So! I finished my first playthrough of Andromeda Six a couple days ago and I enjoyed it a lot! I had a lot of fun going through the story and I'm really excited for the next chapter even if it's probably gonna be a while till it's out-

I really wanted to ramble about the game here on tumblr so I thought that just for fun I could make a list about what I liked and didn't like about the game! The list will be under the cut :)

DISCLAIMER Just in case: This is in no way meant to be some objective/critical review about the game this is literally just meant to be me rambling my opinion sooo don't take this too seriously. Also story spoilers!!!

Alright the things I liked!!:

The Main Story: I'm a sucker for fun space sci-fi adventures with spcaeships and planets and aliens etc etc especially when the main characters are a group of vagabond rouges (with found family sprinkled in :>) so that was an immediate eye catcher for me. Also the fact that the plot is a "Lost heir has to take back the throne" type deal was really cool too, a little cliche? sure but I never take that as a bad thing

The Characters: Pretty much every single character was a delight to see in action, June was probably my favourite character out of everyone (even though I didn't play his route lmao-) followed closely behind by Vexx and Damon. The entire A6 crew were so fun to watch interact and talk and I always found myself wanting to see more of them. The only character I could say I didn't like was Zane, but everyone else was really fun!

The Art: Not much to say here, the arts just really nice, I wanna see if I can find the main artist on social media somewhere. The backgrounds especially are beautifully done

The 'Nerissa is Alive!!' reveal: After looking through the tags for A6 I saw that this specific plot twist was a bit of a hot topic among the fandom so I thought I'd share my opinion on it too. For the most part, I liked the reveal! I mainly love the fact that the reveal gives way to more drama regarding the MC and their future and how they can decide if they want to immediately revert back to their status as royalty and work alongside their older sister to restablish the monarchy, or decide they think the monarchy was kindas shitty even when Zovack wasn't in charge and they'd rather get to be their own person with the A6 crew. I'm really hoping that choosing to do the latter (which is what I did) leads to a lot of tension between the MC and Nerissa, possibly even a huge fight (Siblings to enemies even?? that would be amazing imo). Overall I think the plot twist could lead to a lot of cool stuff and I'm eager to see what Wanderlust Games does with it

And now onto things I didn't like:

Some of the Writing: Yeah... Honestly even though I enjoyed the game and it's story there's a couple things about the writing I didn't like that much. I won't list everything I found iffy but my biggest gripe is that the game has a lot of tell don't show, don't get me wrong I'm no writing master and it's not the worst thing in the world, but the moments where the characters would just info dump their entire life story in a conversation kinda irked me a bit, I wish we could learn the characters individual stories in a different way

The Pacing: I get that this is a small team limited to a 10 chapter story but tbh I wish the story could've moved just a tad bit slower so we could spend more time in each planet since it feels way too quick and we get limited to only seeing one small part of an entire planet. I also understand that there were probably both out of story and in story reasons as the why we only got to spend such a short amount of time on certain planets, but still, I just kinda wish we got to stay in one place for a bit longer

The Character Design: Okay, so for the most part I think the character designs are all pretty good, I like the clothes and how everyone feels very distinct from one another, overall the game has good character design. It's just that... in my opinion... the designs for the alien species..... are SO DAMN BORING!! The Tilaari I think looks fine even if I think they'd look more interesting if they had at least one alien feature like extra eyes or horns or something, other than that though they look fine. The Kithalpha though... oh my god.... I went into the game reading the description and expecting to see some cool mix of fish and human but instead I get the most bland alien design ever, it's literally just a human but with gills! I didn't even notice there were Kithalpha characters!!!! The game had to tell me that Ayame and the green guy were Kithalpha!!! Other than that I would've never known!!! And that's terrible!!!! (Not to mention that if I'm remembering correctly the game doesn't even say once that Vexx was part Kithalpha, I had to find that out from the Dev's twitter) I'm not even saying that they had to look like some monster alien creature of the black lagoon type thing but the Kithalpha characters couldve had just something anything that made them more distinct! Give them fins or scales or a tail heck ANYTHING FISH RELATED!!!! THEYRE DESCRIBED AS HUMANOID CREATURES WITH THE ABILITY TO ADAPT TO THEIR ENVIRONMENT BUT WE JUST GOT HUMAN + GILLS????? I was so dissatisfied with how boring the Kihtalpha looked that I actively gave my MC more inhuman features despite them being a Kithalpha, fuck the canon Kithalpha look my MC's gonna be a special little snowflake and the devs can't stop me

And Lastly, The 'Nerissa is Alive!' Reveal: So... Yeah. While I do like the twist itself cause of the possibilities, I'm gonna be honest I do agree that the set-up/execution was pretty shit. I don't wanna harp on this too much because this can be fixed as the game updates and gets completed, but still the twist ends up making things feel confusing or downright pointless in hindsight. My biggest annoyance was how literally in the episode right before the reveal we literally get a whole explanation from Vexx describing how he shot and killed Nerissa, like he literally told us how he held the body and saw all the blood but then one episode later surprise Nerissa is doing just fine, there's not even an explanation as to how she survived that (I think I read somewhere that apparently the devs said she was shot through the heart?? Idk if that's true but if it is I- How the fuck did she survive that????) we're just told that K just took her and dipped. Again, this is stuff that can be fixed later on, but it's still kinda annoying

Aaaaand that's about it! Again, don't take this as a critical review, despite my gripes with the game I do still genuinely enjoy it

I'm probably gonna ramble about the game some more in the future, mainly about my MC cause damn did I fall in love with and hyperfixate on him so hard as I was playing. Honestly I'm kinda inspired to create a mini rewrite of the story from my MC's proper perspective without the VN's limitations kinda like how the tumblr account andromedasix did that with their MC

she is pretty. she won't have much confidence for awhile but had a pretty soft/gentle vibe which leans into her getting the nickname 'mouse' from Zane right away

Her hair tends to catch eyes the most. it's just... theres a lot of it and it looks so fluffy and soft. no you can't touch it

Usually, yes. She favors floral scents and has an underlying summery scent

Her speaking voice isn't exceptional, but her singing voice is lovely with a smooth, lower register

She really tried to play the field once upon a time and she wasn't a fan. She's very loyal when in a relationship and i could actually see her entering a poly relationship with the right people.

Confidence is big for Katiya: she doesn't have much of it herself and other's confidence will rub off on her, so it's a little selfish on top of being attractive.

Nice arms (ones that could pick her up and man-handle her perhaps)

She sure tries. Her current partner, Damon, has a talent for catching her off guard and flustering her so she hasn't had a lot of practice.

Leans to physical touch and meaningful looks as a flirting tactic. But is pretty good at manipulating people so ends up being better at it then expected, even with words.

💋 : Is your OC a good kisser? How do they do it?

Yes, b/c i want her to be. Overall, she's pretty adaptive to her partner. Is usually soft, lingering, and eventually involves lip biting.

🦴 : Does your OC have much sexual experience? What are they like?

Not tons of experience. Before Vexx showed up at the castle she tried taking a page out of Arlo and Celest's books, and tried hooking up a few times. It wasn't good for her: all parties had been drinking and she never got off with any of these people.

She and Vexx on the other hand were horny idiots and she never knew sex could be actually good. so by the time she gets to the A6, she has a decent amount of experience

Very much a submissive bottom, it's not hard to get her to beg, can be surprisingly pliant when it comes to orders, and is open to experimentation

She will likely never admit this outside of a sexual situation so it's a fun little surprise

Katiya prefers subtle PDA: holding hands, holding on to each other, pecks. She prefers to be touching her partner almost all the time when they're together.

Uhh with help. She's never planned a date.

She has no idea how to do this. She's been courted before and did not like the experience. However, her first instinct is to get/make some food that her partner likes, her cooking skills are very basic right now though.

Her love language is physical touch though, so she will lean into that

Both usually, while in the palace at least. She had access to enough money she could get high quality undergarments that were also very pretty. even now when she has less selection, she prefers to wear pretty undergarments.

Your A6 headcanons are a lot of fun to read, and I have another request, if that's okay?

How do you think (whoever you are comfortable writing for, and the more the merrier!) would react to a traveler who shares the same name as someone from their past, both good and bad (if you don't mind)?

I’m glad to hear you enjoy them you have no idea how happy it makes me to hear that. I don’t mind someone making multiple requests although I may complete them at a slow rate, mainly for motivation reasons and IRL stuff going on I’m hoping to get back in the groove of things.

Calderon

Good Case

- His first interaction with you won’t change even with the similarity of names. He doesn’t associate people by names but their actions, but later on, when you gain a positive influence on him he might be reminded of the person of the past. 

- Generally, he won’t pay much attention to it unless you have similar behavior as the previous person. He won’t put himself in a delusion that you are that person, you are you and that’s all that matters to him.

Bad Case   

- Your first interaction will go a bit rougher than it’s supposed to be, it gives him even less reason to trust you since you might betray him as that person had done in the past.

- When he gets to know you better he puts that all aside for the fact that he truly does love and cares about you and nothing can change that even with the similarity of names.

Damon

       Good Case 

- It depends who you share a name with. ;) If you have a name with a past lover of his he’ll probably make some joking comments when he flirts with you. The comments are mainly for joking reasons and not for the literal sense of him only being into you cause you share a name. (That’s weird even for Damon.)

- Will you having a name similar to someone close to him make him like you more?

- No, he doesn’t care and a name won’t give you bonus points on his opinion of you.

 Bad Case

- He doesn’t really associate people he dislikes with their names but instead their personality. To him, a name is a name and is something that can always be changed for all he cares. You could change your name to Richard, Sock, or Emilia and he wouldn’t care.

- He’s more likely to dislike you if start acting like a certain someone (Zane) he’s not on good terms with. (If would be quite difficult though)

Vexx

Good Case

- He met you while on a mission for Zovack where he would basically have to betray you at the end. He honestly tried hard to not connect you with the person you shared a name knowing if he started associating you with a person he cares about it wouldn’t end well.

- He’d try to find significant differences between the two of you or just try to not call you by your name and instead use a formality. (It clearly didn’t work)

Bad Case

- When he found out that he was gonna your personal guard he was quite pleased mainly since your name association would work out better for him mentally, and he could convince himself that you’re most likely just as (if not more) horrible than the person with the same name.

- It ends up not working in his favor because a few months you’re looking in his direction while waving your hand at him with a pleased look on your face. His heart skips a beat and his only thought is,

- “Oh fuck…”

Andromeda Six Left 4 Dead AU

I got like 5 notes on the post asking if people are interested in an andromeda six left 4 dead au so here it is jdskfskdjf featuring messy scribbles and extreme self indulgence

Basic Premise

Before the apocalypse: Fenris was the CEO of some big company, so he, his wife, his two girlfriends and their kids were there living in some big, walled up house. When the infection broke out, they were essentially isolated in the house and Fenris just kept doing his work online and not caring about the people that were dying and turning. Zovack was the CEO of another company and Vexx was some sort of liaison. Vexx visited the Peg’asi home in person, but was a carrier (asymptomatic). He infected them all except Traveler.

Apocalypse: In a more canon compliant version, Traveler runs and ends up knocked out by a Charger (or something) and is picked up by a group of survivors, the A6. That’s all great but the version I find more entertaining is: Traveler ends up alone in their huge, fairly self sufficient house. Fenris had intended to stay there instead of evacuating like most, so he’d had things like solar panels put in. Someone living there could survive fairly well on their own without lacking too many basic supplies, so Traveler starts taking in survivors and functioning as a safe house of a sort. 

Ayame and Calderon are the first of the LIs to appear. They show up in the middle of a horde, Cal heavily injured and Aya barely able to keep them both standing, banging on the gate to be let in. Traveler takes them in and tends to Cal’s wounds as best they can, but the two of them have to stay for a while as he heals. By the time he’s fully capable again, it seems like it would make more sense for them to just stay. Traveler does need help taking care of the house, after all.

Later, Calderon becomes the de facto leader of their growing group and Aya (and Damon and June) goes on supply runs. (zombies run inspired? no of course not what are you talking about)

Damon is the next to arrive, fully intending to just get a night’s sleep in a real bed (instead of the concrete safe room floors) and be gone by the next morning, but the temptation of a semi reliable food source and water that you don’t have to filter yourself is too tempting and he ends up staying another night. And another. It doesn’t take too long for the three already living there to recognize his skill in combat and offer him a place to stay permanently. He agrees in the knowledge that he can leave whenever he wants.

It’s a little while between Damon and June’s arrivals. The four of them already living there have a fairly solid dynamic established and don’t necessarily need another person to keep their safe house running. Then, June shows up, devastated by the sudden loss of his brother to the infection and needing a place to stay for a while to recover. His strength and skill with a gun is clear and it’s Aya who suggests that he stays permanently.

While on a supply run, June finds Bash fighting for his life in the middle of a horde, still unaccustomed to swinging and shooting with only one arm. Together, they escape and make it relatively unscathed to the next safe room. June mentions the safe house he lives in, closer than the next safe room, more comfortable, and if Bash doesn’t have anywhere he needs to be, probably the best place to go if the swarms are this bad right now. Bash agrees. While he’s there, he notices that one of their emergency generators is out and offers to fix it. Seeing his skill, the others immediately ask if he would want to stay.

Later, Ryona appears at the safe house, having just lost every one of the friends she was traveling with to a group of violent raiders. She was able to hide, but she was the only one. When Bash had lost his arm, she was the one who found him and patched him up so when he recognizes her he immediately offers her a place to stay, too.

Side characters:

Oppo runs a trading outpost. Without a standardized currency system, they are able to effectively scam the majority of their customers. They have wares that are almost impossible to find anywhere else, however, and if one knows how to deal with them they can be very helpful.

Alisa and Zane are the leaders of the two rival gangs struggling for control over a city not far from the one Traveler’s house is in. Without a reliable method of keeping the infected out of their territory, they and their respective gangs have become very good at fighting.

Voice Lines

I also wrote out some example L4D voice lines for the LIs and drew them hurt to go with the lines. I intended to just quickly slap some color on them but ended up putting WAY more effort into it than I had to lmao. swear words censored because tumblr really likes to hide posts i swear in

Critically hurt lines:

Aya:

- Guys, don’t leave me behind

- I can’t die... can’t leave them behind...

- Sh*t, I’m too pretty to die...

- Anyone got a medkit for me?

- I gotta keep going...

- I’m gonna die. I’m gonna die.

Ryona:

- Huff... it looks like I could use some help this time...

- Is there any kingsfoil around? I really need it, unless someone still has a medkit

- No, I need to keep going, need to show them...

- (someone else: Hey, you need help) No, no, you need to keep your medkit for yourself

Damon:

- I’ll crawl my way back out of hell if I have to

- I ain’t gonna die because of something like this...

- If anyone has a medkit, now would be a great time to let me know

- F*ck, I’m not dying!

Bash:

- This really, really hurts...

- Anyone up to carry me to the safe room? heh...

- Wait, everyone, I can’t go too fast right now

- This isn’t it, not after everything...

June:

- I will not let this kill me

- This is... this really hurts...

- I’m sorry, I don’t know if I can make it

- I need help, please

Cal:

- Goddamn it, I don’t know how much longer I’ll be standing

- If I die here, I need you all to do as Damon says. He’ll get you to safety.

- Listen to me. If I go down, you all have to go on without me.

- Does anyone have a medpack?!

Zombies

No Left 4 Dead AU is complete without deciding what type of infected the characters would be! Here’s what I got:

Conclusion
