Dazai

He sees his own misery inside of you, which he thinks is romantic. He thinks its beautiful that the two of you can understand each other's suffering in a way no one else can.

I don't think I need to state that while this is romantic in a literary sense, it's a major red flag

Dude would 100% want to do things that he thinks are "romantic" for couples to do together.

For example - murder-suicide, robbing stores together, double-suicide, arson, planning each other's funerals-

Man has a sick sense of romance and death

But he can be romantic!! Sometimes.

Despite being young he knows how to actually take care of his lover - at least in technicality

What he really enjoys, however, he has to suppress

That cold cold sick heart of his wants to isolate them, keep them away from everyone - but he knows that isn't really a human thing to do

So the type of lover he really is the kind of guy who can really only bond over either sex or when you're drunk/sad over the past

dude wouldn't even be able to have sex without crying or would have to do it in the dark, like he just gets too emotional and insecure

100% obsesses over your own trauma and will take any time he can to talk about it - but never his own

The world is cruel and predictable, especially with people like him. He hates someone having control over him, so he would only love someone if he chose to - which is fickle at best.

Yangs coping mechanisms always left much to be desired even pre arm-getting-horrifically- chopped-off-without-any-anesthetic-or-doctors-or-anything-just-horrible-and-painful incident girl grew up with 4 caretakers that ALL failed/traumatized her in different ways and then also had to deal with MONSTERS THAT ARE ATTRACTED TO NEGATIVE EMOTIONS in a forest in the middle of nowhere that’s FULL OF THEM

Like I obviously think Ruby’s childhood is a little more interesting to go into because she had 4 and 1/2 failure of caretakers however the one that did the best was terrible not for lack of trying to be good but for the terrible crime of being a child and thinking about how that affects her is super cool and interesting also the canonical way she seems to feel about them is just super fun but yangs my favorite and sometimes yangs more straightforward obvious trauma is even more fun to think about

Like there’s no way having to bare at least all of the emotional responsibility for a toddler didn’t cause constant panic attacks for baby Yang she probably had so many anxiety disorders like I know people without nearly as much responsibility over their younger siblings pushed onto them who still have reoccurring nightmares about their younger siblings getting hurt on their watch and constantly having to desperately keep them alive me included

Character opinion bingo on the biggest babygirl Scaramouche <3

OH OHHHHHH OOOHHHH MOUCHEY!!!!!!! My most beloved. My babygirl. My sweetheart. My therapy who I bite into because he is soft like mochi. \(//∇//)\ I am so not normal about him. He’s such a comfort character for me aaaaaa. >0< I love him a lot. He’s helped me through difficult times.

I would marry Wanderer in a heartbeat omg. I love him and the progress he’s making. My beloved is healing!!!! AAAAAAA 🥺 if it’s Fatui-era Scaramouche, I will respectfully decline his marriage proposal. He would be too scary and unhealthy for a relationship and that wouldn’t be very enjoyable for either side.

I love all of his designs for each of his eras. He slayed in all of them (sometimes in a literal sense, too…)!!! Everything about Scaramouche is so *chef’s kiss* the way that most of his betrayals were just misunderstandings that he couldn’t quite grasp, but despite the misunderstandings it still had quite an impact on him and led him down a terrible path. He is a character with so many intricacies. I love how he was written. It is such a heartbreaking past made even more sad when you realize Ei only wanted the best for him and wanted him to live his own life and discover things for himself, but Scara misinterpreted her actions. Although it is wrong that she did technically abandon him without saying anything. >_<

As much as I love his Fatui design and that era because it’s the first we saw of him way back in November 2020, he was most likely hurting in that era, even if he stifled any feelings he deemed useless or too human and instead chose to turn to cruelty as a way of pushing other emotions down.

Omg there is so much more I want to talk about, but I will spare you the lengthy rambles and analysis. ^^;;; overall, I love Scara a lot!!!! Seeing him in the most recent event was so much fun. My beloved has come so far. From his five minutes of screen time to now being playable and appearing in events... aaaaaa I adore him!!!!! >0<

AAAAAA i think i'm going insane about tcpootw... idk how i haven't found it earlier but i've reread it a few times since yesterday and it still hits. the slice of life vibes are thru the roof and i have never loved reading something that feels so mundane in my life more. it feels like freshly washed laundry in the way that i can really visualize and imagine your writing. the way cleo seems like she's moved on and she's healing with her new friends in her new city contrasted with bdubs still living in the home he remembers he always wanted to leave and the way they were horrible for each other but etho brings them back together for a single week but it's not like anything changes and i'm dying to just hear any thoughts about bdubs after. does he ever find it in him to work through his problems? does he ever talk (or not talk) with joel about it on the porch? or is he forcing himself to deal with it completely alone? is this man actually just going to ignore everything and just miss etho in silence and not talk with cleo and keep walking those trails and trees like they used to and driving an hour to get groceries on a tuesday and not taking care of himself until he breaks just like those bracelets on his wrist?

(also i love a good backstory, if you wanna share how they broke up, if it was fast, if it was expected, if it fell apart like they knew it wasn't going to last, i would appreciate hearing it :D)

AWWWWWWE, Thank you so much!! This fic means so much to me, genuinely. I started writing this as a way to deal with the emotions and struggles I face in my small town. I had the ending nailed down before anything, and it is so important to this story. Before I answer any of your questions, before you keep reading, I want you to sit back and imagine if this story ended with Bdubs opening up to Joel and them being besties, or if it ended with Cleo staying with no preperation to leave, or if Bdubs went back with her. It doesn't make sense, does it? It was just a week, not much changes in a week.

"Does he ever find it in him to work through the problems?" I don't actually have a future planned for them, but I see two possibilities laid out before me. The first being at Joel's hands, he takes the liberties to talk his issues out at Bdubs, to tell him every word Etho complained to him over and over while drunk one night. Bdubs is smaller in muscle and height, he can't body Joel out of his house and he's forced to sit there and listen to so many of his fuck ups spilled out to his face, no hesitation, and he sits and dwells on it. He's forced to reckon with it. He decides to get out. He won't work the same stupid little job and spend all his money on weed. (He doesn't know the cost of living in a city). He grabs a train ticket to the first city close enough to afford with what's in his wallet for the next day after he makes the decision, and he goes, and he learns, and he betters. But I don't really see that happening. This story is cynical, it's sad, it's bitter. I think, I think he doesn't. I think he falls further into substance abuse by the years, he stays broke, he keeps struggling, he doesn't own up to anything, and he doesn't grow. But the rest of his life, it is up to you. He can do what you want him to do.

All their discussions are purely things like splitting the garbage, or getting Joel to fix his car cheap when he's struggling for cash. I think a year or so down the line Joel finds a different town with a little mechanics shop that's willing to hire him, and he finds another little house to rent, and he lives his life away from the pain. He was settled with Etho, but he's restless without him. So no, I don't think they talk. I think there are very few times they end up on the porch together, and if they do, one finishes what they were doing quick.

"or is he forcing himself to deal with it completely alone?" He's not forcing himself to because it's not as conscious as that. He's dealing with it alone and he's burning the bridges, but he's not burning the bridges so that he can deal with it alone, he's burning the bridges because he isn't dealing with it. His hurt is hurting everyone near him and none of them care enough to deal with it. If he's going to be hostile or interfere or toxic or anything he's just going to get dropped. It's not an excuse for his behavior even if it's the reason, unconsciously.

I feel like at this point I've answered most of this. I just want to talk about the bracelets. So I really like your take on what the bracelets represent here. I left them open to your (the readers) interpretation on purpose. So keep letting them mean what they mean to you. I just want to discuss what they mean to you. The bracelets are intended to be those string friendship bracelets. Etho, Cleo, and Bdubs each got two, they were in the other persons assigned colors when they were made. Cleo's are long gone, she cut them off. Etho when he died still had the remains of Bdubs' in his winter jackets pocket cuz he never got around to throwing it out but he lost Cleo's when it broke roughly around a year after she moved. To me they represent holding on to something you dont have anymore. Bdubs still has his because he isn't the slightest bit moved on. Cleo cut hers off when she made plans to move because she was fully ditching them at that point. Etho's respectively represent giving up on ever getting Cleo back in his life, and not wanting Bdubs back but seeing him over and over and not quite moving on because of it.

He pulled blankets out of the closet and claimed the spare room while muttering. Cleo and Bdubs sat there staring at the hall for quite some time before Cleo turned to him and said she was done too. She pulled more blankets out of the hall closet and shoved them into Bdubs' chest, telling him he messed up the most and to go sleep on the couch, that he knows the state of her back. And he did. It was cold. But the breakup had been building since a month into the relationship. Cleo was fiercely independent, she didn't want them invading her space and her time, she'd spend it with them when she wanted to at the end of the day. Bdubs was far too dependent, showing up at their respective jobs with shitty food and staying too long and clinging to their sides, and complaining and worrying about what they were doing when they shooed him away, and at home all he did was talk to himself, talk over the other two. Cleo learned to talk over him. Etho learned to be even quieter. He developed three personalities. One was for cleo, where he left her alone until she sought him out and where he talked "honestly" when prompted, but only when prompted, where he knew her schedule but only showed up when she needed rides due to sudden weather change. One for bdubs where he was quiet, where he arranged his schedule to accommodate his "random" appearances, where he made him think he knew enough to never feel obligated to ask questions about him but to participate just enough for Bdubs to think it was a two sided conversation. And one for when all three of them were in the same area together. One where he was quiet, he was small, nothing about him existed until the other two stopped arguing and competeing for space. Which never happened but he said he'd take what was left over if it did. There was so much conflict its a miracle they lasted as long as they did (of course they did, Etho's parents were drunks, Bdubs' always fight, Cleo's stopped talking to her when she became to feminine, and expressed interest in being a girl, none of them knew what healthy was, they just knew theyd made some sort of commitment and they used to have fun, so they stuck around) but inevitably they all gave up.

I don't think reader themselves would realize the heart thing either since Cyno's the only one who knows/can remember the deal. So imagine after recovering and reconciling, they just go "I'm so happy, I've never been this happy before. But being with you again somehow made me feel like I got back a missing part of me."

All smiley while Cyno's so fucking horrified, inside his head he's actually asking so many questions, chanting bad things, and screaming at the spirit inside of him for an explanation. He was so tempted, actually it was the first thing in his mind, to leave again for once again hurting you. But then he realized it would hurt you again and he promised he'd protect you this time.

So instead he hugs them tightly, mumbling quiet sorrys, and they can't help but think he was exaggerating. And then he's openly sobbing before he could even stop it, because again, he just feels so alive with you around him. He's overwhelmed with this soul-crushing guilt and brimming love and joy.

You end up consoling him and saying sorry for making him emotional when you didn't mean to. He'll keep it a secret, he doesn't have to tell you when he's already doing all that he can to make up for it.

OK SO.

When he was eight, his father walked out on him and his mom. This actually started his stealing habit as despite being a “well behaved angel” to everyone, he needed to put his frustrated feelings into SOMETHING.

His mom collected tons of the old happy fella dolls. Sometimes he woke up to them on his bedside table holding suspiciously sharp knitting needles.

He wad kind of a pushover when it came to other kids, especially if it counted as him gaining a “friend” of some sort that ISNT his mom.

Speaking of his mom, she was very smothering towards him, Imagine that ginger girl from the looney toons who kept a lot of pets. That’s how his mom acted towards him.

Not to mention if we include werewolf stuff, I think it surfaced after his dad left as the pent up emotions helped it fully develop.

When he turned 16, things got Even worse, and his mom kicked him out just for her to pass away a few weeks later. He still doesn’t know what he did wrong.

He met thin thief during this time period. He was kind of an asshole at first to him, but he kept FT around because he was good at snatching stuff unnoticed.

FT got to stay with him in a cramped fraternity house as a.. “bonus”. The other guys there were not kind to him.

at one point, some college guys beat him up. TT tried defending him but they both ended up bruised and beaten

FT also got taken to the manner when he turned 18 and almost indoctrinated into the cult, he still has an amulet he wears under his sweater, but he doesn’t know what it means really. TT was the one who got him out of the manor

He has a vivid memory of TT comparing him to the show happy fella, “Big, Loud, and you Never Shut up!” (This was earlier in their friendship, TT regrets it so much.)

FT would break if TT ended up telling him to kick rocks, because he’s the only friend— hell, family, he has at this point, not to mention FT definitely has feelings for him

TT fixes up FTs sweater when it rips, he can sew.

oh and one more brainworm i had sdfklj like i thought about mc when you mentioned them and how theyre like just vibing with qiu and tamarack in golden grove and i think that like,,,,one of the differences that makes them and jamie/frankie different is that they dont have the continued experience of baxter just slipping through their fingers all the time, with cove he was always there, he was a constant for them. jamie/frankie constantly fears losing the person they love the most and always ending up alone, while mc doesnt have that inherent fear. i really can see mc having told cove that they would always look for him at the end of watching that play at the theater and they absolutely mean it and they hold onto that tiny hope somewhere in them that even though they feel like something is off or missing that they will find it, they just have to keep trying (if they have the shell/friendship bracelet too this also helps i think in reassurance that what they feel inside isnt just their imagination, it isnt just a dream) - 🕐

whereas mc!1 is always filling themselves w baxter. being with him, touching him, doing things for him. just making everything about him, consuming him and everything he is because he's everything they've been missing and what's making them feel whole, he's what they've been looking for and they're going to make sure they never feel empty ever again.

Finally completed both the Team Star & Titans storyline of SV…

… and I am feeling so many EMOTIONS.

Aaaaaa I don’t know what to say!! Both storylines were so sad but had such good resolutions! Now, onto the Pokemon League route before endgame could be tackled (my SO says most people have finished the game & IK I’m pretty slow with games ;~;).

Something I did save though were all my Titan victories! I’ll put them under a page break so the Tiran victory pics won’t be spoiled for anyone!!!

But wow. All I can say is wow.

3. If your oc could change one thing about their appearance, what would they change and why ?

Ellis - Ellis would like to say that she wouldn’t really want to change much about herself! She’s happy about how she looks and couldn’t think of changing it! However, she does have those days where she wishes she was taller or prettier or have one of those faces just made someone immediately fall in love with her. Other than days like that, she’s very content with her being!

14. What does your oc's voice sound like and what is their accent like?

Ellis - I feel like Ellis has a slightly higher more sweet sounding voice! Her voice is pretty easy on the ears! She adores to sing so she knows when to not strain her voice! I made her voice claim Asami Seto and Cherami Leigh (with Kaho Nakamura and Kylie McNeil for singing) I chose Asami Seto because I adore Nobara and she was a huge inspiration for Ellis’s character and personality! Originally, I made Sarah Miller-Crews the English voice actor for Ellis but over time, I started to really love the idea of Cherami Leigh as Ellis’ voice actor! I just feel like her voice fits her very well! Her singing voice has a shorter story. I saw the movie “BELLE” and I loved the voice actor for the main character!

22. Does your oc cry easily? What are some things they would cry about?

Ellis - Ellis used to be a massive cry baby as a child but now that she’s older and more mature, she doesn’t cry as much. Ellis definitely has a good cry once in a while but there are days where she’s more prone to crying more easily. She’s an emotional person and really wear her heart on her sleeve. Some of the things that Ellis cries about range from a sad movie, her friends having trouble, and many other things.

seeing dottore's cutscene in the archon quest absolutely reawakened my thirst for him 😭 i had to sit there for about 20 minutes, mildly stunned, after he showed up because i was like "omgomgomgomg it's him!!!" and just in general losing my mind

The hype was so real omg!!! As soon as I saw him, I went through a range of many emotions. It was such a good scene and I loved how Nahida was quick to protect the people of Sumeru! :D

And then we got the Scaramouche cut scene!!!!!! OOOOOOOOHHHH T_T it had me speechless and sad and aaaaaa!!! Both of those scenes were amazing and I really enjoyed seeing Dottore in-game and Scaramouche again. We are so blessed to get both of them in one quest. orz
