HYDRAFACIAL VS. TRADITIONAL FACIALS: WHICH IS BETTER FOR YOU?
Tumblr media
No matter how young or old you are, getting a facial is a wonderful way to stay on top of skin issues while keeping your skin looking refreshed and glowing.
 Facials provide a more youthful and hydrated complexion. But many of the fans of facials today are confused after getting introduced to a newly popular member of the facial family – Hydrafacial.
Hydrafacial is giving traditional facials a lot of competition and has become popular at a rapid pace. But is it really worth the hype?
Choosing the best type of facials that best suits you can be challenging. And the biggest question floating in everyone’s mind is, “Which is better, Facial or Hydrafacial?”
 If you are thinking of the same, this blog is for you. Scroll ahead to explore all about regular facials and Hydrafacial, their benefits, and their biggest differences so you can decide which one is better for you.
What is Hydrafacial?
Hydrafacial is a result-driven facial treatment that combines the benefits of the latest technology. It is a type of advanced skin treatment known as hydra dermabrasion and uses various microdermabrasions consisting of skin exfoliation and hydration with serums. The treatment works by removing all the makeup, oil, and dirt from the deepest layer of the skin.
How does Hydrafacial work?
Hydrafacial is generally a three-step treatment. First, the trained aesthetician or dermatologist cleanses your skin and exfoliates it, followed by gentle chemical peeling.
Once the pores are clear, the aesthetician infuses hydrating serums into your skin to make your skin glowing, hydrated, and protected.
Lastly, the advanced device is used to replenish your face with rejuvenating methods. This involves the addition of protective serums that will protect your pores from attracting dirt and other impurities after the procedure.
Hydrafacial provides instantaneous and long-term results in comparison to regular facials.
 Moreover, Hydrafacial helps address various skincare issues, such as:
Elasticity + Firmness
Brown spots and even tone
Skin texture
Acne
Fine lines and wrinkles
Large Pores
Rosacea and sensitive skin
An oily and congested skin

Can't Choose Between Concealers? Color-Correcting Concealer vs Liquid Concealer
Concealer is a beauty tool that is typically matched to the color of one's skin to cover blemishes and dark circles under the eyes. Some use a concealer that is one or two shades lighter than their skin color to create a brightening effect. There is also an additional type of concealer that is created in different colors to conceal different skin issues. Today, we are going to go over the differences between a typical liquid concealer and a color-correcting concealer.
Color-Correcting Concealers
Pros: Using the color wheel theory, green concealer cancels out the red undertones from acne and rosacea. Purples minimize yellow spots while orange concealers cancel out the blue in dark circles under the eyes. Color-correcting concealers work best for uneven skin tones and severe skin discoloration.
Cons: This type of concealer cannot be used alone for a full-coverage makeup look since each color can only be used to cover their opposite color on the color wheel. So acquiring multiple colors can get pricey and for those with minimal discoloration, it may not be needed.
ELF Cosmetics' Camo Color Corrector is an affordable vegan and cruelty free option!
Liquid Concealer
Pros: Liquid concealers brighten one's skin complexion while minimizing skin discoloration. Its radiant finish makes it suitable for most skin types. The lightweight formula is very breathable and buildable!
Cons: For those with severe skin discoloration and/or acne, liquid concealer might not provide enough coverage to cancel out specific undertones. Applying multiple layers to counteract undertones that vary from one's overall skin tone can leave the skin looking 'cakey' and heavily textured.
Rare Beauty's Liquid Touch Brightening Concealer is my personal favorite liquid concealer. It is lightweight and very hydrating!

IPL vs Microneedling: Exploring the World of Skin Rejuvenation Section 1: Introduction IPL vs Microneedling: What Are They? What is IPL? Intense Pulsed Light, abbreviated as IPL, represents a revolutionary non-ablative laser treatment that employs broad-spectrum light to target various skin issues, including unwanted pigmentation, hair, and blood vessels. The versatility of IPL extends to treating age spots, rosacea, acne scars, stretch marks, and even varicose veins. This treatment harnesses the power of light to rejuvenate your skin's vitality. What is Microneedling? Microneedling, on the other hand, is a minimally invasive procedure that employs tiny needles to create micro-channels in the skin. This ingenious technique not only facilitates the deeper penetration of topical products but also stimulates collagen production. Microneedling finds its efficacy in treating diverse skin conditions, such as acne scars, fine lines, wrinkles, and hyperpigmentation. Section 2: The Differences Between IPL and Microneedling IPL vs Microneedling: What Are the Differences? The Mechanism of Action IPL operates by emitting a spectrum of light that is eagerly absorbed by skin pigments and melanin. As these pigments absorb the light, they heat up and eventually break down. Microneedling, in contrast, functions through the creation of micro-channels in the skin. These channels not only enable the penetration of topical products but also encourage the skin's natural collagen production. The Benefits of Each Treatment While IPL offers a broader spectrum of treatment options, encompassing a wider range of skin conditions compared to microneedling, the latter often takes the lead in effectively treating acne scars. IPL scores with its less invasive nature, yet microneedling gains ground in terms of frequency—allowing for more frequent sessions. The Risks of Each Treatment IPL treatments might come with side effects like transient redness, swelling, and bruising. In contrast, microneedling could entail the risk of bleeding, scabbing, and infection, given its more invasive nature. Section 3: Which Treatment Is Right for You? IPL vs Microneedling: Which Treatment Is Right for You? Factors to Consider Several factors play into your choice of treatment: the severity of your skin condition, your skin type, your budget, and your lifestyle. How to Choose the Right Treatment for You In making this important decision, consulting with a dermatologist or medical professional is paramount. They can expertly guide you through your options, considering your skin's unique needs and your desired outcomes. Section 4: The Cost of IPL and Microneedling IPL vs Microneedling: What Are the Costs? The Cost of IPL IPL's cost varies according to the treatment area and the severity of the skin condition. Generally, IPL tends to be pricier compared to microneedling. The Cost of Microneedling Conversely, microneedling's cost fluctuates based on the treatment area and the extent of the skin condition. Microneedling generally emerges as the more cost-effective option when compared to IPL. Section 5: The Recovery Time for IPL and Microneedling IPL vs Microneedling: What Is the Recovery Time? The Recovery Time for IPL Expect a comparatively shorter recovery time with IPL, typically involving temporary redness, swelling, and bruising that should subside within days. The Recovery Time for Microneedling Microneedling, however, entails a longer recovery period. You might experience bleeding, scabbing, and infection risk. Full skin healing can take several weeks. As we delve into the realm of IPL and microneedling, their nuances and differences come to light. But this is just the beginning; the next section will further explore the intricacies of these treatments. Keep reading to uncover more about these skin-transforming options. Unveiling the Distinctive Facets: IPL vs Microneedling Section 2: The Differences Between IPL and Microneedling IPL vs Microneedling: What Are the Differences?
When it comes to revitalizing your skin, the options seem endless. IPL and microneedling stand as two prominent contenders, each with its own unique approach and set of benefits. Delving into the realm of their differences will shed light on which treatment might align best with your skin rejuvenation goals. The Mechanism of Action At the core of IPL lies its utilization of broad-spectrum light, an innovative concept that is absorbed by skin pigments, most notably melanin. This absorption prompts pigments to undergo a transformative journey, as they gradually heat up and subsequently break down. Microneedling, however, ventures down a different path. This procedure involves the creation of minute micro-channels within the skin, unlocking a gateway for topical products to venture deeper and activate collagen production. As you contemplate your treatment choice, understanding these contrasting mechanisms can guide your decision. The Benefits of Each Treatment The battle of benefits between IPL and microneedling unfolds as a nuanced tale of versatility and specificity. IPL demonstrates its prowess by addressing an expansive array of skin conditions, casting its efficacy net over age spots, rosacea, acne scars, stretch marks, and even varicose veins. Meanwhile, microneedling excels in the realm of acne scar treatment, offering a more focused approach to this particular concern. As you sift through these contrasting strengths, you will find that each treatment boasts its own unique set of advantages. The Risks of Each Treatment Within every transformative journey lies a degree of risk. IPL treatments carry the potential of side effects such as temporary redness, swelling, and bruising—a fleeting storm that paves the way for rejuvenation. Conversely, the path of microneedling, while promising, can sometimes be accompanied by side effects like bleeding, scabbing, and infection. This juncture demands careful consideration of the risks inherent to each treatment, as well as an evaluation of your personal tolerance. As you navigate the intricate landscape of IPL and microneedling, the distinctions between their mechanisms, benefits, and potential risks come into focus. The ensuing section will delve into the pivotal question of which treatment aligns with your individual needs. Your journey toward radiant skin continues—read on to explore the factors that will guide your ultimate decision. Section 3: Which Treatment Is Right for You? Whether it's addressing age spots, fine lines, or acne scars, each treatment has its niche. Your Skin Type: Different skin types respond uniquely to various treatments. Your dermatologist can guide you based on your skin's specific characteristics. Your Budget: Financial considerations are essential. While IPL may come with a higher price tag, microneedling could offer a more cost-effective alternative. Your Lifestyle: Your daily routine, commitments, and the frequency of visits can influence your choice. Consider the downtime required for recovery after each session. How to Choose the Right Treatment for You Navigating the sea of options might feel daunting, but remember, you're not alone on this journey.

Up next, we'll dive into the financial aspects of these treatments—stay tuned to unveil the costs associated with IPL and microneedling. Section 4: The Cost of IPL and Microneedling Curious about the financial investment? Delve into the world of costs and get a clearer picture of what each treatment entails. Counting the Cost: IPL and Microneedling Expenses Section 4: The Cost of IPL and Microneedling IPL vs Microneedling: What Are the Costs? The journey toward rejuvenated skin isn't just about aesthetics—it's also about making informed financial decisions. As you embark on the path of exploring IPL and microneedling, delving into the financial aspects will arm you with essential knowledge to plan your skin transformation wisely. The Cost of IPL When it comes to the cost of IPL treatments, it's important to note that there's no one-size-fits-all price tag. The expense varies based on several crucial factors, including: Treatment Area: The size of the area being treated significantly influences the cost. Treating a larger surface area might require more resources, hence affecting the overall cost. Severity of the Skin Condition: The extent of your skin concerns—be it mild or more pronounced—can influence the number of sessions required, which in turn impacts the cost. Location and Facility: Different regions and facilities may have varying price ranges due to local economic factors and the reputation of the clinic. In general, it's safe to say that IPL tends to be on the higher end of the pricing spectrum compared to microneedling. This financial investment reflects the comprehensive nature of IPL treatments and the broad range of skin conditions it can effectively address. The Cost of Microneedling Microneedling, on the other hand, typically presents a more accessible price point compared to IPL. Similarly, the cost of microneedling varies based on: Treatment Area: Just like with IPL, the size of the treatment area directly impacts the cost. Different areas might require different levels of attention and resources. Severity of the Skin Condition: The extent of your skin concerns still plays a role, as more sessions might be needed for more pronounced issues. Location and Facility: Local factors and the quality of the facility can influence the cost. As you contemplate the financial commitment, remember that both IPL and microneedling offer transformative benefits that can make a significant impact on your confidence and well-being. Up next, let's delve into another crucial aspect of these treatments—their respective recovery times. Understanding how long it takes for your skin to bounce back can play a decisive role in your decision-making process. Section 5: The Recovery Time for IPL and Microneedling Stay tuned to discover the intricacies of the recovery process and how it might influence your choice between IPL and microneedling. Balancing Beauty and Recovery: IPL vs Microneedling Section 5: The Recovery Time for IPL and Microneedling IPL vs Microneedling: What Is the Recovery Time? As you embark on the journey toward rejuvenating your skin, it's essential to consider not only the immediate results but also the recovery process that follows. Both IPL and microneedling offer transformative benefits, but understanding the road to recovery can be a decisive factor in your treatment choice. The Recovery Time for IPL After an IPL session, your skin may exhibit temporary signs of change, including redness, swelling, and even some bruising. Fear not, as these side effects are often fleeting and tend to dissipate within a matter of days.
The magic of IPL lies in its ability to stimulate change beneath the surface, while the outer signs gradually fade away. The Recovery Time for Microneedling In the realm of microneedling, patience becomes your ally. While the benefits are no less enchanting, the recovery process might extend over several weeks. It's not uncommon to experience some bleeding, scabbing, and even a hint of infection in the days following your microneedling session. The journey toward rejuvenation takes time, as your skin undergoes a remarkable process of transformation. In both cases, your diligent commitment to aftercare and adherence to your dermatologist's recommendations can significantly impact the healing process. It's crucial to remember that every individual's recovery journey is unique, and while these are general guidelines, your experience might differ. Mineral vs. Chemical Sunscreens- Which one is for me?
I have very oily and acne prone skin, with the added bonus of eczema and being extremely sensitive. It's a given that I have to be picky when it comes to what I put on my face. Even though most of the summer season has past, I still haven't purchased a sunscreen. I know most people recommend using a facial sunscreen year round, but I haven't given much thought to which one would work for me and I've been winging it with no SPF. I've seen many self proclaimed skincare experts and dermatologists saying SPF is a mandatory step in a good routine, so I suppose I'll stop dragging my feet and delve deeper into my search for a sunscreen suitable for my fussy face.
The first thing I wondered was, what's the difference between mineral and chemical sunscreens? Here's what I found. Mineral sunscreen sits on top of the skin and blocks rays at the surface. Common ingredients include zinc oxide and titanium dioxide. Rather than sitting on the surface, chemical sunscreen sinks deeper into the skin and absorbs rays like a sponge. Common ingredients include oxybenzone, avobenzone, octisalate, octocrylene, homosalate, and octinoxate. Quite a list, huh?
Mineral sunscreens, due to sitting on top of the skin, may leave a white cast. They also have a thicker consistency that could leave a foggy film or start to pill up when mixed with other skincare products. Sounds like mineral sunscreens won't go so well with makeup, but they would be a better option for sensitive or acne prone skin types like mine. Mineral sunscreens are also noncomedogenic. Noncomedo-what? I had no clue what that meant before doing the research for this post, but I'm happy I found out! Noncomedogenic means that it won't clog your pores or cause breakouts.
Chemical sunscreens, although a better choice when worn under makeup, absorb into the skin a bit more and could be a skin allergen to some. Doesn't sound the best for my eczema. Dermatologists also recommend steering clear of the ingredients oxybenzone and octinoxate, which are often used in chemical sunscreens. I would say when used in moderation, chemical sunscreen won't have too much of a negative impact on normal skin, but if you have sensitive skin I wouldn't recommend it. The best thing about chemical sunscreen seems to be the thinner consistency. It spreads more smoothly than mineral sunscreens and would be less likely to leave a white cast, while also acting a bit more civil with your base makeup.
Overall, I think a mineral sunscreen would be the best choice for my skin type, I'll just have to sacrifice heavier base makeup when using it. Chemical sunscreens have too many potential negative side effects for my taste. Not to mention the impact some of them have on the environment, if you consider that when purchasing products. Okay I'll mention it. I sense your curiosity through the screen. Two words, coral, bleaching. Seems like all of the color that chemical sunscreens drain from our oceans would end up on my face in the form of a beautiful rosacea pimple rainbow! Dumb jokes aside, chemical sunscreens are a big no from me.
(I've included miscellaneous links to informational articles on what each of the ingredients listed are. I couldn't link wikipedia for some reason.)

WHAT SKIN TYPES SHOULD AND SHOULDN’T USE TONER?
Tumblr media
Dr. Samolitis says there’s no simple answer since skin types and concerns are unique to the individual. However, “toner is most beneficial for people who have very oily or acne-prone skin and need a bit of extra exfoliation to clarify pores.” Conversely, “anyone with sensitive skin, eczema, allergies, rosacea, or dry skin should be cautious of toners in general,” she says. Essentially, this latter group would fare better with hydrating and replenishing (vs. active and exfoliating) toners.
CAN YOU STILL USE AN EXFOLIATING TONER IF YOUR REGIMEN INCLUDES OTHER ACTIVES?
“Toners can enhance the penetration of active ingredients by removing excess oil and skin debris prior to applying those actives,” says Dr. Samolitis. “Those with a combination of exfoliating acids in light concentrations (glycolic, salicylic, or lactic acid) are best for this purpose.”
To avoid compromising your skin barrier, slowly introduce new products and active ingredients. To play it safe, you can start by diluting a cotton pad with water before applying toner. You can also build up from a patch test to once weekly, every other day, daily, and twice daily based on your skin’s response.
Additionally, if you use medical-grade topicals, you should rotate (rather than layer) exfoliating toner in your routine. For instance, tone in the morning and apply your Rx active at night—or switch them out by the day. Of course, it’s always advised to consult your dermatologist to tailor your own unique regimen.
Tumblr media
“Traditional toners were largely alcohol based, which could cause irritation and dryness. Many of them also contained witch hazel and/or salicylic acid to clarify acne-prone skin,” Dr. Samolitis explains. However, the market has experienced a recent renaissance of sorts, expanding to address additional skincare concerns. “Now there are many kinds of toners available, including those with micellar water, rose water, essential oils, and emollients such as glycerin to provide more hydration,” she continues.

Hi! I read your rising vs rising responses and i was really interested since there are two birthtimes for me one makes me a cancer rising and the other makes me a leo rising. I relate to both so i want to ask could you do a cancer vs leo rising?
Hi there,
I'll go over typical physical attributes briefly, but please refer to this post on rising signs and astrological correspondence to appearance in general.
Cancers tend to have cooler undertones, moist/oily/combination skin, and if acne prone, usually hormonally triggered. Leos have a ruddy, warm complexion, dry/sensitive skin, and can be acne prone based on diet (sugar, alcohol, etc.); there can also be a tendency for rosacea for some Leos. Cancers usually have a flatter profile and fuller features (full lips, round cheeks/face, etc). Leos features lean towards average-ish in terms of the size of their features, but consistently have a very distinct catty appearance. Cancers sometimes have a bulbous skull and Leos may appear to be that way too, but it's usually because they are prone to a residing hairline which will naturally elongate their forehead (pssst Leos out there: wear your sunscreen, wear a hat, wear sunglasses, protect your skin, hair, and eyes. Trust me, the sun doesn't love us as much as we would like to believe). Fat distributes evenly for Cancers and Leos are usually top heavy.
Onto some other characteristics,
A dead-ringer for Cancer risings is common health issues among Cancers. These issues are usually hormonal (particularly with uterus bearing individuals) or in relation to a sensitive stomach. And I really mean as simple as a sensitive stomach, I don't mean particularly food intolerances such as lactose or gluten intolerance (very common intolerances among people in general). If the Moon appears in the first house, these issues can be apparent as well. Leo's health issues may be more complex, there isn't really a singular thing you can spot every time, especially in young Leos. With this said, you can really see it in a Leo's skin and body when they are not taking care of themselves, whether that be smoking or excessive drinking or too much refined sugar or anything that is just an unhealthy lifestyle.
Cancer rising's 10th house is in Aries and therefore Mars ruled. They often suit careers where they are their own boss. Entrepreneurs, field expert, business owners, working their way up to the top of a company, self employed, etc. Their 4th house is in Libra and therefore ruled by Venus. If Venus isn't heavily afflicted, they will perceive their domestic life and family values very fondly. Leo rising's 10th is Venus ruled in Taurus. They often suit careers that are hands-on and creative. This can range from many different career paths, where Venus is in the chart will be more telling. They need a career that they can imprint their identity into. Their 4th house is in Scorpio and Mars/Pluto ruled. They perceive their family matters as having some level of estrangement and mystery. Usually there's some dark family secrets. I can attest to this, being a Leo rising, there's some mysteries in my family that I'll never be able to solve. My grandmother, also a Leo rising, went above and beyond to try to solve some of these mysteries too with no avail!
Finally, Cancer rising's chart is ruled by the Moon and Leo rising's chart is ruled by the Sun. The chart's ruling planet is extremely important and plays out a very large theme in an individual's life. You will likely closely identify with your chart ruler.

battle of the azelaic acids! paula’s choice vs. the ordinary
🌱 the ordinary: $7.90/30 ml, 10% AzA, no frills
feels smooth and velvety on the skin and creates a smoothened, matte finish that looks quite pretty — until you try to layer more skincare or makeup on top, that is, and it starts to roll up. the pilling made me use it only as my last step of my evening routine, but the decrease in redness it helped me achieve was almost instantaneous, and it also faded my hyperpigmentation spots. that price is unbeatable, but i wish the formulation was less annoying.
🌱 paula’s choice: $36.00/30 ml, 10% AzA, also features salicylic acid, adenosine, licorice root extract, allantoin, bisabolol.
more expensive, more lightweight, with an ingredient list that features more interesting actives — and yet the PC AzA leaves my skin slightly less nourished, and i’ve seen less of a drastic reduction in redness, though it does effectively target hyperpigmentation. it does not roll up under other products, either.
the verdict:
it’s really hard to choose, but based on price and results, i’ll go with the ordinary as my winner — i use azelaic acid in my evening routine, anyway, and the simpler formulation is less irritating to my skin!
you’ll love it it if... you’re prone to redness, rosacea, acne, hyperpigmentation and/or broken capillaries.

Medical Spa Vs Day Spa: What Is the Difference?
Tumblr media
Spas are a wonderful way to relax and unwind from tension. They offer a wide range of services to help you look and feel your best. However , there is also a big difference between a medical spa and a day health spa, so it's important to know which one to go to for what. These two spas offer services that improve your appearance plus boost your confidence, and might offer some crossover services, they generally do not offer the same types of treatments. If you're the very best solution for a specific treatment, it helps to know what services various methods targeted offers so you can make the right choice for an appointment. Medical Gyms Offer Medical Aesthetic Services Unlike a day spa, the medical spa does not offer massages or pedicures, but rather focuses on treatments that use state-of-the-art technology to improve that tinnitus your skin and body. These treatments offer long-term and / or permanent solutions for a wide variety of issues related to fat reduction, cellulite removal, muscle enhancement, hair removal, broken capillaries, ugly pigmentations, acne, rosacea, fine lines, and wrinkles. From a bare minimum, most medical spas will offer core services as well as permanent hair removal, photo facials, and laser pores and skin therapy. In large cities or metropolitan areas, they may even offer additional services such as body shaping, teeth whitening, and facial fillers such as Juvederm and Botox. Evening Spas Offer Beautifying Services Day spas focus on typically the types of services you might expect to get at a salon. Almost all offer clients hair styling, body scrubs and wraps, manicures and pedicures, waxing, and several different types of massages, including Swedish, hot stone and deep tissue. Although day health spas offer facials as well, these facials usually include particular things like alpha hydroxy acids, seaweed masks, or clay for you to soften or tighten skin instead of using lasers. non-e of the treatments offered at a traditional day spa will offer long-lasting results or involve complex technology. Medical Spas Experience Medical Professionals A medical spa normally has one or more health professionals involved in the business, and these doctors either supervise or perhaps consult on all of the treatments. Procedures not performed because of a doctor are often performed by a nurse or a licensed aesthetician specifically trained in the treatments the spa offers. Distinct from a day spa, a medical spa usually only implements doctors and medically trained staff. Employees for equally types of spas are insured. Day Spas Use Cosmetologists and Massage Therapists At a day spa, no broad procedures are usually performed. They do not use medical equipment how a medical spa does. Most of their services focus on massages, manicures, and facials. Although laws vary by simply state, most of these spas are not required to staff medical staff members to perform these services. Manicures, pedicures, and facials will be administered by licensed aestheticians. Massages are performed through licensed massage therapists. Day spas also usually do not have a very good doctor on site or even as a consulting staff member. At some point, the decision of which spa to go to will depend on what kind of services as well as atmosphere you are interested in. Day spas are more elegant and superb because they focus on relaxation and making clients feel decent. Medical spas are often more purposeful in appearance and may experience more like a doctor's office. Whereas the benefits of day club services are generally short-lived and require constant maintenance, health related spa treatments will have long-lasting positive benefits to your health and wellness, appearance, and self-confidence. If you are interested in aesthetic improvements that come with lasting results, visit a medical spa.

Different Between AHA and BHA
When it comes to choosing skincare products, many people will see “AHA” or “BHA” that are labeled in the products. AHA or BHA has been used in a wide range of skincare products. Most of the brands put these acids in their products from cleasing to serum or even mask. Many of us would wonder what are these do to help to treat our face?. Are they the same?

AHA and BHA
They are hydroxy acid that helps our skin gently and naturally exfoliate the dull and dead skin cells. It actually;
decrease inflammation, a key marker of acne, rosacea, and other skin concerns
decrease the appearance of large pores and surface wrinkles
even out your skin tone
improve overall skin texture
remove dead skin cells
unclog pores to prevent acne

How they are different?
AHA (Alpha Hydroxy Acid)
They are an acid from sugary fruit such as sugar cane, milk, and grapes. They are best in dissolved in water for the effective uses. The common AHA is Glycolic Acid which is from Sugar cane. They are often used for;
mild hyperpigmentation like age spots, melasma, and scars
enlarged pores
fine lines and surface wrinkles
uneven skin tone
Moreover, they are suitable for people who have normal and dry skin
How to use
As AHA is for exfoliation, it is the best to choose the maximum concentration between 10%-15%  in order to avoid the side effects such as irritation. Apply the products every other day.  Make sure you wear sunscreen because AHA make your skin more sensitive to the sun
BHA (Beta Hydroxy Acid)
They are best in dissolved in oil, so they can go deeper into pores and sebum. They are designed for daily use as it does not make your skin sensitive. The common BHA is Salicylic which is from Willow Bark Tree. They are used for;
acne and sun damage as it helps reduce redness and inflammation.
Moreover, BHA is suitable for people who have combination and oily skin.
How to use
BHA can use daily, but you may try 2-3 times per week in order to make your skin get used to. Also, you need to apply sunscreen as well.

Skin Care Introduction
Tumblr media
What am I preparing for? The 12 Step Korean Skin Care Routine.
Introduction;
The ever so famous skin care routine of Korea’s beautiful glass skin! Most women go as low as three steps, and others, as high as twenty! I am definitely reaching into the higher end of the spectrum.
After many years of taking an interest to Korean skin care, I decided to give it a go, now that I have more funds. I have only purchased some products and will be introducing them one at a time, in order to test for skin allergy reaction. I will also be posting progress pictures and reviews of such said products in the future.
Basic Stats;
Sex: Female.
Birth: 1983
Ethnicity: Filipino-American-Chinese.
The skin break down; Dry, sensitive, rosacea, hyper-pigmentation, acne scarring, mature (the beginning of wrinkles, crows feet), dark eye circles, acne (minor, such as occasional white and black heads), large pores.
History;
As a child, I suffered from severe oily skin, severe acne, from cystic, to white heads, black heads, and large pores.I was bullied severely for this, among other things. I went to dozens of dermatologists in different countries - military family so lots of moving - and most were quite worthless. I mean, seriously, one guy just went into his cabinet and pulled out a couple alcohol swabs, told me to use it for a couple weeks and come back. Every time I came back to people like this, they would repeat the process, which made me realize they just wanted money for the office visits and didn’t care at all about my needs.
Fast forward to a young adult, I tried many forms of birth control, and nothing worked. To my fellow women - NEVER do Depo-Provera shot. I have never been so messed up by a medication then I have on this.
I realized on my own that I had a milk allergy and by removing this from my diet, some of my acne subsided, but I still had major issues. Other things also improved like my flatulence (lol) and horrible stomach pains. This led into me realizing I had Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and I had to make a lot of diet changes. It is amazing how allergies and diet can have affect on the skin, as well as drinking a lot of water to help flush out the system!
Fast forward a bit, I went to some Dermatologists from free clinics, who were interns, later the same type on Medicaid - and lemme tell you - horrible mistake. Free VS Medicaid VS good insurance, lets you know who has the power over your well being. I was pretty much a test dummy, and they honestly did not care for my input nor what was best for me. I was placed on different type of creams like Retin-A... btw.... they never told me to wear sunscreen! Even after six months of my cystic acne basically becoming 10000x worse, they said it was just a phase and would go away in a few more years. I mean... years? After six more months, I was a mountain of rock tomatoes. After discontinuing all the various products they had me switching all over the place to over the years, I cleared back to my basic acne. I was left with horrible scarring and pits all over my face. Thanks health system!
Fast forward to 2018. I finally met a decent Dermatologist who placed me on Spironolactone and she couldn’t believe what I had been through - she said most of my issue was just hormonal and I was creating too much testosterone in my system. Six months later all my cystic acne had vanished! A year later, I was cystic acne free. Most of my break outs had also diminished and I was just left with the occasional minor break outs of white and black heads - but no more cystic! And that to me, was the most important part. As cystic acne was always so painful, left bad scarring/pigmentation, and lasted for months, before it went away. But the dreadful being of its present was forever etched into my skin.
2019. I have been at my new job long enough to be placed on their health benefits - Aetna. All my previous jobs were horrid and also did not offer and kind of benefits. This would be the first time I ever had real insurance in my adult life. Kinda sad, considering my age. The US is just not friendly in regards for health towards their citizens. Though pricey, I was finally getting decent care. I transferred all my medical to a good hospital with a new Dermatologist. They prescribed me azelaic acid, called Finacea. They stated I had rosacea.. I always had a feeling I did, but no one ever mentioned this till now.
I am now on the road, to hopefully, clearing out any remaining stubborn acne, repairing damage, and overall improving my skin. Though it seems right now I am going through a purging stage around my nose and chin, my major problem areas, so I hope that means it is just a purge and not a break out. I am sure with any new product I introduce, that has ingredients with a high cell turn over rate, will occur. In due time, I will have a set routine, and should have no more purges.
Goals;
Implementing the Korean Skin Care routine, I hope to achieve the glass skin that everyone raves about. I know most of it is due to Asian genes - my great Grandfather was Chinese - though probably not enough to be blessed, but I hope I can come close to it. In my youth, I did have oily skin, that contributed to my youthful complexion, but I have switched to dry. Makes me quite sad, as I rather trade these dry flakes sloughing off my skin, for oils that were easier to manage. I also have hyper-pigmentation and pits from old cystic acne, mostly from not wearing sunscreen and negative treatments from past Dermatologists.  I am now implementing sunscreen, I guess better late then never. I don’t have horrible acne as I use too, but I do have some black heads, occasional white heads and large pores.
Surgeries;
I do know that most of my skin can be corrected surgically, and not all the creams in the world can correct the deep rooted issues. But who has the money for that? Derma-needling and laser treatments I have researched and taken an interest too. Maybe some day, when I win the lottery. One can dream.
I also suffer from “jowls.” Sagging of the cheeks. This causes me to have an older, sad, and puffy face. I assume from continually pulling my face down due to western forms of rubbing the skin for products, stress and jaw issues. The main reason I got health insurance is because I need a major surgery called, “Total temporomandibular joint (TMJ) replacement.” I am hoping after this surgery, that I can see a plastic surgeon to correct my jowls, and have it approved by my insurance, due to the TMJ surgery. My insurance has certain regulations and I may skate by if my surgeon words it correctly. Again, one can dream!

Professional Peels: Facts Vs Fiction
Tumblr media
Interested in a chemical peel but unsure whether it’s safe or effective?  There seems to be some confusion when it comes to facts vs fiction, so let us at Sanctuary Salon - the best day spa in Orlando - clear things up by giving you the facts.
FICTION:  CHEMICAL PEELS ARE UNSAFE
FACT: Professional peels from a med spa in Orlando are formulated with a unique ingredient blend that acts as an exfoliant, revealing the layers of fresh, rejuvenated skin. Professional chemical peels from Sanctuary - an Award Winning spa & salon in Orlando - are a highly effective way of minimizing scarring, reducing fine lines and wrinkles, and evening out skin tone and can even work as an acne treatment.
FICTION:  SKIN WILL EXCESSIVELY PEEL POST-TREATMENT
FACT: The skin may or may not peel after a chemical peel treatment like various facial spa treatments, as peels can be tailored to your needs and goals. The visible enzyme peel facial or chemical face peel can be limited or maximized depending on your ultimate skincare goal.  Many of the skin peeling treatments available work at the cellular level, so physical side effects are minimal. A little redness and sensitivity may occur afterwards, so it is highly recommended to wear sunscreen as recommended by your skin care professional.
FICTION: CHEMICAL PEELS CAN’T BE USED ON SENSITIVE SKIN
FACT: Even if you have sensitive skin and suffer from acne, rosacea, or eczema, you can still receive a professional chemical peel as part of your skincare and facial treatment, as there are specific peels that are specifically formulated for sensitive skin such as the chemical peel for acne.
FICTION:  CHEMICAL PEELS MAKE YOUR SKIN HURT AND LEAVE YOU RED
FACT: Our professional peels and luxury facial treatments in Orlando Florida with their unique ingredient blends deliver a comfortable treatment experience without sacrificing efficacy, leaving your skin with a healthy glow and minimal downtown.  Some guests even schedule these Skincare treatments during their lunch breaks!
FICTION:  ONLY PEOPLE WITH PROBLEMATIC SKIN SHOULD DO CHEMICAL PEELS
FACT:  While chemical peels are very effective at resolving skin imperfections, they are also helpful at maintaining skin health and appearance. In other words, if you are satisfied with your skin appearance, chemical peels and related facial treatments in Orlando can be used as a treatment option to help restore your healthy skin and prevent things like aging, clogged pores, dull skin and uneven skin tone.
FAQ:
WHAT ARE PEELS FOR?
Professional peels are for everyone. Whether your skin is dry, oily, combination or sensitive, there is a peel treatment that will work for you.
WHEN DO I GET A PEEL?
Professional peels are usually recommended once a month, paralleling the skin’s natural 28 – day cell turnover process for the best results.  Depending on your skin concern, Sanctuary’s deep facial cleansing spa may recommend it more or less frequently.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF A PEEL?
Professional peels have a large number of benefits.
Reduced visible fine lines and wrinkles
Fewer acne breakouts
Diminished discoloration and a more even skin tone
Increased cell turnover process
Softer, smoother skin
HOW DO PEELS WORK?
Professional peels speed up the exfoliation process, encouraging skin turnover that leaves the skin looking fresh and healthy, therefore they are effective anti aging skin treatments.  Ingredients in the skin peeling treatment solution are also working to create new cells that function properly not only visibly improving the skin but correcting it from within.
CAN ANYONE HAVE A PEEL?
Not everyone is suited to all chemical peels.  There are certain chemical peels that should never be performed on those with darker skin tones, as they are prone to skin pigmentation.  However, the Vi Peel was one of the first chemical peels developed that is safe for patients of all skin types – meaning patients with both light and dark skin. It is important to remember, peels are not a ‘one size fits all’ treatment. Peels come in many strengths and forms and you must always seek the advice of a qualified skin professional from a spa like Sanctuary - the best spa for facials - before embarking on a series of chemical peels.

Left: me a few days ago. Right: both from a few months ago. I had moderate acne before testosterone, so of course it became worse when I finally started. It didn’t help that I didn’t drink water at all and would instead have soda every single day. I finally reached a breaking point. Now I’ll have a soda maybe once a week if that, and make sure I drink water (I had no idea how much that would affect it). Things that also helped: washing my face twice a day (vs once a day and sometimes not at all), using a LOT more moisturizer (with spf), and changing my pillow sheets every night. My skin isn’t perfect, and I have some redness from the scarring, but after 12 years of horrible rosacea and cysts, I’d consider this a win :)

#Sulsal #sulsal_soap #bior_D * Salizalic * Azelaic acid VS Salicylic acid, Azelaic Acid has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties which is why it is an excellent choice for treating hormonal or cystic acne, blackheads and the redness and swelling of rosacea. Salicylic acid can help decrease oil secretion and reduce inflammation. * Sulfacetamide-Sulfur Sodium sulfacetamide is a sulfonamide with antibacterial activity while sulfur acts as a keratolytic agent Sodium sulfacetamide works by stopping the growth of certain bacteria on the skin that can lead to acne and worsen these other skin conditions. It belongs to a class of drugs known as sulfa antibiotics. Sulfur works by helping remove the top layer of dead skin. It belongs to a class of drugs known as keratolytics. * Some acne cleansers and face soaps have added ingredients to fight acne and improve the skin's appearance. Medicated cleansers contain acne-fighting ingredients like: salicylic acid, sodium sulfacetamide, or benzoyl peroxide, which can help clear up skin while cleaning it. * Salicylic acid helps clear blocked pores and reduces swelling and redness. * Benzoyl peroxide exfoliates the skin and kills bacteria. * Sodium sulfacetamide interferes with the growth of bacteria. * To keep your skin hydrated, look for cleansers that contain emollients (petrolatum, lanolin, mineral oil and ceramides) or humectants (glycerin), which hold moisture in your skin, or exfoliants (alphahydroxy acids) to smooth rough areas. Dry skin: Aim for a heavier moisturizer and look for ingredients like: 1- hyaluronic acid and dimethicone, which help keep skin hydrated. 2- Glycerin, propylene glycol, proteins, and urea also help attract water to your skin. 3- Lanolin, mineral oil, and petrolatum lock in moisture. https://www.instagram.com/p/CRbynA7Fsj2/?utm_medium=tumblr
