not gonna dig it up since it's pretty old but i came upon this post that said sth like "maybe asexuality is real but I've never met an asexual that wasn't trans or ugly or traumatised or young or into some freaky shit" and it's like yeah? obviously? might as well have said "I've never met an asexual who wasn't blond or brunette or ginger or black haired or dyed it or was bald" yeah that's everyone. you covered pretty much all of humanity.

Gonna yell "TEXTILES ARE WHAT MAKES US HUMAN!" at anyone spouting acephobic nonsense about how sex/romantic relationships make us human.

CA$H PIGGOTT.
I need to talk about Cash Piggott and how important his character is to the asexual community.
I absolutely adore the fact that Cash calls people out on their acephobia and never, ever apologises for who he is. He doesn't think he's broken.
In season one, we see Darren say "you know what, I think there's something really fucking wrong with you, Cash," and Cash immediately, with no hesitation, screams "well fuck you then".
In season two, we see Dusty say that he's being selfish asking Darren to give up sex and he immediately stands up and says "fuck this" because he knows he doesn't have to listen to people making him feel bad about his sexuality.
And when he's talking to his nan about it, Cash says "it's not fair, I would do anything, why does it have to be the one thing I can't change about myself?"
In every single one of these scenes, we never see Heartbreak High blame Cash for his sexuality. We never see him apologise to anyone for not feeling sexual attraction, and we never see him feel guilty about it, or try to change who he is.
CA$H recognises that his sexuality might be difficult for people to accept and understand, but he never lets other people make him feel like he's broken, or flawed. And that's so powerful to see.
Because asexual people are not broken. And we can't be fixed. And we are not being selfish for putting in boundaries.
I absolutely adore Douglas Piggott. He means the world to me, and this representation is so, so important.

(ID: two memes using the "it's 2024 i'm done arguing / if you hate X i'm straight up murdering you" meme format. the first says "aromantics" and has a picture of the aro pride flag, and the second says "asexuals" and has a picture of the ace pride flag. end ID)

there are lots of people who i regret telling about my asexuality.
lately i will just be existing when someone says something vaguely sexual, and they’ll look over at me like “oops!! sorry i know you’re ace! hehe”
or i will say i like a romantic movie or something and they’ll be like “um ☝️ Youre Asexual Though?”
i also got outed through a stupid meme about hating sex that my friend shared about me. it’s just fucking humiliating.
i rarely even talk about my asexuality but way too many people love bringing it up all. the. time. like forget i even said anything, fuck you

People will celebrate characters not being aro/ace the same way straight people celebrate a character not being gay and then act like it isn't aro/acephobic

Controversal opinion, I don't think it's really ever appropriate for people to theorize about groups they're not apart of.
That's how you get things like "non binary people aren't oppressed" and "trans men are exactly like cis men in every way and therefore have male privilege" and "asexuals aren't LGBT" and "bisexuals have straight privilege" like maybe like, include the group you're theorizing about to talk about their experiences because it always ends up exclusionary otherwise.

I feel like some people within the aspec community need to check themselves for aphobia like it's seriously concerning. I'm not just talking about internalized aphobia btw, I'm also talking about straight up aphobia against other members of the community.
If you're ace, that does not mean you are immune to being arophobic. Same goes if you're aro, you are not immune to being acephobic.
If you're aroace, you could also be aphobic without it necessarily being what could be considered as "internalized" (e.g. being aphobic to a favorable aroace when you're repulsed, being aphobic to aroaces who are non-partnering when you're partnering, being aphobic to loveless aros when you aren't loveless or lovequeer aros when you aren't lovequeer, etc. etc.).
That's not even talking about the amatonormativity in the community either.

i'm having thoughts about amatonormativity and why it sucks and they're long-winded and hard to properly express bc it's late at night but i wanted to share them so i summarized them with a meme

this realization brought to you by the realization that a lot of people who say acephobic shit without actively denying asexuality exists just mentally swapped "virgin" for "asexual" and carried on with their lives. this best evidenced by people being "accepting" of asexual women but ignoring/erasing asexual men.

some aromantic people can feel no romantic attraction whatsoever

I found a new thing that absolutely gets on my nerves.
I was scrolling through the Alastor Aroace tag as you do and I keep seeing people say things like, 'if he's Aroace then why so fruity' or 'how can he be Aroace if he acts like this' referencing to the fact that he is eccentric and silly.
All I can think is, um, why is that important, like at all? I was already annoyed by the fact that people just say someone is gay simply because they act a certain way, that is both offensive to gay people and puts people in boxes, but now it's grown to be more than a frustration.
I mean, do people not see how freaking offensive that is? And it seems as if it's genuine sometimes and even if it's not it's not a funny joke.
What do you mean you don't think he can't be Aroace cause he kicks his feet and drops his wrist? That has nothing to do with sexual or romantic orientation! It's so... It makes me feel like him being Aroace is just a joke to them. That it's more of a silly note the author made than real representation.
Do these people not realize we can see things and that we exist? That, maybe, not every character you find fun and attractive is a gay man?
I just saw a Tiktok where it's like, 'I think he wants a man,' to that one scene of kicking his feet and it pissed me off.
Anyways, I just needed to say that.
