arfid goals I'm going to consider working on in 2023:
incorporating fruit into my diet on a regular basis. daily might be a bit of a stretch, but i want to work out a plan with my dietitian so that i can figure out how to actually make fruit fit into my meal plan every week.
getting my energy needs met with any kinds of food that i need or want or crave and not putting limits on myself for certain types of food or making certain types of foods off limit. at the same time, i think i want to work towards making sure that my nutrient needs are getting met as well. i don't want to cut anything out of my diet, but i want to introduce some more nutrient-rich foods into my diet whether that's through actual food or meal supplements.
committing to doing some exposures semi regularly and actually trying to find some new foods or slightly new foods that i can bring into my diet.
learning how to cook some of my safe foods! i think that learning how to cook chicken would be SUPER helpful.
these all feel like more manageable things and maybe the easiest way to start working at arfid recovery!

i love finally getting to eat the vegetables i couldn’t stomach as a kid <3 sure i have to carefully pick each one so they’re not too stringy or beat up and hide them in a fuckton of mashed potatoes, but that’s a small price to pay to experience the taste of green beans i’ve longed for for years and years now

Hi! So it’s been a long time since I posted anything here and mainly because I spent the past couple months trying to deal with arfid. I actually made some great progress and started trying new foods again and ate pretty much the same thing my family made for dinner every night!
In the not so great of news: right when I felt like I was making great progress now I have some medical thing going on that is making it difficult to physically eat, so hopefully that gets taken care of soon because I don’t want to be back at square one once I can eat real foods again (apparently all my health stuff just HAS to revolve around food lol)
Hope everyone is doing well!

To everyone out there who feels shame towards their eating habits, whether it’s because you have an eating disorder, you’re a picky eater, you have dietary restrictions, or you simply dont have the mental/physical energy to cook for any number of reasons:
You are doing the best you can . There is no shame in nourishing your body, and anything is better than nothing. I repeat, you are doing the best you can given your situation, and Im proud of you for taking care of yourself however you can despite feeling shameful or guilty because of it.

Imagine being able to take a bite of unfamiliar food without the anxiety that leads to it being way more difficult to actually eat even if you end up liking it

finally got switched to an arfid treatment plan as well and I am so happy :) my original treatment plan did not accommodate my arfid bc it was just focused on the anorexia but that has gotten fixed! And now at every meal I am actually getting served foods that I can eat which is great.

The worst thing about learning a new language is inevitably the topic of food comes up and you have to pretend to enjoy food more / have a wider variety of meals than you actually do

Wow, who would’ve predicted I’d get tired of eating the same twenty-five foods on loop? /s
