I have a revolutionship AU with Angel!Atem and human!Anzu where Atem was assigned to be Anzu's Guardian Angel and help her to find Love so he can ascend to Heaven peacefully. But what I'm focusing about is the (supposedly) Side Rivalship with former-archangel!Yugi and human!Kaiba... Yugi was assigned the same task like Atem was, but he Fell for his human instead, and chose to mingle along as a Human to be with Kaiba... but the angels who do this are considered Traitors and after reaching certain years Heaven will Punish them 😔 (I can't decide what the punishment will be), and Yugi never revealed who/what he really was to Kaiba and Kaiba's going to feel sOOO Betrayed once he knew
Sorry im incoherent i gotta sleep but i think of them

Danny Phantom Separate au
In this au Danny and Phantom are two separate entities. The two made a deal during Danny's portal accident. Danny was given a few basic powers, mainly intangiblity and invisibility. Phantom is the banished son of Paraih Dark. Phantom was starting to fade when Danny encountered him in the newly active portal. The two were both dying and struck a desperate deal to help each survive and so Phantom's core turned into an amulet that Danny now wears around his neck allowing the two to switch places quickly with their usual transformation. It's sorta like a Yami and Yugi situation for the two of them.
•Sam and Tucker actually don't know about Danny and Phantom being two separate beings, they assumed they're the same since Danny always wears the amulet and he never bothered to correct them. They're proven wrong about this assumption during memory blank
•Identity crisis was the result of the two fighting. The Fenton ghost catcher gave the two enough charge to be separated with some issues
•Danny learns that he and Phantom can temporarily turn into the other with enough of an ectoplasmic charge
•Danny could tell something was off about Phantom during the circus Gothica incident but didn't immediately chalk it up to mind control until Lancer was locked in a closet.
•Memory blank caused them to lose their connection which in turn caused them to lose their memories alongside the tampering of Desiree with her magic due to the wish Sam made. They had to relearn a few things especially after Sam made her counter wish
•Dani was the result of Vlad trying to clone Danny without knowing that he and Phantom weren't the same person which resulted in Dani and the other clones being extremely unstable
•Vlad is still a halfa due to his ectoacne
•Dan is the result of Phantom being corrupted when Vlad stole the amulet off Danny during the events of the ultimate enemy and the halfa trying to use the amulet. Danny tried to save Phantom which resulted in the teen's death, Vlad's ghost half being absorbed into the amulet and a weakened Phantom being overwhelmed and absorbed by the evil ghost half.
•Clockwork eventually removed the time medallion from Danny's chest
•Clockwork is Phantom's other parent and ends up as a father figure/mentor to Danny
•Danny becomes part ghost due to Phantom
•Phantom shows some of his real power during his fight against Paraih Dark since he manages to briefly send Amity Park back to the real world from the ghost zone. The fight took a toll on both Phantom and Danny. It was more of an emotional toll for Phantom while the physical toll went to Danny
•Phantom remembers bits and pieces of his life in the ghost zone. Phantom is 1400 in human years and is 14 in ghost years
•Paraih went mad due to a poisoning attempt by an observatant when one made a bid for power after sealing Clockwork in the clock tower with a powerful artifact alongside Phantom. He was told his husband and son were lost and in his grief drank the blood blossom wine that ended with him going mad and leading to him needing to be sealed. The observatants cast the traitor into the deepest darkest parts of the ghost zone as punishment
•Phantom leans all of this via Clockwork
•Thunderstorms are hard on both Phantom and Danny
•Phantom was poisoned in a ghostly assassination attempt
•Skulker was hired by said assassin at first and then by Vlad
•Phantom being the prince was kept a secret from the rest of the zone except for Frostbite in the far frozen
•Danny keeps the amulet tucked in his shirt to avoid his parents equipment from pin pointing it
•The Fenton parents don't know about either portal incident
[Feel free to add more to this. It'll be interesting seeing what others come up with including crossovers, just nothing too extreme]

fanfic: Acid Wash (band au)
rating: T for Teens
pairing: Joey Wheeler/Seto Kaiba
warnings: Battle of the Bands, Keyboardist Seto Kaiba, Joey Wheeler Bad Decision Machine
summary:
With Battle of the Bands getting closer, Black Skull Dragon is trying to get their sound together, when Kaiba does a crazy thing like dye his hair green.
Unedited straight from my brain to yours. I’ve been wanting to do a battle of the bands au with almost know musical knowledge, and lately I’ve been hyperfocused on green haired Kaiba, so here’s a little piece of a puzzle.
Joey stopped short as he walked into the band room. Everyone except him and Tristan had already made it and were setting up. Yugi fiddled with his amp, Duke applied lipstick in their mirror, and sitting in the corner, setting up his keyboard, was Kaiba, who looked exactly the same except his hair was now bright fluorescent green.
“I’m hallucinating,” Joey said.
Tristan shoved past him into the room. “You’re not that stoned.”
He trailed behind him, ignoring his drum set up entirely. He beelined for Kaiba.
“Did Batman push you into a vat of chemicals?” he asked.
Kaiba’s head shot up, his blue eyes set in a glare sharp enough to make Joey flinch.
“You don’t get to say anything,” he snapped.
“It was my idea.” Duke snapped their compact shut. “We all scream rock ‘n roll now.”
Joey grinned. “You let Duke dye your hair?”
“I let Yugi dye my hair,” Kaiba said. “He has practice.”
“I think it looks great,” Yugi chirped, and Kaiba nodded his direction.
“It looks…” Joey started, but he couldn’t quite form the right words. It looked strange, like someone had photoshopped him in real life, but the bright shock of green made his eyes light up. It was the kind of green poison frogs wore to let predators know they were poisonous. It made him look like a piece of sour candy. It was the exact kind of color that made Joey’s mouth water.
He realized everyone was waiting for him to finish. He rolled his shoulders and said, “It looks cool.”
Kaiba blinked twice, and Joey turned away. Not that it helped. From his position behind everyone, Kaiba’s new green hair was a constant flash in the corner of his eye. The whole of practice he felt off. His hands slipped, he missed the beat, and he couldn’t stop looking. This was Duke’s fault, and Yugi, the traitor, who’d set out to make Kaiba cool and inexplicably succeeded.
They took a break to recoup. Tristan talked about how the sound was coming together while Duke and Yugi nodded along. Joey realized he was staring again when Kaiba looked at him. A storm cloud shrouded his forehead. It remained for the rest of practice, and he was the first out the door when the time came. Joey was biting his lip as the others packed up. Tristan knocked him on the shoulder.
“You okay, man?” he said. “You’re a space case today.”
“Yeah.” Joey hitched his bag up on his shoulder. “Kaiba looks different, huh.”
Tristan narrowed his eyes at him. His hand clamped tightly on Joey’s shoulder. “Don’t do anything stupid.”
“What?” Joey looked up at him innocently. “I’m not doing anything.”
“You’re thinking.” Tristan tapped his own forehead. “And that’s what you do before you do something dumb, like, I dunno, mess with the dynamic of the band. We just got everyone to act normal with each other. No more fights, no more hurt feelings. You don’t wanna screw that up.”
“I would never,” Joey said solemnly. “I swear.”
Tristan held him a moment longer before shaking his head. “Stop while you’re ahead.”
“I’m not doing anything,” Joey said. “I’ll meet you by your bike, okay?”
“What for? I’m right here.”
“I’ll meet you,” he repeated and headed for the door. “Don’t stress yourself out.”
“Twenty minutes!” Tristan shouted after him. “And I’m leaving your ass behind!”
The halls of Domino high were stone blocks, which made Kaiba easy to find before he’d left the building. His stupid driver would pick him up to go to cotillion or something like that. He could afford, just once, to be a little late. Joey ducked around him, putting himself directly in his path.
“Hey,” he said.
“What is your problem,” Kaiba snapped. “Ever since you walked in you’ve been acting strange, which is saying something for you. My hair really bothers you that much?”
“No,” Joey said. “Yes.”
“Well good news, I’m dying it back tonight.” He ran a hand through the offending green strands. “I’ve been stared at all day and I won’t be your freak show. I should’ve never listened to Duke. The last thing I need is deadbeats like you laughing behind my back.”
“Yeah, okay,” Joey said. “Do you wanna make out?”
Kaiba’s mouth opened, and then snapped shut. His eyes went wide. After a few seconds, he said, “What?”
“Just, like, before you change it back.” Joey reached up, pulling a strand of green hair forward. “I know you got your little puppy dog crush on Duke but I think you might be down. It can be a real quick one. You got places to be.”
Kaiba appeared to be recalculating. He blinked a few more times and repeated, “What?”
“I like the hair,” Joey said, and he rolled the hair between his fingers as he glanced up. “You wanna make out or what?”
“I–” Kaiba opened and closed his mouth again. “Is that the only reason why?”
“No.” Joey pushed his hand through his hair, twining the strands between his fingers and scratching the nape of his neck. “No, I think you’re funny sometimes and you got legs for days. Also you’re mean, which I’m kinda into. If you don’t say yes soon then I gotta assume you’re not interested.”
“I’m interested,” Kaiba blurted out, and his whole face went red, which was really fascinating with the green hair. “I just… didn’t expect you to be.”
“Don’t be too flattered,” Joey said. “I got low standards and get bored really easily. Anyway tomorrow your hair will go back to normal and we don’t have to do anything else. So is that a yes? Cause there’s a supply closet—”
Kaiba’s lips crashed down on his without a second thought. It was not a shy kiss, but a hungry and hormonal one. Joey laughed and guided him to fit against his mouth, and the two made out in the school hallway where anyone could walk by.
Joey was only five minutes late to meeting Tristan. He didn’t even leave him behind.
And really that should’ve been the end of it. A total one time thing. Kaiba would go back to being stuck up rich boy with marginal talents and mediocre fashion sense, and instead, when Joey and Tristan walked into the band room, there he was with a shock of green hair.
Joey grinned when he saw him. Kaiba looked down as his face bloomed red. Maybe there was more to this one time thing after all.

Brothers' Battle part 3/4
(( rp log continued from here !!! directly copied from Discord w minor editing for typos and formatting. Less card games this installment, I promise.
Seto Kaiba @blueeyesking , me as Noa, Mokuba, and the Yugis. Wyatt @seashaper , Hika @nameless-brand , and Pyre @redeyesandchilifries ))
Joey
Joey panics as his group falls, seemingly from one world into another. His cry is cut short, at least, as he lands right on his backside. A brief second later, he's hit in the face with the full metal weight of Tristan's metal monkey body.
"AAARGH!!" he shouts, yanking the robot by the tail. "You little traitor! I knew tha-"
"Is that Kaiba!?" Tristan's tinny voice calls out, distracting Joey. "And Mokuba! And… who's that?"
"Did… Did I hear what green head said right? 'Kill him?' 'Baby brother?' What is goin' ON?"
yugi!
Yugi pulls himself away from watching the battle below as their other friends join the audience upon their own, new towers. "joey!!!" he calls, spotting the particular blond.
The Other Yugi doesn't speak, but he does make eye contact with his friend from across the divide.
"this noa guy brainwashed mokuba into believing that he's his real brother somehow…!!" Yugi tries to explain, but shouting from their tower makes it difficult to say too much. "whoever wins this takes kaiba corporation. and whoever loses…." He trails off, a sorrowful expression crossing his face as his gaze falls back to the Duel below.
Rook
Madison Rook catches themselves gracefully in a crouch, their sword in hand before the sorcerer is even done scanning the scene. The Yugis catch their eye and they begin to release a relieved breath that's stopped in its tracks when they see Mokuba, and his opponent. No..this is deeply wrong. As their pulse quickens, their gaze darts to Noa, and Rook growls deep in their throat, human-appearing but still fiendish in nature.
"You! I'm going to tear you to pieces," they snarl loudly in the 'god's' direction, "Let my apprentice go now and I might let you die beforehand!"
mokuba
He almost can't believe it as both monsters disappear. Surely that face down card will turn over, will somehow raise the White Dragon once again. This is Seto Kaiba, the greatest Duelist in the world after all--
But it doesnt.
Seto's turn ends before Mokuba can remember to activate Return of the Red Eyes. He just draws for his turn instead. Black Metal Dragon.
Right.
Okay.
His eyes flicker to that face down card again, then back up at Seto. Into those deep blue eyes that no one else can seem to read. And for some reason, he can feel it in his gut.
He's going to win.
So why does it make him feel sick?
Mokuba activates Return of the Red Eyes and brings back his Black Dragon. Rising again, unlike its blue-eyed brother. It lost the battle, but not the war. It'll come back, because it's not a loser.
my brother is NOT a loser
That face down card. Fine. He activates Black Metal Dragon's effect, equipping it to his Black Dragon and raising its attack by 600. Now if that card is Mirror Force, at least he can put a Red Eyes in his hand with its second ability.
He just needs to attack.
He just needs to attack.
Mokuba is shaken from his intense stare by the sudden and unceremonious arrival of the other unfortunate inmates trapped in this virtual prison.
Apprentice?
Mokuba's never seen that person before in his life. He thinks maybe he's seen a tiefling that resembled them once, somewhere far, far away. Maybe in a video game, or a fantasy book…
He doesn't read fantasy books.
His head pulses and Mokuba quickly looks to Noa, standing on his own tower. Clapping with delight, but his cold eyes send a chill down the little brother's spine. Mokuba's never found himself on the receiving end of that bloodthirsty glare before.
[ "What are you waiting for, my Baby Brother?" Noa asks, his gentle voice chipped with malice. "Kill him already!" ]
Levant
The teleportation naturally disorients Levant as most instantly-displacing things do. On an ice floe one moment and stuck in freefall the next. Instinct keeps her from landing on her neck as she brings her knees in to right herself and sticks the landing with a roll onto the ground and a brandish of her bat.
Nothing came though, mostly cause the asshole with the omnipresent voice wanted witnesses rather than bringing everyone to a more appropriate battlefield. She witnesses two dragons, one light and the other dark, wipe each other in a climactic clash - and in the wisps of the destruction could she see the two duelists fighting against each other. One of them she knows from Tunglr - Mokuba - and the other… well, Captain Asshole announced his name. It doesn't take a genius to realize that this was Mokuba's very precious brother.
And that something must be very wrong for the two brothers to be playing Cursed Card Game while being precariously close to the edges of their tower.
She doesn't understand this game. She's avoided it like the plague because it's clearly reality-warping in some way - but now, avoiding it was to her detriment, given the looks on other people's faces frozen in understanding what she doesn't. The pang of annoyance goes through her as she realized that all she did with this card game was "cover her ears and hope it didn't come to her world" - instead of understanding it like she should've done.
Her thoughts are interrupted by Madison Rook's moment of rage and the sudden hesitation in Mokuba as he turned back towards the one who was in charge of this world.
She calculates what she wants to say. It's clear Mokuba is not in his right mind, but there's something there. And it looked like Rook had hit that something with their words - Mokuba's starting to doubt, which means the more time they give that doubt to fester, the better things should become. She's never met Mokuba in person - and they certainly weren't close enough as an "apprenticeship", but if there was something they did share, it was probably…
Being very bad friends to each other.
"Hey, capucapo!" Levant said her palms fanned around her mouth like a megaphone.
"Who's 'annoying blue and demanding' over there?," Lev rudely points at Captain Asshole, "Did you finally get a replacement for your older brother?"
"You should really consider a refund. I mean, unless megalomaniacs are your thing," she adds with a skeptical gaze.
"But even then, you could totally do better!" Lev continued, "The whole brotherly love "murder the hypotenuse" and getting you to do it is honestly like the 2nd out of the top 3 most pathetic things I've seen in two lives."
She turns to Captain Asshole to address him directly, "The 1st is gathering everyone around to watch your grand triumph against someone you couldn't take on yourself. How pathetic are you? I mean seriously, what's next, some grand sob story you wanna unveil?"
Ahh…ran out of things to say to stall. Okay. Just channel her inner Sato.
"Is it because your nose looks like it directly leaks snot into your mouth while you're sleeping?"
Whatever.
Joey
"Yugi!!" Joey responds before he even turns to look, and when he does? "WHOA, YUGI TOO?" The corner of his mouth pulls up - that's exciting! But Duke slaps him back to reality.
"They're gonna kill each other!?"
"Kaiba couldn't! Not after he fought so hard to save him at Duelist Kingdom, there's just no way!" Tristan says.
But Joey can't think about Duelist Kingdom. All he can think about is a voice in his mind urging him, controlling him, and then waking up on the pier in the middle of a duel to the death he didn't want. Of seeing Yugi battered and exhausted face down on the dock. Funny, then, that Mokuba seems to be fighting this off better than he had. Or maybe this green haired kid wasn't as good at puppeting him, not having the Millennium Rod.
Speaking of that green haired guy.
"SHUT THE HELL UP, DON'T TALK TO HIM LIKE THAT!! YOU CALL YOURSELF A BIG BROTHER!?" he roars. "Mokuba!! Remember Battle City! Remember how Espa Roba and his brothers treated each other! Remember what happened wit' me an' Yugi! And remember who was all there with you!"
Mokuba
Mokuba grits his teeth as he tries again to focus. Narrows his eyes at his opponent across the rooftop. Tries to block out the sound of everyone on the towers and their shouting. The sound of his noisy, conflicting thoughts.
But that girl is too much to ignore. His eyes flicker up to her, beside Rook and Téa Mazaki. Who is that, anyway? The face doesn't ring any bells, but those incessant insults make it hard to concentrate. He raises a hand to his aching head with a quiet growl.
"stay out of this, Lev…. you don't--!! you don't know what you're talking about!!" He doesn't know how he knows that name. But he knows that there's no one else who verbally abuses him so affectionately… Well maybe Lark, but--
Mokuba's head pulses again.
NOA
[ Noa turns his violent stare in Lev's direction, glaring daggers from his own Tower with a look that hardly screams amusement. Then his expression breaks, a wicked smile crossing his pale lips as he laughs
"No, no. You see, you couldn't be more wrong, Levant Este. I didn't put Mokuba up to anything! In fact, this battle was entirely his idea. Isn't that right, my Baby Brother?"
Mokuba doesn't respond.
Noa frowns again.
"Such petulant and childish insults. My Baby Brother doesn't need to associate with such poorly behaved, foul-mouthed children. When this Duel is through, I'll deal with you next. For now. Why don't you just sit down and shut up."
Noa gives a flick of his wrist and an elegant white dining chair appears behind Levant. It scoots itself forward, hitting her right in the back of the knees. ]
Seto Kaiba
Seto calmly looks over the gathered onlookers- Mokuba and Yugi's friends- as they try to figure out the situation, stalling his demise. Some man, and a girl he doesn't recognize, though the name Lev strikes recognition from somewhere online (minecraft?). He doesn't know why the man calls Mokuba his 'apprentice', as if that wasn't more than mutual fantasy roleplaying, online, but it does seem to strike a chord in his little brother, as do the girl's jeers. It dampens the acceptance of the end that had settled in Seto's chest.
"Unfortunately for you, Noa, Mokuba is a poorly-behaved, foul-mouthed child. He loves Capumon, dragons, and magic; you can't force him to deny his true self forever. Mokuba's freedom of expression and impudence toward most authority could never stay contained in the polite little blue box you've tucked them into."
He crosses his arms, now the one smirking.
"Meh heh. If you were truly Mokuba's older brother, you would know that you can't tame his passion for what, and who, he loves. Bringing his friends here was a fatal mistake."
Hika
It's official. They are the worst group of friends and siblings a person could ask for. From reasonably murderous angry Madison Rook, to her and her bad friend tendencies, to Seto Kaiba and his backhanded compliments. She still couldn't help but grin, even as the chair bonked her in the back of the knees and forced her to sit.
Note to self. This whole "screw reality" thing doesn't actually ping her danger perception - either that or it was simply a gesture to entirely humiliate. If the former is true, it is going to be very annoying for her when this asshole's house of cards comes crashing down.
She doesn't bother replying to Noa, instead dismissively standing up off the chair and brushing off her skirt and jeans.
There's not really much she can say that will be more effective than the words of Mokuba's actual beloved brother anyway.
Rook
Their rage face is intensifying, with passion, rather than frustration as Lev lays down the burn. Rook's about to build off her assessment of how pathetic Noa is when the chair appears and they look over to see their tower buddy rudely demeaned. They glare back at Noa with a wrinkled expression of judging disgust.
They have so many dark threats, clever insults, but they have to pick 1. "You're in no place to call anyone else childish, you pretentious brat. And no, you won't. First thing after this you're dealing with me."
The spellsword brandishes their weapon, the jagged crystal tip glowing with power that holds weight even here. But the brat's too far away, and Mokuba might lash out at Rook if they attack too early.
"Fuck you, and fuck your pathetic attempts at playing god."
Adjusting their stance as Lev stands, Rook turns to the chair, braces their leg on the side, and kicks it hard off the tower, sending it spiraling into the void. They don't watch it fall, maintaining eye contact with Noa the whole time.
Mokuba
Mokuba's head hurts so bad he can hardly stand it. His stomach aches.
He can't think. His head swims with contradicting thoughts, feelings.
Levant is his friend.
Rook is his friend.
Joey is his friend… Isn't he? And Téa, and Tristan too.
But Yugi… Yugi hurt him… He remembers the darkness inside that Capsule….
Yugi saved him, too.
As Seto calls him a poorly-behaved and foul-mouthed child, he wants to argue back. He wants to laugh.
Why does he want to laugh?
Nervously, he reaches for his favorite fidget toy. But nothing hangs around his neck, his fingers finding only his sweater vest.
He can't breathe. He feels like he'll be sick if he does.
[ "Attack him already!!!" Noa's voice comes through clear over the tempest of thoughts and emotions that cloud Mokuba's judgement. ]
He stares at his opponent across the rooftop. At the face down card in his spell/trap zone. Up at Noa. Over at the tower where Lev and Rook stand. At the Black Dragon at his own command.
He doesn't even like this fucking game--
"I…." After what feels like an eternity, Mokuba finally finds his voice.
"I end my turn without attacking."

Random Yu-Gi-Oh! thoughts (original series):
Ryou Bakura deserved better.
Tristan Taylor and Téa Gardner weren't useless and were more than just the cheerleaders.
Yugi Muto was constantly overshadowed by Yami Yugi/Atem and still is in media. In fact, most often when a merchandise item says it's Yugi, it's actually portraying Yami. The series may be named after him, but it disrespects him a lot, if sometimes unintentionally.
Seto Kaiba is one of the best anti-heroes of all time.
Mokuba Kaiba is a very decent character who could do with a bit more screen time.
Having Maximillion Pegasus live beyond Duelist Kingdom was actually a good move for the anime.
Noah Kaiba and his arc aren't terrible. They're just mistimed because the manga had been on hiatus due to Takahashi-san being ill during the end of the Battle City arc and the anime had to improvise. If it wasn't for it taking place in the midst of the finals, it would probably be my second favorite season tbh.
The Doma/Orichalcos/Waking the Dragons arc isn't as bad as people make it out to be. It's not great. But I do like several things from it. The new characters (not including Dartz, he's kinda boring and meh) and the development of old ones tends to be good for the most part, imo. I have more thoughts, but I'll just sum it up by saying it could've been handled better.
Mai Valentine deserved better.
Duke Devlin also deserved better. I haven't read it myself, but he seems to have had more development and a better story in the manga than what we're given in the anime.
Though I don't mind it, we could do without the tournament that precedes the Millennium World arc. None of the characters introduced in it are memorable, except Vivian for her love slave comment towards Yugi/Yami and Zigfried Von Schroeder for being Kaiba's business rival and a Pegasus expy wannabe.
Why did Rex Raptor and Weevil Underwood get so much extra screen time across every season (minus Noah's arc)? Were their characters really deserving of that?
I would've loved to see more of Thief King Bakura as himself versus being controlled by Yami Bakura via the shadow game. Yes, they are different characters, and it becomes clear when Yami Bakura sacrifices TKB and temporarily relinquishes control of him in that moment. (I'll try to find the episode where it happens to show. Edit: It's episode 211.)
The priests deserved better. All of them, except Aknadin, the traitor, and Mahad, who got a very dignified finale imo. (How nobody recognized Aknadin as the former pharaoh's brother when he returned to court is also nonsense... But I digress.)
Dark Magician Girl being Mana's ka and still looking like her modern self is kinda dumb.
More of the priests should've lived to the end. As it stands, only Priest Seto and Mana remain in the anime's canon.
Ryou Bakura deserved better.
I might have more thoughts, but this is all I got for now.

What do you imagine Tsukasa and Teru Minamoto's first meeting will be like? Do you think that could happen in this arc?I really wonder what it will be like when he sees an identical copy of Hanako-kun, but more dangerous and out of control 😂
I've said it before, but I'm not sure Teru can... do anything... to Tsukasa? I don't think an exorcist can do anything about a yorishiro, given that's the point of the system (which is kept in-balance by the mysteries + kannagi, trying to take some control AWAY from the Minamoto's previous dominion over the fates of kaii + sacrifices)... Teru's powers do not work on holy beings-- his hand sizzling merely on contact with the black crane, a few chapters ago, reminds us of this. Perhaps he has some sort of tactic at least for some kind of corralling(?), but just seeing the seal would be like, "ah, I see"... Teru is smart, and I don't think he wastes energy, if he can help it...
I'm not too sure it would be interesting or worth either of their time. I also am not SUPER interested in fight sequences that don't teach us something ... I'm not sure Tsukasa really 'cares' about Teru.
Teru already knows about the twins existence, and he already knows No. 7 is the traitor. Knowing the name "Yugi Tsukasa", I'd assume there's, since this arc, a general idea of the situation...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Teru already heard it was "No. 7's brother" who kissed Nene-chan, so he already knows Yugi Tsukasa is present in the school right now, responsible for this situation in part, meaning, of course Tsukasa is a kaii, too.
Tumblr media
There can't be a "whoaaaa, a second Hanako?!" surprise. He knows Yugi Amane has a brother, Yugi Tsukasa, tied to the terrible curse of the Red House, and now, in the school...
No. 7's yorishiro being the twin brother fabled from the Red House, wouldn't be so surprising, I think. More like... ugh, of course. It could be interesting from the angle of Teru gleaning something like, "Ah, so your brother is defecting, disobeying, and you don't want to take him down..." ... (which Teru could relate to, since Kou just recently asked him about becoming a kaii.... )
Anything could happen of course and I know sensei would make it interesting... !
buuuut personally I'm more curious about if Natsuhiko will have a continued role .... ? He's not currently occupied as far as we know, and we've been learning about him, as of late. We just learned about his unique skill, we've been getting consistently more art of him, and I'd sure like to see him in action. He's always been seen in a silly and only occasionally intimidating light, but he does get depicted in a flattering way in aside art.
Tumblr media
He likes to avoid Teru of course ... but what can Teru do to someone like Natsuhiko? "Being unkillable" sounds like a great way to be a distraction, enabling Tsukasa + Nene-chan all the time to get to the yorishiro itself, and then leaving Tsukasa to the ACTUAL big problem which HE is seemingly immune to, the clockkeeper. "Deathless Being VS Violent Minamoto" and "Timekeeper VS Timeless Being" are more interesting match-ups, if I'm just doing an overhead view .... if Tsukasa's going to do anything, I'd like him to face No. 1, who he may have some level of investment in, for how long the clock tormented Amane. Kako has also been judging Amane and trying to govern things .... facing a defecting yorishiro, and a kannagi, sounds interesting, to me.
Teru VS Natsuhiko is also pretty funny, these bishies lol...

Last, and POV
LAST: (this will probably get reworded as I hate the way it flows)
Atem turned to leave, hand in pocket while the other waved casually. "I look forward to our time after work," he said while exiting the lounge.
POV: (Bakura PoV for the first 2 chapters of longfic)
Bakura stared boredly out the school window. The nerd group was in the schoolyard below…and that stupid Tomb Keeper was with them. Even after everything they’d gone through together against the Pharaoh, the traitor turned tail and went whimpering back to his master. Pathetic. He huffed out an exhaustive sigh. ‘Dammit, Ryou. Where the fuck are you?’ Two weeks. Ryou had been completely MIA for two-fucking-weeks. ‘A soul doesn’t just up and vanish on its own,’ Bakura thought to himself. ‘So what the fuck happened?’ He ignored the stares from the losers as they filed into the classroom. Marik ignored him completely as he took a seat further up. He caught Yugi looking his way. Probably trying to figure out who was fronting at the moment. Shouldn’t be hard to figure out, since he wasn’t even trying to be his host. He tuned out everything, becoming focused on the (rather incompetent) teacher as class began. He took notes, just in case he managed to figure out where the fuck Ryou’s soul was hiding. Couldn’t have him failing something so mundane as algebra. That would just be shameful, considering the kid could calculate damage modifiers in his head. When chemistry came around, he couldn’t help it. The fool was writing the wrong chemical formula and was completely oblivious to it. Did he not realize that without the bonds for the Benzine rings, he had changed the resulting chemical? He was glad when that nightmare of a class was over. The damn meatsuit was screaming for food. His feet guided him to the stairs leading to the roof on instinct, but before he could even breach the top of the stairs he heard that fool, Joey shouting. “WHAT JUST HAPPENED IN THERE!? WHY IS DA EVIL RING SPIRIT GUY WALKIN’ AROUND IN OUR BUDDY RYOU’S BODY!? AND WHY IS HE SMART !? I DIDN’T THINK EVIL SPIRITS COULD ACTUALLY KNOW STUFF!” Wonderful. They probably thought he was nothing more than an ancient parasite, like the Pharaoh. Oh, if only they knew the truth. He sauntered through the door, bitterly dropped the bombshell that he wasn’t an absolute idiot, then left. He was done with this place. If Ryou hadn’t shown himself by now, then it was highly unlikely that he would show at all. ‘Seriously Ryou….where the FUCK did you go?!’

My beloved Yusei.
I know for a fact I have a different ship partner for him but I'm interested in your ideas cuz I like you and your ships are valid :)))
THATS TOTALLY VALID, Y'know, I think shipping wars are dumb I don't really care about ship discourse
Faithshippers 🤝 other Yusei ships
We love Yusei Fudo
YUSEI
First Impression: YUSEI FUDO. This guy was my first fave. 10 year old me watched one episode of ygo 5Ds and instantly became obsessed with it because Yusei is AWESOME and he was such a cool guy y'know. What's more cool than some guy with weird hair, on a motorcycle, on a quest for revenge with his robot buddies. Baby me ATE THAT UP. Yusei was my everything when I was a kid and I mean I loved 5Ds so much that I hated GX because it was more popular LMAO (younger me would call me a traitor for being such a rabid Judai stan now)
Impression now: I still have a soft spot for Yusei because Ygo 5Ds and Yusei are special for me. Looking back though just makes me laugh so hard because MAN this guy is filled with autism. But he's also just genuinely a great guy. When you grow up and look back at the guys you loved for being cool, you realise that underneath that coolness is someone who cares, not just about his friends, but about the world. I adore Yusei. I adore how much he cares and I adore the hope that he represents - that even when you're forced to survive in a world that doesn't want you to succeed, you have to keep moving and if you do, you'll find happiness at some point. I can see why younger me loved him so much LOL important character to me
Favourite moment: Ngl. Pretty much every duel Jack and Yusei had and of course the Aki Yusei duel
Idea for a story: I'd love to read about Yusei showing Judai and Yugi around New Domino and introducing him to his friends and teaching them how to ride D-Wheels. Card games on motorcycles baby!!!
Unpopular opinion: Don't have one I don't think?
Favourite relationship: Faithshipping for sure. I love Yusei and Aki's dynamic, y'know? But I love the rivalry between Jack and Yusei too. I wish I remembered more about Bruno because I feel like he had a pretty rad friendship with Yusei,, I need to rewatch 5Ds omg sjbdjsnsh
Favourite headcanon: I think Yusei is bisexual and I also think he'd probably like vaporwave music. I will not accept that him being autistic is a headcanon, it is canon/lh

Chapter 8: War of Tea
Yuri Yuki
War of Tea
Disclaimer: I don't own Naruto, but I so own yugi.
Recap: The reaction might cause a gas to accrue, knocking her out, or possibly killing her? Her training's first reaction was correct; best not add anything else to the tea already in her cup, and best by far still not to drink it.
War of Tea
XXXXXXXX
Sitting in the chair opposite sasuke was doing nothing for her nerves, if anything it was starting to give her a tension headache.
Coolly with steady hands to show that he was having no effect on her being. Sakura slowly slide the cup closer to herself to discourage for her "host" the traitor to add anything else to her tea.
It was a quite signal that said she was fine with her tea, just not ready to drink it yet.
The current movement meant on the surface that she was fine with her tea. It was either too hot for her to drink at this time, or that she was not thirsty at this moment, but was not unpleased with the tea.
As Sakura stared at sasuke to gauge his next move she was keen on the fact that her anbu training had saved her yet again.
Not only did her training train her body, but trained her mind as well. For what good was a finely honed blade for battle without a capable wilder; the same applied to your body in anbu. You could
have the best moves, a fine tuned body ready for action.
But if one did not know how to use their body in certain situations, political missions, subterfuge, it was all useless and the missions would fail and worse things could happen than what you were generally sent to do in the first place.
Such was the life in anbu, something her and Ino once fawned over when younger, truly not understanding the real meaning or worries of an anbu life.
Jolted from her thoughts by the movement of sasuke's hand to the sugar container sakura went back to tracking his movements.
Seeing as he did not add the same packet to his tea, sakura felt more secure with ruling out nerve gas or counter agents so far, but not completely.
Instead she decided to conclude that it was a poison or singularly occupant acting agent.
Now feeling a little less tenser than before, now that her cup rested in her hands and safely away from sasuke's hands, Sakura was certain it best to observe sasuke for the time being.
As the third platoon captain, no matter her leave, she found that she was lacking in information about the current situation that sasuke was in. And wholly unprepared to engage with him do to lack of knowledge. Of course she knew the general information about his punishment, and the stay of his execution.
The council was more adamant to keep him under lock and key for "rebuilding" purposes than to wipe out a powerful "weapon" that the village could use. It sounded unjust to the ears, but not so much to her, not now as it was with the knowledge she had.
Sakura was almost in mind to have sided with what danzo would have wanted, death, if he were here to push the sentence. Although not for the same reasons, 'for now I will observe his actions, then decide how to deal with this unknown "entity" accordingly' sakura thought as she noted that sasuke liked his tea sweet. Better in the long run for her, it was easier to hide poison in sweet things, no bitter taste.
00000000000000000000
Sasuke idly placed his spoon back onto the table as he observed sakura from his chair. He had noticed after she had pulled her cup closer, she tensed when he went for the sugar a bit.
But slowly her eyes tracked his hands as they added the sugar to his cup. Yet as a whole her vision did not waiver from his person to the other things in the room.
Of course her pose at the table showed utmost indifference to him, but it was just that, a pose, nothing more nothing less, only meant to keep hostility bay.
In the words of his ex-teacher kakashi 'underneath the underneath' those could be the only words to describe their current battle, for that was surely what it was.
A battle to gauge what the other one would do, what they were like, what they were thinking, a battle underneath the underneath to both learn about the other.
Slowly sasuke picked up the tea mug to take a sip, gazing at sakura over the rim of the mug.
Just because naruto refused to talk in detail about sakura did not mean he did not know some things.
But still he took his time drinking the tea to watch sakura and debate about her new looks. Just as he was about to test a theory out, there was a knock at the door.
Sakura grunted and told him with her eyes to get the door.
Sasuke knowing it was already kakashi stated, "come in, the door is open…" glancing back sharply at sakura
sasuke noticed she had moved her hands to her lap. Her right resting on her thigh next to her kunai holster, possibly looking tenser if you stared at her hard enough,
"Ma, I thought I sensed my team in here, how mean to leave sensei out..." kakashi shuffled into the kitchen one fist in his pocket and the other behind his head like old times.
It looked like the copy-nin hadn't changed a day since sasuke last saw him, only tell-tale wrinkles at the corner of his eye gave him away, although they looked more stressed prone to sasuke than age.
"Ma, ma, now don't all jump at once to great me….where is naruto at?"
Kakashi asked ask he took a seat between sakura and sasuke noticing the tense atmosphere between his two students.
Sakura look liked she was ready to attack sasuke, and sasuke seemed to be eyeing up sakura trying to examine her.
Kakashi could hardly blame the boy.
It had been awhile since he saw sakura, and kakashi was sure he wanted to know about her looks and what was going on. He and naruto never talked to him much about sakura, the less the better.
It was hard to talk about some things with her, and also prevented sakura from learning some things she should not.
It was already a miracle that naruto had quite this quite about it for so long, even to sasuke.
Sakura made a faint sound in the back of her throat kakashi had learned as her 'No, kakashi sensei, I have not seen naruto, noise' it was almost like reading an Uchiha, you knew it was a negative noise, but not exactly what it entailed unless you knew that particular uchiha.
It was a boon naruto and he had picked it up at all unlike her other friends.
Mostly it was thanks to do to both of their time spent earlier in Uchiha Company that allowed them to communicate with sakura as it was. "dobe, is still asleep upstairs."
Sasuke volunteered for kakashi's information.
Kakashi thought it best to break off this little standoff that they were having, "…sakura…" kakashi ventured tentatively, when she glanced at him from the corner of her eye he knew he had her undivided attention.
"Why don't you go on and get naruto up, I'll keep Sasuke Company" he hedged hoping she would go.
What he did not expect was for her to signal back in anbu code, what she said was worse.
The way she glanced quickly from him to sasuke, while straightening up a little in her chair, then leaning back to the right, as if getting comfortably in her chair, all while casually placing her hands on the table.
'Dangerous. Not yet, Tea.'
TBC…
AN: I have danzo as still killed. The fight with itachi that got rid of the snake in sasuke still happened. But both got gravely hurt, itachi did not reveal much, both survived the fight.
Ero-sensei is not dead, but is missing an arm. Pain has not attacked the village.
Thus everything is almost the same. I will explain the rest as I go, this is a mystery.
And we are seeing it mostly from what sakura understands so far so you want understand some major things until Itachi takes the stage.
Others you will find out soon (evil laugh) HAHHAHAH
Also i'm trying to make it easier to read. Review to let me know and i'll post the next chapter quickly.

So in Discord we had a conversation about bad pick up lines, and I thought it would be fun to write some short drabbles about Yugi and Atem based on those bad pick up lines.
1. "I'm sorry, you're so beautiful you made me forget my pick up line."
“Looks like you’ve caught someone’s eye.” Téa nudged Yugis arm playfully.
“I doubt it.” He said, rolling his eyes at her.
She laughed and moved quickly, her hand darting across the table to grab one of Yugis fries. He gasped dramatically and looked back at her.
“You said you weren’t hungry.” He said.
“I wasn’t until your food got here.” She pouted and quickly snatched another fry from his plate.
“Get your own.” Yugi said, eating some of his food himself.
“Oh! He’s looking this way again.” Téa exclaimed excitedly, looking over Yugis shoulder.
“Téa.” He groaned fighting the urge to look behind him.
“No, Yugi, you have to believe me. This guy is definitely checking you out.” She said.
“Maybe he’s checking you out.” He told her.
“I don’t think so.” She laughed. “He’s definitely on your team, and his eyes are on you.”
Yugi laughed and shook his head. He couldn’t resit the temptation to see for himself.
“Is he looking now?” He asked.
She glanced over his shoulder then shook her head.
Yugi casually looked back over his shoulder, spotting two guys sat at a table not far from theirs. He quickly looked over the guy facing him and sighed internally, he had no chance. The guy suddenly looked up at him, catching his eye and smiling. Yugi turned away quickly.
“No.” He said.
“What do you mean no?” Téa sighed and stole another fry. “I would.” She winked as she ate.
“Then maybe you should.” Yugi said. “I’m not interested.”
“Oh come on Yugi!” She said, leaning over the table and smiling at him. “You could do with opening up a little, have some fun!”
“Téa, I know you’re trying to help, but I know what I need and it’s not him.” He shook his head and ate some more of his food.
“What do you mean?” She asked, reaching for his plate again. He sighed and pushed the food over to her.
“I know his type.” He started. “Look at him, he’s hot and he knows it. He’s not boyfriend material, he’s one-night-stand never speak to you again material.”
“Who hurt you?” She asked.
He laughed and glanced over to the guys table again. He was speaking to the man next to him who seemed entirely unimpressed by the topic of conversation.
“Come on, tell me I’m wrong.” He said as he turned back to her.
She looked over his shoulder then shrugged. “I reckon there’s more to him than that.” She grinned at him. “Come to think of it, he hasn’t looked at anyone else in here the way he’s been looking at you.”
“He probably thinks I’m easy.” He said.
“Yugi!” She glared at him.
“Téa.” He said, staring back.
They both sighed at the same time then Yugi laughed.
“Okay, I admit that maybe he is attractive.” He said, glancing quickly at the guy again. She grinned at him and clapped her hands excitedly. “But no, I’m not going to.” He added.
“Oh my God, he’s standing up.” Téa said, trying to pretend she wasn’t looking. “He’s coming this way!” She said excitedly.
“Téa, please.” He groaned.
Despite himself he could feel the excitement building in his stomach, and it was taking every ounce of will power he had not to look back.
“You know, I think I have to go to the bathroom.” Téa said suddenly, standing up.
“Traitor.” He said, glaring as she winked at him before hurrying off.
Yugi stayed looking forward, staring intently at the plate of unfinished food on the other side of the table. He felt a presence next to him and prepared himself to politely decline whatever the guy was about to offer him.
“Hey.” The voice he heard threatened to break his resolve already and as Yugi turned to look up at the guy he knew he would not be saying no to anything he offered.
The man in front of him was gorgeous. His strong features were what he noticed first, high cheekbones, full lips... but his eyes were what captivated him. Deep red eyes looked back at him, amusement and warmth in them as the guy let out a soft laugh.
Yugi was gone.
“Can I sit with you?” The guy asked, his deep voice had Yugis thoughts turning to less innocent ones very quickly.
“Sure.” He said.
The guy smiled as he sat down and Yugi tried not to sigh at the sight. He suddenly didn’t care if this guy only wanted him for one night, he’d do anything to hear that voice whisper in his ear.
He cleared his throat to try force some sense back to himself. The man leaned forward and laughed softly again.
“I’m sorry.” He started. “You’re so beautiful you made me forget my pick-up line.”
Yugi couldn’t help but laugh loudly at the words. That had to be the worst line he’d ever heard and it had come from the God of a man in front of him. The guy frowned at him and Yugi shook his head, trying to calm himself.
“I’m sorry.” He forced out. “I just... wow.” He laughed again and had to put a hand over his mouth to stop himself. He took a deep breath. “Okay, sorry.”
The guy smiled at him.
“Of all the things I expected you to say to me, that wasn’t one of them so it just shocked me that’s all.” Yugi explained.
The guy laughed quietly and tilted his head to the side. “Humour me, what did you expect me to say?” He asked.
Yugi shrugged and leaned forward.
“I dunno, maybe ‘wanna fuck?’” He said.
This time the guy in front of him laughed loudly. Yugi felt a little guilty about the way he’d judged him.
“Oh.” The guy shook his head. “I’m not into one-night-stands.” He said. “As fun as I’m sure that would be, I’d rather take you to dinner first. You know, get to know you a bit better before I jump in your bed.”
Now Yugi did feel bad. He grinned at the guy and nodded.
“I’m not into that either.” Yugi said happily. “Dinner sounds wonderful though.”
“Great.” The guy held out a hand to him. “I’m Atem.”
“Hi Atem.” Yugi said as he took his hand. “I’m Yugi.”
“Yugi.” Atem said happily, smiling at him. “What do you like to eat then?”

there's a limit on how much you can be an isekai intellectual...
a bunch of analyses have been popping up before me all day so i wanted to throw my hat into the ring. all love to ppl who are exercising their creative minds + ppl like geoff here who just talk about these things because of fan interest but i feel like there reaches a point where exploring the "types" of isekai is pointless? i've seen ppl list out the different types of villainess revenge isekai or fantasy mmorpg isekai but eh why fit them all into separate boxes like that?
i think it's easier to think of isekai as a "type" (genre) of itself with only two categories: 1) a focus on isekai (lit. another world) 2) tensei (lit. to be reborn). this allows for a variety of applications and thus tropes that ppl see so many trends of!
with isekai - in another world
you see everything from:
pure fantasy (inuyasha, digimon wait maybe not the best example but in my childhood mind i count digimon as pure fantasy, fushigi yugi)
mmorpg inspired fantasy/adventure (.hack//legend of twilight, sao ugh, log horizon, overlord (LOVE OVERLORD!)
otome game-esque worlds >>> this is where it gets complicated with "villainess routes" since i admit there are multiple villainess tropes but this is why it's nice to not think of this as a "sub-type/genre" bc it frees you from those complications! (the saint's magic power is omnipotent, the white cat's revenge as plotted from the dragon king's lap soso cute!, the savior's book cafe in another world, i'm a villainous daughter so i'm going to keep the last boss wait i can't remember if she's reborn in this one lmaooo see this is why rules make everything hard)
with tensei storylines - being reincarnated/reborn in another world as *insert character/role*
you see...
the same tropes!!
pure fantasy (a returner's magic should be special, reminiscence adonis, the lady and the beast, light and shadow, i can't think of a manga off the top of my head for this ah)
mmorpg inspired fantasy/adventure (so i'm a spider so what i stan kumoko so hard, her majesty's swarm, can't name another off the top of my head ah i hate lists shorter than two things...)
self-insert based games/novels (fiance's observation log of a self-proclaimed villainess, who made me a princess, death is the only ending for the villainess, the villainess wants to marry a commoner, honestly games vs novels are different applications but i'm not in the headspace to try to remember a bunch of both lol)
*insert line break to give random ppl a break from scrolling but tl; dr just enjoy things for what they are no need to micro analyze*
similar variations occur in both genres (if ppl want to be super technical i guess i'm arguing that isekai itself is a massive genre that has the "another world" subgenre and "reincarnation" subgenre tl; dr) so i think it's honestly a huge pain to try to separate all these trends into so many different types of stories. for me personally it's easier to not get overwhelmed by this gigantic umbrella of "isekai" that spans light novels, manhwa, manga, and mobile games by just stripping each story down into its trademark tropes (aka character archetypes, story structures) and slapping "oh this is a person going to a world that's not ours" and "this person gets reborn as blank in another world". none of this "omg this power fantasy is such a this kind of isekai moment" or "there are 14 different types of villainess revenge stories and this series fits into this" bc AH labels! limitations! circle-jerks via ppl trying to compartmentalize everything and sound smart for leaving a comment on story analysis instead of ooh-ahhing over a character's face! dividing things into light novel manga vs manga vs korean manhwa ft. female characters!
the last bit is mainly why i feel frustrated by ppl's insistence to group everything?
the video linked at the beginning of the post (honestly good video essay, i enjoyed it, i just kept thinking in my head the whole time "marimo these are tropes do not take the genre talk literally") has a baby comment thread talking about "korean isekai manhwas" as a genre featuring nothing but reincarnated villainess' and i can't.
like i cannot acknowledge that as a genre of any sort. the energy i felt reading through some of those insights takes me back to 2012 when all yt americans discovered k-pop and deemed all korean music k-pop from then on! (ppl still do this now, yes you are seen and don't talk to me pls i don't like you. k-pop is korean pop music and nothing less and nothing more. take a few seconds and try to parse apart aspects of korean culture instead of slamming everything into a monolithic label that has the letter k and a hyphen.) it feels so odd to see a bunch of young ppl on ig and tiktok acknowledge korean media that happens to be in the form of a webtoon as "oh stories all about young girls becoming villains in stories they made/played" bc it feels so reductive u.u
(positionality disclaimer that i'm praying isn't actually necessary: i am a 3rd-generation korean of japanese descent do not fite me i am exhausted irl of ppl asking for validation/verification bc massive shove off.)
breaking news! korean manhwa...is just as multifaceted as japanese manga...bc how can comics as an art-form not have multiple genres...huh such a shocker?!?! same likely applies to media in other parts of the world like chinese manhwa and french comics--not my place to explain either of those i just know those industries exist bc of wakfu and donghua shows by Tencent.
at the end of the day it's not like analyzing any kind of isekai is wrong--absolutely not!! i think it can be super fun to think about how isekai elements complicate a story (MCs trying to go back home, ppl from the og world, reincarnation plot-twists) or maybe even bash a series for including some kind of other world element when they could have just written a super fun fantasy.
insert marimo's brief ramble that hey you can get sick of truck-kun's hitting disillusioned guys who happen to be super duper smart or girls who happen to be master chefs/craftsmen but transporting a fully-grown being into a fantasy setting is the ultimate cheat code for making mundane modern technology seem cool and overpowered, and being reincarnated as a fully grown person in a world with a pre-made story/game set-up completely bypasses the need for an author to slowly flesh out world-building in a natural progression so isekai is actually a really smart writing tool it's just that there are some series where the author didn't use it well at all and it's cheesy or clearly isekai was misused as a vehicle for character/story development and it was pointless *DEEP BREATH OUT*
in this essay i will argue...lol i am such a culture studies major!! if i were an english major i would be talking all about writing but here i am having a side-tangent about world-building via someone being reborn wow i love this for me (don't get me started on when an author has someone reincarnate as a baby and the story is mostly them having warm fluffy moments with their family--typically father figures--and getting lots of powers i could and would and probably will rant about east asian toxicity)
but anyway am i crazy????? like yes for being passionate about the technical use of a word like genre (i am a scorpio rising let me be fussy pls) but i don't think it's a lot to ask for ppl to not unironically see "villainess revenge isekai" as the definition of korean manhwa.
idk as someone who resonates with why japanese isekai is so popular domestically + why a lot of korean manhwa feat. the same tropes (it's not for great reasons lads it's actually depressing tbh) i'm just starting to feel kind of pained by the generalization and need to separate "cute japanese girl in an otome game"/"japanese boy finds a harem in another world" from "korean girl dies and comes back as a villainess" bc they are just! applications to the same story device!!
recommendations for any who makes it this far down below <3
// also gladly recommend any of the examples i've listed in the above rant as i've read/watched all of them and adore them v much! //
save me princess
super refreshing fantasy manhwa ft. a princess and her ex-boyfriend having to save the world!
the beginning after the end
an AMERICAN web novel turned into a comic (but see it being not korean/japanese doesn't really matter when you just consider isekai as a genre...isn't it nice to not overthink it?) ft. a super-powerful wizard king reincarnated into another world and starting from scratch--gives mushoku tensei vibes but huge twists!
the reason why raeliana ended up at the duke's mansion
love love LOVE this story--read the title and you'll learn how this girl reincarnated as the character raeliana in a book gets married to a duke!
trash of the count's family
such a good novel!! a guy gets reborn as a lazy oaf and he takes the hero of the story under his wing...plot twists come up later on!
this time i will definitely be happy!
v good and refreshing for a shorter series! she's been reborn 3 times and remembers every time the hero's stabbed her in the back, and now she just wants to break up with him!
silver diamond
older manga but v good adventure w intrigue! a boy who loves plants get sucked into a desert world with demonic lizards and a mysterious bodyguard by his side. shonen-ai not BL but wonderful vibes nonetheless + great side characters!
the princess imprints a traitor
adore everything in this from the world (not in that way this society makes me so angry) to the machinations at play and the dynamic between the fl and ml

Crazy theory of this week (cause again, I really need to sleep!)! #JSHK
I don't know exactly why and I assume this information because Teru seems a character that know some relevant sh*t in the story. (He also hates Hanako to a point of no return so... Not maybe the most reliable opinion BUT!)
Tumblr media
Anyway, chapter 70 gives two interesting povs. Teru's and Hanako's.
Teru explained to Akane what was going on inside the school under his own conclusions.
Tumblr media
Nº6 did all of this, "kidnap a maiden" thing because he wanted to keep protecting this land (Aka the school, that was built on it.)
Tumblr media
The Supernaturals of the school threaten alive ones so they keep existing and with that, they protect the school. But they... are losing the power to do that. ("The knife has been very subtle" eh Teru.)
Why exactly? Because this motherf*cker was in love with the girl that was planned to be sacrificed in the first place:
Tumblr media
By advising Akane, Teru implies there is going to be a confrontation in the future. "Be careful because Hanako-kun is an evil spirit and in the future I'm going to need you to defeat him." Now we are in chapter 79, we know Teru has a dream. And to make it true he needs Aoi-chan too. In this chapter, he even gave a protection charm to Aoi-chan. Because he knows what's going to happen next and he knows what's going on. He knows this was all planned by Hanako-kun (And he is right. Mostly.) When he reach for Akane-kun in that place, and see Aoi-chan with him, he realizes there is nothing he can do in that moment. And for sure, that he is coming back for her. She is necessary for his own move, and Teru is about to do something pretty soon.... So, we will know sooner or later. We know the Minamoto were part of the village that sacrificed girls just to be safe of the Evil (Which I think is the sh*t that "lives" in the cursed red house. And also in the Fake Tsukasa Yugi we all have seen in the school messing around and not Hanako as Teru believes, the only thing he doesn't know. We can assume that Hanako as a ghost took all responsibility for Fake Tsukasa's crimes...), Teru explained everything in this chapter, he even changed the way he was speaking in order to doesn't sound rough.

(Akane-kun is so relatable here...) Teru knows about Hanako's setup, but not about Tsukasa at all I think. And we have seen Tsukasa (the fake one) just causing chaos. But Hanako, well he is more elaborated. So I guess he thought the evil spirit was just Hanako by himself, when in realise Hanako just wanted Yashiro to live longer. It's like when Tsuchigomori saw him smiling with Kou and Yashiro and told him: "Didn't expect you to want friends at this point." Because Hanako was always a lonely spirit that God put into the school to "atone" his crimes (which I believe are: none.) Another day I'll write some theory about why Hanako is going to come alive, again, because maybe he is not as dead as we think... wait for it!
There are still a lot of questions. Why was Yashiro to be sacrificed in the first place? Why is she a kannagi? (Cause if she is a kannagi cause again, she is going to die soon as all the characters had said, well that's a f*cking paradox.) And what is Teru planning? This way the school is safe and as an exorcist he doesn't have to worry anymore, so why? Hanako did his job. They will lose their jobs as exorcists? Even if the school is sealed more supernaturals will appear in the city and now without the 7 mysteries they have lost a great ally to beat them... Or he needs Aoi-chan to fight this evil spirit who he thinks... is Hanako(?) We might think for sure the school can be attacked now the 7 mysteries are gone... (I also believe the death of his mother is relevant to his interests now...) We will see.
That was Teru's point of course. But that's not all.

This is when everything starts to falling apart. Because, before Hanako appeared in front of Yashiro, she was destined anyway to die young. Okay, right? But how? He wanted to protect her, so he messed up with all the school mysteries ("he was the traitor all the time" the one who weakened them) and they lost their powers to protect the school of... other things. (The night Aoi-chan was kidnapped by Nº6, the supernaturals were all over the place.) I mean, he doing all of this is the reason Nº6 came out of his hole to kidnap some random girl and ending all just fine and the 7 mysteries dissapeared for good... But is not that easy.
What have we been learning so far? Yes, Tsukasa, Natsuhiko and Nanamine started everything with Nº2. Tsukasa's wishes make everything dangerous. But it was Hanako the one who, with the idea of ending these dangerous scenarios, also weakened all the 7 mysteries in the future. He was even judged for it in chapter 61, night of the kidnapping. So: it was to get dangerous anyway? If he just had let the mysteries go wild like they were in the past of the story Yashiro might died even sooner because Nº6 was going to appear in any case? He was going to appear the night of the sacrifice and take Yashiro you like it or not? Yes, but... for this scenario to occur we need: chaos. Because without it, there is no need of protecting anything. (Yashiro's remaining life and Tsukasa's decisions are so related that it actually hurts...)

So my conclusion is... (Hanako needs to take a break.) I think at first Hanako thought that maybe keeping the school without strange incidents was the best way to keep Yashiro alive, Nº6 shouldn't show up to protect the school that night, and everything would be fine... YES, but this is when Tsukasa (the fake one/real evil spirit) comes out on stage. And Hanako/Amane undestands everything is bigger than he believed. Even if he fix a mystery with Yashiro, another will get out of control. There is no stop. He couldn't do anything. If he didn't protect the school, Yashiro dies. And if they keep destroying the yorishiros, the mysteries then lose their powers and can't protect the school either way, so Yashiro dies. (Yashiro dies in every possible line because of that chaos. Because Nanamine's wish and Tsukasa's existence.) There was no escape, he even tried to wish for a fake world (thanks Number 4) where Yashiro could live happily. But that didn't end really well... So the only final way to help Yashiro was... sacrificing another human (which is also... something like what happens when you make a wish in the red house... right).
What Hanako commits is not really different from what Tsukasa does, even if his reasons are compelling... And the same happened in the moment he presumably killed his brother. How much power has the Red house over Hanako? How much of him is himself and how much of his soul is changed cause the evil spirit of the red house? And in the end, Teru said the 7 mysteries threaten but they also protect. That implies Hanako is the one who weakened all of them (having the role of the leader too) and he seems like the bad guy or the traitor, when he just did all of it to protect Yashiro (and the other kids for sure!), so he is just doing what he thinks is correct. He didn't help other mysteries go berserker in the first place but at the same time he let Aoi dies for his own desires. "If she is not Yashiro, then is fine. She wanted to die..."
I also believe Teru and Hanako are destined to fight again, that Nº1 should choose in which side to support. That something bigger is coming, with the supernaturals, the Red house, the Minamotos. And they will have to leave their differences behind to defeat a real evil. (N°6 is an air head btw.)

It also interesting how Hanako didn't want to destroy Nº1 Yorishiro either because, as Teru said too: It could come in handy. Akane was even in the moment Nº6 took Aoi-chan. He also was there with Yashiro first. He is there to protect even if he will sacrifice his own lifespan. He is important for what's coming next, I don't think the other two mysteries of time chose him because those stupid reasons they said...
