I read this twitter thread months ago making a super interesting character study on Tatsumi, and I was finally able to find it again, so I wanted to share it!

If you have time, I really recommend reading it—it gives so much insight and and a different perspective on Tatsumi as a character, discussing and pointing out sides of him I haven't seen being brought up before.

My favorite part of the thread is where OP discusses Tatsumi's extreme altruism, and how it borders on selfishness and self-centeredness.

I'm not someone who's affected by unreality type content that often, but ngl it does still get to me sometimes

Mainly in those like. Idk if they're still going, but those "posts from a darker timeline" type blogs freaked me out so much when they were popular. And when I was younger I used to be super freaked out by reblog bait type shit like "oooh you will DIE if you don't rb this!!!" (I have a very vivid memory of one I saw that in hindsight was a joke meant to mock those kinds of posts, but it still made me super anxious for days on end and it was a Bad Time.)

None of this is to say that I only care about it b/c it affects me on some level or that it's something people grow out of, because neither of those things are true.

Idk where this is going, I'm just kinda thinking out loud, but I see a lot of people on tumblr (not any of y'all ofc, just in general) mocking the concept of people being actually anxious or paranoid about those kinds of posts and it just feels like... such a lack of understanding and compassion. Like I genuinely don't care if this is funny to you or not--at least fucking try to understand that just because you might not see the potential harm doesn't mean there is none. You're not a bad person for sharing those kinds of jokes or memes, but PLEASE if you do, tag them so people who need to can avoid them.

god the surfing part of superstar saga is so fucking funny to me imagine being that guy just minding your own business when two brothers in denim overalls run up to you, telling you they need a surfboard to get to the snowy mountain where literally no one goes. you tell them there's no surfboards available and suggest they find a substitute, thinking they'll just find something to use in the forest or whatever. next minute, the tall green dude's standing over the weird slot in the ground, and the short red dude's whipped a golden mallet that's bigger than him out of his pocket, raised it, and brought it slamming down onto his brother, pushing him into the slot in a way that would very much indicate he has no bones. then the red one pulls him out and surfs off into the horizon on him with absolutely no explanation, and the green brother's completely chill with all of this. how would you even respond to that.
