Fem!Izuku 💚

Technically a doodle since it only took me 2-3 hours to finish.

I know Horikoshi drew him as a girl with short hair but I like to imagine it longer, fluffy and styled like his mother's.

Not entirely sure how big of a difference growing up quirkless as a girl would be and how much that would've affected her once she entered UA but, again, I'm no author so I'll keep it simple:

As per my headcanon, she's still roughly the same with ofc more feminine mannerisms and I reckon there'd be some differences with her fighting style/patterns even when she's trying to imitate All might (bc I know I'd probably move different if I was a guy). She's still bestfriends with Iida and Ochaco but would also be closer to her other female classmates and would attend any scheduled hang outs with them unless it falls on a training day with All might or smtg--Girls night every other week or month once they enter the dorms.

Speaking of All might, he's already doting on male Izuku but he'll probably be even more protective if he was a girl (doesn't help that he's reminded of Nana when he sees her hairstyle). Aizawa doesn't believe in the notion that girls be automatically coddled bc of their gender but I'm sure after getting to know his number one problem child, he'll low-key be more sweet on her than the rest and is extra harsh during training bc he wants to make sure she can protect herself.

Izuku is exasperated but also appreciates it and would indulge them bc they're her dads.

Self indulgent thought: She has her hoard of admirers (villains included) but is extremely dense and anything but a blunt no nonsense confession to her face will be perceived as a reach out for friendship. Katsuki is her guard dog in these matters bc he definitely likes her but is being stupid about it, understandable considering their still unresolved-complicated past, so he takes it upon himself to keep away other dunces who think they can get lucky. Shouto and Hitoshi have a pass bc they're her friends, but he keeps an eye on them just in case.

Self indulgent thought #2: as a girl who grew up quirkless, she's def more sensitive when it comes to sa/ppl generally taking advantage of others and so would've snapped and had Mineta expelled on the first week, if not first day of class. That would've opened up a spot early for Hitoshi to join in. With Izuku's power of persuasion to wear down his i-didnt-come-here-to-make-friends stance and Hitoshi finding out that she was the reason for him getting into hero class so soon? The guy was an instant goner and never looked away since. The todoroki vs deku fight during the festival is a fixed event in my hc so Shouto fell in love there.

*While on patrol, Pro Hero Deku drops a few yen into a cup beside a vagabond. Rather than hear the reliable clink of change hitting change, he hears the unmistakable sound of something solid dropping into something liquid*

Disgruntled person: What the hell, problem child!?

Pro Hero Deku's sphincter tightens as he stops dead in his tracks: Ai-Aizawa sensei?

Aizawa: I just got that cup of coffee!

Pro Hero Deku: Bu-but what are you doing here!? Also, it's 9PM, what are you doing drinking coffee so late??

Underground Pro Hero Eraserhead exhales deeply: I'm preparing for my shift. Do you want to explain whatever you dropped in my cup?

*Pro Hero Deku mutters indiscriminately, sweat beading down his forehead*

Underground Pro Hero Eraserhead squints threateningly: Say again?

Pro Hero Deku clears his throat nervously: I-I thought you were homeless..

Underground Pro Hero Eraserhead puts his goggles on menacingly: Detention, Midoriya.

Pro Hero Deku indignantly protests: Wha-what? I was doing the right thing I thought! And you can't assign me detention! I'm 23!

Shouta "Scariest Teacher to Ever Grace the Halls of UA and Not a Fan of Repeating Himself" Aizawa growls: Detention!

Pro Hero DynaMight who knew Aizawa frequented this coffee shop ahead of his patrols, laughs under his breath: Heh, nerd.

Aizawa: You too, Bakugo. I'll see you both in my office tomorrow.

Pro Hero DynaMight: TCH! Don't tell me what to do!

Bakugo as a teacher Pro Hero

Dynamight x reader, cute son, dramatic ending and fluff. It was in my draft for so long, I finally got the will to end it. Enjoy!

Let's say Bakugo goes back to UA for teaching. He is the Pro-Hero, Dynamight symbol of Victory and Strength. Obviously, he is famous with the kids. He learned with the years, letting go most of his bagages that was slowing him down.

He was happy, striving in his work. He protected the world, making it a better place and in the same time he educated the next generation.

He had it all, the job, the glory, the money, little him would look at him with stars in his eyes (and probably some tears).

He was in the top so early in his age. So now, when he woke up he starred at the celling and he asked himself "What now?"

He ached for something more, he didn't know what. Obviously, there wqs always something to do to make the world better, but he felt like he reached a peak. He didn't like stagnation.

He talked about it with Deku, the green hairhead facing the same problem. And for one of the first time, the nerd didn't have an answer. "I let the life goes, it will bring us what we need when we are ready."

It made him sighed. Waiting. He didn't like how it sounds.

But what was there else to do?

For the first time Nezu gave him his own class. Twenty kids stared at him in awe and fear. He scanned the room with his eyes, he learned all the documents the school gave him on them. He saw the entrance exams, so he could say the bunch is promising.

"Take your shits, brats. We' gonna train outside."

Through the months, he learned more about his students. He cared for them and even gave them cooking class in their dorms. They were louds, he understood one hundred percent Aizawa and his dozing habits.

Some children standed out, one in particular.

The kid was strong, was a quick problem solver, very independent. He got some difficulties to lean on other, but his classmates were efficient in melting his thick carapace. He was silent most of the time, an only child, he went home every weekend.

"What's your parents do for a living, Keyring?"

"Chef," he responded without gazing up to his teacher.

Bakugo knew that, he read it on his case.

"And the other ?"

"Dead, hopefully."

His answer made him paused. And then, he was back frowning.

"Don't wish people death, you brat."

To which, the kid slowly raised his head with a mischievous grin. "I read Deku's biography, wanna talk about it sir?"

The kid definitely had some boldness. Bakugo liked him. He liked how independent and thoughtful he was. How smart but lay back.

Sometimes, the kid goes berserk, as if he was holding it for so long. His quirk, named Portals, capable to open portals to go anywhere, get out of control. It's rare. But it happened often enough that Bakugo decided to summoned you.

You were very open about the problems of your family, and Bakugo was thankful. Your ex, the other parent was a villain with the same quirk. You thought he was dead, but you received ominous messages. When you went to the police, they explained to you that they suspected he was still alive.

Your son knew, for his own safety that his genitor was strolling around, probably not for good. You had told him it was better he stayed at the dorms during the weekend. But he refused.

"What did the police put for your safety? And what is your quirk?"

"They put a gard in front of my restaurant and my house."

"Your son could get rid of both if he wanted with his quirk", he rolled his eyes but not at you. "What about your quirk?"

"I'm quirkless" you responded sheepishly.

This was a problem. In other terms you were defenseless.

He understood why your son was so adament about coming home every weekend. It was to protect you.

Bakugo thought. It was a special case. As a hero, he couldn't not do something.

He talked with Nezu and the director was very happy to side with Dynamight for your protection.

One weekend, he helped you to move inside the dorms, the teacher's dorm. Every morning, he took you to your restaurant, and take you back to the dorms at night. More heroes were called to watch over you during the day.

The car rides were silencious most of the time.

You didn't say anything in the car, you just looked at the window. Bakugo didn't thought much of it.

Until one day, you turned on the radio. An old song from Bakugo's teenagehood rang in the car. You sang along, to his surprised. He grinned. Your voice couldn't reach the low tones of the singer,making you grimacing while trying.

At first you shyly mouth the lyrics until the the chorus came and you couldn't help but shout. He laughs.

And then it was over. Because he asked you about the music, then the band and you exchanged your opinions.

You talked about work, family, music, TV shows...

The car rides each morning and night were going much faster, it became something Bakugo look out for. He didn't get why at first. He liked listening to you. You were smart, you had wits, and he understood from who your son got his sly smile.

The said son came back to normal, he was so happy and relieved that you stayed at the dorms. Where the best heroes could protect you.

Bakugo could see that you both had strong boundaries. You let your son be in the dorms, just texting him during the week. And you hangout together during the weekend.

When Bakugo asked you about it, you said that the dorms were your son's space. You didn't want to intrude, he was very independent. You wanted your son to be more opened about needing help and asking for it.

A friendship begun between you and the hero. During the week, you hang out together, not only for car rides. Then you cook for each other, discovering he is good with cooking but terrible at baking.

Of course, the friendship didn't go unnoticed.

Firstly by his friends.

Sero, surprisedly, was sure the two of you were banging. Kaminari said it was not Baku go-like to flirt with a parent's student. Kirishima saw how Bakugo would drop the eyes when Kaminari said that. His best friend was feeling something, but he wasn't sure he was aware of it. Bakugo denied everything. Just saying you were fun. The word felt like sour cake in his mouth.

Then the media would notice his comings and goings to your restaurant.

Bakugo never cared much about scandals. But with you, he begun to feel scared. About what you thought, how you saw him, and ultimately, what you son thought about it.

You didn't act different so he did the same. You brushed off the media, minding your own business. He didn't know if he felt relieved or irked.

Dynamight never had a scandal with a woman. There was never a suspicion he had ever dated anyone. Because he had not. And he didn't get why you didn't understand it meant something. That it meant something to him at least.

He was on the phone with his mother who was screaming in his ears about you, when you son came to see him.

His phone was on a website. A journalist insulted you in the papers. They made the link between his name and yours, knowing you were his parent and Dynamight was his teacher.

"Are you dating my mom?" the kid said, interrupting Bakugo's conversation.

"What? No, Keyring. I'm not, don't believe what those stupid journalists said."

"Then why are you doing all of this?"

The kid was torn. Bakugo could see it with the shaking hands and the ruffled hairs.

"She didn't get the star she was aiming because of it, you put her at risk with the papers talking about you two! My father must have saw it!"

No, the kid was not torn. He was scared.

"It's none of my business what happened between you. But if she is hurt I won't forgive you. And if her restaurant is mocked because of you, it better be because you make her happy and you're not toying with her!"

Bakugo was speechless. His mother too by the silence in his phone. But she didn't hang up.

"I'm not toying with your mother, brat."

"Then what do you want? If your honest you won't say nothing."

Again, he doesn't know what to say. What did he want with you? Whatever you were okay to give him? He likes the car rides, the hanging out in the dorms, the jokes, the smiles...

But now, he's forced to acknowledge what it could be. You coming to his dorm. Him caressing your tight while driving. Little dates on his day off with the Keyring. A family...

He opened his mouth to confess his feeling. If the kid wanted the truth, he will give it to him.

But before he could speak, the door opened. Another teacher came right in and said "The restaurant was targeted! They kidnapped Y/N!"

Bakugo paled. His heart echoed against his eardrums. He look at your kid who dropped his phone. In his gut, Bakugo could feel the silent scream the child wanted to let out.

Izuku’s Lee Mood

Summary: Izuku can't help but find himself in one of his love/hate moods: a lee mood! How will he ever deal with this lovely curse all day?

*Warning: Contains small amounts of swearing

Izuku Midoriya woke up today in a lee mood. He knew it right away the moment he woke up. He couldn't stop giggling no matter what he did. "Dahahamn ihit! Whyhy tohodahahay of ahahall dahahahays?!" Izuku said as he got up to get ready for class. He loved/hated when he was in a lee mood. Ever since he was a kid, he's always had random lee mood days when he wanted someone to tickle him crazy. He assumed he grew out of it after attending UA, but he was proven dead wrong today. He didn't know how to handle this. He could never bring this up to his friends. They tease him about his ticklishness already. If he were to admit something like this to them...but then again, if his friends did know about his lee mood, then he could get wrecked with tickles, his favorite activity. "Ugh, stop it, Deku! You're an adult now, stop acting likena child!" Izuku managed to say before leaving for class.

Izuku wished he had stayed in his room. The day has been one close call after the other. First, after one of Aizawa's lectures, Uraraka and Iida walked up to Deku. "Hey, Deku! Iida and I have a question for you!" Uraraka said as she lightly tapped Deku's shoulder. Izuku’s brain interpreted this to scream like a girl and almost laugh. Both Uraraka and Iida were taken aback by this sudden action. "Midoriya, are you okay?" Iida asked. "Yesimtotallyfineokaygottagobye!" Midoriya said quickly as he left in a hurry. Both of them were left in shock.

Next, during lunch Deku was talking with Todoroki. "I heard that our next lesson's gonna focus on combat training against people who put us at a disadvantage" Midoriya said. "Interesting. I wonder who I would be put up against. Hunter outmatches me in power and abilities. Yaoyorozu can create weapons and defense to counter my ice. Your Quirk allows you to outmaneuver me. There's also Bakugo, with his insane agility and raw power" Todoroki answered back. During their conversation, Kirishima accidentally bumped into Deku. His brain, once again, interpreted this to scream and giggle. "Midoribro, you good, man? That was-" "Yeahimtotallyfinenothingtoworryaboutkirishimaokaygottagobye!" Midoriya once again ran out, leaving his friends confused once again. "What's wrong with Midoriya? He's been acting more awkward than usual" Todoroki asked, to which Kirishima shrugged.

What really made the day a lot more embarrassing was combat training. Midoriya was put against Hunter, who was playing a villain in this scenario: Midoriya was attempting to save a hostage (Mirio) from a villain who outmatched him and had to find a way to get the hostage to safety. During their combat training, Deku's sparring game way totally off, not just because Hunter had better versatility and combat ability, but Deku's lee mood was slowing him down, and it was showing. Usually, Midoriya had no problem fighting against Hunter and won five times out of ten, but he had to concentrate on not breaking down laughing while also keeping Hunter away from the hostage at the same time. Not an easy task for the One for All wielder. Toward the end of the training, Hunter slid in on ice and pushed Deku back with wind. He then caught Deku with a new move he made: lighting ropes, tying Deku up in midair. Deku struggled to get out, but he couldn't help but get that feeling again. His body was tingly all over and he couldn't help but laugh. Hunter, still playing the villain, smirked and decided to mess with the hero for a bit. "Looks like I caught me a hero. Let's see if I can make this hero talk" Hunter walked up to Deku with his shit eating grin and chuckled. "Let's see if you know anything useful, little hero" Hunter poked Deku's chest, and in return he got a full on screech laugh. Deku's screech laugh was so sudden and loud, Hunter jumped back and lost his grip on the rope, too shocked by what happened just now. Everyone else in the class just looked at Deku like he was crazy, including Aizawa. Deku just turned red on embarrassment and stayed quiet the rest of the day.

Once the day was over, Izuku immediately went to his room and plopped on his bed. "Damn it, Izuku. What is wrong with you? You shouldn't be like this. You completely embarrassed yourself today!" Deku groaned as he buried his face in his pillow. Just then, he heard a knock on the door. He decided to stay quiet, not ready to face anyone after today. The door opened slightly, and Shoji walked in. "Hey, Midoriya. May I come in?" Shoji asked. Deku didn't respond, but he didn't say no. Shoji sat down next to him and looked at him. "What's up with you today? You've been jumpy and very weird all day." Deku didn't want to answer. "Come on, Midoriya. I'm worried about you. You're not acting like yourself. Well, you are, but not in a normal sense. You get what I mean?" Deku just sighed and sat up straight to look Shoji in the eye. "It's...complicated," Deku finally said after a moment a silence. "Complicated?" "Yeah. I...I don't know how to explain it." "Well, take it slow. Try to describe what's wrong slowly. Start from when you woke up." Deku thought about this for a moment, afraid but excited to tell Shoji. "Well...I woke up today feeling...strange. It was like..." Deku had to hold back a powerful giggle in order to not embarrass himself...but he also wanted to giggle to give away to Shoji what was wrong. Aaah, this was so confusing for Deku!

Shoji noticed Midoriya trembling slightly, as if holding something back. A sneeze maybe? A cough? Or maybe...

"Midoriya, can I try something?" Shoji asked. The question took the young hero in green off guard. "Uh...sure?" "Okay. Lay down please" Delu did as he was told reluctantly. He was a bit confused but also excited to see what would happen. Was it possible Shoji knew? No, he couldn't know. Deku has never told anyone about this. The only one who knew about his lee mood was Bakugo, but even he would never openly admit something like that to anyone because of how ridiculous it is. "First, do you want me to do what I'm going to do?" Shoji asked. "What?" "Do you consent to what I'm going to do?" What are you going to do, Shoji?" "You'll see, if you consent" "Uhum...I guess I consehent-" And just like that, Izuku couldn't hold back his giggles any longer and just burst out giggling.

It was mainly Shoji's fault. It was he who started tickling Izuku’s sides the second he consented. "WAHAHAHAHA! Shohojihihi!" "So, I was right. You do have it" Shoji tickled Deku's sides a little faster, making Deku squirm violently. "SHOHOHOJIHIHI!" Deku screamed. But...this is what he wanted. He didn't want to move. He didn't want to run. He wanted to stay and let Shoji wreck him.

It seemed Shoji understood what Midoriya wanted because what he said completely shocked him. "You've been having a lee mood, haven't you?" Midoriya only laughed loudly at that, confirming Shoji's guess. "No wonder you've been jumpy at touch. You just wanted a little attention." Shoji decided to switch it up. He grew six other arms and looked at Deku with an evil smirk (not like he could even see the smirk, but Deku could just feel Shoji smirking at him). "Well, I know exactly how to solve your problem" "HOHOHOW?!" "How else, Leezuku?" Shoji teased as he went absolutely ham on Deku, tickling every inch of his tickle spots without rest. Deku, being the energetically ticklish baby he is, screamed bloody murder and laughed so loud the window in his room broke. He couldn't help but wiggle and giggle like he's never done before, but he never tried to escape. He was in heaven! He loved Shoji's fingers wiggling in the hollows of his armpits. He loved the way his fingers traced his ribs and his small belly button slowly. The way his fingers danced all around his knees, teasing him more and more as he got closer and closer to his death spot. Shoji was also having some fun, wrecking Midoriya like this. "Having fun, Leezuku?" "YEHEHEHEHES!" "Good" Shoji said as he stopped. Izuku, although still dying like a hyena, noticed that Shoji stopped and started complaining. "Whyhy dihid you stohohohop?" "Because you're having fun" "Buhuhut thahat's not fahahair!" "Sorry, Midoriya. That's just how it is" "NOHOHO! Plehehease keheheep gohoing!" Deku begged. Shoji's ears perked up hearing this. "Come again?" "I wahahant mohohohore! Mohohore more mohore!" Deku laughed while complaining and whining like a brat. Shoji chuckled. "I don't think you do" Deku whined even more. "Oh...it seems the little brat doesn't like to be told no" Deku kicked Shoji's leg in retaliation. "That's it, you brat" Shoji scooped Izuku in his arms and went to town on his hips, squeezing and scribbling them. "BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!"Midoriya quickly started crying from laughing so hard, his squirming and wiggling never letting up. Yet he still intentionally opened up his other tickle spots for Shoji to attack, and Shoji obliged. Both of them started laughing as time passed on and on.

Twenty minutes later, Deku had enough and called it quits, but Shoji continued to tickle him to ensure that all of his lee energy had left his body, which took another ten minutes. Once Izuku calmed down enough after the tickling, Shoji sat down on the bed with him. "Is that better, Midoriya?" "Yeah...thanks..." Deku answered. "How did...you know-" "You're not the only one I've met with a lee mood." "No?" "No. You'd be surprised by how many of our friends here have lee moods." Like who, Shoji?" Shoji sat and thought for a bit. "Well, Ojiro has a lee mood and comes to me every time. Then there's Kaminari, Uraraka, Ashido, Koda, Kirishima, Tsu, Hunter... I can name more if you'd like" "Wow. So many of our friends have lee moods too...I thought-" "You were the only one? Not even close" "...And what about you, Shoji? Do you have a lee mood too?" Shoji didn't answer and looked up for a moment. Midoriya could've sworn Shoji was embarrassed because of his small blush. "You must be tired after all of that" Shoji said. Midoriya wanted to protest that he didn't, but he yawned in response. "You're right" Deku said. Shoji chuckled and ruffled Deku's hair. "Okay, I'll leave you be. Get some rest, but remember that you have homework to do" Deku nodded. "And remember, anytime you have one of those days again, just come to me, and I will help you. Okay?" Deku nodded again. Shoji got up and left the room, leaving Deku to sleep. As Midoriya drifted off to sleep, he felt much more at peace knowing that Shoji was here to help him with his lee mood. He would have to thank Shoji properly later once he was awake...

And after he buys a new window for his room. Oh boy, Aizawa's not gonna be happy with this one.

Aizawa: Okay class, you will make some physical test with using your quirk, be ready!

Izuku: Oh shoot!... Is someone has a knife or a gun?

Momo: I can create thing... why?

Izuku: Cool! Can you make me gun? It's for my quirk!

Momo: Okay... here

Izuku: Thanks! *point the gun his head*

Aizawa: *problem children sense is tickling* PROBLEM CHILD...

Katsuki: DEKU NO!!!

Izuku: DEKU YES!!! *shot himself*

Class 1-A: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!!!!

Katsuki: *have a fucking break down and cry* WHY?!

Aizawa: It's TOO EARLY in the years to deal with it!!!

Ghost: Common guys! It's not that bad!

By the time Izuku enters UA he has come to the realization that he can partially use his quirk without dying. So he can use a weaker version of his quirk but only if he's injured, the more injured the more powerful his quirk is. This was discovered after a lot of testing and pushing his quirk past its limits with Koichi and Anata.

So it would be more like Izuku turning to Katsuki and with the straightest face saying;

"I need you to hit me in the face as hard as you can, go buck wild. Like break a nose or a jaw if you can."

And everyone is looking at him a little freaked cause who just asks someone to break their jaw? But little do they know it could've been so much worse, he could've asked for a gun.

Maybe you have noticed but in regards Izu...the narrative punish him(fuck you Hori) as well the majority of the fandom. Some Shinso fans think Izu should have come clean to Shinso about his quirk regarding the Izu vs Shinso 2.0 (coincidentally Aizawa stopped trained him after Shinso lost) and how in "Izu and Shinso are friends" Izu should pity Shinso as well we, the readers, while Izu's past is not seen as a big deal.

Some do say " yeah bk was meanie" and that if we are lucky.

I dont get why Shinso thought Izu(the kid who calls himself deku, not dekiru) whose quirk break his bones (of course UA does nothing. Has any teacher help anyone with their quirk?) And is mostly like from poor background is a golden child....

Meanwhile Shinso is really silent about BK.

What I'm trying to say here is...how Hori and the fandom ignore the ramifications of Izu's abuse or use to prop others characters.

"Shinso is a good guy bc he punched BK for Izu" cool...but why cant Izu do that? Why we dont get a word of what Izu thinks about that? Why he cant have closure?

(We see this in ships too. Ochako the super cool GF defeats BK...and Izu's pain is not important, not the healing! He has a gf duh🙄😒)

Yeah this is actually one of the biggest problems I have with the bakugo and izuku relationship/ rivalry or whatever it is (it's definitely not romantic or a friendship) izuku never gets to reflect or be the one to stand up for himself and some people say," oh it's IZUKUS character he doesn't realise that what bakugo has done is bad and he just forgives everyone who ever does him dirty" or something along those lines which really annoys me because ITS COMPLETELY FALSE. We can see in the first chapter after the suicide incident that izuku can actually feel negative emotions towards KATSUKI and that he actually knows and realises that what KATSUKI is doing is WRONG. However, because of hori's love for katsuki he can be never make him seem like the bad guy which 1) ruined katsukis development 2) ruined izukus and other characters development.

Concerning the shinso situation I don't think Izuku has to own up TO NOTHING!! No offence but hori made shinso kind of dumb when he chose that out of ALL hero class students you CHOOSE to target izuku who YOU CAN CLEARLY SEE DOESN'T SEEM TO FIT IN OR GO BY YOUR STUPID SILVER SPOON IDEOLOGY. Iam all for shinso and izuku being friends and I have talked about ways how to change the narrative so izuku and shinso's interactions can make sense in the narrative but yeah idk what's going on with hori.

Lastly, when it comes to izuku and his backstory the fandom mainly ignores it because it's not consistently brought up as something that affected izuku even though we can clearly see it did. Hori also stated that he wished he didn't make bakugo as mean and you can clearly see him try and undermine bakugos actions by making him think about izuku and only izuku also the fandom will eat anything that's BKDK which they think is a better version of saskue and Naruto but in reality this is a toxic wish version.

As someone who had dropped the manga way back but still know generally what’s happened, why do you hate the “Dark Deku arc” (besides that stupid name)

I think the basic idea - letting Deku react to the war by ditching everyone and break himself to become All Might 2.0 - was a fine one.

Deku's biggest flaw is his self-sacrificing, self-destructive, martyristic tendencies and his saviour syndrome, which is ironically both extreme self-lessness (as in not care about himself) and extreme selfishness (as in not caring about the feeling of others who do care about him). Letting this flaw play out until it leads to an epic downfall that the MC has to suffer so he can rise again is the bread and butter of hero stories.

But the problem was with the execution, and notably Horikoshi's biggest flaw as a writer - he's so scared of making Deku unlikable that every single time he pulls his punches, which in turn stunts Deku's character development. To me, this is the biggest problem of the arc - Deku's fall is so ambiguous that half the fandom is convinced that he could have gotten himself out just fine from the predicament he was in, and then "soloed" all of Class A if he made any effort. This ambiguity shows that it wasn't a real downfall.

Another grave looming consequence of Deku's choices was the heart-breaking scene of him ditching All Might. Both Deku and All Might were meant to learn from this arc that the Symbol of Peace was a flawed concept, that it is insane to place the burden of a nation's security on a single person, no matter how powerful or driven. But despite building a perfect scene, Hori did nothing with it. Neither Deku, nor All Might ever fully confront the reality - they just reconcile, like nothing happened, Stain tells All Might that the Symbol was the right thing and it feels like there is nothing learnt.

Dark Deku that was meant to be a tragic, sad figure of a child driven to the breaking point by the burden he's carrying as a legacy and the pressure both external and self-imposed to step into a role he cannot be and shouldn't ever have to be ready for, becomes nothing but an empty "dark aesthetic" to please Deku-stans who wanted him to be "cool" and "strong" and "edgy".

When half the fandom doesn't realize that Dark Deku is a point in the narrative where Deku is ironically the weakest in heroic spirit - he's driven by fear, by a selfish obsession to do it all alone, by wanting to deny others their ability to step up as heroes because they are not strong enough, when he's slowly becoming everything he was the antithesis of at the beginning of the story and it still goes over the head of the audience, the point was not well-made.

There are a number of other problems with the arc:

Class A's aftermath gets skipped - we get zero emotional pay-off for big things that happened like Midnight's death, Aizawa losing an eye and leg, how the Dabi-reveal affects Shouto, how the class is impacted by the collapse of hero society, how the parents feel about their children being on the frontlines. Tons of issues the war raised and never delivered on.

Deku's power-ups come too quickly and feeling largely "unearned". It led to a huge power-creep where Deku is nothing than empty recipient of free candy. There is no hype of him reaching "faux-100%" because it doesn't feel like he made any effort to get there. There is no learning curve, everything he tries succeeds immediately. It's boring. It cheapens everyone else's hard-earned progress. It’s frustrating how little sense of accomplishment there is now in the final arc as Deku uses all his powers together in a big power-demonstration. It’s just not satisfying to watch at all.

The HPSC plot that's been brewing in the background since the Licensing Arc fizzles into a non-sensical plot of a single assassin who takes out false heroes to uphold hero society. A person never referenced committing shady black-ops never alluded to, having no impact on the overall story. By Horikoshi's own admission, he basically ripped off the character and plot from an over-the-top assassin movie (Wanted) like the week before. Which really shows. This is one of my biggest disappointments of the arc. There was such a good build-up to exposing the rotten core of HPSC and it felt like it was set-up originally as a Hawks fall-from-grace-become-a-shadowy-operator kind of plot that would have given also Hawks a more satisfying post-war arc than "being optimistic to a fault". But I feel that just like with Deku, Horikoshi has the same issue with Hawks - being too afraid to make him unlikeable.

The Nagant-fight even as a fight is deeply unsatisfying and honestly feels like a Deku-circlejerk, where Nagant is beaten way too easily for all her hype, turned way too easily by the "irresistible heroism of Deku" who does something that every other hero in the story always did. Like, I hope the end-game no-jutsu will be more satisfying.

The OFA-plot and vestiges are in the center, but still, we are given almost no reason to care about the vestiges or their relationship with Deku or the history of AFO vs OFA. The whole mystery of the 2nd and the 3rd ends in an unsatisfying reveal, where Deku doesn't have to do a damn thing again to get those two on his side.

I do like Class A showing up and the one chapter of flashback we get of them. Some of the fight is fun, some of it is extremely cringy though. The message is also wishy-washy. I think the fight should have squarely focused on the class refusing Deku seeing them as useless victims and telling him that he doesn't get to choose who cares about him. But again, 80% of it is just a "Deku-praise-fest".

Bakugou apology is great though and the highlight of the arc.

Deku's return and Uraraka's speech and the straw-manning of the civilians is again pretty terrible, and the only thing that carries those chapters is Horikoshi laying down thick the ham-fisted parallels.

So these are the main issues. I think the arc could have worked but it didn't because the overall execution was really bad. It had beautiful art and some compelling scenes / images, but didn't feel coherent.

But its biggest flaw was Horikoshi pulling his punches. Not letting Deku stumble, doubt, question, fail meant he learnt nothing and didn't get the kind of downfall after which you feel the sweet satisfaction of him standing back up again (these scenes tend to go to Bakugou).

As the old saying goes: "Before you judge a man, walk a mile in his shoes".

From what the beings of the multiverse have to offer, Izuku desires to understand his former friend Katsuki by gaining the Quirk, Explosion. They granted Izuku's wish by bestowing him a Quirk that's the same as Katsuki, and to Izuku's surprise and subsequent delight, activating Explosion feels like...in his own words..."freedom".

Once Izuku gets the hang of it, he gets into a kneeling position and lets his emotions and passions loose. Allowing him to achieve a short-lived flight through the air as the giddiness and wonder he always has deep down regarding the numerous times he saw Katsuki use his Quirk to propel himself in the air.

✧Aizawa Shouta/Eraserhead✧

The man is very aware that his choice of actions are not ideal nor are they something a person would do to someone they care for. However, do you really have to be so difficult about it? Aizawa understands that you could be doing this to show defiance towards his actions while stuck here. He'll let you take out your anger/hurt/betrayal, whatever you were feeling for a bit so you could settle. When you don't show any signs of relenting, he gives out a heavy sigh. Playing nice is not really cutting it, huh?

Honestly, if you prevent him getting any sleep before he has to go in for hero work, there will be problems. Aizawa has some level of patience, but each act of disobedience strains it each time. He gives you chances. Three strikes and you will have to be punished accordingly. No, he doesn't care that he's treating you like a child. You're acting like one, so he's only treating as such. You have no room to complain.

When he figures out why you're like this, he'll sigh in irritation but at least now he knows how to solve this. You didn't have to make such a fuss about this. All you could've done was tell him straight up and he would have done something about it. Sure, he may seem apathetic and distant, but Aizawa can say from the bottom of his heart that he loves you deeply. He doesn't show it, but it's apparent when he cooks for you, makes sure you're well rested, bathed, clothed and so on. Aizawa will enter the room he put you in for your punishment. First, he will scold you for the behavior you displayed but then some needed reassurance will be given. He wants you to know that he cares despite everything else.

✧Midoriya Izuku/Deku✧

Midoriya would be fast to pick up on why his darling is acting this way. Though beforehand he's semi-confused to your behavior. He understands, yes, he took you against your will but he couldn't help it! This way, you're somewhere he knows of. Giving him peace of mind while he's out on his rounds as a pro hero. He'll be gentle with his approach, asking what's wrong and how he can fix things. Even with such a situation as this, Midoriya would like for you to be comfortable while you're in his home.

His reaction to your bratty behavior is god level patience. Sure, sometimes people do annoy him, but he can definitely handle whatever you dish out. If you start insulting him or throwing rude comments, he'll be hurt. Midoriya tries to guilt trip you into apologizing for what you said, but if you continue with the attitude... Well, he will have to get a little more stern. You can definitely tell from his tone that he's upset with you, even if it doesn't show.

Finding out why you're like this? Okay, it makes more sense and he might forgive you immediately. That only depends on how bad you were, of course. Midoriya lightly scolds you, stating that you should have just been forward with what you wanted. Though, he feels bad. Has his job as a pro hero left you neglected? He fully believes that he's done his absolute best in showing how much he loves you. Memorizing everything about you, knowing where you lived, always being there to comfort you when no one else would—did you need more? It would make it seem like his darling is being selfish here since Midoriya always puts his all into his efforts for the people he cares for.

✧Amajiki Tamaki/Suneater✧

Yeah, Amajiki just shuts down when you display this attitude towards him. He's feeling immense guilt and apologies everytime he looks or speaks to you. Though he knows deep down that doing such won't change what he's done. Honestly, he lets you insult him as much as you see fit, as he deems it to be a way to get back at him. Tamaki knows he's terrible for taking you away, so it's fine. However, your words don't sting any less. The moment where he would take any time to think that maybe your behavior is stemmed from something deeper is when he notices that you act up especially when he's about to leave for hero work.

He... He thought you hated him. No, you probably do. You're just making a fuss when he leaves because you're glad he'll be away from you. The thought destroys his feelings, he wants to cry in anguish. But it's strange that it doesn't seem like you're driving him away. If you're curious to how Tamaki deals with this behavior... He doesn't. He gives you space and just sits in a corner to wallow in his guilt and shame. Of course he won't neglect the basic necessities for you such as food, water, entertainment, and a bed to sleep on but he purposely avoids you during this time.

He's extremely shocked when he figures everything out... And then he feels awful. How could have been so blind? You were in desperate need love and assurance but all he acted was selfish as he lingered onto his crippling emotions. It broke his heart that you didn't think he loved you. Again, he apologizes to you, promising that he'll make things better. If you'll let him. Tamaki still believes he is an awful person but finding out that you acted out due to lack of attention, he a little less hard on himself. He will try to be more affectionate, though it makes him extremely flustered to do so. However, if it's for you, then Tamaki will try. He really does love you and doesn't want you to believe otherwise.
