Payton waited for Vincent to share his big news. At first, she wondered if Renee would show up to reveal her pregnancy! She smiled at the thought. Instead, a young man came and greeted them warmly. Observing him carefully, he seemed close to her son. But what could the news possibly be?

"Mum, this is Isaac…my half-brother," Vincent leaned back on his chair, unsure how she would react. Isaac watched both closely.

Immediately, Payton felt on edge, learning of his relation to that man, Ashton Kingsley. So many years had passed and in truth, she no longer felt much peril in her or Vincent's life. Hearing their intentions of discovering what happened to that man, she knew they simply wanted to disclose that information. The things he did and then disappearing into thin air. What even happened to him? Was he really dead like the police say? Or was he hiding somewhere far away?

After concluding their discussion, Payton asked about Isaac's family. "My mum, she died when I was young," Isaac was silent for a moment as if he was figuring out how to answer, "And I have other siblings, but we're…estranged." They offered their deepest sympathies and said he was part of their family now.

He appreciated their open arms.

Sooooo my boy (Right, on the left lol) is not DND but ! I have the AU for him and he's a cleric. Then Kinkaide (on the right) for @disappearingreappearingink is indeed DND. A paladin/warlock. They're both very hurt people who want to help and will do what it takes to help. They are SO similar but also wildly different. Kinkaide is much more optimistic and pleasant (sunshine angel who can do no wrong!) while Right is pessimistic and blunt and foul-mouthed.

Anyway Kinkaide has had it ROUGH for most of the campaign but esp the last two sessions so. Here's a gift for her getting told "hey that's fucked up" by my OC.

Kid Benji pretending to get captured (something I used to play alllll the time) got me thinking — in another, less painful life, which of the T$$ crew would be into whump? What type?

Benji is the most likely to be into it! He likes the more comfort-heavy stuff. He'd prefer "guys in distress" type situations where the actual bodily harm is minimal but there's a lot of fear and emotion. And as an adult who's been put into Situations, he'd 100% want to roleplay "I've been captured come save me" with a partner as a form of catharsis. (especially if in the aforementioned Situations he had to escape on his own)

Joy is not so much into whump, but she's a sucker for angst, and would also enjoy gore, but in a more "ooh cool" way than a whumperflies way

Jericho is not into whump, but if he were, he'd probably enjoy robot/android whump (he forms unspoken bonds with his own computers so it would pull at his heart a little more than average)

Hunter isn't into whump, but if he tried it out, he'd have a guilty pleasure with some of the more extreme "whumpee gets tortured and almost dies but gets saved by their friends at last minute" fics. He would also prefer nonhuman whumpees

Kaius isn't into whump aside from minor sickfic type stuff

Sahota might be a little into whump, but it isn't something he'd actively seek out. Back when he was running TTRPGs for friends he wasn't above throwing in heart and gut wrenching moments
