"wow, I wish i were in a wheelchair, it must be pretty great to sit all day"
no, it's not. being in a wheelchair is incredibly painful. It is easy to get pressure sores, muscle cramps, or back pain from sitting.
ever sat on a cramped flight for several hours, unable to move much or stretch your legs? That's what it's like being in a wheelchair, except all the time. It's horrible. Stop saying that being in a chair must be "fun" or "easy"

I wish we had main characters with scarring :(. Most of the villains appear to have significant scars, but the only two of our heroes to have something even remotely close are Qibli (nose scar, small) and Starflight (blinded, not explored). Not only would adding scarring help with representation and disprove the evil =/= scarred stereotype, it would help make better designs and differentiate the dragons further.
Your designs don't have to be totally canon-accurate. If you think Indigo would look cooler with a jagged gash across her face from getting a boat thrown at her, feel free to do so! Nothing is stopping you.

I’d like to make something very clear. I do NOT have a problem with Byler. You might disagree and that’s fine but I think the ship is one sided attraction. That’s MY opinion.
My problem is with everyone who is trying to manipulate and twist events in the show to feed their own Byler fancies. It’s not only annoying and ignorant but sometimes harmful.
Tumblr is a place that seems to attract people who have difficulties in their personal lives. That doesn’t apply to everyone but for a lot of people it does.
-people throwing accusations of homophobia. I don’t need to explain this one, It doesn’t go amiss
-People being ebleist (not always intentionally). Eleven has disability. You can say she’s ‘just’ traumatised and uneducated but it’s clearly had a profound impact on many areas in life. Trauma itself can cause that. ‘A disability is any condition of the body or mind (impairment) that makes it more difficult for the person with the condition to do certain activities (activity limitation) and interact with the world around them (participation restrictions).’
-Disregarding and invalidating trauma and grief. “She lies to him because she doesn’t feel like she can be herself around him” “he can’t say he loves her because he actually loves Will” “she didn’t look happy when he confessed his feeling to her because she realised she didn’t love him like that” “Mike didn’t look happy when she said I love you too” Not everything is related directly to their relationships, Im sorry but it’s not. How people behave and respond to situations often goes deeper than what they’re actually arguing over that minute and these characters and their past go wayyy deeper than that. You can disagree but you don’t have to twist everything and anything to make it about Byler.
-No platforming. It’s dangerous. Don’t refuse to engage in a balanced debate because it crushes your Byler fantasies (same goes for Mileven). Sharing opinions and debating them is how we learn, but do them in a way that is respectful and sticks to facts. Not made up facts, if it’s not confirmed then ‘I think’ or ‘from my opinion’ are appropriate to use before sharing. Those are opinions, fell free to share opinions but don’t state them as fact.
-Open lack of compassion. Some of you love to criticise Eleven because she gets in the way of Byler. You can dislike her but at least try to understand her feelings and behaviour. Again, stop invalidating. She’s been severely abused and neglected her entire life, Im sorry if you find her “annoying” or “a bad girlfriend” but grow up
If you haven’t realised by now this post itself goes deeper than Byler and Mileven. It’s about respect. People like to use their fandoms as an escape and a coping strategy. Don’t call people homophobic for sharing an opposing opinion. How do you think child abuse victims or people with autism or learning difficulty or dealing with grief feel when coming across anti-Mileven post that invalidate Elevens issues or use them against her to further their own ideology. The lack of compassion and understanding then the refusal to educate themselves. All for what, to promote a freaking Tv show couple??
We grow attachments to fictional characters often because we can relate to them on a personal level. What you say about a fictional character can make someone feel bad about themselves. It can cause offence to people who love somebody who they think are similar to the fictional character.
We all have different opinions and fell free to share them, it’s how we learn and grow as people, but be considerate and educate yourselves first instead of spreading ignorance. And most importantly, STOP using these things for the purpose of promoting a freaking relationship between fictional characters. For example, saying El can’t understand romantic relationships and isn’t ready for one. If you believe that that’s fine and I respect it. However, it is completely irrelevant to Byler so don’t use it and point it out solely to feed your own fancies.

You aren't oppressed because a person of color made a joke about white people.
You aren't oppressed because a queer person made a joke about cisgender heterosexuals.
You aren't oppressed because a fat person made a joke about skinny people.
You aren't oppressed because a woman made a joke about men.
You aren't oppressed because a person from a different religion/an atheist made a joke about Christianity.
You aren't oppressed because a neurodivergent person made a joke about neurotypical people.
You aren't oppressed because a disabled person made a joke about abled-bodied people.
You all just have victim complexes and think that if someone makes a slighty "mean" joke it equates to the oppression that marginalized groups face.
And if you wanna come up here and be like "well we're ALL humans and ALL oppression is bad 🥺🥺 skinnyphobia reverse racism and cis/hetphobia are real" I'm going to cuss you out.

I don’t see people talking about it a lot but I feel like the idea that ace people are immature, childish, „innocent“, or just all around child-like is VERY prevalent. Beyond just the whole „you’re a late bloomer“ thing, I’ve experienced many people treating me like a baby because I don’t like sex. Like they’ll make innuendos and be like „oops teehee forgot I don’t wanna traumatize you“ like. Brother. I’ve fucked more times than I can count and I’m not shy to admit it, I just didn’t realize the funny little thing that most people actually enjoy sex. I already struggle with being infantilized, between the autism and just looking really young. It’s so annoying, people will even act like they’re shocked I started dating someone because I’m so innocent! Awww I hope they don’t try anything with you besides holding hands in the schoolyard 😁😁 ace people are sooo wholesome uwu babies must protect! LIKE SHUT UP SHUT THE FUCK UP YOURE A VIRGIN I FUCKED YOUR BOYFRIEND AND I WAS BORED THE WHOLE TIME

I’m sick and tired of having people constantly tell me my weight is why I have all these health problems. When in reality I was constantly telling adults “my heart is beating way to fast.” “I feel very dizzy.” “I feel nauseous.” “When I stand up to fast it’s hard to keep balance.” FOR YEARS. None of them took me seriously and now I’m almost 18 finding out that my body can’t process certain nutrients in food which has lead me to taking supplements and having anemia as well as chronic fatigue and pain :)
They tell you “walk more.” “Exercise more.” “Do yoga.”
Walking up 3 flights of stairs multiple times a day 5 days a week for over a year…should not lead me to needing to catch my breath for 5 minutes and leave me with inflamed joints the rest of the day every single time I took those stairs. At that point it isn’t my weight at all, it’s the other contributing factors. Funny thing is that never helped me lose weight.
When I took yoga class, doing the routines consistently left my muscles and joints in so much pain I had to drop the course entirely. (Mind you I was in it for 3 months, you’re body usually adjusts to yoga in a couple of WEEKS)
So yeah, if you are one of those ableist shits that think weight=all of a person’s health conditions, you need to be punched in the gut.

Can we ever have a conversation about consent in psychiatry and medical care in general? Can we talk about it?
Like you guys know what informed consent is, right? Why is that ignored when it comes to treating mental health problems?
Why are psychiatrists allowed to prescribe medications without telling the patient what they do or what the side effects are?
Why can't I talk to a therapist without my physical safety being threatened?
Why are doctors and psychiatrists allowed to coerce disabled and/or ill patients to take medication by refusing to treat/diagnose their problem until they take a psychiatric medication? Like I had doctors tell me, they won't run tests on me until I take an antidepressant.
I've directly asked psychiatrists to give me a full list of possible side effects, and they just told me "Oh it can cause nausea and maybe headaches" and then I go home, Google it, and find out I can't take it because it impairs cognitive function, causes brain damage, it's unsafe to take while driving, causes hair loss, raid heart rate, and possibly seizures.
Why doesn't anyone talk about this? And when we do bring it up, we're immediately shut down.

Okay I don't want to make anyone in particular feel bad, but I just want to say it makes me a little uncomfortable when I say
"What if this character was disabled (colorblind)?"
And the majority response is, "let's try to take advantage of their disability to make them wear things they aren't comfortable with!"
Like I know he's a fictional character and its all in good fun but after awhile it feels disrespectful. Achromatopsia is a real disability that ppl deal with, a lot of asks have been showing their ignorance in saying they would "teach Dark how to distinguish colors" as if a disabled person wouldn't know how to navigate their disability better than a non-disabled person
And some ppl jumping to "I'd get Dark color correcting lenses!" also show their ignorance because 1) it jumps to the desire to Fix a disabled person and 2) Color correcting glasses do NOT work for people with achromatopsia anyways
It just feels like Darkiplier with achromatopsia is being treated as a Quirky Fictional Character Trait with no thought or respect to actual ppl who have the disability and AGAIN i realize how silly it is to kick up a fuss over a character who is literally named "Darkiplier" but idk i just wanted to say something
I want everyone to have FUN and thats why I want to make sure any colorblind or otherwise disabled ppl feel comfortable here and not like they're being made fun of or used as a gimmick! 🖤🤟🏽

⚠️TW ABLIEST PARENT⚠️
I am feeling angry. I watch YouTube about autism, and child have meltdown. the Dad no help but record and say Chill out, most likely record with no consent from child. Am very upset, no one record anyone especially children without consent. Even if less vocal/have speech loss/total nonverbal, STILL CAN GIVE, AND NEED, CONSENT.
And dad no help at all. Just record like child's (3 autistic kids, all have meltdown get record) a science project. We not for display or "clout", we humans, we have emotions and experience just like you do. We still can say/allow yes/no to things, and we have boundaries, need respected!!!!
upset upset upset, almost had meltdown

Unpopular opinion but I don't care:
The slang term Tism feels a whole lot like a slur when people use it for other people or for fictional characters because nine out of ten times it's followed up by something severely stereotypical & downright ablest sounding.
