Say hello to my little frens.
First, we have Peep. A one-eyed, chubby boy. He was born with a congenital defect that left him w an underdeveloped eye. He’s in charge of all the other kids. He keeps everyone in line.
Then we have Pratt.
He’s Peeps brother/littermate. Also born with a congenital defect, Pratt has what I call a Wonky leg. It’s shorter than the rest. And tbh, it’s adorable. It doesn’t stop him from running around like a wild thing.
Next up is Ducky. My only “normal” animal. She’s bonkers. She’s sassy. She’s weird. She climbs on my roof and hangs there all day. She starts trouble at least 4 times a day.. She also gets away with it at least 4 times a day. 🥲
Next up is my deaf, blind, one eyed guy named Gary. Watching him navigate through my house always fascinates me. He uses vibrations, the walls, the furniture and his insane sense of smell to get around the house with ease.
And then there’s Birdie. My 18/19yo senior cat. She originally belonged to my friend K who was diagnosed with breast cancer at age 35. Sadly, nearly two years ago, K passed away after her cancer metastasized. Birdie holds a special place in my heart. Getting the chance to care for her and be her second mama is an honor. It’s like caring for a piece of my friends heart. Birdie meant so much to her. RIP, K. I miss you so much.
Coming up next is Georgie. I rescued him last December when I heard about a terrible hoarding case in which 14 affenpinschers (including Georgie) were locked and left in kennels almost 24hrs a day…the kennels were stacked one on top of the other outside. Despite where he came from, Georgie only knows how to show love. And he just wants to be loved in return. He’s come to the right place.
And my newest addition, Marmalade. Marm has manx syndrome; a genetic mutation that can effect the spine, similar to Spina Bifida. She also has no tail and hops around like a bunny because her hind legs are weak. But she’s fearless. She’s almost 8 months old and barely 5lbs.
✨Adopt, don’t shop. Please and thanks. ✨

Affenpinscher
Loyal, curious, and famously amusing, this almost-human toy dog is fearless out of all proportion to his size. As with all great comedians, it's the Affenpinscher's apparent seriousness of purpose that makes his antics all the more amusing.
The Affen's apish look has been described many ways. They've been called 'monkey dogs' and 'ape terriers.' The French say diablotin moustachu ('mustached little devil'), and Star Wars fans argue whether they look more like Wookies or Ewoks.
Standing less than a foot tall, these sturdy terrier-like dogs approach life with great confidence. 'This isn't a breed you train, 'a professional dog handler tells us, 'He's like a human. You befriend him.' The dense, harsh coat is described as 'neat but shaggy' and comes in several colors; the gait is light and confident. They can be willful and domineering, but mostly Affens are loyal, affectionate, and always entertaining. Affen people say they love being owned by their little monkey dogs. (source)

My July Patreon print was announced a few days ago on Patreon!
The Akita was trained as hunting dogs in Japan. They would hunt wild boar, elk, and even bears. The dogs would lure the bear out and hold him until the hunter arrived.
June’s rewards are almost done! Sign up now to get the Affenpinscher rewards before July’s rewards come in! :D

Affenpinscher
The Affenpinscher, also known as the Monkey Terrier, is a terrier-like toy Pinscher breed of dog.
The breed is German in origin and dates back to the seventeenth century. The name is derived from the German Affe (ape, monkey). The breed predates and is ancestral to the Griffon Bruxellois (Brussels Griffon) and Miniature Schnauzer.
Dogs of the Affenpinscher type have been known since about 1600, but these were somewhat larger, about 30 to 33 centimetres (12 to 13 in), and came in colors of gray, fawn, black, tan, and red. White feet and chests were also common. The breed was created to be a ratter, working to remove rodents from kitchens, granaries, and stables.

Affenpinscher | Walking In Dog Show Ring | New York
This photo is a little different than most dog photos I share. It is especially different from most dog show photos I share.
I am usually focused on the dogs. I want to isolate and showcase the dogs. That is my singular focus.
When I am sharing photos of dogs at dog shows I usually don’t show any aspect of the human at the other end of the leash if I can help it at all.
There are a couple…

Affenpinscher
the first breed on the list, the Affenpinscher! A pinscher-type breed originating from Germany. I'm against the breeding of brachycephalic breeds, but this guy was fun to draw! I also forgot there were 6 accepted/recognised coat colours before I coloured this guy solid black lol.
Breed group: Toy
Size: 24-29 cm (9.5-11.5 inches) at the shoulder, 3-6 kg (6.6-12 lbs)
Average life expectancy: 12-15 years
AKC breed popularity ranking: 148 of 201
