What if Draco was raised by Merlin & Arthur? Like, for any reason, Draco was raised by Merthur.

Of course Draco took more of Arthur than Merlin would've preferred, but that doesn't really matter.

And of course when Draco starts dating Harry, Arthur and Merlin were teasing their kid nonstop about how whipped for Harry he seems.

242,705, which is absolute madness. didn't even realise i have that much to say abt merlin and arthur lol

3. What fandoms do you write for?

BBC Merlin xx

4. Top 5 fics by kudos?

stone cold: the one where merlin was turned into stone. bit heavy i have to admit, no idea what i was on when i wrote it

through storm and hellfire: the one where merlin was kidnapped to force Destiny™'s hand , things went to shit, and arthur went through a Difficult Journey of Discovery (or: the wringer) where he learnt that his dad was not, in fact, a good guy....among other things

flickering embers: the one where arthur lost merlin to the veil between the worlds only for merlin to be spat back out, lose his memory, and become a druid leader

winning the battle: the one where old religion claims everything that makes merlin merlin as a price for the immense magic he used to win arthur's battle

quiet light: the one where merlin stayed mad after agravaine convinced arthur that gaius was a traitor

my takeaway from this is that people enjoy it when i make arthur suffer

5. Do you respond to comments?

i do try but i am genuinely horrible at it. it's so so nice to receive them and i read every single one but i kind of don't know how to respond to them sometimes. one day we will get there

6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

i did intend for the long way round ANd a line that goes all the way to have angsty endings but oops guess my hand slipped.

the number of times i intended a fic to have an angsty ending only for me to faff with it later... unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on where you stand on this) my mind would not let me rest until I added a happier ending

7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

the three trials. it ended well for everybody. and not to toot my own horn or anything but i'm quite happy with it. i think i have a tendency to rush endings generally speaking, but i quite enjoyed writing the ending to this one.

8. Do you get hate on fics?

not yet and tbh i'd prefer to keep it this way thank you xx

9. Do you write smut?

i do like thinking about writing it but i just can't bring myself to actually type it out before i give myself the ick. maybe one day

i think the fact that im still in here 10 (?) years after the show ended on says something about merthur lol. once and future ship init

the sword and his shield. i still really like the concept i have for it and i still have the ideas for it rattling around in my head, but i just feel like it flopped. i write for myself and clear my head of plotlines and random bits of dialogue rather than external validation, but it just feels a bit like mumbling into the void

16. What are your writing strengths?

banter and describing emotions that are not my own <3

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

worldbuilding. coming up with the concept is fine, i can do that, but i find the keeping track on them challenging

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language?

i mean if somebody else wants to do it, go for it, fair play, but personally i will not. only because i can't be 100% sure that i wouldn't get things wrong

fairly sure i wrote HP (drarry), just never published it. don't remember what it was about, either.

the first one i published on ao3 was marvel (stevebucky). i have not touched it since my return to fandom and tbh im not going to

20. Favourite fic you've ever written?

i feel like i should say storm and hellfire because it is my child, it is the longest thing i've ever written, and i feel like it is the only thing i write that resembles an Actual Story (idk how else to put it). i surprised myself by actually finishing it. think it took about two years and i was a bit bereft after the last chapter was posted.

that being said, the fic i enjoy rereading the most (i.e. without cringing) is probably a line that goes all the way. it ticks all my own boxes and caters to all my interests lmao what can i say

Yes, absolutely. I've made some fun acquaintances in my comment section, and even some friends. I like discussing my stories and comments are a great place to do that without being annoying or bragging or a million other things my anxiety likes to yell at me for. I love answering questions and talking back about theories, etc. I think I've really done a good job of fostering a good comment section!!

6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

Um, it's a Scoops guarantee that my fics will have happy endings, but the angiest I would say is The Mushroom King and The Nightmare but I have other stories with angstier middles lol

7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Lol, literally all of them I am such a sap

8. Do you get hate on fics?

I saw someone talk about me on tumblr once and they said I should drown, so? Not directly, but sorta? I dunno, it just makes me laugh. Sorry you didn't like my mpreg story, it was never that serious

Yup. I write all the things, with varying degrees of success. My smut is usually really emotionally focused with um lots of strange metaphor and a sprinkle of humor.

I had someone do a very bad podfic of one of my teen wolf fics--I say bad because it's a mechanical voice and half of it doesn't even work

HAHA, bro, I don't know. Tension? Dialogue? realistic angst? Making unrealistic tropes seem extremely plausible. You tell me, buddy

Setting. I always forget about the setting until the last second. Um, I'm not sure what else? Ask Alison

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

I'd prefer that if I can't figure it out in context, that it's written in italics or something and said to be that language. Unless the point of me as the reader not being able to understand is that I'm not supposed to understand along with the character, then that's fine.

IFD 2023 - Crossover and Fusion Fic Recs

Look. It would be tacky to recommend my own crossover fic. So I'm not gonna do that. But here are some current faves in that arena, from multiple fandoms (all of these are from AO3, though if I had time I would dig for some old FF.Net ones)

The End of Magic (Avalon High/BBC Merlin) Where Allie is the Lady of the Lake as she was in the book, while Miles is still Merlin and still in love with said Lady of the Lake. Ending’s a bit sad, but there are so few Avalon High fics, let alone Merlin crossovers, so I had to rep.

every breath, every hour has come to this (Avalon High/BBC Merlin) Merlin never reincarnated in Miles, but Arthur reincarnated into Allie. Merlin finally finds Arthur after all this time, and gets a bit of a shock. Merthur.

if you ever did believe (Ted Lasso/Practical Magic fusion) Rebecca is a witch cursed to either die of a broken heart or become consumed with bitterness. After Rupert betrays her, she's leaning towards bitterness... but a spell cast in her youth may come back to change all that. Lots of interesting departures from the Practical Magic plot specifics while still capturing the magical feel. Also, even funnier since Hannah Waddingham has played a witch more than once. Also Ted/Rebecca centric, which is just adorable.

The Schneiders of Stars Hollow (Marvelous Mrs. Maisel/Gilmore Girls) "Jess is tasked with taking a delivery order to 36 Maple, where a nice old couple from New York spend a few months out of the year. It turns out that the Schneiders are...not quite who Jess thinks they are." (Or: Lenny Bruce marries Midge instead of dying of an overdose in the 60s. Marital bliss and a name change ensues). I just love this idea so much. I'm not even much of a Midge/Lenny shipper, but the idea of them as an old couple wintering in Stars Hollow and snarking at the goings-on is just too good. Also highly recommend checking out the author's tumblr ( @wonderlandleighleigh) , she sometimes posts drabble fics in this universe and they are, in a word, marvelous!

Bright (Agents of Shield/Stardust fusion) Fitzsimmons as Yvaine and Tristan respectively are so cute, while also flipping gender roles for fun. I'm just happy to see the Stardust film referenced, even if it has to be in the form of fusions like this. Also features Steggy as Jemma's parents, which *yes*.

Harry Potter: The Legends Reborn (Harry Potter/BBC Merlin) What if Harry and Draco were the reincarnations of Merlin and Arthur? How do sworn enemies reconcile with their pasts as close friends? How does Harry reconcile his incredible abilities as Merlin while trying to hide out as a typical (if famous) Hogwarts student? Features some surprising reincarnations and fascinating character parallels. Only drawback is the author is more familiar with the movies than the books in a few places, but overall good stuff. (note: platonic Merthur/Drarry, not shipping)

Guardian Tadashi AU (Lighting Candles and A Friend in the Dark) (Rise of the Guardians/Big Hero 6) Gets a little angsty at times, what with Tadashi dealing with existential crisis after existential crisis now that he's a magical spirit whose brother can't see him, but overall hopeful and beautiful. Really fleshes out Tadashi as his own chaarcter beyond the saintly older brother, and the banter and imagery are pretty amazing.

Don't be shocked when your hist'ry book mentions me (Sleepy Hollow(TV)/Hamilton) Alexander Hamilton wakes up in modern day Sleepy Hollow. Ichabod and Abbie are there to help.

In a pub, briefly (Outlander/Captain America MCU) I just love the idea of Peggy Carter and Claire as friends during World War II. Sue me.

Henry Tilney and Mr. Norrell (Northanger Abbey/Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norell) Henry Tilney is the second magician in England, but his magics are more based in his mothers homemaking spells than anything big and flashy, so it's lovingly feminist in its way. Also, Catherine is just so into it.I really wish the author had gone a bit farther with this one, but what's there is quite lovely.

My Heart Don't Wish to Roam> (Captain America/Merlin/Doctor Who) This series of Steggy AU one-shots includes a couple of different fusion ideas, which I enjoy.

Work I spent the most time on: my Drarry series Do It All Over Again... I wrote and published it regularly from 2017 to 2021

Longest Fic: to not be repetitive, I'll exclude series' here, or else it would be DIAOA again... The longest consecutive fic that is not part of a series is my ongoing Drarry fic Dangerous to Dream. It's around 118k now

Shortest fic: A fic I once wrote for the Openly Straight book series called Yes, this. It's only a little over 1k.

Most hits / kudos: Part 1 of DIAOA

Total word count: 1,531,171

Favourite work of my own: Well, DIAOA is definitely the one I'm most proud of. It's got the most heart.

Fic I'd rewrite / expand on: Well, I'm not sure I'd expand on anything, I usually am pretty through with the fics by the time I reach the end (exception was DIAOA), but if I were to go back to one fic and rewrite some parts of it, it would be my Drarry/Merthur crossover Of the same kin.. . I'm still annoyed I forgot about Nagini lol. I someday might go back and edit her death in.

Bit of a WiP: I've got nothing unposted written right now, sorry 😞 So have this idea for the next chapter for Dangerous to Dream:

Top 3 ships - Viktuuri, Merthur, Drarry in some order, but Viktuuri is definitely #1. I am absolutely here for wholesome ships that are ACTUALLY CANON and almost derailed by a silly misunderstanding. Also like...figure skating anime? Yes, I’m here for all of this.

Lipstick or Chapstick - Chapstick...but more specifically, the lip balm I custom made myself that’s layered in the colors of an archery target!

Last Song - I’ve had a mix of my 2019 playlist and Taylor Swift running lately so I’m just gonna pick a couple from today: Holy Ground (Taylor Swift), State of Grace (Taylor Swift), and yours (Greyson Chance).

Last Movie - It was that Knight Before Christmas one from Netflix because I couldn’t decide what to watch and didn’t have a lot of effort to actually pay attention to what I was watching. XD

Reading - Mmmmm I’m slowly making my way through every single Yuri on Ice x Anastasia crossover that exists where Yuuri or Viktor is Anastasia (and there aren’t many complete, so I’m legitimately considering whether I should try reading the one complete fic that’s in Spanish either with my very rudimentary high school Spanish abilities or just through Google translate).
