caught a glance of him.
Hope takes a drink pointing towards me and Nik. "Oh uh - these are my parents."
Landon stuck his hand out and I shook, smiling. Sniffing the air he was obviously human so I bite my lip controlling the blood lust. "Nice to meet you Mr and Mrs..."
"Mikaelson. Maddie Mikaelson." I introduced myself by draping an arm over Klaus's shoulder. "This is their father, Klaus."
Nik cleared his throat shaking his hand but I could tell he senses something between him and one of our daughters too. "Nice to meet you mate."
"Hey uh - would you guys be interested in going to this sort of music thing tonight in the square. They do it all the time, but there's a bluesy vibe. If either of you wanted..." Landon stuttered where I felt Klaus grip my hand underneath the table not liking the sound of a possible date.
Hope sat her drink down eyeing her older sister. Purposely avoiding our gaze completely. "Oh uh about that..."
"Uh thanks Landon." Nikola piped in and I could hear the hesitation in her tone. "We actually have a family weekend planned-"
I cut her off waving my hand in the air. "Nonsense girls. Go out tonight and have fun. We have the rest of the weekend together."
"Maddie-"
Nik attempted to stop me grabbing my forearm gently but I brushed his hand off resting my elbows on the table. "They'll hang with you tonight, Landon."
"Great..I should go." Landon replied, heading back inside.
Nik glared when I flipped my hair over my shoulder smiling playfully at him. He shakes his head in frustration towards me. "I didn't approve of any dating yet. I'm gonna compel that boy." He tried to get up but I grabbed him by the end of his jacket.
"It's not a good idea for us to hang out with him tonight, mom." Hope trailed off sitting her empty drink cup down.
Nikola slumped her shoulders, sounding like Alaric. Basically making fun of him almost. "Rule number 1 no one can know who we are or what we can do. Rule number 2..."
"Don't get close with the locals." Both girls replied in unison.
Taking a long drink of my beer I sighed knowing that the taste of alcohol helps control the urge to kill. Tapping my freehand on the table a smirk crossed my lips. "Dr. Saltzman isn't either of your parents. So I say go have fun. You won't be young forever."
Nikola jumps up wrapping her arms around me squealing. "Thank you, thank you!" Hope hugs me too intertwining her sister's hand dragging her inside to talk with the local boy.
Klaus draped his arm over my shoulder where I laid my head against his chest. His blue eyes softened by just looking into mine. He moves his freehand bringing my left hand to his lips kissing it making me smile softly. "Care to know why you're letting them hang out with the rif raf,, Maddie. I thought this was our family weekend."
"You just don't like any boys talking to our daughters." I corrected him teasingly.
He waved his freehand in the air stating his reasoning to me like I hadn't already heard since the day they turned thirteen. "I simply think every boy is unfit to their standards and any who break their heart deserves to be skinned alive."
"You do realize my sister and mother thought the same about you?" I smirked playing with the dog tags around his neck.
He leans forward kissing me slowly breaking it to nuzzle my nose against his. A smile on his face that I adored. "Indeed and I charmed my way to your heart...and some days I still feel my heart skip a beat that it's real Maddie."
"Yes I know, Nik. But my sister likes to say that some girls just like the bad boys and the more sheltered they are. The more they'll chase them." Wrapping my arms around his neck I drew him in for a deep kiss. His arms snacked around my waist pulling me to sit on his lap, never breaking the kiss until I decided too. "The truth is Nik...you are much more than the fierce hybrid."
He cradles my face in his hands, kissing me passionately. I moaned into the kiss tugging on his locks. "If you keep talking like that Maddison I'll take you right here!" He growled into the kiss causing me to squeal, breaking it.
"Take me back to the mansion, Niklaus. We have the evening to ourselves after all." Tracing the tattoo pattern on his shirt I smirked to my husband. Before I could blink he vamped us back to the house and upstairs with my back hitting the mattress. I gasped grinning ear to ear seeing he had already gotten rid of his shirt.
Wrapping my arms around his neck I pulled his lips down onto mine thinking back to the night we first slept together in this bed. "I love you always and forever, Maddie." He mumbled in between kisses until I threw my head back moaning when he kissed my neck.
"Nik oh yes - I love you too." I moaned twisting my fingers in his curly blonde hair right before he tore my shirt apart, throwing our bodies underneath the covers, treating me the exact way he did the first time we made love.
Here's the beginning of Legacies
Tell me any ideas you'd like to see I really appreciate them.
Comments really appreciated ❤️

caroline forbes & josie saltzman ( @saltzitivo ) continued from here
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Josie was in her bad-witch-bitch era. Caroline knew it. So, it was a good thing that her humanity was off. It had been a while since this had happened. Honestly, she wasn't even sure why she had decided to flip that switch. Maybe it was the look on her daughter's face one day, or maybe it was a touch of mourning that she just didn't want to deal with. Whatever it was, it had happened, and she was dealing with it. Unfortunately, dealing with it meant that when Alaric supremely pissed her off that day, and she could no longer see a reason to keep him around (he wasn't a good father to her kids, and the longer they played at him being one, the worse he was getting)... she decided not to. Brows raised in curiosity as the door closed and she watched her daughter gather up magic. "Go on then. I love a show."

matt donovan was first, and she made it quick. showed him mercy where he hardly deserved it. she’s smart about it though --- wears a pair of old men’s shoes, canvases their houses before she breaks in, makes sure to keep her dna out of it. matt donovan went easy. tyler lockwood put up a bit more of a fight. alaric saltzman was the third. the most recent. and, apart from what she has planned for damon and klaus, his death was a bit of a masterpiece, if she does say so herself. there’s always a bit of a high after a fresh kill, combined with a sense of relief. vindication. justice finally served. karma coming back around. repercussions that can’t be blocked by the town council and the riches of parents. a part of her died when she was seventeen when damon salvatore first got his hands on her, why should they all not serve an equal sentence?
now that the blood is off her hands, she feels her shoulders relax. her mood brighten. her spirits lift. and while she knows that most of that can be attributed to another name crossed off her list, she knows that there’s a sizable portion that can be attributed to her. truth be told, she thought of giving it up when she met rayne. it was too risky, and the feelings between them grew so deep so fast that for a moment, caroline thought that maybe it could overtake the decade or so of turmoil that’s haunted her since back then. there is, obviously, the unfortunate situation that the very agent hunting her is the same one sharing her bed, but if anything, it almost makes things a bit more thrilling. besides, she’s not a real serial killer. she has a list. she has a plan. and once it’s done, it’ll be done. she’ll be free. she’ll be happy.
caroline finds rayne in the kitchen, her arms circling around her waist from behind as her mouth finds the back of her neck in a contented hum.  ❝ long day at work? ❞  she can always tell. like it’s a sixth sense or a thread tying them together. or maybe it’s the fact that she knew alaric’s body would be found quicker than the rest. caroline’s hands rest on either side of her girlfriend’s hips as she rests her chin on rayne’s shoulder, studying her face carefully.  ❝ this guy’s really got you rattled, huh? ❞          /          @ghostofaformerself   +   I AM SO EXCITED.

savannah miller is many things. but a liar, she is not. floribeth knows this. knows her. knows of her, really. ms miller is a lawyer for humans, superhumans and supernaturals. and there would be only one reason why doctor alaric saltzman (who, technically, isn't an actual medical professional) would have her number in his phone.
(it's not to ask her out on a date, which was what her friend wade had thought of immediately. floribeth had been quick to shoot that down: ms miller already has a significant other and, unfortunately, doctor saltzman has terrible luck when it comes to dating.)
"i know," says the younger of the two, "so please, just rip off the band-aid. how much trouble are we in? lots of parents pulled their kids out and i'm pretty sure we're about three breaths and two heartbeats away from losing our funding all together due to everything that's been going on these past few months."

As we all knew would happen (you were placing bets, right), I couldn’t stick to the plan I outlined just one day prior…and I spent a bit of time Friday night starting the “awful father Alaric sells Josie” fic. (In my defense, I’d finally come up with the opening scenes earlier that day; I’ve been mentally outlining the broad strokes of the plot to about mid-story ever since luthorbae’s fic gave me the idea, but I hadn’t yet figured out how to start it.)
It’s only ~550 words—I spent the majority of my “writing period” surveying the history of US Territories, trying to decide when and where I wanted to set the fic—but I’m happy with the start.
Would you like an (unedited) excerpt? Then read on; I think I’ll give that a shot. Thoughts?
(Also, when did we get this neat “Keep reading” feature?)
Josie Saltzman was six years, three months, and five days old when the trajectory of her life was irrevocably altered. For that was the day she first met Hope Mikaelson.
“Daddy, Daddy!” An excited cry pierced the stillness. Then a small child clothed in a cheery yellow dress and wearing a smile on her face, her brunette locks flying behind her, ran from the forest towards a small, wooden house in a clearing.
“Josie!” A bearded man, his blonde hair showing the first signs of greying, stepped outside of the house at the commotion, scooping up the small child in his arms when she reached him. “What’s the matter, sweetheart? Are you OK?”
“Who are the new neighbors, daddy?” the child inquired excitedly, barely out of breath despite her running.
“What new neighbors? Where?”
“I was out in the forest, down by the stream, and I heard trees being felled.”
“What were you doing in the forest,” the man replied, irritation rising in his voice. “You know you’re not supposed to go out into the forest, Josette; it’s not safe.”
“I was looking for birthroot,” the child beamed, ignoring her father’s scolding tone, proud of her quest for useful plants.
“Josie, you know you’re not supposed to go into the woods alone.”
“But Daddy, you never have time to go with me. You’re always busy with your books and papers, and I’m never going to find new plants staying here; I already know every plant in our clearing….”
The man released a sigh, running his hand through his hair. How did he end up with a child like Josette? He should be proud that she took after her mother and him, wanting to learn everything she could, in particular about plants and their useful and medicinal properties. But she was just too much for him to handle alone, and he had his articles to write. Sometimes he wished that they had never left the city so that he could pawn her off on one of her aunts while he completed his work. But, unfortunately, that proposition had been rendered untenable long ago.
“Can we go meet them?!” young girl asked excitedly, bouncing and grasping for his hands, breaking the man out of his thoughts. “Can we, daddy? Please?”
“I suppose, sweetie,” he relented. “It would be good to learn who has settled on the adjacent tract,” he added, more to himself than to his daughter.
“Hooray!” she replied excitedly. “Can we take them a pie, too?”
The man started to shake his head, knowing the hassle baking a pie would be—mostly to his day’s work plans; Josie was quite capable of making the pie herself, but she needed help with some of the ingredients and still should have some basic supervision. The tiny brunette, however, was persistent, and she deployed her secret weapon, a perfect pout arrayed across her cherubic lips. With an exaggerated sigh, the man finally gave in. “I suppose, sweetie. I guess we wouldn’t be very neighborly if we showed up empty-handed.”
He was Dr Alaric Saltzman, the country’s foremost expert on supernatural phenomena, with a PhD from Harvard, for god’s sake! How did he end up in the middle of the woods in the wilds of Minnesota Territory helping a six-year-old bake an apple pie?!

A Kidnapping
Word Count: 7864
Pairing: Klaus Mikaelson x Reader
Please Help me, First Turn, How About a Dance, Second Turn and Strained Bonds, A Choice is Made, Happy Birthday, Decade Dance, A Death in the Family, It Should Have Been You
Summary: You and Elena get kidnapped by a recently turned Vampire hunter Alaric and it somehow brings you and Klaus closer while also spelling the end for the creation of Hybrids.
“Hello?” You answered not really looking at your phone and tone distracted as you cradled your phone between your ear and shoulder while continuing to work on your English paper.
“How do you feel about going on a trip with me?” Klaus voice sounded over the phone causing you to stop writing as you sat back in your seat looking at the wall in front of you.
“Where would we be going?” You asked him as your gaze traveled over the photos you had pinned to the cork board. Photos of you smiling and laughing with your supposed friends at different parties and events, and of you and your mother at your middle school graduation and different birthday parties, and one of your father holding you when you were still a baby at the hospital.
“Anywhere you want love.” He answered and you hummed as you twisted around in your desk chair. Your gaze traveling away from a photo of you, Caroline, Elena, and Bonnie, to a polaroid that you’d taken with Rebekah and Kol a few weeks ago with a disgruntled looking Klaus in the background. You couldn’t help but notice that your smile was bigger in the photo of you and the Mikaelson’s than it ever was with your friends.
“Would we be the only ones going on this trip or would the rest of the Mikaelson’s be tagging along?” You asked him as you looked away completely from the photos and tilted your head back so that you were looking up at your ceiling. Klaus chuckled softly on the other end at your comment about his siblings.
“Yes, my siblings will unfortunately have to join us on our trip.” He told you and you hummed again as you nodded.
“And we would still get to go wherever I wanted even though Rebekah and Kol are coming with us?” You smirked when you heard his exasperated sigh.
“Yes. Now love please, enough with the questions.” He huffed out in annoyance and you giggled as you spun in a complete circle in your chair.
“Ok, ok, just one more question, please?”
“Fine, what is it?”
“Why are we going on a trip? I mean I get that my friends are annoying and that we just succeeded in stopping your mothers plans but going on a trip seems rather sudden don’t you think?” You commented and there was a moment of pause as Klaus thought up whatever excuse was currently floating around in that head of his.
“Alaric is alive.” Klaus stated his tone completely serious. At that you sat up straight your eyes widening as you stared ahead at your computer screen trying to process what exactly Klaus just said.
“What do you mean Alaric is alive? Damon was supposed to ensure that Alaric died last night, he shouldn’t be alive he should be dead.” You told him your mind practically reeling as you struggled to figure out why Alaric was still alive. Dr. Fell had even given him a sedative to ensure that he wouldn’t do anything, Damon had agreed to stay there and watch over him as he died, by all rights Alaric Saltzman should be dead.
“Yes well according to my darling sister he is very much still alive and very much willing to carry out my mother’s plan to end me and my siblings, that my dear is why we must run.” He explained and you shook your head as you ran your fingers through your hair.
“No, no, this doesn’t make sense there wasn’t anyone around there that would have been able to give him blood, he shouldn’t be alive.” You murmured more to yourself than to Klaus as you continued trying to think up an explanation as to why the hell he was still alive. Why the hell Esther seemed to continue to be able to fuck with all of you even though she was good and dead it just didn’t make sense. As you thought your gaze drifted up from your laptop and back to your photos, you eyes landing almost immediately on a picture of you and Bonnie dressed up as witches one Halloween. You went ramrod straight as you stared at the photo everything making sense as you stared at Bonnie. Bonnie had to be the reason that Alaric was still alive, the spirits of the witches had been nothing but pains in the asses since Bonnie had discovered them in the first place and if anyone would be more than willing to fuel Esther’s plans no matter what it would be those assholes. So it had to have been Bonnie who fed Alaric blood but the question is why didn’t Damon stop her? And did she do it of her own free will or was some magic joo joo used to get her to do it?
“Love!” You jolted out of your thoughts jumping in your seat as you were pulled from your thoughts and you focused on Klaus’ voice again.
“What? I’m sorry I got wrapped up in my head, what did you say?” You muttered as you leaned forward and rubbed at your forehead a migraine already starting to form from the information you’d possibly uncovered. This was going to be a long, long fucking day you could already tell and you already wanted nothing to do with it.
“I was just asking if you where going to come with me and my family?” There was a certain fondness to his voice as he spoke and you couldn’t help the small smile that started to appear on your face.
You would be lying if you said that the idea of running away with Klaus didn’t sound tempting especially now with knowing that Alaric was still alive and the drama that was going to follow that whole situation. But at the same time you weren’t entirely sure that you even wanted to leave. Sure on the one hand you practically had no relationship between you and your friends now and had all but been alienated from the group, and you hated it here more often than you didn’t. On the other hand though you couldn’t just up and leave this town, you had grown up here, your mother was here, all of your memories (the good and the bad) had all been made here. You couldn’t just leave it all behind for a family that, while you had admittedly grown close too over the last couple of months, you still knew relatively little about and weren’t exactly the most stable of people you had to admit. But you also weren’t finding a lot of reasons to stay that weren’t sentimental either.
“Why do you want me to come with you guys? Wouldn’t I just slow you all down? Especially when it comes to full moons?” You asked him.
“Is it not obvious love, to protect you. Alaric is going to be coming after my family and that means coming after the people that my family care about and you my dear are one of those people.” He confessed to you and you sucked your bottom lip between your teeth worrying it as you looked from the blank space on the wall that you had been looking at and towards your bedroom door.
“... What about my mother and school? Would we even be able to ever return to Mystic Falls or would we be spending our entire lives on the run?” You asked him after a short pause.
“Let me worry about your mother and there are plenty of other schools out there in the world love that we will be more than capable of getting you into. And we would only be on the run until we discover a way to kill Alaric once we have we can return here if that is what you wish.” His voice was sincere and a small grin spread across your face at his mention of we. You were silent for a moment still weighing your options as you stared ahead at your computer screen as a slight breeze blew through your room.
“Ok, I’ll come with you.” You finally told him your voice full of a resounding determination as you sat up a little straighter.
“Excellent love, I had hoped you would see things my way. I have one more stop to make before I come get you and then I’ll be over ok?” He stated and you grinned a sense of excitement over coming you as you sat up a little straighter reaching out with your free hand and shutting down your laptop.
“Alright, I’ll get packing in the mean time, I’ll see you later.” You said with a large grin on your face.
“I’ll see you later love.” And with that he hung up the phone.
Jumping up from your seat you grinned wide as you spun around to face the rest of your room excitement coursing through you at the very idea of getting to travel the world now. And sure going on the run wasn’t exactly the best reason to go traveling and it certainly wasn’t a reason to get excited over but you just couldn’t help it. You had always dreamed of traveling the world and now you were finally going to get to do it and with Klaus no less, you couldn't have asked for a better traveling companion. Between him and the rest of the Mikaelson siblings it was bound to be an interesting time even if you weren’t supposed to be on the run.
Walking away from your desk you headed towards your closet and threw open the door to it, reaching inside you pulled your duffle bag down from the top shelf before turning around to face your bed. You paused however when you saw an ornate looking wooden box sitting atop your pillow case with a small note sitting on top of it. Brow furrowing you slowly walked up to your bed, setting your duffle bag down on it, you reached out to the box picking up the note that rested on top of it.
‘To keep you safe and to protect you, in case something happens to you when I’m not there ~K’
A fond smile spread across your face as you shook your head setting the note down on your bed next to the duffle bag as you picked up the box with your other hand.
“When the hell did you find time to put this in here?” You muttered to yourself as you opened up the box your mouth falling open slightly when you saw the little glass vials filled with blood in them resting on a red velvet pillow. One of them was stamped with a cursive K on the side of the vial and the other had a cursive E meaning that Klaus had literally given you a way to willingly turn yourself into a hybrid. He’d given you a choice, he’d given you all the power in this situation, and in a weird way you were touched by his gift.
“Always got to stay one step ahead of everyone else don’t you Nik?” You asked yourself as you closed the box and placed it inside of your duffle back before moving towards your dressed and pulling open the top drawer.
“(Y/N)! Someone’s at the door can you get it for me please?!” Your mother shouted from downstairs just as you had grabbed a couple of shirts from your drawer. Huffing out an annoyed sigh you let go of the shirts and closed the drawer.
“Yeah mom!” You shouted back as you made your way downstairs, throwing open the door to see one of your classmates standing on the other side.
“Hey Thomas, what are you doing here?” You asked him your brow furrowing when you saw an apologetic look cross his face.
“I don’t want to do this (Y/N) but I have too.” Thomas stated and you tilted your head to the side as you looked at him but before you could ask him what the hell he was talking about. He was grabbing your arm and yanking you out the door his arm wrapping around your chest locking you against him and stopping you from fighting as he pressed a wet, sweet, smelling rag over your face. You screamed against the rag as you kicked against the ground trying your damnedest to fight against Thomas as his grip tightened around you and he pressed the rag harder against your mouth. You shook your head as best as you could bucking and screaming into the rag hoping that any one of your neighbors would look out their windows to see what the hell was happening. The more you fought the slower your movements became, blackness creeping in around the edges as Thomas dragged you back across your yard and towards his car. The last thing you saw before the blackness overcame you was your front door and the shadow of your mother coming around the corner.
Moaning softly you pried open your heavy eyelids as you raised your hands to your forehead rubbing at the pounding headache that had formed behind your eyes as you stared down at the familiar linoleum floor. The sound of a pained whimper coming from besides you had you looking up from the floor and towards your left, your brow furrowing upon what you saw. There sitting next to you was Caroline her hands pinned to the desk she was sitting at with pencils and a gag was tied around her mouth the distinct scent of vervain wafting off of her. Her eyes silently pleaded with you to do something as she whimpered again and on instinct you reached up to remove the gag from her mouth.
“I wouldn’t do that if I were you.” You jumped slightly whipping around to face the front of the room as you jerked your hand back from Caroline. Looking to the front of the room you watched as Alaric pushed himself off the white board that he had been leaning against, uncrossing his arms as he stepped forward.
“Bonnie’s the reason you’re still alive isn’t she?” It was more of a statement than it was a question but either way it had him smirking.
“Always straight to the point aren’t you (Y/N)?” He commented and you shrugged as you sat back in your seat.
“What can I say the whole begging and pleading with someone who’s already made up their mind was never really my stick.” You looked pointedly towards Caroline as you spoke before looking back to Alaric who was still smirking at you his arms now crossed over his chest again.
“You see that, that right there is why you were always secretly my favorite student (Y/N) you’re smart, straight to the point, a good fighter who showed so much promise… it’s such a shame that you let all that promise go to waste.” He breathed out his voice radiating disappointment and you tensed your hands balling into fists in your lap as your gaze flicked towards Caroline to see her watching on in confused pain.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” You stated making sure to keep your voice even and face unreadable as you looked him in the eye. A grin slowly spread across his face as he continued to stare back at you, waiting for you to break and impressed when you didn’t.
“Your lies may be enough to fool your friends and poor, naïve, Elena and Jeremy but not me.” His voice was low and threatening and he leaned in as he spoke, propping himself up on the desk with his hands as he continued to look you right in the eye. Muscle in your jaw twitched when you heard Caroline whimper something that sounded vaguely like your name from besides you. But still you refused to look away from Alaric not giving him the satisfaction of thinking that he had won or that he was right. However before either of you could say or do anything else Alaric was perking up his grin widening slightly as he stood up from his position.
“Ah, right on time.” He muttered and your brow furrowed as you watched him look towards the doorway.
~Klaus’ P.O.V~
“Put it out.” Stefan ordered opening the door to Elena’s house watching Klaus as he stalked up the steps a lit newspaper in one hand and a propane tank in the other a determined look on his face that quickly turned into a glare when he saw Stefan.
“Why don’t you come out here and make me.” Klaus taunted his grip tightening on the newspaper as he contemplated throwing the propane tank in the house followed by the newspaper with this opportunity that Stefan had just given him. His eyes widened just a fraction and the smirk on his face fell slightly when he watched Stefan step out of the doorway.
“Elena’s not here. Alaric has her and (Y/N) and he’s going to kill them both unless you turn yourself over to him.” Stefan stated. Klaus froze his body tensing as he stared at Stefan his eyes searching his for the lie, for the trick that Stefan had to be playing on him but when he found nothing he threw the propane tank and newspaper down on the porch.
“Now I know you’re not asking me to walk into a certain death.” He responded, his barely contained anger making his eyes have a hint of yellow as he glared at Stefan who continued to look back at him unfazed by his glare.
“As much as I wish I could say we were with a 1 in 4 odds that we go up in flames with you those aren’t odds I particularly want to play with. Especially not with Elena’s life on the line.” Stefan stated and a muscle in Klaus’ jaw twitched when he left your name out. While Klaus may have been concerned with Elena’s safety as well he was more concerned with yours and should it come down to it he would choose your life over Elena’s of that he was certain.
“I don’t know I still say we take those odds.” Damon stated as he walked out of the house carrying the piece of fence post over his shoulder and a cheeky, shit eating, grin on his face as he looked directly at Klaus who scowled back at him.
“And a hundred percent chance that Tyler dies.” Stefan shot his brother an annoyed look and Damon shrugged his shoulders as he glanced at his brother before looking back at Klaus.
“I’m good with that too.”  Damon added on smirking at Klaus who scowled at him while Stefan rolled his eyes.
“Why don’t we just figure out a way to put Alaric down, ok?” Stefan asked as he looked between the two of them and they both reluctantly nodded.
~(Y/N)’s P.O.V~
“No, no more, please, no more!” Caroline begged as she tried to move her head away from Alaric tears pooling in her eyes as she shook her head no. Sitting there silently you watched as Alaric retied the gag around Caroline’s head, your gaze flicking towards the door every few seconds. You could run now that Alaric was busy with them and let Elena plead with a man who no longer existed while you made a break for it. Your only issue was that once you made a move Alaric was sure to notice and he would be on you in a second and you weren’t strong enough nor skilled enough to take on Alaric not on your own anyways.
“Why are you doing this?” Elena asked, her voice breaking as she watched Caroline and Alaric with a tortured look.
“To make it easier on you when you put her out of her misery.” Alaric stated as he picked up the stake gesturing with it towards Caroline who whimpered around the gag, pressing against the chair she was sitting in.
“And then once you’ve killed Caroline, (Y/N) over there is going to kill Klaus when he comes to save her and his precious doppelganger.” He added on and you tensed your gaze snapping back to him at his statement. He watched you with a satisfied smirk on his face and you forced your face to remain impassive as you looked at him pointedly ignoring the painful clenching sensation in your chest.
“What?! No!” Elena shouted looking panickily between you and Caroline a couple of times before her gaze finally settled on Alaric again who was still watching you carefully. You however kept your gaze on Alaric knowing that if you looked away from him right now you would prove him right and then he would out you to Caroline and Elena, and you being outed right now wasn’t something you wanted to deal with right now.
“Isn’t this what you wanted? What you both wanted?” He paused as he looked between you and Elena his gaze settling on Elena finally.
“For me to teach you both how to hunt, to kill vampires? Well there’s a vampire Elena, kill her.” He ordered as he gestured towards Caroline with the stake and Elena’s eyes darted between the stake and Alaric trying to see if he was telling the truth or not. You on the other hand where worrying your bottom lip between your teeth as you looked away from Alaric finally your eyes coming to rest on the beaker full of vervain sitting on the desk behind Alaric.
“No. No, this… this isn’t want I wanted.” Elena all but whimpered out as she shook her head and pressed herself back against the seat of the desk, her fingers digging into the desk top.
“Of course it is, that’s what you wanted. That’s why you spent all those hours training, getting stronger, all so you could be a better hunter Elena. So you both could be. But you see the problem with the two of you is that neither of you has ever staked a vampire before, never experienced the power, the rush of the kill. Which is why you’re going to take this stake Elena and you’re going to kill Caroline and then once you’ve killed Caroline (Y/N) over there is going to kill Klaus.” Alaric stated as stopped pacing and stepped up to Elena handing her the stake. Elena shook her head as she stared at the stake like it was going to jump up and bite her and she opened her mouth to say something but before she could you were standing up from the desk causing everyone to look at you.
“I’ll do it.” You said as you held out your hand for the stake.
“What?! (Y/N) no! You can’t Car-”
“Shut it will you Elena?” You snapped at her, shooting her a glare before you looked back at Alaric who was watching you in suspicion with a hint of mild interest.
“This is what you wanted isn’t it? For us to prove that we don’t actually care about vampires? Well Caroline is my best friend not Elena’s so killing her would prove that I don’t care about vampires a lot more than it would prove that Elena doesn’t care. So why not have Elena kill Damon instead? Her killing the Salvatore brother she actually loves proves a lot more of her hate towards vampires than it does her killing Caroline.” You explained to him ignoring the sounds of protest coming from both Elena and Caroline. Alaric hummed as he tilted his head to the side examining you, listening for the lie, for the trick that you had to be playing but not finding one.
“You killing Klaus would prove that you actually intend on killing vampires instead of falling in love with them a lot more than you killing Caroline.” He countered and again Caroline and Elena made sounds of protests from behind you and you ignored them as you rolled your eyes at Alaric crossing your arms over your chest.
“And you expect me to actually trust you to possibly protect me from Klaus’ killer family much less from Klaus himself?” You responded and a proud little smirk threatened to spread across Alaric’s face as he looked at you contemplating what he was about to do next. The two of you had a little starring contest as he thought before finally he nodded his head and held out the stake to you.
“Maybe you did learn something from me after all.” He commented as you took the white oak stake from him and turned around to face Caroline. You twirled the stake around in your grip as you walked around Elena’s desk and towards Caroline who looked up at your face set in stone with wide terror filled eyes.
“Yeah maybe I did.” You muttered as you stepped up to Caroline twirling the stake one last time before you caught it the point facing Caroline who whimpered at the sight of the determined look crossing your face. Subtly Caroline shook her head as she silently pleaded with you but yous tared back emotionlessly.
“No hard feelings,” You started as you raised the stake up but before you could bring your hand down you spun around and lunged at Alaric moving to plunge the stake into his chest instead.
“Right Alaric?” You asked him when he caught your wrist with ease a confident smirk spreading across your face as you tilted your head. Alaric growled as he spun you around ripping the stake from your hand and shoving you back towards his desk and you caught yourself on the edge of the desk.
“I thought I taught you better than that (Y/N)?” He growled out his eyes turning red around the edges as he advanced towards you and your smirk grew into a full blow grin.
“Oh, you did, which is why I’m doing this.” You grabbed the beaker full of vervain as you spoke and threw it at Alaric’s face before he could do anything. Alaric let out an animalistic growl as he stumbled back away from the three of you his eyes squeezed closed as he grabbed at his now burning face.
“Run!” You shouted as you took off out of the room not bothering to wait and see if Elena and Caroline were following you. They would have people coming to save them after all and the most you could hope for was that Klaus or one of the other Mikaelsons would have learned about what happened to you and were coming to save you. You needed to save yourself while you could or else there was no telling what Alaric would do to you after the stunt you just pulled.
You raced down the hallways your stocking covered feet slipping along the floor as you slid around the corner nearly falling to the ground in the process as you scrambled to keep moving. The cafeteria, you needed to get to the cafeteria you would be relatively safe in the cafeteria. There where a lot of windows and they were all high up meaning they couldn’t be easily blocked out like a classroom, plus once there you could get out through the back door of the school and once you were outside you were home free. So you just had to get to the cafeteria and then you’d be free. At least that’s what you told yourself as you ran down the hallways hoping and praying that Alaric was busy with Caroline and Elena.
As you rounded a corner you felt a hand press itself over your mouth as an arm wrapped itself around your middle and you were being pulled back against a hard chest before you could even react. Your scream was muffled against the hand as you were pressed against the back and moved back towards the space in-between a set of lockers. Jerking your head back you tried to hit the person in the nose but your head hit air and you felt as set of lips brushing up against your ear that had a shiver running down your spine.
“Love, breathe, relax love, it’s me, you’re safe, it’s me, I’m not going to hurt you.” Klaus whispered into your ear as you stopped struggling against him relaxing back into his chest relief flooding through you at the sound of his voice.
“Nik.” Your voice was muffled by his hand and you twisted your head around to look up at him his hand following your movement needing you to remain as silent as possible.
“We have a plan to stop Alaric, but I need you to run away, get out of the building and go to the mansion. Rebekah, Kol, and Elijah will be there to protect you and make sure you get home safe. I’ll come find you when we’re done here.” He whispered into your ear, his lips brushing against your ear. Your brow furrowed as you made a sound of protest against his hand and he gave you a small smile in response.
“Go.” He ordered, pressing his lips against your forehead in a quick kiss and then he was gone before you could say anything more. You stood there for a second your forehead tingling from where his lips had touched your forehead a blush threatening to spread across your cheeks as you replayed the thing that had just happened in your head.
Shaking yourself out of it you pushed yourself out of the little alcove and took off running again following Klaus’ instruction and continuing on your trek to the cafeteria. Pushing your way out of the back door of the cafeteria you ran away from the door and towards the parking lot before stopping as you looked around. Biting your bottom lip you looked around suddenly realizing that getting to the Mikaelson mansion was going to be a hell of a lot harder than you had originally thought.
“Fuck.” You breathed out as you ran your fingers through your hair turning in a slow circle as you looked around the parking lot trying to figure out what to do now. Now would be a great time for you to have been a hybrid because then you could have just run home but oh no you just had to put off turning into a hybrid didn’t you? Sliding your fingers out of your hair you dragged them down your neck until dropping your hand to rest on your hips as you huffed out an annoyed sigh. Your fingertips brushed against something hard in your pocket and your brow furrowed, you didn’t remember putting anything in your pocket before you were kidnapped.
“What the fuck-” You stopped yourself short as you pulled a key fob from your pocket. Starring at it you blinked a couple of times before hitting the unlock button. Your head whipped around to see a car’s light blinking as it beeped signaling that it was unlocked.
“Niklaus Mikaelson, remind me to kiss your paranoid hybrid ass for needing to be five fucking steps ahead of fucking everyone.” You muttered to yourself as you shook your head absolutely impressed with Klaus’ planning ability and started jogging towards the car.
Minutes later you were jumping out of the car at Mikaelson mansion the gravel drive crunching beneath your feet and within seconds you were being greeted with the sight of three anxious looking Mikaelson siblings.
“Where is NIk? Why isn’t he with you?” Rebekah asked as she looked around you searching for Klaus like he was hiding behind you or waiting to make his grand dramatic entrance like always.
“He stayed back, he said that they have a plan to beat Alaric. I don’t know what the plan is thought he told me to run and then just disappeared.” You told them and Elijah looked at you with a furrowed brow.
“They?” He asked and you shrugged.
“He didn’t specify who but considering I had been taken with Elena and Caroline I’m assuming he means Damon and Stephan.” You said and Elijah hummed in response his face turning thoughtful as he walked stepped back from the rest of you thinking for a moment. Rebekah and Kol however were far more vocal with their displeasure towards Klaus’ plan.
“Great, just great, can’t wait to see how the Salvatores stab him in the back this time.” Rebekah muttered out her voice practically dripping with annoyance as she glared at no one in particular. You tilted your head to the side as you widened your eyes before straightening your head out and returning your face back to normal, she wasn’t wrong about that.
“Oh please, dear sister, this is Nik that we’re talking about. We all know that it’s going to take more than whatever half-cooked plan the Salvatores’ have come up with for them to be able to kill our brother. Not to mention they kill him they risk killing themselves in the process because I most certainly did not create their blood line.” Kol brought up his tone sounding slightly dismissive despite the reassuring point he’d brought up. You worried your bottom lip between your teeth as you looked away from Kol and Rebekah looking towards the ground.
“It’s not Damon and Stefan that I’m worried about.” You muttered the worry eating at your stomach as you fiddled with the hem of your shirt. The three of them fell silent as they looked at you seemingly remembering what else hid inside of the school meanwhile you couldn’t forget about what hid inside of it.
“(Y/N) why don’t we get you inside it’ll be far easier to protect you inside of the house than out here, and perhaps we’ll be able to find you a pair of shoes inside as well.” Elijah finally broke the silence and you felt your neck heat in the begging of a blush as you glanced down at your bare feet. Shifting slightly as you could now feel the rocks digging into the bottoms of your feet now that attention had been brought to the fact that you weren’t wearing any shoes.
“Yeah I didn’t really have time to grab a pair of shoes while my compelled classmate was kidnapping me.” You muttered as you started walking towards the front stairs of the mansion the Mikealsons parting like the red sea before they followed you into the mansion. Walking inside of the mansion you moved over to the stairs and sat down on the first three, leaning forward on to your knees as Rebekah came to sit besides you. Glancing over at Rebekah she offered you a reassuring smile as she reached out and grabbed your hand squeezing it quickly before letting go of you. You gave her a small smile in thanks and she smiled back at you.
“(Y/N)?” Looking around Elijah and Kol who had come to stand in front of both you and Rebekah you peered through the railing to see Tyler standing in the doorway holding a box.
“Hey Tyler.” You gave him a small wave making no move to get up from the stairs and play the part you had been playing for the better half of two months now. You were too concerned about Klaus to care right now about your façade being up.
A concerned look came across Tyler’s face when you didn’t immediately try to move towards him or get away from the Mikaelsons and he took a step towards you his grip on the box in his hand tightening. A snarl quickly replacing his look of concern as he glared at the Mikaelsons sitting beside you and standing in front of you. Kol scuffed as he rolled his eyes and crossed his arms over his chest as he gave Tyler an annoyed glare.
“Don’t you have things to be doing sire boy?” Rebekah commented from besides you the annoyance clear in her voice. Tyler took another step towards all of you and Elijah and Kol closed in taking a step towards him and causing Tyler to falter as he looked between you and the rest of the Mikaelsons again.
“What are you monsters planning to do with her? Why do you have her here? If you h-”
“Tyler just stop.” You cut him off as you rolled your eyes your voice dripping with exasperation. You were so tired and done with Tyler’s stupid mocho alpha wolf attitude when he would never be an alpha of a pack in a million years, it was tiring, and it was stupid, and you were done with it.
“Just stop… just go back to doing whatever it is Klaus ordered you too do and leave us alone. I’m perfectly safe here and I don’t need you to protect me or do whatever it is you think that you’re doing, so just leave.” You ordered him causing everyone to look at you in surprise. Though behind the Mikealsons’ eyes there was a hint of pride there in seeing you finally tell off one of your annoying friends.
“You heard the woman hybrid boy run along and finish doing as your master commands.” Kol commented as he waved his hand in a dismissive manor. Tyler glared at him snarling slightly at Kol’s commented while you fought back a smoke and looked towards the ground the corner of your lips twitching upwards.
“Gods, I am so glad that I’m going to finally be leaving this damn town behind I need a fucking break from this place.” You groaned out once Tyler was out of ear shot as you rubbed at your face. Kol, Elijah, and Rebekah all looked at you in surprise.
“You’re leaving Mystic Falls? When on earth did you decide this? And why is this the first I’m hearing of it?” Rebekah asked and your brow furrowed slightly as you looked around at the three of them taking in their shocked expressions.
“This morning when Nik called me to ask me to come with you guys when you leave, did he not tell you guys?” You asked them and they all shook their heads.
“No, in true Niklaus fashion he did not inform us that you would be coming with us.” Elijah commented his tone sounding contemplative as he observed you and you shifted nervously as you looked around at all of them again.
“Is that a bad thing? Do you guys not want me going with you?” You asked them glancing nervously between them all again and besides you Rebekah scuffed.
“Are you kidding me?! This is great! It’ll be nice to finally have another female traveling with us instead of being surrounded by these morons.” Rebekah commented as she leaned over hugging you and you grinned feeling slightly relieved knowing that at least Rebekah would be glad that you were coming with them. Before anyone could say anything else the sound of footsteps walking up the stairs reached all of your ears causing all of you to look towards the door just in time to see Klaus walking through it. Your body physically relaxed upon seeing Klaus fine and blood free in front of you and you were standing up from the steps before you could really think about it. However your brow furrowed when you saw just who Klaus was holding in his arms.
“Why do you have Elena?” You asked him as you looked from Elena’s passed out form and towards Klaus’ grim looking face.
“As it would turn out. Our dear doppelganger here is the key to killing Alaric.” Klaus said his voice sounding monosyllabic as he walked past the four of you and towards the living room. The four of you followed at him, you leading the rest of the Mikealsons as you tried to keep up with Klaus’ longer strides.
“What do you mean Elena is the key to killing Alaric?” You asked him as the rest of the Mikealsons stopped in the doorway but you continued forward a little ways wanting to be near Klaus and make sure that he actually was ok.
“It means that our mother in her innate desire to kill us has linked Alaric’s life to Elena’s so if Elena dies then Alaric dies.” He explained as he set Elena down in a chair and turned around to face all of you. Your gaze traveled over him actually making sure he was ok and breathing out a slight sigh of relief when you didn’t see any blood or rips in his shirt that would indicate that he had been attacked or in dangers way more so than usual. A tense silence fell over all of you as you all looked at Klaus and he stood there in front of you all his face still looking incredibly grim.
“Sooo… does this mean that we don’t have to leave anymore?” Rebekah asked breaking the silence and Klaus rolled his eyes already looking a hundred percent done with his sister and the corner of your lips twitched up threatening to smile at their antics despite the situation.
“Once I’ve drained her of all her blood and she dies then yes we can stay.” He answered and a large grin spread across Rebekah’s face as she clapped her hands together spinning around on the ball of her foot.
“Perfect! I’ll go tell you hybrids to start unpacking, come on boys.” Rebekah stated as she grabbed both Elijah and Kol by their hands and started dragging them out of the room leaving the two of you alone, closing the door behind them. You breathed out a brief sigh of relief before looking back to Klaus and you were moving towards him before he could say anything wrapping your arms around him you pulled him into a hug before stop you. Klaus’ body tensed in your arms before he relaxed slightly and wrapped his arms around you which in turned caused you to relax fully as well. The two of you stood like that for a few moments before you pulled away from him your face heated in a blush as you looked towards Elena to distract yourself.
“Are you actually going to go through with it? Are you really going to kill Elena?” You asked him and he sighed running his fingers through his hair as he took a step towards you feeling the need to be close to you just like you do him.
“As much as I don’t want to, I have to, if I don’t kill Elena then Alaric will never stop hunting us we will be living our lives on the run once again and that is not something neither I nor my family are eager to repeat.” He stated the reluctance clear in his voice as he looked at Elena and then towards you.
“It is also not a life you should be forced to live either.” He added on and you looked at him your eyes widening slightly in surprise as you shook your head.
“I agreed to come with you Nik, it’s a life I’m willing and ready to live so long as I get to live it with you, besides if you kill Elena what will happen to your hybrids? The blood bags you get from Elena today will only last so long before they run out.” You felt your blush grow worse as you realized what it is exactly that you just said and you refused to look fully at Klaus again, missing the small smile that he gave you his eyes shinning with an unidentified emotion.
“There will be another doppelganger whether in this century or the next thousand years, and if there’s not I will find another way to make my hybrids. I spent a thousand years finding this one, I’m sure there will be another way we have the rest of our lives to find it.” He confessed and your gaze snapped towards his a stunned silence taking over you as you absorbed what he just said. You couldn’t believe that Klaus was willing to sacrifice everything that he had worked so hard for just for you and his family, it was a move that you had never thought Klaus would make. You had always assumed that Klaus would choose Elena over you like so many other people had yet here he was not only choosing you over Elena but his family as well and you couldn’t help the grin that spread across your face.
“Yeah… yeah we do.” You told him and he smiled back at you. There was a moment of silence between the two fo you before you finally broke it huffing out a small breathe as your hands came to rest on your hips.
“Ok, so what do you need me to do?” You asked him and his grin grew as he walked up to you and his hands came to rest on your shoulders and he looked you directly in the eye.
“What I need you to do is nothing love. Go home, unpack whatever you managed to pack and find a place to keep that gift I gave you safe, ok?” He asked you and you pouted a little hoping that he would change his mind and let you stay to help in anyway that you could but when he made no move to change his mind you sighed.
“Fine.” You muttered out and he grinned before leaning forward and placing a quick kiss to your forehead.
“Good, Kol will bring you home as soon as my siblings stop listening at the door.” He let go of your shoulders and took a step back as he looked towards the door just in time to see Kol come stumbling through it. Elijah and Rebekah stood in the doorway looking anywhere but at you and Klaus trying to act like they hadn’t been listening at the door and you couldn’t help but giggle at the look on Kol’s face.
“Ready to go?” Kol asked as eh cleared his throat and you shook your head as you continued smiling at him and the rest of his siblings.
“Yeah, I’ll see you later right?” You looked back at Klaus and he nodded his head. Smiling softly at him you looked away and started walking out of the living room both Elijah and Rebekah giving you a knowing look as you past. Ducking your head you hurried past them trying to hide your blush.
“Kol.” Klaus called after him when he went to follow you and Kol rolled his eyes as he spun around so that he was walking backwards.
“Yeah, yeah, I know, I’ll stay with her until you show up or else you’ll dagger me and leave me in some basement for a thousand years, I know the drill.” Kol waved off his brother’s concern as he spun around and walked out the door following after you and tossing Rebekah and Elijah a glare as he passed them to which they shrugged in response.

Words I Will Never Forget ~ Kai Parker One Shot
Tumblr media
*not my gif
Pairing: vampire!Saltzman!Reader x Heretic!Kai
Character Name: Rosalie Saltzman
This IS a reader insert fic; I just don’t like writing with Y/N in the place of names. Use Rosalie/Rose as a placeholder for Y/N :)
Requested: No
Note: Alaric and Jo are not together for the purposes of this story.
Word Count: 4,158
Description: Kai left her four years ago, claiming he'd never loved her. Even now, she can't forget him. It doesn't matter if he didn't love her; she still loved him. Unfortunately, when a heart heals, it never heals evenly.
Warnings: not edited very carefully, ANGST (I broke my own heart when writing parts of this), minor gaslighting (in a "Really? You don't love me anymore?" kinda way <3), jealousy, mature language, SMUT (18+ ONLY), Dom!Kai, possessive!Kai, Daddy kink, fingering, praise kink, blood-sharing, and unprotected sex (be safe!)
~ Four Years Ago ~
Kai’s POV:
I saw the heartbreak dawn in her eyes. Her face remained expressionless, but her irises swam with tears threatening to spill over. One stubborn droplet made it out, leaving a trail on her cheek. As it did, I kept my expression apathetic like no part of this mattered to me – like she didn’t matter to me.
It was a miracle I was still standing. That one tear had seared into me, causing more pain than I’d ever known. Then, she spoke the words that broke me - words I will never forget.
“I don’t know why I let myself think this was real, even for one moment. You never loved me, did you?”
I can’t believe she’d believe me so easily. After all the times I’d told her how I felt, my past drowned out my words. My face was still even, and I was getting dangerously close to losing all emotion again. “No.” The lie came out without a care, and I seemed bored of this conversation.
Her eyes closed, and two more teardrops followed the lead of the first. A storm was brewing inside her, and it would either destroy her or bury me alive. I’d prefer the latter. She didn’t deserve this, but I had to do it. I did it for her. Maybe she’d understand one day.
She didn’t say another word to me. She just turned around and walked away, not sparing me a glance back. I was grateful she didn’t. She would’ve seen my composure crack, and she would’ve seen someone who was listening to every word.
“Well done, Kai.”
~ Present Day ~
Rosalie’s POV:
“Thank you, Professor Saltzman!” I raised my eyebrows as I watched yet another girl bounce out of the hall after my dad’s lecture. Smirking to myself, I approached his desk. Clasping my hands together, I fluttered my lashes obnoxiously. “Thank you, Professor Saltzman. I’d love to marry you and have your babies!” Dropping the act and my ditzy expression, I rolled my eyes. “Don’t you get tired of that?”
He laughed, swinging his bag over his shoulder. “Don’t you get tired of impersonating it?” Returning his smile, I walked along with him. “Never, it’s the highlight of my week.” I wasn’t Alaric’s daughter by blood, but that meant nothing to us. I met him fifteen years ago at his first teaching job. I was in middle school, then. My parents passed in a car accident, and Mr. Saltzman had been the trusted adult I turned to. Not wanting to see me thrust into the foster system after seeing the pain children faced within it, he took me in, and we’ve been a family since.
When he became a vampire, my dad turned me too. He'd do anything to protect me, and I’d do anything to protect him. We were all we needed.
“I hope you know you’re not getting an A on that paper just because your dad is the Professor.” Shaking my head, I unlocked my car and tossed my things in the passenger seat. “No, you’re going to give me an A because it’ll be the best-researched submission you get.”
“I bet it will be. See you tomorrow?” Alaric got into his own car, giving me a quick wave goodbye. “Sure, see you tomorrow. Bye, dad.” I didn’t live with him, but we had dinner together nearly every night. Tonight was an exception. Tonight, I was going on a date. It was my first date since… well, him.
Four years later, I couldn’t even think of his name without feeling the betrayal all over again. It took me four years to agree to go out with someone else. One thousand, four hundred, and sixty-one days to even bring myself to try. The funny thing was – the date wasn’t my idea. Caroline was in her matchmaking phase again, and I was the guinea pig.
Oh well. I had to take the plunge at some point.
~
An hour and a half later, I found myself staring at my reflection in a full-length mirror. Autumn was just around the corner, and I dressed warmly. A deep green sweater dress hugged my body, my legs covered by deep black tights. A nude, plaid patterned scarf hung around my neck, and my only other accessories were a black clutch and… the bracelet.
I slipped the bracelet off of my wrist, suppressing a deep sigh. This should have been a worthless piece of junk to me by now, but it wasn’t. It was one of the last remembrances of him that I allowed myself…
With one hand covering her eyes, Kai slipped the one-of-a-kind charm bracelet onto Rosalie’s wrist with the other. Pressing a kiss to her cheek, he watched her reaction intently as her eyes fell on the Celtic Love Knot charm. “Unending love. For two vampires, it feels quite fitting, don’t you think?”
Taking the bracelet off gingerly, I held it to my chest and took a few deep breaths. He told me he had never loved me, that it was all a game for his own twisted ends. He could say what he wanted, but he’d never get to steal my memories of him. With great care, I tucked the bracelet into a protective casing and set it on my bedside table. My wrist felt bare without it, naked and uncomfortable.
Swallowing away the choked-up emotion in my throat, I smoothed out my dress and slipped on the block heels that added a few inches to my height without making my feet want to fall off by the end of the night. With perfect timing, my date knocked on the door. Caroline refused to send me a picture but claimed I’d adore him at first sight. We’ll see about that, Care.
Opening the door with a smile, I greeted him pleasantly. I don’t know about adoring him at first sight, but he was attractive, I guess? “Hi, you must be Brandon. I’m Rosalie.”
~
This was a surprisingly nice date. Brandon was – for all intents and purposes – perfect. He was charming, funny, and compassionate. He was a medical student at Whitmore along with Elena, so he was plenty intelligent, too. I tried my best to engage in conversation with him wholeheartedly, and I was faking it ‘til I made it. He was truly a catch.
He just wasn’t a catch for me. I was too far gone to care about anyone else the way I did Kai, no matter how he felt about me.
Kai’s POV:
Of all the restaurants I could have picked tonight, she had to be on a date at this very one. Rosalie was laughing and smiling and seemed to be having a grand evening. What was I doing? Sitting alone in a corner and praying her eyes didn’t land on me.
I missed her. I missed her with every fiber of my being for every second I’d been away. Seeing her now, so close yet somehow miles away, was unbearable. What was most unbearable was none of those smiles were as bright as the ones I had memorized. None of those laughs made her eyes crinkle. I didn’t know what else had happened in the last four years, but I sure hoped I wasn’t the one who’d stolen her joy from her.
Who was I kidding? Of course, I was.
Every time I closed my eyes, I saw her broken heart out in front of me. I’d destructed it, and I did not deserve to have it again.
Fortunately, I was never one to go after what I deserved. I went after what I wanted. What I wanted was Rosalie, and I’d get her back soon enough. There was something I had to do first.
~
Knocking on the front door of Alaric Saltzman’s door, I swallowed my fear and pride both. He opened the door, and I was surprised it wasn’t slammed in my face. “I thought I told you to never show your face around here again, Kai.”
“You did, unless I did as you asked. It’s been four years, and I haven’t killed another innocent soul. I promise you.” Alaric stepped out, glaring at me. “Why should I believe you?”
“What motivation do I have to lie? You told me to break your daughter’s heart and to only return once I could prove I’m worthy of her. What else do you want me to do?”
Rosalie’s POV:
Brandon, like the perfect gentleman he was, offered to walk me back home. He truly was the perfect guy, just not for me. When we reached my apartment complex, there was an awkward moment of silence. Normally, after a good date, it doesn’t end here. Sighing softly, I looked up at him. The moon was shining down, creating the perfect romantic moment for the wrong people.
“Listen, Brandon. You’re a wonderful person, and any girl would be very lucky to have you. I just… this will probably freak you out, but you are the first person I’ve been on a date with in four years. I believe we only get one real love, and I already found and lost mine. I can’t be what you deserve.”
Brandon took a step back, tilting his head and looking at me inquisitively. “Tell you what. You let me kiss you goodnight, and if there’s nothing there, there’s nothing there. If there’s even a slight spark, we could go out again sometime?” Laughing softly, I shrugged playfully. “Oh, why not?”
I was broken-hearted anyway. If someone had a way better way to heal it, they should come and tell me. Brandon cupped my face with one hand and pressed a kiss to my lips, testing the waters. Absolutely nothing came of it. It was pleasant, I suppose, but nothing like what a first kiss is meant to be.
“Nothing, huh?” Smiling apologetically, I nodded in agreement. “Friends?” He dramatically placed a hand over his heart, faking a fall backward. “See you around, Rosalie. I hope you find what you’re looking for again.” I watched him walk off into the night, waving goodbye until he disappeared from sight.
The second my feet passed the threshold to my apartment, my knees buckled below me. My hands covered my mouth, muffling the sobs no one would hear. I knew tonight would be painful, but not this painful. I missed him so badly. He was like this incessant disease. I’d think I was cured, but it always came back to continue to destroy me.
Why did I have to love him? Why couldn’t loving someone be a choice? What was it that made me still love him, even after he’d taken a sledgehammer to my heart? How could I still love him when I lost the ability to love anyone else?
Kai’s POV:
I’d seen every moment of that. The cute banter and the kiss. I had no right to burn with jealousy, but there was no rationale for emotion. I wanted to chase after Blake or whatever the fuck his name was and tear his head clean off. Four years I’d spent fighting off violent urges, and all it took was one innocent, meaningless kiss to set me off. I craved to chase after him, but I didn’t. There was something much more important I had to attend to.
The elevator up to Rosalie’s floor couldn’t have been slower. The sound hit my ears before I even stepped away from the metal box.
She was crying.
I didn’t expect the sound to disarm me. I was nearly crippled where I stood. Each stifled sound was finding broken pieces of my heart and shattering them further and further.
You did this. Are you happy now?
No. I may have caused this, but now, I’d do anything to make sure she never shed a tear again.
With newfound determination, I stood tall in front of her door. Laying knuckle to wood thrice, I took a deep breath. “J-just a minute.” Her shaky voice sang out from behind the door, and I heard something clinking softly. Was it… jewelry? Blinking the thoughts away, I straightened up further, aching to see Rosalie again. I’d seen her earlier tonight, but that hadn’t been enough. From now on, it would never be something I’d settle for again.
The door swung open, and even her fake smile fell at the sight of me. Before she could shut the door, I grabbed the frame, stepping in and looking at her intently. Even with her hurting eyes and wet lashes, she was the most precious woman I’d looked at. She was mine.
“What do you think you’re doing?! Get the fuck out of my apartment. Right now.” She moved to shove me out the door, and I didn’t fail to notice how she faltered once her hands touched me again. “No. You’re going to listen to me.”
“I listened to everything you had to say already, Malachai. I don’t have to listen to anything else.” Realizing she was going to get nowhere with shoving me out, Rose gave up. If she was truly angry, her teeth would be gritting together. Right now, all I heard was the erratic beating of her heart and the tiniest of whimpers. My heart threatened to crack, and no matter how hard she fought, I just wanted to hold her again.
Not yet. She had to listen first. She had to know the truth.
“If you listened to me last time, you’ll listen to me again. Perhaps I wasn’t done speaking.” I met her defiant look with a stern expression that could bring her to her knees. She must have remembered it, too, because every protest about to bubble up within her was silenced. Walking towards her, not saying another word, I watched her step backward, trying to escape me.
She couldn’t escape me. She wouldn’t escape me ever again. Her back hit the wall, then, and Rosalie had nowhere else to run.
“I lied. I lied, and you believed me so easily. Even after all the times I told you how much I love you. I will never know how you managed to dredge up the broken Kai Parker and turned him into the Malachai that was always meant to love you. How many times did you hear me say that I would not be alive without you?”
Rosalie’s POV:
Trapped between the wall and Kai’s imploring gaze, I swallowed down a sob. I was dreaming, right? This had to be a dream. That was it. Maybe I passed out crying in my bed with Kai on my mind. Yep. That’s it. I’m dreaming.
But dreams didn’t feel like this. I wouldn’t pretend like I hadn’t dreamt of Kai and what we had, yet never had I heard such words of conviction.
“I-I don’t know what to believe, Malachai.” I wanted to touch his face, to feel it and know he was standing in front of me. I didn’t dare move. Half convinced this was a dream and the other half convinced Kai was a mirage, I stood still. The only allowance I gave myself was staring into the deep blue eyes I’d never forgotten.
“So, you can believe me when I lie to you but not when I’m telling you the truth?” He was nearly glaring at me. His voice was almost angry like he was frustrated with me. “I love you, Rosalie Saltzman. I love you now, I loved you then, and I will love you even when you don’t want me to.”
His voice trembled, then, and he moved to press a searing kiss to my lips. “Stop.” He froze an inch away from my lips. I could feel his breath on my cheek as I turned my head away from him. “That’s well and good for you, Malachai. But I don’t love you anymore. I’m going to ask you to leave one more time before I throw you out.” Maneuvering myself out of his grip, I headed to the kitchen.
“Really? You don’t love me anymore? Is that why you had your first date tonight, four years after I lef- after our breakup? Is that why you’re still wearing your bracelet?” The bracelet. I’d put it back on before opening the door. I couldn’t bear to be without it any longer. Ignoring him, I ripped open a blood bag and drank ravenously. Every inch of me was burning. I wanted these feelings gone. All of them. I needed them gone.
Kai snatched the blood bag from my hand and grasped my face with the other. It didn’t hurt me in the slightest, but he had that expression in his eyes again – the one that turned me into a toy in his palm. “I love you enough to know when you are lying to me.”
Grabbing his wrist, I slapped his hand from my face. “What do you want from me, Malachai? Was it not enough to break me into a million pieces before you left? Was it not enough that I couldn’t stop loving you, no matter how much I wanted to? Why the fuck can’t you leave me alone?! Why did you have to make me love you this much?!”
He was done listening to me, then. His arms wrapped around me, crushing my body against his. His lips found mine again, complete after years. Every emotion and sensation – anger, desperation, sadness, desire, love – formed a potion and poured over us both. It ran its course, and there was no stopping it now. Kai hoisted me upwards, and my legs wrapped around his waist as if it were still second nature.
“You are mine. You have been mine and you will always be mine.” This time, the conviction in his voice didn’t frighten me one bit. I was his and he was mine. I believed him. I trusted him. I would never doubt his love for me again.
Malachai carried me over to our bed. He hovered over me, not daring to break our kiss for even a fraction of a second. His hands pinned mine above my head. “Tell me you love me. You have no idea how much I’ve wanted to hear it.”
I did know. I knew because I dreamed of hearing it again more than I would admit. “I love you…” Sometimes, the three words were more powerful alone, without any embellishments. Here, they were in their purest form – unadulterated and unaltered.
“I love you, too.” Our lips met again, and when the kiss ended, he didn’t move away. His lips trailed lines of fire along my neck, searing me and reminding me what it meant to be his once more. He moved not like he hadn’t been with me in years; he moved like he already knew every inch of me and was simply claiming what was his.
With deliberate slowness, he removed my dress and other articles of clothing, taking the time to fold them and place them on my bedside table, highlighting that anything happening in this room tonight would happen at his command.
Kai removed his jacket and shirt then, revealing his skin to me. I almost begged to touch him. While I lay in near nudity, he was only half exposed, once again reinforcing his position.
Was he aware of my mind at this moment? Though I lay beneath him, my body in his hands, did he know how free I felt? Every touch, every teasing flick of his finger, every nibble upon my ear told me how much he loved me, and that was gift enough.
His words changed, then. No longer were they words of sweet declarations of love. They were words dripping with lust and unfulfilled desire, and I knew he had me, then. He had all of me, and he knew it, too.
“Do you remember who I am to you, baby girl?” As the words hung heavy in the air, Kai’s teeth clamped onto the waistband of my panties. His eyes never left mine, and the hunger shining in his irises set me aflame. “Yes…”
“Yes, what?” His fingers hovered over my body, desperate to touch me but waiting until he had me exactly where he wanted me. “Yes, Daddy.” His growl of approval echoed out into the room, and Daddy’s fingers finally sank into me. My hips bucked up off the bed, immediately. For so long, I’d only pleasured myself. Here he was, playing with my body like he owned it and knew exactly what to do.
His fingers pumped in and out of me in a steady rhythm, and his lips never left my torrid skin. They found heaven everywhere on me – my neck, my breasts, my stomach – all while his fingers rocked into me. “Good girl. Still so responsive for Daddy. Daddy’s so proud of you, princess.”
Both of his hands were intent on driving me to climax, and soon, his finger flicked against the center of my ecstasy. He teased my clit until it was sensitive and throbbing, ready to bring me over the edge at any second. “Do you want to cum for Daddy, baby girl?”
I was seeing stars already. My nails dug into his back, leaving ravenous marks of pleasure across him. “Yes, Daddy! Please let me cum! I need it, Daddy, please!”
Kai’s POV:
I would have normally chuckled at the state I’d gotten her in, but not tonight. Tonight, I understood more than ever that this was her love and unfounded trust in me. I would never break it again. “Cum for Daddy, princess. Cum for Daddy right now!” As I commanded her release, my fingers curled against her g-spot, massaging her orgasm out of her.
“There you go, such a good fucking girl. You can cum for Daddy as many times as you want tonight, baby. You have my permission. Just let go and let Daddy love you.” Waiting until her vision cleared up and her heart calmed a little, I sucked her juices from my fingers. She tasted just as exquisite as I remembered.
I didn’t have any more patience left in me. Scooping her up in my arms once more, I moved so that I lay just behind her. Lifting her leg to position my aching cock between her soaking pussy lips, I nibbled at her ear. “Do you want Daddy inside you, baby?”
She nodded rapidly, and I excused it for now. Tonight wasn’t about any strict rules; tonight was about finally loving her again. With tender patience, I slid inside her. My princess hadn’t slept with anyone else in these past few years, and neither had I. She was my little slice of heaven, and I was so grateful to have found it again.
“Ohhh, fucking hell. Daddy missed his princess so much.” It wasn’t just the sex I missed. Of course not. I missed everything she is and everything she will be. I missed her, every part of her. “I-I missed you, too, Daddy! I love you so much!” Gripping her face and turning it towards me, I crashed my lips to hers desperately. Our tongues danced together. No amount of closeness was close enough.
I made love to her for hours and hours, not wanting to see the sheer rapture in her eyes come to a close. As dawn began to break and we were wrapped up in each other, our mouths found each other’s necks. Sinking my teeth into her flesh, I drank from her, filling myself up with the essence of her from the inside out. She, too, craved me as much as I craved her. We wouldn’t dare let go again.
~~~
I woke around noon. Rosalie was still fast asleep, and even in sleep, she clung to me desperately, as if afraid I’d disappear. I wouldn’t disappear. I wouldn’t leave her ever again. She had me. She had everything I was and everything I would ever be. Pressing a tender kiss to her head and disengaging from her, I slipped into her kitchen. I still understood how she organized her things and found items with ease.
I had just finished setting up a breakfast tray when I heard her scream my name from the room. Dropping everything, I ran using my supernatural speed, worried beyond belief. “What happened? I’m here, Rosalie. I’m here. What’s wrong?” Whimpering softly, she crawled into my lap. I worried at the sound, taking the blanket and wrapping it around us both. “What’s wrong, baby?”
“I thought you weren’t really here…” Oh. Closing my eyes for a brief moment, I swallowed back the guilt. Now was not the time. “I’m here, princess. I’m here, and I will never leave you again.”
Moments of heavy silence passed, and Rosalie continued to hug me as if I’d disappear. Then, she broke the silence, speaking words I will never forget.
“I love you, Malachai.”
That concludes yet another one of my Kai Parker One Shots! I actually flipped a coin to see if this piece would get a happy or sad ending. Thank GOD it landed on a happy ending because I think a sad ending would have destroyed me for a week. (The sad ending was that their reunion was truly a dream...)
Please feel free to send any thoughts/comments/constructive criticisms my way. I always welcome them :) If you'd like to be tagged in future Kai Parker works, feel free to message me/leave a comment here.
If you liked this story, feel free to check out my other stories from my Malachai Parker Masterlist (pinned to the top of my profile).
Milton 'MG' Greasley X F!Reader
Word Count: 1180
Requested: Anon
Request: Can you write a story or reader being sired to mg? Mg had no idea of readers feelings and it makes things awk cause she hid it for so long. Female reader.
Tumblr media
You didn't have anything against being a vampire, in fact, you were glad that MG had saved you because you didn't want to die, the part that you hated was that the nature of vampires had literally outed you. You had what you thought was a crush on MG before you were turned into a vampire but it seemed that you, it was more than that and your love for him and turned into an unbreakable bond, when he asked or told you to do something you had an indescribable urge to follow whatever he said. Professor Alaric had noticed it first and had asked to talk to you both, when he explained what was going on you saw the way that MG looked at you and so you decided that the best thing for you to do was to stay away from him, maybe that was the only way to weaken the bond.
That obviously didn't work and before you knew it you were feeling worse than ever, you stayed in your room and kept yourself to yourself, you went to lessons and left as soon as it was over. Everyone was starting to worry, Alaric knew what you were doing and decided that he had to come and talk to you about it "(Y/N)?" He asked as he knocked on your door. "Yeah!" You answered, you still refused to open the door but you didn't want to panic them any further. "I need to talk to you would you mind coming out?" He asked. "I have a lot of work to do, I can talk to you afterwards." You said as you looked at the door before going back to fiddling with your fingers, they had moved you into your own room when you had become a vampire so that you could learn control without hurting anyone. "(Y/N) I know what your doing, it's not going to work." He said softly, your hands clenched into fists as you rolled your lips into your mouth to try and stop yourself from audibly crying, unfortunately with your new powers you felt everything 10x more than you would have before and that meant that everything made you cry although this time some would say that you were justified. "You saw the way that he looked at me, you were there, this is better than having to see him look at me like that every time that I leave this room, he never liked me anyway, he's been trying to get with Lizzie since he saw her." You dismissed him. "Lizzie?" Alaric asked "That is an issue for another day. (Y/N) you can't keep yourself locked up in this room, your going to be alive for a very long time." "You think that means that I have to be here?" You asked. "All I need to do is learn control." "(Y/N) you're not just a witch anymore, you are a vampire, there is so much more involved, your strength, your emotions, your senses everything has changed you can't just learn control inside a room on your own," Alaric argued and you glared at the door. "Look I'll be fine, just leave me alone." You mumbled as you pulled your covers over your head hoping to drown out everything.
Alaric had just gotten back to his office when he noticed MG outside "Professor Saltzman!" He called when he realised that he was down the hall. "Have you seen (Y/N)?" "Why are you looking for her?" He asked. "Well I haven't seen her around I wanted to make sure that she was okay, you know that she was getting enough blood-" "You're worried about her?" Alaric asked, MG nodded. "I haven't seen her and I know that the change can be difficult-" "That's not the part that she's finding hard MG." Alaric interrupted again. "What are you talking about?" He asked. "Do you remember when I talked about the type of bond that you both had?" He asked as he gestured for MG to follow him into the office. "Yeah." MG nodded. "She thinks that you were devastated about it, that you didn't want it to be her." You explained and you looked at him and smiled. "She left before I could say anything and I didn't know if she wanted to talk about it so I just waited but she never came to talk to me." MG answered, "where is she?" "She's in her room." Alaric answered, "be careful MG, you know what happens if she turns off her emotions." "I hope it doesn't come to that," MG said as he turned to leave the room. "And one last thing!" Alaric called. "Yes?" MG asked. "What's this about you and Lizzie?" He asked. "I um... I really don't think this is the time." MG said as he rushed out of the office heading to where you were.
There was another knock at your door and you groaned as you looked at it "What?" You asked. "(Y/N)?" MG called through the door and it was in the moment that you realised that your plan hadn't worked at all because your heart still skipped a beat with you heard him say your name and you still waited for his next suggestion. "I haven't seen you in a while." "I've been busy." You answered. "(Y/N) can you-?" "MG please don't." You pleaded as tears filled your eyes again, your body moving despite your mind not wanting to do anything that he told you to. "(Y/N) please open the door." He said his voice was just as broken as you and you hated your body for moving in a second to open the door, he was right there, you could touch him but instead, you're gripped your own trouser leg to stop yourself. "I haven't seen you around, I had to make sure that you were okay." "Why what does it matter?" You asked, there was alarm on his face as he looked over you taking your face in his hands, you didn't know what he was thinking but before you knew it he had pressed his lips to yours. "I swear I was devastated because you love me, I promise, I just realised that I had done to you what Lizzie had done to me and I realised after you disappeared that you were the first person that I looked for in a room, I stopped thinking about Lizzie because I was thinking about you." He said softly. "You-" "I'm sorry that I didn't talk to you sooner." He said softly. "You mean that?" You asked. "Every word." He confirmed. "Did you say something to Professor Saltzman about Lizzie?" "I... Oh yeah sorry about that." You apologised before he started to pull you out of your room. "Let's go get something to eat and just hang out." He suggested. "Are you asking me on a date?" You asked your body following him. "Yeah, I am." He smiled, linking your arms as you smiled and moved closer to him.
Requests and general question!
4x08: You Will Remember Me
Josie is in the therapy box as Dr. Saltzman. She works at the Mikaelson Memorial hospital. And I think Ethan, MG, & Lizzie had a little threesome? Okay, okay.
Hope finds the woman who has called her called her and been looking for her. She is the witch and before Hope can get the information she wants, the witch burns alive.
Alaric, Landon, and Ted think of ways to get the coin. Alaric needs to atone for his past mistakes in order to be able to leave. This proves to be difficult as he has a lot of mistakes.
Dr. Mikaelson may have a rare genetic condition that will cause her to lose her job. Josie is not about to let that happen. She gets Landon (who acknowledges that they were a thing once) to give her access to these files that a fellow intern such as herself does not have access to. Josie discovers that Hope does not have CMT and therefore was misdiagnosed. She tells Ted this and he tells her Hope can stay. However, she cannot. Unfortunately, in the end, it turns out Hope does indeed have CMT and was taking medication to cover it up.
Cleo tells MG about the tree that can kill Hope. She tells him that she refused to give Lizzie inspiration as she fears she is not thinking clearly. MG tells Cleo that he thinks she should burn the tree because killing someone (especially a friend) is not a line he will cross. Cleo agrees and burns the tree. What the two don't know is that Ethan and Lizzie were invisibly there and heard everything.
NO WAY. No way. But yes way because as someone on Twitter predicted, Aurora is back. She is the vampire part of this new Triad and may I say she looks as fine as ever. SHE HAS THE BLADE OF PAPA TUNDE. Aurora was not fast enough to use it (lowkey unfortunately because I wanted to see how that panned out) and Hope snaps her neck.
Awh, Hope and Josie are having a little heart-to-heart. Well, it's mostly Josie telling Hope that she can't keep living up to people's expectations. This has caused her not to live a life of her own. Josie crying makes me sad but she still looks good while doing it.
"Sometimes doing the right thing means people calling you a villain."- Lizzie
Umm, witches can do a spell that is essentially compulsion?
Landon talks to Ric about how he doesn't regret the events that led up to his death. Now that he and Hope have accepted their fate, he doesn't know what he's supposed to do now.
Aurora switches bodies with Hope and Cleo tells Lizzie the truth. Josie returns to the real world but does not look happy.
Next week as crazy as it is, is the midseason finale! Of course, Aurora will be sticking around so it'll be nice to revel in an unexpected familiar face. Stay safe my loves!
damn all these party goers be looking FINE, am I right? I mean, look at the Nichols, for starters, but literally everyone is looking good
You are most certainly not wrong. Everyone do be looking fine.
Those Nichols ladies really got it going on, maybe share your secrets ladies? Let the rest of us in on how to be so flawless while also being badasses 24/7? (Kiera, love, if things don't work out well between you and Bexy give me a call, eh?) Can we also talk about how flawless Liv is looking? Girl was dead and yet here she is outshining all of us with that sassy attitude to boot.
The men certainly didn't fail to please either. Alaric Saltzman as Indiana Jones? Yes please, I'll take 12 of him. And Nico with those short shorts that were, unfortunately, a thing of the 80s? Thank you sir for giving us a reason to love them.
This was written for @klarosummerbingo. Canon-ish AU in which Klaus pretends to be Alaric to spy on the dimwitted Mystic Falls gang. But he didn’t count on a clever blonde distraction...
Prompt: Sexy summer secret
Student Engagement
           The Bastille in the early 18th century had been a fetid pit of fear, where one waded in ankle-deep human waste while listening to the prisoners’ piteous wails. Klaus once had the misfortune of hiding from Mikael in the vermin-infested, subterranean cells of the Bastille. And it still didn’t prepare him for the nightmarish scenario of teaching high school history. Maddox had handily cast the spell so that he could embody a trusted member of the doppelganger’s circle. Unfortunately, this meant Klaus was trapped temporarily within mediocre flesh.
           He hadn’t given much thought to the tedious existence of Alaric Saltzman, but now that he was faced with the mundane details, he lamented his missing fangs to the point that he started grinding his borrowed teeth to soothe his beast. It should’ve been a simple exchange with the principal’s head servant, but instead it spiraled hopelessly out of control. Apparently, in addition to meager pay and enduring psychological abuse on par with the Stanford Prison Experiment, teachers were expected to toil away in a gymnasium hanging tasteless dance decorations. The peasants had revolted for far less in 1381.
           Klaus barely restrained himself from leaping over the desk to throttle this petty minion of public school administration. Once he was able to reclaim his true form, Klaus vowed to feed Mildred her liver. For now, he would satisfy his bloodlust by smashing those ridiculous ceramic frogs on his lunchbreak.
           He marched into his classroom with a scowl as he tugged self-consciously on his wrinkled jacket. Was it some dreadful polyblend? Canvas? How did humans live like this? Ignoring the vacant expressions of Alaric’s students, he lazily slid his gaze across the room to find his doppelganger.
And then he saw her
. She sat next to his doppelganger, commanding the room with little more than a raised brow and a bladed smile.
Mate? Y/N was Jed’s mate? How in the actual hell was that even possible?
“No, no there’s no way. Mr. S, there’s no way Y/N is my mate. Vampire-Siphoners, or whatever the hell she is-”
Alaric interrupted him, “A heretic,” He corrected.
Jed huffed, “Fine, whatever a heretic, cannot be a werewolf’s mate.” He stood up roughly, “I’m sorry Mr. Saltzman, but I think you’re wrong.” With that the boy quickly walked out of the headmaster’s office and went to find his alpha.
Of course Raphael was hanging with Landon, who was with Hope, who just so happened to be with MG, Kaleb, and Y/N. Great, that’s fantastic.
They were all looking at their textbooks, writing down and highlighting important things. Jed was hoping that deep down Y/N wouldn’t look up at him and thankfully she didn’t, she was too focused on the content in her textbook.
“Raphael,” Jed said a bit harshly, catching everyone’s attention but Y/N’s, “I need to talk with you,” He looked at Hope before saying, “And you too.” The two teens looked at each other before getting up and following Jed to a far corner where he was sure the other vampires couldn’t hear their conversation.
“What is Jed? We were kind busy,” Hope said crossing her arms.
Raphael sighed, “What is it man?”
Jed took in a deep breathe before spitting out, “Y/N is my mate.” But instead of it coming out like a normal sentence, it came out as one long, jumbled sentence. The look on the two teens faces told him he had to repeat himself and so he did, this time slower.
“So, Y/N- she’s your mate? What- what does that even mean?” Raphael was confused, which didn’t surprise Jed one bit.
“It means that Y/N is who Jed is meant to be with, like a soulmate but in a supernatural kind of way.” She chuckled a bit, “I find it very ironic that she’s your mate considering how much you hate on vampires and witches, she just so happens to be both.”
Jed growled lowly, “It’s not funny, Hope. This is serious. What am I supposed to do? She just got here, if I tell her now she’ll probably freak out and leave the school entirely.”
“Then don’t tell her,” Raphael said, earning a disapproving look from Hope, “Not yet at least. Why don’t you get to know her, talk to her, become her friend first. See if she feels the connection like you do and then if she does you tell her.”
Hope shrugged, “Sounds like a good plan. She’s new, she feels left out which is why we’ve hung around her, we want her to know that the vampires and witches are on her side. Maybe you should do the same, show the other werewolves that she’s not as bad as everyone thinks she is.”
Jed nodded, thanking them and then walking away. His eyes lingered on his mate for a moment, his heart thudding so hard in his chest that he was sure the vampires nearby could hear him. He had to figure out how he would talk to her without fumbling over his words, which was going to be harder than he thought. He had to wait until Y/N was by herself, and then he would ask her. Maybe when lunch was about to start? That way she could eat lunch with the wolves and see that not everyone thought she was a monster.
When the time came he waited and waited until she was walking down the stairs and that’s when he asked her, “Hey! Y/N!” He basically all but shouted, which caught the attention of some other people. Jed stepped in front of Y/N who seemed a bit confused that he was talking to her at all. He cleared his throat and then asked, “Do you want to sit with my pack at lunch? You don’t have to if you don’t want to, but I- uh- I just thought it’d be nice since you’re new and all.” God he sounded so stupid, but he was hoping it would work.
“Uh, yeah I guess..” Y/N seemed a bit nervous about the whole thing, especially since the wolves had been giving her dirty looks since the moment she arrived.
Jed grinned, “Great!” He hadn’t meant to sound so excited but for some reason he couldn’t help it, “Uhm, this way.” He said as he lead the way. Y/N followed behind him, trying to not pay attention to all the stares she was getting as she did so. She knew what everyone around her was probably thinking, but it was in her best interest to try and push that aside.
When they reached the werewolves lunch table it was like everyone in the room stopped to watch was happening. Y/N tensed up as she looked around and examined everyone’s faces. They seemed.. disgusted, to say the least.
“I- uhm are you sure it’s okay for me to sit here, I can just go- I don’t want to start any trouble.” Y/N became unsure of her current situation and began to think that this was going to be some horrible joke that everyone was playing on her.
As she started to back up and move to exit the dining hall, Jed quickly reached out and softly grabbed her hand, making her head snap back in his direction. “It’s okay, you can sit with us. Plus I’m sure you’d like to meet some more of our student body.” Jed smiled as he tried to remain as calm as possible. Y/N nodded and pulled out the chair next to him and sat down. Her y/e/c eyes casted down quickly to avoid the harsh stares she was getting from some of the people around her.
“What’s the blood sucker doing here?” Someone said as they approached the table.Y/N looked up, which she instantly regretted. It was a girl, who was just absolutely breathtaking. Y/N felt herself sink back into her chain and fiddle with her daylight ring.
“Her name is Y/N and she’ll be sitting with us today, so she can meet more students.” Jed said in her defence.
Why was he doing this? Why did even care?
The girl scoffed and sat down with some other students, unfortunately they all sat down across from  Y/N and Jed.
“So, where are you from, Y/N?” The girl who had just previously called her ‘blood sucker’ asked, no doubt wanting to know so she could say some harsh words.
“Philadelphia.” She answered shortly as she sat up a bit.
The girl nodded and crossed her arms as she leaned back, “And how are the Philly cheesesteaks there? Are they as good as people claim, or would even know since all you drink is blood?” Some of the other wolves chuckled at her, but Y/N just narrowed her eyes. If she wanted to play that game, she’ll play it.
“They’re good, I wouldn’t know about the blood though, too much cholesterol up there.” Y/N responded.
Y/N could see the girl visibly grind her teeth at her response. “How’d you die?” Straight to the good stuff.
“Hunters. They killed my whole coven.” The table went silent and the girl swallowed thickly. “Little did they know what they were bringing to the table.”
“I’m so sorry,” Jed said softly, placing his hand on top of hers that was now resting on the table. Y/N looked down and then back up to him, but Jed was already looking at the students in front of them. “Why would you ask her something like that? She didn’t ask you how you triggered your transformation.” That seemed to hit a spot.
“Shut it, Jed.” The girl’s focus went back to Y/N. “I wanna see how powerful this chick really is.”
Y/N shook her head and scoffed and pushed herself away from the table. “If that’s all you people wanted to see you can just go fuck yourselves.” She pushed in her chair and started to walk away but as she was she used her vamp speed and senses to turn around and stop a knife that the girl had thrown at her. Everyone watched as Y/N’s eyes went from their natural color to a bright, mesmerizing golden color. Gasps were heard from around the room, as this was unheard of.
WIthout hesitation the vampires and witches were at Y/N’s side, protecting their new friend. Meanwhile the werewolves watched in astonishment at the sight, and the girl who threw the knife stubbled back. With a small movement of her hand, Y/N placed the knife back on the table without moving an inch from where she stood.
“It was nice to meet you.” She turned on her heel and exited the dining hall, even though Hope and Jed were calling her name. Hope walked over to the wolves and glared at the girl.
“What the hell was that? Are you trying to make her hate you guys?” She looked at Jed, “I thought you were going to get them to like her, not try to kill her on her fist day.”
Jed frowned, “That wasn’t my intention at all, I swear.” He looked over at the girl who all but cowered away from his rough glance.
Hope scoffed and shook her head as she crossed her arms, “Yeah, well nice going with that. If I were you I’d tell your pack that they owe her an apology for embarrassing her like that in front of the whole school.” She shook her head as she walked back over to Landon, Lizzie, and Josie. Raphael stood with his adopted brother and just shook his head in disappointment.
Jed sighed and grabbed his things and left the room. He wanted to apologize to Y/N for the way his pack treated her, wanted to make it up to her in some way but he didn’t know how he was going to do that.
Walking down the hallway to Y/N’s room he was about to knock on the door when he stopped and saw what looked like constellations coming from her room, but that wasn’t the only thing. He could hear her crying. Stepping closer he looked through the crack in her door and saw that her whole room looked like it was in space. It was pitch black but their were stars covering every inch of her room. He looked around and saw her laying on her bed. Hands spread open as they shot the beams of darkness stars, and that’s when he realized she was doing that.
When he stopped focusing on the fact that she was doing something so amazing he himself almost started crying at the sound of his mate crying. Sure he didn’t know her that well but he could feel their bond slowly growing stronger and he wanted nothing more than just to comfort her and tell her it’s all going to be okay.
The cherry on top of it all though, was when she said into the open air, “I wish I wasn’t me.”
