did this for practice since it had been bit since I animated something polished and not like a scribbled mess. anyway, Gideon alert. tlt fandom wake up
there are, of course, so many reasons to love gideon as a person. but her taking a moment to -- in the middle of a life or death situation -- mentally give 'a private prayer of thanksgiving for service rendered' to her rapier and knuckleknives as she's dropping them even though they've all this time kept her from her beloved longsword that she's finally about to pick up again... is one of the Most reasons for me personally
There are 3 types of drawings of Gideon's two-hander.
1. People who understand how real swords look, but take Muir's use of the word 'longsword' at face value, drawing a hand-and-a-half sword.
2. People who don't understand swords, but understand that Gideon would use the biggest sword she can get, drawing a massive anime sword.
3. People who understand swords and also understand that Gideon would wield the biggest sword she can get, drawing a zweihander or a claymore.
No hate to anyone, but 3 is really the correct one here, and we need to see more of it. Gideon's sword is specifically referred to as six feet long, and Muir mentions zweihanders in the acknowledgements of GtN. Also, zweihander literally translated to 'two-hander'.
tamsyn muir made silas & column men for OUR protection. imagine if the 8th house were a big butch sword lady and her tiny scowling jaundice aunt with long beautiful silver hair who spend the whole book being weird offputting insulting, braiding each other's hair, sucking on the other like a necro battery juicebox, having complicated dynamics of loyalty consumption duty & responsibility..... the fandom would be in shambles.
