i need a new phone, they're making me get a new sim card and this one's like ... so full

i don't have anywhere to store things to back it up but still have them accessible bc i don't have a desktop and like - my sd card is so full i can't save stuff from the phone to it

but new phones don't have sd card slots anymore????????????????

along with not having headphone jacks

so like i literally cannot buy a new phone and transfer all the crap on this one bc none of them have enough memory????????????

even the really fancy pricey ones are utterly shit in this regard??????????

like i want a phone i can do photo edits on AND download mvs AND store multiple instances of 51 fifty-minute long episodes of a single chinese tv show to watch whenever PLUS a bunch of movies and screen recordings?

128GB is NOT ENOUGH for that especially since at least 12GB will end up being OS right?

like i literally was just looking to buy a new phone of the exact same kind i have right now bc it's perfect - it's only flaw is that it's old and full and won't be getting new updates - but i can't bc they're literally only available refurbished and then STILL thin on the ground

most likely bc they're the last phone generation with sd cards and headphone jacks!!! i don't blame people for not giving them up!

The missing Rock Lee moment

So I love Rock Lee

And I still can't get over his lesser role in Shippudden

(I understand that Kishimoto outlined a good chunk of Shippuden with the possibility Lee was dead because of part 1 stuff)

(And Naruto SD was made because of his massive popularity but it's also not canon so...)

But once you get past team 7

Shikamaru Hinata and Lee should have been the next three to get more focus imo

Shikamaru obviously got it

Hinata even though she didn't get the win like Shikamaru had a big moment in the pain arc and if not she has the moments in the war and the whole the last movie

Lee didn't have one major moment in manga canon Shippuden (as they give stuff to him in fillers and the movies he's in)

As him throwing the kunai in the war is not big enough for me

And it would be a lot to rewrite Shippuden to give Lee his arc but also a keep the plot and story the same for the most part it's hard to do that

And the one idea I had kinda changes things but I think could work

Lee should of beat Kisame instead of Gai/Guy

So for Gai’s and Kisame’s last fight we got to see the peak of Gai before the eighth gate

But especially with hindsight, we didn't need to see Gai at his “peak” then as we get to see it later on against Madara

So my proposal is that whether Lee tags along or is going instead of Gai to the Island with Naruto and co when it's time to fight Kisame Lee is the one that goes seventh gate and gets the win

As even though the Gai vs Kisame thing was built up since part 1

This way it can be more compared to the Kakashi vs Itachi

Had the part 1 fight post Konoha Crush, then the clone part in the Kazekage rescue mission then nothing. As Sasuke “defeats” Itachi, the “student” did it instead which I think can be mirrored with Lee

As it wasn't intended to be with Sasuke and Kakashi but it's a good passing of the torch moment that can be used with Lee and Gai

As I can see Kisame being disappointed to fight the essentially mini Gai that he trapped with the water prison but then with Lee being serious and his no ninjutsu being a problem for Kisame being turned into a more serious battle

Plus with dialogue can have Lee give the bond and history he has with Gai and how Lee will taken his masters place and etc

And Lee can get Hirudora or if not can make something up like that Leaf Dragon God from the filler episode

As I think since Gai gets his big moment against Madara, we can sacrifice his Kisame win to give Lee his big moment

Plus it's a different kind of revenge moment, Sasuke Naruto and Shikamaru got it because their person died

Lee’s didn't die but their bond makes Lee want to honor and uphold his sensei amongst other things like his own pride in getting stronger

But yeah that's my suggestion as power wise Lee going seventh gate doesn't change anything as its kinda implied he can we just didn't see it plus the line about Gai saying to Lee to watch closely can mean more as we know more firmly that Lee is one gate away and not potentially two

And story-wise Gai’s moments on the island are gone but that's now Lee for the most part and can maybe build on the more brotherly rivalry friendship bond Lee and Naruto had

And in the war it still will make sense Lee would be behind Gai and everything plus Gai with Kakashi doesn't change much either

So yeah the only really negative is that we don't get the real conclusion to the Gai vs Kisame fights and Hirudora potentially

And with the tag-along example if they fight him together they can do that team-up beatdown they did in the filler that even got loosely adapted as an ultimate in storm 4

Update on my ipod adventure, i got my 5th gen ipod and the cable to make it work even found a program to sync ipods on linux called gtkpod, jank as hell but it works.

the only problem is the battery life and while the hard drive works id love to fit like a 64gb sd card, in there. Ive tried twice to buy the batteries and adapters from china on ebay and keep getting a message about covid restrictions and my money refunded.

So im thinking of just biting the bullet and buying a proper iflash adapter and a 3000 maH battery from australia and cross my fingers.

I also would like to find a nice bluetooth adapter for it thats low profile i know theres some cool ones made for the switch that might work.

I genuinely love my lil ipod, i just like the tactile nature of it. plus its something that was way out of my price range as a kid being from a lower class household in the 2008 recession.

Might even get a lovely new case for it, make it look nice.

Today really was just a series of unfortunate events.

I’ve been working on a film project conceived last year in a 2 month long creative “club” of sorts. Where you sign up to creatively explore a theme with others in that time. I produced a trailer that my group was really excited about and set a release date for 1-11-23.

Well, up until that point, I got really in my head about self doubt, fear of external opinion, and like “yeah they loved the trailer, what if I don’t deliver?”. Plus navigating filming around my landlady’s upstairs noise. Plus not being super sure of my concept and how I wanted to portray it.

1-11-23 approached quickly, I lost time to being sick with a cold and I made the decision to delay my project to 2-22-23. I needed time to think. To plan. And figure out what the heck I was gonna do.

It took awhile to land on something I was happy to film. It took awhile to be brave and actually pick up the camera. I was still afraid of external opinion, but I had filmed something. That was last week.

Yesterday I had the day off and planned to use the whole day to edit. My landlady usually doesn’t come back home until the evening, so I figured I’d have the quiet I need. Well I woke up late, even more so in my head about the scale of the project, and not sure how to get started. AND she came back in the middle of the afternoon.

I thought I’ve got the next day off, I’ll go to my local library to ensure silence and post the complete video in the evening.

That did not happen. Here’s what did:

1. Discovered that my local library is closed for renovation until spring of 2024.

2. Went to another library and remembered that my computer requires an SD card adapter…which I didn’t bring.

3. Went home to pick up the SD card adapter and called / researched a bunch of libraries near me to see if they had designated quiet areas. They did not.

4. Figured I’d go to Barnes & Noble cause I sorta knew what to expect from the noise level and it was early afternoon. Minor inconvenience - tried to order a London fog (my favorite drink) as a motivation boost. Clerk told me they don’t have the capability to make steamed drinks at the moment. Cool.

5. All footage took an hour to download, a little longer than I expected. In that time, a couple at a table behind me was having a very animated conversation. And a guy decided to sit pretty much right next to me at the bar style tables. I packed up and left shortly after.

6. Anxious to go home if my landlady would be there to make noise and kill my focus, I spent about an hour procrastinating in Michael’s.

7. Finally went home and she wasn’t there, but I was still shocked that the one place I could rely on for quiet would be closed…for a year.

8. Vented to a friend about it all which felt good. Made dinner and was about to get started on the project.

9. Landlady comes back and has been talking with a guest of hers in the living room above me for an hour or so.

…sigh.

tbh my biggest struggle with linux was completely my fault bc i was having a contamination ocd moment with it and didnt want to let my windows hard drive touch my newborn untainted empty new drive and the only USB stick in the house is a 2gb one so i had to use the sd card that came with my printer in an sd -> usb adapter as my boot drive because it was the only thing big enough. but like the thing is that at no point did i have to do that. it wouldve been so easy not to. im just fucked in the head and made it take like 2 hours extra plus the like 6 hours since then that ive tried and failed to unfuck the sd card because it has a complex now & even after wiping it like 3 times it still has partitions somehow

At this rate, it is really not unlikely that I’m going to be rewriting Genesis from scratch.

[Spoilers for everything that has been published about Genesis from here on]

I think an issue I have is that for the first fic, I stuck too close to the comics while also trying to give my own spin on events. That led to multiple storylines intersecting each other, perhaps to the detriment of the story. For example, there were basically two villains - the Second Devourer Gold saw in her visions and the Council doing their own thing For ScienceTM - and combining those two storylines together proved difficult for me to do, not helped by my other ideas of there being an energy crisis in Onyx City and the Great Disaster and Silver’s ‘amnesia’. I also don’t know what Silver’s motivation can be now that he is in the past with Gold, plus I feel like Gold’s behaviour and actions do not properly reflect the fact she has been living under the Council’s/CAI’s rule for the past 10 years. So far I really like Genesis’ world I have come up with, but it quite feels like there is simply too much going on for me to keep track of.

I discussed with a friend some options yesterday and they gave me really good ideas on what to do, and I’ve been brainstorming with it all this morning. However, all that does mean the new fic will move away from being a comic adaptation towards being its own thing with only some key concepts from the comic arc (Gold, Onyx City, and the Council). One thing I’ve been considering is to scrap the whole SD in full, however that comes with a load of baggages I need to find other ways to resolve: Gold reaches out to Silver because she figures he can help her with the SD that will be unleashed through the Genesis portals, Gold came to Onyx City because the SD destroyed her world, and lastly Gold and Silver flee to the past in Genesis specifically because the SD destroys Onyx City too. I’m not entirely sure what my options are here, and how comfortable I am with straying from the provided canon. My friend did provide an interesting opportunity so that the Genesis portals can stay, but I need to look into relevant physics and science to see how I can best make it work. Furthermore, I want to expand more on the Council (because I developed them into quite beloved OCs of mine, haha), but I do not know if people will be interested in reading that. At that rate, the story will become one with two familiar characters and a world semi-created in an official medium, but with only OCs otherwise. I do not know if that is enough to really carry the story and have it garner others’ interest.

On the other hand, perhaps throwing the idea that this story has to stick close to Sonic Universe is one I just need to leave behind, as it might allow me more mental freedom to just write what I want to write🤔

uhhh i just bought a second gamecube lol

like. my gamecube is a dol-101 which means it doesn't have a digital out port (which means converting it to hdmi is always going to look like shit) and i've wanted to get it modded to add the port but that seems to be impossible at least for the time being (the kits have been sold out for so long and now the one site selling them seems to have taken down the listing. plus on top of that i'd have to have someone do it for me and idk where to go for that either) (from what i can tell getting a modchip added also seems trickier than on a dol-001?)

most of the advice ive seen for this situation is "just get rid of it and get a dol-001" which is uh. not the point. this is my childhood gamecube i want to keep using it. it's also a perfectly good console so it's annoying to see people so eager to just throw them aside

but i looked... and for just $100 i found a dol-001 that was already modded with picoboot (ipl replacement that makes the console boot into whatever you want) and they refurbished it (cleaned all the parts, recapped the motherboard which according to them will extend its life by 25 years). disk drive doesnt work but with picoboot that's kind of unimportant. seller seems to be pretty reliable too, they have almost exclusively good reviews going back to 2016

feels a little redundant to get a second gamecube, especially since i can technically already get a digital signal out of natively run gamecube games on my wii u and wii... it does add that to the game boy player though (also: with picoboot you can set a button to hold to automatically boot into the game boy interface, which btw is the homebrew replacement for the game boy player software that does a better job displaying the games apparently). also been thinking about getting a gba flashcart anyway (ez flash omega definitive edition) to add more to that

also my experience using nintendont on my wii u has been kind of awkward. you have to go all the way into wii mode and the homebrew channel and nintendont and then pick the game (sure, injects are a thing, but i've tried a few and they all black screen, and i've tried everything the devs of the inject program, uwuvci, say to do to make them work--and they also say for some people it just doesn't for some reason and nobody knows why). sometimes i get in there and it gets some kind of error and i have to start all the way over. meanwhile modded gamecube boots into swiss and you pick a game from there and that's it

the drawback is that since you're loading from an sd card (either in a memory card adapter or in a serial port 2 adapter, they're functionally the same) there's compatibility issues since it can't always read from there fast enough to run the game full speed. however there's also something called the M.2 loader coming that'll be able to load the data faster (from the ssd you attach to it). you plug it into serial port 1 (where the broadband adapter would go). but anyway if there are any games that don't run right booted from the sd i could probably just do them on the wii u or wii instead

anyway. my hope is that someday i'll be able to get my original gamecube modded (and then either sell this new one or give it away i suppose?), but it's good to have a backup

and it's not like gamecubes are going to get cheaper, probably, so getting that now is good i guess? like. that's a really good deal .a gamecube that's pre-modded and refurbished and apparently comes with an sd card? (the seller casually mentioned they could include some games if asked. the only way to run games on this one is through an sd card, so those would have to be iso files. on an sd card. if theyre giving me the card already then copying files doesnt cost them anything. so maybe there's a card in there). anyway yeah all that for $100. pretty good i think

well. maybe someday as they become more scarce people won't be so quick to abandon dol-101s and there'll be more resources for modding them

OBDSTAR X300 DP Plus VS Autel IM508S

What’s the difference between OBDSTAR X300 DP Plus and Autel MaxiIM IM508S? Which one is better to use? In this post, we will compare them in these aspects incl. IMMO, MOTO IMMO, diagnostics, service, odometer, airbag reset, ECU flasher and more.

1.IMMO Comparison

The structure menu is a little bit different. Both have the search option and the categorization between region of the world (Europe, America, Asia and China).

X300 DP Plus has PINCODE and Remote options while Autel IM508S doesn’t have.

IM508S has History option to check the previous operation, but X300 DP Plus doesn’t have.

America car:

X300 DP Plus put Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep in the same catalogue, Ford, Lincoln and Mercury in the same catalogue, while Autel shows them alone. There are no Chevrolet and Hummer in OBDSTAR menu, they are under GM brand, and Autel tablet shows GM on the menu.

European car:

i.e. SMART

Both support the same car models incl. BR450, 451, 452, 453, and 454.

They can read key number and add keys.

i.e. Volvo

X300 DP Plus supports FOBIK and proximity keys. IM508S support semi-smart key and smart key.

Both support V40 2012-2018.

2.MOTO IMMO Comparison

OBDSTAR has MOTO IMMO function while Autel doesn’t have.

3.Diagnostic Comparison

The name is different.

OBDSTAR name it as Petrol Diag and Autel is diagnostics.

i.e. BMW

Both support the same BMW series incl. 1/2/3/4/5/6/7/8/I/X/Z series.

They support the most 5 series models, but X300 DP Plus doesn’t support G30/31/38 & F90, and IM508S doesn’t support E28 and E34.

The 5 series drive options are also different.

4.Service Comparison

Autel MaxiIM IM508II supports more special functions than X300 DP Plus key programmer.

5.Universal Key Comparison

IM508S has a universal key function that can perform universal key generation, key info detection, button adjustment, and special function, and OBDSTAR supports this function in Programmer.

6.Programmer Comparison

OBDSTAR has this function in EEPROM/PIC option.

The operation path are different. OBDSTAR only has EEPROM option to choose while Autel has more options.

Autel also has write key via dump in programmer function. OBDSTAR has a RFID option on the menu, you can read only unlock the keys with the connection diagram.

7.Odometer Comparison

OBDSTAR supports odometer correction while IM508S cannot.

8.Airbag Reset Comparison

So, which one is better?

Both are good devices. It’s hard to say which one is better. It depends on your budget and actual needs. If you have enough budget, recommend buying both.

Autel IM508S has an internal storage of 64 GB. Autel app uses 31GB, system 9GB, on my device 66% is used (41, 94 GB with all apps). On micro SD Slot is free.

I use more time OBDSTAR than Autel, but i also use diagnostic functions from Autel, key programming from Autel it’s more guided for beginners. Autel can also do Benz over OBDSTAR, but I use a dedicated tool for Benz. Autel can also do some MQB NEC with extra Adapters and programmer.
