Hello MDX, do you think Rei knows the Akais and Miyanos are cousins?
No, I don't currently think that he does. He should however be capable of finding that out, considering his deep connection with Miyano Elena being his motive for joining the police academy, meaning that he should have gathered a lot of info on her background and family ties.

"Hagi, he's not really gonna do this, right?"
"No way!!"
"Try me!"
"This... this isn't going well."
"... should I call an ambulance in advance?"
Not sure what she saw in her bathtub, but it sure wasn't pleasant
I understand now why Shuichi is hard to draw. He got it from his parents

You would think Mary would be a little more cautious about putting her family in danger considering as far as she knows, her husband AND her eldest son were killed by the BO, but noooo apparently she’s completely fine with just chucking Masumi to the wolves.

what's your opinion about Wakasa after last case, do you still think it's Vermouth. Or do you have a new theory about her and her relationship with the BO?
Wakasa's Tsutomu Flashback Explanation
Yes, I think we are further going towards that direction. Especially now that Gosho didn't even try to be subtle with the Asaka implications pre-reveal in File 1099, I think she is now being properly setup as an Asaka red-herring/mislead through her appearance (meaning that Wakasa=Asaka is not gonna be the climax identity twist of her character, just like Rum=Wakita, that was revealed before climax), similar to "Vader" (mystery elder) appearance being framed as the Boss' when he is likely not (File 1090 & 1096), or when Jodie revealed misleading memories framing her as Vermouth going after young Sherry (File 426-427).
All that is needed now is for Asaka to be revealed to have been innocent during the Kohji case, and the Wakasa flashback's misleading narrative is complete.
I think however that this flashback is still giving us helpful information, despite the misleading narrative, similar to Jodie's flashback during Vermouth arc.
Remember how Vermouth was hinted to have been involved in Tsutomu's disappearance/death during Vauxhall bridge scene (through her well informed nature while pulling the Tsutomu stunt and awareness of Tsutomu's voice and speech pattern, as if she has heard/interacted with him)? I think we just got the context to her role in it revealed in this new flashback from Wakasa.
We know that Gosho teased Tsutomu to have been connected to a moment when Rum had both his eyes from Oda x Aoyama interview, which I think was also just hinted at through Tsutomu's mention of a "monster" that is about to reveal themselves.
I suspect that this flashback scene is a fragment from an entrapment plan orchestrated by Rum and Vermouth (similar to the trap Vermouth orchestrated for Mary), who were able to sniff out Tsutomu's investigation of the Kohji case. Rum & Vermouth might've pieced together that Tsutomu has figured out that Asaka is innocent, and that the culprit was Karasuma, and so they setup a trap by having Vermouth disguise as "innocent wounded Asaka" as bait for Tsutomu to save. I think it ultimately lead to Tsutomu finger jabbing Rum's left eye and fake Asaka backstabbing Tsutomu, leading to Tsutomu's "death"/disappearance.
Tsutomu might have written his warning message to Mary (revealed in File 972) before heading towards where he was gonna find "Asaka" (Vermouth), in case of him losing against the enemies he has made, similar to how Mary prepared contingencies for Masumi (File 1049) in case she didn't return from her meeting with "Tsutomu" (Vermouth).
Now, in the current time, Vermouth is basically once again using the same Asaka disguise with the new identity of "Wakasa Rumi", and Rum's reaction to her on the newspaper (File 980) is now recontextualized to him calling her quick-witted for knowing it's Vermouth in disguise (because they used that appearance against Tsutomu in the past).

It's so fun to watch Conan and the Akai family. They've become great allies, but not only that, I love how they're aware of his true identity as Shinichi Kudo and are trying to get him to admit it. Conan/Shinichi is entirely aware they know who he really is, but still refuses to outright say it.
The only difference is the methods from each member of the family.
Akai playfully teases Conan about the issue and makes clear remarks that he knows, but doesn't press too hard, knowing Conan will likely admit it when he's ready.
Masumi makes it clear she knows and is really trying to force it out of him to the point she even threatens to confess his secret to Ran!
Mary knows, but hasn't met him in person nor does she fully trust him and thus has been testing Conan to see if he is a worthy ally.
Shukichi is the only member of the family who doesn't know, but hopefully he'll join the club soon enough.
I swear I wonder when the day will come when Conan just admits it. The whole family pretty much knows so there's no real reason to keep pretending. (Although I guess Masumi and Mary are getting a bit more impatient and reckless at this point?)
