Main Summary: After finally moving into his very first apartment per Ladybug’s suggestion, Adrien discovers something no movie or TV show could have ever prepared him for: someone else’s hamster. Marinette was so excited to have her first pet. If only she could figure out how it keeps escaping. At least now there’s an excuse to talk to the new neighbor. (Adrinette Never Met AU!)
He tried not to stare too hard at Marinette’s door as he passed it. Was she home right now? Did she have work? Could she be out running errands? Would she be happy to see him if he knocked? His hand ran through his hair, pulling at the strands. He needed to get inside and relax. With a dejected sigh, Adrien opened his door. “Adrien!” Plagg’s voice screeched across the apartment before he even had a chance to cross the threshold. The kwami zipped to the door, frustration clear on his features. “Where were you?” he asked. Adrien opened his mouth to answer, but Plagg didn’t give him the chance. “It’s back!” “It…?” Adrien blinked, not understanding quite at first. Plagg tutted at the gasp he let out once the wires finally connected in his brain. “Marinette’s hamster?” he guffawed. “Really?” “Yes! It’s running around the kitchen!” Plagg violently gestured with his arms. “What if it’s trying to find my camembert? You have to do something!” Adrien felt a rush of emotions flood his brain. This was it. His reason. His chance. He pushed past Plagg into the kitchen, determined to catch that hamster. “Where? Where was it?” he asked, frantically scanning his kitchen for any sign of gray and white.
only adrien would find it lucky to find a hamster in his apartment twice...

Marichat May Day 10: Cooking Together
This story is a sequel to my Marinette March and Adrinette April stories; I highly recommend reading those first.
You can also read this story on AO3: Cloudburst
---
Marinette couldn’t have put into words how strange it felt when Griffe wrapped an arm around her waist.
Being so close to a Chat Noir, knowing that it wasn’t her Chat Noir, was startlingly painful.
“Are you scared of heights?” Griffe inquired, bringing out the baton.
“No, not at all,” Marinette said. She paused, warring briefly with herself, before she put her arm around his neck to better hold on.
“Okay, good. Hold on tightly, Mademoiselle. I’ll have you where you want to go in no time.” Griffe extended the baton slightly, setting the bottom against the ground. Then he gripped the top and pushed the button to extend it fully, launching them both several dozen feet into the air.
It was a rush, and not in the good way.
Marinette had thought that being Ladybug had forever abolished any fear of heights. After all, she could soar above Paris effortlessly when she had her yoyo in hand. And even the handful of times when she hadn’t been transformed, and Chat Noir had been tasked with moving her civilian self around the city, she had never been afraid. Nestled in her partner’s arms, it had never even occurred to her to be scared.
But it was something different to be so high above the city with someone she didn’t know, and who she had no reason to trust. Marinette’s stomach swooped with anxiety and she found herself squeezing her eyes shut. Even the thought that if Griffe dropped her, she could transform before she hit the ground didn’t do much to make her feel better.
She told herself not to think about it.
To imagine something better.
Like cuddling with Adrien, or studying with him, or even cooking together… yes. A small smile crossed her face as she pictured her and Adrien cooking – no, not cooking. Baking together. Marinette was no master when it came to sweets, but she knew enough about the basics to teach something completely new to baking like Adrien. And she was positive he would love to learn.
It probably wouldn’t been smarter to look at the city and see how the layout was different from her world, but Marinette kept her eyes shut and indulged in her little daydream of teaching Adrien to bake.
Then came the moment when Griffe touched down and stayed down, and then he said, “Mademoiselle, you lied to me. You said you weren’t scared of heights.” His voice was faintly teasing, but also held enough concern that Marinette didn’t feel too indignant when she opened her eyes.
Her heart skipped a beat.
Griffe was close.
Really close.
He was looking at her with a faintly worried expression, perhaps trying to assess whether she would collapse on the spot if he let go. This close, she could see every detail of his face perfectly. His mask was identical to Chat Noir’s, she realized. It covered the bridge of his nose and crossed his defined cheekbones before disappearing under several wild strands of blond hair.
His eyes…
They were green.
But were they the same shade of green as Chat Noir’s?
She couldn’t remember.
“Mademoiselle?” Griffe said again, lips pinching into a frown.
“I’m okay,” Marinette said quickly, realizing that she had been quiet for much too long.
It really wasn’t appropriate to gaze into another boy’s eyes when you had just figured out that the boy you were in love with was also your beloved partner.
Even if this boy may or may not be an alternate universe version of said beloved partner/love-of-your-life.
“If you’re sure,” Griffe said, not sounding too convinced. “We’re near the school. I can set you down in a little park nearby. Or would you prefer to take it from here?”
Marinette glanced around. They were standing on top of a roof; it wasn’t too bad since they were only three stories off the ground. She could see the roof of Collège Françoise Dupont easily. The school was maybe three or four blocks away. It would be nothing for her to get there on foot.
But she was reluctant to let Griffe leave that easily.
She couldn’t help feeling like he was going to be the key to a successful mission.
So she said, “I’m not good with directions. I’m afraid I’d get lost again. Will you please take me the rest of the way?” And gave him her best pleading smile.
“Of course,” Griffe said easily. He seemed all too willing to believe that she was bad with directions, possibly because he thought she’d ended up on the wrong side of the city looking for the school.
And then, again, they were off.

A Little Competition Never Hurt Anyone: Part One
Alya is hoping that her contest entry, that she wrote about a certain someone, will finally be the solid proof that Marinette needs to open her eyes and see that Lila is not a bad person. Unfortunately, sometimes the best intentions can be misguided and trust misplaced...
This is a little fic idea that I have had for a while now. I’ve read plenty of salt-fics and I think it’s time to let go of the bitterness that the writers have instilled in us over their poor decisions and writing of the characters we love. Let’s start the new year with a little heartbreak and a little bit of redemption. :)
Edit: Now on FF.net! (link) and AO3 (link)
Part 2! (link)
Alya Césaire was many things…
She was a blogger, an up-in-coming journalist, a proud self-proclaimed superhero enthusiast, passionate, stubborn…
But most importantly she was determined.
It was this unstoppable force of will that was one of her greatest strengths. In her mind at least—her parents and the Paris police department may have a few choice words in regards to her obsessions at times, specifically when it came to recording akuma battles for the Ladyblog…
But she couldn’t help it! Once Alya set her mind to something, she committed her heart and soul to it. She would move mountains and cross oceans to achieve the goal that she had set herself. It also something that, in her mind, made her a good friend. The blogger would never hesitate to stand up for her friends and she was most definitely a ‘ride or die’ type of gal when it came to the people she held dear to her. There wasn’t anything she wasn’t willing to do if it meant helping out the people she cared about.
It’s why she was so invested in making Adrinette happen, her bestie, Marinette, deserved to have her happily-ever-after and get the guy of her dreams. The young Chinese-French biracial fashion designer deserved to have some good karma come her way. She was always working so hard to help everyone else achieve their dreams and goals, killing it as class rep, designing for big names like Jagged Stone and Clara Nightingale, helping out her parents in best bakery in all of Paris, AND she was such a big help when it came to watching the twins so Alya and Nino could have an extra date or two (even if they did tend to dump them on her last minute…).
So if anyone deserved for the universe to smile on him or her for all the good that they do it was Marinette Dupain-freaking-Cheng.
Alya would fight anyone who said otherwise.
The only other person that Alya personally knew who did as much good was Lila Rossi, the new girl who had joined their class a few months into the school year.
The Italian student had already done so much and was continuing to do so much good for the world! What with her numerous charitable works around the world and all the other awesome stuff that she had done, such as rescuing Jagged Stone’s kitten and consulting with Hollywood directors for their next big film projects, just to name a few things. Alya honestly couldn’t remember them all… Plus! Being Ladybug’s BFF!
If Alya didn’t live in Paris, which was currently being terrorized by some major jerk that used magical butterflies to use people’s emotions against them and turn them into unpredictable monsters, AND hadn’t met Marinette—someone with QUITE the impressive resume all on her own (like seriously, that girl was too humble sometimes)—Alya would have thought that Lila was a bit too good to be true…
But Paris had taught her that NOTHING is as impossible as it seems.
Plus, why would anyone lie about those kinds of things? Alya had no reason to NOT believe Lila when she suddenly had to leave town for a few days in order to attend a fundraising event halfway across the world for homeless animals.
So one would think that Marinette and Lila couldn’t be anything BUT friends, considering how amazing both girls were but that was were everything stopped making sense.
After all, they were both kind, selfless, supportive, cheerful people who were fun to be around and both of them were well accomplished, bright young girls.
But for some reason Marinette just didn't want anything to do with the other girl. The moment Lila was mentioned Marinette would start to close off or not partake in the conversation until it had moved on to a new topic. Or if they were all hanging out as a group, Marinette would put as much distance between her and Lila without just straight up leaving. She never wanted to do any group projects with Italian girl, unless they were randomly assigned, the fashion designer always bailed on girls only activities if she knew Lila was going to be there, and would leave earlier if they didn’t tell her.
Alya just couldn’t understand it. Lila was a nice, sweet, and amazing girl! She was sure that if Marinette would just set her jealousy aside for a minute she would be able to see that and then she and Lila could become great friends.
The aspiring journalist knew that Marinette was capable of it too! She had been able to do it with Kagami
The two Asian girls were now really good friends and were hanging out more as well. There was a steady stream of pictures from Marinette’s Instagram showing the two of them having fun together. Even though Kagami was her main competition when it came to winning Adrien’s heart, it didn’t get in the way of the two of them going out for tea or watching those weird Brazilian dramas they both seemed to like. Hell! The female fencer had even now made it up onto Marinette’s famous picture wall along side all of her other friends from class.
So why couldn’t Marinette do the same for Lila?
Lila didn’t even like Adrien that way! Lila had told Alya that in confidence. So what if the Italian got to model alongside the younger Agreste and spend a lot more time with him? That didn’t mean that she was going to steal him away from Marinette. Lila was NOT that kind of girl.
It was starting to really wear on Alya that two of her closest friends—who were also two of the most amazing people she had ever met—couldn’t be in the same room together without some sort of drama starting up. It usually ended with Lila in tears and Marinette leaving because she was unwilling to apologize. For all of her journalistic and reporter skills Alya could not come up with a logical reason as to why Marinette Dupain-Cheng and Lila Rossi could not be friends.
Then, one day, after another one of these drama filled episodes (they had been talking about their intended Lycee coursework plans) Alya had gotten a notification her phone for an upcoming contest and was struck with inspiration for an absolutely ingenious plan!
If Marinette was unwilling to get past her own jealousy and pettiness and see that Lila was genuinely good person then it was up to Alya to prove it to her… and she knew just the way to do it.
La Compétition Olmpe de Gouges.
One of the biggest and most prestigious journalism contests in all of France that was open to all school age and university students. With many former winners, especially for the higher levels, going on to win other highly sought after internships and being accepted into some of the best journalism programs from around the world.
The theme for this year’s competition: future leaders.
According to the prompt, students would have to write and present a biography about a young person who showed promise as a future leader, the impact they have already had in their community, their achievements, their possible impact in the future, and why it is that they are someone for the world to keep an eye on.
And the young blogger knew exactly whom this prompt would be perfect to write about.
Lycee was just around the corner and Alya wanted to start her Lycee career right with a few professional internships or recognitions underneath her belt. She used to think that her blog would give her a big boost when it came to her extra-curricular activities but after meeting Lila… well it just made Alya realize that she needed to step up her game.
Even just placing in the top twenty would be a big boost for Alya’s writing resume!
Double bonus if this was finally what could convince Marinette to swallow her pride, apologize for not really giving Lila a chance, and FINALLY everyone could friends.
This was a win-win situation all around!
The only downside she could possibly see is if Marinette remained stubborn and refused to face the facts and evidence that Alya was about to practically layout in front of her.
But Alya was confident that she could write and a create a presentation good enough to, not only make it to the final rounds, but ALSO convince the budding designer that she had been wrong about their newest classmate this whole time.
As Alya sat down at her desk she opened up her laptop and pulled up the webpage for the contest and made sure to carefully study the rules, guidelines, and the criteria that the entrees would be judged on. Sloppy work was not something Alya planned on turning in. She pulled out a notepad and started brain storming and outlining some ideas she already had, as well as everything she knew about Lila. Sure there seemed to be some blanks and inconsistencies but Alya was just pulling what she could from her memory at the moment.
Lila had done so many awesome things and she was currently doing even more at the moment that it was hard to keep track of everything. She would have to ask her for more information later but for now Alya was content in just brain storming and outlining. Editing and proofreading may not always be something she always got a chance to do, especially with some of her more recent blog posts, but news tended to happen quickly. Blink and you would miss something. Luckily, the contest deadline was not for another six weeks so Alya had plenty of time to clean everything up and get her facts and sources straight.
It was best to get all of her ideas out at once and then go back to organize them later, just to make sure she didn't lose anything she wanted to touch upon in her entry.
The next thing she had to do was make sure that no one knew what she was up to.
She wanted this to be a surprise.
Alya had realized early on that the best way to get Marinette to agree to something was to not give her enough time to overthink things like she tended to do. Even thought it was a little harsh sometimes… but it was honestly for the girl’s own good.
Sometimes a little spontaneity was a good thing, and Lila had told her the other day about how she had volunteered with a charity that specialized in helping with mental health disorders like anxiety and depression. She had then told her all about the new study that was showing promise by putting people with anxiety into situations where there was no chance for them to think about what was ‘supposedly’ stressing them out and thus teaching them that those stressors were no big deal after all. It was still in the early stages of testing but Lila had assured her that the people she was helping were already making major progress in dealing with their anxiety.
Plus, when Marinette did finally get a chance to see her work Alya wanted to make sure that Marinette listened with an unbiased opinion and an open mind.
As Alya continued to write everything she knew about what Lila had done and was currently doing, and all the reasons as to why she was definitely someone who would be sure to make a huge positive impact on the world in the future, she could feel a sense of pride in her friends and in herself.
How lucky she was to have crossed passed with someone so selfless and so remarkable. Especially, when you factored in the fact that Lila didn’t even need to wear a mask and use magic jewelry to do good in the world. But what did she expect from someone who was Ladybug’s best friend? It made sense that someone as awe-inspiring as Ladybug was bound to be close to someone like Lila.
The more Alya brainstormed the more her excitement for this contest grew. She could already picture it…
Her giving her presentation in front of all of her friends and family, Marinette and Lila putting their past beef behind them and hanging out like the good friends Alya just knew they could be…
Alya just knew that this contest was the key to it.
She was absolutely sure of it!
And she was determined to prove it.

We all know where this is going...

100 Ways to say I Love You Chapter 36
What do you need me to do? (Adrinette)
Takes place after the events of Chapter 30
AO3
“Guys, I feel so bad, ” Lila wrung her hands together, an expression of fake contrition on her face as she looked over her shoulder in the direction of the art room. “I’m gonna go apologise to Marinette again and see if I can help her portfolio.”
Adrien’s eyes narrowed when he saw Lila grab her coffee cup and he rose as well, shooting her a smile. “I’ll come with you,” he said brightly. “I wanted to talk to her anyway.”
Marinette had spent all her free time between classes this last week in the art room, working to redo her ruined portfolio. He’d barely seen her otherwise-electing to skip his visits as Chat so as not to unnecessarily distract her from the project.
But it had been a week now since Lila had destroyed much of Marinette’s work, and it had become clear to him that she wouldn’t ask for help. Not unless it was offered completely unprompted.
“Oh..great!” Lila exclaimed, her eyes flashing dangerously as she turned on her heel, not waiting for him to catch up.
Hurrying forward, Adrien fell into step beside her. “You gonna pull the same trick twice?”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
“You know exactly what I mean, Lila.” Adrien’s voice hardened “and you’re gonna stop it. Right now.”
Lila scoffed “why would I do that? You really think you can prove anything? You can’t.”
“I’m my fathers son,” Adrien said “that means I’ve picked up a few things over the years. I won’t tell you again, Lila. You’re going to leave Marinette alone if you know what’s good for you.”
“Fine.” Lila must have finally seen something in his expression, because she scowled, throwing her coffee cup in a nearby bin and stalking in the other direction. “It was getting boring anyway.”
Adrien watched her go, his hands shoved deep in his pockets, and it wasn’t until Lila wasn't visible anymore that he turned and continued on his way to the art room.
“Hey, Marinette!”
Marinette jumped at Adrien’s voice, her pencil skittering across the page, stopping-to his relief-just shy of the sketch she had begun.
“A-Adrien!” she exclaimed, staring at him with wide eyes. “Know didn’t you-” Marinette shook her head “I didn’t know you did art.”
“I don’t.” he laughed, sliding into the seat beside her, “but I heard about what happened with your portfolio, and I thought I’d see if I could help you out with anything?”
Marinette stared uncomprehendingly at him for a long moment before she blinked, shaking her head. “Th-that’s very sweet of you to offer but I don’t need…”
Adrien interrupted her “Marinette,” he placed his hand over hers, his voice firm. “I want to help. Now what do you need me to do?”
She didn’t seem to hear him, her eyes fixated on where his hand covered hers, her cheeks flushed and Adrien pulled away, scratching behind his ear awkwardly.
“I-” Marinette seemed to consider something, before nodding finally, turning to flip through her folder. “Okay, you could uh…” her eyes alighted on a piece of paper and she pulled it out with a triumphant “aha!” flipping it around to show him.
“You could help me write out these artist studies? I have the notes here-they didn’t get ruined and you don’t need to write a lot-” she showed him another artist study as an example. “These are the sort of layouts I’ve been doing, so if you could do it like this?” Marinette bit her lip, watching carefully as he studied the page.
Several images of the artists' works were pasted onto the paper, surrounded by paragraphs of writing detailing the artists life and style of art. Adrien hummed “yeah this seems simple enough.”
They worked together in companionable silence until the bell rang for their next lesson, and Adrien helped Marinette gather her things. Their fingers brushed as he handed her her pencil case, and he couldn’t help but laugh at the blush that stained her cheeks once more. “Hey, you have a free period after this one right?” at her nod, he continued “I have one too! I’ll see you then and I can finish these studies for you, yeah?”
Adrien didn’t wait for a response, grabbing his bag and slinging it over his shoulder. He paused when he felt a hand on his arm, looking back at Marinette who met his gaze earnestly. “Thank you, Adrien.”
Putting his hand on hers, Adrien grinned. “It was my pleasure.”

London Holiday
What would happen if Ladybug’s Miraculous Cure landed the train at the London station instead of setting it all the way back in Paris? AKA: Adrien gets to actually go on his freaking field trip! Complete with Adrinette fluff!
---
“Miraculous Ladybug!” Ladybug thrust the helmet into the air. The ladybugs of her power went about fixing everything the akuma had caused. Mainly taking the train out of the middle of the Big Ben clock tower. Where the ladybugs deposited the three heroes though wasn’t the Paris station like they thought. They were now standing in the London station.
“Guess my powers wanted to save your class another train ride.” Ladybug joked.
Max de-transformed and handed the miraculous back to Ladybug. “It was an honor, Ladybug.”
“We couldn’t have done it without you.” She stowed the miraculous back in her yo-yo. “Bug out!”
And with that Ladybug was off and loose in London. Probably was gonna use the miraculous to get back to Paris out of sight of the public. It certainly would have been interesting seeing her swinging from the buildings to the shock of the Londoners. They weren’t exactly used to spotted super heroes running around.
Now that Adrien thought about it they probably freaked everyone out by shooting the train through Big Ben like a thread in a needle.
Max ran to find the others and Adrien discreetly snuck back on the train and de-transformed as well.
“Even miles away from Paris and Hawkmoth and we still had to deal with an akuma.” Plagg grumbled, “There truly is no rest for a superhero.”
“But we’re in London now so we have the rest of the day to relax.” Adrien reminded him. “I get to hang out with my friends and see Big Ben and you can sit in my bag eating camembert till you pass out.”
“Now that is a good vacation!” Plagg perked up.
With suspicion gone Adrien went to find his classmates. Everyone was grabbing their things from the overhead. “Adrien,” Nino saw him first, “Where’d you go? You weren’t at the back of the train.”
“Yeah, I got tossed into one of the bathrooms when Startrain was driving and got locked in.” Adrien shrugged.
“Well you are not going to believe who showed up to save the day while we were in space.” Nino raved about how Ladybug and Chat Noir seemingly appeared at of thin air to save the day.
His phone beeped alerting him that his father knew he snuck out to go on the field trip and demanding he return home at once. As far as he saw it he was already in London and there really wasn’t much his father could do about it. Unless he wanted to send the Gorilla on a two hour long train ride to drag Adrien back to the mansion.
“I’ll come straight home after my field trip. Don’t worry I am safe with my class.” Adrien sent the text and turned off his notifications. Rebellion felt good. Terrifying but good.
After Ms. Bustier made sure everyone was present and accounted for they headed into London. The class was busy gawking at the new sights and taking pictures as they made their way to Big Ben.
“Did you know that the clocktower itself is called the Elizabeth Tower.” Max informed the class, “Big Ben is actually the name of the bell inside the tower.”
“What?” Kim gaped, “Why do they call it Big Ben then?”
“Alliteration?” Alix suggested. “Easier to remember?”
“I don’t think it’ll matter anyways.” Alya sighed. “Big Ben is closed for tours.”
“What?” the entire class halted.
“Alya,” Ms. Bustier approached her, “Are you sure? We had a tour reserved.”
“It was the akuma. Even though Ladybug set everything right the citizens of London aren’t accustomed to the disturbances like we are so they closed down the entire Palace of Westminster while they make sure everything is stable.” Alya continued searching on her phone. “It says it should be reopened in a couple hours so we can always go then.”
“What are we gonna do till then? Hang around on the sidewalk?” the class hung their heads in disappointment.
Oh no. Adrien’s first field trip was not ending like this.
“Ms. Bustier,” Adrien raised his hand, “There are still plenty of other things to do in London. Museums, churches, parks, the London Eye. Why not go to one of those while we wait?”
“Excellent suggestion, Adrien,” Ms. Bustier said, “Okay class, change of plans. While we wait for Big Ben to reopen we’ll kill some time at some other London attractions. All in favor of museum?”
They went around raising their hands for different activities before deciding to visit the Kensington Gardens. It was free and would give the students time to look around, take some pictures, do a little souvenier shopping, and even visit the palace if they wanted to pay the small fee.
“It is decided, now if I can pull up some directions,” Ms. Bustier pulled out her phone.
“No need.” Adrien motioned for everyone to follow. “I know how to get there.”
“Are you sure?” Ms. Bustier asked.
“Know it like the back of my hand.” Adrien led the way for his classmates and in no time at all they were standing at the gate to the gardens.
“Adrien, how’d you know where you were going?” Marinette was at his side. “Did you visit here when you were here for the wedding?”
“Oh no. I wasn’t anywhere near Kensington.” Adrien said.
“Then how did you know?” She raised an eyebrow at him.
He fiddled with his ring for a moment embarrassed by the answer.
“Dude?” Nino clapped an arm on his shoulder.
“I played a lot of Assassin’s Creed Syndicate.” he mumbled under his breath, “The mapping on the game is pretty close to the actual layout.”
There was a faint snicker from the group but was quickly silenced.
“That’s amazing!” Marinette was the first to say something. “Remembering where to go just from walking around in a video game? That’s really impressive.”
“Oh, thanks,” Adrien didn’t feel so weird about it now.
The class split up into their own groups and went around to see the different statues and attractions of the park.
“Nino, Adrien,” Alya grabbed Nino’s hand, “You wanna walk around with Marinette and I?”
“Sure thing.”  the boys followed the girls around the parks stopping every once and a while to admire the scattered statues or memorials.
They were on route to the Italian Gardens when a note of music caught the groups ears. There was a band playing music to a moderate happily listening crowd. Marinette had trouble understanding what they were singing since it was in English but the music had a good jazzy swing to it.
“May I have this dance my good lady?” Nino made an exaggerated bow to Alya.
“Oh yes, my lord,” she exaggerated a curtsy back at him and took his hand as they started dancing to the song.
Adrien glanced at Marinette who was laughing at her friends and tapping her foot to the music. “Wanna dance?” He offered.
“Huh?” she startled, “Oh well, I uh,”
“I promise I won’t step on your toes.” he pulled her in. They watched the swinging, jumping, dance Alya and Nino were doing and tried their best to copy it.
After a minute Marinette started to loosen up and they jumped and circled around the park like a pair of fools. “Do you have any idea what you’re doing?” Marinette asked with a teasing smile.
“Not a clue. You?”
“I think it’s a miracle I haven’t stepped on you yet.” she joked and they both laughed. Adrien gave her a spin that made her giggle.
By the end his heart was racing and Marinette was pink in the face. They applauded the band as they launched into another song.
“Hoo,” Alya and Nino came back up to them. There was a sheen of sweat on their foreheads. “All that dancing works up a thirst.”
“You do always have to go above and beyond.” Marinette rolled her eyes. “Was the lift necessary?”
“We did it, didn’t we?” Alya smiled in triumph.
“You mean before you lost balance and went tumbling to the ground?” Adrien smirked.
“Don’t be jealous,” Nino wrapped an arm around Alya. “You still want to head to the Italian Gardens?”
Alya pulled out her phone and checked the time. “We still have time. Big Ben still isn’t cleared.”
“These Londoners need to not be so worried.” Marinette said, “Ladybug set everything right.”
“Like we said before. They just aren’t used to it like we are.” Adrien answered.
“Back in Paris if an akuma hits and it’s on the other side of town I don’t even worry about it anymore unless it starts spreading.” Nino said, “I was at a cafe getting lunch and everyone continued on like normal then ten minutes later we watched the miraculous ladybug cure zipping around the rooftops a couple streets over.”
“Nino, I feel like maybe you should be a little more concerned when an akuma hits.” Adrien didn’t like the idea of his best friend sitting idle and unbothered while an actual villain was terrorizing the streets.
“I think Hawkmoth should stop akumatizing that pigeon guy but he does it anyway.”
“Mood.” Marinette sighed.
They walked to the Italian Gardens and spent some time looking around at the fountains. “Hey Adrien,” Marinette tapped his shoulder, “Do you..um...do you wanna take a totograph with me? I mean--photograph-- with me? In front of the fountain?”
“Okay,” he stepped closer towards her as she held out her phone to take a selfie. “Agh, my arms are too short to get the both of us.”
“Let me try,” Adrien took the phone and held it out, “I’m not doing so well either.”
“Hey guys,” Ivan and Mylene walked up to them, “Do you want us to take a picture of you?”
“Yes please,” Adrien handed Mylene the phone, “Thanks a bunch. I couldn’t get a good shot for some reason.”
“No problem.” she took a couple pictures of them before handing the phone back. “Hope they’re okay.”
“These are perfect, thanks, Mylene.” Marinette offered to take Ivan and Mylene’s photo too while they were at it.
Their phones beeped as a group message came through. Big Ben was open again!
The class reconvened to go see Big Ben. A lot of the usual tourists were still freaking out and refused to go inside despite the all clear so the class had no problem getting inside for their tour.
After the tour and a stop in the souvenier shop they departed for dinner before taking the train back home. Adrien wasn’t looking forward to the backlash his act of teenage rebellion was sure to bring but he could hardly care at the moment. He had an actual day out with his friends. He had fun and got to see some of the sights. The last time he was in London he had spent his entire free time looking for that medication Marinette asked him for. Still not sure why she needed him to find it but she seemed really distressed about it so he didn’t mind looking for her.
“I’m about ready to pass out,” Alya yawned as they loaded up back onto the train, “Adrien, I’m stealing Nino to use as a pillow. Hope that’s cool with you.”
“No problem. As long as Marinette doesn’t mind.”
“Not at all.” Marinette said as they took their seats again.
They started their journey back home and one by one the other students started to clock out for a nap after an exhausting day walking around London. Marinette was trying to stifle her yawns but they didn’t miss Adrien who was yawning along too.
“Do you need to sleep?” Adrien whispered so not to disturb the others.
“Yeah but I can wait,” she yawned again, “I’d feel bad if I slumped over and fell asleep on you.”
“I don’t mind.” he opened his bag and pulled out a blanket he had neatly folded inside. “That’s why I brought this.” He draped it over their legs. “Go on and sleep.”
“Thanks,” she smiled before resting her head on his shoulder like before.
“Goodnight, Adrien,” her voice was sleepy and only half awake before she slipped into her slumber.
“Sweet dreams, Marinette,” Adrien said as he rested his own head against hers and fell asleep.
What a great field trip.
