Parthas had a vibrancy about it that Kara had seen nowhere else. She’d detailed it in her article the first time she’d visited with Nia, but no words could really do the town justice. Community really meant something here, humans and aliens alike worked together to keep their town thriving. And it was thriving.
Nia had once told Kara that her mother had been the heart of the town. She’d planted the flowers that still bloomed each spring on every street, bursting out from pots beneath the windows of local cafes. She’d been commissioned to paint original works for a lot of the community venues and had even designed a mural that was now proudly displayed across the first building that greeted outsiders into the town’s borders.
Isabel really was the heart – a heart that continued to beat even now that she was gone. Her vitality was ingrained into the lives of every person who called Parthas home, but none more than the family she’d built that home for.
Kara had been visiting Parthas more than anywhere else over the last few months. Not to fulfil her duties as Supergirl, but rather the infinitely more important duties of Kara Zor-El, Maid of Honour Extraordinaire. She’d been busy booking venues, securing hotel rooms, ordering flowers plus catering - giving just about any regular wedding planner a run for their money - and in all that time, she hadn’t yet needed to return to Nia’s own childhood home.
That was, until now.
“Thanks for doing this with me, Kara,” Nia said as they made their way up the cobbled pathway towards the front porch.
It was her first coherent sentence since they’d reached the town border. Nia had spent most of the drive passed out against the passenger side window, a surly furrow to her brow.  Kara was willing to bet she hadn’t had a wink of sleep last night. After all, today’s trip wasn’t exactly something Nia had been looking forward to.
So, she tried to stay cheerful for them both. “Hey, of course.” She beamed, nudging Nia’s arm. “Alex didn’t bestow me with the title Best Maid of Honour Ever for nothing, you know.”
Nia did smile at that, although it couldn’t quite disguise the shadows beneath her eyes. She glanced up towards the house warily, her jaw set. “I’m just glad to have a buffer. Things have still been… weird between us, y’know?”
Kara winced sympathetically. “Is she here yet?”
Nia shrugged. “You tell me.”
Kara took that as her cue. She closed her eyes, opening her heightened senses as she listened out for any signs of life behind the varnished doorframe. She straightened almost immediately. “Well, there’s definitely a heartbeat in there. Your dad’s still out of town, right?”
“Suit and shoe shopping,” Nia said with a roll of her eyes. “I think he’s trying to get a wedding gift while he’s in the city, although he’s not really sure what a Coluan would want. I said waffle iron.”
Kara nodded seriously. “Brainy is getting pretty good with breakfast foods.”
“Right?”
Kara chuckled, catching herself when she noticed how intensely Nia was studying the door. She cleared her throat. “Ready?”
“For this? Never,” Nia muttered, grabbing for the doorhandle. “So here goes nothing.”
The house was just the same as Kara remembered, right down to the pleasant smell of vanilla mixed with acrylic paint that wafted down the hall. From the way Nia stiffened, Kara knew it wasn’t just her heightened senses picking it up.
Isabel’s paintings still decorated the walls, an intricately detailed doorway to her dreams in every direction they looked. Nia kept her eyes trained on the floor, sucking in a deep breath as she took her first step inside.
At the same time, a floorboard above them creaked and a shadow slunk over the banister, dipping swiftly towards them. They both looked up just as Maeve Nal appeared at the top of the stairs, a strained smile already etched in place.
At first, no one said a word.
Kara glanced awkwardly between the two sisters as they exchanged a long and wary look. Kara knew exactly what that kind of a look meant, she and Alex had shared it plenty of times themselves. Once, when they’d been teenagers, Kara had lost control of her heat vision during an argument with Eliza that had nearly burned the kitchen down. The following morning, she’d met Alex with the same expression Maeve was demonstrating now. An unspoken promise to try harder, to be on her best behaviour. No more outbursts.
But there had been- so many more - and so Kara understood the distrust in Nia’s eyes, that hesitancy to believe anything Maeve was selling her, no matter how much they both wanted it to be true.
When Nia remained silent, Maeve cleared her throat. “Nia, Kara, you’re early,” she said with forced cheer. “How was the journey?”
“It was fine,” Nia said quickly, an edge to her voice that made no room for small talk.
Maeve nodded anyway. “Good, that’s good. Do either of you want a drink, or--?”
“Can we just get started?” Nia interrupted, grabbing for the stair rail.
Maeve’s smile hardened into tight line. She pursed her lips, stepping away from the banister. “Of course. Come on up.”
Kara smiled politely as she passed Maeve on the landing. The last time they’d seen each other hadn’t exactly been under the best of circumstances. Not just that, but when they’d first met, Maeve had only known her as Kara Danvers, Nia’s work colleague and friend. Now, like the rest of the world, Maeve knew the truth.
That, right now, she was sharing a roof with Supergirl.
Not that Maeve seemed to care. Maybe she was used to superheroes with a family history as rich as Naltor’s, maybe she’d made the connection long ago - or maybe she was more focused on the well-being of her sister to pay it any thought. This was going to be a difficult experience for them both, Kara knew, and whether Nia admitted to it or not, there was a reason she’d wanted Maeve there with her today.
Nia took the lead down the hallway, walking a path she must have travelled a hundred times over the years, before stopping in front a doorway just across from her dad’s bedroom.
It was already open.
She waited for Kara to catch up from the corner of her eye, bracing herself, before heading through to the other side.
Kara followed her in, Maeve close behind. With all three of them in there, it should have felt crowded, but somehow the room was accommodating enough to fit everyone comfortably. Natural light flooded in from three large windows on the tallest part of the far wall, casting an inviting glow across the tan floorboards. A pink orchid was sat on the windowsill, petals fresh and flourishing in the sunlight.
An easel was set up in the centre of the room, an old canvas still hooked in place. The painting wasn’t finished, its meaning lost to time, but Kara couldn’t help but wonder.
Had this been Isabel’s final dream?
The room wasn’t just home to Isabel’s old artwork. Large antique wardrobes had been pushed against the wall, and boxes of old supplies gathered dust in a corner. The rest of the furniture had been hidden away beneath clean cotton sheets, as though they were already sharing the space with a handful of ghostly figures.
The studio kept parts of Isabel’s life in colour, at least, even if a few had been obscured along the way. Nia’s dad must have been looking after the room as best he could, and although nothing felt neglected, there were certain pieces of clutter that hadn’t been touched for a very long time.
“So,” Maeve said, leaning against the doorway. “Where do you want to start looking?”
Nia didn’t speak; her dark eyes worked over the room, flickering quickly from spot to spot. She didn’t marvel the place like when she’d first visited the Fortress - there was nothing new about it, not really. Kara knew that this was far from Nia’s first visit home since her mother’s passing. Last summer, she and Brainy had stayed in Parthas for three weeks after their engagement announcement, and Nia had since set aside a weekend every month to visit her dad. In all that time, though, Nia had admitted she’d never made it quite as far as her mother’s art studio. It was never locked, the door nearly always open, but she always found an excuse to avoid it.
Now, Kara watched as Nia marked out every item in the room like she was planning an itinerary. Finally, she bit her lip, heading over to the closest wardrobe before pulling it open.
The doors shuddered and groaned on old hinges, the smell of mothballs invading the air, but Nia didn’t seem to mind. Instead, she started to card her way through the heavy articles of clothing that hung inside. Some from decades prior, others more modern in shape and cut. On her right, Maeve opened the wardrobe stood nearest to the door, a host of pastel blues and ivory creams packed tightly on the other side.
Neither sister spoke a word to the other, and Kara suddenly felt that bit more of an invader on the whole ritual. Nia had wanted her there as both a peacekeeper and a friend, but her duty was a little blurred around the edges now that she was stood among Isabel’s old things. Kara decided to open one of the boxes on the floor that hadn’t been taped shut to occupy her time, rummaging inside half-heartedly as Nia continued her search.
She combed through her mom’s things carefully, pausing to squeeze or hold a piece at length when it sparked a fond memory. That was the only time she looked halfway comfortable with what she was doing. Kara felt her pain – aside from the data crystals stored in her pod, she hadn’t had anything left of her parents when she’d been sent away, believing them to be dead. If she had, she might have found the same bittersweet peace that was currently stirring Nia’s confliction.
Every so often, Maeve would offer up a possible clothing option from her closet, pulling a jacket or scarf from the hanger for Nia to see. Her wardrobe certainly boasted a colour scheme more fitting for their objective, but every time Nia shot her down. She was clearly looking for something specific, even if she didn’t know what it was she was searching for.
Maeve stopped trying soon after her fifth failed attempt, and the room fell once again into a tense silence only disturbed by the screech of metal hangers on metal rails.
Just as Kara was planning to suggest they break for lunch, Nia gasped sharply from behind her. Kara turned immediately, tense and alert, only to find Nia stood with something clutched tightly to her chest.
It was a long piece of satin fabric with a pearly texture. Simple and without shape, like a scarf or shawl.
But there was nothing simple about the way that Nia was looking at it.
“Nia—what is it?” Maeve asked.
Nia gritted her teeth, shaking her head. “This was stupid,” she muttered. Her arms fell slack, dropping the satin to the ground. “I-I need some air.”
She stormed out before either of them could convince her otherwise, disappearing around the corner. Kara caught Maeve’s eye guardedly.
“I should—” Maeve began.
“No,” Kara said. “Let me.”
Maeve didn’t try to fight her on the subject. Her own eyes were glistening, unable to articulate her thanks.
Kara didn’t wait for one. She gave it five seconds before following out after Nia, locating her heartbeat a little too quickly. It was thudding like crazy, and the fact she’d only made it as far as the stairs only increased the volume of her grief.
“Nia?” Kara asked tentatively. When Nia half turned her head and she saw the tears that had begun streaking down her face, Kara’s chest tightened. “Hey, Nia, Nia, what is it?”
Nia only shook her head, wiping angrily at her cheeks with the edge of her palm. “I shouldn’t have done this, Kara. It was a dumb idea.”
“Nia,” Kara admonished, taking her arm. “It was a good idea. A wonderful one. Look, maybe we should take a break. We could go to that coffee place on the corner, the one you were talking about earlier?”
“No.” Nia rolled her shoulder out of Kara’s grasp, folding her arms. “I mean—no. I don’t need a break. I just—” She blinked quickly, clenching her teeth. “Just—I thought this’d be easier, that being here with all her stuff would make me feel closer to her, make everything clearer.” She snorted. “But it doesn’t and nothing here feels right.”
“It’s okay.”
“But it’s not!” Nia spun to face Kara fully, the tears of her frustration still glittering on her jaw. “I came here to find something of my mom’s that I could wear for my wedding day, so why can’t I, Kara? It’s all here, so why—”
“Hey, hey, breathe,” Kara instructed, taking Nia’s shoulders before she could back away. This time, Nia didn’t fight her. She stared, chest heaving, cheeks blotched with red, until finally Kara’s words began to sink in. Her lashes fluttered shut and she drew in one long and steady breath, easing it out through her teeth. Kara smiled. “I think you answered your own question. It is all here, there’s a lot to go through, and I don’t just mean your mom’s stuff.” She glanced meaningfully down the hall, giving Nia’s shoulders a reassuring squeeze.
Nia huffed out a laugh. “Maybe you’re right,” she muttered thickly, before rolling her eyes. “I know you’re right. I just…”
“Take it slow,” Kara said. “There’s no rush, Nia. However long it takes, we will find something. I refuse to leave until we do.”
Nia’s lips crumpled into a smile at her pseudo-serious remark and Kara grinned, winding an arm around her back. “Okay?”
“Okay,” Nia agreed, sniffing into her hand.
After drying her face off with some tissues from the bathroom, Kara guided Nia back to Isabel’s study and right into the expectant gaze of her big sister.
“Everything alright?” Maeve asked immediately, abandoning her search.
Nia nodded quickly, avoiding Maeve’s eyes. “Things just got a little overwhelming.”
“I noticed,” Maeve said with a wry smile. “You were looking at this, right?”
The second Maeve lifted up the offending satin piece, Nia faltered. She set her jaw, biting her lip. “Yeah. It’s just… I guess for a second it reminded me of what mom was wearing in the dream realm. When I—”
“Right,” Maeve said, cutting her off with a pained wince. “Of course. Well… maybe, maybe that’s a sign you should wear it? It’d go well with your dress, right?”
Nia frowned. “You haven’t even seen my dress.”
Maeve gave her a pointed look. “And whose fault is that?”
Nia cringed, taking the shawl from her sister’s hands. She weighed it for a moment, letting the satin slide across her palms before she gripped it more firmly. Eventually, she sighed. “Maybe for the afterparty,” she relented.
Kara caught the unconvinced glimmer in Maeve’s eye when she nodded, turning back towards the wardrobes. “We’ll keep looking.”
On the bright side, the tension that had once weighed the room down didn’t seem quite as present anymore. Instead, Isabel’s studio was flooded with easy chatter. Now, when Nia or Maeve found something that they liked, they’d pause to laugh, nudge the other, and recount the memory that came with it.
“Remember when mom thought this hat looked good?”
“Oh my god, her gardening gloves! I thought the neighbour’s dog stole them years ago!”
“She let me live in this sweater whenever I was sick.”
The stories continued like that for hours and soon, Kara found herself laughing along with them, pointing out atrocious style choices in the mix and begging for the stories behind them. She found she was learning a great deal more about Isabel Nal than she ever had when she’d been alive, and with every memory revisited, a little more of that tension chipped away until it felt like nothing but a bad dream.
The laughter came to an abrupt stop when Nia reached the last item in her mother’s closet. She glanced to Maeve, finding that her sister was in the exact same position. Two wardrobes full of stuff to blow through, and they hadn’t found a single thing she could use.
“Don’t look so down in the dumps,” Maeve said, patting her sister’s arm. “Who said it had to be clothes, anyway? What about…” She stopped in the middle of the room, hands on hips as she scoured the studio. Kara watched as she moved purposefully to the far wall, grabbing one of the larger sheets and tugging it free, revealing the furniture beneath.
Maeve’s face lit up. “Nia--- what about in here.”
Kara stood stunned, staring in amazement at Maeve’s discovery. It was an antique dressing table, an old varnished oak piece with an oval mirror fixed into the headboard and one long drawer fitted underneath.
Nia walked over to it, running her hand across the brass handle before carefully tugging it open. Kara peered over Nia’s shoulder, her eyes widening when she realised what rested inside.
“Oh Rao, they’re beautiful.”
The inside of the drawer was inlaid with a royal blue velvet. Pieces of jewellery had been set delicately into each individual indent. Rings, bracelets, necklaces, all made from bands of pure gold that glittered intermittently with flecks of blue.
“Oh wow, mom’s jewellery collection,” Maeve said from Nia’s other side. She turned to Kara, adding for her benefit: “She brought a lot of them with her from Naltor. Each piece is fitted with a Naltorian gemstone. They’re supposed to help focus the mind and body, offer clarity to those that are lost, and not just for the daughters gifted with the Sight.” She nudged Nia’s arm. “Mom would let us wear them out for special occasions sometimes.”
Nia’s smile was distant, caught far in the past. “I remember,” she said, picking her way across the collection. “College graduation, she told me to choose anything I wanted.” Her hand stilled suddenly, clenching her fingers together. She swallowed hard.
“What is it?” Kara asked.
A scornful smile twitched at Nia’s lips. She glanced up, catching Maeve’s eye through the vanity mirror's reflection. “Except… I never did. I wanted to, really, and it felt right, like I was drawn to these stones somehow. My powers hadn’t even manifested yet, but I was so afraid to pick one, because a part of me knew what it meant, even then.”
Maeve turned away guiltily, unable to match her sister’s glare. The room felt colder, suddenly, and Kara fought the urge to shudder. This wasn’t her fight, nor her place to say anything.  Whatever Maeve had to say, she’d be speaking it alone.
“Do you feel drawn to anything now?” Maeve asked, surprising them both with her certainty, as though she wasn’t being held under scrutiny at all.
Nia’s brow furrowed, her expression guarded. “What?”
“Well, do you?”
“I—” Nia shook her head, turning unwillingly back to the jewellery out on display. “I- I don’t know…”
Impulsively, Maeve took her sister’s hand, linking their fingers together. “Don’t think about it,” she scolded, rolling her eyes. “Feel, Nia. Draw from the stones’ clarity. Let that guide you.”
When Nia glanced Kara’s way, she tried to offer her an encouraging smile, even if she was a little lost on what was going on here. She’d seen Naltorian jewellery before, Maeve’s first peace offering to Nia had been the necklace Isabel had given her, but this was different. When Nia closed her eyes and her and Maeve’s joined hands drew a line across the velvet, a band of blue energy erupted from Nia’s bracelet, winding at first around their fingers before misting out into fine tendrils like digits of their own, probing the drawer’s interior as though they were living things.
Kara supposed they were. What was Nia’s energy if not an extension of herself? And if the stones offered clarity, then they were certainly helping with the search now. Nia’s face was set with expert focus, her eyes rolling calmly beneath her lids as she followed the path her powers were chasing. Until, eventually…
“Wait,” Nia said, her eyes snapping open. “What’s that?”
Kara wasn’t sure what Nia was seeing, that was until she picked at one of the rings at the corner of the set, pulling loose a small piece of ribbon that had been tucked beneath it.
“A pull tab?” Maeve asked.
Nia’s frown deepened as she tugged at the ribbon. With it, a whole section of the velvet inset came loose, lifting upward.
Underneath was a small hidden compartment, barely a few inches across. And inside that compartment…
“Oh my god,” Maeve said. “Is that…?”
Cushioned between four edges of black velvet was a brilliantly silver bridal comb with cobalt blue gemstones set into the fixings in a wave-like pattern.
“The Naltorian symbol for union,” Maeve explained, her face pale. “I can’t believe it was here this whole time.”
“It’s beautiful,” Kara murmured, unable to tear her eyes away from it. “Oh, Nia, it’s perfect.”
“It’s mom’s,” Nia said tightly, closing her eyes. “She- she wore it for her wedding, but we thought it was lost. I only ever saw it in pictures, never…” She stopped herself short, reaching out for the comb before lifting it carefully into her hands. It looked ancient and brand new at the same time. Nia handled it delicately, as though afraid it might snap under the slightest provocation.
Maeve’s eyes shimmered, an eager look, a hungry look. “There’s this old Naltorian tradition,” she said slowly, her voice wavering slightly, “the daughter that inherits the Sight is meant to wear something of her matriarchal line on her day of union. Her wedding day. Every family has something different, something personal, but that item will stay in a family for generations. This was mom’s, but it was also our grandmother’s and our great-grandmother before her. It could go back centuries. It does go back centuries.” She lifted her hand, as though to summon it. “Mom once told me it would only find a Dreamer when the time was right.”
Kara watched Maeve warily, monitoring her fascination.
“I didn’t even know that,” Nia muttered, just as Maeve’s hand coasted over it. Nia flinched, clenching her hand across the comb in reflex. She narrowed her eyes at her sister, weighing her intentions, before slowly unfurling her fingers.
Maeve looked at Nia curiously. When Nia nodded, she breathed in, taking the bridal comb from her sister’s hand. She studied it carefully, running her index finger over each individual gemstone, testing it for durability.
“There’s a lot you don’t know,” Maeve said as she continued to examine the comb. “About Naltor, about… tradition. Mom always thought she’d have more time and I… I didn’t want to share it. I wanted it to be a secret, just between the two of us.”
Nia bared her teeth at that, a bitter scowl as she made to turn away. Before she could, Maeve caught her arm, stilling her little sister so that she could run a hand along her back, winding her fingers into the edges of her long hair. Kara watched as Maeve bunched Nia’s locks together in her free hand, fashioning it into a low hanging ponytail. “Hold still.”
“Maeve,” Nia murmured, but she did as she was told, watching her big sister through the mirror as she slid the bridal comb into place, holding in a way that the wave of blue perfectly melded into the depths of her dark hair.
Maeve marvelled at her handiwork. “Well, look at that. It’s perfect on you.”
“Something borrowed,” Kara said, nodding towards Nia’s reflection. “Something blue.”
Nia choked out a watery laugh, rubbing at her eyes. She probed at the comb, grinning as she felt for it in her hair.
“I’m sorry I never told you,” Maeve said, her reflection fixed solemnly on her sister. “It was selfish and spiteful and never my secret to keep. From now on, I’ll tell you everything, I promise.”
“It sounds like a lot,” Nia admitted honestly. She folded her arms, tipping back into her sister’s ready embrace. “Maybe you can tell me more about it back in National City? I mean, I still need to show you my dress.”
Maeve’s eyes lit up in surprise. She grinned, nodding her head. “I’d like that.”
“And wait until the whole outfit’s put together,” Kara added excitedly. “Nia, you are going to make one breathtaking bride.”
“Thank you,” Nia mouthed, taking Kara’s hand.
Kara squeezed back gently. “Any time.”
In the end, she supposed her services as social buffer or peacekeeper hadn’t been all that necessary. Her duty as a friend, however? That was a full-time role.
One that she was more than happy to fulfil for the rest of her life.

Nia: Oh my God, Lena, have you seen this (shows Lena her phone screen)
Lena: Oh, yeah, I try not to pay attention to twitter, people seem to really hate me there.
Nia: Hate you? Since when?
Lena: You literally just showed me a tweet where someone was calling me old for no reason.
Nia: Lena what do you think they mean by mother?
Lena: That I'm old enough to be their mom, which for most of them is just categorically untrue. I'm only 26 but god forbid a woman show any signs of aging!
Nia: Okay so that's not what it means... it's actually more like a term of endearment
Lena: It's a positive thing?
Nia: Yeah I could go into the whole history behind it but, its basically the latest way of calling someone a queer icon.
Lena (with a huge grin): I'm a queer icon?
Nia: Yeah, you didn't know that?
Lena: Hey Kara, I'm a queer icon apparently!!!

The moment Kara heard Sam was coming to town she knew there would be trouble.
Not that she had anything against the woman, quite the opposite, she absolutely adored Sam. But her visits tend to be a bit… chaotic.
It started not long after Ruby turned old enough to babysit Esme by herself. Sam would fly to National city for a weekend, leaving Ruby at the Danvers-Olsen house for a paid sleepover with Esme, and dragged the superfriends to the nearest Bar to get them all shitfaced drunk.
Kara would not easily forget waking up on the roof of a ferris wheel once, wearing a clown outfit and hugging a pogo stick. She did forget the events leading up to that point due to the large amount of alcohol she consumed the night before.
Kara briefly toyed with the idea to visit her parents on Argo for the duration of Sam's visit, or at the very least her first night. But she hasn't seen her in so long, and with Kara's very busy schedule she decided it's a good opportunity as any to take some time off and enjoy a night out with her friends. She just hoped there would be no stumbling drunkenly into any more theme parks.
That's why she was very surprised to learn that Sam's new adventurous plan was a simple game night at Kara’s apartment.
With alcohol, of course.
Kara kept her drinking at a minimum, just enough to get some nice buzz out of it, but a far cry from a complete black out. She wasn't the only one, most participants had seemingly decided to avoid a similar fate. Much to Sam's disappointment, Kara assumed, since she kept asking them to do shots.
After a few tame games of Settlers of Catan and a round of pictionary, Sam decided to spice things up a bit. They started with a game of 'would you rather' that slowly evolved into an open question format where everyone answered the same questions.
"Favourite… type of apple?" It was Nia's turn to ask, she spent almost 5 minutes struggling to find a question before settling on one.
"Really? That's the best you got?" Sam asked disappointed.
"I was panicking! That's the only thing I could think of!" Nia said defensively, her arms raising in the air in surrender. "Do you have anything better?"
"You know it," Sam said with a sly smile.
"Go ahead then."
"Alright," Sam clapped her hands, moving her gaze from one person to the next slowly before she continued. "Not including your actual partner, who would you marry out of the people in this room?"
"And I can't choose Nia?" Brainy asked, his hands deep in Nia's hair, drunkenly caressing her hair between his fingers. He may have gotten slightly drunker than most by trying to be nice and accepting most of Sam's shots.
"That would be against the rules." Sam smiled and twisted the wine glass in her hand.
"That's preposterous!" He exclaimed. Nia's head recoiled with a small groan of pain as Brainy accidentally hit her head. "There is no possibility in the multiverse I would pick anyone but her!" He announced, Nia remembered to move her head in time to avoid the second hit.
"You're no fun," Sam rolled her eyes. "Nia?" She smirked.
"Only Brainy, of course." She proclaimed loudly. Brainy rewarded her with a kiss on the forehead while she mouthed 'Kelly' under her breath.
Sam winked to her in return, while the rest tried to hide their chuckle.
"Kelly, you're next for no particular reason," Sam turned to her with a smile.
"Nia," Kelly replied with a matching smile. "For no particular reason."
"Alex?" Sam changed the topic before Brainy could interject.
"You know, I think we could've worked out," she weaved her hand towards Sam's direction.
"Yeah, we could've had some fun," Sam smirked back at her. "Alright, Kara, what about you?" She turned to face her.
"Lena," Kara answered without much thinking.
"Well, she is rich, it makes sense," Sam said under the rim of her glass.
"Rich wife is very convenient," Alex nodded in agreement.
"I'm not choosing her because of her money." The idea of reducing Lena to her finance, a walking wallet if you will, infuriated her. She was so much more than that. Kara put down her empty glass and stood up a bit faster than she intended.
"Then why her?" Sam challenged with a raised eyebrow.
Kara blinked in surprise, was it not obvious? "Because she is amazing! She's brilliant, smart, kind and… pretty," she added with a small blush creeping up her neck. "Also a great listener and problem solver, which is important in a relationship. And-"
"Yeah okay, we got it," Alex cut her off.
Kara gave her a mocking look in response, eyebrows squinted and tongue sticking out as she walked up to the kitchen to refill her glass.
"Lena, who is your pick?" Sam continued with the game.
"Kara, of course." The way she said it, as if there were no other options, filled Kara with warmth she was not expecting. She also wasn't sure why it made her smile so much, but it did. Then again they were best friends, it would be awkward if they were not to pick each other, right?
"Hey Kara, can you get me a beer?" Alex called out.
Kara studied her for a second. "No, you were being annoying."
"Wha- Kara!" Alex whined.
"Get one yourself," Kara shrugged, and poured herself a glass of white wine.
"Kara, can you give me a glass of red, please?" Lena asked. Her voice was so soft, it sent shivers down her spine.
"Of course," Kara quickly pulled another wine glass from the upper cupboard and placed it on her kitchen island.
"Hey, I asked you first," Alex shouted in retaliation, as she finished filling the second glass. "So you're getting Lena's drink and not mine?"
"Yes," Kara answered with a smile, walking back to the living room while maintaining eye contact with her sister, knowing it would annoy her more.
"Why?" Alex challenged, squinting her eyes while maintaining the eye contact.
"Wife privileges," Kara shrugged and took her place next to Lena, shifting a bit closer to her this time before she placed her glass on the table.
Kara almost forgot about the whole thing, until a week later when Lena brought it up. They were sitting in Lena's new office, talking about her new conjoined plan for both her foundation and the newly reformed L-Corp for a new source of green energy. A top secret plan, but Lena was talking about it with so much enthusiasm that Kara couldn't help herself, asking more and more questions, eager to learn more about it. Soon after, Kara found herself in the halls of the foundation's labs, Lena excitedly telling her about the project in detail.
"This sounds amazing, Lena! But I thought this was top secret, not that I'm complaining. I love seeing you this enthusiastic, but how come I get to hear about it?" Kara asked eventually.
Lena was quiet for a moment, before she answered "wife privileges," with a shrug, her cheeks slightly pink.
Kara brought it up next, when she forced Lena to leave the office at a reasonable time. Claiming 'wife privileges' as the reason Lena has to follow her home and relax for a bit.
Lena later used it as an excuse to steal a fry off of Kara’s plate, even though she insisted she only wanted a salad. When she met Kara raised brow she simply shrugged and claimed “wife privileges.”
It quickly became an inside joke for them, a reason for them to do a nice thing for each other or an excuse to get away with stuff; like buying lunch, stealing clothes or bringing surprise pastries. Things they were already doing anyway, they just had a better excuse to do it more often.
"Hey, it's been a month since that game night," Kara said, raising her very fancy wine glass to her lips. Lena invited her to a fancy Italian place that opened recently. It was right after Kara mentioned a craving for pasta the day before.
"Are you suggesting it's our anniversary?" Lena smirked, leaning back on her chair. She didn't need to be specific, she knew Lena knew what she was talking about.
"Happy anniversary." Kara raised her wine glass and smiled. She loved how quick Lena could understand her.
"Happy anniversary." Lena raised her own glass to toss it with hers, smiling her wide smile with the dimples that made Kara all warm inside. She was so captivated by the smile that it took Kara a few moments to realise the waiter was standing right beside them.
The meal was, of course, amazing, not only because of the quality Italian cuisine, but her fantastic company. Kara always felt most like herself when she was with Lena, she wasn't sure why but she made her feel at peace.
They finished their meal, still deep in conversation, sipping the remaining of their wine when the waiter appeared. Presenting them with a complementary tiramisu with a candle and two spoons, wishing them a happy anniversary.
Kara was about to correct him when Lena thanked him with a nod and gestured for Kara to dig in. She couldn't help the goofy smile that spread on her face. Out of all the inside jokes so far, she had the feeling that that was their best one yet.

Sister, Sister: After the End
When Eliza invites the entire family to Midvale over Easter weekend, none of them offer a single squeak of protest. It's been a long few weeks of working on their own endeavors, with only infrequent, hectic teamups between them.
It's nice, Lena decides after dinner the first night. The warmth, the easy familiarity that sinks in as though it never left. But even so, she's grateful for a spare moment to snag a blanket and go out to the dunes, where waves crash steadily against the quiet of darkness.
She spreads the blanket out and lays back, folding her hands over her ribcage. Her magic fills her these days, and she can feel the power of the ocean tugging at her, as though inviting her to join its current. She can also feel the shifting energy of the sand beneath the blanket, and the sway of the reeds that obscure her from the view of the house.
She's not too difficult to find though, as footsteps whisper through the sand towards her. Lena closes her eyes, biting the smidge of irritation that creeps up on her unexpectedly.
"I'm fine," she issues pre-emptively. Kara settles down on the blanket next to her.
"Didn't think you weren't."
Lena's eyes snap open as her head whips towards Nia's voice. Not Kara.
She huffs a laugh. "Sorry," she offers readily. "Thought you were someone else."
"Mhmm," Nia returns. "Considering she's the only one able to get hold of you these days."
Lena grimaces. "I know, I'm sorry--"
"Me too," Nia assures her of no hard feelings. "I could have done more to make it happen. It's just been..."
"Busy."
"Yeah. It's a little crazy to think about, you know? I'm doing more as Dreamer for the foundation than I am as a crime fighter or whatever. And you're back to being on top--"
Lena scoffs a laugh that turns into a giggle as she turns her head to look at Nia. It takes a moment to click.
"Oh--! Lena! You know that's not what I meant!"
The light smack to Lena's ribcage only earns a throatier laugh. Nia joins in with a giggle of her own, and they laugh for a long moment before calming.
"I know what you mean," Lena concedes after a heavy sigh, returning to the moment. "The foundation is everything I hoped it would be, but--"
"It's different." Nia turns her head, and Lena echoes the movement to meet her gaze.
She nods. "Yeah. As much as I don't miss the entire world being in peril..."
"You miss how it was." Nia's voice is quiet. "Even if it's better now."
"Yeah."
They stare up at the stars for a long quiet moment. The sky is clear tonight, and the Milky Way spreads out before them in a wide, untouchable ribbon. A wave of nostalgia overwhelms Lena, and not just for the good old days. Sudden tears burn at her eyes.
"I miss my mom," she whispers.
Nia doesn't turn, but pats across Lena's hip until Lena reaches down to clasp the questing hand.
"Me too," Nia returns softly. Her next words curl with a gentle smile. "They'd be so proud of us though."
Lena chokes out a bit of a chuckle, which mostly sounds like she's being strangled. "Yeah." She squeezes Nia's hand. "She would have really liked you."
"Oh my gosh, are you kidding?!" Nia's voice lifts. "My mom would have gushed over you! Especially now with the whole earthy, witchy vibe you have going on these days. She'd love that."
Lena grins. "Could you imagine if they'd had the chance to meet?"
"Oh god." Nia covers her eyes with her free hand. "Inseparable. No embarassing childhood memory would be safe..."
Lena laughs, truly, as though she actually had memories with her mother to be embarassed by. In this fictional world they've created, she would.
"Hey." Lena catches Nia's gaze, and offers a wide smile. "I'm proud of you too."
Nia's lips pinch tight, her eyes sparkling in the moonlight. All she can manage is a trembling nod, and a firm squeeze on Lena's fingers to reciprocate the sentiment.
Neither of them keeps track of how long they stay out there on the shallow dunes. They simply lay there, hands clasped, as the galaxy slowly swirls above them.

spy!au + meet messy + you never saw me
“So on a scale of 1-10, how much do we hate the fiancée?”
A wry laugh escapes before Kara can even try to quell it, and she briefly removes the unlit cigarette from her mouth to muse, “You know, I've heard a saying that goes ‘never judge a book by its cover.’ Fascinating stuff, I might have to send it to you.”
“Ugh. Journalists—so idealistic.” But Nia is grinning as she snags the barstool at Kara's right. “Where is the elusive Lena Luthor anyway? Do we finally get to meet her?”
Kara shrugs. “Beats me,” she says. “Last I heard, she was running late.”
“Late to her own engagement party? Finally, someone I can get along with,” Nia says. Before Kara can even get a word in, Nia's attention is immediately stolen by the bartender coming over. “Hey M’gann, can I get an amaretto sour?”
“Sure thing,” M’gann says absentmindedly, her gaze otherwise zeroing in firmly on Kara. “Danvers, you better not smoke in my bar.”
“I won't,” Kara swears, raising both hands in a show of innocence, and M'gann rolls her eyes.
“Journalists,” she echoes Nia's earlier sentiment, but with an entirely exasperated deeper meaning. “I'm putting Nia's drink on your tab.”
“Well in that case…” Nia twists around, already waving her hand as if to beckon someone over. “Make it two, Kara's buying a drink for the bride to be. Alex! Don't—I know you can see me, come here.”
For as much as Alex stressed the importance of everyone showing up tonight, she doesn't seem very…well, happy. And while Alex is not typically one to gush, Kara had expected at least a smidgen of joy on her sister's face, not the harried expression she's currently sporting.
“What?” Alex asks, eyes them both suspiciously while fidgeting as if she’d rather be anywhere else.
“Um, hello to you too,” Nia says. “Clearly, you need this. Where's your soon-to-be better half?”
Alex accepts the drink when Nia presses it in her hand but frowns, however slight, at the question. “She's—on her way,” she says, pausing to take a sip from her glass before her gaze falls on her sister. “Oh, gross, Kara. Since when do you smoke?”
“I don’t!” Kara pouts, feeling like a broken record. “Can’t I be edgy and have a cigarette to look cool?”
“That’s the most pretentious thing I’ve ever heard you say,” Nia says, delighted, while Alex just groans.
“Come on, Kara, not tonight. Just be normal for once in your life,” Alex sighs, already distractedly glancing back to the front door like she is willing her fiancée to just walk through any second.
“You guys don’t understand the intricacies of being a method actor,” Kara argues, waving her cigarette in the air to make her point. (And also, because it is kind of awkward to keep it in her mouth without doing anything with it, not that she’ll admit that). But it’s clear she only has half the audience she had a second ago; Alex is half a world away the second her phone starts to ring.
“I’ll be back,” Alex says, handing off her glass to Nia who is more than happy to finish it.
Kara dejectedly puts the cigarette back in her mouth. “I just realized something.”
“What?”
“I don’t actually know how to smoke. What if someone expects me to, like, smoke with them?”
Nia presses a fingertip to her chin and  ponders the question seriously. “Either you're screwed, or they will just think you're a dork. The reaction will depend on the person, really.”
Kara's shoulders slump. “So I won't be cool?”
“Journalists generally aren't cool,” Nia unhelpfully offers. “But I'm sure you could make it work for you. You'd be like…one of those grizzly story-seeking sleuth journalists.”
Kara groans, thumping her forehead on the bartop. “That seems more like a private investigator thing,” she says. “Darn it. I'm going to have to start from scratch.”
“I'm all in favor of quitting method acting for one night,” M'gann chimes in, still eyeing Kara's cigarette distastefully. “Now do you need a refill or are you going to fall asleep here?”
“Yeah, sure,” Kara says, lifting her head in order to sheepishly push her emptied club soda over. “Pour me a double.”
That joke never lands—M'gann just rolls her eyes and refills the glass, wiping her hands off before moving down to another patron. Nia scoots her stool closer to Kara once she's gone to reassuringly say,
“I like the pretentious cigarette. It makes you look like a hipster…they’re coming back into fashion, you know. Just like leg warmers.”
Kara wrinkles her nose. “I don’t think anyone really liked leg warmers.”
“That’s how I know you were unfashionable in high school,” Nia says. Then, apparently already bored with the topic at hand, she turns around in search of their former company. “Hey, where did Alex go? I haven’t even bought her a round of shots yet!”
“That’s a good question,” Kara says thoughtfully. “Maybe Lena showed up?” But when she swivels her chair to aid Nia’s search, she can't spot her sister either; considering Al’s Bar is a hole in the wall with not many patrons, that can only mean Alex has stepped out. “I'll go find her.”
All things considered, the night is pleasant—when Kara emerges without her jacket, the air isn't quite cool enough to make her go back in to retrieve it. She walks around the corner to the alley where everyone goes to smoke, but Alex isn’t there. Alex is also not in the 7-11 across the street, nor is she two doors down at the diner. (Kara orders a donut to go just to be 100% sure Alex won’t emerge from somewhere inside, of course, like a diligent sister).
Eventually, her pointless search leads her right back to Al’s. Nia has apparently had enough alcohol to drag Kelly to dance; Winn and James have begun a spirited game of pool; Querl has commandeered the jukebox and is studiously adding 80’s dance music to the queue. Alex, however, is still notably missing.
With a groan, Kara collapses at the bar again. “Can I get a water, M’gann?”
“You got it,” M’gann says, filling a fresh glass from the tap. She moves on immediately after to another customer, and Kara’s question about whether M’gann has seen Alex dies before it even forms. Kara sighs, takes a much-needed sip of her water, and resolves to just melt into her stool when all of a sudden she hears:
“Is this seat taken?”
It should be noted that, in the past, Kara has encountered situations far worse than this one. Moments where her life was in danger, even. She likes to think she has mastered the ability to remain unfazed in the face of the worst surprises at this point of her career.
But then again…she’s never actually met her sister’s fiancée before. And in a truly horrific turn of events, Kara ends up spit-taking all over her shoes.
“Oh crap, I am so sorry,” Kara says, making a mad grab for napkins off the bar and crouching down to pat at Lena’s heels. “Are you—okay, can I get, er, anything—” She doesn't even know how to apologize at this point, so tongue-tied she is just about to offer her own shoes off her feet.
Lena Luthor doesn't answer right away. She takes a delicate step down, and her hand covers Kara's in order to make her pause. When Kara musters the nerve to cautiously meet her eye, Lena gives her a small smile.
“It's fine.” Lena looks much more <i>vivid</i> than the photographs. Everything about her is sharp; the angles of her jaw, the eyeliner she wears, the intensity of her green eyes when they're trained on Kara. Even her voice edges on the sharper side, not quite cold but almost. “Kara, right? I recognize you from Alex's pictures.”
Kara barely remembers to nod. “Yes, I…recognize you too,” she says. “It's nice to meet you.”
“Likewise.” Lena draws her hand away immediately after, and Kara hastily rises up in order to put some space between them.
“Can I buy you a drink?” Kara asks quickly. “M'gann makes a great…sour.” She cannot for the life of her remember what it is that Nia ordered, and from the strange look on Lena’s face, she has 100% gotten the name wrong. “I don’t really drink.”
Somehow, that awkward confession makes Lena’s face twist, like she is trying not to smile. “Alex mentioned you’re sober,” she says. “I hope it’s alright, that she did.”
“No, yeah, it’s not a secret,” Kara says, but in her mind she’s thinking Alex and Lena talk about her? About what? Hopefully not embarrassing stuff. Shoot, knowing Alex, it’s 100% embarrassing stuff. “And I wouldn’t expect you to have any secrets with Alex either way, so.”
“Right.” Lena takes a careful seat besides Kara, her expression since gone entirely blank. She orders a scotch, Kara sticks to water, and they immediately maintain an awkward silence that M'gann raises a judgmental eyebrow at Kara for.
Kara clears her throat, desperate for any attempt of making nice she can muster. “So have you seen Alex?” she says.
“Today?” Lena has her glass raised to her lips, but she doesn't drink. “Not yet.”
“Oh. Well, I'm sure she's around here somewhere,” Kara says, and tries not to find it weird that Lena and Alex did not see each other at all today despite apparently living together.
This time Lena takes a long, thoughtful sip of her drink, and she turns her head to regard Kara silently. “Kara,” she says, as if testing the name all-too-carefully, practiced and halting like she wants to call Kara literally anything else. “Would it be a fair assessment to assume you don't like me?”
Kara’s grip on her glass falters in a single blink-or-miss-it second before she manages to control her surprise. “What?” she says weakly. “I know we don’t know each other, but, if Alex likes you of course I like you.” Flustered, she backtracks to say, “I mean Alex loves you. Obviously.”
Lena doesn’t put Kara out of her misery. At least, not right away. No, she just smooths out the imaginary wrinkles of her form-fitting dress that she has chosen to wear to this dive bar, drums her fingertips against the sticky wood of the bar counter, and gazes pensively beyond her company in a way that can only be described as lost. Then,
“I’m sorry. That wasn’t meant to be an accusation,” Lena says. “What I meant is, I'm sure you must despise the idea of me.” An attempt at a smile crosses Lena’s lips, but it’s a sad one. “Today was mostly about putting your mind at ease over any misconceptions you might have.”
“Well, I’ve only known about you for like a week, but I can honestly say I have zero thoughts about you,” Kara says quickly. Then frowns. “Wait. That was supposed to sound reassuring. Can I start over?”
The engagement ring on Lena’s finger shimmers even in the poor lighting, and she rests her cheek against her palm, gazing at Kara with a curious, half-amused kind of look in her eyes. “The floor’s yours.”
“I’m not the kind of person who assumes the worst about other people,” Kara says, reaching for her water again, if only to tip it towards Lena reassuringly before taking a quick sip. “And if you make Alex happy, then I can only assume you’re a good person. Also, you might be a saint to even put up with her.”
Lena’s mouth twists into a proper smile, however small. “The way you two talk about each other is so…” She shakes her head as if she can’t quite finish that thought. “You two are clearly very close.”
“Unfortunately, yeah, I'm stuck with her,” Kara quips, and that at least feels normal—talking about Alex is a safe topic. Even if she hasn’t bothered to come back to her own engagement party. “Do you have any siblings?”
“A brother.” Any semblance of a smile vanishes entirely at that, and Lena hastily finishes the remainder of her drink.
Kara gets the feeling she has said something horribly wrong. “And are you two also…close?” she finishes her train of thought awkwardly, even if she already knows the answer.
“No.” The stony way Lena clenches her jaw suggests that Kara isn't winning any brownie points, here, and she has to bite her tongue to stop from pushing on. “Excuse me, can I get another?” Lena beckons M’gann over when she has a second, and M’gann gives Kara another questioning look but doesn’t say anything to her directly.
“I’m sorry,” Kara feels the need to say. “I didn’t mean to make you uncomfortable.”
“Oddly enough, I believe you,” Lena muses. “You did mention your sister has hardly talked about me.”
“I'm sure she would've,” Kara tries to reassure her. “I just don't see her too much nowadays, with my work.”
“Mm. You’re a journalist, right?” Lena asks, and there is something in her gaze that makes Kara feel hot under the collar. “Or was it a kindergarten teacher? I know you and your sister have an affinity for switching careers.” Something about the calculated way she pauses to take a sip of her drink, gaze expectant over the rim, causes Kara's heart to plummet into her stomach.
Kara, in turn, promptly chokes on air. “What? You—you know? About—” She stops. “I’m not sure Alex was allowed to tell you that.”
“Not even if we're going to get married?” Slowly, Lena begins to smile. It's a real smile, one Kara hadn't realized Lena was capable of until now. “Your sister might be the most by-the-book person I've ever met. Unfortunately for her, I was able to connect the dots about you myself.”
“Ah.” Kara drums her fingertips against the bar counter, feels her cheeks warm slightly with embarrassment.
Lena places a hand on Kara's forearm—a warm, gentle heat Kara can feel through the thin sleeve of her T-shirt. “That was no fault of yours,” she says reassuringly. “She slipped up talking about your job. It was fairly easy to connect the dots.”
Somehow, that does nothing to dissolve the dread slowly building up in Kara’s chest. Alex never slips up. Kara is the resident Danvers sister fuck up (Alex’s words exactly), and all at once Alex’s disappearance tonight becomes decidedly unsettling.
“When did she tell you about my job?” Kara blurts out. “Do you remember?”
“Yesterday, I think,” Lena says, and she regards Kara questioningly. “She was telling me about everyone who was going to be here today and what your friends do for work. Why?”
“Was she working? Looking at her computer or her phone or anything?”
“Yes, that’s all she ever does.” But it’s odd, the way Lena says it, like she’s not bothered in the slightest.
It could be nothing. It probably is nothing. But Kara still scans the bar with a renewed vigor in search of that familiar scowl that she cannot find. “She was just here,” Kara mutters aloud. “She wouldn’t have left without telling someone.”
“Alex?” Lena watches Kara carefully, no doubt trying to decide what to say. “Has she not told you if she’s running late?”
“No, she was here already,” Kara says. “I don’t think she would have—” She shakes her head to herself, cursing inwardly. She can’t assume that Alex has been dragged away for a work reason. Maybe it has something to do with Alex getting cold feet. Either way, telling her sister’s fiancée that the woman she’s supposed to marry has abandoned her engagement party doesn’t seem like it would do Alex any favors. “I’m sure she’s just in the bathroom or something. Uh, I’m going to just…” She pulls out her cigarette in a poor cover and says, “Go outside, for a smoke break, if you don’t mind?”
“Not at all,” Lena says. Then, “Would it be alright if I joined you?”
If Nia knew that Kara’s stupid cigarette would have led to this moment, she would laugh her ass off. Repeatedly. Kara supposes it’s a small mercy that Nia is still dancing with Kelly, so she is spared of any and all jokes at her expense.
It’s not until they’re outside that Kara sheepishly confesses: “So full disclosure…I don’t actually smoke.”
Lena doesn't look particularly surprised at the fact. “It's an odd thing to lie about,” she says, and tilts her head, surveying Kara with a sharp look. “Oh,” she says afterward. “I’m sorry. Clearly, you lied to get away from me, and here I am following you around.”
Kara swallows. Hard. “It’s not that,” she says, even though it kind of is.
“It's okay.” Another touch, this time gently to Kara’s shoulder. Lena has a strange, half-wistful look on her face. “Take your break. I’ll go inside…I should introduce myself to Alex’s friends and keep it convincing.”
That is such a peculiar way to phrase an otherwise normal statement, and Kara feels her brow furrow subconsciously. “What?”
But Lena has turned away by the time Kara even forms the word, and Kara watches, bewildered, as Lena takes two steps forward before immediately whirling back around. There is no other way to describe it, but—Lena has gone sickly pale in the moonlight, as if she’s seen a ghost. Before Kara can ask what’s wrong, Lena has hurriedly bridged the gap between them and grasped Kara’s face with cold, shaking hands.
“Can you turn around?” Lena asks quietly.
Kara does, but she knows her cheeks have gone hot and red by now, so unaccustomed to both the proximity and the specific person before her. “Lena, what’s—”
“I have something very urgent to ask you, and please don’t overthink it,” Lena rushes to say.
“Okay.” Kara tries not to fidget; she has had a gun held to her head several times before and yet, this is the most overwhelmed she has felt in years.
“Can I kiss you?”
Kara blinks. “What?”
“Please,” Lena adds on, as if that makes the question any saner.
And maybe it’s the desperation in Lena’s voice, in her eyes, in the way she keeps on trembling, but Kara recognizes someone in danger. She doesn’t understand what on Earth is going on, but she slowly nods, and trusts that if Alex kicks her ass later it will be for a good cause.
(Kara is not, however, prepared for Lena to immediately kiss her like she’s starving, hands still tight against Kara’s cheeks, dragging Kara so close that Kara is essentially caging her against the wall).
It feels like forever, but not in a bad way. Kara hasn't kissed someone in so long that she feels clumsy, almost like she is outside of her own skin, hands falling against the gravel of the bar’s outside walls in order to stop herself from grabbing at the inviting curves of Lena’s waist.
When Lena gently pushes her away, Kara hastily steps back, digging her fingernails into the palms of her hands to keep from doing something dangerous (like reaching back in). Lena looks as if she's calmed down enough at least; she blushes when she meets Kara’s eyes, glancing down at the floor for a brief moment.
“Thank you,” Lena says. “God, if I was recognized out here of all places Alex would have lost it.”
“Recognized?” Kara echoes. She follows the way Lena jerks her head to the right, where the shadow of a man is disappearing into the alleyway. “I…don't follow.”
“That man used to work for my brother,” Lena sighs. “I don’t know if he would have remembered my face, but better safe than sorry.”
Kara opens her mouth, pauses, and then shuts it when she realizes she has no clue what to say. Her phone buzzes in an all-too-welcome distraction, but her blood runs cold when she sees it’s from Alex.
SENTINEL:
Can you tell everyone the party’s cancelled? Lena’s sick. Also let the cat back in before the night’s over.
“Shit,” Kara involuntarily curses when she sees that familiar code phrase. Suddenly everything makes sense: the secrecy, the mysterious brother, the fact that Lena cannot be recognized in the streets outside of a dive bar used as a front for the average spy (or average drunk that security allows in for the cover). “Lena, are you in witness protection?”
Lena squints at Kara like she is the one dropping a bombshell. “Yes? Did you not know that?”
“No! What the—why would Alex bring you here?!” Kara frantically texts her insane sister back.
SUPERGIRL:
Is there a curfew?
SENTINEL:
The sooner the better. I’m at Dad’s house right now or else I would do it myself.
That next coded message makes Kara exhale, finally, to at least know Alex is safe. Something big must have happened if she is dragging Kara into this without so much as a briefing, sure, but Kara also knows that Alex would not have trusted her with anything less.
“Lena,” Kara says, “can I ask you something urgent now?” She pauses when she immediately remembers the firm pressure of Lena’s lips, and quickly adds, “It doesn’t involve kissing.”
“Fair enough,” Lena says, enough amusement coloring her tone that Kara briefly flushes all over again.
“Can you trust me to get you home tonight?” Kara doesn’t wait for an answer before she goes on: “I know you don’t know me. But you know Alex. And I swear on my life, there is nothing I wouldn’t do for Alex, and by extension that means there’s nothing I wouldn’t do for you.”
Lena nods along with every word slowly. “You take your job very seriously.”
“I do,” Kara says firmly. (And, hopefully, comfortingly).
“Then I trust you, Kara Danvers,” Lena says. “If that’s even your real name.”
And for a brief moment, Kara’s not a spy fighting a clock on a mission she knows nothing about; she is, instead, a normal person who is capable of seeing the humor of her almost-sister-in-law who definitely knows more than she has clearance for.
“It is,” Kara says—even deigns to smile before she can quell it. “By choice.”
“That sounds like there’s a story somewhere.”
“I’ll tell you all about it sometime,” Kara promises. “Maybe even tonight, if in exchange you tell me your real name.”
“Unfortunately, Lena Luthor is my real name,” Lena says. “Alex said it was fine to tell her friends, so, this party was her idea. She even came up with the marriage idea so when my last name is changed, no one will care.”
The cogs finally start turning in Kara’s head far slower than she cares to admit. “Hold on. So you and Alex aren’t actually engaged?”
Again, Lena stares at Kara like she’s grown two heads in the last thirty seconds. “No. You seriously didn’t know? I thought you were just being weird, Alex says you get really into your method-acting stuff.”
“No.” Strangely, the first thing Kara feels is relief; she doesn’t have to actually tell her sister that she kissed her future wife. The second thing is, quite reasonably, alarm. “Okay I don’t know what the hell is going on with your case, but you mentioned someone who used to work for your brother, right? How bad is the threat?”
Lena hesitates. “It’s…kind of a long story.”
“So really bad,” Kara fills in the blanks. “Crap. We need to go.” She quickly shrugs off her jacket and presses it into Lena’s hands. “Put this on. There are no cameras in this area, but we’re going to hit some when we get to the parking lot.”
“Is everything okay?” Lena asks, though she hurriedly does as Kara says.
“I’m sure it is,” Kara tries to assure her. “But it’s just a precaution until we can reunite you with Alex and confirm.”
Lena doesn’t seem like she believes Kara entirely—or at least, the way her expression remains a fraction confused definitely indicates as much. But at the very least, she does not argue, though she does make a point to ask, “Where is Alex?”
“She just got tied up at work.” Kara leads the way to the parking lot, careful to hover at Lena’s side on the off chance any threat might  materialize. “I don’t know where your current safe house is or if it’s been compromised, so I’m going to take you somewhere else. Is that okay?”
“Not like I have any choice,” Lena says wearily. “So am I not allowed to know when everything’s gone to shit? Or will everyone just keep telling me it’s okay when it’s not?”
Kara swings open the passenger side of James’s car (he’ll forgive her for this later) and waits for Lena to sit down. Lena doesn’t. “It’s—complicated,” she says.
“How so?” Lena crosses her arms and still does not move. Kara is still holding onto the car door, inadvertently standing too close; she feels strangely helpless when Lena looks right at her with eyes dark and determined.
“Full disclosure,” Kara reluctantly admits, “I…have no clue what’s going on with your case. I’ve been in the dark and Alex can't exactly  share the details through a text, so, the truth is I have no idea if everything has gone to shit. I know that is the very last thing you want to hear since I’m supposed to be protecting you, but—”
“Actually,” Lena says, and her look has softened, “that makes me trust you.”
“Really?”
“Yes. I appreciate that you will tell me upfront you don't know,” Lena says. She sways slightly closer, enough that Kara stiffens, but it's only to duck into the car after all.
Kara shuts the door only after a very brief pause. This should not be as hard as it feels. For a week she has been associating the idea of Lena Luthor as her sister’s fiancée and it’s tough to wrap her head around the fact that the opposite is true.
(And it has absolutely nothing to do with how attractive Lena is. Or that kiss. For the record.)
The dashboard of James’s car reads 7:19 PM; his radio is playing a news station; the gas tank is half full. Kara makes note of everything and decides she will drive as far as she possibly can before it hits empty.
Lena is quiet, at first. And while there is nothing special about the bumper-to-bumper traffic or the hazy street lights or the clouded night sky, Lena keeps her gaze trained outwards, head resting against the tinted window.
But then, “My brother killed twenty people.”
Kara grips onto the wheel and tries not to outwardly react. She has, of course, always had a terrible poker face. “Oh.”
“It gets worse,” Lena says uneasily. “I designed the technology he used to kill them.”
There is no possible response Kara can imagine which might be appropriate. In the end she settles for: “That actually doesn’t seem like a long story after all.”
“I assumed Alex would have told you that, at least.” Lena begins to drum a pattern with her fingertips against the center console. “Do you think the worst of me now?”
“I guess that depends,” Kara says slowly, “on whether you designed that technology for the purpose of killing people.”
Lena gives a curt, kind of disbelieving half-laugh, half-scoff. “They were nanobots,” she says. “I was trying to use them to cure cancer. But my brother…well, he didn’t see half the potential I did.”
Kara casts a quick glance at Lena, finds her staring straight ahead with a stony expression on her face. “Lena,” she says gently, “that doesn’t sound like it was at all your fault.”
“Everyone tells me that.” More rhythmic drumming, each beat more hesitant than the last. “I don’t know when I’ll start to believe it.”
When she was a kid, Kara had been thrown into the foster system with little more than heartache and a wish to find the cousin she never would. She had never felt so helpless—so unsure—and something about Lena’s guilt right now brings her right back to that moment. Like she’s just a little kid, knees pulled up to her chest, waiting for a sign that would never come.
“It’ll be hard,” Kara says softly. It has begun to drizzle rain, and she mindlessly sets the wipers, watching them flick back and forth as they wait for the light to turn green. “But it will get easier. I promise.”
“Odd thing to promise,” Lena notes, but Kara can feel her gaze burning against the side of her head, and Lena sounds…lighter, somehow. “Can I change the station?”
“Sure.” James will hate it, but Kara doesn’t mind. Lena chooses a jazz station that frequently breaks with static, and it’s by far the most peaceful hour-long drive Kara has had in a while.
They pull up to the safe house when the clock reads 8:34 PM and the rain has petered out; the air feels damp and thick with residual humidity, but otherwise, the tranquility of the quiet gives Kara a good feeling. Lena has fallen asleep in the passenger’s side, and Kara softly nudges her awake.
“Here,” Kara says, handing her James’s emergency bag once they make their way up the house steps. “This should have a change of clothes. They’ll be too big, but better than your dress at least…if you’re hungry there will be granola bars in the pantry. We can’t risk ordering anything else right now, unfortunately.” She digs into her pocket for the batch of safe house keys she has on all times and locates the right one, pressing it surely into Lena’s hand. “Until we know for sure if I’ll be briefed on your case or not, just…assume you’re going to be moved tomorrow. Also, you never saw me. Like, officially.”
Lena wipes at her eyes with her palm, absentmindedly smearing her mascara. “You’re going to leave me here?” she says, hugging James’s bag to her chest.
“No, of course not. I’m going to be sitting in the car, out here,” Kara says. “I just mean like in general, you know, if I don’t end up getting briefed on your case it would be all kinds of not-allowed to be talking to you. So if anyone asks…”
“Ah,” Lena says, “right. I’ll just make up a cover story for my cover story.”
“Yeah, you know, we need to protect the bureaucracies and all that,” Kara says. “If I'm even using that word the right way.”
“And you're supposed to be a journalist?” Lena smiles ever-so-slightly. “Good thing you're decent at your day job.”
“Only decent?” Kara feels her own mouth twitch with the promise of her own smile.
“I'd give you five stars on Yelp,” Lena says confidently, and Kara laughs, unable to stop herself from full-on grinning.
“Well if you need anything,” Kara says, and gestures over her shoulder to the car. “You know where I'll be.”
“Thank you.” Lena places a hand over Kara’s wrist, and just squeezes there briefly, her hand slightly cold but her touch overwhelmingly gentle. “Um. Would it be—would it be allowed to ask if you can stay with me inside, instead? I don't really want to be…alone.”
“That would make plausible deniability much harder to fake,” Kara tries to protest, but Lena is biting her lip and looking at Kara underneath mascara-smudged lashes and really, there is no other option but to cave. “…but I guess I could break a rule or two. Or twenty-seven.”
Lena smiles fully this time with obvious relief. “And here I thought I'd have to work harder to corrupt you.”
Kara pushes her glasses up her nose and says, “I’m a little concerned you were planning to corrupt me, but I mean. It’s one night.” She follows Lena inside when she opens the door, surveys the untouched room with a quick, satisfied glance. “Just as long as you don’t get me into trouble.”
“I’ll try my best not to,” Lena says, making a beeline for the couch to inspect James’s emergency bag; she pulls out an oversized T-shirt with an exhausted sigh. “Can you unzip me?” Already she’s pulling her hair off her shoulders, exposing the graceful slope of her neck, and Kara almost forgets to lock the door behind her.
“Y-yeah,” she stammers out, once again fiddling with the glasses that she doesn’t need, and she knows it right then and there: Lena Luthor will undoubtedly get her in trouble. And judging by the way Lena gazes so shyly at Kara over her shoulder, she knows it.
(But, well. In the grand scheme of things, Kara figures a little trouble never hurt anyone).

Because of boredom, here's some Superfriends(+Supercorp, Brainia and Dansen if you squint) headcannons (Miraculous season 6 please just release I'm begging, Heathers The Musical please come back)
~~~~~
• Kara is actually scared shitless of the dark, but due to xray vision she doesn't mind it. So when she solar flares she tries to sleep with the lights on. Lena found out about it and made her a nightlight.
• Brainy, Nia and Esme definitely watch Miraculous.
• Lena refers to them all as greatest friends, however she refers to Nia as her favorite nuisance and Alex as her least favorite nuisance (she loves them tho)
• Nia and Esme made Kara and Lena binge watch Miraculous all the from season 1 with them once and now they're attached to the plot. (Kara and Lena had to pause and breathe soooo many times during that night they watched it for the first time because holy shit why is everything similar to them)
• Kara actually really loves listening to cover artists like Annapantsu, Lydia The Bard, Chloe Breez, Reinaeiry, Caleb Hayles, Will Stetson, etc. (Yes, Will Stetson mostly does English covers but have you heard that man's voice?)
• Kelly made Lena listen to the singer Malinda Kathleen Reese's songs because of the fact that she uses Irish style music and oh no, Lena's playlist is overflowing now.
• Lena's bi, but she's into women more (specifically Kara)
• Kelly is the mom friend
• Brainy and Nia went on a date to the cinema to watch the Miraculous awakening movie and they have been annoying ever since they watched it. "Guys, stop singing those damn songs (Stronger Together and Now I See specifically) you're making Kara and Lena cry" -Alex and Kelly
• Someone Kara accidentally introduced Esme to Heathers The Musical. And while Alex and Kelly love the musical Esme is too yOUNG FOR THAT-
• J'onn: These are my dysfunctionial Earth- Brainy: Some of aren't from Earth- J'onn: Earth children.
• Lena never wanted to admit that she's in love with Kara out loud in fear that the universe might take it all away from her.
• Kara's always been in love with Lena, she just never realized until Alex and Kelly's wedding.
• Esme: Auntie Kara and Auntie Lena are just like Marinette and Adrien! :) Kelly: Aaaaand there's the cry of outrage. Alex: The question is, who's it from? Kara or Lena?
• Once a Valentine's Day, Brainy made Nia a little funko pop of herself as Nia, not Dreamer. And whenever she taps on it's head it makes a "boop" noise. Nia loves it so much.
• Kelly once baked Alex a blueberry cheesecake because she remembered that Alex said she loved those once during a game night long ago. Esme has never seen her mom cry so hard.
• Nia found the book "Vertigo Peaks" in Lena's stuff once and decided to read it. Lena was horrified, and Nia teased her endlessly about it.
• Kelly and Lena once got into a debate of whether or not escapism is a good coping mechanism, and both of them had valid arguments PLUS cited their sources of information. Color Alex and Kara scared, but they're also attracted to this.
• Esme's favorite aunt is Lena and aspires to be like her. When they found out, everyone was like "awwww" but Lena was like "...Bad idea. Esme, honey, bad idea-" then everyone else was like "Don't listen to her."
• Alex, Kelly, Nia and Brainy once tried to convince Lena to be in the battlefield with them but Lena was like "Yeah no, someone needs to stay and be the brains of the operation." Kara then said "YEAH" because she doesn't want to see Lena get hurt and she knows she's abandoning the villain the second she sees Lena get hurt so no distractions allowed. Then Esme delivered the final blow by saying "Someone needs to stay and make whatchamacallits so you all don't die :)"
• Kara is extremely self sacrificial, but Esme unintentionally gave her a reality check by saying "But Auntie Kara, everyone won't sleep if you're in danger! Health is important!" and it sounds so innocent but deep down Kara is like "Oh right they will actually bend over backwards to save me and neglect themselves ah I need to stop"
• Lena releases all her pent up rage by walking onto the roof or balcony, taking a deep breath and scream.
Your reply on ao3 about your wife’s screenshot and being a cheerleader stuck with me, because I’ve realized I don’t actually articulate enough how amazing some writers (read: you) are. I finished the most recent chapter of soup (after eleven-thousand unacceptable distractions), and I was going to plunk together a quick comment that would absolutely not do enough justice to express the genius I find your writing to be. So instead I opened a google doc and started smashing my keyboard which resulted in a pretty long-winded... something, but allow me to fan-girl for like, a second:
The quality and style of your writing floors me every time. There is an effortlessness about it that makes it totally and completely bingeable but also something that gives a little more each time I read it. For me, it’s the most replayable form of literature: I can go back for the plot, for the character rapport, for the punchy dialogue, or for the voice of the narrator. It fits all the moods. It charms me. It amuses me. I want to hug it.
Your work excites me, and when I think of authors and works that excite me, I’m lumping you in with like, Heartburn which is an all-time favorite for that exact reason: I can binge it in a day or go back and sip on it and discover something clever and witty and just impossibly gorgeous in execution.
And speaking as someone who CANNOT for the life of me write something that doesn’t eventually tumble into a vat of angst, I also just adore the way you manage tension without losing the light-hearted reading experience. Holiday wine is a masterpiece, AND I think Soup is almost better because you juggle so much more: the chorus of characters are taking on their own plot lines, the stakes are higher, you add danger and adventure, you weave a more complex, interconnected storyline, and you massage it all beautifully to act as a supporting cast to the core of the story.
Which brings me to the trope (and a complete tangent): miscommunication. Like, ok look… I usually can’t stand it. But that’s mostly because of the execution: the obvious interruptions, the clear misdirection and disregard for natural intuition, the not asking the right questions, the very blatant ham-fisted forcefulness of it just… I can’t.
AND THEN YOU WENT AND MADE A MASTERCLASS OF IT.
You took every complaint you didn’t know I had and put in the work to make it believable. Kara is charmingly oblivious but not for lack of trying. She perfectly talks past Nia and Alex and Lena not just once but every. time. and every time is just so well-conceived and articulated and *gesticulates hands in the air wildly trying to find the right word* gah. The world of her confusion and misguidedness is so believable and commendable and *gesticulates again* gah. This is the absolute genius of the work. I will give kudos till I’m blue in the face about the story as a whole, but I will die on the ‘Easter crushed the miscommunication trope’ hill.
And this is just ONE EXAMPLE of how you knock it out of the park every single time. I could go on about how solidly you write the characters, how charming your prose is, how epic your one-shots are, or how I don’t even care that I can’t trust your chapter count anymore but this is already a run-on and I'm running out of air.
I don’t know how you write, if there is one draft or a million, if you just stream–of-conscious this into existence, or if you summon the words through a ouija board, but it’s brilliant and commendable and THANK YOU for doing what you’re doing.
so. this message is. a miracle? and you are a GIFT. and i’m not going to be able to elaborate much beyond that, because unlike you, i am terrible; at writing attentive notes, at handling compliments, and—hilariously, maybe, since i’ve finally started thinking of myself as a writer again after a decade of self-loathing false starts—at writing down my thoughts in an easily digestible way.
can i say it’s the nicest thing i’ve ever gotten from someone who isn’t (yet?) a close personal friend? that the timing of it was almost implausibly perfect because it arrived in the middle of the deep breathing exercises i was doing after being made aware of some deeply stupid twitter discourse around Soup that was going on right as i was getting ready to post its final chapter?
i think i’ll stick to the important stuff: like THANK YOU. like how your (AMAZING) note completely obliterated the bad stuff and made me excited not just to wrap up this fic, or even to jump into the next, but about doing it all in the first place. that it was a very needed reminder of what an immensely privileged position i’m in to be able to put something out online that brings people (you) enough joy that you want to come tell me about it. and, obviously, that the specific things you chose to highlight are extraordinarily flattering, and i am absolutely not immune to that kind of thing.
i went back and forth on publishing this ask because it feels almost embarrassing, and boastful. but whatever, you know? you made me feel good about my writing again and provided important perspective and ultimately you put thought and effort and overall awesomeness into it and i’m not going to hide that away when you intended it to be shared.
thank you. SO MUCH.
5, 6, and 20 of the character ask game, but let's be random. *Rolls dice* huh. okay, so Nia and Kelly it is!
5. What's the first song that comes to mind when you think about them?
I'll be honest... I don't listen to music that much. Especially when I'm writing/trying to, classical and soundtracks at best... and i'm terrible at relating songs to people, but for the sake of this, just now, Nia: I have a Dream - Abba Kelly: A thousand years - Christina Perri, (because i did a vid for the Dansen engagement and my mind goes 1+1=2)
6. What's something you have in common with this character?
Nia: We both be dreaming while being awake... (this is the reason I don't feel that comfy writing Nia, I don't think we have much in common. That girl is an extrovert and I'm over here shaking about having to make a call.) Kelly: We are both observers and too empathetic for our own good.
20. Which other character is the ideal best friend for this character, the amount of screentime they share doesn't matter?
Nia: within SG, I think Kara, which the show did. Nia and Lois would be SO chaotic together. Kelly: I think from SG, Lena, actually. Kelly and Iris also would be very interesting. And Kelly and Ryan too. Let me use Azie friendships to my evil plans.
Thanks so much for asking, bird. This one was the most complicated 😂
You could've die
A/N: So this took me more time then it should’ve so the ending is a bit rushed. But its finally done so hope you like it. And also even though this took me forever to finish I had an idea, I could make a part 2 were something happen with Y/N and there actually not ok or something like that. So if you would like that just tell me and I'll make a part 2.
Being the youngest person in a group of 8 superheroes certainly as its advantage and its disadvantages. Like the fact that everyone loves you, especially kara and Lena, and you loved all of them to. But since you were the youngest they were really overprotective of you, sometime they were treating you like a kid. Even Nia who was the former youngest super friend.
You were not allowed to go on any mission by your self, not even bank robberies. You officially became a super-friend a year ago and they were still not trusting you enough to go on solo missions, your powers were almost as great as Kara's abilities, you could create fire using solar radiation, you had super earing, freeze breath, super strength, you could jump really high and you can breath under water.
But they always feared you'll get hurt or worst. So you only did team mission where someone could keep an eye on you or you just stayed behind.
You were in the D.E.O arguing on a mission with J’onn. "Please j'onn." You plead. "Y/N i said no, your To young and your not trained enough." J'onn said in a Stern voice. "I've been training for a year and its a simple in and out mission, ill be fine."
2 days ago the D.E.O found an abandoned Cadmus base. They planned on sending an agent there to check if they didn't left some useful information there. You really wanted to do this mission, you wanted to prove to everyone you're potential, that you're ready to have more responsibility as a superhero.
You saw kara walking towards you and j'onn. "Kara, can you please tell J’onn that I have  enough training to go on that solo mission." You ask kara. "Y/N I'm sorry but J’onn is right it could be dangerous, and your to young you've not learned enough to go alone."
You crossed your arm, you thought that kara would be on your side. "How am I suppose to learn if i can't even try." J'onn and kara look at each other then back at you. "I'm sorry Y/N we can't let you go." You groan, turn around and walk away frustrated. It wasn't fair, it was really one if the simplest mission ever and they didn't even trust you to do that.
But there was one way to show them that you were capable. Tonight you were gonna go to the ex Cadmus base and do that mission by your self. The only thing is that you don't know were is this Cadmus base, luckily for you, you have just the right powers to spy on people.
You spend the rest of the day spying on j'onn and other agents, and by the end of it you had all the information you needed to do this mission alone. ________________________________________________________________
It was 11:00 PM and you were ready to go. You went to the exact coordinates that J’onn said earlier. You jumped building to building to get there quicker. It was a small 2 story building in the middle of no where, it looked old, The door had a lock on it, you grabbed it and with super strength you smashed it in pieces.
you opened the door and went in. The inside was pretty much empty, except for what looked like empty cages and boxes here and there. You adventure further into the building, after many minutes of searching rooms, you started to feel like you were being watched, despite your growing fears you kept on going further into the building.
'Maybe it wasn't a good idea after all.' You thought. You entered an other room, this one was huge. You expected the room to be empty like the rest, so you were a bit surprised when you saw the room was filled with computers, a little like the D.E.O  control center with less light and smaller.
You inspected the computers, unlike the ones at the D.E.O those computer looked super old. You tried to open one, after a few second the screen open. "Of course there's a password." You told your self.
You were so focused on trying to figure out the password you didn't hear the footsteps coming your way. "Don't move!" you heard someone say from behind you. Your put you hand up in the air and slowly turn around. 6 men with a gun each were standing there guns pointing at you, the man standing in the front and a gun that was definitely not made with earth material, it was for sure alien tech.
You had no idea how to get out of this situation. You thought about running away but obviously you wouldn't get really far, so you did the first thing that popped up in your mind. Your hands lit up with your fire energy. You throw a ball of fire at them, you watch as the ball hit the men but didn't do anything.
' Body shield. Really!' You thought. Not even a second later the man holding the alien looking gun shoot you, you were thrown back ward and, knock over one of the table. You groaned when you hit the ground, you got back up but immediately felt dizzy and of balance, whilst trying to steady yourself you heard 2 guns go off, before you could do anything you felt a sharp pain in your lower abdomen. A loud cry left your mouth as you clutch the wounded area, you fell on your knees and watch as a growing red spot started To form on your clothes.
You opened your signal watch and clicked on the diamond shape button.
 Kara's apartment
 Kara was starting to doze off when she heard your signal watch go off, she jumped out of her bed and in a second she was out of the window in her super suit.
 Back at the old Cadmus base
 You knew kara was fast but you still couldn't stay behind that table, you got up and despite the dizziness and pain you managed to use your freeze breath on them, they were blown away slightly and you use that momentum to limp out of the room. You Walked as fast as you could in the long corridor but you could clearly ear foot step catching up to you. You looked behind to see how far the man were and when you turned back you saw a gun pointed directly at your face, you stopped and raised your hands in the air, the person holding the gun hit you in the face with it, you cough a little and tasted blood in your mouth. Suddenly you felt extremely weak and exhausted, your legs give out from under you and you fell to the ground. After that you don't really know what happened you just ear someone talking to you, your not sure who it is but you think it might be kara.
 Kara arrived to a building's location, she used her x-ray vision to see where you were, she saw you laying on the ground surrounded by a group of arm guards. She sped in the building and on the second floor, she made quick work of knocking the guards down. She went to your side and turned you over on your back, she saw the blood on your suit and panicked. Your eyes were closed and for a second she thought you were dead, but then she heard your heart beat it was slow but still there. "Y/N, can you hear me." She ask. You nodded slightly. "Ok good, can you open your eyes for me." You opened your eyes but then closed them again, they were too heavy and you were too tired. "Hey... no... no no no don't fall a sleep on me, please."
You tried your best to keep them open but it was extremely difficult. A warm liquid started to fill your mouth, it had a strange metallic taste to it, 'Blood?' You thought, you hoped it wasn't but it was the only thing that would make sense. You coughed and some of the liquid dripped down your chin and on you cheek. "Shit, that's not good. Ok, Y/N? I'm gonna pick you up and bring you to the D.E.O, its gonna be ok, I just need you to stay awake ok?" Kara said with a shaky voice. " 'll try." you managed to say.
Kara scooped you up in her arms and quickly flew to the D.E.O, you passed out from exhaustion and blood lost on the way there.
When kara arrived at the D.E.O, she handed you over to the medical team, and they immediately started to treat your injuries. Kara then called everyone to let them know what happened. Lena was the first one to arrive at the D.E.O. "What the hell happened?!" Lena ask when she arrived in the waiting room. "Lena, calm down please." " Kara you call me in the middle of the night saying that something happened to Y/N, and that there is in surgery. so no I'm not gonna calm down, now tell me what the hell happened." She said extremely worried about you. " Ok I'm sorry. So Y/N is hurt pretty bad, she was shot." Kara explained worry visible in her face. "By who." Lena asked. "I don't know, I found her in the ex Cadmus base we were suppose to investigate." "What where they doing there alone?"
"Well earlier, Y/N asked J'onn and I if they could investigate the Cadmus bas in solo. We didn't let them because it was to dangerous, I guess they want anyway. I just don't know how they got the location, we didn't tell them obviously." Kara said. "Why would they do that?" "I don't know."
They both waited in silence. After sometime Alex and kelly Walked in, and Kara explained everything to them. By the time you were out of surgery everyone was waiting in the waiting room. Doctor Millers came in the room to inform them of your condition. "Y/N is going to be fine." She announced. Everyone let out a breath they didn't know they were holding, they were all relieved to hear that. " But they do have severe injuries. They were shot twice in the abdomen. One of the bullets managed to punctured one of there lungs, but we managed to fix that. The other didn't damage any organs." They all nodded in acknowledgement.
"when can we see them?" Kara ask impatiently. "You can go see them now but, they're gonna be asleep for a while" The doctor said letting them in your room.
The next day
You woke up the next day to voices surrounding you. You slowly opened your eyes, but quickly closed them again when you saw the blinding lights above you. " Y/N?" You heard a familiar voice beside you. You reopened your eyes and saw Kara worried face standing over you. "Hey, your finally awake. Are you okay does something hurt?" Kara ask from beside you. You notice the wires attach to you and that most of your team was at your bed side. "I'm ok, i think." You said in a tired voice. "You think?" Lena ask from your other side. " I don't know, i feel kinda numb."
" Numb? Is that suppose to happen?" Kara ask looking at alex. "Numbness can be a side effect of surgery so yeah you might feel numb for a couple of hours." You and kara both nodded in acknowledgement. "How long was I out?" You ask. "A day." Alex responded. "And what happened?" You ask. " Emm... I found you in the abandoned Cadmus building we were supposed to investigate. You were shot twice in the abdomen. You're really lucky i got there when I did, you could of died Y/N." Kara said wiping some tears away and you could clearly see the worry in her eyes. " I'm sorry." you said feeling guilty for making kara cry.
"It's fine don't worry. Just... please don't ever pull something like that again and, get some rest." " I promise." You said closing your eyes and drifting back to sleep.
 You woke up after some time with a sharp pain in your abdomen. You groaned and slowly opened your eyes. "Is everything ok Y/L/N?" Your doctor ask whilst checking your vitals. "it hurt." Was the only thing you said but she still understood. "Ok just wait a second." She said making her way to the other side of the medical bay. She came back not long after with a syringe. She gave you the medication through the IV in your arm. The pain meds didn't completely take away the pain but it did a good job at easing it. "Thanks." You thanked, she gave you a smile and left the room. After a few minutes Lena came in the room.
 "Hey." She said. "hey." "Are you ok?" She asked, coming to sit beside you. "I'm as ok as I can be." You say with a small smile. "Good." She said. "Y/N can I ask something." Lena ask after a minute of silence. "Mmmm." " Why did you go without telling anybody?" She ask. You took a deep breath and answered. "Because I wanted to prove to everyone that I was capable to do a mission on my own. And that I was ready to have more responsibilities. Because you guys never let me go on real mission cause I'm not 'trained enough'. Even if I've been training for 2 years." You said a serious look on your face.
 "Y/N we just want to protect you." "But I don't want you to protect me i want to be out there, i want to be a superhero like kara, Alex or Nia. But no one lets me. And after what happened i doubt they'll ever let me." You say with a sigh. "You know what, I will talk to John about this and I'm sure he'll understand, and maybe we could come to an agreement, but on one condition." She paused. "Don't ever do this again, you hear me. Ever again. You really scared us, not knowing if you were gonna make it was, terrifying, especially for kara." "I promise i won't." You said. "Is kara mad at me? Last time we talk she really didn't look happy with me, and she didn't came back to talk or something." You ask. "No don't worry she was just very worried for you. She'll come soon I'm sure." she said reassuringly.  You then both continued talking for a while. Before you fell back a sleep.
Seeing that you'd fall asleep, Lena left your room to go talk to kara.
Kara was standing in the D.E.O lobby, leaning on the rails. Lena stood beside kara. " How are they?" Kara ask. " You know you’d know that if you go and talk To them." Kara sight " I know... i know i should go and see them... i just... i Feel guilty for what happened." "Why would it be your fault, your not the one who shot them, you saved them." Lena stated. "I know but i can't stop thinking that if i had taken there side earlier we could of been able to know sooner that they were in trouble." "You did what you thought was right and they're not really mad at you." "What do you mean not really, they're mad at me for something else?" " No they're... you know what just go talk to them." Kara nodded and went to the med bay. ________________________________________
When you woke up again you saw kara on her phone sitting next to you.
"Kara?" you ask sleep evident in your voice. She smiled down at you and closed her phone. "Hey, how you feeling." She asked. "I'm fine. wounds hurt a bit but  it's fine." "Good good." An awkward silence fell between you before both you talk at the same time. "I just want to say..." you say as kara speaks too. "Y/N I'm really..."
"Sorry you can go first." Kara says "Ok well i just wanted to say that I'm really sorry." You say sincerely. "Why." " Lena told me i scared everybody, and it really wasn't my intention, i just wanted to prove to you all that i was ready to have more responsibilities and i can go on missions on my own." You said trying to get in a sitting position but groaned and flopped back down as it pulled your stitches. "But after that i doubt I'm going to be able to step foot in a fight again. I just wanted to stop being treated like a kid." You sigh. "Your right. We should've let you in on more missions, I'm sorry we didn't. I promise were going to stop treating you like a kid. But you need to promise that if you ever do this again please just tell someone. So that we can know the second you're in trouble." She said holding your hand. "I promise." "Not that your allowed to do anything like that again." She says smiling a bit.
Oh, this chapter was a beast. I'm starting to get the hang of writing Andrea though. Sprinkling in her heritage helped a lot actually, and made it a bit more fun. Plus I went down the rabbit hole of increasingly bizarre Argentinian slang. That was a ton of fun. This chapter is very heavy on Rojarias. It implies supercorp though.
EXCERPT:
Sam hated being away from Ruby. Three days in hiding. Three days where she dealt with snipers. Three days where keeping Andrea alive was proving to be far more messy than expected.
Two and a half days since Lena, Kara, and Nia vanished off the their radar. No reply to texts, phone calls failed to go through, and not even Brainy with his high tech could pinpoint their signals.
Tomorrow Sam had to go into the office for a crucial meeting, which meant Andrea would have to come with her. She couldn’t leave the woman alone in Lena’s loft. Sure, Lena might trust Sam, but she knew Lena did not trust Andrea. Her permission only extended as long as Sam was with Andrea. That much Sam knew from Lena’s subtext.
At the moment, she wanted to just plan tomorrow and call her daughter. That required Andrea to cooperate with her. After three days together, Andrea had fluctuated between flirting, not speaking at all, or tossing out insults like candy. Sam had wondered if Andrea viewed pushing her to get a reaction as a game, but then last night had happened. That altered Sam's interpretation of Andrea's prickly and sometimes flirtatious behavior significantly.
***
"If I don't do something, I'll lose my mind with worry," Sam muttered. It was late evening, the sun had long set, and Sam was still unable to figure out a solution to Andrea's situation. She turned on the TV but watching something felt too aggravating. What she really needed was to release her energy, so she pulled out Lena's box of consoles instead. "Not being able to help is maddening."
Her call with her daughter had helped only marginally, but not being able to hug Ruby and give her a forehead kiss goodnight? Or sending a goodnight text to Lena to remind her to cuddle her beefcake? Sam missed them, and her worry especially for Lena, Kara, and Nia had her wishing she could figure out flying. She'd race to Ireland and search for them if it could help, but that wasn't possible. So distractions it was.
"Distractions is a tactic, no? Do you play much video games?" Andrea sat down on the sofa and picked up one of the controllers from the box under the table, where most of the video game and board games were kept.
"Yeah, with Ruby. You play?" Sam gestured to the big screen TV with her controller. She pulled up the menu for the game, but moved her joystick back and forth between single player and multi.
"Si." Andrea smirked at Sam's startled look. "I am not so uncultured, Sam. One of the programs at Obsidian is a virtual world where players can do anything. I work mostly in the business section of my father's company, but I also organize the public beta testing events. Though virtual reality is un poco," Andrea held up her finger and thumb to show a tiny sliver of gap between them, "more complex than this." She held up the controller. "This is - quaint."
"Huh. What a roaring review. I'll be sure to let Ruby know you called one of her favorites quaint." Sam grinned and lightly pushed her shoulder against Andrea's. This startled the woman, who looked at Sam with slightly narrowed eyes.
"I formally challenge you then," Andrea said with perfect, British diction. A massive difference from the lilt of her Spanish accent.
Sam wasn't the best with accents, but she figured she'd give it a try in the spirit of the game. "I formally accept your challenge."
Andrea laughed. "You call that an accent? The frog croaks better."
"Oh, shut up and play," Sam growled. She flicked to multiplayer and entered the character screen. They'd played well into the night, where Andrea turned out to be a relatively decent gamer. Sam had ordered pizza, checked it for poisons - couldn't be too careful, and did her best to try not to think about the fact she desperately missed her daughter, and was incredibly worried for her missing friends. Andrea seemed to sense this as her insults were at a minimum, which was a rarity.
TV Series Discussion: Supergirl
Season 6 (2021)
The adventures of Superman's cousin and her own superhero career.
Source: IMDb (2015)
A Bittersweet End
I am going to start this out by saying I had no expectations for Supergirl Season 6. I might have watched all the previous seasons, but I was disappointed with the last or last 2 season(s). Although I adore Supergirl and the Super Friends, the plots were often average. Now thinking back, I can't even name a Supergirl villain that stuck to me.
That being said, this final season of Supergirl was much better than the previous seasons. It got me hooked onto the show and there were times when I was actually emotional. Although the villains were way below mid, the storylines were solid. And the action, I absolutely enjoyed it. Even the character developments were good. As a Supergirl season, season 6 was one of the better ones. As a final season, I believe it could have been better plotted.
Lets start with the villains. I'm not saying Nyxly was a marvellous villain but because of her existence and actions, it created several great storylines, especially the role it played into Kara's self-realisation, then development.
Lex on the other hand, his arc was so weirdly written. The Lex Luthor I was used to disappeared in season 6, for real. Him being in love really ruined his arc, when he could have gone down as one of the show's better villains. But, I like what the writers did with this character. I mean, people have tried to kill Lex, he lived. People have tried to incarcerate Lex, he walked away scott free. Other than the Phantom Zone, I doubt there would be another way to get rid of Lex once and for all.
As for Lillian. I hated her throughout all 6 seasons. I really did not like the idea of her redemption in the end but her redemption meant enlightenment for Lena. For that, I eventually accepted that there was a redemption arc for this infuriating woman. Perhaps, if her redemption was shown gradually through this last season, I might not have disliked the idea as much.
Through the entire season, I enjoyed more than I was bored. I liked more than I disliked. Unfortunately, there was something I seriously wished the writers never wrote down. What happened to William did not need to happen, or at least, not to him. It's not as if William's death meant the whole Super Friends was going on a revenge path, so why bring him back from being shot only to have him go permanently by being shot? He was the one character I constantly wished nothing happened to him since his first appearance...
Moving on to brighter topics, lets talk about Kelly. First thing first, that episode that was Kelly-centric? Wow. It was the first time Azie Tesfai impressed me. The way Tesfai portrayed Kelly in the episode, it was almost like I could feel everything Kelly was experiencing. Then came their wedding scene and I am never one for vows, not a romantic and could care less about wedding vows. However, Kelly's vows to Alex touched my heart. I really don't know if it's the words, Tesfai's acting, or the combination of both. Whatever it is, I finished Supergirl extremely aware of what a magnificent actress Tesfai is.
Next, Nia. Not only did Nia (and Dreamer) grow, Nicole Maines improved so much too. I never disliked Maines nor her character but the acting always felt a little awkward. Usually, I just let it go because if Nia is one awkward girl, Dreamer will be awkward too and thus the awkward acting. This last season proved me wrong because I still see awkward Nia but the acting very obviously improved. Completely off the tangent here but when Nia confronted Maeve? Atta girl! I loved it when Nia told her sister, she will not forgive her but she can give a second chance. That's the way, actually. How do people forgive without seeing how others handle their second chances?
Lastly, Kara's character arc. I have always loved it when Kara showed vulnerability. In this season, she's practically always vulnerable even when she's not actively attacked. It hurts to watch Supergirl lose hope so often but then the way the smallest things brought back some hope to her? Love it. The courage plot was something else too, something I did not see play out the way it did. As much as I loved it, I still don't know how I feel about the season ending with the world finding out Supergirl's identity.
After watching several Arrowverse shows consecutively, Supergirl was a nice end before a break from the Arrowverse TV shows. Although Kara and Mon-El are not endgame, I am still very happy that the finale brought back the old faces.
Rating: ★★★★☆
Note
I actually thought in s6 each super friend will get to have a story arc and "conquer" one totem, then do a captain planet lmao. but also- j'onn (courage), alex + kelly (love), nia (dream), kara (the rest technically), brainy and lena didn't have a storyline which was... interesting i suppose
That would have been really nice, and given each main character a moment in the sun during the final season ... and I'm sure if they tried they could have woven in Lena's witchy storyline into the totem framework too.
Instead Alex borrowed Oliver's makeup (I forgot her superhero name) and Lena went to Ireland via Newfoundland to investigate her supernatural superpower ... S6 had some concepts that sounded like they could work on paper but didn't quite get there on screen.
Cuffs and Lace
Alex strides into The Tower confidently. She is clutching onto a large envelope in her right hand as she addresses the Super friends.
“Alright so I'm running point on this one because all of you are shit leaders – and yes Kara, I specifically mean you.” Kara pouts at the words but doesn't object. “I have all of the info we need but you guys are doing the heavy lifting today because Mama needs a day off from all of your whining.”
Kelly nudges Alex's shoulder with her own and pulls her to the side. Everyone watches intently as a few choice words are whispered into the red-head's ear before watching as her shoulders slump slightly prior to her stepping forward and announcing a reluctant, barely-there apology.
“Ok, so I will do some of the work but I'm giving myself the easiest job.” Alex smirks at everyone.
“So, what is the actual mission? You aren't being very clear.” Nia asks, raising her hand.
“Put your hand down Dreamer, this isn't middle school.” Alex quips, therefore receiving another glare from her girlfriend. “And this is a big one. We are finding out who is the mastermind behind all the orchestrated attacks that we have been dealing with every week. You all know the ones. Every Thursday night without fail we have been dealing with these idiots, but our problem is that these idiots have alien weapons, so we need to stop this now before anyone gets seriously hurt.”
“For once I actually agree with Alex in saying that we need to nip this in the bud before it gets any worse, we have already stopped six attacks at this point.” Lena adds, lounging in a chair off to the side of the room.
“Right so we are going to split into teams, Nia and Brainy are going to take the North and East sides of the city and J'onn and M'gann are going to take the West and south sides. We need to be ready for any attacks and we need to respond quickly. I will be staying here with Kelly to monitor everything and eat pizza.
“What about us?” Kara asks as she perches on the arm of Lena's chair as the brunette leans into her side.
“I have a stage name for the mastermind and you guys are going to go investigate her and find out her real name. I know you guys will enjoy this one because you get to dress up.”
She flicks the envelope at them before harshly barking out a dismissal that makes them all make a quick exit.
As soon as Kara and Lena make it onto the street, they agree to discuss the mission over lunch back at Lena's penthouse.
“At least we get to do some investigating together.” Lena reasons as Kara moans about how Alex will be eating pizza while she is out on the mission.
“That's true, you do make everything a tiny bit better.”
“Only a tiny bit?” Lena's eyebrow quirks up.
“Ok ok, maybe a lot better but don't let that go to your head.” Kara shakes her head fondly at the brunette.
“It's too late for that.” Lena smirks.
Kara is about to respond when they reach Lena's building, effectively cutting off her train of thought. “I always forget how awesome this building is.”
“That's because you only usually see my balcony and my apartment. I can't even remember the last time you used the front door.” Lena quips and smiles as Kara blushes profusely.
“It's a more effective entrance Lena, you just don't understand.”
“Oh, is that right Miss Danvers.”
“Indeed, it is Ms Luthor.” Kara gives in to their little game and giggles first prompting Lena to grin and chuckle.
“You're weird.” Lena snipes as she rushes into the elevator and pushes the close door button, locking Kara out with a boisterous laugh.
She continues to chuckle to herself as she rides the elevator up to the top floor, where she is greeted with a frowning Kara, who stands leaning against her door with her arms crossed.
“You're mean.” That sends Lena into another bout of laughter as she attempts to open her door around Kara, who is pouting and refusing to move. After her fifth attempt at reaching the biometric lock, she takes a step back and calms herself as she looks over at Kara's frowning face. “I'm sorry.”
The effect is immediate. Kara's face brightens slightly but the pout remains. “You're sorry what?”
Lena lets out a loud sigh. “I'm sorry and I will order potstickers for lunch.”
Kara beams and places her hand on the biometric screen to open the door, still finding it cool that Lena gave her access to her apartment, it always makes her feel like a spy. “Ok, let's order lunch and then we will take a peek inside this envelope.” She wafts the envelope at Lena and giggles as she snatches it out of her hands and taps the top of her head with it.
Together, thy proceed to the couch where Kara flops down gracelessly and Lena folds her legs beneath her as she pulls her phone out and quickly orders their usual order from their favourite Chinese restaurant.
“Right then, let's get down to business and see what we'll be up to tonight.” Lena swiftly pulls the papers out of the envelope.
“What have we got then captain?”
“We have one evil mastermind by the name of 'Roulette' and she apparently has a bunch of snake tattoos.” Lena skims the page, taking in the information. “And we will be finding her at a place called...Cuffs and Lace.” Lena's eyebrows shoot up as she reads the name.
“It's called what now?” Kara chokes out.
“Looks like we're being sent to a BDSM club. No wonder Alex wanted to stay back and eat pizza.”
“That's...that's...um...nice.”  Kara stutters out. “What exactly does one wear to a BDSM club?”
Lena laughs at how awkward Kara has become, there is something very endearing about watching Supergirl become flustered.  “Probably something black will be just fine.”
“Oh Rao. This is not what I was expecting.” Kara runs her hands over her face and chuckles lightly.
“This is going to be fun Kara; we get to go and find some ridiculously provocative outfits and go watch some strangers get their kink on. What's not to love?”
“How about the part where I have to wear a provocative outfit and watch some strangers get kinky?”
“Come on, this will be fun. Plus, I want to see Supergirl show some skin, I know you have a sexy little body beneath those cardigans.” Lena smirks.
“You're evil.” Kara whines.
“Damn right.” Lena stands and begins to make her way into her bedroom. She catches Kara's questioning gaze, “I'm going to find us some outfits, are you coming, or do I get to decide for you?”
“I'm definitely not leaving it up to you, I'd end up going in my underwear.”
Lena's eyes cloud over for a second in thought. She can't help but feel guilty about how much the thought of her best friend entering a BDSM club in just her underwear would be. What kind of underwear does Kara wear? Is she a boxer and sports bra kind of girl or is she the lacy lingerie kind? She hopes the latter, there is something so delicious about how someone so strong can be so feminine.
“No comment.” Kara shoves her lightly with her shoulder as she speeds past her to perch on the edge of Lena's bed. “Make yourself comfortable, I'll go get some options.”
Lena is quick and precise with her movements as she makes her way into her walk-in closet and pulls items of clothing from various hangers and drawers.
“Hey! I just thought. How are we going to disguise our identities? We can't exactly go as ourselves. The press would have a field day with you being seen in a place like that and I think that Mr Stick-up-his-ass Ashfield from the board would murder you.”
“Don't worry your pretty little head about it Sugar, I've got plenty of masks from the many, many masquerade themed galas I've been forced to go to in my life.” Lena already knows which one she wants to give to Kara. There is an ocean blue, sapphire jewelled domino mask that she is certain will bring out the colour of the blonde's eyes like nothing before ever has, and that's saying something.
Kara's cheeks turn a familiar shade of pink at her comment, but Lena doesn't comment on it, happy to just take the win.
“I don't think we need that many options!” Kara exclaims as she eyes the huge mound of clothes that Lena has just dumped on the bed in front of her.
“We do because I want a fashion show from you, let me see how sexy you can be.” Lena smirks and throws a dress at Kara.
“Comments like that are why everyone always thinks that we're dating you know...or sleeping together.”
“That's because your too oblivious to respond to my flirting.” The brunette runs her hand over Kara's calf.
“Well, if maybe if you actually ask me out on a date instead of just trying to get me into bed, I'll stop being so oblivious.” Lena's eyes widen at the statement. Did Kara really just- she totally did.
“Well then, would the lady like to accompany me on a lovely date to a certain club tonight? I believe it's called 'Cuffs and Lace'.” She is quickly greeted with a pillow to the face.
“As if I am agreeing to go on a date with you to a place like that. That's at least a fifth date location.”
Lena let's out a loud sigh. “Just put on the dress Danvers.”
Kara tries to protest but a quick glare has her grabbing the garment and speeding into the closet to put it on. Before the younger woman even had time to blink, Kara is standing before her in what she believes is the sexiest, most see-through dress she has ever seen. It is short, black skin-tight but extremely sheer to the point that she can very clearly make out the enticing blue lace underwear that her best friend is wearing beneath it.
“It's perfect!”
“It's see-through.” Kara dead pans and crosses her arms over her chest self-consciously.
“Fuck the rest of these outfits because that is perfect for what we need tonight plus you really do look beautiful.” Lena can't keep her eyes away from the blue underwear and the delightfully chiselled abs on display. “I have just the outfit that will complement yours perfectly so you can't change now.”
Kara rolls her eyes dramatically. “You're not the boss of me.”
Lena steps into Kara's space, a breath away from her face. Kara's eyes are trained on the red lips before her. “Are you sure about that? From where I'm standing it is veryclear who is in charge here.”
Before she could fumble out a reply there is a sharp knock on the door.
“That must be lunch. Be a darling and go and get it.” A quick nod and she is out of the bedroom. She takes a deep breath and heads to the door. She grips the handle tightly before swinging the door open widely.
The delivery boy can't be any older than seventeen and his mouth drops open as he taken in the sight of the goddess before him in all her glory.
“D-delivery.” He stutters out.
All too quickly, Kara becomes aware of her predicament and rushes to take the bag out of the boy's hand, tossing way too much money at him before practically slamming the door in his face. Once the door is shut, she sighs and rests her head against the wood in humiliation.
She only moves from her position when she hears a boisterous laugh from behind her. She turns to see the brunette leaning against the bedroom door frame.
“I have a feeling that you just gave him wank material for the rest of his life.”  The loud groan she receives sends her into another fit of laughter.
Kara doesn't say a word and simply just heads into the kitchen to set out their lunch.
“I'm just gonna get changed really quick so why don't you go and get us some plates and some drinks?” She doesn't wait for a reply, she just strides out of the room without a care in the world.
Kara makes quick work of setting out the food and grabbing them both a soda before settling down on one if the bar stools and stuffing a whole potsticker into her mouth. She is debating calling Alex and making her go to the club instead of her, she has no idea how to act in a place like that. She's grateful that she will at least have Lena by her side, she's never seen her get fazed by anything.
She almost chokes on the potsticker in her mouth when she sees Lena strut out of her bedroom in her outfit. She is wearing a black two-piece outfit that consists of tight black leather pants and a leather crop top that leaves a strip of her perfect alabaster skin revealed and accentuates her perfect breasts.
“What do you think?” A devilish smirk makes its way across her face.
It takes Kara a long moment to come up with an answer. “You look great but why can't I have that outfit and you have this one? You seem like you would be a lot more comfortable showing up in a see-through dress than I am, that one actually lets you keep your dignity, not that there is anything wrong with women that want to go in their underwear and that they can't keep their dignity because of course they can but they're not me and I don't do that.”
Lena smiles fondly as she listens to her ramble.
“Darling, this is an outfit that only a top can pull off and we both know that you're a bottom.”
“No! I'm not a bottom, I'm Supergirl!” She cries indignantly.
“That has nothing to do with the fact that you're a bottom, it's nothing to be ashamed of either. Now quiet down and eat your lunch, we have a busy evening ahead of us.” Lena chastises.
Kara grumbles slightly but does as she's told which leaves Lena trying to contain her smile as her theory of Kara's submissive side is confirmed. It stokes her ego that she can make the almighty Supergirl do what she wants. She munches thoughtfully on her salad as she watches the blonde shovel her potstickers into her mouth and decides to see just how far she can push her, after all she didn't have to come on this mission with her since she is doing it voluntarily so she should at least get to have a little bit of fun...or a lot of fun.
“So, I have another request.” The statement causes Kara to swallow her mouthful quickly and Lena is unsure if she even chewed.
“I don't remember you making any previous requests, they all felt like demands.”
“Are you willing to listen or not?”
“...yes Lena.”
“Good, so I made something for you, and I've been waiting for the right time to give it to you but I'm not going to tell you what it is or give it to you unless you agree to wear it this evening.” It spikes the kryptonian’s curiosity, but she has a feeling that it will get her into trouble.
“Once again, that doesn't sound like a request.”
“Yes or no Kara, we don't have all day.” She is going to get Kara to agree one way or another, she just knows it.
“Fine.”
Lena beams and hurries over to her home office to grab a small silver box and jogs back to place it on the counter in front of Kara. She reaches for it, but her hand gets slapped away.
“Close your eyes and put your left hand out.” She does as instructed, just as Lena anticipated. The box snaps open and before Kara knows it, she can feel her powers draining from her and her eyes open wide in surprise. Her right hand comes to rip it off in panic, but the other girl catches it quickly and calms her. “It's ok, it's just a red sun bracelet.”
“Wh-what?”
“I made it because you mentioned how you hate how hard it is to control your strength when giving people hugs but I figured that it might make a nice addition to your outfit tonight and help us have a good time.” The bracelet is a thin silver band with the L-Corp 'L' on it. “So, now that I have upheld my side of the deal and shown you, you have to uphold your end and wear it this evening.”
Uncertainty paints the kryptonian's face. “What if this Roulette person is dangerous and I need to take her down?”
“Well, this is a reconnaissance mission, isn't it? We only have to figure out her name plus if we have to, we can always take it off you.” Lena can see the war raging behind the blonde's pretty little face. She can tell that Kara is not-so-secretly enjoying the idea of being vulnerable in a place like Cuffs and Lace.
“Ok, but it comes off if something goes wrong.” Kara smiles shyly.
“Agreed.”
They spend the rest of the afternoon preparing for their mission. Lena insisted on doing Kara's hair and make-up to match her outfit, so she leaves her hair down to frame her face but curls it slightly and paints her eyes with a blue eye-shadow to match her underwear. Throughout the whole process Lena drops in the occasional 'good girl' which never fails to make Kara blush. The brunette loves how with every time she says it, Kara seems to grow slightly more submissive and comfortable in the role.
Lena ties her own hair back into a slick ponytail and does a nice smoky eye before putting on a plain black domino mask and helping Kara into the blue one.
“Are you ready?”
“As I'll ever be.” Kara's nervous, Lena can tell.
“I'll be right there with you, plus if you want to leave for any reason or stop what we are doing, all you have to do is say my mother's name.”
“Why your mother's name?” The confusion is evident on her face, but Lena finds it charming.
“Because she'll be the furthest thing from our minds once we are there. You'll see.” Kara takes comfort in Lena's familiar smile and allows her to take her hand and lead her down to the car that the CEO had thought to order. She was also extremely grateful that Lena had given her a coat to cover herself with, but then again, she knows that her best friend doesn't really want to humiliate her.
The club is a lot less inconspicuous from the outside than she was anticipating. It just looks like a normal warehouse except that it has bouncers at the door.
Lena handles the entrance fee and pulls her inside gently by her hand. Kara is quickly becoming accustomed to Lena taking charge as she checks their coats and winks seductively.
“Let's go get some drinks and show off how hot we are.”
Kara is helpless to follow.
It's as if her body just naturally knows that Lena knows best, and she wants nothing more than to please the other woman. Has it always been this way? She can't even remember but she is well aware that she has always given Lena the reigns with their relationship, it's just their dynamic, or so she thought. She is only now, as she stands, tucked as close to her best friend's side as she can get in the middle of a BDSM club that maybe she does have a submissive streak and paired with the massive crush she has on the dark-haired woman, this will be her downfall.
Kara can't help but feel as though all eyes are on her and keeps her head down as much as she can, so she doesn't make eye-contact with anyone. She just tries to focus on the thumping background music.
“You have her well trained.” A smooth, sensual voice gets her attention, but she still tries to avoid looking directly at the woman.
“I'm sorry?” Lena tilts her head in confusion at the brunette woman.
“Your sub, I don't think that she has lifted her eyes from the floor once. It took me months to train mine to keep her eyes down, but my god do I love her for her stubborn streak, it gives me a reason to beat her ass now and again.” The woman chuckles gleefully.
Lena picks up on what is happening quickly and wraps her arm around Kara's waist protectively. “Thank you, but I can't take all of the credit, this one is a natural. This is actually our first time here, do you have any recommendations?”
“I have to say that you're doing well for first timers. I recommend you have a look around and take in some of the scenes from the regulars, they often inspire some creativity of your own to play out in one of the private suites upstairs.” Kara lifts her head to watch Lena but doesn't glance over at the other woman.
“Thank you, we'll keep that in mind.” Lena's eyes meet Kara’s, and she lands a firm smack on the blonde's backside. “Eyes down.”
Kara is shocked but does as she is told, which leaves Lena with an impressed smile upon her face.
“Oh, she is a cutie!” The stranger exclaims. “And such a sexy little body on her too, just look at those abs!”
The attention makes the blonde flush pink and burrow further into Lena's side. Even now, as she is standing with her under wear on show and having a stranger comment on her body, she feels safe and protected as she is tucked firmly into her best friend's side, her protector's side.
Lena doesn't think that Kara can get any closer to her, but quietly makes note of how good it feels to have her there. Kara is a couple an inch or two shorter since she opted out of wearing heels unlike Lena, who went for some tall killer heels and Lena can't help but stare in wonder at Kara as she is all small and clingy and... submissive.
“I know, she is just adorable.” Lena beams. “Now, I believe that we will take your suggestion and take a look around. It's been a pleasure meeting you....” She trails off, hoping to catch a name.
“Andrea.” A small smile. “I don't think I caught your names either?”
Panic flashes in Kara's eyes but as always, the brunette already has a plan. “Saskia, and this is K.”
“I hope to see you again Saskia, and maybe next time we will see a little more of K, if you catch my drift.”
Lena can't help the spike of jealousy as she watches Andrea ogle Kara's breasts but chases away the feeling quickly.
“Believe me, I'm planning on making that happen.” The confident statement sends a rush of arousal right to Kara's core and she squeezes her thighs together tightly, a fact in which didn't go unnoticed by the two other women but thankfully, nobody comments on it. “We hope to see you again too, perhaps even share one of those private rooms you told us about?”
Andrea's smile is wide and predatory. “I'll hold you to that.” With one final eye fuck of Kara, she leaves.
“You did well.”
Kara's eyes finally snap back up to meet Lena's.
“That was humiliating.”
“But it turned you on didn't it.” Kara flounders for a minute whilst Lena smirks at her. “You are a natural at being a bottom, I love it.”
One second Kara is trying to think of a weak response and the next she is being lead across the room by a strong hand on her back. They stop as they reach a small cordoned off area in which two people are putting on a show. There are at least a dozen people standing at the edge of the partition, some scantily clad and others naked. Some wearing leather and chains and others wearing nothing but a collar.
At the centre of their attention is a man and a woman. The woman is tying the man with soft-looking, red cord. The weaving is extravagant, twisting this way and that, forming a beautiful pattern across his body and leaving him completely immobile as his hands are trapped behind his back and tied to a stiff vertical pole that leads to the ceiling.
Lena watches the wonder appear in her companion's eyes as she takes in the scene. “Does that turn you on, pretty girl? The thought of being all tied up like that, your body at my mercy?” She strokes some soft blonde hair out of her face and snatches it up into a bunch at the back of her head and pulls as she whispers the sentence.
Another clench of her thighs before she finds her ankles kicked apart, turning her on even more. “Tonight baby-girl, I decide what you get to feel.” Kara whimpers helplessly but nods, more turned on than ever. With each action Lena takes, she gets slightly less self-conscious and finds herself sinking easily into the role of needy submissive.
They stay there for several more minutes, just watching as Lena stands behind Kara, her chin resting on her shoulder as she keeps her thigh between the kryptonian's spread legs grinding against her periodically and running her hands over the material on her stomach. Every so often her fingertips skim up to her breasts, just barely brushing over her bra-clad nipples.
Part of Kara wants to leave, to get out of the situation because this isn't what best friends are meant to do but a stronger part of her wants to stay here forever, let Lena possess her.
Their next destination is just a few metres away where they are greeted by swinging slaps as a sub is being spanked methodically as they are tied over a spanking bench.
Once again, Lena leans in to make a lewd comment in Kara's ear. “I'd love to beat your ass like that. I bet it would make you all whiny and impatient, desperate for me to fill you up.” The brash statement is accompanied by a wandering hand coming down and grasping her pussy roughly. Kara moans loudly, drawing the attention of many of the other patrons, unbeknownst to her as she is too focused on the hand between her legs.
She is so focused on the hand that she doesn't even realize that her dress has been unzipped and is now being pulled off her body until it is too late, and she is stood in nothing but her lacy blue underwear. As soon as she clues into what is happening, her hands come up to cover herself, even though she realistically knows that there is no more on show than there was before, but the dress worked as a kind of comfort blanket.
Lena catches her wrists behind her with a sharp 'Ah ah, be a good girl and let everyone see how pretty you are.”  Her cheeks have a permanent tinge at this point, which only grows when she becomes aware that she has dozens of people taking in the scene, including the woman from earlier, Andrea.
Kara didn't even know that the spanking scene had ended until the dom was pulling the leather cuffs from their sub's wrists and offering them to Lena with a nonchalant shrug. “We won't be needing these for the rest of the night if you want to borrow them?”
“Thank you, we appreciate it, don't we little bird?”
“Yes.” Kara has no choice but to agree, a slave to her growing arousal.
“Cool, just leave them at the front desk before you leave.” Lena nods her understanding before taking the cuffs instructing Kara to keep her hands behind her back. She buckles them in place firmly before snapping them together with a click.
Lena's thigh once again makes its way between Kara's own quivering thighs as she tests her bonds. She is well and truly at Lena's mercy now and she wants nothing more than to cover her face with her hands out of shame as she sees the shine on Lena's leather pants from where her arousal has travelled through her panties, which makes her well aware that everyone in the club can see how wet she is.
“You're so sexy like this. Cuffed and needy, such a good girl.”
Lena can't believe her luck, she thought it would take more to get Kara to accept her submissive side but here is, cuffed, exposed and dripping. All for her.
“I think it's time we go check out the private rooms pretty girl. What do you think?” An eager nod encourages Lena to lead Kara by her arm right to the front desk, where she rents a room and receives a key with a smirk and a sly, “Have fun.”
Lena locks the door behind them once they enter their room. It is all red and black. There is a huge four poster bed in the centre and dotted around the room is shelves and racks filled with all sorts of toys, crops and bondage gear. There is also a huge X on the wall with eyelets, clearly meant for attaching cuffs to and a spanking bench. Furthermore, there is more furniture throughout the room and the blonde can only begin the imagine what can be done with it. The ceiling is completely mirrored, and it gives them both some incredibly filthy thoughts.
Lena stands behind the other girl and watches as she takes in the room before placing a hand on her back and leading her towards the bed.
“Bend over.”
The demand is accompanied by a harsh shove, forcing her into the sheets face first.
“L-Lena?”
“Hmm?”
“Please.” It's not what the brunette is expecting but it makes her heart soar with a thousand symphonies.
“Just be my good girl and take what I'm going to give you.”
The needy one quivers into the sheets, going boneless, opening her legs and thrusting her hips back.
“Who'd have thought? The almighty Supergirl is really nothing more than a little quivering submissive for a Luthor.” Lena runs her hand up and down Kara's back for a moment before slapping her hand down onto her right butt cheek then quickly repeating the action on the other side.
Each spank is greeted with a moan.
“I'm going to give you an out here pretty girl, just say the word and we will leave, right here and now.” Lena takes her hands from Kara and takes a step back, giving her room to breathe but she doesn't have to wait long for a response.
“No, I want this. Please don't stop!” Her words come out stronger than she expected and, but she doesn't think that she has ever sounded so desperate.
“New system then, I’ll want periodic check ins. When I ask you for a colour, I want to hear green if you like what we are doing and want to continue, orange if you need to slow down and red for a complete stop. Understood?”
“Yes! Yes, please, I understand.”
“Good girl.”
The cuffs are unclipped from each other, and Kara finds herself shooed up the bed and directed to lay down on her front with her arms out. Before she knows it, her arms have been cuffed to the corners of the bed and a pillow has been shoved beneath her hips.
“You have no idea what you have gotten yourself into...foolish little girl.”
Kara's breath comes out in short sporadic bursts as she pulls against the bonds on her wrists gently as though she is scared that if she pulls too hard then they will break.
The bracelet on her left arm is keeping her powers at bay securely, keeping her helpless.
Lena's fingers are running the length of her back, circling each ridge of her spine and tickling her sides. “I'm going to make you feel things you have never felt before.”
“Rao, I hope so.” The response makes Lena's knees weak and she's certain that her ego has never been stoked so much in such a short amount of time.
Lena doesn't dignify her with a response, just simply straddles her. She takes hold of Kara's nether cheeks and grips them tightly, watching as the flesh bulges between her fingers before releasing and offering twin pats on either side. She rubs them softly and pats again, just letting the bottom get used to the feeling.
“Tell me little girl, have you ever been spanked before?” She continues to rub and pat in a controlled manner as she talks.
“N-no.”
“I think you meant to say no Daddy” The pats turn sharp and are starting to cause the whiny one to gasp and moan. “Or Mistress, whichever you prefer.”
“I'm sorry Daddy.” She falls right into character; all hesitation has gone, and she is truly just Daddy's girl. Her cheeks are beginning to sting but she can't help but push back into the hands of the other woman.
“Good choice Little One, it's the only one you'll get tonight.” Lena smirks as she looks down on the little brat trying to wriggle closer. “You're mine now Baby Girl.”
She brings her hand down harder. The slap rings out into the room and Kara cries out loudly. It makes Lena grin widely as she stands and moves away from the blonde. She tries to follow Lena with her eyes, but her position makes it near impossible.
“There is so much I want to do to you but so little time.” She sighs. “I guess we'll just have to skip the warmups and head right into the main event.”
Kara listens closely as she hears Lena shifting around somewhere behind her. Oh, what she wouldn't give to have her super-hearing back right now. A minute passes and then two. She shifts uncomfortably, her arousal has soaked through her panties at this point and her inner thighs are shimmering with wetness. The very thought makes her want to curl up in a ball and question whether or not this is a good idea.
Lena can sense Kara's discomfort from a mile away. After so many years of friendship, it comes naturally at this point. “How about I help quiet your mind and give you something to focus on, hmm?”
Kara feels Lena's presence behind her and manages to catch a quick glance at alabaster skin before her sight is taken away by a soft, silk blindfold. Knowing that Lena is near helps to soothe her and she finds herself starting to relax again. The next thing she feels is Lena once again straddling her legs and hands returning to her now sore bottom.
“I'm going to get your pretty little ass ready for me to fuck later.”
It takes Kara's breath away. She has never had anything up there before, it has always felt too naughty. Forbidden.
“Don't worry about a thing, just let Daddy take care of you.”
Her cheeks are gripped and spread. A thick glob of lube is dripped down her crack, where a finger scoops it up and directs it to her back hole, spreading and prodding.
“Colour?”
“Green.”
Her hips buck back slightly as the finger pushes inside her tight ring of muscle as she lets out a moan that turns into a whimper as the finger retreats. It doesn't take long before it slides back inside and it takes less than a minute of gentle stretching before the first finger is joined by a second, filling her deliciously.
“Please...daddy.” All she wants is to be filled and her clit is aching with the need to be touched.
“What do you want Princess?” The name makes her cringe, it makes her feel like a whiny little brat.
“I-I need-” The fingers inside of her scissor and pull out, only to be replaced by something cool and firm. “My clit...please!”
She can practically hear Lena's smile as her clit is suddenly caught between a finger and a thumb and is being pinched and rolled harshly. It distracts her enough that she doesn't try and fight against the steel plug pushing into her bottom until it's too late and her ring has settled around the flare.
She cries out as her muscles tighten and throb against the plug, unsure of how to react to the foreign intrusion.
She hears her Daddy tut as she bears down against it, so she quickly rectifies her behaviour and just takes it like a good girl.
“This little guy is going to get you nice and ready for me to truly fuck your ass later, although I have yet to decide if you deserve to cum today. Not being bad doesn't make you a good girl; I require my little pets to be outstanding.” Lena presses against the blue gem between Kara's cheeks firmly, shifting the weight of it inside of her as it moves.
“N-no please, please Daddy, I need to cum, please!” The words fall out of her mouth before she can ever register what she is saying.
She is hushed sharply, and the weight disappears from her legs. She listens as quick footsteps move to the other side of the room and then move right back towards her. They stop a close by and she can hear some rustling and snapping before she feels her wrists being set free. She doesn't get a chance to even lower her arms before she is being pushed onto her back harshly and clipped right back into place with her arms still above her head and the pillow that was once under her hips has been discarded.
Her legs are roughly spread and the bed dips between her legs as Lena crawls up. “Are you going to be a good girl for me?” Kara's nipples are suddenly assaulted with a warm mouth and sharp teeth.
“Yes Daddy, I promise.” She whines as she cants her hips up blindly. She expects to feel soft skin but instead gets poked by something long and sturdy. “Oh!”
“I see you've found your surprise Little Bird.” Lena's certain that her cheeks will be sore tomorrow from how much she has smiled because of the blonde and her adorable reactions. “Are you ready for it Baby?”
“Yes, Daddy.” Her breathing is laboured, and she can't stop wriggling.
Lena pushes her hips forward slowly, locating Kara's dripping hole and dipping inside gently with slow, shallow strokes. With each one, the plug inside her ass is jolted ever so slightly, bringing her more pleasure than she has ever felt.
“Oh Rao...Miss...” Kara pants out as the thrusts deepen.
“That's it, take it like a good girl.” Lena works the last inch inside of Kara carefully, thoroughly enjoying every second of stuffing the object of her desire. Both women gasp appreciatively as their hips join and the strap on sits firmly inside of Kara. “You're not gonna be able to feel your legs when I'm through with you.”
Lena is determined to make that the truth. She begins to steadily turn her measured thrusts into a full force hammering, her skin slapping against the kryptonian's rhythmically. Kara lets out a high-pitched moan every time Lena hits that sensitive little spot inside of her.
“Oh Rao! Oh Gods...”
“Are you close Darling?”
“Yes! So close!” Lena grabs her by the base of her throat, pins her back into the sheets and growls.
“Don't you dare cum without permission!” The thrusts never let up and the hand on her throat only serves to build her up higher.
“Please! I need to-”
“No! Be a good girl. Be my good girl.” Lena knows exactly what she is doing, she wants to possess every fibre of Kara's being, to strip her down and build her up higher than she has ever been before. Simultaneously give her nothing and everything.
The brunette watches as the girl beneath her writhes as she attempts to fight her incoming orgasm and pinches her nipples sharply with one hand before letting the hand on her throat trace down her body until she reaches her clit, which she assaults with harsh rubs and flicks.
“Daddy! I-I can't!”
“Don't you dare!”
It's too late. Kara has no choice but to give in to the tidal wave that her orgasm is. Her vision goes white beneath the blindfold and every muscle in her body relaxes all at once, her toes finally uncurling.
As she once again becomes aware of her body, she realizes that she is no longer being filled and her body has cooled as Lena is no longer atop of her.
“Lena?” She shakily asks afraid that she has gone and left her tied up like this. She knows that she must have disappointed her by not following her orders, but she can't be that angry that she left her there all alone with no way to untie herself.
The only sound is her own heartbeat.
“L-Lena? Lena please, I'm sorry! I-I didn't mean to.” She can't help it; her emotions are overwhelming her and she can already feel the tears welling up behind her blindfold.
She lets out a sob right before she feels stinging heat on her right thigh.
“You came without permission, and you have three infractions of calling me by the wrong name. That's a lot of punishments you have accrued Little One. What are you willing to do to make it up to me?” Kara is so relieved to hear Lena's voice that it takes a few moments for her to register what the dominant woman is saying but once she does, she is quick to responds.
“Please, I'll do anything, I'm sorry.”
“I'll hold you to that.” Lena slaps her thigh again sharply before loudly placing several items down on the table by the bed. “After all, cumming without permission is something that only a slut would do. Are you a slut Kara?”
“I-” Her mouth opens and closes as she tries to find the right words, but she is unable.
“I will take that as a yes. And thus, we shall start your punishment with a little something that I'm sure you will enjoy because you are such a slut.”
Lena is precise with her movements as she unclips Kara's wrists from the bed and pulls her up just to drag her across the room and push her back down over the spanking bench. Kara flails slightly but doesn't resist as her wrists are once again clipped in place, this time on the little loops on the sides of the bench. Her ankles are also strapped in place at the base of the bench, keeping her spread wide enough to keep her vulnerable and needy.
“Are you ready to see what I have in store for you?”
A timid nod is all it takes for Lena to rip the blindfold off and grip the back of Kara's head, giving the girl no choice but to look where directed.
In front of the blonde's face stands Lena, strap-on standing proudly from her hips and still covered in her juices.
“You have some cleaning to do.” Kara stares at the glistening cock in front of her face before flickering her eyes up to meet Lena's own emerald orbs. “I don't have all day, get to it.”
“Yes, Daddy”
Without further ado, Kara leans forward as much as possible within her restraints and licks the broad head of the glistening cock. Lena watches her intently as she sucks on the bulbous head before pulling it out of her mouth and using it to slap the other woman across the face.
“You look beautiful like this, but I think I can make you even prettier, baby girl.”
Kara frowns as the dildo is pulled away from her lips and Lena steps away to somewhere behind her. She listens for Lena’s footsteps and finds them quickly pattering toward her. It relaxes her in a way, the steps show her how excited Lena is to be with her again, how much she is enjoying what they are doing as much as she is. It makes her heart soar…and her pussy ache.
She flinches as cold fingers touch her back. The tips start right above her ass and about halfway up her back Lena switches to her nails, running them up gently before striking them back down, eliciting a gasp as red marks appear down the previously blank canvas of Kara’s back.
Kara doesn’t remember closing her eyes but when she opens them, she is simultaneously shocked and aroused to see nipple clamps and a chain dangling in front of her face.
“Your nipples will look delicious with a little bit of bling, don’t you think?”
Kara simply starts at her wide eyed and dripping.
“I need a yes or a no darling.” Lena lowers her hand and dips closer to Kara worriedly when she doesn’t immediately get a response.
“Oh, fuck yes.”
Lena’s worried expression quickly disappears as she gets to work preparing Kara’s nipples for the clamps. She takes hold of a nipple with a pinch from each hand, flicking a rolling them. She revels in the gasps and moans she pulls from the helpless woman. “Just you wait baby girl, I’m going to clamp your tits and chain them up, so I have something nice and pretty to hold onto when I go back to fucking your mouth, and don’t worry pretty girl, this time I’ll let you have all of it.”
Kara has never been so aroused in all her life, her nipples are aching deliciously and the feeling of being held immobile, having no choice but to stay put, is something that she didn’t even know that she needed in her life. Despite being physically trapped, she is free.
“Take a deep breath for me princess.”
Kara takes in the breath just for it to be knocked right out of her again as the clamps take hold of her nipples tightly. “Holy fuck.”
“There is nothing holy about this…” Lena attaches each end of the chain to the clamps and takes a firm hold of it, tugging slightly. “Unless you’re into that, I guess. Open up for the body of Christ.” Lena begins to guide the dildo back to Kara’s face, but she just glares back at her unamused.
Lena giggles as she takes in Kara’s expression.
“I’m just kidding little bird, this cock is all mine, no men involved.”
Kara’s desire for the brutal face fucking she craves much outweighs her petty need to get back at Lena, so she opens her mouth and leans forward as much as her restraints let her.
Lena meets her halfway, roughly thrusting the cock between her lips. Kara can still taste herself on it, although she is a little disappointed that it isn’t as fresh as it was before but the sting in her nipples each time Lena pulls on her chain is enough to keep her happy.
“Take it Kara, I want it all in there, clean every last inch of it for me.”
Kara bobs her head in time with Lena’s shallow thrusts. Taking a couple of inches to start with and then slowly taking it deeper. She chokes as it hits the back of her throat, but Lena doesn’t let up, she doubles down, stepping closer and gripping her hair tightly in one first whilst the other pulls on her nipple chain in time with her thrusts.
“Don’t give up on me now baby, I want every inch in that pretty little mouth.”
Inspired by her Daddy’s words she fights her reflexes and swallows the dick the best she can and with Lena’s help she slowly but surely deepthoats every last bit. Once it’s all in Lena slows her thrusts, pausing for a second each time her pelvis hit’s Kara’s face, signifying that she is truly face fucking the sexiest woman alive.
Lena pulls it out and wipes her spit covered strap across Kara’s face. “That’s it, good girl.”
She thrusts back in, revelling in the feeling of the strap pressing into her clit with each thrust. If it were only a little bit stronger then she has no doubts that she would be able to cum from this alone.
She has always thought that Kara is beautiful but seeing her now, cuffed, nipples clamped, ass filled, and messy faced from sucking her cock, she has never looked more gorgeous.
“I could do this all night.”
Kara pulls back off the dildo. “How long do we have the room.”
“Fuck, we better get a move onto the main course.” Lena steps back, petting Kara’s hair gently, a stark difference form the way she was just grabbing it. “But don’t worry that pretty little head of yours princess, we’ll be back again soon to make you a centrepiece on the wall over there.” She nods to the ‘X’ frame.
Lena walks behind Kara and grasps her ass cheeks firmly, “after all that time sucking my dick, your ass should be ready for me now little slut.”
“Yes Daddy, please fuck my ass.”
Kara is dripping onto the floor at this point, she has never been so satisfied with someone before and she hasn’t even come yet.
“Please, I need you so bad.”
Lena doesn’t wait a single second before she adds some of Kara’s dripping arousal to lube up the dildo some more and eases the plug out. She replaces it quickly with the thick head as she spreads apart the cheeks before her, giving herself a good view of what’s to come for the pretty creature before her, already way out of her depth.
She presses forward, slowly filling her up.
“Oh…OH… Daddy, you feel even bigger this way.” Lena spanks her ass as she bottoms out.
“Oh yeah, you like that dirty girl? You like the way I fill you up so deep?”
Lena slowly builds up her thrusts, starting with a slow, shallow shift of her hips and ending with her hips slapping harshly against the skin of Kara’s ass. She has one hand gripping the space between her shoulder and neck, and the other on her hip, pulling her back into each of her thrusts as much as her restraints allow her.
“FUCK! Miss please! I need to cum please. Please let me.” Kara is practically sobbing at this point. She is ruined. Her nipples are sore from the chain swinging with each thrust, her ass aches from the constant slap of Lena’s hips and now that she knows what this feels like, she never wants to leave this room again.
“You want to cum pretty girl?” When she doesn’t get an immediate response, she gives her a particularly hard thrust as she reaches around and slaps her pussy hard. “I asked you a question.”
“Yes! Yes, please! Please Miss!” Lena slows her thrusts slightly as she finds Kara’s clit, rubbing it harshly.
For Kara it was all she needed, she has been on the edge since she walked into this God-forsaken place but fuck if it doesn’t feel good.
“C-can I? Please?”
Lena doesn’t reply for a few seconds, content to make her wait.
“Cum for me baby, cum around my cock in your ass.” And she does.
Lena continues fucking her gently, leaned over her and leaving marks across her shoulder blades as she helps Kara to ride out the waves of the greatest orgasm of her life.
She keeps thrusting gently until Kara is completely boneless on the bench. She pulls out with one last kiss to the back of her neck. “Come on my good girl, let’s get you all cleaned up.”
Kara is completely out of it, drowning in the complete and utter ecstasy that Daddy had bestowed upon her in the most animalistic way she knows how.
Lena methodically undoes all of the restraints and whispers reassurances to the blonde as she whimpers when it’s time for the clamps to come off.  She carefully massages the ache away and manoeuvres them to the bed as she tries to rub away the marks left by the cuffs. “You did such a good job darling.”
Kara nuzzles in closer, tucking her head into Lena’s neck and gripping her tightly as she begins to take in her surroundings again.
Lena cards her fingers through Kara’s hair, untangling it in places and wincing at the particulary bad knots, knowing that she is the cause. “How are you feeling?”
“Ask me again when I can actually feel my legs.” Kara smiles as she looks up at the brunette.
“That good, huh?” She swoons as Kara blushes and looks away cutely.
“Did you…? You know…finish?” Kara asks shyly.
“This wasn’t about me Kara, today was about you.” Kara’s face drops.
“I can…if you want me to…”
“You don’t need to if you don’t feel up to it Kara, seeing you stretched around my cock was more than enough for me, in fact it’s preferred.”
“And if I am feeling up to it?” She asks with a smirk.
Lena evaluates her briefly. “Colour?”
“Green.”
She grasps blonde hair into her hand tightly. “We’re going to do this my way then princess. You’re going to do exactly what I say, when I say or else, we’ll have to give a few of those paddles a try next time we come here.”
“Yes, Miss” Kara smiles happily at Lena as she guides her down the bed until she is between her spread legs.
Lena holds her head away from her pelvis for a few long seconds. “Ask permission before you touch, puppy.”
“Please can I touch you, Miss? I need to taste you.” The sincerity of the words shakes Lena to the core. Kara has made her feel a great deal of emotions, but she has never felt as needed as she does right now; as desired as she does right now.
In lieu of an answer she directs Kara’s face to her dripping cunt, “Lick it.”
Kara sticks out her tongue and runs it gently through her Daddy’s folds, she slurps up as much of the dripping mess she can get into her mouth, moaning at the delicious taste. “Mmm Daddy, you taste so good.”
“Damn right, now less talking and more licking. There are better things for that mouth to be doing.”
 “Yes Ma’am.” She dives right back in, this time hungrily sucking her clit before dipping down to shove her tongue into her tight hole, licking deep inside her. Lena clutches at her hair, dragging her head up to her clit and then down again, directing her every movement.
Kara snakes her hand up Lena’s thigh, getting ready to add her fingers into the mix but her hand is caught before she makes it. “Ah, ah. Mouth only my dirty little slut. It might take a little longer, but you’ll be getting a lot more practice in these upcoming days, mark my words.”
Kara gives up complete control, helplessly following the brunette’s every movement and continues to lick and suck as demanded, no matter how sore her jaw gets or how tired her tongue has become.
“Stick out your tongue.”
Lena brings her second hand away from where she was grasping the sheets and instead brings it to join its partner on the back of Kara’s head. She holds her still and instead begins to gyrate her hips onto her tongue, thrusting into her face with increasing intensity.
“Fuuckkk, take it. Take it for me.” Kara’s face is completely drenched as Lena uses her for her own pleasure and she loves it. “Be a good slut and take everything I give you.”
The movement of her hips becomes choppier as she gets closer. By the time she is on the brink of insanity she is simply grinding down into the beautiful face of a helpless hero.
She cums harder than she ever has before, and she has no doubts that it stems from the depravity of defiling National City’s sweetheart.
She lies back breathless as she pats the head resting on her pelvis and looks down at the other woman. “I can’t tell you how hot you look covered in my cum.”
Kara raises her head and blushes scarlet.
“Don’t tell me you’re still shy about being a little bottom after everything we’ve just done princess.”
That at least makes her giggle as she clambers up next to Lena, who rolls onto her side lazily to look into cerulean eyes.
“You have truly been wonderful tonight darling, there is nobody else I could ever have wanted to be here with me.”
“Same here, I’ve had a really good time.” Kara smiles so wide that it makes her eyes crinkle up which has a domino effect that makes Lena beam right back at her.
“So, here is what is going to happen now. We are going to stay here for a couple of minutes until we catch our breaths and then go and use the washroom to clean up and then from there, we can get you back to my place to finish up our snuggles and give you all the attention you need. As much as I wish we could do that here, we just don’t have enough time.”
Lena takes Kara’s hand and pulls her closer for an impromptu cuddle. They lie there entwined until Lena is certain that if they were to stay any longer, they would fall asleep.
Once again Lena takes charge, but this time in a different way. Now she has turned on her protector mode so she is perfectly efficient in assisting Kara to the washroom, cleaning them both up and getting herself dressed again before helping Kara with her clothes, despite her insistence that she didn’t need any help.
“I’ve got you, let me take care of you for a little while.”
 That drags out another blush from Kara, but she happily relinquishes her control and let’s Lena help her before tucking herself in close to Lena as they make their way back out into the hallway and to the front desk, where Lena promptly drops the cuffs with a wink as she wraps her arm around Kara’s waist.
It isn’t until they make it out into the crisp night air and as she watches Lena try to hail a cab that she realizes that they never fulfilled any of the mission. “Shit, Lena!”
Lena rushes back over to her, fear written blatantly across her face. “What’s wrong? Are you alright?”
“We never did the mission, we didn’t get Roulette’s real name!”
“Oh, that…”
Kara is greeted with the guilty face of a Luthor. “Why the face? You do realize that Alex is going to actually murder us, right?”
“Actually…I might already know her name…” Lena mumbles, looking away.
Kara takes in the sheepish woman before her and can’t take it anymore. She begins to laugh, hard.
“Of course, you do.” She forces out between laughs.
At Kara’s laughing Lena also joins in.
“Alright come on, let’s go get flag one of these taxis down so we ca get back to snuggles and I will tell you everything I know about Roulette and how I may have sort of slept with her back when we were in boarding school together. Back then she was simply just Veronica Sinclair, but she always did have a flair for the dramatics.”
“You want to talk about another woman after we just did that?” Kara raises her eyebrow at Lena.
“I retract my last statement.”
They finally manage to get a cab and give the driver directions back to Lena’s penthouse and Lena tucks Kara back into her side as she guides her inside and to the bedroom, stripping them of their clothes and tucking the blonde into bed.
“I’m getting you some chocolate and some water then we are going to snuggle until you fall asleep, how does that sound?”
“Great, as long as you promise that we can do tonight all over again in the near future.”
Lena leans down and pecks her on the lips before leaning into her ear and whispering, “As if anything could ever keep me from fucking that delicious ass again.”
I'm actually really surprised that the supergirl writers didn't steal from a Charmed episode and have an episode where there was someone killing people in their dreams. Or maybe instead of killing people, he somehow traps their minds in their own nightmares and uses their bodies to do bad things.
Of course Nia would be the only one who could stop the bad guy, obvs, but I also had an intense desire to set this idea in the Sister, Sister verse, so maybe when the guy sets his sights on the superfriends, they're just like, okay we won't sleep then.
And everyone thinks Lena is most equipped to deal with the lack of sleep, so they don't really worry about her, until one evening Nia goes to Lena's apartment passed out on the floor, having hit her head on the way down.
They bring Lena back to the Tower medbay, but because she's fallen asleep, Lena's now compromised, so they have to restrain her. Except when she wakes up she seems totally herself, if a little panicked to be strapped down. Most people who are targeted by the bad guy are zombies from the moment they wake up, so Lena is so normal that they're kind of taken aback, and ultimately determine that maybe her magic protected her, question mark?
So they release her, and Lena gets back to work. Until Nia makes a discovery on a potential strategy and turns to find Lena behind her with a knife.
They fight, and once Lena is subdued, Nia dives into her friend's nightmare that she's trapped in, where Lex has her strapped to an operating table and is ready to pick her apart like a specimen. Nia is horrified, but understands that it's a manifestation of Lena's old fears, and tries to get through to her. Because maybe it'll be like the Black Mercy-- if Lena can reject the nightmare, maybe it will end.
It takes some effort. At first Lena can't even see her, and Lena's raw and palpable fear makes Nia's heart pound in her chest like the fear is her own. But little by little she gets through to Lena, and when Lena believes Nia, the straps release her and Nia can help Lena slide off the table. But they're still in a lab, with no visible doors.
How do they get out?
Then they hear Lex start clapping, and as they watch Lex's face melts away to reveal their true villain. Lena grips Nia's hand tight, and Nia can taste her friend's renewed fear. Lena can feel how her mind has been violated, her body made not her own. But Nia can also feel that old Luthor fight in her.
The bad guy monologues about how he couldn't tip his hand with Lena too early, before he fully had his claws in her, not when Lena had such power at her disposal. With Lena, he gloats, he could do anything he wanted.
"I don't think so," Nia says, lashing out with a bolt of dream energy. But the guy deflects with a magical field.
Nia looks to Lena. "Was that his power of yours?"
Lena swallows thickly. "Mine. I-- I'm sorry, I can't--"
"It's okay," Nia promises. "I got this."
And she does. But as she fights the villain, it becomes apparent that the magic he siphons from Lena is finite-- Lena visibly weakens as the fight progresses, and Nia falters.
"The more we fight," he taunts, "the more I drain from her. Kill me, and she goes with me."
But before Nia has the chance to face an impossible decision to choose one or the many, Lena grabs a scalpel from one of the trays amd slits his throat.
"Fuck you," she grunts, before she staggers.
Nia catches her, tearfully asking why she did that.
"Spite, mostly," Lena rasps, prompting a tearful laugh from Nia. She squeezes Nia's hand. "And because I couldn't bear it if he used my power to hurt you."
"Lena..."
"I'm sorry I blamed you for keeping Kara's secret. It should never have been your burden to carry..."
"Lena, stop--"
By now Lena is visibly fading, her life force bleeding away as Nia cradles her close.
"Thank you, Nia," she whispers. "For-- for everything."
It's the last thing she says as her eyes flutter shut. In growing panic, Nia shakes her head in defiance. "No," she declares. "Not like this."
She reaches out to where the villain is similarly starting to dissipate, and uses her dream energy to corral the sense of Lena that's bleeding from him. She gathers all she can, then compresses it into a ball of glowing light, an energy that's warm, and gentle, and familiar.
Using her power, she returns the energy to Lena, directing it to settle squarely in Lena's fading chest. It takes a moment, but then the orb of energy pulses, and the light spreads through Lena, bringing her back to opacity.
Lena's eyes open once more, her chest rising with a deep, full breath. Nia gasps in relief, and hugs Lena to her chest.
"Don't you ever do that again."
When they return to the waking world, everything seems to return to normal. Except for one thing that doesn't make the trip back with them.
Lena no longer has her magic.
so I was rewatching an episode of season 4 recently and I realized, when exactly does Nia learn Brainy's name? He definitely learns hers when they first meet, but for her learning his, I'm not certain. (although since Brainy really has 3 different names, she could've learned them in 3 different conversations? Like she learns 'Brainy' early on, maybe Kara tells her, and then he reveals 'Querl Dox' to her sometime in the middle of the season, and 'Brainiac 5' comes after the season finale ordeal.)
Ok so this got me thinking!
So, from 4x05, we definitely know Nia learns the name 'Brainy' first. Lena offhandedly mentions Brainy while he's off screen and Nia doesn't react to it until he appears a little later in the scene, although I do like the idea that Kara might have mentioned Brainy in casual conversation before then to Nia, but she just doesn't put two and two together until she sees him again.
I have headcanons for so many interactions that might happen between scenes or episodes for these two characters, so I like to think that maybe when Nia's training with Brainy or just hanging out in general that they have a conversation about it. I feel like it'd be easy to work in Nia learning both of Brainy's other names more or less in the same conversation. She might ask him whether Brainy is a nickname and he might then explain that it's actually shortened from 'Brainiac 5' which could then lead on to him explaining that his actual name is 'Querl Dox'. Or alternatively, maybe she hears him referred to as 'Agent Dox' which prompts the conversation.
Certainly lots of possibilities 🤔🤔
