650 to go
Jeanne Dielman, 23, Quai du Commerce 1080 Bruxelles (1975, dir. Chantal Akerman): I feel like the worst kind of film snob when I say this is my favorite movie I’ve seen this year but, uh. Yeah. This is possibly my favorite movie I’ve seen this year.
Last Year at Marienbad (1961, dir. Alain Resnais): Resnais frustrates me because I like his films more in theory than in execution. That’s to say that this movie is gorgeous to look at and it contains a lot of interesting ideas but I found it kind of boring.
Stroszek (1977, dir. Werner Herzog): I don’t think I’ve ever felt such profound sympathy for such a flawed bunch of characters.
Kramer vs. Kramer (1979, dir. Robert Benton): I’d say this movie reminded me of what a great actress Meryl Streep is but I never forgot in the first place. But that kid is great, one of the best child actor performances I’ve seen.
A Question of Silence (1982, dir. Marleen Gorris): This movie is forty years old and somehow more timely than ever.
Taste of Cherry (1997, dir. Abbas Kiarostami): I wish I hadn’t read the summary and gone in completely blind but this was still an incredibly affecting watch. Absolutely emotionally devastating in the most understated way.
Mother and Son (1997, dir. Aleksandr Sokurov): The cinematography is unreal and it elevates an already great movie to a completely unique one.
An Affair to Remember (1957, dir. Leo McCarey): Started off strong, I liked the way their relationship started and progressed, but it lost me in the latter half.

I hate how Jews here feel the need to give the "I'm pro-Palestine, pro-peace and donate to Palestinian aid" disclaimer before daring to call out 1930s grade antisemitism.
I have my disagreements with anti-Zionist Jews(NOT synonymous with the Jews Idiscussed above), but if they'll have me(BIG big if), I will not hesitate to jump to their side when it comes to calling out Protocols of the Elders of Zion tropes with swapped words.
I know why they do it - because that's the only way they have a faint chance of being taken seriously when they talk about receiving death threats, being doxxed and dismissed on the spot as "being hysterical".
Why is Jewish humanity conditional on centering everyone but ourselves?
Why can't Jews as a whole be seen and believed when we say "we experience antisemitism"?
Why do some Jewish opinions(ones that don't involve centering goyim, Palestinian or otherwise) make your stance on antisemitism invalid?

Okay gang, here's a silly little game. I've assembled six teams of blended Narnia and Tolkien/LotR characters. Here they are:

For bonus points, tell me in the tags where you're going on your road trip, who has what role (driving, snacks, aux) on the road, and what you'll stop off and see along the way

The news has reached me that there are canon female custodes, and that the reactions have been mmm well, mixed. I don’t play custodes on tabletop but i do love the faction, and i think it’s an interesting and harmless little addition to the setting. Somewhere in the mists of time some custodes put his genhanced transhuman mind to work and asked himself “What if instead of just taking boy babies for the Full Genome Restructuring Into An Exalted Demigod…what if we took all the babies.” Now we have the Golden Roughly Twenty Thousand, double the protection for the Emperor😌

steve ‘floor time’ harrington and eddie ‘no one touch or perceive me’ munson. they flinch at every noise even though they expected a good night, a stable night, but something changed and they’re in sensory overload. steve tries to take eddie’s hand but he pulls away immediately, shrinking in on himself. steve hums and cocks his head, signalling eddie to follow him.
they leave the loud and lively living room, the kids yelling all over each other, and find a dark and empty room and just lie on the floor for a while before they’re ready to come back. they don’t talk, don’t touch, just lie there next to each other. eddie takes steve’s hand when he’s ready for touch again. they start talking in hushed voices, bringing noise back, rebooting their senses, slowly and gently easing each other in again.
when they come back, hand in hand, mike turns down the music and lucas makes sure to remind people not to talk too loudly. the boys are drained, but the kids try their best. they’re all trying their best.

Hannibal Lecter is not a psychopath. He has almost as much, if not as much, empathy as Will Graham does. And he suffers equally for it.
“Extreme acts of cruelty require a high level of empathy”.
And who is crueler than the Chesapeake Ripper, Il Mostro di Firenze, Hannibal the Cannibal?
Who is crueler than Hannibal Lecter?
