Finished my SelePro rewatch and enjoyed it just as much as when it was airing, maybe even more now that I could focus more on its’ strenghts as an individual work, rather than the similarities with aipura. I still think the final episodes were structured a bit weirdly and 9-tie’s formation arc would’ve made a better finale, but overall it’s a very heartfelt idol anime that absolutely gets what makes idol stories work. While it doesn’t have time to develop most of the girls’ characters much, it makes it up by making their interactions as group very endearing and full of life, not to mention how much love and detail is put into the small scenes portraying their mundane life with their families and friends. The world of SelePro feels alive and looks gorgeous too, with Kappe’s expressive and stylish character designs that are just pure eyecandy.

Nagisa is still my favorite even if her character wasn’t expanded on much. Sweet gremlin, scheming but cares deeply for others.
