I feel like I've probably shared this before, but it was in my Unfinished Torchwood folder so I thought I'd share it today, even if it is again. If I didn't ever post it, I wonder why; if I did, my apologies for the double post, but it's cute and it was fun to edit since it's been a year and a half since I did any real writing. Enjoy! And maybe I'll work on some more of the stuff in my unfinished folder!
Don't get mad, get even
"So, how did the rest of the night go?" Owen asked from his station, his feet on the desk as he twirled a pen in the air and smirked. "You score?"
"Do you really want to know?" Ianto asked in return, turning around on his own chair and giving Owen a skeptical look.
"Not particularly," Owen replied. "Not at all, actually. Don't know why I even asked. Only you two are so strange sometimes…" He trailed off, chewing on the end of the pen, shaking his head.
"I'm sure I'm going to regret this, but what was so strange about last night?" Ianto braced himself for some intense piss-taking from the doctor, who seemed to delight in it more and more the longer they worked together.
"You and Jack," Owen said. "If Tosh hadn't walked in on you snogging in the tourist office a few weeks ago, no one would ever know you were shagging again. It's like a classified secret or something."
"Maybe we’re simply more private," Ianto suggested. "And professional."
"You're something," Owen said, shaking his head again. "Here we are, hitting the pub after work to celebrate the end of the longest week ever, and you two are still playing at Jeeves and Wooster. You can be a bit more casual after hours, you know."
"And you want me to—what? Feed him chips when we're out in public? Hold hands and whisper in his ear?" Ianto asked. "Stick my tongue down his throat and put on a good show?"
"Oh my god, you're going to make my brain bleed," Owen complained. "I'm just saying, if you're sleeping together, you can act like it. We all know now."
"We do act like it, Owen," Ianto replied, turning back to his computer. "When we're alone and we’re—"
"Don’t say it."
"But you thought it."
"Sod off."
"You brought it up, Owen." Ianto is still not sure why, though.
"And I'm not done. You flirt and joke, but Jack does that with dead trees. You don't hold hands, don't dance or kiss or make googly eyes—"
"I'm not sure Jack knows how to make googly eyes," Ianto said, holding back a grin at the thought of Jack with some sort of vapid love-sick look on his face. "He is well over a hundred and fifty years old."
"Wow, only six times older than you," Owen drawled. "Way to bag 'em, grave robber."
"He's immortal, Owen," Ianto replied, and this time he did turn around and grin. "Age is a meaningless number to him. But experience—experience makes all the difference in the world." He let his gaze go distant as he thought about some of the experiences Jack had shared with him. “And Jack has experience.”
"I am so done with this conversation," Owen grumbled.
"What, the one you started?"
"I'm finishing it. Go file some paperwork or something."
"But I didn't answer your question," Ianto said. He had to admit, he was having too much fun with Owen to stop now. Plus, he did have some gossip, of a sort.
"I don't want to know if you scored anymore, unless you both picked up a bird and—"
"Nope, not that," Ianto interrupted quickly. "But the rest of the night was interesting. And not in a tawdry way," he added.
Owen was quiet. He threw his pen in the air a few times, spun around in his chair, blew out a breath, and turned back to Ianto. "Now it's my turn to regret asking, but how so? Something happen after I left?"
"Jack got pissed," Ianto told him, lowering his voice as he glanced back at Jack's office. "Completely shit-faced blitzed."
Owen looked confused. "What?"
"He was loud and laughing, extremely handsy, and stumbling around. I even had to help him," Ianto cleared his throat, "with his trousers. In the loo."
"I bet you did," Owens smirked. "And I bet he loved that."
"Actually, I'm not sure he remembers," Ianto replied thoughtfully. "He practically passed out on the way home. I half carried him up to my flat—it was like wrangling an octopus—and put him to bed only for him to jump up and run for the bathroom. Ten minutes later and the octopus was back. He slept straight through 'till morning."
Owen was giving him a very strange look, both amused and disgusted. "And let me guess, you made him toast and brought him some paracetamol with your best coffee in the morning?"
"Well, yes," said Ianto, feeling defensive. "He's actually done the same thing for me."
Owen shook his head and started laughing. "Ianto, you do know that Jack can't get drunk, right?"
"Of course he can," Ianto replied. "I've seen him drink many times."
"And have you ever seen him stumbling drunk?" Owen asked.
"Well, no, not since we've been….you know," Ianto answered. "Why do you think he can't get drunk?"
"Because he told me," Owen replied smugly. "After my first really bad case, we went out to some skivvy bar to put it behind us, and although I don’t remember everything from that night, I do remember Jack being perfectly fine to drive my arse home because, as he put it, 'I can't get drunk.'"
"That's ridiculous." And yet, Ianto had a bad feeling that Owen was right. He couldn't actually remember seeing Jack drunk before, or hungover, and he'd definitely seen Jack drink before. And Jack had been dramatically over the top last night, as well exceptionally quick to recover that morning.
"That's what I thought,” Owen said. “He told me then, and he'd probably tell me now, that he metabolizes alcohol too fast for it to affect him that much. He's never been a big drinker, but I've seen him put down a fair few. He might get a little loose, but that's not hard for Jack." He sniggered and continued. "My guess is it has something to do with his immortality. He literally burns up the alcohol before the rest of us have finished our first pint. Sort of like how he never gets sick either."
"He told me last weekend that his allergies were bothering him!" Ianto exclaimed. "I made us soup for dinner." He stood up, took a step toward Jack's office, then turned back, staring at Owen. "Are you serious? He really wasn't drunk last night?"
"I think you've been had, mate," Owen told him, and he actually sounded like he felt bad for Ianto.
"I can't believe he'd do that," Ianto muttered. "What the hell was the point?"
"Who knows how his warped brain works," Owen told him, then motioned him closer. "But may I suggest not getting mad, but getting even?"
Ianto glanced back at Jack's office, still tempted to storm in and give Jack a piece of his mind before cutting him off from coffee and sex for the rest of the week. It was only Thursday; Ianto could survive, but he knew it would be rough punishment for Jack. Then he glanced back at Owen.
"Any ideas?" he asked.
"Not yet, but between the two of us, we should be able to come up with something good." Owen grinned as he stood up. "Come on. A pint on me to ease your sorrows while we plot."
Ianto couldn't help but grin back with a nod. "I think we can come up with something not just good, but brilliant," he said. He grabbed his coat from nearby and headed out the cog door with Owen, a dozen different ideas already plotting through his head.
Jack might not be able to get drunk, but he wouldn't know what hit him when Ianto was done with him.

WAAAHHH I just saw people have been posting about the project on Pinterest???
THANK YOU???
I am so pink oh my goodness aaa
I'll give some updates then so people know we're not just slackin', haha;;
This past week we've been hella busy with church, school, trying out programs, still figuring out the whole learning to drive thing, stuff with disability, etc... but especially with Valentine's Day & Moose's birthday.
CJ came up to visit which was really special & we got to eat out & get boba all together which was super nice as he doesn't live too close by ever since we moved a few years back.
I recently got most of my m3dz figured out so I might be able to start hrt within the next year, & it sounds like the date has been set for CJ & I to get married this April 29th!
On top of all this we recently found out that a couple other plans have been thrown into the mix:
Our folks are planning to head out for a week a few states away to spend time with family & celebrate our twin cousins' birthday & then they'll be goin to Medieval Times for Moose's birthday possibly with another friend or cousin.
My mom & I are gonna try & see a show with CJ & his mom if they're able to come for my 21st birthday (Which is March 13th!) & CJ's birthday is at the start of April.
Right before our wedding is my dad's birthday & we're gonna see another live performance in another state, & then right afterwards a few days later is gonna be the wedding.
We're just gonna make it small & Soukoku themed, but maybe years later from now when we're livin' alone & financially stable we might do a bigger more official wedding. We'll renew our vows, maybe have custom made suits, special stuff like that.
Somethin' we're hopin' to do is for the small one we might make custom Lego Minifigures to be in front of/above the cake & then if we save up... the four-six hundred bucks... we wanna get the Soukoku "wedding" figurines that came out a bit ago.
It's a dream.
Anyways, as for the actual project!
I'm still working on the script when I have time, I just got stumped since we don't have Golden Demon written yet- but I managed to come up with some content to fill in for during or after the scene plays out for now & continued from there.
Moose has decided to try & make two versions of Life's Better With A Little Party In It: one that's a trashy pop song, & one that's his own take on the song based on artists like YOASOBI. (Into the Night, Monster, Idol, etc...)
We're also thinking about making a Cover Album on the side to go with the soundtrack just for fun with covers of songs from bands & artists like ONE OK ROCK & Set It Off.
I'm still thinking I might go for making The I Was Screaming Your Name Through the Radio Project into an episodic animatic series, but with everything going on I might wait to record the actual script & songs until we've got most of the script & songs written out more at the least if not also until after I get a better microphone & possibly start injections. (Maybe I'll still do the first few chapters since they're just teens anyways but meh whatever; we'll see.)
I did do a drawing while I was free last night though & have been talking with my dad who's voice is basically his life & career about vocal training of sorts or if I should find classes online or something along those lines for it.
(Back to the drawing) I made a concept design for Moose's online/music persona AquaticSnow & a possible first EP/Album cover. I'm not sure I'll post it (yet?) since he might use it for stuff like his avatar, channel/s, music, etc but if I do it'll be on my personal main Tumblr, Instagram, & probably Deviantart & Twitter/X.
I'm also nervous about somebody tryin' to steal the art &/or concept.
Another reminder that I do have a personal server where I stream drawing, gaming, sometimes reading & writing, watch parties (movies, shows, etc...) & I post planning & updates for the project there!
.:Charli's Discord Server:.
( Don't forget to pick roles & read the rules! Otherwise you can't see the other chats;; )
Sorry 'bout the long post, haha;; we hope you all had a great Valentine's Day!

Dear Jimin fans,
I could start with a hundred disclaimers but I will not. My greatest hope is that in all these words, you will see a modest heart who wishes to help. This is written to those who are PJMs/Jimin fans, if you're not and you want to read this - that's fine too. Maybe you are a casual fan and are interested to understand, this may help and I'll be happy if it did. But really this is for those who claim being PJMs/Jimin fans.
It has been a few years since I discovered him. I was scrolling through Youtube, and there popped up a video called 'Blood, Sweat & Tears'. The thumbnail caught my eye, so I clicked on it. I saw a person. No, a creation of art. Who is he? I was shocked, then I was overwhelmed with admiration. I remember just sitting there in awe, replaying those first few seconds over and over again, trying to comprehend that what I was seeing was real. I looked into it, stumbled upon other people who felt the same way when they saw him and knew immediately. It just resonates, doesn't it? There was no confusion for me. I know real talent when I see it. My eyes were only on Jimin.
As I started to watch more content about him: Official bangtan bombs, vlives, fan cams, my admiration only kept growing as it became clear that not only he is a one in a lifetime performer, but he's the kindest, most emotionally intelligent and in a world where those qualities are very rare, it was amazing to me to find someone so genuine.
But unfortunately, not everyone values that. It became clear very quickly to me that the fanmade content that involves him across various media platforms is not made with the intent of keeping Jimin's feelings, boundaries, and best interests in mind.
From BTS introduction videos painting him as insecure, weak, needy, clingy, overly emotional (as if being in tune with your feelings is a bad thing smh) and cheerleader to the other members, to videos with titles like: "Jimin is a freaky bitch" "Jimin is a pervert" "Jimin is a flirt" and things of that nature. There is something very mean spirited about the way they portray him.
Naturally, I was uncomfortable with seeing this and as with everything I see, I questioned it. Is this really true? Where is this coming from? And why doesn't anyone do anything about it? I didn't understand why a fandom who claims to love him so much, would let such defamatory content not only exist, but gain so many views. We're talking million of views for each video/content with these titles.
I mean, ARMY have been known to threaten creators for less awful things than that. So why were they so silent? While it's expected to see all sorts of things about celebrities online, in none of those cases was there such a movement of misleading, misinformed content about an artist from their own fandom, from inside the fandom. You would expect such malicious and defaming content from haters, not people who claim to be fans of the group that person is a part of.. It’s almost as if, he’s not part of BTS. But it was ten times worse because he was, he IS a part of BTS but is treated like an outsider, with the attackers pretending to love him, but end up using their closeness to him as “fans” to twist his words, use his caring nature and vulnerability against him, knowing where to hurt him the most. I was overwhelmed by sadness. What has Jimin ever done to deserve this kind of hatred? I didn't understand why this is happening. I just knew something's not right. This is wrong on so many levels.
Once you get even slightly closer to the fandom, you soon start to realize that Jimin is.. Well, to put it bluntly, not respected or seen properly for who he is by a large majority of the ARMY. And this is why respect is so important. One can be “loved”, but not respected.
The issue is most of them don’t appreciate him for him. They only appreciate him in relation to the other members. As a mirror or a magnifying glass of some sort to amplify the other members existence and talents. He is a human being with his own thoughts, feelings, goals and dreams. He is not anyone’s cheerleader or hype man.
Jimin is often the one who brings new people to the fandom, but before you know it, ARMYs are already bombarding those new people with “oh but this member is better” “wait till you see this member, now HE is the one you’re gonna love more”. Meanwhile, the other members can be praised without any of those ARMYs jumping in like they do with Jimin. He is treated like a rival. The double standards are real.
One of the breaking points for me was the DTs. The amount of indifference from armys about the threats was appalling to witness, reaching the boiling point when Jimin had to answer a journalist about his own DTs in a press conference, and instead of questioning why would Hybe approve such an insensitive question to be asked (and it's been confirmed by a journalist that the company does in fact have to approve questions beforehand), armys reaction was "aww he's worried about us", choosing to willfully ignore the gravity of the situation and instead use Jimin's politeness as proof that he's "okay" and doesn’t really care about it.
Narratives are extremely powerful. They can completely change your view on someone, sometimes indefinitely. Most people take what they see at face value, and if you're not one to dig deeper into the "why" of the matter, you WILL be affected by it and tailor your behavior towards that someone based on that narrative you were fed with. And that’s exactly the case with Armys, who brainwash other Armys/casual listeners with misinformation and harmful narratives about Jimin as we speak.
I've always been conscious of how harmful false narratives can be, but it cannot be more true than in Jimin's case. Almost everything about the trajectory of his career particularly following the rise of BTS to a global status, is tainted by this underpinning cord of a love-hate relationship from ARMYs, who's backhanded compliments towards Jimin and attacks on those who dare to praise Jimin or stand up for him could not even begin to hide their inner disdain, lack of respect and jealousy they feel towards him.
I would say many of us who care for Jimin would have trouble defining ourselves in the beginning. In that first stage you would question everything you learned about the group and the company. About this “family” narrative you have been spoon fed with all this time. You will be left confused, frustrated, and exhausted when seeing that Army/Bighit do not share your wishes and dreams for him, and you will find yourself more often than not feeling hopeless in the face of this seemingly unchanged reality.
As you start to notice the injustice towards Jimin from his work environment, you will evaluate constantly if it’s worth it to get invested in someone who might never get the happy ending you so wish for them. Questioning whether or not you will get to see this amazing person flourish and bloom into the best version of himself. I think what makes it even worse is the lack of permission we, Jimin fans have to simply exist. How many of us can not only be awaken from the propaganda but also have the courage to shout it out loud? It's a rare individual who has that kind of self awareness to discover they are PJMs or a true Jimin fan in a herd mentality environment such as the ARMY fandom, and even more so than discover it, but to be one publicly.
It would be easy to reaffirm what you already know; that being a Jimin fan means feeling left out, misunderstood, and vulnerable to attacks on your character but I noticed that the conversation always ends at a shallow point of view. Even we as Jimin fans don’t dare to dig deeper, usually repeating what’s already been said, but lacking the motivation and resolve to make a change where it really matters.
I noticed we are mostly very private people, we’re not as loud as other “solo stans” nor do we really have a large presence on social media. I believe we do see everything, but due to how all this hatred that is being directed at Jimin and by extension - towards us as fans makes us feel, we’re more comfortable being in the shadows in fear of the attacks, and while that’s not inherently a bad thing at times as self protection is important, we tend to miss out on important details such as how and where exactly these (false)narratives begin and grow due to our fear and lack of presence in certain areas online. We have certain blind spots sometimes. Thus we end up puzzled as the propaganda gets bigger and bigger each day, harder and harder to contain, let alone control. There are many ways of improving situations like these or at least, make the online space more comfortable for us, and in turn - for Jimin himself.
Now, I’m not gonna lie to you and pretend it wouldn’t require some work, which is why we need to be committed to changing the existing situation. There will be ups and downs, and not everything will go smoothly.
Armys are NOT going to change. And it will be useless to try to get them to. I understand some of us are angry, hurt, and even traumatized by their behavior but looking for their validation, asking them to be “truly OT7″, and waiting for them to suddenly change is a waste of time and somewhat pathetic to be honest.
In order for people to even reach the point of loving Jimin unapologetically, it usually requires them to challenge not only their negative bias towards him but also why they think and believe the things they do. It requires people to look inside and ask questions about the things they see and are presented with in terms of the content they watch.
The double standards, the internal misogyny that makes Armys dislike Jimin, the justification and normalization of erasing/discrediting him, all of that operates under the guise of you not being able to think for yourself. Applying critical thinking and stop fearing backlash is the only way to break free.
My goal here is for Jimin fans to expand their space, and reach a point where it doesn’t matter anymore whether we get the permission to be Jimin fans from others, we will just be our own entity. The difference should be in our approach. As we are already demonized for standing up for Jimin, which puts us in a disadvantage when it comes to the image other people have of us, we have to move somewhat differently because whatever we do - we will not get the same reaction as other stans will. They will never give us the benefit of the doubt, they will assume, judge, and allow attacks on our name - just like they do to Jimin.
We’ll have to move in silence, be more organized, and respond instead of react. Just like how armys are the face of BTS, and how BTS are pretty much disliked because of their fanbase - everything we do will reflect on Jimin himself. It shouldn’t really be that way, but the reality is people will try to use that against him whether it’s fair or not. They villainize us to prove that their false narratives about him are true.
It’s all good and well to call out armys on their behavior, but the likelihood of them understanding your point is close to zero because the issue doesn’t affect them. They are less likely to listen, much less care about anything affecting Jimin or his fans. And while the image and reputation of Jimin fans according to armys is always villainized, it doesn’t have to be like that for casuals/locals.
Our safest and most effective bet is to focus on new people, locals/the general public. They are less swayed by fandom antics, but to do that we have to reach them at the right time. Before they get sucked into the rabbit hole and invited into the Army fandom. It will be hard but it can be done. It’s only a matter of keeping our finger on the pulse of things and using our presence to course correct their path when learning new information about Jimin.
Because that’s usually the point where everything goes wrong; New people find themselves enamored with Jimin and wanting to find out more about him, only to then be exposed to the false narratives armys have created of him, resulting in a loss of respect and those new people’s eventual withdrawal from liking him.
I’ve been observing the online space for a long time, and have garnered some knowledge about the process of how people get into this space, how they eventually turn against Jimin, or vice versa. It’s a very messy process and not always so clear, but once you recognize the pattern of the ways these antis make new fans lose respect for Jimin, you also start to understand what needs to be done for those people to reconsider their decision and preventing them to believe the false narrative about him.
As we make the steps for the narrative to improve, the false narratives around Jimin fans will hopefully lessen and we will have our voice, whether people like us or not. The goal is to reach a point where it doesn’t matter anymore what people try to do, Jimin will always be supported so that his (solo)career will flourish smoothly.
Narratives are indeed powerful, but not impossible to change. I want more people to know the sides I have seen of him. Like his maturity, emotional intelligence, professionalism, open mindedness, his respectability, and so much more. The sides that for some reason, a large group of people are desperate to hide and erase in order for him to stop "standing out" in a positive way.
This is a Jimin dedicated blog to share thoughts, and discuss particularly on the Jimin misrepresentation going on mainly on Youtube and other social media platforms, but more importantly than just simply discussing it, actually do something about it. Again, talking is good, but actions make the difference.

Surprise WitherHusbands snippet
I had no idea where I was going with this o I cut it where I felt it fit nicely to end and here it is :}
AO3
May I have this dance (snippet) - Wither Husbands
Being a vampire and well over five hundred years old fWhip saw many rulers come and go. Some he was friends with. Some were his enemies and maybe he had something to do with their demise. Even if he was no ruler himself his brother and his children were and fWhip was not above helping the family. Or his family's friends in the Wither Alliance. When his grand something nephew - he was honestly not counting the generations passing by him - died fWhip was shocked to be named the new count of Grimlands. There was his maybe favourite ever niece Gem, yes, but her magical talent was a bit of a problem so she was now the ruler of Crystal Cliffs Academy.
Currently, he was reconsidering calling her his favourite niece as she called him early midday to nag him about not being late to a Mythland party celebrating their close ally's king's twenty-sixth birthday. As if fWhip would forget. "Gem, dear, my staff has my appearance handled, I'll be on time do not worry," he assured her and cut the call before she could protest.
And just in time as his staff was knocking on the door to inform him it was time to get ready for the party. They remembered to bring him a bit of a snack in form of a tall wineglass of blood so he'd be a bit more awake for the party.
Being a vampire and having no reflection made getting ready for parties a bit difficult but fWhip's house staff was used to it so when he got into the carriage that would get him to Mythland's royal castle just in time to not be ready he was more than appropriately dressed for the occasion. Usually, neither fWhip nor they cared that much how he looked as long as he didn't look too casual but an important ally's birthday required him at his best.
It was actually fourteen years ago, at Sausage's twelfth birthday that fWhip met him for the first time. Just a few days after taking over and a bit a day before Gem was shipped off to the Academy. He'd probably never forget it to be honest. One of the better parties of his long life.
Sausage grew up to be a picture-perfect prince, now king, and a reliable ally and friend even if he had to be reigned in from time to time and reminded that fWhip was the one in charge of the Alliance. Tall, handsome and drawing in the attention of the whole room no matter how big the room was. Or who was there. It was a bit of a shame, fWhip thought, that his childhood was spent mostly on training to be a king and a knight.
For the most part, the party went well. fWhip dropped his gift with some courtiers responsible for accepting gifts and spend most of the time to the side. Politely conversing with any noble interested in him which wasn't that many. And maybe looking for a chance to pass good birthday wishes whenever Sausage had fewer nobles clustered around him. It did not look to be possible at the moment. It was okay though. Sausage was a popular guy and fWhip was... well, fWhip. The unpopular everywhere but in Grimlands vampire count most people would rather avoid him and would prefer if he just quit ruling and locked himself in his house.
At least Mythland's party organisers did not mind including some blood here and there. Blood Sheep cult helped here too, and more zealous members really liked fWhip. His vampirism was some sort of a blessing from the enigmatic sheep goddess since his mother was a devout believer. fWhip himself wasn't much for religion but the creepy shadow that turned him had no other, more logical explanation so he went along with the religious narrative.
It was three hours in, and fWhip just started considering how rude it'd be if he left without talking to Sausage when the king actually approached him. No nobles trailing but fWhip did catch a few jealous glances.
"Happy birthday, Sausage," fWhip wished his friend with a small bow. It was not required of him but it was a kind thing to do in his position. "I still remember when we were first introduced."
"Please don't remind me of that day, I made a complete fool of myself," Sausage groaned.
"Why? The dance was lovely," fWhip chuckled. He might have enjoyed teasing the young king from time to time.
"I was meant to ask Gem but it'd felt wrong all things considered and so I panicked and asked you instead..." Sausage sighed, shuddering at the mere memory of it. "And I barely knew how to dance then..."
"I think the twelve years old you was very charming and an excellent dance partner," fWhip chuckled, he closed his eyes just for a second to think back to small Sausage. No signs of the upcoming facial hair. Too heavy cape slowing him down. Looking far too calm, collected and organised. Far too well-behaved for a boy his age. And to think just six years later he'd kill a dragon. Truly impressive.
"I don't know, my mother gave me an hour-long lecture about bothering important people the next day and she mentioned you specifically," Sausage sighed, glancing back at all the nobles who instantly pretended they were not staring and hoping their glares would work like the sun on fWhip. "I'm sorry about them..."
"It's okay, I'm used to it," the count waved it off with a polite smile. He had many years to get used to weird stares.
"You shouldn't be... Back when we first met I thought you were the only person cooler than our elven chef and his pancakes. I still think you're amazing..." Sausage confessed sheepishly.
"Flattery is not..." fWhip tried stopping him.
"No. It's not flattery, I really mean it... Ugh, more boring people want to talk to me..." he grimaced spotting his chief advisor looking for him. "Tonight's so..."
"May I have this dance then?" fWhip asked, just to maybe steal some more of the young king's time.
fWhip instantly set Sausage as the one leading from the very approach to the dance floor. "It's only correct if the host leads this one. And we already had one the other way," the count explained as they stopped. All the eyes were on them and honestly, if he was with anyone else Sausage would say no but this was fWhip. His first proper dance partner ever, and maybe his idol.

I bought some old Scholastic books from the 90s, and I am tempted to send in the order form
Tumblr media
I never got to do this as a kid, my mom always said putting checks in the mail was a scam, but I'm an adult and I REALLY wanna know what'll happen if I send in for 22 Goosebumps books at 1994 prices.
The most likely scenario is they'd return my check uncashed, maybe with a courtesy form letter saying that the offer is no longer valid. There's a remote chance they might send me a couple of books at today's price, using my check to cover however many it can afford, though I wouldn't count on it. I think that if I wrote a funny letter to go along with it, they might honor the whole form as a publicity stunt, like that time Bethesda let a guy buy a Fallout collectors edition with a boxful of recycled bottle caps. It would make a fun PR story, something they could promote on social media, the sort of thing you'd see on some local news station, a fluff piece with a headline like "Please Allow 1006 to 1008 Weeks for Delivery."
I heard a story about a guy who bought a giant bag of m&ms, and he would take two of them and squeeze them together until one broke, and he'd eat the loser. The winner would go on to be squeezed against another one, and then that winner would go on again, through the entire bag until he found the quote-unquote "strongest" m&m. He then sent that one in to the Mars chocolate company like it was a winning racehorse they could use to breed stronger candies in the future, and they sent him a coupon for another huge bag of m&ms as a "consultancy fee," thanking him for his efforts.
Companies love stupid little stunts like this, but they only work once. They can't just let everybody cash in on it, so they let it happen once for the cameras and then never again. I've heard stories of people inviting celebrities to their weddings, and occasionally they'll show up, but they couldn't possibly make it a regular thing. I'm sure this happens to Scholastic all the time; they've produced literally HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS of books over the decades! I'm sure every household in America has at least one. There exist more order forms than copies of any given book. The vast majority of them go unused because kids don't want to tear the pages out, but I'm sure it was (until the age of smart phones) a steady source of income for the company. That's why I would need a funny letter to go along with it, something to contextualize it, to let them know that I'm not just some jerk trying to cheat them out of a few bucks, but a long time fan trying to recapture the spark of childhood they instilled in me so many years ago.
I know this is a long shot. For all 22 books on this form, it would cost $66.40 (plus $2.00 to cover shipping and handling), which in today's money would be lucky to fetch half as many; they're all made of pulp, designed to be cheap and mass produceable, but not $3 a pop cheap, not in 2021. I really think the first scenario is most likely, "return to sender," fluff piece be damned. I doubt I'm the first person to ever think of sending in a 30 year old order form, and they probably have a stock letter on hand specifically for this type of scenario; "looks like this offer has expired, but you can feel free to log onto our website and order as many books as you want!" For all I know they don't even have that PO Box in Jefferson City, Missouri anymore.
What do you guys think; is it worth a shot? Dare I send away seventy bucks to parts unknown? I kinda want to see what happens, even if it's nothing special. I'm 24, I've done stupider things, probably will again in the future, so I may as well have some fun with it every now and then.
Certainty of failure. Small chance of success. What am I waiting for?
Maybe I'll date the check to 1995 and blame Bill Clinton's USPS for it getting lost.

nina's midsem procrastination + road to 100
Tumblr media
Hey! I'm almost at a hundred followers on this blog, and I've got a week off of classes next week (except for the fact that I still have to do backlogs). But right now, I miss writing. especially about jason
So let's procrastinate celebrate! (Yes, I'll be taking requests)
Rules for requests:
General Guidelines:
Send an ask for your request to be officially part of this celebration.
I'll be accepting requests until November 2, Wednesday. Although if there are only a few requests, I might extend. Anyway, just keep them coming even after the deadline, and I'll try to do them when I could :) it's a procrastination celebration after all
You can request more than once, but please don't expect that I'll accomplish it right away (that is, if I even get to accomplishing it)
Send your request with any of the 3 emojis of either of the following:
Tumblr media
✒️ Add to the To-Do list (fic requests):
I'll be writing about PJO/HOO characters. I'll be limiting the characters to a list below. I'm only limiting to those who I feel like I've grasped their character and can do them justice with my writing.
The Argo II crew (aka "the seven")
Nico di Angelo
Reyna Avila Ramirez-Arellano
Will Solace
Thalia Grace
I will not change the characters' canon sexuality if they are stated. That means no romantic/sexual nico x fem!reader, I will only accept platonic/sibling/rivalry types for that kind of pairing. Thalia is aro/ace and Reyna is ace. Now I know Will's and Piper's aren't explicitly stated what their sexuality actually is, but I do feel like they'd have gender preferences. So for them, I will accept het!ships but let's try to keep it within their gender prefs as much as possible. All other characters, you can request whatever headcanon sexuality you have for them!
Yes, I do poly!relationship requests.
Yes, I accept NSFW, HOWEVER, I may not be comfortable writing certain stuff, so fair warning. If you've read my 'Vulnerable' fic, that's the kind of smut I kind of know how to write. I might be more likely to accept your request if the sex is a plot device to advance a bigger plot, sort of thing.
You can request platonic/sibling/rivalry too, aside from the usual fluff/smut/angst
No graphic depictions of: noncon/dubcon smut (r*pe), substance abuse, assault/abuse, racism, homophobia, sexism, Islamophobia, misogyny, y'all get the gist
Other topics you can request about:
Crossover with MCGA/KC
Broadway/musicals
Filipino!reader
Conversation prompts
Color prompts
Song prompts
☕ Coffee break... again (taking a break from writing fics to answer some of these):
Send in a character/event/book or whatever you can think of in the riordanverse (preferably pjo/hoo/toa because it's been a hot minute since I've read kc and mcga), and I'll give you my controversial opinion or theories on them
Ask me anything you want to know about me! (I reserve the right to answer untruthfully to protect my personal stuff)
Or maybe send in a praise or anything you'd like to say to me 🥺
💯 Just stop procrastinating (these are my WIPS, pick one and I'll finish it and post it on Tumblr):
"'Di Makatulog" - Jason Grace x reader song prompt
"Dusty Pink" - Jason Grace x reader based on @aesthetxcimagines's color association of me
"Run Away With Me? Part 3" - Jason Grace x reader
"Meadowlark" - Jason Grace x reader (might be more than one part, just a fair warning)
"Did you just call me milk?" Leo Valdez x reader
"Get in loser, we're going shopping!" - Solangelo x platonic!reader
"What happens in Dallas stays in Dallas" - Jason Grace x reader, brother!Percy x reader (warning, crossover with Kane Chronicles where reader is both a demigod and a magician)
Tumblr media
Tagging some moots who might want to participate/hype up the celeb! @drvrslcense @bubblybubbubs @dreamerball @quteez @aesthetxcimagines @chasingpj @ewitsren @wadewilsonsgreatestfriend-deact @dark-poetry-and-nostalgia
