ZAYN has signed a new record deal with Mercury Records, Billboard can confirm. Along with the news, the singer wiped his social media yesterday and has launched a new pre-save link and teaser in preparation for his Mercury Records debut single, which is said by the label to be arriving “very soon this summer.”
Label president Tyler Arnold says of the deal, “As soon as ZAYN and I met, I knew we had to work together. I was blown away by the new music, but just as impressed by his vision, drive and spirit. We’re honored he and his team have joined us at Mercury Records. We’ve got an incredible opportunity to tell the next chapter of his story together.”
Mercury Records was relaunched in April 2022 as a U.S. imprint of Republic Records, helmed by Arnold and Ben Adelson as president and general manager, respectively. Mercury’s roster includes Post Malone, whom Arnold signed to Republic in 2015, and James Bay, signed by Adelson in 2014. Other signees at Mercury’s launch included Stephen Sanchez, Chelsea Cutler, Jeremy Zucker, Lord Huron, Noah Kahan, BoyWithUke, Ka$hdami, Lyn Lapid and Camylio.
Mercury Records also acts as the hub for Republic’s partnerships with Big Loud Records, home to Morgan Wallen, and Imperial Music, the independent distributor that released Bo Burnham‘s Inside (The Songs).
As a solo artist, ZAYN has released three records: Mind of Mine (2016), Icarus Falls (2018), and Nobody is Listening (2021). They peaked at No. 1, No. 61 and No. 44 on the Billboard 200 chart, respectively. He has also placed six songs in the top 50 on the Pop Airplay chart, including two in the top 10. “PILLOWTALK” peaked at No. 1, and “I Don’t Wanna Live Forever” reached No. 2 on the chart. The two songs also reached those same chart positions on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart as well.

ZAYN Signs With Mercury Records Ahead of New Music
The singer, who was previously signed to RCA Records, has a new single coming "very soon this summer."
ZAYN has signed a new record deal with Mercury Records, Billboard can confirm. Along with the news, the singer wiped his social media yesterday and has launched a new pre-save link and teaser in preparation for his Mercury Records debut single, which is said by the label to be arriving “very soon this summer.” A former member of One Direction and a chart topper in his own right, ZAYN was previously signed to RCA Records. Sources close to the singer told Billboard that the new music ZAYN is making marks a major departure from the sound that defined his previous hits like “PILLOWTALK” and “I Don’t Wanna Live Forever.” Label president Tyler Arnold says of the deal, “As soon as ZAYN and I met, I knew we had to work together. I was blown away by the new music, but just as impressed by his vision, drive and spirit. We’re honored he and his team have joined us at Mercury Records. #OnThisDay August 20, 2021
Blackground Records 2.0 announces a new partnership with EMPIRE and begin re-releasing their catalog starting with their golden goose, Aaliyah. Fans would rejoice that Aaliyah's music finally (for the first time in 2 decades) becomes available again for purchase and on streaming platforms.
Prior to this, Aaliyah's first album "Age Ain't Nothing But A Number" was the ONLY album available (because of it's contract with Jive Records). Any other album/material fans could only purchase previously owned CD's (resale) or illegally download the mp3's online (outside of just listening to the music on Youtube); that's if you didn't own a CD due to it being lost, stolen, or damaged. When Aaliyah's music disappeared, this included no more radio airplay, or licensing a deal to play snippets of her music in movies, tv shows etc - this was known to #TeamAaliyah as the 'dark era', and fans would riot every chance they got demanding for her music to be released.
The Haughton Estate as well as Blackground could NOT make a single post or enjoy life without at least half of the responses inquiring about Aaliyah's music soon birthing the popular hashtag #FreeAaliyahsMusic
At midnight this morning (8/20/21), fans would now be able to finally stream her music and hold launch parties of their own celebrating the victory - unfortunately, the Haughton Estate was not too happy with the release of her music and would start a hashtag of their own #IStandWithAaliyah in protest of the release giving vague hints that the tactics Blackground pulled was shady. Fans then speculated that there may have been an agreement behind the scenes to launch the music that went sour.
It's nice to be able to walk into a grocery store or turn on the radio and actually be able to hear something other than her AANBAN tracks. I love being apart of Team Aaliyah!
As of midnight 8/20 - Fans run to Spotify to check on the statistical data and notice significate numbers which goes to prove that Aaliyah was loved and very very much missed in music today.

Why Indie Artists Are a Rarity on Radio: ‘If You Don’t Pay, You Don’t Move Up’
Promotion executives from independent labels tell Billboard that a pay-to-play "toll" is keeping them off the airwaves.
Not long ago, a major-label radio promotion executive had a song climbing into the top 10 in his format. Eager to maintain the track’s upward momentum, he tried to get a station in a small city in the Northeast to put the song into rotation. There was only one problem: That station worked with a middleman, known as an independent radio promoter, who controlled what tracks received airplay. And that middleman demanded $3,000 for an “add.”
“It frustrates the hell out of me,” the executive says. “But if you don’t pay, you don’t move up,” he notes, referring to the radio airplay charts.
Adding to the frustration: The cost was high enough to make even a deep-pocketed major label think twice. In the world of independent labels, though, $3,000 to get one song played on one station in a small market can be prohibitive. “Majors can throw so much money at a release and get it running up the chart,” says one executive with experience running radio campaigns for indie labels. “As an independent label, you can get something played at a small handful of commercial stations. Once your budget runs out, you almost have a built-in ceiling.”
This has become a growing concern for indie labels, according to promotion executives who spoke on the condition of anonymity, to the point where some are considering appealing for help from government regulators or investigators. While radio rarely breaks hits in the streaming era outside of country music, it remains important in building recognition at a mass scale, as well as raising awareness in local markets for artists on tour. Radio airplay charts continue to be a metric of success in the music industry internally, and airplay remains one of the components of the Billboard charts.
Over half a dozen promotion executives say it is still common to have to pay in money or goods to get a song added to a station’s playlist or to increase its spin count. Independent labels are battling to gain exposure for their artists by any means necessary in a ruthlessly competitive musical landscape, and these sorts of promotional costs put them at a distinct disadvantage with the majors.
Promotion executives offer varying estimates of the costs of campaigns, but sources say a serious push at triple A can run $30,000 and up, while making an impact at alternative radio is likely going to cost at least $40,000, but could take more than $60,000. A campaign at active rock and adult top 40 will often set a record company back even more, these sources say, and if a label sets its sights on the top of the mainstream R&B/hip-hop or top 40 airplay charts, the budget is likely going to be six figures. (Though one source claims you can launch a campaign at top 40 with $70,000.) A pair of promotion executives say that between 20% and 40% of this money, depending on the format, will go to independent promoters who control access to specific stations.
But several indie-label executives say a budget of $15,000 for a radio campaign is their ceiling. Shelling out for airplay “is the cost of doing business,” says one promotion executive at an indie label. “The problem is that the cost is getting more and more.”
It’s not surprising, then, that major labels accounted for more than 85% of the tracks on Billboard’s year-end 2021 Radio Songs chart. For comparison’s sake, a conservative estimate from December 2021 pegs the major labels’ share of recorded-music revenue for the year at 66.1% — indicating that indie labels play a larger role in the overall music ecosystem than they do on the airwaves. The three biggest radio companies either did not respond to questions about promotional costs or declined to comment.
Paying to get songs on the air has been a fixture of the music industry since the early days of rock’n’roll. Congressional hearings in the 1950s resulted in a 1960 decision that prohibited direct payments by labels (aka payola), but a loophole opened the door to independent promoters as middlemen. In 1990, when Fredric Dannen published Hit Men, his investigative history of the music business, he reported that major labels were laying out as much as $80 million a year (the equivalent of $210 million today) to middlemen to get their songs spins during the 1980s.
A 2004 investigation by the New York attorney general’s office — then under Eliot Spitzer — made it clear that the practice of paying for airplay was still flourishing: “Please be advised that in this week’s Jennifer Lopez Top 40 spin increase of 236 we bought 63 spins at the cost of $3600,” one promotion executive wrote in a 2005 email obtained by the attorney general.
In 2007, following the Spitzer investigation, the Federal Communications Commission secured a pledge from four major radio chains to play more independent music on the air. But little changed. A 2008 study by the Future of Music Coalition noted that “over 92% of independent labels report no change in their relationship with commercial radio since the settlement.” What’s more, “nearly half of respondents [surveyed] reported that payola remains a determining factor in commercial radio airplay.”
Today, promotion executives say the pay-to-play “toll” remains in place at some stations, and radio playlists have narrowed even further, making each slot on the airwaves that much more competitive. “It’s hard to work a record through the system if you don’t have some type of resources,” says one radio promotion veteran with extensive major-label experience. “It can be a struggle for some of these smaller labels that are trying to get things going, especially at the stations that have those deals [with specific independent promoters who require a toll]. Certain companies aren’t going to be able to compete with [a major] when it comes to payments and what they can afford to pay an indie promoter.”
As a result, some independent labels have chosen to tap out. “There are certain formats that indie labels don’t venture into because they just can’t afford it,” says one longtime member of the independent music community who has worked at a variety of labels, pointing especially to top 40 and country radio. “Most independents I know have just given up.”
“The airwaves are designed not to be built for all,” adds one frustrated promotion executive who works at an indie label. “You can only come to the table if you’re spending the right amount of money and you know the right people.”

Seeing Stars! The 9 Most Successful 'Voice' Competitors of All Time
'The Voice' may never find its Carrie Underwood but that's okay.
One of the major complaints about The Voice is that it has yet to launch a major recording career like American Idol did in its early days. But host Carson Daly says that the days of discovering a Carrie Underwood or Kelly Clarkson on a TV show are long gone.
“Your measuring stick is antiquated because of the way that technology has proliferated,” Daly exclusively tells Parade. “For instance, I could never do TRL [his Total Request Live show] again because this generation has the internet and doesn’t need MTV to get music. There are a lot of YouTubers, and my kids listen to music of people that you have never heard of, that I have never heard of. For some people, just getting to a place where they can support themselves making music, thanks to The Voice—that’s winning.”
And The Voice has several of those types of winners. Former contestants, including a couple of Grammy nominees, who are grateful to the show because their lives changed 100 percent, because as a result of appearing on The Voice, they now make their entire living making music, rather than having to have a day job to pay the bills.
Most Successful Voice Competitors
Koryn Hawthorne (Season 8)
was a member of Pharrell Williams’ team and finished fourth in her season. She has gone on to have a successful gospel career and was nominated twice for Grammys in the Gospel Performance/Song category: in 2019 for “Won’t He Do It” and in 2020 for “Speak the Name.” She has received several other nominations as well, including Billboard Awards and Soul Train Music Awards. She even broke the record for the longest chart-topping woman on the Hot Gospel Songs chart.
Nicolle Galyon (Season 2)
got just one coach to turn (Adam Levine) when she sang “You Save Me” during her Blind Audition. The country singer was eliminated during the Battle Rounds but made a discovery along the way: She didn’t want to sing, she wanted to write songs. While on the show, she met performersRaeLynn and Miranda Lambert (who was married to Blake Shelton at the time) and credits those friendships for launching her songwriting career. She earned her first No. 1 song with “We Were Us,” performed by Keith Urban and Lambert. She also has co-written songs for Lady A, Kenny Chesney, Florida Georgia Line and many others and co-wrote and co-produced RaeLynn’s first full-length album, WildHorse. Gaylon has two Grammy nominations for Best Country Song: in 2015 for Miranda Lambert’s “Automatic” and in 2019 for Dan + Shay’s “Tequila.”
Cassadee Pope (Season 3)
was the first female country singer to win The Voice. The former member of Blake Shelton's team has gone on to find success in country music, but a high point was when she and Chris Young received a Grammy nomination for Best Country Duo/Group Performance for “Think of You” in 2017.  Her single "Tomorrow Night" was released in Sept. and was followed by her third album, Thrive, in October.
Christina Grimmie (Season 3)
finished in third place on The Voice, and went on to open for Selena Gomez and The Scene, and perform backup vocals for Allstar Weekend and the Jonas Brothers. Christina's career was on the upswing—she had 2 million YouTube subscribers—when she was shot to death during a post-concert meet-and-greet with fans on June 10, 2016, in Orlando, Fla. She was 22.
Danielle Bradbery (Season 4 winner)
was only 16 when she won The Voice, the youngest winner at that point in time but no longer the record. Since graduating from Team Blake Shelton, Bradbery has gone on to have a successful country music career with 15 songs on the Hot Country chart, including "Goodbye Summer" with Thomas Rhett which rose to No. 39 in 2018. Her 2020 single "Never Have I Ever" reached No. 58 on U.S. Country Airplay, and her most-streamed song, "Sway," has 50 million streams. In July 2021, she released her latest single, "Stop Draggin' Your Boots."
Morgan Wallen (Season 6)
who was initially on Team Usher, but later stolen by Adam Levine, was eliminated in the Playoffs but soon headed to Nashville to try his hand at country music, rather than the pop songs he sang on the show. He had almost instant success, dropping four No. 1 singles, winning the CMA award for New Artist of the Year and releasing the double album Dangerous. “He was being hailed as the next big thing, maybe the next big crossover artist from country,” executive producer Audrey Morrissey says. Today, Wallen is more famous for getting in trouble. He got booted off of Saturday Night Live for breaking COVID-19 protocols in late 2020 and was banned from country radio after he was caught on video hollering a racial slur in February 2021.
Jordan Smith (Season 9)
was a four-chair turn who chose Team Adam. He went on to write “Ashes” for the Deadpool 2 soundtrack, which was performed by Celine Dion. In addition, he's had three No. 1 songs on the Hot Christian Songs chart and three top 10s. Jordan represented the state of Kentucky for NBC’s American Song Contest in 2022, for which he wrote and performed “Sparrow.” He finished in third place.
Sawyer Fredericks (Season 8)
The winner from Team Pharrell had an original song, “Silent World,” featured on the Season 6 debut of the Netflix original series Longmire, which aired in 2017, and his song “This Fire” was covered by John Ondrasik for a 2018 episode of Code Black. His  latest album debuted in 2020 called Flowers for You.
Loren Allred (Season 3)
was eliminated in the Playoffs but went on to make her Billboard Hot 100 debut with the Platinum-selling "Never Enough" from the musical soundtrack to The Greatest Showman. This past January, she was the featured singer on the original song “Start a Wave” when “World of Color – One” for Disney 100 debuted at Disneyland. Strangely, though, she made a return to reality TV, auditioning for Britain’s Got Talent’s 15th season in 2022, finishing in ninth place. In addition, she performs on Michael Bublé's Love album for a duet of "Help Me Make It Through the Night," and alongside David Foster, as part of his An Intimate Evening PBS concert special and album.

Harry Styles‘ “As It Was” rebounds for a fourth week at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart. It soared in at the summit seven weeks earlier.
The track is the lead single from Styles’ new album Harry’s House. Released May 20 on Erskine/Columbia Records, the set blasts in at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart with 521,500 equivalent album units earned in the week ending May 26, according to Luminate – the biggest week for an album in the U.S. this year.
Concurrently, three other songs from Harry’s House debut in the Hot 100’s top 10: “Late Night Talking” (No. 4), “Music for a Sushi Restaurant” (No. 8) and “Matilda” (No. 9).
Styles is the first British soloist to chart as many as four songs in the Hot 100’s top 10 simultaneously. Among all British acts, he joins only The Beatles, who achieved the feat for five weeks in 1964, including two frames in which they logged five each.
...
“As It Was” tallied 73.7 million radio airplay audience impressions (up 5%) and 35.6 million streams (up 58%) in the May 20-26 tracking week. The song scores its highest weekly radio reach and its second-best streaming sum, following its debut (43.8 million; April 16).
The track spends a third week at No. 1 on the Radio Songs chart and surges 10-1 for a second week atop Streaming Songs, after it debuted at the summit.
“As It Was” is joined in the Hot 100’s top 10 by three debuts also from Harry’s House: “Late Night Talking” (No. 4), “Music for a Sushi Restaurant” (No. 8) and “Matilda” (No. 9). The cuts start at Nos. 3, 4 and 5 on Streaming Songs with 27 million, 20.8 million and 20.4 million streams, respectively.
“Talking” additionally drew 6.1 million in radio audience and debuts at No. 35, as an unpromoted track, on the Pop Airplay chart; “As It Was” leads the list for a third week.
Styles ups his count to seven solo Hot 100 top 10s – one more than One Direction, in which he broke through, achieved (in 2012-15).
As Styles becomes the first British soloist with four concurrent Hot 100 top 10s, he’s the 12th act overall to land the honor, following Drake (a record nine on the Sept. 18, 2021, chart), Juice WRLD (five, July 25, 2020), The Beatles (five, April 4 and 11, 1964), Kendrick Lamar, Bad Bunny, Future, J. Cole, Post Malone, Lil Wayne, T-Pain and 50 Cent (highs of four each).

Today Live! Can’t wait to sit down with old pal, Steve Conte, who's got one of the greatest rock voices I’ve ever heard (he was Paul Simon's vocal stand-in for years). Steve’s played with just about everyone throughout his career, has a classic Chuck Berry story, for one, and countless other great rock tales.
Steve’s first road gig was touring with Blood Sweat & Tears in the mid-80s, right around the time I began booking him at The Rock ’N Roll Cafe on Bleecker Street in New York. From there, Steve played with J. Geils Band frontman Peter Wolf, the before-mentioned Chuck Berry, toured with Billy Squier, Willy Deville, Eric Burdon, was a member of reformed New York Dolls and has shared the stage with an innumerable number of his heroes from Sam Moore to Springsteen. Steve’s been writing for, recording, and touring with former Hanoi Rocks frontman Michael Monroe for the past 10ish years, supporting Guns & Roses, The Foo Fighters, and Motorhead.
Steve's solo debut, The Steve Conte NYC Album, included a tune, OK DJ, which earned him the #2 Coolest Song of the Year, behind Bruce Springsteen, on Little Steven's Underground Garage... members of the Foo Fighters, Alice Cooper, Mott The Hoople, The Wallflowers, Southside Johnny & The Asbury Jukes, to name a few, joined Steve on the album.
Steve’s "covers" album, International Cover-Up, enjoys much airplay on Little Steven's Underground Garage. The opening track, "Somebody's Gonna Get Their Head Kicked In Tonight" was voted #5 Coolest Song Of The Year, behind The Monkees and Ian Hunter, and his Gimme Gimme Rockaway was another Coolest Song of The Week and signaled the solo recognition he’s long deserved.
Steve’s new single, Fourth Of July, co-written with Andy Partridge of XTC, serves as a preview to his upcoming LP, due in 2024, as a follow-up to his acclaimed solo album, Bronx Cheer, released on Little Steven’s label, Wicked Cool Records in 2021, which featured the single, Recovery Doll, which also enjoyed a week as the Coolest Song In The World, on The Underground Garage.
Check out the latest coolness of Conte

Steve played regularly at every club I booked, was part of my weekly house jam band, and has done pretty much every project since. So look forward to sitting down with this guy, one of my all-time favorite rockers, catching up, and hearing that voice! And, that guitar!

Taylor Swift scores one of the most historic weeks in the 64-year history of the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart, as she becomes the first artist to claim the survey’s entire top 10 in a single frame.
Tumblr media
Swift surpasses Drake, who logged nine of the Hot 100’s top 10 for a week in September 2021.
Leading the way for Swift on the Hot 100, “Anti-Hero” launches at No. 1, marking her ninth career leader.
All 10 songs in the Hot 100’s top tier are from Swift’s new LP Midnights, which, released Oct. 21 on Republic Records, blasts in at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart with the biggest week for any release in seven years.
Swift also surges past Drake and The Beatles for the most titles from the top of the Hot 100 in a single week, as her monopoly of the top 10 bests those acts, each of whom infused the top five for a week each in 2021 and 1964, respectively.
Meanwhile, as Swift adds 10 new Hot 100 top 10s, she now boasts the most top 10s among women in the chart’s history, with 40 (surpassing Madonna’s 38). Among all acts, she trails only Drake (59 top 10s).
Plus, Midnights becomes the first album ever with as many as 10 Hot 100 top 10s, besting the nine from Drake’s Certified Lover Boy in 2021.
The Hot 100 blends all-genre U.S. streaming (official audio and official video), radio airplay and sales data. All charts (dated Nov. 5, 2022) will update on Billboard.com tomorrow (Nov. 1). For all chart news, you can follow @billboard and @billboardcharts on both Twitter and Instagram.
Here’s a rundown of Swift’s unprecedented week on the Hot 100.
Top 10: Streams, Airplay & Sales
As Swift swoops in with a clean sweep of the Hot 100’s top 10, here’s a look at the songs’ official streams, radio airplay and sales in the U.S. in the Oct. 21-27 tracking week that drove their chart debuts:
Rank, Title: Streams / Airplay Audience / Sales:
No. 1, “Anti-Hero”: 59.7 million streams / 32 million in airplay audience / 13,500 sold
No. 2, “Lavender Haze”: 41.4 million / 2.4 million / 2,800
No. 3, “Maroon”: 37.6 million / 471,000 / 2,900
No. 4, “Snow on the Beach,“ feat. Lana Del Rey: 37.2 million / 615,000 / 2,600
No. 5, “Midnight Rain”: 36.9 million / 449,000 / 2,200
No. 6, “Bejeweled”: 35.5 million / 1.6 million / 16,100
No. 7, “Question…?”: 31 million / 425,000 / 21,400
No. 8, “You’re on Your Own, Kid”: 34.1 million / 498,000 / 1,500
No. 9, “Karma”: 33 million / 1.9 million / 3,400
No. 10, “Vigilante Shit”: 32.2 million / 424,000 / 6,400
With her total takeover of the Hot 100’s top 10 (with assistance from Lana Del Rey at No. 4), Swift passes Drake, who claimed nine of the top 10 (all except for No. 6) on the chart dated Sept. 18, 2021, when nine songs, all from his album Certified Lover Boy, bounded into the region, led by “Way 2 Sexy,” featuring Future and Young Thug, at No .1, as the set opened atop the Billboard 200.
Meanwhile, Swift passes Drake and The Beatles for the most titles from the top of the Hot 100 in a single week. Before Drake’s top five tally on Sept. 18, 2021, The Beatles held Nos. 1-5 on the chart dated April 4, 1964.
Swift’s Nine Hot 100 No. 1s
Here’s a recap of Swift’s nine Hot 100 No. 1s, notched over a span of just over 10 years:
“We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together,” three weeks at No. 1, beginning Sept. 1, 2012
“Shake It Off,” four weeks, beginning Sept. 6, 2014
“Blank Space,” seven weeks, beginning Nov. 29, 2014
“Bad Blood,” feat. Kendrick Lamar, one week, June 6, 2015
“Look What You Made Me Do,” three weeks, beginning Sept. 16, 2017
“Cardigan,” one week, Aug. 8, 2020
“Willow,” one week, Dec. 26, 2020
“All Too Well (Taylor’s Version),” one week, Nov. 27, 2021
“Anti-Hero,” one week to-date, Nov. 5, 2022
Swift becomes one of 16 acts with nine or more Hot 100 No. 1s, and one of seven solo women, joining Mariah Carey (19), Rihanna (14), Madonna (12), Whitney Houston (11), Janet Jackson (10) and Katy Perry (nine). The Beatles lead all acts with 20 Hot 100 No. 1s.
Swift’s Fifth No. 1 Hot 100 Debut
Swift debuts atop the Hot 100 with a fifth title, as “Anti-Hero” (the 64th single to enter at No. 1) follows the chart-topping premieres of “Shake It Off,” “Cardigan,” “Willow” and “All Too Well (Taylor’s Version).” With her latest, she ties Ariana Grande for the most No. 1 entrances among women.
Overall, Drake leads with seven No. 1 Hot 100 debuts, followed by BTS, Grande, Swift (five each) and Justin Bieber (four).
Record-Extending Simultaneous Billboard 200 & Hot 100 debuts
Thanks to Midnights and “Anti-Hero,” Swift is the first artist to have debuted atop the Billboard 200 and Hot 100 simultaneously as many as four times. (The Billboard 200 began on March 24, 1956, and the Hot 100, on Aug. 4, 1958.)
Swift became the first act to launch with such a double when Folklore and “Cardigan” began atop the Billboard 200 and Hot 100, respectively, on Aug. 8, 2020. She repeated the feat with Evermore and “Willow” (Dec. 26, 2020) and Red (Taylor’s Version) and “All Too Well (Taylor’s Version)” (Nov. 27, 2021).
Drake, with two, is the only other act with multiple such simultaneous starts on the surveys.
Top 10 Streamed, Sold Songs Are by Swift
As on the Hot 100, Swift holds the entire top 10 on Streaming Songs and Digital Song Sales charts. Swift is the first artist to triple up with the top 10 on all three charts simultaneously; no other act had previously claimed Nos. 1-10 in a single week on the Hot 100 or Digital Song Sales, while only Drake had swept the tier on Streaming Songs (Sept. 18, 2021).
“Anti-Hero” debuts at No. 1 on Streaming Songs with the biggest streaming week for a song (59.7 million) in 2022, passing Jack Harlow’s “First Class” (54.6 million; April 23). No song has logged more weekly streams since Drake’s “Way 2 Sexy” soared in with 67.3 million (Sept. 18, 2021).
Swift adds her sixth Streaming Songs No. 1, tying Bieber for the second-most, after Drake’s 14.
On Digital Song Sales, Swift’s “Question…?” debuts at No. 1, marking her record-extending 24th leader. (Rihanna ranks second with 14.) Helping its coronation, “Question…?” was made available for sale in Swift’s webstore on the last day of the chart’s tracking week (Oct. 27) in its original and instrumental form, each for 69 cents, as was “Bejeweled,” new at No. 4 on Digital Song Sales.
Notably, the streams for Swift’s songs in the Hot 100’s top 10 were strong enough that all 10 tracks would’ve ranked in the region even without any chart points from sales or radio airplay.
‘Anti-Hero’ Roars at Radio
Speaking of radio reach, “Anti-Hero,” the first promoted single from Midnights, debuts at No. 13 on Radio Songs, the highest debut this year and Swift’s best opening rank among 45 career entries.
The song concurrently places at No. 11 on the Adult Pop Airplay chart, No. 13 on Adult Contemporary and No. 16 on Pop Airplay following its first full week of availability.
Swift Up to 40 Hot 100 Top 10s, the Most Among Women
By instantly adding 10 Hot 100 top 10s, Swift now sports the second-most, 40, in the chart’s history. Previously tied with Michael Jackson, Swift leapfrogs Madonna – as she now claims the most top 10s among women – The Beatles and Rihanna.
Swift first hit the Hot 100’s top 10 with “Love Story” on the chart dated Oct. 4, 2008.
Most Billboard Hot 100 Top 10s:
59, Drake
40, Taylor Swift
38, Madonna
34, The Beatles
31, Rihanna
30, Michael Jackson
29, Elton John
28, Mariah Carey
28, Stevie Wonder
27, Janet Jackson
26, Justin Bieber
25, Lil Wayne
25, Elvis Presley (with the start of Presley’s career having predated the Hot 100’s inception)
Similar to Swift’s timeline, Drake earned the first of his record 59 top 10s in July 2009 and most recently ranked in the bracket this August.
Midnights Clocks Most Hot 100 Top 10s From an Album
Upon its chart start, Swift’s Midnights becomes the first album to generate as many as 10 Hot 100 top 10s. It passes Drake’s Certified Lover Boy, which landed nine, likewise all in the same week (Sept. 18, 2021) that the set started atop the Billboard 200.
ts1989fanatic there’s more in the article but these are the key points.
I have a Question…? Are we sure it’s Halloween and not April 1st other than the fact that these numbers are scary good I thought it might be an April fools prank 😂😂😂😂

Save Stereogum: A 00′s Covers Compilation (2021)
Omega follows close to 100 music outlets (and let’s be honest here, a quarter of them show up consistently on our feeds) to find new music for future radio airplay. We been trailing on Stereogum for a good few years now for some of our indie finds. They hit a snag in terms of funding to maintain their website and online presence, so they recently released a benefit compilation of various artists covering many of the Oughts’ hits. A compilation so good that we at Omega WUSB used at least eight cuts from this substantial compilation, and we might reach back for more. It’s possible that many of these tracks featured are receipts from current songwriters influenced by their favorite artists or a hat-tip to their hits. Doom rockers Thou tackle The Yeah Yeah Yeahs “Maps” with Charly Bliss giving her take of Gwen Stefani’s “Hollaback Girl”, and Bill MacKay’s give his own spin of Nirvana’s once-unreleased cut “You Know You’re Right”. See how experimental rappers clipping. handle J-Kwon’s breakout hit “Tipsy” and hear Jason Isbell & Amanda Shire throw Miley Cyrus’ “Wrecking Ball” in another direction. Many of the original hits came out around and after the genesis of the original Apple iPod, all coming together in relation to signify and defined the Oughts with the latter helping to change the music industry forever. Any fan of their favorite originals should take an ear to decides the current generation of artists either faithfully come close or stray far away from them.

M I just sent some info but I don't think it went through. Anyway BB Yr End Stats are out. You all can find them on Pulse Forum Country. Top Year End Artists, Blake is 15. Top Country Album Artists, he's #11.Country Airplay Songs-CBAACB #43 (not bad for a 2021 release), Hot Country Songs -CBAACB #53. Digital Song Sales #34. Top Country Albums Artists, Blake is #11. Top Country Albums of 2022 he has 2 at 28(Reloaded) and 43 (Gods Country: Fully Loaded). Some who have had their PR team/label/touring company throw everything but the sink at the industry didn't do as well as they would like you to think. Anyway not bad for a guy who had a quiet year in reality. 2nd thing, the Neil McCoy bit is a joke. He's a joke. He throws Blake's name out every chance he gets. The Voice is not going to hire a 64 year old class D country singer. As someone pointed out he threw that out there when Blake first announced it. He is just being nice and giving the old guy a bone. Trust me. He is on no one's radar. Go check out the year end stats. Carrie did better in some areas then her rival and yet gets ignored at Grammy time. Money talks
Thank you for finding all these stats for us! I agree with you, there’s no way that Neal is going to be even considered as a possibility for Blake’s seat, but Blake was being nice and responding to Neal’s comment about being considered. If I had to make my own short list of possible coaches, it would be Carrie, Keith, and Brad on the established stars list, and Jimmie Allen and Kelsea Ballerini on the newer stars list.

Gabby B Comes Alive on New Single
Tumblr media
Get ready to vibe to the infectious beats of Brazilian pop vocalist Gabby B's latest hit single, "Nothing to Me," dropping on April 5, 2024. Following the success of her previous singles "Lickorish" and "Si No Sabias," earlier this year, Gabby B returns with a captivating Brazilian funk pop anthem that transcends language barriers.
"Nothing to Me" is a compelling follow-up to "Lickorish," boasting Gabby's signature blend of Portuguese and English lyrics. The song delves into themes of betrayal and disillusionment within relationships, resonating with listeners on a deeply emotional level. Through soulful vocals and vibrant instrumentals, Gabby B delivers a powerful message of empowerment and resilience in the face of heartbreak.
The accompanying visualizer for "Nothing To Me" promises to captivate audiences with its striking imagery. From scenes of Gabby burning mementos of a past relationship to her dynamic performance amidst the rain, the visualizer perfectly complements the song's evocative narrative.
Gabby B and producer Joseph Lopez (@MrHitRecord) once again prove her prowess as a versatile artist capable of crafting music that leaves a lasting impact. Fans can look forward to immersing themselves in the infectious rhythms and poignant storytelling of Gabby B's latest masterpiece.
Starting Friday, April 5, the 2:07 single will be available on all major streaming platforms. The release coincides with Gabby B's music tour in New York and Connecticut later this month with performances during the Brazilian Expo in Long Island City on April 28, and Copacabana Loft 51 in NYC on April 27, 2024.
