ok i havent seen the mighty ducks (its on my watch list i SWEAR) but who was going to tell me that aaron lohr. mush meyers himself. was in it???? i just got jumpscared when a clip of it came across my yt feed and i was like hey that guy looks like mush. WAIT
I'm a little confused about you post saying newsies west end whitewashed mush, because iirc he was played by a white actor in the original movie. Is he usually played by a poc in livesies/was the real person he was named after poc? Or was it another reason? /genq
Hi! No worries! In the movie he was played by Aaron Lohr, who is lighter skinner but is a Black man.
But no, Mush isn’t historical as far as I know. Aaron Lohr said in an interview that Mush was named partially for the color of his skin, saying it was ‘Mush like oatmeal’ (that’s a paraphrase I need to find the interview again for the direct quote)
it’s also stated at one point that he’s called Mush because he’s a romantic, but the above is direct from Aaron Lohr.
It’s true that he was white originally in the stage show, which was one of the things that always bugged me.
(Also, fun fact, Aaron Lohr is married to Idina Menzel now!)
Anyway, thanks for asking and I hope I answered it well!
I need to see more blink n mush modern fics. apart from in my head blink is a trans full time theatre student who litterally only wears graphic tees and joggers and mush is a part time psychology student who teaches sign language on the side who wears like shirts and ties with jeans and shitty trainers. please I just need to learn how to write so I can read them becoming flatmates and then becoming friends then lovers. that's all I need really
then I open my notes app.
edit: I opened my notes app and found this rotting from like a month ago I wheezed (I'm lying it ain't college it's uni they're like 19 for this)
Does anyone know where I can find the Monkees' commentary of Daydream Believers? I've looked everywhere, but all I can find is that clip I just reblogged of Peter being the pettiest bitch since six-year-old me and a few snippets on Sunshine Factory.
