Also when I went to college I went in with like a bunch of promises that I, a poc female in stem, was needed but like once I started applying to things I got rejected by everything and now I feel like… are you sure you needed me? I followed everyone’s advice and I’m still labeled as a failure.

I’m not ok lmaoooo I can’t wait for this semester is over I just wanna dig holes in my back yard.

Let's get started again shall we...

I've only very intermittently used this blog in the past year or so... but I want all that to change!

I love the community on this of tumblr. Studyblr, langblr, academiablr, the whole lot of it, is where I really feel at home. I love the beautiful aesthetic shots shared, of course, but the encouragement to get improve oneself, pursue education and and self betterment of all kinds, and the generally accepting and kind people I've encountered here are really something else.

And so I'm coming back! Especially since I'm on a gap year, and I don't want my academics to suffer while I'm away.

So let's at it! Reading, writing, studying, all while working my first job and doing the other things I took this year off to do.

My name is Harrison, I'm 19, and I'm currently on a year off from studying Classics, Art History and Archaeology. My other interests include literature, linguistics, writing, conlanging, music, and historical fashion. I love Lord of the Rings, Donna Tartt, coffee, and art museums. I want to be the type of person that wakes up at 5 a.m and meditates. The type of person who drinks green juice for breakfast but also drinks unholy amounts of coffee throughout the day. The type of person that studies by candlelight and learns new languages in a desperate attempt to decipher how the existence of certain words can affect someone’s way of thinking.

I want to be in love with the process of being, not the goals I achieve. I want to stop valuing accomplishments because other people will be impressed by me and I want to start seeing those same accomplishments as mere reflections of the type of person I am.

I want to stop romanticizing my future and start romanticizing my present. I’m tired of craving too much and not at all at the same time, I’m tired of working myself to the bone, I’m tired of my dissatisfaction, I’m tired of people congratulating me and me not believing them.

I want to stop seeing every moment as something of great importance, I want to start seeing every moment as something of great importance.
