a3! | juza hyodo as your boyfriend...
part 1. part 2.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
he cannot believe it at first
how could someone as kind and well-loved as you choose someone as intimidating and reserved as him? he can’t wrap his head around what you could possibly see in him
it takes a lot of words of affirmation to finally convince juza that he is so much more than he thinks
it saddens you that someone as hard-working and deeply involved in the company as juza could still doubt himself. he always says that he wished he could do more for mankai company, but to you he already does more than enough. although it took him some time to perfect his acting, his passion on stage inspires all the other actors to do their very best and mesmerises the audience
whenever he gets too stressed or pushes himself too hard, you offer him pastries and a long, soothing hug. you have him take breaks and go outside so that when he gets back, he feels a little lighter and more energized to resume his work
to thank you for your unwavering support, he invites you on surprise dates or takes you for a ride on his motorcycle. because juza isn’t the best at expressing his emotions, his love language is acts of service and he always makes sure to be available when you also need his help
when it is you who gets too anxious, he will hold you tightly and listen to you vent about the issue at hand. he will try to offer you words of comfort, but his primary course of action is to help solve the problem at the root
he gets more demonstrative over time, holding your hand in the streets or kissing you on the cheek in public. he is really proud of you and your relationship, but his fear of staining your reputation because of his scary looks holds him back from displaying affection more openly
in private, he is the sweetest. juza is self-conscious about his clumsy use of words, so he makes up for it by showing you love through physical touch and sharing his favourite snacks with you
he won’t say it out loud, but juza melts when it’s you who wraps him in your arms or hugs him from behind. being held is something new to him, and it feels so special, almost a sacred moment - before that, most of the physical contact he had with people was blocking punches or trying not to hurt anyone, so someone lovingly and willingly touching him moves him beyond reason. when you run your fingers through his hair and kiss his neck, his deep and raucous sighs speak louder than words
juza is straightforward and honest so he doesn’t shy away from telling you how grateful he is for you - especially when he is drunk. after a couple of drinks, he will look even more serious than usual, save for the tinge of redness blooming on his cheeks, and say the most heart-wrenching things about how you make him a better man and he wants to guard your happiness forever
he comes to you for help whenever he struggles with the interpretation of a line or wants to try out different acting techniques. reading lines together and acting out scenes is one of your favourite activities to do together, so you happily give him a hand with case studies or character analysis. if the scene involves yelling or violence, juza will apologise and make an effort to be extra affectionate with you when you’re done
you wave at him from the front row and offer him flowers after his plays - banri teases him about it, but juza can’t stop smiling and shrugs it off by telling banri that he’s just jealous. juza feels incredibly lucky to have you by his side
kumon adores you and plans family activities that you can join in. because they know juza so well, he and muku can notice the way his face lights up whenever you’re around
omi often asks juza and you to help him with baking because he guessed that juza has a sweet tooth and you find cooking relaxing. juza likes to taste the sugary ingredients just to make sure that they haven’t turned sour and are still good to eat, which always makes omi and you laugh because you can easily see through his excuses
although he is still a little bashful about his voice, you love to hear juza sing. knowing that you appreciate his singing is a huge motivation for juza to overcome his shyness and find the confidence to sing on stage
he is an attentive listener. it makes him happy that you trust him enough to confide in him, but he also enjoys listening to you talk about your hobbies and your current interests. he remembers many details about them and is never against watching something with you or looking up something you’ve been reading online. you do so much for him, so he wants to be equally there for you and
the two of you have a lot of fun together. although juza appears stoic and still has many insecurities to work through, having you by his side never fails to brighten up his days and fill his heart with joy. when you are hanging out, he smiles a lot more and is less apologetic about his behaviour, even cracking jokes from time to time (he feels like it’s awkward, but you find it exceptionally endearing). he hopes that you feel fulfilled, so he always offers you a shoulder to cry on when you’re feeling down or does his best to make you smile. he wants to learn all about your preferences and passions so that he can fully enter your world
most of all, he just wishes for you to be happy and safe. he has never been loved like this before and he wants to do everything in his power to reciprocate your love with as much force and sincerity

Title: Sheltered Winter Pairing: Tsuzuru Minagi x reader | A3! Rating: Teen C/Ws: gender-neutral reader, domestic fluff, established relationship, flustered Tsuzuru, Christmas fluff, they all enjoy teasing Tsuzuru Requested by @emilycollins00 <;3 Summary: Christmas arrives right after Tsuzuru and you have started dating, and Kazunari decides it’s the best time to invite you to spend time at Mankai – without Tsuzuroon knowing. Word count: 3k A/N: I hope you can enjoy this as a belated present for Reyes, Emi! I had a lot of fun writing this and I hope you have just as much fun (if not more) reading it <3
Also, Christmas is used here in a general way, it doesn’t have to be the 25th.
Fog clung to the walls of buildings, blurring the skyline of the city. It was cold, but it was a good type of cold. It was Christmas, when it seems that winter isn’t so harsh, and the lights accentuate the beauty of the season. You tried to snuggle further into the scarf around your neck, but it wasn’t enough. Even then, the thought of your destination kept you warm somehow.
You were going to see Tsuzuru. And not just that, but you were going to spend Christmas with him. It felt like a dream, and you felt giddy and excited. It hadn’t passed that much time since you had last seen each other but seeing him in those circumstances felt extra special. Specifically, because you had only begun dating recently. That contributed to the feeling of walking inside a dream. You couldn’t quite believe it, but you knew that soon it would all feel real. The wide smile that spread on your face couldn’t be covered by the scarf.
Receiving the invitation to spend Christmas at Mankai had surprised you, since it came from Kazunari, but you hadn’t thought much about it. You had known him for a long time since you had friends in common, but it hadn’t been until you went to see one of the plays he starred in, that you met Tsuzuru. For some reason, Kazunari had insisted on introducing you and your friends to all the members of Mankai that were present, and that’s when you found out Tsuzuru wasn’t just an actor, but that he wrote the scripts for the plays too. You chatted with him a bit, and soon enough you two connected through your passion for writing and reading. It could’ve been a one-time thing, meeting a kindred spirit and then parting, but it was not. Tsuzuru texted you the title of a book he had mentioned to you – thanks to Kazunari for being the bridge that once again connected you, this time technologically – and you entered Tsuzuru’s world.
And that world came with every single member of Mankai.
You had spent countless times backstage, congratulating the troupe on their plays, and Tsuzuru on the script. You had even spent evenings at the dorms, hanging out with Kazunari and some of the others. But now, it was different.
Now you were spending time at Mankai as Tsuzuru’s partner. Not just a friend, but so much more.
As you approached the dorms, you wondered if you should text Tsuzuru or simply ring the bell. You weren’t sure who would open it, and as much as you wanted to think you were on good terms with many of his fellow actors, you still weren’t as comfortable as you would’ve liked. So you opted for the safer option.
<Tsuzu, I’m at the door.>
It wasn’t long until a message popped on your screen.
<What door?>
You looked around, trying to figure out if there was supposed to be more than one door to the dorms, even if you had always gotten inside through the one you were standing on.
<The entrance door?>
<You’re at the dorms?>
<Yes, I was coming today, don’t you remember?>
You saw his status change from typing to online and then change again. It made your stomach act up.
Meanwhile, Tsuzuru seemed to have started an impromptu gymnastics session. He jumped from the chair he was sitting on, typed and deleted a million questions, and ultimately decided to rush to the bathroom to check his appearance before opening the door.
He had no idea why you were there, but couldn’t bring himself to ask in the end. Had it been his mistake? Had you two made plans beforehand? Because of the way you had phrased it, it didn’t seem you had simply decided to surprise him.
He combed his hair a few times and straightened his hoodie, and then the butterflies appeared. He was going to see you. You were there.
When he opened the door, you greeted him with a smile and a shiver.
“I’m so sorry, you must be so cold, come in quickly.” He instinctively reached for your arm, pulling you inside. The contact lit a fire inside you, melting the cold that was biting at your skin.
“So, what were you doing?” You asked while taking off your shoes.
“Oh, just seeing what new plays were happing around. Fieldwork.” He put his hands inside his hoodie’s pocket and looked at you from behind.
“You want to go see some plays?”
“Yeah, I figured I can also study scriptwriting by seeing the actual performances, not just reading scripts and books.” He shrugged, even if you couldn’t see it. “Want to come with?”
You turned around and flashed him a wide smile. Tsuzuru couldn’t even hear your answer from the waves your reaction had created in him.
“Ah! You’re here!” Kazunari’s voice echoed in the entrance.
Tsuzuru turned around, facing Kazunari. It didn’t take long for him to put two and two together. Tsuzuru sighed, unable to do anything else. But instead of feeling defeated by Kazunari’s ideas, he felt grateful. You were here now.
“You can leave your things in Tsuzuroon’s room.” Kazunari addressed you. “You haven’t seen it yet if I’m not mistaken. And I’m sure you’re extra hyped for it.”
“Hey!” Tsuzuru couldn’t help but grumble. His room was a mess and there was no way he wanted you to see that. Kazunari should’ve given him a heads-up at least!
“Honestly, I do want to see your room.” You looked at Tsuzuru, standing up and finally properly entering the dorms. He didn’t really have any other options. Tsuzuru sighed again, closing his eyes.
“Okay, but just give me a couple of minutes.”
“Ohh, is there something you want to hide, Tsuzuroon?”
The glare Tsuzuru shot him petrified Kazunari. It wasn’t the first time he joked around with him, but it was the first time he saw him reacting in such a way.
“I’ll keep y/n company until you come back, so no need to worry!”
“That’s exactly what I’m worried about.”
You laughed and Tsuzuru’s face seemed to soften a little.
“I’ll come back quickly.” He searched for any signs of discomfort in your eyes, but he only found calmness. Once he disappeared down the corridor, you sat down on the sofa next to Kazunari.
“So it was your idea.” You looked at Kazunari, and he quickly understood what you meant.
“I wanted to WOW Tsuzuroon. You know the word vacay doesn’t really exist in his vocabulary.” There was nothing you could say to that, even if you knew he could’ve gone about other ways with the plan. “And you haven’t been here in a while.”
“Yeah, since before we started dating,” you muttered, more to yourself than to him. “Have you missed m—”
“You’re dating?” Kazunari interrupted you, chuckling to himself. “Man, I did all this to bring you closer!” He leaned further into the sofa, bringing his hands behind his head. “You didn’t need my help at all, did ya?”
You felt a needle pinching at your stomach. It had only been recently that you two started going out together, that’s why…
“I should’ve picked up on the clues, though. Tsuzuroon has been casually mentioning you every now and then.” Kazunari’s words calmed down the dark spiral that had begun forming in your head. “He also–”
“Okay,” Tsuzuru’s voice could be heard from the corridor. “You can come now.”
“We’ll leave this convo for another time.” Kazunari winked at you, and you giggled. He had managed to distract you and now you were more relaxed than before. You were glad you had a friend like him.
You quickly followed Tsuzuru to his room, glad that you hadn’t taken off your coat yet. You could see your breath as you crossed the courtyard. He turned around a couple of times while walking you there, and you exchanged smiles. You felt giddy.
“Masumi isn’t here now, so you can relax.” He said while closing the door after you.
You remembered him from the plays.
“He’s away visiting his family for the holidays?” You asked while removing your coat and scarf. Tsuzuru promptly took them from you and placed them on top of his coats on the hanger on his side of the room.
“He’s out with Izumi and some of the other guys that haven’t gone back home.” You started casually looking around the room and walked closer to his desk to see the books that were piling up there. There, something surprised you.
“You printed this picture!” You pointed at the photograph hanging from his wall, among quotes from plays and novels.
It was a picture of you two, smiling bashfully at the camera. It had been the first selfie you had taken together, and it showed. But you adored that picture.
“Yeah,” Tsuzuru bridged the distance between you two. “Omi was going to print some photographs and I asked him to print this one for me.” Tsuzuru stared at the picture in an attempt to calm his nerves. Having you in his room was doing things to him. Then, his eyes accidentally roamed over his shelves. “Oh! I need to give you your gift.” He picked up a package wrapped in gift wrapping from above. “I can’t believe I almost forgot.” He giggled, and you felt the urge to hug him. Even if you hadn’t talked about it, you two had bought a gift for the other. You felt comforted by the connection that action proved.
Tsuzuru offered the gift to you, and you two sat down on his bed. It was heavy and sturdy like a book, and you didn’t waste any time, quickly tearing the paper.
“What!” You gasped without peeling your eyes from the cover. “It’s the book adaptation of that series!” You looked at Tsuzuru, surprise, awe and confusion all mixing on your face.
“You looked so happy talking about that series, that I thought…” He smiled looking into your eyes.
“I love it!” You hugged him impulsively, trying to show your emotions. He hugged you back, the book you were holding with one hand still between you. “Ah! I also have something for you.” You let go of him, put down the book and went to your coat, searching the pockets. “Here.” You walked back to the bed, offering him the small gift.
He smiled widely, unable to contain his joy. When he finally ripped the paper and opened the small box, his smile widened even more.
“Wow, I—” he looked at you, speechless.
“Do you like it?”
“Of course I do! It’s wonderful.” He looked back at the box in his hands, containing the bracelet you had chosen. It was a thin chain with a small metallic quill. “Can you put it on for me?” You took it from the box, and he pulled his sleeve back, offering you his wrist. When you finished tying it for him, he quickly interlaced his fingers with yours, preventing you from pulling away. “Thank you.”
“I’m glad you like it. I thought it could maybe offer you some support while you write.” You squeezed his hand, emphasizing your point. “And I love your gift, I can’t wait to start reading it.”
“I’m glad.” Tsuzuru’s features softened, and you felt his fingertips running over your knuckles. “Although I don’t want you going home any time soon, so that’ll have to wait.” A playful smile appeared on his lips, and you slowly leaned forward until you were only a few inches apart. He also leaned in, and you joined in a sweet peck.
A kiss that was soon interrupted by the loud sound of furniture being dragged around in another room. It startled you and you pulled away. Embarrassed by your reaction, you looked away, trying to hide your expression from Tsuzuru.
“Are you hungry? I can make us something quick to eat.” He left the box and torn wrapping paper to the side and stood up, tugging your hand.
“Oh, I’m fine, thank you.” You looked at him again.
“Let’s get something to drink, then.”
You stood up and made to let go of his hand, but he didn’t. He kept holding your hand while leaving his room, walking down the corridor to the kitchen. It made you nervous, shy and excited all at once, but more than anything it filled your heart with warmth.
“Oh, hello there.” When you reached the kitchen, a voice greeted you.
“Azuma, I thought you said work got busier during this season.” Tsuzuru looked slightly taken aback.
“Is that your way of telling me I’m not welcome?” He giggled, looking at your intertwined hands. “And who is the kindred soul?”
You had seen Azuma before in the Winter Troupe’s plays, but you had never actually spoken to him, so you quickly introduced yourself.
“Nice to meet you. I hope to be seeing you around here more often.” He gave you a smooth smile, and you wondered how many people had succumbed to that charm.
“I can make us some milkshakes if you want?” Tsuzuru let go of your hand and turned around to face you, to gain back some of the privacy that had been lost due to Azuma’s presence.
“I see you’re trying to show off here.” But his presence wasn’t something that could be forgotten so easily.
“Wha—, no, I’m not!” Tsuzuru quickly looked over at you. “Okay, maybe a little bit…” He owned up to it, surprising you.
“Nothing to be ashamed of, Tsuzuru.” He continued teasing, finding enjoyment in seeing how nervous the usually stoic writer could get. “I can also see why this is the first time I’ve met y/n. You don’t want anyone else taking them away from you, huh?”
“Azuma!” Tsuzuru blushed furiously. He felt humiliated and uncool, exactly the opposite of what he wanted to show you. He only dared to look at you for a second, in which meeting your intense gaze didn’t help to calm him down. To try to distract himself, Tsuzuru went to the cupboards and started taking out a couple of mugs. “I can make us some hot chocolate or coffee or something.”
“I’d love a hot chocolate, but it hasn’t been that long since I had lunch,” you hesitated out loud.
“How about making it a milkshake?”
“Make it three,” Azuma quickly added.
“What were you in the kitchen for?” Tsuzuru sighed, suggesting that he should make his own drink, but he still took out another mug from the cupboard.
“You make a great reluctant big brother, Tsuzuru.” Azuma observed him with a placid smile. You decided to move away to not be a bother to Tsuzuru and sat down next to Azuma. “Do you have siblings, y/n?”
That’s how the questions started – where did you met each other, did you see their plays, what was your favourite – while Tsuzuru worked on making the best milkshakes he remembered from one of his part-time jobs. You started feeling comfortable and wondered if there would be more days like this one in the future. Days where you spend time with Tsuzuru at home, and time seems to slow down.
After giving the whipped cream on top the final touch with some ground cinnamon, he handed you the beverages and sat down. You were all savoring your drinks when Azuma decided to stop drinking.
“What do you like about Tsuzuru?”
Sitting beside you, he seemed to choke on the milkshake and coughed a couple of times.
“Enough!” He was still whipping his mouth with a napkin when he reprimanded Azuma.
“Okay, okay, I’m leaving.” He raised his hands in momentary defeat, then took the mug and stood up. “Y/n can tell you alone.” Azuma winked, finally getting out of the kitchen. Tsuzuru sighed, wanting to dig a hole to get inside. First Kazunari and now Azuma… things weren’t going how he would’ve wanted them to. You hadn’t been dating for long, and he worried that he could do something to make you lose interest. He felt extremely clumsy and out of practice – when was the last time he had tried to impress anyone?
Maybe when he had written the first play for Mankai? But what he wanted to show you went far beyond that. He didn’t want you to just think of him as a good enough scriptwriter – he wanted so much more. And it was scary.
You slurped the last drops of your drink and the sound brought Tsuzuru back to reality.
“This was soooo good.” You licked your lips mindlessly, trying to get every last drop of flavor you could. “To be honest, I am impressed.”
He felt a flush of heat travel from his chest to his face. He eyed the hand you had rested on top of the table and moved his hand closer until your pinkies were touching. But before he could do something else, another person entered the kitchen.
“Oh, hello y/n, it’s been a while.” Tsumugi was carrying the watering can in one hand. He needed to use the sink since the hose in the back garden wasn’t working properly at that moment.
“How are the plants doing?” You had spoken to him when Kazunari and Tsuzuru first invited you to the dorms. Kazunari had insisted on giving you a tour of the place, and you had found him gardening.
“They’re doing well, but I see now it’s a shame I didn’t plant any mistletoe,” Tsumugi said while looking between you and Tsuzuru. “Although I am sure you don’t need it.”
That’s all it took for the both of you to get flustered. Tsumugi finished filling the watering can and turned the tap off, seemingly oblivious to the state he was going to leave you in.
“Feel free to visit the garden any time,” he said as a goodbye. When he left, you finally felt you could breathe again. Was it so obvious now that you were dating?
“Sorry about that, they’re all really… an interesting bunch.” Tsuzuru took the chance to take your hand between his.
“Yeah, I kind of had an inkling they’d be like that, Tsuzu.” You saw the worried look in his eyes and tried to reassure him. You were actually having a lot of fun being there with him.
“Hearing you say my name like that… makes me all warm and fuzzy.” The blush that had spread over his cheeks after Tsumugi’s comment intensified now, filling your heart with love.
You leaned your head on Tsuzuru’s shoulder and allowed him to play with the hand he had between his. Meanwhile, you basked in his heat.
Maybe some other resident of Mankai would come soon to interrupt you, but for now, that moment was yours.

Tumblr media
PAIRING : BANRI SETTSU X FEM!READER
GENRE : FLUFF
C/W : NONE!
LIBRARIAN’S NOTE/S : i’ve had this idea ever since i got hooked into a3! fanfics while at the same time i was fixated on mysme and otome games so you can probably guess what this oneshot will be about. i recall requesting this back then but it never got chosen and i was a lazy writer before even up till now so i decided to write it now
NOTES & REBLOGS ARE ALWAYS VERY MUCH APPRECIATED ^^
Tumblr media
FRIDAY - 11:29 PM
“Ha! Haa! Die you noob!” Banri shouted at his enemy on the screen. It was your 2 weeks break, so you decided to stay for the at the dorms despite being like a little sister to Izumi—it still took a lot of convincing to Sakyo on your part but it was thanks to Izumi that he was convinced—well more like forced to let you stay. On the condition that you will be helping out Izumi throughout your stay which isn’t so bad.
“Oh my goodness Banri, why do you always have to find me when I respawn, stop itt!!!” You complained. “Aww, you just have to do better then.” He teased but it was short-lived thanks to Itaru. “What the!” He exclaimed, “Blegh. Stop being so lovey-dovey it sucks to feel like the third wheel.” He deadpanned. “You mean to be the third wheel.” You chided. “Ooooohhh!! Nice one babe.” Banri said, “HAHAHA—HEY!! Why’d you—Why praise me if you're just gonna kill me.” You complained, “It’s not my fault I'm too good at this deathmatch.” He gloated while you just rolled your eyes.
“Ugh! You’re the worst.” You said, “But you love me.” He teased, “Oh I dunno, do I?” You replied. “Again, stop with the LQ.” Itaru deadpanned, “Don’t worry Itaru-san you’ll fi—WHAT HEY BANRI?! AGAIN!?” You complained once again. “Aw come on, babee, I know you can do better than that.” He taunted. Too mad to shout you answered, “You’re actually right, I can play better games than this.”
“Hey what? That’s not what I—HEY BABEE!!” Banri said facing you but he immediately turned back to his screen when you managed to kill him right before the match ended. “Awww, couldn’t keep your precious death count free from me?” You taunted. You three gamed all night, unbeknownst to Banri that you actually meant what you said, and updated Mystic Messenger. It’s been a long time since you’ve played it, so it wouldn’t be so bad to play it once more. It was 12 am so it was the perfect time to immediately start.
Tumblr media
Throughout the days while helping Izumi, the members who were frequently around you noticed that you have been checking your phone non-stop. Whenever they’d ask, you’d answer, “I was checking for any notifs and the time.” Those who asked would nod their heads or raise their brow at you but didn’t pry any further.
Well, technically you aren’t lying to them since you are telling the truth, you're not just specifying it. Like the usual, you three are gaming in Itaru’s room. A match just ended and a new chatroom has opened, “Wait before we enter queue, lemme double-check something.” You said, checking the website with the chatroom schedule, you saw that the next one doesn’t open in two hours from now.
“Alright, I’m good.” You told them and opened the chatroom while waiting for the matchmaking. You were smiling and laughing to yourself but it was short-lived when you heard ‘Match Found.’ iykyk after picking who you want to use, you go back to reading the chatroom and made sure to finish it before the match starts.
After gaming the night away, you three finally decided to hit the hay. Banri was already lying down in the bed while you were still sitting up, waiting for the new chatroom to open in a few minutes. "You're still not yet tired?" Banri asked while hugging your waist.
"I am but I just need to handle something. it'll be done in 10 minutes or so." You answered. Too tired to pry any further, he just nodded his head and slept hugging your waist.
Tumblr media
TUESDAY - 7 AM [CHATROOM DAY 4]
The next day passed and it was still the same routine, helping here and there but without your usual habits of checking the time and notifs. Some members were quite worried and some were piqued with this new habit of yours, but it's not like they had a problem with it since it wasn't hindering your work nor was it bothering them.
Then when night time came, you would game with Itaru and Banri, but on certain times when chatrooms don’t have a 1 hour interval, you’d sit out and focus on your phone. Only joining them once you’ve finished the chatrooms and other things like the calls, texts, and emails. This “same routine” happened for another 2 days.
THURSDAY - 7 AM [CHATROOM DAY 6]
Whenever Banri noticed you squealing, smiling, or giggling to yourself while playing Mystic Messenger. He’d try to look over your shoulder or ask what it’s about. You simply answer with “Nothing important.” “Ah, nothing much.” “Nothing special.” “Ah, something you don’t need to worry about.”
Banri has certainly had enough because you were no longer paying attention to him. Just like when you two were about to go to bed, you were still sitting up and waiting for the chatroom but this time, Banri wasn’t going to sleep. Not until he gets a proper explanation of your recent behavior.
“Hey Y/n, are you sure you're not cheating on me?” He asked, his tone was very serious and you could feel his sharp gaze on you. “Now why would I do that?” You asked, looking up from your phone to him. “Well I don’t know, maybe it’s because my girlfriend has been paying attention to her phone and laughing and squealing at it. With no proper explanation.” He answered ever so sarcastically.
Rolling your eyes at him, “Pft, well sorry for making you jealous.” You said with a small grin. “Huh—What?! That’s not—“ He was about to exclaim but you cut him off by covering his mouth. “Shhhh, you’re gonna wake up Juza, sheesh. Alright, I’ll tell you. It’s Mystic Messenger.” You told him while removing your hand.
“Why did you have to keep that a secret then?” He asked, “Cause I know you’d want to join in and play with me too but I wouldn’t want to hurt your ego since you won’t be able to beat me at it.” You taunted, “Is this a challenge that I hear?” He smirked. “If your ego is ready to take a blow, then yes. It is a challenge.” You answered, “Alright then, I’ll start right now.” He declared
“We haven't even decided about how you will win your challenge." You said. "What? Don't I just complete the game in a short time to beat you?" He asked. "That's not it dummy, every player will take 11 days to finish unless you decide to skip the common route for hourglasses, but since you're a beginner you can't." You explained
"What?!" He exclaimed, "Shhh, goodness it's a miracle that Juza is still asleep with all your shouting." You rebuked. Sighing to yourself, you explain the whole mechanics of the game to him. "How in the world do I beat you then?" He asked with a face filled with disappointment. "It's simple, you just need to get a good ending without cheats.” You answered, “It’s Thursday—Well technically Friday already. If you start right now, I’m gonna check up on your progress this coming Tuesday.” You added
FRIDAY - 12:04 AM [Y/N’S CHATROOM DAY 7 ; BANRI’S CHATROOM DAY 1]
“Well I better start now, if I wanna prove to you that I can beat you in every game—even these otome games.” He taunted “Suit yourself, I’ll be cheering on you then.” You said before giving him a peck on the cheek. Feeling very confident that he was gonna reach a bad ending and slept the night away.

TUESDAY - 9 AM [Y/N’S CHATROOM DAY 11 ; BANRI’S CHATROOM DAY 5]
Days passed and watching Banri rage over failing to answer the correct choice in emails, the wrong choices in chatrooms, and missing the chatrooms were so entertaining.
You two could just be sitting beside each other quietly and doing your own thing when you suddenly hear him saying "HA?!" "What?!" "Y/N what's wrong with this game?!" or anything of the like. “There’s nothing wrong with the game—you just answered it incorrectly.” You would answer every time.
Now it was the moment of truth for Banri but he just doesn’t know it yet. After playing the game so many times, you already recognize a bad ending when you see one. Banri couldn’t check the chatrooms right away due to responsibilities but now that he is free, you decided to join him since you finished your 8am chatroom already, the next one was at 12 noon. “Oh! Sweet, a story mode!” He commented. Looking over his shoulder, you immediately knew what it was.
You watch as his face goes through a bunch of emotions. Looking again at his screen, he was finally at his last chatroom. “WHAT?!” He shouted as the screen of a bad ending appears. Laughing at his frustrated face, you pat him on the back. “Don’t worry, it’s very normal to reach a bad end at Day 5, especially for busy people.” You told him.
“Well then, if you’re so high and mighty. What’s your progress then?” He asked, “Hmm, let me check the chatroom timings.” You replied and went to the net and there he saw the whole schedule of every day. “It says here 12 noon.” Waving your phone at him. “You’ve been cheating the whole time?!” He exclaimed. “Me? No, this is literally the nth time I’ve played this game and to be fair I didn’t use any of these cheats the first time I played. So it’s only fair that the same happens to you.” You explained
“Well, then Mr. You Can Do Better Than This, I wish you a pleasant day.” You pat him on the shoulder and gave him a quick kiss. Before walking off to Izumi while leaving a dumbfounded Banri.

FRIENDLY REMINDERS & MATH EQUATIONS [SHINSOU HITOSHI X READER]
[SUMMARY] what one person writes on their skin also appears on the skin of their soulmate. reader is forgetful and shinsou is bored. awkwardness ensues. [PRONOUNS] she/her [GENRE] fluff | soulmate au [POV] third person [WORD COUNT] 1083 [CONTENT] soulmate-identifying marks | pov switch between reader & shinsou | math
She was forgetful.
[Name] always had an issue with remembering things. She would put reminders on her phone, sticky notes on her walls, and big red words on her whiteboard and in her planner. And yet, somehow, she always seemed to miss them. The only thing she found that would work (and that wasn't even a guarantee) was writing the reminders on her wrist and hand and arm.
When she first started doing it she worried that it would bother her soulmate, the person who saw the scribbled notes appear on their own skin as though they had written it. But, after a while, she forgot about that, too.
...
He was bored.
Shinsou Hitoshi had a problem with staying awake during study hall. He was fine during the actual lessons, hoping to soak up as much hero stuff as he could, but when he was left to his own devices he became utterly bored and horribly tired. He would read and go over notes, but those activities quickly became just as boring as doing nothing. The only thing that would stave off his boredom was to look at the words that would sometimes cover one of his limbs. And on the days where there was nothing, he would absentmindedly draw small doodles on the empty space.
When he first started doing it, he worried that his soulmate would find the cartoon-ish cats to be too childish, or his drawing abilities to be less than sub-par. But, after a while, he grew bored with that, too.
...
It was Sunday. [Name] had two assignments due for English on Monday, neither of which she’d started, and a math assignment she was absolutely clueless about. She’d asked her friends, who were just as stumped as her, and Google didn’t even seem to have the answers, either. [Name] stared down at the math problems in front of her, mind split between figuring out the equations and working on the two English papers. Why had she thought spending Saturday with her friends, getting some extra practice in with their Quirks, would be a good idea?
In a moment of desperation, [Name] glanced at her wrist and the lack of anything drawn by her soulmate. It had been some time since she’d seen anything drawn by them, and she had to admit that she missed seeing the cute cat doodles. It was rare for her to think about her soulmate, writing notes or reminders on her skin without so much as a second thought towards the other person who could read them.
She bit her lip and picked up her pen, hesitantly drawing the first equation into her skin. Underneath it she wrote “help?” and then capped her pen, set it down on the desk, and waited.
...
Shinsou had never tried to communicate with his soulmate through the drawings. He knew people who had, people who had written down their location or phone number and met their soulmates that way. If Shinsou wasn’t being honest, he’d say that it was too much work and he wasn’t interested in the whole “soulmate” thing, anyways. If Shinsou was being honest, though, he’d say that he was worried about what he’d find. What if his soulmate thought he was ugly? What if they hated him and his Quirk? What if they were scared of him? They seemed like such a ditzy, cute person, always writing reminders on their skin, no matter how simple. How could he compare to that? To them, he was just the person who would draw a cat sometimes, and even that was rare.
And besides, they had never tried to contact him, either.
Which was why it was such a surprise when Shinsou saw the equation suddenly appear and the word 'help?' written beneath it. He’d been drying off from his shower, just having gotten back from training, when he noticed it. He stared at the numbers and letters and blinked. The equation looked familiar- they had just gone over it in class on Friday.
He could help his soulmate with a math problem.
Shinsou quickly finished drying off and got dressed, sitting at his desk and quickly picking up a pen. He wrote the word 'okay' beneath their request for help and waited a minute before getting to work.
...
The moment his response appeared beneath her cry for help, [Name] felt the hairs on the back of her neck stand up. She waited with bated breaths as the process to solve the equation slowly appeared. [Name] copied it down, stroke for stroke, in her notebook. It took a second for her to realize she’d been holding her breath.
Within two minutes the answer was there, peering up at her from her wrist. The steps to getting it had been neatly recorded and transferred to the assignment sheet, and [Name] let out a long sigh of relief. 'thank you.' She wrote, adding a smiley face for good measure.
Content with that small bit of contact, [Name] turned back to her papers. She had just started attempting the next problem when the familiar sensation of lines appearing in her skin brought her back to look at her wrist. Written in the space where the palm meets the wrist were new words: 'do u need help w/ more?'
[Name] sucked in a breath, her heart racing against her ribs. Trembling more than she’d like to admit, [Name] wrote a short 'if it’s not too much trouble' beneath the question.
...
Shinsou couldn’t keep the stupid grin off his face. As soon as he realized it, though, he forced it away and replaced it with a neutral expression, though his eyes still glimmered. Talking to his soulmate made his heart beat quicker than usual; he told himself he wasn’t sure why, since he hadn’t given them much thought, but a voice in the back of his head whispered "you know why."
Hesitating for just a moment longer, Shinsou began to write down his phone number. Once the numbers were written, he grimaced. Had this really been a good idea? He thought back to the number of people who had done the same thing he had, though for different reasons. They all seemed happy enough, but was he ready to talk to his soulmate like they did?
Shaking his head, Shinsou assured himself that he wasn’t trying to connect with them. All he was doing was trying to help someone with their math homework. That was it.
Three minutes passed before his phone buzzed.

“So, director, what do you think?”
Izumi, who was reading through Tsuzuru’s final draft of his project, nodded, her smiling eyes now trained on Tsuzuru.
“Really good! You’ll receive perfect grades, no doubt!”
Tsuzuru let out a sigh of relief. He slumped down further in his chair, as all the tension of silence as he waited for the Director to review his manuscript lifted off of his body. Thoughts of not having to bring dinner in his room, and actually eating it with everyone, plus he can finally sleep early…
“There is one thing, though… Hey, don’t sleep yet! We’re at the balcony, you’re gonna freeze to death.” Izumi said, as she pushed Tsuzuru’s laptop toward him with a small frown. “So, anyways… you talk about a lot of how your mom kept on telling you stories, but we don’t really see much of her actually doing the story telling.”
Tsuzuru nodded, as he closed his laptop with a small thmp. “… That is true, yeah. I did try to write her stories into a chapter, but…”
There was a faraway look on Tsuzuru’s eyes, as his gaze shifted to the night sky. He recounted the story books his mom would read to him when he was a kid, the dark, blank sky serving as a canvas for a kingdom full of luminescent plants, flying carpets, huge, pointed castles hosting myriads of elves, wild creatures and their king and queen.
“I couldn’t. My words won’t give her imagination and way of storytelling justice. It’s the kind of thing you have to witness for yourself.”
Izumi hummed, as she looked at Tsuzuru, following his gaze towards the sky.
“Maybe one day. Hopefully.”

The four seasons of Mankai company
Synopsis: Tachibana (Y/n) and her older sister Tachibana Izumi received a letter that came all the way from a theater company called Mankai company. You both decided to meet the mysterious sender, in hopes of finding answers about your father's whereabouts after 8 years of disappearance, only to find the said theater to be in debt from someone!
⚠️Reminders⚠️:
May contain incorrect grammars (English is not my first language)
A bit of changes in the plot
Different flow of story due to two protagonists (you and Izumi)
Reader is 16 while Izumi is 24 (not canon but is considered)
Fem!reader
P.s: A3! Characters are legally and respectfully owned by Liber Entertainment Inc. and I do not claim them. I only own the changes in the plot of the story
Chapter 1:
Theater Town
"Wake up (y/n), we're here" you were awoken by a soft pat on your head, you soon realized you were leaning on your big sister's shoulder and fell asleep. You raised your head, stealing a few more seconds to doze off as you yawned and told Izumi just about how good your sleep was as she chuckled at you. A voice can be heard from a large speaker as it announces the train's destination, finally reaching your stop—Veludo station.
Izumi got up first, signalling for you to follow her behind so both of you won't get separated from each other. You began looking around as your sister took out the letter together with the company's exact location
"So this town really is full of theaters!" You exclaimed in excitement, admiring the colorful triangle banners surrounding the town, together with different theater companies on sight
"Now that you said it, it really is. The map says the Mankai company is in the corner of Veludo street, I wonder if this is really alright.."
Your sister mumbled the last words, clear enough so that you're the only one hearing it. It seems like she's taking your mother's words seriously about the letter. I mean it's suspicious to find that after all these years, your father's company would still be searching for him
"I don't even know where that man went! We've already cut ties and it's been 8 years since he left" you can still hear the words your mom said, sounds like she still holds a grudge against your father
Lost in your own thoughts, you were snapped back into reality when someone accidentally bumped into you, the impact left you both sitting on the floor, hissing at the pain in unison. He was quick to process anything and immediately apologized, offering a hand as soon as he got up—which you thankfully accepted, earning a relieved sigh from the poor boy
He looked like he ran away from someone, or rather finished a whole marathon, some of the strands of his dark-pink hair are sticking to his forehead which concerns you more
"I'm sorry! I wasn't looking at my way!" He bowed at exactly 90° making you flinch. He stayed like that for almost a minute
You're going to have to thank him for his politeness (even though he looks way younger than you) but this is too much!
"Ahhhhhhhh! Please raise your head now, it's okay it's okay! You don't have to apologize"
you panicked, continuously looking around as people are starting to stare at the two of you. He raised his head, showing his apologetic expression. He's thankful that you accepted his apology—lips forming into a charming smile as he giggled
You swear you see cherry blossoms blooming just around his face
Everything went well after that, not until you heard him made a surprised noise and saw his widened eyes looking at his wristwatch, it seems like he was late and it must've been that important based on his facial expressions. You feel more guilty than you were before
"Sorry, I didn't know you were going some-"
"Ah no! It was my fault! Sorry, I have to go!" He cut you off as he ran away hurriedly—leaving you processing all the things that happened just a few minutes ago
You didn't even realize your older sister was gone, and she probably didn't even realize you weren't with her
'what a perfect sibling dynamic' you jokingly thought
But as soon as you walk through a corner, there she is! Talking to a guy who's crouching on the floor, together with another guy who looks just as concerned as your sister does. I mean who wouldn't be concerned about a guy crouching down on the side of the streets that looks like he's in pain?
You're curious to know what happened, who knows? Maybe it might be best if you judge the situation first based on your understanding and let it live up to your imaginations—two guys falling head over heels to your big sister and are fighting for her love the first time they met her exactly on the streets of Veludo way. Yeah, that'll probably be it!
'I mean I'm not going to blame nee-san if boys fight over for her' you thought, trying to run very sneakily behind your sister
"What's happening? Is he okay?" You said, clinging onto your sister's arm, making her see the Gods from above for a second but sooner thank the Gods upon realizing it was just you
"(Y/n)!" She glared at you, apologizing to her by clinging more tightly. She does nothing but letting you do your own thing since she can't do anything about your behaviour sometimes
"Do adults really like to argue outside the streets?" You asked in curiosity, eyes glued to the scene infront of you—the crouching man before was standing now together with another man. It looks like they were having a complicated conversation
"That's not it, (y/n)-"
"Hey look, a street act!" The three of you stole a quick glance from the source of voice behind, and realized there were a lot of people watching
"I saw that guy on the stage before!" A passerby said. "They're so handsome!" Schoolgirls began squealing from the side. Yup, they're definitely popular
It seems like everyone enjoyed the performance, you won't even deny that both of them are very good at portraying their characters' actions and emotions. Not too long after, both of them bowed in unison, as they thanked all of the people watching them, a full-round of applause was heard as people began tossing lots of coins on a box infront of them, both you and your sister decided to toss coins too to show appreciation as they continuously thanked everyone who showed generosity
"I didn't even realize that was an act just now" Izumi clapped her hand once as she chuckled to herself, making the guy beside her ask in shock
"Eh? That was a play?" The light brown-haired guy must've been way more surprised than your sister does
"Mhm! Actors from theaters usually do these street acts in order to advertise or serve as a fundraising project to their upcoming plays, the scripts are most likely coming only from their ad-libs so it's really impressive once you know about it" Izumi babbled. Both you and the guy were happy to know about this new discovery. Your nee-san is knowledgeable about things such as this which left you admiring her more not only as an older sister, but also as your second guardian and your teacher
"As expected from a theater town...I think I need to study more" the guy mumbled something under his breath that you cannot hear quite clearly, but you just shrugged it off even though you are curious to know what it is
The crouching guy from before apologized to both of them, then the latter began scolding his friend that he came out so slow earlier when they performed
"Excuse me! Are you now recruiting members for God?" The light brown-haired guy suddenly asked out to the two actors, which both you and your older sister curiously watched from behind
'Maybe he wants to be an actor too!' you assumed
You examined the conversation they exchanged—upon discovering that he was looking for a dorm to stay on. You were sad for the guy after hearing that the God troupe doesn't have a dorm. He thanked both of them and parted ways, leaving both of you proceeding to your main objective
"Now i'm really looking forward to this play after seeing a street act" your sister's eyes beamed in excitement, and yours were beaming too
"Romeo gakuen heaven.." you mumbled, remembering the play's title when you saw it on the company's map as Izumi—who cannot wait any longer, led the way
"Mankai theater is supposed to be here, right?"
That was the first thing your older sister asked, upon looking up to see a theater infront of you with a huge signboard that says 'Mankai Theater'
"I mean it's in the signboard up there, so this must be it. We can't be discovering lots of Mankai theaters here when I'm sure father only owns a single one"
"But this one is...honestly crumbling" although you're hesitant whether it's right to comment about the appearance, she's got a point. It looks like it holds a LOT of history
"There's no sign of people even though there is a play today, is this really fine?" Izumi added, slowly pacing back and forth while lost in her own thoughts, unable to comprehend the things happening today. Was it a prank? Or probably the wrong map? But it can't be, the signboard literally says the theater and the company you're looking for
Because of this, your conversation together with your mom suddenly came into mind again
"The letter said it's from the Mankai company" you said, handing it out for your older sister to see
"Mom! Mankai company is dad's theater, right? The sender might know something about where dad is!" Izumi said
"Maybe if we meet with them, we'll definitely know something!" She added, too insisting to know your mother's response
"Then do it by yourself because mom doesn't know and-"
"Can I go with you, nee-san?"
"You're not allowed to go with your big sister, (y/n). You still have classes to attend tomorrow!" Your mother stated, too busy to look behind her to see your disappointed expression—arms crossed and furrowed eyebrows
"Can't she just transfer to another school? One that's near enough to the company? In that way we won't have to go back here and go back there" Izumi suggested, even though it sounds too much of a trouble to handle all of it, your mother only replied with an annoyed sigh, one that secretly makes you celebrate
"I'll take care of her, trust me on this mom" she added, smiling at your mother as she looked over through her shoulder to look at both of you, rethinking whether she will choose the right decision on this
"I hope you won't give too much trouble to your nee-san, (y/n). I'll let this slide but if I ever receive a letter that you skip classes without my watch, I'll be forcing you to go back home here, got it?" Mother warned you, glancing at the two of you back-to-back as you both nod in unison. You thanked your mother—hugging her as Izumi joined too
You were back to the Earth as you looked down at the letter in your hand and turned it around to examine it
"I didn't notice the sender's name was here. Nee-san, do you know who's Matsukawa Isuke?" You questioned, to which she replied back
"I don't know who this person is but I'm curious to know what kind of relationship they have with dad"
You were about to reply back to your sister when a voice suddenly spoke out, which made you flinch and your sister looking behind instantly
"Hey, do the two of you need something from this theater?" You looked behind nervously. It's an adult man with blonde hair and glasses, and if you tend to look closely and carefully, he has an attractive mole under his right eye. 'He's good looking yet he's intimidating' you thought
"Matsukawa-san?" Izumi said in a low and hesitant tone. Wait! He must be the sender of the letter, and with that you stand next to your sister which made the blonde-haired man slightly raise his one eyebrow
"You must be that person we're looking for, right mr.?" You asked, patiently waiting for his reply to which unexpectedly made him react the opposite of what you thought
"HUHH?!" He reacted. You can clearly tell by the looks of his face that it's the wrong person
But his face suddenly changed when he glanced over at your sister's face and looks like he discovered something, which weirded you out
"Wait aren't you.."
"Okay wrong person, nee-san! I repeat, wrong person!" You carefully but hurriedly grab both your sister's shoulder to back her up to the mysterious person who kept looking at her as if he's scanning her face as she nervously laughs, sweat slowly forming on her forehead
"Sorry, we got the wrong person. It's not like we received any letter! We're just passersby letter A-B!"
You began panicking, not having any choice but to agree with your sister's choice of words. It was obvious but there's no backing away now. Whoever this man really is, you know he's got something to do with this theater
"If you don't want to encounter a dangerous sight, it's best for the two of you to leave quickly. People who don't have any businesses here are not needed"
It was the last thing you heard before the ground began shaking, and a loud noise could be heard going nearer as you felt scared and decided to cling onto your sister. There goes a huge excavator that was coming towards the theater! Where did that even come from?! And why is it going forward?! And who is this man trying to destroy the theater?!
Your eyes widened, both you and your sister are surprised that this would take an unexpected turn of events
"Wait wait wait!! Please stop!! STOP!!!" A pleading-crying voice can be heard as another mysteriously looking guy with a rather ragged outfit came running very fast in an attempt to stop the excavator, but the scary blonde guy ignored the other as he talked to the one driving the excavator, the latter even called him 'Aniki!' so they were accomplices after all!
"Do it, Sakoda. Make sure you completely destroy the signboard, this will be fully demolished after and reconstructed into a bar-"
"H-hey! What are you doing!?" Izumi suddenly blurted out, there's no other way but to talk it out and that's the only help she can think of
"I just told you it'd be dangerous, didn't I?" He replied back, looking behind to steal a glance at the two of you, you can't do anything as your feet felt numb, almost as if you're stuck and unable to speak
"I beg you Furuichi-san! Please stop it!!!" The poor guy wasted no time and bowed, he stayed like that for minutes and completely began to sink lower and lower until his forehead became in contact with the floor, 'the theater must be super important to this guy' you looked down on him in pity, surely there must be some way we can help him, he might be the person we are looking for
"You're the one who said that if you can't pay all of your debts by the end of the show, I'll have to use force here!"
"Today is our main show!" He cried out, looking up at the blonde guy, who looks down on him in dissapointment
"I could pay at least the interest if I can get money from this performance! Just please think this over and let's talk!" He continuously cried out, being really vulnerable infront of him. It looks like there's no way of getting into him until he sighs in annoyance and gives an instruction from his accomplice
"Sakoda, stop"
"Yessir!"
As soon as the blonde haired guy named Furuichi-san stopped talking, the pitiful guy sighed in relief and stood up but soon got tense again when Furuichi-san leaned his arm around his shoulder, making the pitiful guy petrified
"How many tickets have been sold?"
"Zero!"
"How about the full-house tickets?"
"Also zero!"
"What time is the performance?"
"3 minutes by now!"
The pitiful guy ended his sentence in a nervous laugh as Furuichi-san doesn't look a little big amused by his answers
"Sakoda, do it"
"Yessir!!"
"WAIT!! WAIT! THE AUDIENCE ARE ABOUT TO COME!!" He said as he begged again, lots of crying noises can be heard as he purposely tried his best to leave the theater untouched into any damage, although it looks like it's gonna break by itself
'This is too much to handle!! God please help this poor guy!' you cried out in your mind, the cries of the pleading guy and the cruelty of a guy who doesn't look like he'll show mercy at any time is too much for your heart to handle, this is pure torture!
"Where are they?"
"Errr...uhmm..ahhh"
"Why do I feel like we're being stared at..." Your older sister muttered, her body stood still like a mannequin as her face made a weird expression
Your hand makes its way to fidget on the hem of your skirt, looking down as you slowly backed away, hiding behind your sister
Izumi might have seen your movements as a sign of telling her to help him, you might look tough at first but sometimes you're at a loss of words. That's why she took up all the courage and decided to speak up
"The audiences are right here" She defended, pressing her hand on her chest in a way she can present herself, while you remained hiding
"SEE?! T-THEY'RE HERE!!" The ragged-looking guy's face switched into pure excitement, too loud in your opinion but you understand his situation if you were in his shoes, you'd definitely be too hype
"Didn't you just say that you're just a passersby A and B?" He clicked his tongue
"We have the flyer as proof!" You showed him the flyer. It was the theater's exact performance for today which you're really looking forward to
It seems like it's enough proof to present, he sighed in defeat. "A few more audiences might still be on their way here, it'd be a total waste if we didn't get to watch the performance" you added, hoping it could warm this cold-hearted man
"Did you even watch this theater's recent performance?" He asked, his purple eyes piercing a hole through you. It's truly agonizing to feel little sometimes
"No..I don't?"
"That's what I thought"
"But this place. It feels familiar.." Izumi joined in the conversation, clutching her hands in her sling bag. She looked at the large banner right above the signboard—Deja vu coming through her "It's like I've been here when I was little" she added
"I see.." he pondered as his eyes landed on your older sister. You're really really sure for yourself that he LOVES to pierce a hole through anyone with how sharp his gazes are. It's scary
"PLEASE WATCH OUR SHOW! WE HAVE A NEW MEMBER AND IT'S GOING TO BE HIS FIRST PERFORMANCE!" The ragged-looking man begged, desperately crying out as you swore you felt a ringing in your ear just now
"So you got a new recruit?"
"THAT'S RIGHT!!" he yelled, obediently answering to Furuichi-san's questions
"HAVING THE THEATER DEMOLISHED RIGHT BEFORE HIS FIRST PERFORMANCE IS TOO CRUEL" His hands clasped as he still wouldn't stop crying
It's a huge relief that people rarely walk by here and witness a chaotic scene infront of the theater, where a large excavator is going to demolish a crumbling theater and the ragged-looking guy who you don't know the name of starts sacrificing his sanity just to keep the building untouched, and two audience who just wanted to know their father's whereabouts are now being forced to witness everything that's happening
"Sakoda, stay here"
"Yessir!"
Furuichi-san stood still infront of the theater, his back facing the three of you. You felt shivers down your spine, making the air feel colder than it was before
"Start the show now" the three of you suddenly feel like you've been freed from the suffocating silence, especially the ragged-looking guy, who happily obliged and replied back with a "YES!" Quickly assisting the three of you inside the theater
You looked around the interior—eyes wandering at every corner. You followed your older sister as she sat on the front row, sitting beside her as your lips can't stop itself from smiling. You're excited
Furuichi-san sat right beside you, and now you're in between, feeling the awkward air flowing inside the room
"Don't regret that you stopped us earlier"
"Eh?" You looked at him, only to witness his eyes closed and face in a much more relaxed expression. His index finger softly taps on the sleeves of his coat several times, it's probably the best not to bother him at this time or you'll regret it. The thought of it already makes your anxiety rose up
When the buzz stopped, the curtain lifts up, the lights from the stage started to warm up the atmosphere in the pitch black room. Your (e/c) eyes lit up as its only focus is on the stage, and to the familiar dark pink-haired boy

The Floor is Lava!
Tumblr media
Fandom: A3!
Characters: All Troupes
Warnings: Uncensored swearing, mentions of anxiety issues, mentions of nudity
Genre: fluff
Words: 2.7K
Scenario: One of the dingbats suddenly declares that the floors in the Mankai dorms are lava! Oh no! However, there are house rules: Given the size of the dorm rooms, the amount of people, and Sakyo’s temper, there are additional “safe” places throughout the building. There is also a Safe Zone (aka time-out) for anyone who touches the lava. This goes on for WEEKS (much to Izumi and Sakyo’s dismay) before finally fading - but it was fun while it lasted!
Tumblr media
Sakuya: plays this game on the playground at daycare! He giggles hysterically as he tries leaping to and from each piece of furniture to get to where he wants to go. Has more enthusiasm than form. Flails a lot. Probably breaks something. This is the kind of fun he never had growing up, so he’s all-in. He makes the mistake of saying that out loud, though, and now no one will call him out when he slips and touches Lava. Like the goody-goody he is, he sends himself to the safe zone when he touches the floor, but Yuki just says he can’t declare himself out and sends him right back.
Masumi: has his headphones on. Doesn’t hear the lava declaration; probably wouldn’t care if he did. Or so you’d think. In between songs he realizes what’s going on. He mutters snarky comments about everyone who falls or touches lava and every person who calls him out for just sitting around instead of playing. After watching everyone else for a while, he’s memorized clear paths through the entire room. Gets up to get himself a snack, moves flawlessly to the kitchen the first time. Several people smack him with couch cushions when he comes back.
Tsuzuru: he’s got a sillier, childish side too, since he never stopped playing with his brothers. He follows all the rules of the game and even enjoys jumping and climbing on the furniture (he may get along with Sakyo but that little childish side cackles at the idea of harmlessly pissing him off). He occasionally declares himself lava-proof so he can help up someone who slipped. Eventually loses when he realizes he’s late for one of his jobs and just books it to his room to get changed to go. Does his homework in the safe zone after he gets home.
Itaru: is sitting on the couch. Just picks his feet up and sits cross-legged. Doesn’t look up from his game. But at least he’s playing, right? Laughs every time someone falls or something breaks. He won’t even try to get up. He bribes people to bring him snacks from the kitchen. When he has to go to the bathroom, he gets Citron to carry him there. (Hey, when Mom’s strong enough to carry Dad, you take advantage of it, right?)
Citron: “Oh nooooo! The floor is lava! We will all yearn!” (Tsuzuru: *sigh* Burn. We’ll all burn.) Just starts jumping around because he doesn’t understand the game. (“No, no! This is how it’s done in my country!”) The game is explained to him three times. Once he understands, he gets a little too enthusiastic and is declared a public menace. He still steps in lava. Yuki refuses to let him into the safe zone. Citron is eventually declared a safe zone himself and helps or carries people to their destinations.
Chikage: Never turns a hair, never looks flustered. Also never touches his foot to the floor again. You have no idea how he does it. He’s just magically where he wants to be and no one saw him move. He shows off by continuing to play the game for weeks after the fad passes for everyone else. He just considers it good practice. What it’s good practice for no one wants to ask.
Tumblr media
Tenma: Oh my GOD he doesn't have time for these childish games! S-so what if he’s avoiding the floor? There was a spilled drink! He’s practicing for a role! It’s for team-building! It - shut up! It’s not like he actually ENJOYS playing games with you plebes! (Tsundere gonna tsun.) Eventually wears through his own defenses and just starts laughing and playing along and even Yuki doesn’t call him out. Like Sakuya, he didn’t get to play games as a kid. Every time he drops the pretense and allows himself to enjoy silly things, it makes the others happy.
Yuki: declares his shoes to be lava-proof. If everyone else can be childish, so can he. Also, he is absolutely not jumping around in a skirt. He has his dignity, you know. Instead, he puts himself in charge of the time-out space. Renames it the Sewing Safe Zone and anyone who falls in lava has to help him with costumes. Sits there on a floor cushion and huffs and clicks his tongue and rolls his eyes and seems mildly annoyed by the shouting and laughter and chaos . . . But when no one’s looking, he’s smiling and enjoying the atmosphere. Also enjoys teaching the losers how to sew.
Misumi: this boy barely touches the floor as it is. Once someone explains the rules, as far as he’s concerned, the floor is all lava all the time. Declares all triangular spaces to be safe. Will 100% pick up people and carry them around while still avoiding the floor. At one point he grabs Taichi and races around the entire dorm without ever once touching the floor. Taichi’s scream-laughter only gets louder when Sakyo starts yelling and trying to chase them down. They both wind up punished, even though they don’t break anything.
Muku: Second only to Misumi and Taichi in how good he is at this game. First, he’s played before with his family any number of times. Second, he’s light and strong and his control over his body is one of the few things he’s actually confident about. This is easier than doing hurdles in track, for sure! Is the only one (other than Misumi) to dare to use the light fixtures as monkey bars. Drops onto the chair. Leaps from chair to couch, steps carefully on the coffee table, and compares himself to a ninja prince. Tries to get Misumi to teach him how to backflip from the coffee table to the couch. Sakyo and Izumi can’t shout NO fast enough. Muku gets sent to the Sewing Safe Zone for his own Safety. Refers to himself as a book dropped in a puddle while he sadly sews.
Kazunari: is 100% live-streaming the chaos to the Mankai Insta page. He is eventually cajoled into playing for a while, but he has a lot more fun watching and documenting. Within a week, there’s a new painting hanging in the common room. It’s done in sumi-e style, bare inked lines indicating form and movement, minimalist figures in mid-leap or sprawled on the floor. In Kazu’s love of playing with art rules, it’s not purely black-on-white - the blurred figures have tiny splashes of color indicating hair or clothing color. The energy and fun in the painting is almost electric.
Kumon: used to play this with Juza and Muku all the time! He’s an athletic kid, so he’s doing pretty well getting through the common areas. But strangely, to everyone’s surprise, he just…stops. He finds a place to sit and cheers on everyone else. It’s not that he doesn’t want to play, it’s just that he suddenly remembered the last time he played this game. He was still living at home and broke one of his mom’s vases. His parents are usually really patient with being gentle with him about things, but he still got into a LOT of trouble. The idea of repeating that moment, with Sakyo yelling at him and the whole dorm to witness it, spikes his anxiety. He’ll carefully avoid the floor, but he’d rather join in the laughter and general watching.
Tumblr media
Banri: fucking glides across the furniture like Jesus walking on water. Laughs at Juza every time he struggles. When he gets bored (pretty quickly) he gathers pillows and stuffed animals and starts chucking them at people to get them to fall. “How will you get better without a challenge? None of you are me!” Eventually, Azami creams him in the back of the head with a HUGE floor pillow and actually knocks him off the back of the couch and onto the floor. Guess you lost, Banri. Get your ass to the Sewing Safe Zone. After his time-out, he restricts himself to torturing Juza.
Juza: of course he’s played this game before! It’s just….been awhile. He’s a big guy, and the longer legs might seem like an advantage, but the full-on bulk of him is hard to move like this. He’s good on stage when he’s choreographed, but this? He winds up in the SSZ any number of times. Pisses off Yuki because he takes up a lot of space and he also can’t sew. Keeps getting distracted (and hit with pillows) by Banri. After having enough of his roommate, he throws one of the stuffed animals at him. He might not be as into baseball as Kumon, but he’s always pitched for his brother. Also, those awful clown things at amusement parks? The ones that you have to throw balls at to knock them down and then you get tickets? Yeah, guess who has the high score on that. Beans Banri in the face hard enough that he gets knocked off the couch AGAIN. Get your ass to the Sewing Safe Zone, Part 2.
Taichi: BRING IT ON! Lives and breathes the game. Basically FLIES from one piece of furniture or safe space to another. Manages to make it from the common room all the way across the dorm into his own room and UP TO HIS BED without touching the lava. Muku makes him a construction paper crown to celebrate being King of Lava Jumping. Taichi insists on a second crown for Misumi, and the two of them continue the game every time they’re bored. Which, for Taichi, is pretty often. Also, everyone laughs when he makes a really good move and Banri commented that it’d help his agility on stage. Wins all around!
Omi: As the biggest guy, he basically just walks across the room, only having to take a short hop to get from one piece of furniture to the next. Only plays once, though. He’s concerned about the combination of his weight and landing on top of the furniture. Also, as much as he’s having fun and he’ll join in on the dorm shenanigans once in a while, he definitely feels that as the oldest young one (Sakyo, Chikage and Winter Troupe are basically the Adultier Adults - no one can define Itaru as an adult, really) he’s got to set an example. He enjoys the fact that a lot of the younger kids look up to him, and wants to model good behavior. Also REALLY doesn’t want to piss off Sakyo, given the consequences.
Sakyo: No. He’ll walk across the room like a motherfucking adult, thank you. Watches the proceedings like a hawk. Anyone who breaks anything or costs the dorm money winds up in a bunny suit on Veludo Way. He walks around the room glaring at everyone and everything until he gets called out by Azami and (surprisingly) Tsumugi for ruining everyone’s fun by being an uptight stick-in-the-mud (well, Azami calls him something worse, and Tsumugi is more polite, but that’s the gist). He replies that he’ll leave, but if anything gets destroyed or broken, EVERYONE IN THE ROOM will be out on Veludo in a bunny suit.
Azami: ….what is this? Never really played with kids his own age, so hasn’t ever done this before. Another big guy, but young enough that he’s still unsure how to work his long limbs. He keeps overshooting and crashing into things. He’s worried about bruises and considering quitting until Sakyo tries to ban the game. Red flag at a bull. Now he’s going to figure out how to play this damn game even if he has to cover his whole body in concealer tomorrow. He gets into the swing of it pretty quick after that, but it almost immediately goes from a fun game to a fierce competition. Who he’s competing against isn’t clear. (Sakyo. It’s Sakyo. Even though Sakyo isn’t playing.)
Tumblr media
Tsumugi: Probably the least athletic person in the entire dorm. Tasuku actively tries to discourage him, reminds him of similar disasters when they were younger, but he’s intrigued. After a few minutes of thought, he grabs two throw pillows. Drops one pillow on the ground, steps on it. Drops the other in front of him. Steps on it. Wriggles around slowly to pick up the one behind him. Wriggles to face front. Drops pillow. Steps on it. It takes him almost twenty minutes to cross a room like this and everyone is howling in laughter by the end of it, but he’s really proud of himself. Tasuku just sighs and figures it’s a good balance workout.
Tasuku: isn’t playing. This is for kids, why would he - what do you mean, the floor might be lava in the next show? Ugh, fine. Now the most athletic member of the dorm is emulating Misumi and basically parkouring his way from room to room. Far less worried about landing on the furniture with his weight, at least until he hears something crack in the couch. Is glad for the agility training he did for Dance With Butterfly. Takes it super seriously. Eventually decides it’s actually a really good practical workout. At one point, he gets Tsumugi to climb on his back to add to the difficulty. Has a fierce memory of them doing the same thing as kids, so strong he almost trips. Drags his friend off for a cup of coffee.
Hisoka: is sleeping in the lava. One of the smarter troupe members spreads a blanket over him, and the edges of the blanket are now an island safe zone. When he wakes up, Hisoka ninjas his way back to his room for marshmallows, then ninjas his way back to his little island safe zone and goes back to sleep. Never touches the floor once. (Doesn’t even realize they’re playing, to be honest.) Taichi is hella jealous but the rest of winter troupe just rolls their eyes. They’re used to this shit.
Homare: unsurprisingly, joins in with enthusiasm. He’s reasonably strong, pretty agile, and has the long limbs to go with his height, so he can work his way across the room without too much of a problem. But then! He sees what Tsumugi is doing and the border between following the rules and breaking them sparks his creativity. He takes off his suit jacket and lays it on the floor - “like over a puddle for a beauteous maiden!” - and steps on it. Then his vest. Then one shoe, then the other. By the time he makes it to the doorway, he’s in his boxers and the guys are torn between laughing and yelling at him to put his clothes back on. There is a declaration - “None of you appreciate art!” and Homare drops his last article of clothing to make the last step out the door and theatrically walks back to his room, laughing and bare-ass naked.
Azuma: he might be elegant and graceful and capable of participating, but there is no way he’s compromising his dignity by jumping and crawling. He will, however, offer helping hands to someone trying to make an extra-long leap. Then he goes back to his glass of wine. Spills his wine all over himself when Sakuya almost lands in his lap after a mistimed jump. Sighs and wonders what the fuck happened to his quiet, refined life. He can hear the laughter even while changing clothes in his dorm room and decides that, ruined clothes or not, he likes things better this way.
Guy: Even knowing he’s human now, he’s still a very literal thinker - so he short-circuits. The floor is lava? But…but it isn’t. It’s a floor. Why is everyone avoiding the floor? He takes his slippers off and cautiously walks across the floor. It’s….a floor. He is visibly confused and stressed. Finally it’s Tsuzuru who notices and breaks character to explain what’s going on. Ohh! It’s a game! Like some of the others, he basically didn’t have a childhood so this game escaped him. Gets very matter-of-fact about traversing the dorm, but ultimately only does it once or twice. It’s too easy, and he’s not someone who wants to show off. Everyone else seems to be having a lot of fun with it, but he just doesn’t get what’s fun about it. Enjoys watching everyone else enjoy it, though.

Confession Headcanons
Tumblr media
@sekkimirai: hey!! i saw your a3 stuff and i think they’re pretty neat :D could i have some a3 troupe leaders hcs on confessions? who’s most likely to be the confessor(?) or confessee(?) HAHAHA thanks! hope u have a good one!! (^O^)
Tumblr media
Characters: Sakuya, Tenma, Banri, Tsumugi
Pairing: x reader
Reader: Gender Neutral
Tumblr media
Sakuya
Once Sakuya realizes that he has feelings for you he becomes all shy around you. But he is very determined to confess.
Sakuya would put a lot of thought into planning on how to confess to you. He doesn't want it to be very extravagant but he also wants it to be memorable.
When he's done with all the preparations he would ask you to come by the river side using it as an excuse saying that he wants you to help him practice some of his lines.
His line was him confessing to the love interest.
Sakuya finished deliviring his line and turns to you. "Was that good?" "That was great Sakuya!" You said smiling at him. He looks relieved and his smile widen. Then all of a sudden he looked at you straight at your eyes and repeated the line.
"That was meant for you. I'm in love with you y/n. Please go out with me."
Tumblr media
Tenma
He's too scared to confess. Yes he loves you but what if you don't feel the same way? What if you reject him? He's not sure if he can take that.
He kept his feelings to himself for a while but honestly he's too obvious that the whole Mankai dorm is aware of his feelings.
He's staying up late one night looking at a picture of you from his phone. He sighs over and over trying to make a decision to wether to confess to you or not.
What he doesn't know is his sighing kept Yuki awake and the younger one is definitely annoyed at Tenma.
Yuki shot up shouting at Tenma to make a decision already. Next thing Tenma knows the entire Summer Troupe is in their room.
The Summer Troupe encouraged and helped Tenma with his confession. Their discussion went longer than expected and the next morning none of them were able to attend their morning practice.
Tenma stood nervously looking at his phone. He messaged you to come and see him since he wants to tell you something. He's not sure if you're coming and he's honestly getting more nervous every passing second. "Chill Ten-ten. They'll be here. I'm sure!" Kazunari said before leaving with the rest of the Summer Troupe. The Summer Troupe planned to watch Tenma but Tenma kicked them out since he doesn't know if he can confess with those guys around. After a while he saw you walking near him. He cleared his throat as you approached.
"Y/N, there's something I've been meaning to tell you..."
Tumblr media
Banri
Banri would constantly flirt with you and is pretty obvious that he likes you, in fact, other people thinks you're dating already.
But this guy won't confess. If he senses that you'll ask him how he feels about you he would immediately change the topic.
It's not that he doesn't love you, but he wants you to confess to him. Yes that's right.
This guy is completely in love with you so he wants you to be completely in love with him as well before entering a relationship.
For the first time he's gonna be in a relationship with someone he truly loves so he wants to make sure the feeling is mutual.
So this can end with two scenarios:
One is where you confess to him first.
As you tell him what you feel he flashes that smug grin of his and pulled you close.
"Took you long enough."
But of course, Banri can still be impatient. So he would confess to you if he tired of waiting for you to confess to him.
"What? You're in love with me now?" you said jokingly. "Yeah, for a long time now actually" Banri said it with his usual cool expression but his voice is full of sincerity. You stand there not sure how to respond while he smirks at you. Unlike his past flirtings, you feel that this one was genuine.
Tumblr media
Tsumugi
Tsumugi's confession is very subtle that you won't even notice that he confessed his love for you. If you don't become a couple you can blame this man.
You two are out shopping together when he stopped by a flower shop and told you to wait outside for a bit. When he walked out he handed you a red tulip.
As he handed you the flower you notice that there was a certin emotion in his eyes but you can't exactly point out what. "The meaning of this flower...is for you to find out" he smiles and continues to walk back to the dorm.
If you immediately found out his intentions then you'll have to confess to Tsumugi that you like him back or else he wouldn't bother you about dating and stuff.
He doesn't mind if you reject him but he really wants you to know what he feels.
If you were not familiar with flower languages then he would keep giving you red tulips once in a while until you finally get that he's confessing his love to you.

a3! | confessing to juza hyodo...
because i spent the last few days watching all the juza content i could find and this boy makes my heart melt (*꒦ິ꒳꒦ີ)
part 1. part 2.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
at first, it is his dedication to acting that drew you to him - you admired his commitment and passion both on stage and behind the scenes
you would bring him something sweet to snack on whenever you noticed that he stayed up late learning his lines and he would help you out with chores in return
you are surprised and touched by juza’s thoughtful gestures because you didn’t know him well until then
juza’s caring nature and love for the troupe shines too brightly for you not to see that behind his impassive glare hid a kind heart that just couldn’t properly articulate its true feelings
juza is deeply grateful that you don’t judge him for his appearance and he feels like he can fully be himself around you. eventually you don’t even notice his glaring anymore because you know how kind juza actually is
you help him with his insecurities and always encourage him whenever he gets too stressed out or doubts his abilities. sometimes you read lines together and he comes to you for advice
to thank you for your continuous support, he invites you to sweets shops and surprises with you pastries
when juza realises that he is falling in love with you (what is this warmth in his stomach? why is his heart thumping much louder when you say his name?), he goes into a quiet state of panic. most of all he is afraid that his feelings for you will ruin what you had and that you wouldn’t want to hang out with him after that
poor clueless juza doesn’t even notice how your cheeks flush whenever he expresses his gratitude for you or your arms accidentally brush
the way you are so unapologetically yourself, kind and funny and enthusiastic about the world, makes him fall for you harder day after day
the idea that you could love him back doesn’t even cross his mind - he knows how hard he is to get along with because of his appearance, and though you are always kind to him, he thinks that you would’ve done the same for anyone and he is just another friend of yours
you end up implicitly confessing your feelings for juza to omi, who easily read between the lines. little did you know that juza also went to him for advice because he felt too distressed and clueless
now, omi has to work his magic to get the two of you to talk it out together. he asks both of you for help with baking and disappears to search for a mysterious ingredient, leaving the two of you alone
the confession scene is a bashful mess. omi may have hinted at each of you how the other felt, juza still doesn’t fully believe that you could like him back. he doesn’t want to pressure you into anything so he just hopelessly struggles to find the right words
eventually, you take the matter into your own hands. you confess to him first, but juza is so overwhelmed that he responds much quicker than usual. when omi returns, the tips of your ears are burning and juza is actively avoiding eye contact with him. that’s a win, omi smiles to himself and gives you a thumbs up
after that, juza doesn’t know how to act. omi gives you generous slices from the strawberry roll cake that you just baked and exits the kitchen to treat the rest of the company. you find yourselves alone in the kitchen again, having just barely recovered from the confession
juza is wondering whether he should kiss you or reach out for your hand or just act like he always did around you, as though nothing important had happened
the strawberry roll cake is delicious though, so you draw juza’s attention to that before making a move. as you eat, some of the timidity and tension dissipates and you manage to make small talk like you always did, happily discussing the softness of the texture and the sweetness of the cream
then, when you rise up to clean your plates, your hand brushes juza’s arm, hesitating slightly, asking him for permission with your touch, and he moves closer to you, carefully replicating your gesture as his cheeks prickle with warmth. your fingers cling onto the sleeve of his jacket more firmly then, and your lips meet in the middle, him gently leaning into you
juza tastes of sugar and strawberries. and to him, you are sweeter than any pastry he loves
when you pull away, juza doesn’t break eye contact, looking at you intently, and you take his calloused hand in yours. “i love you,” you say boldly, squeezing his hand. you feel braver now, ready to fight to make this love work. you wish to give juza all the affection he deserves and the world had denied him for so long
“i love you too, y/n.” his golden eyes are still firmly set on you, not letting go. a pang of anguish revives the fear that this could only be a dream, that the comforting pressure of your hand on his could vanish and he would drive you away, but he decides that he won’t back down. just like with acting, he will give this his all. it is him who kisses you then

The International Club's party [Omi Fushimi x reader]
Tumblr media
Pairing: Omi Fushimi x gn!reader | A3! Rating: Teen C/Ws: light platonic angst, romantic fluff, friends to lovers, reader is Omi’s university classmate Summary: You made plans to go to the International Club’s university party, but your friends cancel at the last minute. Luckily, Omi kindly offers to go with you. Word count: 3.4k A/N: I got the inspiration from this post I saw about Omi being good at English, so my thanks go to op <3 Set during Year 2
You breathed in and out slowly, trying to hold back a yawn. It was the last lesson for the day, and then you had a meet-up to look forward to in the evening. You could do that.
Bzzz.
You felt your phone vibrate under your table and cursed mentally. Quickly, you went to put it on silent mode and checked the notification that had made it buzz.
Sorry but I won’t be able to make it today :/
You closed your eyes, now less sleepy than ever. You should’ve seen it coming, really. It always happened like that in your group of friends. Whenever someone cancelled plans, it was a matter of hours before everyone else deserted too. The problem was, you couldn’t just cancel that plan, not when you had already promised the International Club that you’d be there for sure. And what was more, you had promised them you would bring somebody else to the party with you, too.
Guys, I already signed us up for tonight! Is there no way you can at least come for a bit? 🗸🗸
You heard the professor coughing and turned your screen off. What had been once a class you couldn’t wait to leave, was now a class you didn’t want to finish. Not when you knew once your friends said no, there was no changing their plans.
But alas, the lesson came to an end. You took your stuff and joined some of your classmates on your way to the exit.
“Finally, the weekend!”
“You have any plans?” Omi asked the classmate he was closest to.
“Yeah, I have to work but there is this friend of a friend that I’ll be meeting too.” He showed a cocky smile.
‘’Oh, a blind date?”
“Yes.”
“I’m so jealous,” you interrupted. “You’re here going on hot dates while my friends have completely ditched me today.”
“Aw, what were you going to do?” They refocused their attention on you, moving aside so you could go down the stairs with them.
“We were going to the International Club’s new event. Well, I’m still going, since I was the one who signed us up for it. I cannot say no now.” You sighed, focusing on not missing any steps. The last thing you needed was tripping and tumbling down the stairs. Or maybe that was exactly what you should do, so you could have an excuse to not go to the party.
“What’s the event about?” Omi asked, interrupting your thoughts.
“It’s a get-together in English. There will be some students from different English-speaking countries, and we’ll chat and play games in English. Like a cultural exchange event.”
“You can speak English well?” Your classmates looked at you in disbelief.
“Yeah, that was my second option for university, if I didn’t get into our program.” You finally arrived at the ground floor and turned around to look at them.
“Wow, I can’t relate at all. I always hated languages at school. But Omi, you’re good at it, aren’t you?”
“Well, I sometimes help the guys at our dorm with their English homework.” He simply shrugged, like it wasn’t a big deal. You still remembered how when you first met Omi, you thought that humbleness was fake, but now you could see it was painfully true.
“Like a tutor or something?”
“There is a designated tutor, but yeah, I guess I do the same whenever he isn’t available.” He chuckled lightly.
“So you would enjoy going to this International party, then?” Your classmate eyed both of you as if he had just come up with the solution to all your problems. Omi smiled tensely when he saw your reaction.
“That would actually save me. I promised the Club I’d bring at least one other person. And I’d love to have someone I know there.” You waited for an answer, but you could see Omi was hesitating. As much as the idea of him going with you was a miracle, you didn’t want to force him to do anything just because someone else had stood you up. “But it’s… you don’t have to. You’re not my stupid friends who ditch me every now and then.”
“Yeah, I can’t believe they ditched you. I wouldn’t do it. And… it’s been a while since the last time I made last-minute plans,” he said, nodding.
“So you’re in?” You couldn’t believe it, but you restrained yourself before you bounced up and down. You didn’t want to pressure him, knowing how accommodating Omi was.
“If there is enough time for me to go back to the dorms? I am on cooking duty today and I’m not sure someone else will be free,” he said while looking at his watch
“Yeah, sure. The party doesn’t start until 7 pm.” You anxiously bit your lip, waiting for his answer. You couldn’t believe how the events had unfolded. From going with your friends, to going alone with Omi… you felt your stomach churning. Being around Omi at university was one thing, when it was always in a group of people. But meeting with him for the first time outside of campus… you gulped down, forcing yourself to act as usual.
“Cool. I’ll see you there then?”
“Yeah, I’ll send you all the details in a message.” You waved at each other and also said goodbye to your classmate, going in different directions.
___
Your steps echoed as you walked as fast as you could without running. You weren’t late, but you weren’t early either. You cursed mentally as you remembered how if you hadn’t decided to get changed for the third time, you wouldn’t be in a situation like that.
Then, Omi came into view.
He was wearing a button-up shirt, and for a second there you felt completely underdressed. But it wasn’t his clothes, really. They were casual, perfect for an informal and friendly party like this one. It was the fact that he had also changed clothes, and that you were seeing him for the first time outside of the university campus, alone. And it felt too much like a date, except it wasn’t one.
You still didn’t really understand how this turn of events had happened, but you weren’t about to complain. Not even when you felt sweaty as you approached him at the exit of the station.
“Hey,” Omi greeted you with a small wave.
It wasn’t a long walk to the venue they had rented for the party, but you still had thought it better to go together instead of meeting directly at the place.
“I hope my English isn’t too rusty,” Omi casually joked while glancing at you.
“Oh, don’t worry. It’s not about speaking perfectly, but about welcoming and doing something for the other students. And learning a thing or two about their countries.” You offered him a reassuring smile. You weren’t about to let him run off now that he was there with you. “Plus, everyone will be speaking fluently once we start drinking.”
“There’ll be alcohol?”
“You don’t have to drink if you don’t want to, but yes. That’s the main reason why they had to find someplace outside of campus.”
“Good thing today is Friday,” Omi laughed and the sound made you melt. You had forgotten how much you really liked his laugh and everything that came from him. But you soon recollected yourself. You had to keep yourself in check tonight, especially when Omi was being as charming as usual, which meant extremely. You had to find someone at the party to distract you from showing your feelings too much. You didn’t want to scare him away and make him misinterpret your intentions. You were there together as friends, after all.
When you reached the venue, you greeted the hosts and found out some people had also cancelled last minute. Even then, there were quite a few students, both international and national, and there were plenty of snacks and drinks.
Soon enough you started doing some rounds of introductions in English, and you were glad to find out everyone seemed quite friendly and relaxed. And Omi, being humble, had completely misjudged his own ability in English. You had to admit it was impressive and hot. You were so surprised that you had forgotten you weren’t supposed to stare at him so much.
“Your accent is pretty sexy.” Those words startled you out of your haze, and you looked to your side. You vaguely remembered this person’s introduction, but before you could think of anything to reply, Omi moved to stand closer to you.
“Oh, I didn’t know accents could be sexy. What about mine then?” His tone of voice was relaxed, even chirpy, but it nevertheless sent a clear message that they didn’t fail to catch. As the person left, Omi sighed, running his fingers through his short hair.
“Sorry I butted in. Just… let me know if you want me to go hang out somewhere else.” He looked at you apologetically, and it took everything in you not to shoot your hand out and cling to his shirt. You didn’t do it, of course, but he also never left your side. You were grateful for it, especially as time passed by and you started playing drinking games. You really wanted to see Omi being drunk, although you had a hunch that it wouldn’t be so easy to see.
And you’d soon regret having felt so hyper about it.
“Truth or dare!” One of the hosts screamed as the bottle stopped spinning. It pointed clearly in your direction.
Clearing your thoughts, you wondered if you even had an option. You weren’t about to let them order you to do something weird – you could still hear the faint coughing of the guy that had to eat cinnamon a few turns ago.
“Truth.”
“Is there anyone you want to kiss at this party?”
Of course, it had to be a question like that. You were glad it wasn’t anything even more personal.
“Yes.” You tried to say it confidently like it didn’t matter because it was only a game. But your voice came out too breathy to not reveal your embarrassment.
“Who is it?”
“Only one question per turn!” Someone else shouted.
You sighed with relief when they offered you the bottle to spin around for the next person. Your mind was too busy to think of a proper question or dare, so you went with the typical ‘tell us your most embarrassing story.’ Some people complained that was too soft, but fortunately, the person you asked was a great storyteller and soon enough everyone was absorbed in their story.
Everyone but you.
What had pushed you to tell the truth? Of course, it was a game of truth or dare, and by the rules, you should always tell the truth, but even then… What would you do if the bottle spun again and landed on you? You already knew they’d ask who it was. And this time, there was no way you could lie. What would happen if you told the truth?
You glanced at Omi, who was sitting next to you. He was looking at his phone with a frown, and just a second later, he got up and placed the device next to his ear. Was it some sort of emergency?
You tried to refocus your attention on the game, but when a few minutes passed and Omi was still not coming back, you started worrying something bad had happened, so you decided to get up and search for him. Everyone was too excited to pay attention to you, so you easily slipped away from the circle and the room, into the hallway, where you found him still speaking on the phone, now with a less bothered expression on his face.
It wasn’t long till he noticed you and offered you a surprised smile. He quickly shut the conversation and hang up.
“Shouldn’t you be inside the party?” Omi asked approaching you. You simply shrugged your shoulders. “You may lose your chance with that guy. And I won’t take responsibility for it twice.” He joked, but you wanted to laugh for completely different reasons. He thought that random person who had started speaking with you had caught your attention?
“For the record… I didn’t want to kiss that guy.”
“Huh?”
“When they asked me if there was someone I wanted to kiss there, and I said yes… I didn’t mean them.” If there was anything you knew, it was that you didn’t want Omi to believe you had a crush on anyone else.
“Oh. Oh. So someone else caught your eye? So they didn’t even stand a chance.” He laughed and rubbed his neck, visibly uncomfortable. You bit your lip to contain a smile. Yes, no one at the party stood a chance against Omi, but sadly, his thoughts were the opposite at that exact moment. “And who was the lucky one?”
“I also talked with the person,” you ventured, trying to redirect his attention in an attempt to find out the difference in Omi’s mannerisms, how he expressed his discomfort, how he really felt about you, and whether he was simply curious, embarrassed or annoyed.
“Oh. When? I didn’t see you talk much to anyone in particular.” His expression suddenly changed to a serious one, his gaze fixated on you.
“Well, I did.” You wanted to laugh. He probably meant he hadn’t seen anyone else flirting with you, but you had talked with several people. That made you confident that you could just tease him and hide your real feelings. Except, Omi’s humility played tricks on you.
“When? I was next to you for the most part. Unless you mean me.” He chuckled, showing that it was a joke. You felt adrenaline rush through your body, but there was nothing you could do now, so you didn’t deny it. You didn’t want to deny it. The silence between you two stretched for a while as if he was waiting for your reaction. When you couldn’t hold his gaze anymore, something clicked inside him. “You mean ME?!” Omi looked around, realizing he had spoken too loudly. The hallway was mostly empty, but one of the people there turned to look at you with curiosity. When he made sure no one was paying attention to you two anymore, he looked back at you.
“I had a really good time today, Omi. Thank you, you turned what seemed like a disaster into memories I am glad to have.” You smiled at him, not wanting to make things awkward. “I think I should leave now.” You started walking away, unsure if you were making a mistake, but you really didn’t know how to solve that situation.
“Wait!” He rubbed his neck again, but now his discomfort felt slightly different. “You can’t just… throw that bomb and run off.”
“Okay?” You weren’t sure if that meant he felt the same way or not.
“We can walk to the station together?” He suggested, shoving his hands into the pockets of his jeans.
You agreed, and after saying goodbye to the hosts of the party, you left. It was slightly chillier than before, the Autumn breeze moving the treetops on the street.
“I am glad I came,” Omi said, breaking the silence. “We haven’t… gone out much together since we were first years, but I really enjoy your company.” He glanced at you, offering a short smile. “We should hang out more.”
“Yeah, I’d love that.” You sighed, unsure whether he really meant it or if it was one of those promises that came from politeness. You knew Omi was a nice guy, so he probably didn’t want to make things awkward between you two. “I guess I have to thank my friends for ditching me this time, otherwise you wouldn’t have come with me.”
“I guess I also have to thank them, then.” Omi laughed softly, compelling you to look at him. “I’ll also have to think of a plan for next time, since it was you who invited me this time.”
Was that… a date? No, you couldn’t let yourself get carried away and misunderstand him like that. It was just…him expressing interest? Omi Fushimi was saying he’d plan the next time you hang out? The guy you had liked since the first day of university, but that you had given up on after seeing how popular he was and how full his hands were not just with classes but also with acting, was now saying he wanted to spend time with you like that?
“Um, sure! I look forward to it.” You hoped your voice hadn’t trembled there. You had been bold enough to hint at your feelings for him because you genuinely thought you had no chance, but he’d be nice enough to ignore it. That, and the alcohol – it gave you courage and hope that in the worst-case scenario, maybe you wouldn’t even remember it, or you could always play it off as a joke. And now, it was way better than a joke.
“Great. I’ll have to make sure not to disappoint you.” Omi smiled again, and this time you felt the air between you two relaxing.
“I think that’s impossible,” you blurted out before you could register the words. It seemed, today you just couldn’t control your mouth.
“Thank you.” Omi laughed; his cheeks tinted a faint pink.
Fortunately, the entrance to the station was near. You felt conflicted because you didn’t want that day to end, but at the same time, you didn’t trust your mouth anymore. It was already a miracle that Omi didn’t think you were embarrassing yourself.
“Could you wait here a second?” Omi suddenly interrupted your thoughts, and you stopped in the middle of the road. He jogged to a nearby vending machine and searched his pockets for change. When he came back to where you were standing, he handed you a water bottle. “Here.”
“Why?” You were slightly confused by that sudden act of generosity.
“Well, we both had something to drink and now you have to go back home alone.”
So, he thought it would help you sober up a bit more just in case.
“You’re saying I am acting completely drunk now?” You feigned being bothered to tease him.
“No! You’re not! I’m just worried, that’s all.” He shook his hands in front of you, wanting to reassure you. “Our stops are in opposite directions, but I can-”
“Omi, it’s fine. I’m fine. Thank you for the water.” You opened it and started drinking. “See? You don’t have to worry.”
He smiled awkwardly, and under the faint lights of the streetlamps, you saw his cheeks were still pink.
“You are a really responsible drunkard, you know?” You said, believing that was a symptom of the alcohol he had consumed. “Here, you should drink some, too.”
He accepted the bottle and took a few gulps before giving it back to you.
“Oh, no, you can keep it. I think you need it more than I do,” you said. It seemed that he was becoming more flushed the more time passed.
“I thought… you wanted to…” he trailed off, looking away from you, but still holding out the bottle for you to take it.
“I wanted to?”
“…indirectly,” he whispered, confusing you further. Maybe he really had a low alcohol tolerance? You hadn’t seen him drink that much. Seeing your confusion, Omi decided to speak up. “I thought you wanted to kiss me indirectly, so this would…”
His words made you blush violently, finally comprehending the meaning behind his words. You took the bottle from him, your heart beating madly.
“I’ll see you at university,” you said, wanting to run away. You started walking again, getting inside the station before he could follow you, and preparing your pass. He rushed inside.
“Text me when you get home,” Omi said to your back. You didn’t dare look back, but you waved your hand just in case.
--
You:      I just got home. 🗸🗸
I hope you arrived home without any problems too. 🗸🗸
Omi:      I still have a few stations left.
maybe I’ll use the time to start planning for our date.
any places you want to go to?
wait, don’t tell me. I want to surprise you :)
You squealed and sunk your face into your pillow, feeling giddy. It would be a date.

.izumi x gn! reader.
crush!izumi who thought you were rather cute when you came up to her to take one of the theatre's flyers.
crush!izumi who's never been the nervous type when it came to talking to people but found she had trouble speaking when it came to you for whatever reason.
crush!izumi who found herself thinking about you more than she normally would with anyone else (considering you were practically strangers).
crush!izumi who immediately noticed you among the audience when it was time for the play to start.
crush!izumi who gathered her courage and went up to talk to you, asking whether you liked the play and if you had the time, maybe you and her could go out and talk... about the play, of course!
crush!izumi who felt butterflies when you smiled, and somehow felt even happier when you agreed.
crush!izumi who dressed her best when it was finally time to meet with you, rechecking the mirror over and over as she tried to smooth out imaginary imperfections.
crush!izumi who tried her best to stay on the topic of theatre but somehow drifted off-topic, and now the two of you are talking about your favourite things, curry (though admittedly that was mostly her), and other subjects that are usually discussed on dates and not friendly outings with someone you just met.
crush!izumi who can be quite dense when it comes to love and silently wondered if you kissing her on the cheek at the end of your "outing" meant anything more than friendship.
crush!izumi who now sees you every week to talk about the company among other things, and she realizes it's nice to chat with someone who isn't from her theatre.
crush!izumi who still doesn't know why her fingers feel tingly and her heartbeats get all weird when you smile.
crush!izumi who still doesn't know why she wants to try to do anything to make you happy, even if you aren't feeling sad in the first place.
crush!izumi who is an intelligent, independent woman- but romance just escapes her sometimes, so it takes azuma to point out that she's in love with you for her to realize her feelings.
crush!izumi who doesn't know what to do around you once it's brought to light how she feels about you.
crush!izumi who blurts out that she likes you (romantically, in case you still haven't caught on) and feels her heart slowly break when all she gets is silence.
crush!izumi who is now girlfriend!izumi when you pull her in to kiss her, and she feels more content than she's ever felt in your arms- she's just so happy with you, and she silently thinks about how mean you were for not being in her life sooner. but she guesses she can forgive you, just this once.

Hisoka Mikage with an S/O with PTSD
A/N: I wrote this because I have PTSD and I love Hisoka, so I thought why not write Hisoka comforting his S/O who has PTSD ;^;; this is really self-indulgent but I hope y’all enjoy nonetheless! If you’d like to see any other symptoms not mentioned here, let me know!
CW(s): nondescript mentions of flashbacks, nondescript mentions of nightmares
❅ Hisoka Mikage
Hisoka has had his own share of numbers and unwanted memories, so although he can’t completely relate, he can understand a little bit.
When you decide to tell him that you have PTSD, he just holds you close. He doesn’t ask ‘why?’ or any other questions- in his mind they’re details he doesn’t need to know unless you’re comfortable with telling him.
If you decide to tell him what event(s) caused your PTSD, he will listen intently, focusing on every word you say. He lets you talk about anything and everything relating to, or not relating to, the event(s). He doesn’t ask questions, unless you explicitly tell him he can, not wanting to ask for details you’re not comfortable sharing. It doesn’t matter if you’re vague, or go into more detail, he listens and, if you want, he offers comfort when you’re done talking about it.
The first time you have a flashback in front of him, he slightly panics. On the outside, he appears more calm and collected, not wanting to appear ‘freaked out’ in front of you, but on the inside he’s concerned and slightly frantic. If you’re able to talk, he asks if he can touch you. If you say yes, he’ll either rub your back or hold you in an act of comfort. If you say no, he won’t touch you, and will not try to comfort you with physical gestures until you tell him he can, if that’s what you want. No matter if you can talk or not, he’ll try to “pull you out of it” by telling you you’re okay, you’re safe, you’re not there anymore, etc. He’ll coax you to name things you can smell, see, taste, feel, and hear as it’s a grounding technique. After the flashback is over, he’ll ask if you’re okay and what he can do to help, if there is anything he can do to help. If there is, he’ll do literally anything you ask of him. Once you’ve calmed down a bit, he asks if you want to talk about it. If you say no, he drops it and asks if you’d rather have a distraction, but if you say yes, he listens intently. He also asks what he should do if you have another flashback, not wanting to do something that may make it worse.
The first time you have a nightmare in front of him, it’s the same. Internally he panics, externally he’s calm and collected. He tries to wake you up, to pull you out of your nightmare, while saying “It’s okay. You’re safe. You’re somewhere safe. It’s okay. You’re okay.” Once you wake up, he asks if you want to talk about it, opening up that communication if you need it. If you’d rather not talk about it, he asks if you’d rather have a distraction. Either way, he asks if he can do anything to help, and if there’s anything he should do if it happens in the future.
He’ll ask if you have any triggers he should be mindful of, whether it be phrases, actions, places, etc. He doesn’t want to do something that’ll accidentally trigger you.

LAVENDER LEMONADE [KOBY X READER]
[SUMMARY] you've had a crush on the koby for the longest time, but he only ever seems interested in talking to your coworker, luffy. you're not sure why the two seem to be engaged in some sort of secret conversation this time around, though. [PRONOUNS] gender neutral [GENRE] modern + coffee shop au [POV] second person [WORD COUNT] 2321 [CONTENT] fluff | assumed one-sided affection | awkward confessions | somewhat crack humor | joking about murder & suicide (in the gen z/millennial way) [A/N] belongs to this one shot collection. honestly did not intend for it to be as long as it is but I apparently have a lot of feelings for koby
Smooth jazz filtered through the air, mixing in perfectly with the lax attitude of the cafe and the light ringing of the bells above the door.
You liked Sunday afternoons. More specifically, you liked Sunday afternoons in late April to early June. Spring was in full swing, if not beginning to dip into summer, and the light blue sky and quiet breeze exuded an air of calmness into your usually quite hectic life.
Regardless of the season, though, Sunday afternoons were always a welcome respite; the morning rush finished with and the end of the week close on your heels. Suffice it to say, there were many things you liked about Sunday afternoons, but if you had to pick a favorite…
Well, it wasn’t a hard decision.
“Hey, [Name]-san!” Koby greeted you, grinning ear-to-ear. You beamed, heart skipping a beat at his kind eyes. “It’s good to see you, as always.”
“I told you not to call me that, just [Name] is fine! But yeah, you too, Koby.” You looked at the blond, sunglasses-wearing man (why he insisted on wearing them indoors, you would never know) next to him. “And you, Helmeppo.” Just once, once you wished Koby would show up to the cafe without Helmeppo. Not that you didn’t like the guy– he was fine. It’d just be easier to ask for Koby’s number without him there, embarrassment eating you alive slowly.
The blond returned your polite greeting just before Koby spoke again. “Is Luffy-san working today?”
And there it was, the real reason Koby insisted on coming to the cafe every Sunday: Luffy. You knew Koby frequented the cafe on other days as well, though Sundays were the day he always visited, without fail. You weren't a hundred percent sure why, considering Luffy didn't always work on Sundays, but you figured that it had to do with his schedule. It would have been stupid for you to even entertain the idea that Koby was a regular at the cafe because of you, especially since he always asked for your coworker if he didn’t spot him working the register. Plus, you knew he’d been a regular long before you began working at the Thousand Sunny, but still. You could pretend, couldn’t you?
No, of course not, not when he was looking at you so expectantly.
At first you’d wondered if Koby had a crush on Luffy, but then Nami informed you that it was more hero-worship than anything else. Luffy had apparently gotten Koby out of a really bad job and had somewhat indirectly connected him to his grandfather, who took him and Helmeppo under his wing.
It made sense, honestly, for Koby to look at Luffy with such admiration. You couldn’t blame him.
It still stung a little, though.
“Yeah, he’s just in the back bugging Sanji. I’ll go get him for you.” Your smile turned a little sad, despite your best efforts, and without waiting for a response you headed to the back, making your way to the kitchen. Sanji was fending off a rabid Luffy, yelling at him to get back to work and stop pestering him for the meat he was in the process of cooking.
“Luffy!” You called, grabbing both his and Sanji’s attention. “Koby’s looking for you.”
Your interruption allowed Luffy to snake his weirdly flexible arm past Sanji’s block and snag the meat right off the pan, tossing it in his mouth before the cook had a chance to stop him. “Koby!” Luffy cheered through a mouth full of food, launching himself past you to explode through the door. You offered Sanji a sympathetic shrug and ignored the way his expression went from aggravated to concerned, quickly following your coworker back to the front.
Luffy was perched on the counter, already engrossed in a conversation with his visitor, poor Helmeppo trying to get a word in when he could between the two’s rapid chatter. With a quiet sigh you input their regular order into the register and applied the friends and family discount, like you always did, and prepped it for their usual form of payment. Helmeppo noticed, like he always did, and paid as you went to work making their drinks.
A medium iced chai for Helmeppo, and a medium lavender lemonade for Koby. Sweet and pretty, just like him.
You silently made the drinks, the receipt rolling from the machine after the payment had been processed. By the time you turned back to the counter with the completed order, Luffy and Koby had disappeared, though you were quick to spot them in the far corner of the cafe. It looked like Koby was desperately urging Luffy to lower his voice, which you knew would be a losing battle. Despite how loud Luffy was, you couldn’t really make out what they were saying, the ambient noise doing just enough to drown out their words.
“Thanks, [Name].” Helmeppo nodded appreciatively, taking his drink from you while you placed Koby’s on the counter.
With no customers in line or looking to be in need of assistance, you leaned against the counter and folded your arms across your chest, nodding at the two men.
“What’s all that about?”
Helmeppo flinched, which, granted, was a bit odd, but you let it slide; you didn’t often talk directly to the guy, so it made sense that he’d be surprised by your words.
“Koby had something he wanted to ask Luffy-san about.”
“Really?” You frowned.
“Yeah. Just wanted some advice.” Helmeppo took a sip of his drink.
Your frown deepened. “Advice? What for?”
You got a shrug in response, which caused your lips to twist into a pout. You knew it wasn’t any of your business, but you honestly could not think of a single subject anyone would want to go to Luffy to for advice. He was a better soundboard for spontaneous decisions, always willing to support you if you wanted a quick adventure or had an idea you were just a bit too nervous to try on your own.
Faster than you thought possible, Luffy darted away from Koby, jumping over the counter and leaping into the back. You watched with wide eyes, continuously confused by his insistence of never entering or exiting the coffee bar in a normal way.
Glancing back to Koby, you saw that he had gone strangely pale, wide eyes flickering to yours for just a moment. He looked… nervous?
“Hey! Luffy, what are you-”
And then suddenly Luffy and Nami appeared, the former grasping the latter’s hand in a tight grip as he tugged her past the coffee bar and out to the cafe proper, ignoring the annoyed and disgruntled looks of the patrons who, honestly, should have been used to his antics by then.
Luffy dragged Nami to where Koby stood, and then the three began talking. Koby and Nami kept their voices low while Nami slapped a hand over Luffy’s mouth, effectively muffling his words.
Taking a moment to process what just happened, you eventually sighed and pulled yourself away from the counter, deciding it’d be best to just focus on tidying up rather than focus on whatever that was.
Well, at least with Nami present, Koby would hopefully be able to get some decent advice.
Helmeppo remained by the counter, sipping on his drink as he shifted his attention between his phone and the trio in the corner. Fine by you, you weren’t necessarily in the mood for chatting, anyways.
By the time you’d relegated yourself to wiping down the counters, the three had begun to disperse. Luffy had his signature, extremely large grin taking up most of his face, Nami was looking at you with a slight smirk and sparkle in her eyes, and Koby looked like he wanted to die.
At that point you weren’t sure you even wanted to know what had been discussed.
Luffy opened his mouth, but Nami quickly yanked him into the back before he could say anything. Helmeppo and Koby exchanged a few quiet words before the blond straight up left, nodding at you before he swiftly exited the cafe, effectively leaving you and Koby all alone.
“I’m scared to ask, but what was all that about?” You questioned after a minute, tilting your head to the side. “Helmeppo said you wanted to ask Luffy for some advice, which probably isn't necessarily the best idea, unless you were wanting encouragement to just go for whatever–”
“Will you go on a date with me?”
You stopped. Your jaw dropped, all words and thoughts disappearing from your mind in rapid succession. The world stopped spinning, and you’re pretty sure your heart stopped beating for a second there, too.
“Come again?”
Koby looked positively terrified, but you saw his Adam’s apple bob as he swallowed and seemed to muster his confidence. “I’m asking if you’d like to go on a date with me, [Name]-san.”
“Why?” You spluttered out, unable to stop yourself. God, just say yes! Why are you like this?
His face was impossibly red, but he maintained eye contact. “I’ve liked you for a while now, ever since I saw you on that first Sunday we met. I- I thought you were incredibly beautiful, but I didn’t know if you’d ever feel the same way.” His jaw clenched. “Luffy’s been telling me to just tell you, that you liked me too, but I didn’t believe him.”
Luffy knew? Luffy told Koby that you liked him? Luffy had somehow managed to keep his mouth shut about the entire thing for God knows how long?
Oh, you were going to kill him. You were going to ring his rubber-like neck–
“It wasn’t until he brought Nami-san out to confirm that you felt the same way that I was able to build up the courage to ask.”
Oh my God, you were going to kill not just one, but two coworkers.
Sorry, Sanji. It had to be done.
“B- but if they were lying, and just messing with me, I- I completely understand!” Your eyes refocused, spotting the panic quickly enveloping his demeanor. “I- I’m sorry for bothering you, I’ll never talk to you again if you don’t want me to, I’m so sorry–”
He must have taken your silence as rejection. Your heart twisted in your chest, beating wildly against your ribcage.
“Oh my God, no! No!” You interrupted him, waving your hands in the air and shaking your head enthusiastically. “No! Koby, no! I’m sorry, I was thinking about how I was going to kill Luffy and Nami, that’s all!” You cringed as the words left your mouth. Just how badly could you fumble this opportunity? “N- not because they lied to you or anything! They didn’t! That’s why I have to kill them. I can’t believe they ratted on me–”
“Wait, so you really do like me too?” His words stopped you dead in your tracks, the smallest hint of hope audible to your ears. You took the moment to refocus, taking in the way the panic had begun to ebb away from his features. He was looking at you with a softness that made your knees weak, the corners of his lips twitching into a faint smile.
“Koby, I– yes.” I have been hopelessly crushing on you since we met. “Yes, I like you too, and yes, I’d love to go on a date with you.”
It felt like you were back in high school, but you couldn’t find it in yourself to care.
The smile Koby directed at you was a reward in and of itself. You’d never seen him so happy, so relieved; you wanted to make him smile like that all the time.
He laughed, light and pleasant and wonderful. “I’m so glad. Thank you, [Name]-san–”
“Wait.” You held up a finger, stopping him in his tracks. His eyes widened. “I will go on a date with you, but only on one condition.”
You felt a little bad, seeing the way he quickly reverted to the meek, nervous Koby from before. “O- okay?”
“You have to stop calling me [Name]-san.”
It took a second, but he smiled and laughed again, eventually nodding. “Fine, I suppose that’s fair.” And there he was again, the confident, happy Koby you admired oh so much. “When does your shift end?”
“In about three hours.” You glanced at the clock, unable to stop the frown from appearing on your lips.
“Perfect! I have some errands I need to run, but would you like to get dinner with me once you're off?”
You looked back at him, cocking an eyebrow. “Just the two of us? No Helmeppo?”
He chuckled and rubbed the back of his head bashfully. “No Helmeppo.”
“Then yes, I would love that. But, uh, give me some time to get changed and ready and all that, first. Meet back here in about three and a half hours?”
“Sounds good.” He looked so happy, so pleased with himself and your response. You couldn’t help but attempt to match the brightness of his smile. “I’ll see you then, [Name].” The way he said your name without the honorific made you shiver. “Thanks for the drink.” He grabbed the long-forgotten lemonade and offered you a little wave, one which you happily returned.
“Any time. See you in a bit.”
With one last satisfied nod, Koby exited the cafe. You watched through the windows as Helmeppo attacked, throwing an arm around his friend’s shoulders, mouth moving a mile a minute. You flushed, the events of the past few minutes finally catching up to you, and you suddenly became aware that you were in public.
That entire exchange had been in public.
You wanted to crawl into a hole.
