From our Founder & CEO Nicky Hines: My testimony for Juneteenth, is like so many that look like me. I'm a product of two people, both born in the deep south, both born in the early 1930s. These two people didn't know that their separate journeys to NY would result in a granddaughter like me. Because their parents nor their grandparents couldn't look to far into the future. My love for food and restaurants stemmed from my grandfather John T. Coleman who was a baker by trade and lived what most people would call the "American Dream". Him and my grandmother was able to buy a 4 bedroom 2 bathroom home on Long Island, NY, see all his kids graduate high school, sent 2 sons to war, sent 2 daughters to college. Unfortunately my grandfather didn't get a chance see his grandchildren to do the same, but he did set the foundation for our success. I say all of this because without his and my grandmother's family granted freedom, I wouldn't of been able to graduate high school, attend and graduate the University of Southern California, attend and graduate from Art Institute Of NY with a culinary degree, work in asset management, work for one of the largest advertising companies in the world, work for some of the largest companies in the culinary scene.
