The death of me isn't the death of us/AKA what not to say to your disabled friend
TDLR - Me being disabled doesn't disable you, and if you think it does THAT is what will be the death of us, not my body.
I'm so tired of telling my friends that I've dislocated a joint after they ask if I'm okay only for them to complain
OMG that's so gross
Does that mean we can't hang out?
I'm so tired of telling my friends that I'm vomiting acid only for them to complain
That sounds disgusting! Remind me never to ask around lunch time if you're okay
OMG I can practically feel it myself
I'm so tired of them asking over and over if it'll shorten my life span or be the thing that kills me.
I'm so tired of them asking if I've found a cure, or if yoga or meditation had helped.
I'm so tired of them acting like me being disabled is death.
I'm so tired of them acting like by association they have one foot in the grave.

PSA for anyone taking omeprazole (Prilosec) who would like not to be taking omeprazole: you have to taper it off slowly. Take it every other day for a couple weeks, then three days a week, two days a week, once a week. You may want to replace it with another preventative antacid. Be prepared for some discomfort when you adjust frequency — maybe have some mylanta or equivalent on hand.
They stopped my prescription for the stuff and did not tell me how to stop taking it without terrible rebound reflux, so I ended up going back on it OTC and having several unpleasant cold turkey attempts… But after about two months of tapering, I'm pretty much off it! and quite pleased with myself. It can be done!

really wild how doctors treat acid reflux by prescribing copious amounts of acid reducers. it's like if you went to the doctor like "Dr there is blood coming out of my eyes" and they go "oh better get rid of some blood that should fix it"

Pharmacies should make it easier to transfer prescriptions. I’m missing my PPI I feel so sick right now. And the day after getting an oral piercing too. I hope to god I don’t throw up that would literally be the worst case scenario right now

If you have acid reflux and get a lot of nausea, I suggest laying or leaning to your left side. This trick has quelled many nausea episodes that could easily have ended with me at the toilet. It takes advantage of the shape of the stomach. It has to be the left, that's the side of the curve, the right can make it worse. It's just using gravity to your advantage. If it doesn't work in 15 minutes, then I reach for the antacid or zofran.
